Tricuno kipo si concepts above ft. kipo recolors based off me learning the purple-pink tint was going to be more subtle originally, traces of trico himself & traces of a couple timbercats.

Okay so the original idea for half-tricuno si was that some random surface humans found trico dna & were like "lol what would happen if we injected it into this baby lol" & then it turned out that the dna had smth to do with the boy & trico, like the original them way before kipo's time or before the mutant-ing, and si was some sort of reincarnation/representation of their friendship, and that friendship was her anchor. And then i thought about a colony/society of tricuno mutes who're descended from the original boy & trico's village, & they're all part mutes who can transform like the part megamutes can, and whenever a megamute comes along they train them in the ways of an anchor; the default anchor is the friendship of trico & the boy. So kipo si doesn't usually wear as much clothes bc they're so in tune with their mute halves, using feathers & tough skin to protect against mild elements?

potential flaws for the tricuno & human symbiotic colony(cw forced loss of identity/memories discussed in the last one): -too much pressure on mega mutes or chosen-one-descended teens once they come of age, encanto-style? -due to living in close symbiotic relationships w tricuno for years, and being part or all mutes, the tlg(guardian clan??) colony has developed their own animalistic language, all chuffs and purrs and whines and trills and whistles and--basically it's near impossible for them to communicate w other mutes, let alone humans -could steal the plot of ico & have offspring w certain traits be cast out to the mercy of the rest of the surface world -everyone who joins the colony is mutated if they're human? All r given anchors, but keeping sapience/identity/memories is not guaranteed. -the more humanoid a tricuno mutnt, the more frail they're treated/less agency they're given, a little like old fashioned sexism

Hey i never told Tumblr about TogWeaver and her friend Clarence Lawful the Shoeless so i'm just going to ramble about them under the cut.

First off thats only a small lie i posted TogWeaver here as a joke about how there are so many [soul]weaver classes, but she ended up developing into her own thing and even got lore and stuff.

TogWeaver: 1. She was a experiment made by the Irismancer. He had wanted a companion who was just as smart as him so using the wealth of knowledge he gained that changed him from a flying eyeball into the irismancer, he did a number of experiments on other creatures. the closest to his goal was TogWeaver, who was just a humanoid tog. She is equal to him in every respect from intelligence to power, however she can't talk, only bark. The Irismancer saw her as defective because of this and tossed her aside. She would eventually learn soul weaving and, because there were no hard feelings on her end towards him, named herself TogWeaver in a similar vein to her creator. 2. She is very good friends with Rolith who tried to train her like a normal tog before realizing she was talking under all that barking- which prompted him to swiftly get her to join the pactogal knights. However, due to the difficulty of translating herself to her fellows she eventually left oaklore and the knights. Again, no hard feelings. 3. one of the headcanons someone suggested for her was that she is a Hero of Lore and would therefore gain a dragon at some point. I'm still mulling this over and aren't sure about it, but the idea of her having a dragon is dope. 4. I headcanon that she is BIG. broad shoulders, huge muscles, truly a humanoid tog in every way. I'm still debating if she has a tail, but if she does its a stubby little thing that can be covered up and does not need a tail hole. 5. her main element is metal and her soul ally is the elemental spirit of patience who translates for her. She ends up going back to rejoin the knights but due to her lack of experience she is rejected. 6. idk where in the timeline she is, but she does meet tomix at some point. if its more along the lines of book 3 she gets rejected from the knights because she is obviously a magical creature and couldn't get within a mile of oaklore keep. 7. She is loyal to a fault and goes out of her way to do nice things, however she does tend to lightly bully Clarence because he is so short. however she always checks with him to make sure she isn't crossing a line or being too mean. she loves her short king even if he needs a step stool to get on his throne.

Clarence Lawful 1. Clawkin Paladin! Clawkin Paladin! He embrews his claws with light magic! 2. he is a good natured fellow with a shy but stubborn streak- he wanted to become a paladin and damn it he did! but ummm don't praise him too much. or at all. a thumbs up or a pat on the back is all he would like. 3. I like to think he is one of those clawkin that choose to stay in sulen'eska, but he defiantly learned to be a paladin long before book 3. IDK how that would work timeline rise, but i like to think he went to paladin school and got training by sneaking out of his tribe's territory at night. This is probably why he isn't around when his tribe needs him during the razing of the villages. Feeling guilty, he stays in sulen'eska, seeing it as no longer being a burden to the tribe while also doing them proud by protecting his new home. 4. he meets TogWeaver during paladin training and he sees her bullying as a challenge for him to overcome his shyness and assert himself more. 5. because he doesn't have hands, at one point during paladin training, as friendly hazing they assigned him dish duty. the other paladins didn't realize how difficult the task would be, but clarence is stubborn and tied sponges to his paws. 6. his name can be shortened to C.Lawful. 7. He avoids a paladin's one weakness (shoelaces) by not having shoes. Truly a powerful paladin.

keef... i do really love him as a character, he is definitely the stereotypical cool edgelord guy of the group but i am a sucker for them as it is he's so sweet and an actual badass and he is great on his own but better with the other paladins. "too much screen time" cuz tbh there is a lot of points where they're just like. here's keith going through literally all of the character development and plot stuff. aside from maybe shiro or pidge he gets wayyy too much spotlight. but for good enough reason i suppose. he's just really cool and i think he's neat :3

im a bit of a fake sonic fan cuz i barely play any of the games and am not too too into like the lore and story stuff of the whole shebang but shadow is interesting cuz i don't really. get him. like i get that he's edgelord and like THE ULTIMATE LIFEFORM and he's like dope and whatever but i never really got the context for like. his deal also it doesn't seem like he gets a lot of attention as it is so like. hit me up with shadow the horgeheg lore ig

i only know what little about tokyo mew mew i do from magical girl expert @mew-cake but quiche my beloathed he is a perfect addition to my collection of sadistic genderqueer motherfuckers he's disgusting and i love it i say "wasted potential" lightly because 1. I Do Not Know The Entirety of Tokyo Mew Mew Plot so don't @ me, but also 2. from what i Have seen (an episode pretty close to the end of the original anime's run) he kinda just. keeps being weird and progressively more possessive and violent, and his motives seem kind of random or at least inconsistent??? so like idk i hope that New makes him more interesting. i don't want a reformed quiche cuz like where's the fun in that - i just want him to make a little more sense

Episode 133 Favourite Moments

Fjord:

“pew-pew” HDYWTDT” lol, his fire damage is MVP in the battle against the salamanders.

Loved the “engage” decision made in this episode - showcasing his character and leadership qualities. He is willing to take risks, use everything at his disposal and make hard choices for a chance at better results. 

Loving to see his tactical, calculated, pragmatic and decisive/merciless side.

Killing Zoran while intimidating Lucien, chills, what a badass. 

Caleb: 

Capeleb, my beloved, punting the salamander into oblivion and carrying a fellow squishy wizard protectively, what a king. 

Also respect for the honesty about the use of fortune’s favour and taking the stumble. Even more respect for immediately getting himself safely out of danger with stormrider boots. 

The tower top floor conversation with Essek cemented some sweet character development, acknowledging the need to see beyond the self/atonement yet addressing the still present temptations of power/time travel. 

He is more honest to himself and starting to come to terms with his past and I love him for it. 

Forgoing sleep and staying awake to keep watch as Frumpkin to alert everybody of TT’s arrival

Jester: 

The heroes’ feast was such a treat as she listened to everyone’s needs attentively to incorporate their favourites.

She even remembered to feed Sprinkles! What an accomplishment honestly. 

Jester’s humour is always very appreciated in hard circumstances. 

She also got that commune which gave them important confirmations.

All her support for her fellow party members is amazing as she casts fox’s cunning on Beau which allowed a successful setup of her intuit charge.

Her battle prowess also shone in the combat this episode, and her symbol of pain was crucial to them knocking down 3 of the TT.

Beau: 

Dope monk stuff! Flurry of blows + extract aspect, Beau is probably one of the most helpful party members in battle. 

Running up the walls everywhere, truly a legend.

Successfully setting up the intuit charge! Her magical knowledge is so reliable.

Straight running into the brown mold and eating that cold damage like snacks

That toss of the arcane field generator was pretty epic not gonna lie

“Inuit charge” is in everybody’s mind now, thanks Beau.

Just casually leaping cross giant chasms because she is awesome.

Caduceus: 

Our favourite firbolg cleric got to explore the Aeorian city proper as a stealth agent! He was silent and super perceptive and gave the group the much needed tactical information and also a small lore dump. 

Cad successfully carried out the scouting mission, invisible and flying, by himself! Cad is so reliable you guys - probably the only one I would trust to not get side-tracked in this (if it was Fjord, we’d lose him in 5 minutes). 

What a dedicated healer, picking everybody up after the salamander fight. 

Pranking Fjord is fun as usual, especially when invisible.

I’d love to see Cad taking a pottery class.

Veth: 

The fluffernutter and sovereign glue were interesting plans lol

Veth “this is my pile of rubble find your own” Brenatto

Rapid-firing crit hit magical crossbow, what a queen. 

Protecting Caleb with intellectual fortress and sticking by him. 

Best moment was that she said she was going to kill Otis and she actually got to do it! It all came full-circle.

Yasha: 

Breaking news, local barbarian can crush opals with her bare biceps!

Holy Avenger majestic HDWYTDT hype!

Did not forget to give Capeleb a scritch (Yasha and polymorph Caleb dynamic my beloved).

Continuing to rage and stab the salamanders after they drop dead was so funny and amazing. No trust given at all lol.

Love the interactions with Beau as always (go get some Yasha)

Essek: 

Using Magnify Gravity to attempt pulling down the salamander and holding it in place for the rest of the party to attack, being a helpful team player as always. 

He is getting more and more comfortable around the M9 and I love it, even admitting to liking simple soups/stew - a man of great taste. 

He said it, he said the F word. 

His excitement upon seeing the tower and the careful exploration/admiration of it was great. He seems much more happy and relaxed now, good for him.

The conversation at the top of the tower also helped develop his character.

“I’m pretty sure, young man” lol Essek I see how it is.

What a wonderful episode that has everything I ever wanted: simple combat, strategic planning (that actually works and pays off big time), role playing, making choices, and narrative-driven high stake combat. Everyone got some really nice moments and I’m so happy.

I was pleasantly surprised with this episode and I KNEW THAT LUZ WASN’T GONNA GET A PALISMAN AND SHE’LL KEEP USING OWLBERT UNTIL SHE’LL CARVE HER OWN SOMEDAY and just...the lore and development in this episode was so good! I like how Luz and Hunter are acting like annoyed siblings at each other and I love it ajhhf (if I see anyone shipping it though it’s insta block 💢)

Beyond however you feel about what happened to Jim.

Like I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I didn’t just binge the whole season in one sitting and ugly cry but

Some thoughts, some critiques, and some shameless gushing. Welcome to my TedTalk.

Soooooo I may be a lil biased because I think Trollhunters set a bar for character development and world building in the series that the following seasons just haven’t measured up to. There was so much love and nuance put into that world and every relationship in it. It’s the arc of this whole show that I find the most compelling, and that I keep coming back to. Of course there are flaws. Of course Claire is a Mary Sue. The lore is still top notch.

Which brings me to Wizards.

The Good!

-Spirit!Jim Pacing over Killahead, repeating his duties as a Trollhunter, and the responsibility he feels for the people he loves. Good lord. The despair. The resignation. They really nailed just how tired and defeated this boy must be.

-MY BOYS. Okayokayokay I’m an unabashed ho for the Galadribros but honestly every scene with them made me so happy. I had my fingers crossed that Dictatious would make an appearance but I was not expecting him to get as much screen time as he did! He and Blink have a single brain cell to split between them and I live for it. They made Dictatious out to be much bolder than I would ever have expected. It was inevitable but I was still so heartbroken when he got sucked into the Darklands, especially because the last scene we had with him was him getting carried away by goblins like a fucking goober.

-GENERAL AAARRRGGGHH!!! OH MY GOD WHAT A CHONK. WHAT A LAD. His redemption arc was hella rushed and a little clumsy (much like everything else in Wizards but I’ll get to that) but seeing those lil tender moments between him and Blinky? MY HEART.

-Dragon Dad. Quality character design. Archie’s reasoning for lying about who he is is kinda bullshit

- Hi Angor Rot so nice of you to stop by.

The Everything Else

-Everything felt so??rushed and disorganized??? and any lore that didn’t already exist from previous seasons felt so flimsy. The Arcane Order and their ooky spooky skull ship? The Genesis Seals, whatever those are? Literally everything involving the forest nymph and why she was there? I don’t mind being left with questions and leaving things up to interpretation, that’s part of the fun of any adventure, but this just seemed like clumsy writing.

-ToA isn’t new to continuity errors but like... The Amulet existed before Deya? It just seems so weird to me that Wizards established Deya as the first Trollhunter when there ARE SO MANY OTHER CANONICAL TROLLHUNTERS BEFORE HER. UNKAR WAS A RUNNING JOKE FOR THE WHOLE SERIES.

-Speaking of where was Kanjigar? We see Draal for about two seconds and none of the gang is going to acknowledge seeing their dead friend again?

-”Without the Amulet, can I even be the Trollhunter anymore?” Jimothy my darling again there was an entire episode establishing that YES. YES YOU CAN.

-WHY IS TOBY NO LONGER A PART OF TEAM TROLLHUNTERS. WHERE WAS STRICKLER. WHY HAS JIM NOT STOPPED IN TO SAY HELLO TO HIS MOTHER.

- What the fuck was Douxie doing for the past 900 years why do we not get any character development for him beyond what purpose he serves in relation to Merlin/Morgana/Team Trollhunters.

- Are we never going to find out what happened to Jim and the rest of the trolls on their way to New Jersey? It seemed like they were going to build it up so much when we caught a glimpse of them in 3Below but in Wizards they just show up and... Jim’s in a crystal and Blinky’s all fucked up and despite the former being a major plot point we get almost no information on how either of them got into this state? Where are the other trolls? Wasn’t Merlin with them? You could argue that he pulled some wizard shit to get back to Arcadia but that whole chunk of time is never addressed! Why even have it?

- Man I know y’all hate Merlin but he was a really compelling asshole and this season was just so reductive for his whole character. He was much more interesting when he was a gross creep who didn’t give a fuck about anyone. The forced father/son relationship they tried to establish between him and Douxie felt so weird

- I thought they were going to tie together literally any of the plot points of 3Below but outside of Krel showing up for about two sentences it’s never addressed. 3Below ended with the acknowledgement that Trolls and Aliens have some history, and somehow Seklos and Gaylen are involved in a much bigger picture, I can only hope that the movie ties it in somehow.

- I thought Morgana creating the first changelings was going to be a much bigger deal, I was surprised by how anticlimactic it was. The creature design was super dope though, that fight was so fun to watch.

PYROC VS FATHER PAUL

Ya bitch needs an art break bc im getting angry about voices existing as i try to keep myself entertained. Today is NOT a god one for sinking into repetitive line work and that’s just about all i have on the table atm

SO! Im gunna do a little thinking about my little meow meows all fucked up by religion. Just a comparison for my sanity and interests. Pyroc is my baby i wrote him for the first time years ago. Five?????????? Whadda hell. Going on six.

ANYWAY john joined religion because of his trauma. His sister died and he felt lost. He was unmoored in this fishing village and looking for reason looking for hope. Hed had his heart broken and trying to make sense of tragedy on his own was totally beyond him. Thats why his interactions with riley in AA are SO good like. He knows that confusion and he knows the rhetoric that’s supposed to combat it. Only it dooesnt work for riley.

The same sort of thing happens for pyrc, only inverted. Loss urns him away from god and religion because its SO strong in his family and not only is he loosing trust in god, but his kin as well. He’s suspicious there’s mre they arent telling him, at the point of his fathers death. And he agrees to, on the surface, absolutely wholly throw himself in to being the second the family and the village need. But he’s keeping his treachery under wraps.

That’s one of the coolest things about father paul imo is like. That slow unraveling of what is. Frankly. An awful half assed plan, driven by fear and loneliness and desperation and dementia and love. Even VERY obvious things like. Taking down the newspaper photo of his young self ‘slip’ by him. I think, on some level, its DEEPLY intentional. He wants people to CHOOSE this. He wants people like bev. He wants people who see him and are in aw of him beating god. Of killing death. He wants to be worshiped and adored and for people to come to him willingly, no tragedy driving them to his arms.

Pyroc also wnats to be worshipped, but he ALSO wants to do the worshipping. He really longs for an element of almost????? But not quite??? Subjection?? He wants to be shown something and for a Great Voice to tell him, unquestioningly and unerringly that it is GOOD. Full stop. And then he wants to spend his life worshipping it. But this booko is an exploration of how….. no such thing exists. And more importantly no great voice exists either. There is nothing wholly good, nothing wholy evil. His lack of faith in himself once he becomes god is him starting to understand that as well. Thats on purpose baked into the lore. The starting point was ‘what if god was a position and in order to get promoted you had to be a murderer. No matter what’. He understands things are not wholly good, at that point. I onder how long it will be for him to realize they are not fully evil as well?

Bc pruitt does hm hm hm an interesting move. Where he takes something the narritve is very sure to communicate is EVIL no wiggle room just fact. Even if its driven by animal instinct its. Evil. And he makes it, not just good, but HOLY. And god i LOVEEEE that for him i ADOREEE that what a MOVE. Driven by desperation and dementia and relief and ‘if god saved me than maybe i can be good despite loving and sinning and maybe if i defeat god then i will be Thee Good’. SO sexy of him. Im really fascinated by his morality. He seems to have an understanding of the shades of grey in some respects??? But if he had a BETTER one with more forgiveness in his heart i feel like hed have left the church anyway after sarah was born??? Even if millie didnt ask him??? That might just be my own sensibilities creeping in but ….. like he culd have seen her on the weekends. He can do other jobs. Hes straight (??? Not totally convinced of this) he could have just dated her that makes me crazy. LIKE OBV HE HAD LINES HE THOUGHT THAT WOULD CROSS AND HE HAD INTERNALIZED THE CHURCH AND THE RULES AND SHE WAS MARRIED AND ECT ECT i know he couldnt have really but. Thye were straight. They coulda.

Im not gunna do fantasy homophobia bc i think its …………….. Boring. But i think some element of??? The vindlegaurd line MUST be passed along and for that particular rules must be applied. But thats also boring as hell :/ maybe i can work in my parthenogenesis lore?????????? I bet pyroc would love building that spell in any universe. That’s the sequal when he goes to magic university in helsin. But yeah i do like the concept that. Anyone can have a baby thru magic its just a time and energy commitment. Just a matter of wanting it enough together. Every baby is so deeply wanted and its mere existence is proof. Thats dope i love that. HMMM to be decided at a later date when im deeper into the story i think. I still havent figured out fully how and where and why orion is going to be invovled and if???? Pyroc and orion are even going to be romantic??????? Im torn im TORn…….

In the future pyroc gets a kid. Ever since that campaign where Enemy ended up playing his daughter im like. HM HM comfort is such a thing for Miss Bitch like!! He sees it as a Good Thing. He tries to bring it for riley by asking to hold the AA meetings on island ((also manipulation. Seeing the privilege he has and being like. Wait. This isnt Right. We have to change thi. And when no one agrees ti shifts to I have to change this. With Violence. I just found your blog and I unfortunately have little to no knowledge of Danny Phantom. Could you please explain it to me in your own way?

A DANNY PHANTOM SYNOPSIS: BY TUNGLR USER LEXX

Ok so Danny Phantom (2004-2007) is essentially a Nickelodeon show with great plot potential, awesome lore, and a subpar execution. It was conceptualized and produced by Butch Hartman (aka “Elmer” and “Birch Tree Fartman” by phandom people), who came up with other classics like Fairly Oddparents and Tuff Puppy. 

The thing about Elmer, which I think most people can agree on, is he’s pretty good at coming up with children’s cartoon ideas. But his style of “happy-go-lucky” #familyfriendly goofball characters type of worldbuilding skills just didn’t fit Danny Phantom. Combine that with his general narcissism and inability to admit any wrongdoings, and Danny Phantom was essentially doomed to fail in the worst way possible. Which it absolutely did.

The show itself is about this dweeb here, Danny Fenton. Danny is an unremarkably average fourteen year old who lives with his crazy (yet loving) scientist parents Maddie and Jack Fenton, and his older A-student sister, Jazz Fenton. His parents are shown to be incredibly bright, but not very detail-oriented and a bit misguided at times. So when they built an inter-dimensional portal to The Ghost Zone in their lab basement, it…didn’t work. 

Yeah, it turns out they put the on switch on the inside of the machine. So when Danny was fucking around in the lab with his two friends, techno-geek Tucker Foley and vegan goth Sam Manson, he accidentally pressed switch in the portal and ZAP he fucking died. Uh…half died.

He wasn’t a ghost, but he also wasn’t a human anymore. He turned into something in between. He couldn’t tell his parents, because his parents actively hunt-to-maim-and-dissect ghosts for the sake of science, and he couldn’t tell any other adult in his life because the government set up a ghost-hunting division specifically to conduct painful experiments on ghosts. So he and his two friends had to keep it secret.

And not only that, but when the portal turned on it turned on, so ghosts from the GZ started coming into the human world and treating it like their playground.

Each episode (or sometimes two) revolves around Danny learning to fight and ultimately defeating a different ghosts. Some ghosts are funny, some are kinda badass, some are super sadistic, and a bunch of them appear more than once in the show. 

The thing is, these ghosts have had years of learning about their powers and developing their skills, while Danny was pretty much zapped and then like immediately was thrown into the fire as his town’s first and last line of defense. So, unlike other teen super hero shows where the heroes are skilled from the start, Danny sucks at being a hero.

Like, really fucking sucks.

This ghost here is Vlad Plasmius, who is also a half ghost like Danny. He was friends with Jack and Maddie in college, and was zapped by a proto-portal the three of them build together. Except, Jack got some of the calculations wrong and so the portal pretty much exploded upon activation. Right onto Vlad’s face. After Vlad left the hospital, he used his ghost powers to steal money and become a billionaire business tycoon.

To sum up Vlad’s character: He wants to kill Jack and actively tries to do so throughout the series, he wants to marry Maddie who he had a crush on in college, he wants to adopt Danny so he can teach him how to use his new powers the way Vlad thinks he should. Danny fucking hates Vlad’s guts, and tells him so constantly. Vlad beats the shit out of him in return.

So, Danny. A disaster child. A smol protector. The show itself started off pretty strong, and Season 1 and 2 were both filled with some great episodes. Some of my personal favorites include “Bitter Reunions,” "My Brother’s Keeper", "Shades of Gray", and “Reign Storm.” But when you get into Season 3, that’s when it gets dicey. I won’t get into it too much, but a bunch of shit went down between Elmer and Nickelodeon and the show ended up getting a hasty finale (”Phantom Planet”) that we all pretend never happened.

So now, the phandom. Because if you’re gonna talk about the show, you have to also talk about the phandom.

The show didn’t last long, and of the 53 episodes, maybe 20 of those are actually enjoyable to watch as an adult. But the show had sooooo much potential. And so many people, myself included, have recognized this. Which is why the phandom has stayed alive for so long.

You want fics? We got fics. You want art? The tags are filled with it.  You want events? We have several. You want more plot points and characters that are so cemented in phanon that they might as well be canon? Oh boi, we have that too.

The phandom took this concept, the lore, the characters, and fucking ran with it so hard that now we have people entering the phandom before they’ve even watched the show. Like, for real. Do you know how cool that is? Like, how many other fandoms have people consistently producing dope content for a show they’ve literally never seen? Fucking amazing!

Yogscast Starter Pack/Master Post

Hello!! I’ve had quite a few people express interest in exploring the Yogscast’s content recently! The yogs fandom’s source of content is a little hard to pin down and it’s kind of a lot of information, so I wanted to put together a more thorough compilation of summaries and places to start for anyone who’s not sure or just curious! Below the cut is my Yogscast Start Kit Master PostTM.

Who are the Yogscast?

The Yogscast is a large group of youtubers who have a history of creating largely Minecraft-based content; they create stories, develop characters, and create lore-filled worlds through the many facets of minecraft that’s essentially been modded to hell.

This content isn’t just in one place or with one group of people, but rather a large collection of pairs, individuals, and groups of yogscast (and non-yogscast) members who’ve created a large number of respective series, often featuring a specific modpack, specific characters, a specific storyline, etc.

For example, Simon and Lewis (Honeydew and Xephos are their characters, respectively) are the main two individuals that started the Yogscast youtube channel,  Duncan later joins them, they become the main three yogscast icons, sips and sjin become the secondary two, and it goes on and on as the fanbase and number of creators grew. This means that, collectively, there are a…. STUPID large amount of different minecraft series that can technically be filed under “yogscast minecraft lore/ universe”.

Most of their series are unscripted, but they follow general arcs or set goals (e.g. going to space, building a jaffa cake factory, becoming proficient at a specific mod, etc). This allows hilarity to ensue when everything inevitably doesn’t go anyone’s way lmao

Oh cool, w. where am I supposed to even start, then

Compilations are always a good go-to if you’re interested in getting a feel for personalities, humor, and content style (I recommend looking up Yogscast Ultimate Edition videos!). If you’re just looking for a place to dive in, you’ve got a couple of options! I’ve sorted everything below by creator, as most yogs creators tend to do series within a specific set or group of people.

MAIN CREATORS & THEIR SERIES:

Lewis (Xephos) and Simon (Honeydew): These two are the “main two” figure heads of the yogscast! They started the main Yogscast channel about a decade ago and started their minecraft beginnings with the infamous series “Shadow of Israphel.” Xephos, the Spaceman and the one with the braincell, and Honeydew, the dwarven brawn and charisma of the two, also often team up with Duncan, as the three of them are featured in some of the Yogs’ most well-known minecraft series.

              Shadow of Israphel –  The OG series! Started all the way back when Minecraft was in beta, as soon as multiplayer became available. No mods, eventually scripted when NPCs are introduced. Hilarious interactions between NPCS and our heroes, and the nostalgic series that most every Yogs fan holds close to their heart!

              The Jaffa Factory –  Modpack: “Tekkit.” This was the first big modded minecraft series they did, and the beginning of the trend of hosting huge servers that almost every yog member hosted a different series on. Not scripted. Duncan (Lalna or Lividcoffee) joins them for the first time, and from this point on, they become a trio! unscripted and a mess. Sips and Sjin also eventually join!

              Moonquest –  Modpack: “MoonQuest.” Lewis, Simon, and Duncan attempt reaching the moon! It’s… in more than one way, a tad bit disastrous. This is the era when the Yogs started making songs and animations based off their minecraft series! (Watch this!) unscripted and disastrous.

             Yoglabs – Simon and Lewis. This one was a weekly mod review that developed into some questionable behavior via Lewis (Xephos). Really enjoyable, not chronological (each episode is independent, more or less- you can watch out of order)! It spans most of the entirety of their time on youtube. Various mods, just Simon and Lewis. (Watch this!) Most episodes of this series end up with Simon blowing up Yoglabs tbh

 Duncan (Lividcoffee, or Lalna) and Kim (Nanosounds): Lalna, or lividcoffee, is the well-known mad scientist of the server! His personality tends to change depending on the context and series, but when he’s with kim, he’s a friendly goof! Kim/Nano, his apprentice, starts as a true-to-definition noob at minecraft and eventually becomes a pro with magics and whatever Lalna happens to teach her! These two have their own narrative and call their storyline series “Flux Buddies,” which involves them trying to cure Kim’s infection of a magic substance called “Flux.” Good Duo. Pure. Eventually, drama with clones ensue!

              The Apprentice –  Their first series, in the “Tekkit” Era. It’s worth noting that Duncan has a solo series in the “Tekkit” Era called Duncan’s Laboratory as a precursor to The Apprentice as well. The apprentice is worth checking out just to see what happens to Kim, how she becomes fluxed, and what the aftermath is, but that’s p much it imo. Primarily unscripted, save for when Nano becomes fluxed!

              Flux Buddies –  Flux Buddies is the biggest/longest-running series, with several “seasons”. It begins after the events of The Apprentice, with…

              Flux Buddies –  Panda Labs! Kim explores witchcraft, they explore several different facets of science and magic, and Duncan begins the search on how to unflux kim! It’s kind of his fault, so he feels pretty bad about it,,

              Flux Buddies 2,3, and 4 –  A continuation, with more mods and more hijinks! Becomes more scripted as villain characters Lalnable Hector and Specimen 5 (clones of Lalna and Nano) are introduced!

              Flux Baddies –  A spinoff, featuring Lalnable and Specimen 5 as the main duo! Half scripted; an evil perspective on the Flux Buddies plot! This series is hilarious because half the time Duncan and Kim are trying to get stuff done, and half the time they’re trying (struggling) to stay in character as the mega bad-guys of the series.

Sips and Sjin: Sips and Sjin are the famous, much loved duo of the yogscast! These two are the, er. Magnificent, definitely not gay at all nope,, duo in charge of ‘Sips Co.,’ the Dirt Company! CEO Sips and his lackey Sjin (<also architect and farmer) are an absolute disaster. But like,, in the best way possible. They spend the majority of their time in each series bantering instead of getting anything done, but everyone accepts that its just part of the charm.

              Sipsco. (Sips and Sjin Tekkit) –  Modpack: “Tekkit.” This occurs at the same time as the Jaffa Factory! Sips and Sjin build up their dirt empire whilest also making sure to spy on and keep an eye on those weird Jaffa Factory goons and their girl scout cookies. Unscripted and hilarious! These two eventually go over and join the Jaffa Factory boys (Honeydew, Xeph, and Lalna!)

              (Most of Sips and Sjin’s series follow the same formula: Get started, joke around, never really finish the series. Even still, they’re iconic to watch and enjoyable to listen to C: This goes for):

              Volts –  IMPORTANT NOTE: if you decide not to watch any of sips and sjin, just watch this. somehow this is completely unscripted, but THE BEST

              Sipsco Space Program –  Occurs at the same time as “Moonquest”. These dopes try to get to Mars. Clone hijinks eventually ensue, briefly. Unscripted

              Cheat Police –  A pun on the series “Magic Police” (In which Sjin and Duncan attempt to jail all of the most powerful mages on the server). They try to call out all of the “cheaters” on the server. The dopes fool around in creative mode while trying to call out everyone else who uses creative mode.

 Zoey and Rythian: These two only have one series, but it’s one of the yogscast’s most known! Rythian, the serious, vengeful, loner-type endermage and hater of science, recruits Zoey as his apprentice (goofy, friendly, passive, interested in both science and magic)! These two are complete opposites but a much-loved duo!

              The Blackrock Chronicle –  Three short seasons long, this series follows Rythian as he recruits Zoey (and their sharpshooting, mute dinosaur, Teep,) to get payback and revenge on Sjin and Duncan for nuking and destroying the “old world” (The first tekkit server, unrecorded). He’s also determined to prove to them the superiority of his magic and the flaws of science; conflict arises when Zoey, his mage apprentice, also expresses interest in becoming a scientist. This series’ events are scripted, and includes cameos of many other loveable yogs folks (including Nilesy, Duncan, Ravs, and Zylus n Daltos).

^This one is a must-watch for sure!! A very heart felt and endearing series!

 Strife and Parvis: These two, another well known duo by the fandom, are a fun pair for sure! (They’re my personal favorite, so I’m a tad bit biased,,) William Strife is a no-nonsense, cutthroat business man and CEO of his solutions company, Strife Solutions. Not particularly fond of magic. Alex Parvis, absolutely-all-of-the-nonsense guitarist, chaotic newby who Strife hires? Adopts? Is burdened with? Strife is forced to teach Parv the ways of minecraftia and whatnot, much to Strife’s chagrin. Parv becomes a very chaotic bloodmage.

              Solutions in Chaos –  Their first series, taking place in the Chaosville server. Will, arriving for the first time ever in minecraftia, begins to explore the region before Parvis shows up, exclaiming that lewis sent him to be taught minecraft by strife. Strife now must babysit this child and teach him minecraft. Hilarity and much exasperation ensues.

              Blood and Chaos –  Following Parv’s series with Martyn (Inthelittlewood) ‘Heroes of Mine’ (in which they explore Ars Magica), Parv finds Blood Magic Items and insists that Strife helps him become the most powerful blood mage on the server! Strife does not approve At All n doesn’t really wanna be involved in this whatsoever, but he thinks parv will either destroy himself or destroy the server If someone doesn’t keep an eye on him. So, Mr. Strife must continue to babysit this now dangerous knife-wielding child.

Hat Films: Smith (Alsmiffy), Trott (Trottimus), and Ross (djh3max): These three are a TRIP and have a large fan base of their own. They’re an inseparable gang of swindlers and chaos bringers, and they’re pretty much all sharing the same single braincell. They make everyone else’s business their own business, as their motto is “what’s yours is ours,” and prove themselves to be the havoc-wreaker of whatever server they happen to be on.

              Hat Corp –  This is their first main minecraft series that features them interacting (aka messing) with other people on the server. From “"fairly”” selling land to all of the other groups of people on the server, to starting a dangeorus rivalry with the Flux Buddies, they’re. 100% disaster energy.

Hannah (Lomadia) and Nilesy: Very wholesome good duo! They tend to explore the magic mods, most of the time with Lomadia (powerful witch, owl lady!) teaching Nilesy what’s what. Nilesy is a just a simple cat lad. Likes to sell portable pools, he’s a potion master, he’s a man of the cats.  

              Evicted –  After being evicted from their Tekkit base ‘owl island’ as pirates took over their home, Nilesy and Hannah leave to set up base elsewhere and focus on Witchcraft!

The following series’, Owl Island and Cat Island, are very similar in caliber! Just our wholesome magic animal loving duo doing witch stuff c:

Kirindave, Lyinginbedmon, and Ridgedog: The last extremely notable lore-heavy minecraft characters making appearances on yogscast minecraft servers are regarded as the “demigods” of the yogs minecraft universe. Though they don’t necessarily do a lot of content together, I grouped them together for relevancy sakes. Kirin and Lying, both mod developers and masters at their respective magical crafts, have a bit of a rivalry going on, where as Ridgedog is the kind of “trickster” demigod, doing what he pleases and happily poking fun or messing around with others as he does so. They’re all a lot of fun to listen to and their series are all super interesting, so I’ve listed a few below!

              Ridgedog: Yogscast Complete –  Ridge sets up his base and plays by his own rules to become extremely proficient at a majority of mods in the server. He’s hilarious, plays largely by his own rules, and often does content with BeBopVox, another gaming and songwriting youtuber.

              Kirindave: Chaosville and Minecraft the Hard Way –  Chaosville sees the development of his rivalry with Lying as Kirin masters blood magic and other magics on the server, and Minecraft the Hard Way is the series following that!

              Lyinginbedmon: You can find the opposite perspective of the Chaosville rivalry in Lyings Chaosville S2. As Lying masters witchery, he and Kirin have a dangerous magically fueled ““prank”” war. Lying’s Witch in the Woods follows suit just like Kirin’s Minecraft the Hard Way.

reasons why you MUST watch legend of korra

listen. there’s an atla renaissance going on, so this is my best attempt to persuade you all to watch Legend of Korra.

SO MUCH expanded lore on the ATLA universe: explanations on the avatar’s origins and avatar state, trips back into the spirit world, more cultural development, closure for many ATLA characters... it’s all there. there’s enough so that even if you were only watching LoK to expand your knowledge on ATLA, you’d want to watch the entire series. you’ll definitely want to watch LoK for other reasons, though:

the design of Republic City, which is the center of most of the action in Legend of Korra, is pretty fucking cool. Republic City takes the original influences of ATLA and combines them with early 20th century western influences, creating an industrialized pocket of the ATLA world (cars! tall buildings! sprawling cityscapes! factories!). Republic City itself is gorgeous to look at, and by industrializing it creates so many new conflicts and issues for the Avatar (especially in seasons one and four) as technological development goes toe-to-toe with the necessity for bending. however, outside the city most of the cultural influence remains the same, which is an excellent choice. the setting has fresh elements without disrespecting the cultures first nodded to in ATLA.

there isn’t a single perfect character on the show. every single one of them has flaws, even korra, even korra’s most highly respected adult mentors, even the grown-up versions of ATLA’s Team Avatar. there is a very low amount of characters that you’ll be rooting for the entire time. that’s so dope!

the villains are multifaceted and their central beliefs are not inherently evil, which certainly sets LoK’s villains apart from ATLA’s.

Legend of Korra was kind of growing up along with ATLA’s audience. it has a more serious tone, and it takes some pretty big risks. it seems like the writers were less afraid to show death and struggle. but don’t worry! it still has funny and sweet moments, and keeps a lot of the spirit of ATLA.

the score is jazzy. what more could you want? there are entire fight scenes set to jazz music. JAZZ MUSIC FIGHT SCENES!

THERE’S A LOT OF RELATIONSHIP AND FRIENDSHIP DRAMA AND I WON’T PRETEND LIKE IT’S NOT FUN TO WATCH. LET’S BE REAL, IT’S SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH

several fan favorite ATLA characters have appearances throughout the show, even some pretty unexpected ones!

instead of a rigid overarching storyline through all its seasons (like in ATLA), each season of LoK has something new and entirely different to offer without each season feeling disconnected from the last. this is because there isn’t a set end goal (like defeating the Fire Nation) to bring peace and balance. instead, korra has to figure it out as she goes.

LoK doesn’t only feature the return of bending subskills, it also introduces some more badass subskills!

korra is an incredible main character, and she makes whiny male audiences mad, so she definitely has my seal of approval.

Getting Back Into Reading

Reading is dope. Straight up, reading is for cool kids and people who don’t like reading... Can be perfectly fine individuals but they’re definitely a little sus. I feel like I don’t read enough, which I don’t, so I’ve been trying to do it a lot more lately.

It’s kind of funny that I’m somewhat of a writer but I’m not the biggest reader. I feel like writers usually read but I was always drawn to video games and television more. Still, I liked writing and I loved the prospect of writing a book. I don’t know, it’s something I’ve always judged myself about. “If you really want to write a book then you need to read more!”

I’m not saying that self-judgement is always a good thing, a lot of the times it’s a very toxic thing, you should learn to love your flaws, but in my case it’s been good. Me giving myself a little side eye in the mirror has made me finish two books in a week-and-a-half. That’s not bad especially since I read the first one, Percy Jackson, in 3ish days. Really I probably would of cranked out more books if I hadn’t been playing Fire Emblem 3 Houses which has so much story, lore, and character development that your brain feels like an egg in the microwave. Also, The Hobbit, the second book I read, is just kind of a slow read. Bilbo likes to take his time you know?

 I think I’m going to keep aiming for a book a week. I do get nervous of setting these reading goals for myself because with deadlines comes pressure and with pressure comes anxiety and if I’m not relaxing and enjoying myself with reading then what’s the fucking point really? So, for now, soft pressure. Just enough to start the engine but not enough to fry the battery. Is that how it works? I don’t know I’m not a carman. Obviously, I mean I want to write a book. Maybe that’s judgmental, definitely is, but I assume that most carmen are not writers. More people who stare at stuff trying to figure it out.

Anyway, I got way off track. Reading is cool. If you read, you’re cool. If you don’t read, you could still be cool. If you read and are a Jeffery Dahmer type of person then no you are not cool even though you read. Regardless, read more.

all six of my oc hawkes in one big thing, i have an au where they are all a big happy family and run amok in kirkwall

below the cut theres “brief” bios for them all (including their names because my renditions of their handwriting might not be very legible) and a little chart showing more insight into their personality makeup

all the ages are from act 1, after a year in kirkwall, relative to carver and bethany’s 20 (fyi they both survive in this au and both become grey wardens. cannot IMAGINE that any of these hawkes would let one of their littlest siblings fight an ogre 1v1 when theres literally eight of them lmfao they tag team it like they do everything)

steve hawke- he/him, age 27, adopted by the hawkes at 8. steve is a mage, a healer, and a pacifist. as such when there are fights he will focus on incapacitating enemies without harming them (force magic and mind blast comes in handy) and especially on supporting the team through healing. he’s gay and immediately takes to anders, mainly because he spends a lot of time helping in his clinic. 

he strongly believes in mage rights especially as malcolm imparted a lot of responsibility on him towards his younger mage siblings, nyx and bethany. he’s protective and a bit of a worrier, though as time goes on in kirkwall he becomes more and more exhausted, and starts to cope through making light of things. post-game, he and anders are on the run.

kit hawke- he/him, age 24, bio kid, and a dual-wielding rogue. he’s bold, charming, and a bit of a pessimist- all of which kirkwall amplifies by virtue of being a crazy fucking city. kit is also pretty business minded and usually spearheads bone pit related shenanigans. varric (who deeply cares for all the hawkes of course) immediately takes to him and the two are inseparable. 

kit is bi, and likes to have fun, though over time he falls for both isabela and fenris, and over time the three get together and become the most impressive trio you ever saw. all kit’s siblings are kind of like “are you serious dude, we have a limited number of friends and you end up with two of them? what about the rest of us” but considering the amount of drama and heartbreak kit undergoes over the years in relation to his love life, they all kind of figure he’s earned the happy ending. post-game the three of them become pirates on isabela’s ship and free slaves in between tracking down hidden treasure or whatever it is that pirates do, and they eventually have adorable baby twins.

syl hawke- she/her, age 26, bio kid but only leandra’s, she actually is varric’s half sibling (though she does NOT know this and the sibling rivalry that develops upon them meeting is incomprehensible to the both of them). so syl is the shortest of the bunch, and looks a lot more like varric and bartrand than kit, carver, or bethany, despite them all being related. 

syl’s the only warrior of the group (other than carver- a dynamic duo), fights with hammers exclusively, and has a tendency to be super intense. she doesn’t really get humor at all, in the rare case that she accidentally makes a joke and people laugh she assumes they’re laughing AT her. she’s also very shoot first and ask questions later, and the only hawke more protective than steve is. her big sister energy is off the charts and she’s prepared to kill any templar that so much as looks at her family. as such she’s staunchly pro-mage.

she’s a lesbian and has massive game despite not really being any good at flirting- it’s probably her sheer intensity. she and isabela have a brief fling, tallis is very taken with her, and she has a rivalry-fueled sexual tension with aveline for ages (the long road is a VERY fun quest to play through with syl). however she was always very supportive of and close with merrill and eventually the two fall in love. once they’re together they’re insanely sweet and have mega chemistry and i love them so fucking much. post-game they’re forced to leave kirkwall but end up living in the denerim alienage.

lith hawke- she/her, age 25, adopted by the hawkes at 9 along with her twin nyx. an archer rogue, with speed taking precedence over power or precision. lith is a lot to take in okay. she’s the only one who’s pro-templar in the group, and is a rabid andrastian. back home in lothering her chantry beliefs were instrumental in keeping her family safe, as she not only knew every templar by name (as the whole family did) but also is endlessly trustworthy to them and to all the chantry sisters and mothers. countless times a templar might have come calling to take away one of her siblings or her father, but was dissuaded by lith- after all, little lith hawke would NEVER help hide apostates, right?

she supports her siblings because she believes that in the end their souls will be saved. (the only thing that freaks her out more than nyx’s blood magic is when syl casually drops that she’s thinking about converting to merrill’s religion.) she doesn’t trust mages if they aren’t related to her, and always advocates for the circle when given the chance. she’s best friends with fenris and they hang out a lot, more and more as the years pass. since merrill and anders both move into the hawke estate (which was already a bit of a circus, can you imagine the chaos?) lith finds herself more and more outnumbered ideologically and often escapes to fenris’ mansion for some quiet. 

during the endgame, she sides against her family and the mages. she basically has a villainous breakdown. she helps them kill meredith and once it’s revealed that meredith had been influenced by the lyrium idol, lith’s whole worldview is pretty much shattered. post-game she leaves the city and seeks out her cousin, ash amell (i have eight wardens so im not going to get into this but basically my amell and my cousland (eve) are in a gay throuple with leliana and its dope as all hell). spending time with ash, eve, and leliana is very healing for her, but all her siblings assume she’s dead and she doesn’t see them for years after kirkwall.

nyx hawke- they/them, age 25, adopted by the hawkes at 9 along with their twin lith. nyx is the blood mage of the group, and is an absolute icon quite frankly. they’re very chaotic, and especially close with kit, merrill, and isabela. nyx has a ton of fun fighting, and they and syl make an especially good team in combat. nyx always looks up to syl and its very sweet, and syl is the only one in the family who never once messed up nyx’s pronouns (everyone is very good about this of course, and by kirkwall its a non-issue, but even lith slipped up once or twice early on). 

they have very noodly arms because they’ve never had to worry about fighting hand to hand when running out of mana, because of the blood magic. this leads to quite a bit of teasing but tbh they pull it off. nyx is bi and has a thing with isabela for a short while but in the end they’re better as best friends. 

nyx and lith are very close. they’re often perfectly in sync when doing things, especially in combat, and have that twin esp thing going on which can get spooky at times. however they also bicker a lot, and obviously clash on ideology pretty much constantly. though this is the norm nyx always assumed they would have each other’s backs no matter what when it came down to the nitty gritty, and lith’s betrayal during the endgame is really heartbreaking for them. 

over the years anders and nyx do a lot of collaborating when it comes to mage rights. they help him polish his manifesto, and smuggle mages out of the gallows. the only real reason nyx isn’t brought into the loop on the chantry explosion was a mixtures of anders’ crushing guilt and his knowledge that if he told nyx and not steve, steve would be really hurt. (however he couldn’t tell steve because he didn’t want the deaths to be on steve’s conscience- anders knows he definitely would have helped if it came down to that). post-game nyx goes on to be one of the leaders of the mage rebellion.

lou hawke- he/him, age 22, adopted by the hawkes at 10. hes a cowboy and i love him. an archer rogue, he prioritizes powerful firing over speed or precision. he’s a massive sweetheart, terminally polite, and has massive ears that he’s self-conscious of and tries to cover with his hair. however whenever his hair gets long enough to cover them leandra starts poking and prodding him to get a trim and he’s always too soft to refuse for long, beginning the cycle again (and after leandra is murdered he always keeps his hair to her liking- he gets weepy if it grows too long). he’s the only hawke i’ve drawn without his in-game outfit because this fucking game doesn’t have cowboy hats or cute shirts with tassles and i do what i want. 

lou also plays instruments, he’s got a guitar and a harmonica and plays the piano passably. he IS the piano man in the eyes of the hanged man’s patrons. sing us a song, they tell him, etc. he manages ten minutes of harmonica in the deep roads, citing excellent acoustics, until anders tells him to stop because the darkspawn will hear. when the hawkes get rich lou buys a horse and goes for morning rides out on the wounded coast. 

lou is bi, and runs around for years with a massive crush on isabela but that doesn’t exactly work out. he ends up with jethann (theres a lot of lore here but suffice it to say its extremely tender) and post-game they leave kirkwall and end up owning a ranch not far outside denerim. lou hires lots of farmhands that end up looking to him as a father figure and its super sweet, and jethann refuses to do manual labor.

I also look out for possible dialectisms that come from Hinamori & put some work towards Hinamori’s personal development; all of this according to whatever has happened to her in canon / is shown by her in canon.

SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.  —  There’s an entire world waiting beyond Hinamori’s pretty face? She’s still pretty much just a baby when in comparison to many other Lieutenants (being the second youngest, right after lil Yachiru), which makes her super innocent and funny. She’s also very upbeat, easy-going, and friendly! She’s such a devoted Lieutenant and honestly a great worker? Super strong with her kido spells, too! A great student?! A very, very good girl, honestly! She’s the greatest person you will ever meet, I swear to GOD !!

Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?).  —  Most of the people, from what I can perceive from reading different opinions and have read through my years in Bleach forums and such, is that she’s pretty mentally weak. Hinamori seems to be extremely unbalanced and the previously mentioned devotion actually becomes... a weakness? Although I don’t agree with it ( mostly because I do believe her devotion towards Aizen was induced and not... something natural ), I can understand what people mean by this. Also, she mostly uses magic spells and keeps herself at a certain distance when in combat;; which people might easily perceive as her being weak when it’s just... her fighting style and body stature.

What inspired you to rp your muse?  —  I have roleplayed Hinamori for over 6 years now? almost 7, actually. I made this blog in 2014, however, I was supposed to be writing Hitsugaya. I ended up changing my entire blog’s aesthetics, not even a week later, to match Hinamori and decided to try her out. Why? Well... long story short... the fandom was full of Hitsugaya blogs. asjhdfasjdhfg I didn’t want simply be just one more in the ocean of amazing Hitsugaya writers;; so I decided to write someone who gave me access to heavy development ( because there was so little content back then ) and fun times ! lil peach was the obvious answer!

What keeps your inspiration going?  —  Most of the time its music? Whenever I decide to focus on an rp blog, I create a go-to playlist that helps me channel the muse’s traits and helps me write with more ease! That... and re-reading manga pages that might make me come up with headcanons, which I, later, always tend to apply to threads. Oh yeah, uh... LMAO! How could I forget? Talking to friends and discussing things with them, also often lets my creativity soar and helps me channel my muse’s persona. uwu

If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?  —  Well... yeah? But not in a bad way, of course! I absolutely love discussing headcanons and getting different points of view from things ( such as headcanons, in this specific topic ) so I can center myself and find a clearer way to analyze things! Discussing headcanons is dope, man!

If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?  —  This is going to be a pretty short response cause ;; I don’t care? I’m not here to really... please others. I’m here to have fun for my own self and to enjoy writing with other amazing fellas. Ain’t nobody gonna rain on my parade with unnecessary negativity;;

If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?  —  I haven’t ever seen many people hate Hinamori’s character? However, I do have seen quite the few people disregard her as the important character she is, or reduce her to a level that doesn’t... entirely fit the reason why she was created. Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  —  ABSOLUTELY? It’s even part of my rules like ;; please tell me if you ever find a grammatical error ANYWHERE in my blog. English isn’t my mother tongue and thus it can be very difficult for me to keep up with fancy writing while also sticking to correct grammar? idk if this makes sense but... yknow.

Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   —  I do think I am very easy going kind of fella? Sometimes it takes me forever go get to messages ( both through discord & IMS ), but I think that’s because lately I’ve been feeling super emotionally drained ;; I haven’t been out of my goddamn house for three months and I sincerely miss seeing faces that aren’t my parents. I did take a drive the other day but... sobs... it left such a bittersweet taste. ANYWAY !! Yes. I’m very easy going and talkative. Also a big, big enthusiastic? And positivist! I am someone who always prefers to stick to the bright side of life and ignore anything that might be the least problematic so yeah ~ I am uwu. Come meet me. I’m cool. I swear.

Smokey brand Reviews: What Is a Man

I wanted my next review to be The Invisible Man but i keep putting that thing off. I think it’s the pacing. it’s kind of funky. I’ll get around to it eventually. Spoiler alert, it’s pretty interesting so far. In the meantime, i finally caught up on a show that dropped and didn’t see when it first released; Castlevania! I passed on actually reviewing he first two season, well, season and a half. That first season was, like, six episodes. This ain’t the BBC, son. Thirteen or bust! Anyway, since we’re about three days from being under marital law, i figure i got time to revisit and review the series so far. Plus, i mean, i need to catch up since the fourth season has already been announced. F*cking Netflix, man. In that vein, pun in tended, here is my review of the series as a whole so far.

The Good

This show is not anime. It’s not. Avatar is not anime. It’s not. This is a sanitized facsimile of what the Japanese do with their animation. Stop calling this sh*t anime! That said, on it’s own, outside of that hilariously unflattering comparison, it can be pretty dope. I don’t think this sh*t holds a candle to studios like Trigger, Madhouse, Gainax, or Shaft, but it’s the best animation coming out of the US i’ve seen in years. The fight scenes in particular are absolutely gorgeous. You can really tell that Netflix invested the necessary resources to make this show look dope, even if the framerate is a little iffy between set pieces.

Now that i’ve died on my anime cross, i just want to acknowledge how good this show looks. It’s f*cking gorgeous, man. I mean, the world, alone, is a feat for the eyes, but i am absolutely in love with the character designs. If you google the characters from the games they are mad cluttered and full of extra nonsense. I’m never a fan of, like, flair on my characters. That’s why i hate the look of Mortal Kombat. That sh*t is gross. Castlevania has that same issue, culminating in the design vomits of Judgement. That game was gross to look at. Gross. This show takes the ludicrously gaudy designs of the games and make them presentable while still paying homage to the core design of the games. Sh*t is miraculous and i can’t help but marvel at that ingenuity. I mean, f*cking Carmilla, dude. Just look up Carmilla in the games and tell me this show ain’t good at it’s job.

Castlevania’s writing is kind of miraculous. As a cat that’s been playing these games since the late 80s, I’m mildly aware of the interconnecting lore between titles. It’s a mess. It’s a goddamn mess. There’s a dope story there, in the muck, but it’s so mired in melodrama, retcon, and years upon years of independent development, it’s completely lost. I appreciate Konami giving storytelling a shot during a time when gameplay was the principal seller of games, they didn’t have to do any of that, but, at some point, clean your sh*t up with a manga or reboot or something, man. The later titles do this sh*t fine. I adore Shanoa and Soma. Their games got the best of both worlds. The Belmonts? Not so much... This show does an amazing job of cutting through the bullsh*t and sharpening that story to a fine point. This is Trevor’s story, the first Belmont we take control of in game, so watching his line grow through the years, with this quality of storytelling, is mad compelling. I mean, you get right into it and it grips you from start to finish. I can’t wait to see where this goes.

The character work in this show is pretty legit. I was thoroughly surprised since the games themselves are rather bare bones and nauseatingly campy at times. Not this show. Nope! This sh*t is grim, dark, and violent. I love it! You can feel the plight one people and the rage of the vampires. Each main character s is beset with pathos and trauma and consequence, for two seasons. Season three is kind of light on growth but does a decent job explaining certain things. Like, this is Belmont’s tale but Sypha is definitely the most interesting character in the show. Everyone does a great job but there are, of course, a few standouts.

Speaking of my girl, did i tell you that Sypha is f*cking amazing? Ma is the most adorable, most badass motherf*cker in this show! I thought she was going to be kind of a weenie, like she is in the games, but nope! Ma is out here, burning motherf*ckers alive and slicing dudes up with ice blades, all the while being her peppy, adorable, kind of bloodthirsty self. F*ck, love Sypha and her voice actress, Alejandra Reynoso, is perfectly cast! She bring a levity and vulnerability to a woman who can take on an army all y her lonesome. I love that sh*t!

I have to mention how dope Dracula is in this how. He’s f*cking badass and, surprisingly, hilarious. His wit is as sharp as his fangs. Even with such overwhelming power, dude is still amazingly human, often time reminding you that he is just a broken, lonely, man. It’s incredible to see. you actually empathize with an entity hellbent of slaughtering humanity. I couldn’t believe that sh*t. A lot of that has to do with the writing but Graham McTavsh does an excellent job delivering those subtle emotional cues.

I feel like is should say something about Richard Armitage’s Trevor Belmont. Dude is dope. he’s how i always imagined Trevor to be. And Armitage is a seasoned veteran at this voice acting game so he does a great job. I’m not blown away or anything but he’s dope. Considering dude is kind of a supporting character in his own show, i think my indifference is warranted. He’s good, though, don’t misunderstand. I’m not decrying his performance or anything. Gold star for sure.

The best thing about season three, outside of my darling Sypha, is Lenore. Holy sh*t is she a great character! I was thoroughly surprised by how brazenly manipulative she turned out to be. Lenore is a f*cking genius and her feigned naivety is brought to life by an absolutely outstanding performance from Jessica Brown Findlay. Ma is on the long con and Carmilla might have some competition to look for.

I like Issac. This last season did wonders for developing his character. His arc is probably the best after Syph’s, mostly because he’s the only other character that even had an arc. His voice actor, Adetokumboh M'Cormack, does a great job developing the enigmatic Forgemaster into a character more than his humdrum game origins.

The Bad

This show is not anime! Stop telling me it’s an anime!

Alucard’s arc in season three was a little... me. I thought he was the one character let down by the writing but it’s not a terrible slight. I just felt he deserved more of a exploration than what he received.

Season three was straight up filler. I guess it has that in common with anime, even though most modern anime ha move away from the Filler system. I mean, i liked a lot of what went on and the character work was delightful but none of this is really of consequence. Most characters either didn’t grow or are exactly who we thought they were. It feels cheap.

Hector. What the f*ck, Hector. What the f*ck.

The Verdict

Season One showed a ton of potential. I enjoyed the whole Dracula arc, even though this was more a story about his disillusionment with humanity rather than how he became Dracula. Season two is the Castlevania know from the games. It was dope seeing that narrative removed from the shenanigans of that Konami narrative jank. I thought they id the characters dope ass justice and the story itself, was rather compelling. I didn’t mind the character changes and the stuff they added felt organic. Season three is the closest thing to a slice of life anime i’ve seen in this show and it’s ridiculous. Like, nothing really happens of consequence and it feels like setup for later seasons but it’s easily the best looking of the three seasons.

Overall, as a whole, Castlevnia is really good. It’s easily one of the best video game adaptions available. This show takes it’s liberties, of course, but it does so in a very respectful manner. The core of the Castlevania lore is revered and embellished with creative additions while keeping the characters true to their game selves. For the most part. I really enjoyed thee character of Dracula when he was around and, oh my god, Lenore is the goddamn best! Sypha is the MVP of this show, though, and i need you people to know that. The art style is beautiful, the narrative is compelling, and you’ll fall in love with the character work. Castlevania is dope and you should go binge all of it since there is literally nothing else to do under quarantine.
