It doesn't have to be a reblog or an ask like this one. Although it can be. It doesn't have to be a thought out comment complimenting a specific thing in the art piece.

Comments like "I love this!" or "💖💖💖!!" or things like "AKSKAJNCSDJNKVJN" or even "EATING THIS ART RN" are wonderful. You could leave the same generic comment on all of my artwork and flood my notifications, and I would still love and appreciate that more than getting fanart and ending up uncomfortable.

It doesn't have to be thought out, it doesn't have to be on every piece. But if you want more art from me? Remember that the #1 thing I look forward to when I post art, is reading the comments.

Now make no mistake! Foxy IS basically the big brother out of the 6. When it comes to his personality and his relations with the other animatronics.. he was always seen as the cool older brother that always knew what to do and how to cheer you up.

Foxy just gets picked on for being the "little brother" becuase he is shorter and significantly lighter than everyone else. So even little Chica was strong enough to pick him up and swing him around XDD

Also I have no idea how old the animatronics would be.. 💔 I just imagine that Foxy would be one of, if not the oldest!

aaaa I don't know! <:0 I've never played the games so I'm unfamiliar with those characters. Are they well known characters..? Are they evil? Are they friendly? Its all extremely vague, but I kiiind'a have an idea..??

Seafoam and Octo obviously met as little kids. They grew up side by side and when Foam wanted to get a ship and become a pirate? Octo followed him and became his first mate.

At somepoint after they picked up Ellie and Louis. Thiiinking that they knew Ellie before they got the ship and she joined them..? Not sure about Louis..

Now when it was just the four of them. They got caught in a great storm while out at sea. Blue Beauty saw this ship clearly struggling and in danger so she helped guide the ship to calmer waters. It was her help alone that prevented the ship from sinking. She probably secretly followed them around for a while before making herself more known and officially joining the crew.

Uhhhh Pinwheel, Coconut and Tuna were all troubled youths that were taken under Seafoam's/Octo's wing. Not really sure about Spider Crab..? But I'm thinking that he's the medic of the crew. Also not so sure about Cuddle or Urchin.. Though I'm thinking that this isn't Cuddles first rodeo. She could be an experienced pirate that somehow indebted herself to Seafoam..? Maybe once she paid her debt she stuck with the crew because they were neat? Though she seems like the crafty type.. She seems like she'd rather slip away undetected instead of staying to faithfully clear her debts.. Not sure about that one--

And Red is Seafoam's great nephew. He lost his mother/crew in some kind of tragedy which resulted in Seafoam taking him in.. Poor Red :((

The Afton's do exist. All of them. They are a core part of the AU. :00 Just like in canon! But as for their roles or where they are now or what happened to them... alas, I cannot reveal such things.. :(

As for the Sister Location AU tho--- I'm thinking that William Afton is alive and well and he runs the Circus.. 👀👀👀

Oh man, she dreams of doing so. But Sadly, she is much too large to give him a kiss :(

Yeah, its was interesting.. but not for the reasons you'd think.

Papyrus recognized Seam and Jevil. He addressed them by name. He didn't approach them, seeing as Seam was very tense..

He said that he was happy to see them again. Explained how he worried about them, and was glad to see that they were both ok.

Seam and Jevil both looked like a deer caught in the headlights. If Jevil had the strength to do so, he might have just retreated with a mirror..

Sensing all this, Frisk tells the group Papyrus' story. Some of the group is skeptical, for the same reasons Seam was all that time ago.

But Frisk grantees the group that Papyrus is genuine. She says she has never met a kinder soul before. That no matter what timeline she may choose, genocide, pacifist, neutral.. Papyrus was always full of kindness to his very core. And that she believes his story 100%.

Grillby and River Person back this up. Saying that the Papyrus from their worlds was a very kind soul too..

Jevil is too exhausted to really process this much. But the horror of the situation settles on Seam. Realizing that Papyrus was actually a victim. They had the power to free him all those years ago. And they ran..

Its not addressed right away.. but eventually its brought up again. They both feel horrible for what they did. Leaving him to suffer alone for so many years..

But of course,, Papyrus's kindness never ends. It never broke or faltered after all this time. He forgives them. With all his soul he forgives them. He says he was never angry at them, he fully understands now why they left and he does not blame them. He's just glad to see that they're ok. And he's happy that he's not alone anymore. :}

I'm not sure if he has Polar Madness.. correct me if I misunderstood, but Google seems to say that Polar Madness is mostly about being sick of the people around you. Being with the same people for months would drive anyone crazy and make them super irritable.

It also talks about developing sleep disorders due to the strange night and day cycle. It mentions anger and depression too..

I'm thinking that the main two issues, sleep and irritability towards coworkers, aren't a problem for Natquik. For 1 he doesn't have any coworkers- but also he's an Arctic fox! He grew up in the Arctic. These strange night and day cycles are nothing new to him, in fact he was designed to live with these cycles! So I think he's safe there.

Now the depression part.. due to the extreme loneliness he must have felt eventually.. that could be a problem. But hey at least my version of Natquik has Marsh and Jack to keep him company XD

..oh wait, the Everglades. I wonder if Natquick would develop some kind of.. Florida Madness trying to deal with those different night cycles and living with those two morons for weeks XDD

Bibi picks chicken nuggets. Jangles picks bowtie pasta with cheese cubes and Miracle whip. Every time Cici tastes something new she claims its her favorite, so she hasn't really figured it out yet- maybe strawberries??

Gerald's favorite is celery. Mind you I did not draw any celery, and he has never tasted it before. But he has a very strong feeling that it is surly his favorite.

wip review wednesday (it is not fucking wednesday)

rb the art im talking abt here to support me : )

i wanted to do something a lil new and actually talk through my choices in the artwork in the post so like if you're not here for commentary. i put everything under a read more!!!!

ok so here's a basic breakdown of what everyone is doing in the piece. or supposed to be doing. you can zoom in on shit to verify if u want

jamiazu: obviously jamil is beating azul at ddr. less obviously azul is sweating because this is actually not the first round of ddr. he has lost horribly in two other rounds but he's not giving up (he should give up)

tweels: they're both judging azul because they know he's horrible at cardio so what in the world is that boy doing on that dance machine. jade is making snide remarks about azul's lack of balance behind his hand and floyd's listening in amusement

adeucepel: epel just won an impossible amount of tickets at skeeball. apparently his aim is really good thanks to some carnival game in his home town. deuce is being excitedly supportive and helping him gather the tickets. ace is arguing that he should get a share because he totally helped epel score (he didn't)

rookvil: they're looking at the ticket prizes. vil is scrutinizing the cheap mass produced quality. rook is just happy to have his arm around her waist and equally happy to listen to her sharp criticism. shes so beautiful when shes annoyed♥️

diasomnia: silver is attempting to figure out the card machine in order to get a play card for malleus. malleus was not told that they were going to the arcade (hes definitely not dressed for it) but is honestly happy to just be there and is volunteering to try his hand at the machine (five seconds after this scene he will break it on accident). sebek is running over to yell at silver for not being able to figure out the card machine (he's also not able to figure it out). lilia is watching his kids from the inside of a ghostbusters shooter booth game. you know the ones

idikei: idia is destroying some zombies in a shooter game. cater is actually not playing. he's got his phone in his hand and he's just talking At idia while idia plays

ruggie: he's actually judging jamil. raising his eyebrows at jamil even bothering to play against azul who is clearly not even at his skill level. bro this is not even fair game

part of my art process for this piece was getting outfit suggestions from my friends so to everyone who complimented the outfit choices in the tags im pulling back the curtains. i have a million mice running around in my brain (my friends). here are some funny snippets (i did not put idia in a squid games shirt. i did give him crocs though)

The HUGEST Front Roe headcanon essay I have made so far! Please feel free to add some comments or thoughts, I have spent hours on this.

ICHIYA / 001NGT

I view Ichiya as an Asian + Latino Inkling, My reasoning for this is that Splatsvile, the reigon that Ichiya grew up in, is Asian coded (also Big Man, one of the idols, is brazillian coded, and Brazil is a Latino country)

I view Ichiya as a trans man because in Front Roe's art, you can sea him wearing some sort of thing on his chest, I like to think that it is a chest binder, it also symbolizes that Ichiya has gone through puberty and is no longer the kid he was back then.

Ikkan was really only close to Ichiya, I could speculate that they were friends, or that Ikkan just wanted to push Ichiya's music potential.

Is Ichiya at fault or Ikkan that Squid Squad disbanded? My theory is that both sides have flaws. Ikkan is distant towards the others who also have potential, with Namida's synth skills and Murasaki's drums. Dismissing their skills as just a fad is a bit disheartening. Along with the fact that Ichiya doesn't know about music theory.

Ichiya is... selfish and stubborn. He's got to be the one on vocals. Ichiya would probably not listen at all to Ikkan's remarks and just dismiss them. And that's what led to the end of Squid Squad.

I imagine that Ichiya is a bit snobby and passive aggressive during Squid Squad. (The Inkopolis virus got to him)

For Front Roe... how did he get Namida and Murasaki on Front Roe? Are they ok good terms? Me, I think they would talk things out as adults.

In the front Roe art, Ichiya is looking up while the others aren't, (and then there's Getta, I don't know where his eyes, if he even has eyes are. He could be staring up or at Ichiya or something)

Looking up could mean making social contact with someone (which is what he's going with Nami and Murasaki) or improving (this note will come back later)

this could mean that Ichiya has some dreams that he wishes to accomplish (haha get it cause dreams? night?)

This is the sad part... Ichiya's childhood is... not good to say the least. I will let you all fill in the gaps.

NAMIDA / 002WSB

Namida is looking down in the Front Roe art, which could indicate that he is either signalling submission or is feeling guilty. I imagine he was the first to be recruited, hence why he's the second.

Ikkan criticized the other members of Squid Squad, saying they were yes men. And being a yes man in a social setting is... not very good.

I draw him with a darker skin tone nowadays because He knows a lot about jazz theory, and jazz originated from black people! It would make a lot more sense, while also adding more diversity, cause Inklings can also be dark skinned.

"Now explain why you made Namida a trans man"

It's in the eyebrows. Namida's Eyebrows look more like the inkling girl's big eyebrow style, but when you look at the Front Roe art, the eyebrows look more like the inkling boy's eyebrows.

MURASAKI / 003SOY

Murasaki has a bit of a learning disability, which could explain why they never got the hang of more advanced drumming until post Squid Squad.

People used to call street kids or poor children on the street, Urchins. Or at least in the USA they did that. Murasaki is an Urchin. See what I'm saying?

In Squid Squad, Murasaki used to get lots of remarks for not being a squid while in a band named squid squad and that made them feel kind of awful.

The reason why they stayed is because drumming is their passion, and because of Ichiya's rockstar charm or something. (ok but what did they sea in Ichiya)

I imagine Murasaki is patting the couch, gesturing Getta to join along with them on the couch, making him feel more welcomed.

Murasaki looks like they're giving Ichiya the side eye, it could be a bit of a sign of irritation, and honestly with Ichiya's record of unhealthy friendships, I am not surprised. (please Nintendo have them talk through their problems I'm going to throw up if they break off)

I imagine that they like the Splatlands more compared to Inkadia/Inkopolis because the Splatlands seem more accepting of other species. (I mean, now you don't have the option of girl/boy, now it's "choose your style")

GETTA GUY / 004CLM

There is a phenomenon where people over time will like the older music of a band more than the newer ones, and that is where some of Getta's haters come from.

The good thing is that Squids forget things easily, so to an outsider they would go "the bassist is cool looking" and then immediately look somewhere else that hooks their attention.

However, with news being a thing in Splatoon, they're... going to remember more often. Oof.

I think that Getta has a bit of a one-sided hatred with Ikkan due to this but it's not really Ikkan's fault that Squid Squad got really popular.

To make things even funnier, Getta's strongest soilders are having massive beef with squid squad fans.

"A 'getta guy' can be a term used to describe someone who seeks out people that recently left a relationship."

Why do they matter?

Well, the break up of Squid Squad happened. And then Getta swooped in as the bassist. (Yes this is where the freaky jokes came from)

"The reason they started over as a masked band might be because they want audiences to look past their popularity and judge them for what they're capable of now."

Their past is something that is possibly going to haunt them for the rest of their lives, but they want people to sea a better, improved side of them. As a kid, I had plenty of unhealthy relationships but It does not define who I am now.

They're all in rough spots, but they still form a band. They're still as colorful as ever.

Big confession time

After seeing @mrultra100 's post regarding his stance to JT, I decided to come clean with something. Be warned though, this is gonna be a long one.

As he pointed out in his post, JT is pretty much dead, given with the history. Even the fandom seems to be dead.

But here's the thing. I'm incredibly stubborn to believe in that. Mostly because, this show holds a very special heart to me. I remember watching it a lot on Nickelodeon as a kid and being mesmerised by everything. Sure, I also remember watching Spongebob and TLA as well and I do remember them fondly, but somehow, Johnny Test, despite its budget cuts and mixed seasons, has enticed me to such a degree, it influenced me to create art and stuff.

Keep in mind, I'm autistic, so my connection to my hyperfixations are incredibly deep. And while I have other stuff, I enjoy, such as Winx Club, The Penguins of Madagascar, Kamen Rider, etc., Johnny Test is the one, I'm really obsessed with. I couldn't stop smiling, everytime I see the characters, love the dynamic and the character himself, Johnny, has resonated with me to have fun. (He is my Nr. 1 favourite character BTW)

In the beginning, I was very secretive online, since at the time, the hatedom was really huge. Not to mention, my artworks back then were....pretty terrible. But as time went on and opinions changed, I evolved and matured, acknowledging its flaws and making plans on making it better myself.

In short, this show made me into what I am today. There is a reason, why I'm known as the queen of Johnny Test.

Besides, I keep bringing up attention to the series by making lots of fanart, stories, headcanons, cosplay and even a spinoff concept, I really want to make it official, when I get into the animation industry. This is when I do the most unconventional method of doing lots of crossover stuff with JT, mostly with Winx, but also with other shows and media as well. I did MLP, Sonic and the list doesn't stop there.

It may sounds odd, but this, along with talking about the series online and making more fanmade content, are the only methods for me to spread about its existence, while also connecting with my friends. Shoutout to @arti-squid , @rominadrawsart16 , Oreostuffing11, @thetickler85 and @akcartoonist2004 for being the most awesome JT moots ever!

As for my plans for "Johnny Test - Power Up!", I have plans of more content. I have yet to draw Dukey and the remaining two new characters, while also planning to do concept art of the other characters, locations, lore, etc. Basically creating a very detailed show concept to pitch to studios and hopefully, getting the rights of the series for a new chance.

And as for the Prismaverse, it'll also develop further as well. Like I have more plans for more headcanons, stories, friendships and artworks for the cast and even plans on expanding it further by adding more series, I'm interested with.

All of this may sound really farfetched, but this show really defined me to keep evolving, experimenting and believing in myself and my dreams. I found new friends along the way, while also fighting some hardships in my life at the same time.

Just because the series and by extention, the community is dead by a majority of people, that doesn't mean, it's fully dead. There is still a spark, waiting to be blossomed to a inferno. In other words, as long as there are dedicated fans like me and my friends, that spark will last to the end of time.

In short, never give up your obsessions and dreams, even when there is doubt. Keep doing, what makes you happy.

Fun facts abt residents & castle trio according to Ikevamp Radio (ヴァンなま) Part 6

Episode 23: It's backkk!!

(I decided to put timestamps so ppl can watch/skip certain sections if they want to)

So apparently Morishi has officially taken over Makki’s role as MC as Makki is nowhere to be found haha.

Anyways we literally have 3 special guests in this video Horie Kazuma (Comte’s VA), Kamio Shinichiro (Faust’s VA), and Kijima Ryuichi (Charles’s VA) bc they’re celebrating Comte’s JP route release & the start of Act 2 of the game

Kijima & Morishi gives off the same vibes lol

Morishi introduces Faust’s character profile. The four start talking abt how if there was a person like Faust irl, they would not want to be friends w him even when he is good-looking

(38:00) There’s a new (?) segment called “Faust & Charles, What would you do?” where you (MC) are placed alone w Charles/Faust in a certain situation, and then the VAs will say the line out

The situation for Faust’s is… “you are falsely accused of stealing an art piece in a museum and are feeling down. Watching you, Faust says something to you. What does he say?” the options that the audience votes for are 1. “If you are feeling guilty for your crimes, I’ll listen to what you have to say… Haha, I’m kidding. If you continue to look so down, I’ll bully you even more” 2. “I know that you are innocent, but your struggling expression is nice, too” 3. “It’s cheap! It’s cheap! The tuna’s cheap! Miss, if you have time to contemplate, go buy our tuna!” If the people can vote on the correct answer, the VA will say the line, but if they choose the wrong line, Horie will say the line instead (not as Comte but as a random dude)

(41:20) Option 2 was chosen, and it was not the correct, so Horie said funnily lol. Kamio says that the viewers are kinda dumb (baka)

(42:58) Morishi has Kamio say Faust’s line, so he says line 1 anyways

So apparently, there’s a second situation haha. Setting #2 is “It’s been around an hour deciding which glasses would fit you the most. You can’t decide which one would be the best. Faust says one thing while watching you struggle. What does he say?”

The options are 1. “It's cheap! It’s cheap! The squid’s cheap! What about you use the squid-ring-fries as your glasses?” 2. “What about it? It’s one possibility to match glasses with me” 3. “How long are you going to ponder on for? Your face will not change, so just be who you naturally are”

(45:34) The chosen line is… the third one!! Kamio says it yayy!!

(46:24) Onto Charles’s situation #1!! “An illness? It might be the flu… You’re not at your best and you zone out for a bit. Watching you, Charles tells you something. What does he say?” 1. “Are you okay? Here, come on my bed. Lay down, I’ll give you a hug… I’ll warm you up.” 2. “You’re sick? Then I’ll catch it for you. Get better soon” 3. “Why’re you catching a cold! If you have the time to catch a cold, you should finish making this sashimi!”

Horie will be reading the line if the audience chooses the incorrect one. (I feel like Kijima will be reading the legit one either way lol)

(48:30) The chosen one was… the first one!! Which was the correct one, therefore we get good voice lines :))

(49:13) Horie says the sashimi line haha

(49:45) Situation no 2 is “You’re eating out with Charles. You casually say ‘What really is love…?’ Replying, Charles says something. What does he say?” 1. “Hmm… I don’t really know, but is it love when I want to eat you? I don’t mind if you take a bite off of me.” 2. “What is love? Why don’t you try to find the answer… with my body.” (OMG I CANT THERES NO WAY I TYPED THAT lemme wash my hands and eyes) 3. “What is love? I don’t know. Go ask Nishino Kana or something! You wanna see me so much that you’re shaking? Then I’m shaking all year! I’m dying from the cold in the summer!” HAHAHA

(51:17) the correct answer was… answer 1!! Which was chosen as well

(51:57) Horie’s version AHHAHAHH he says line 3 he’s so funny

We get more lines from the two VAs since we got them correct (ignoring the mistake on Faust’s first one) (53:02) Faust says “Hmm? You have good instincts. I’m more curious about you. I’ll adore you like a guinea pig, so just roll around on my palm.” (53:57) Charles’s line “I had a feeling you were able to understand me. From now on, let’s spend a lot of time together. And then… you can love me even more”

(58:39) “I love yu” segment woooo. It’s a conversation between Faust and Charles, so no Sebas or Comte. (Wait they have baths at the castle?? Why am I surprised at this point)

Charles: “Doctor~ Would you like me to wash your back?” Faust: “I’ll be leaving” Charles: “Wait! Wait! Since we're together, let’s hang out.” Faust: “...How many times have you done that when I’ve been bathing? There are others who are willing to spend the night with you or hang out with.”

Charles: “Sigh, I had a feeling you were going to say that, so I’ve hidden the Doctor's clothes. If you leave the bath, you’ll be out naked” Faust: “Doing something without my permission… Well, the only people living here are men, so a single towel would do. I’ll be leaving.”

Charles: “Wait! I got a message from Lord Vlad. He said ‘It’s the first time this castle’s bath-situation will be released. Be nice to the young ladies across the screen’” (So Vlad’s like Sebas that he can break the 4th wall… hmmmm) Faust: “‘the ladies across the screen?’ Oh, so that’s what that means. That old goat has finally gone senile, hasn’t he?” (the way Faust calls Vlad an old goat “じじい” is way ruder than I thought he says in Eng) Charles: “Kings are a bit different than us, so I don’t know what he’s saying either.”

Faust: “By the way, Charles, I smell a hint of blood on you. Did you attack someone today?” Charles: “I didn’t attack them! I just bit them and made them feel good.” Faust: “to feed off of them as an act of service…” Charles: “To me, that’s the same thing as an act of love. When do you feed off others, Doctor?” Faust: “When I feel like it, I’ll look for an opening and bite. That’s all. If they have interesting traits, then more the reason” (“interesting traits” may not be a good translation. Faust said 捕食対象 which is like traits of prey, kind of?? A bit difficult to translate)

Charles: “I’m curious what kind of person the Doctor's attracted to…”

And ooo boy, I rub my hands together with evil intent.

TL:DR: 4 does not have the best family situation and Marie takes them in after finding out.

Alrighty so to start, my 4 (Their name is Finch [He/They]) comes from around the Calamari County area. Now Finch's family, mainly their parents, are basically just never around (still working on it but I imagine that they still pay for the house, as they treat it like a vacation home incase they want to go back there from time to time; they do show up on rare occasion but it's not enough.)

Worry not though as Finch has a sister (Named Robin [She/They], she is 7 years older than Finch) who basically took care of him since he hatched and was a little larvae guy. Since Robin was the primary guardian figure in Finchs life growing up, he never cared about his actual parents being absent and thus is not emotional about them. Robin is different however but we are still working on that.

Time goes by and now Finch is 11 and Robin is 18. However at this point Robin has to leave and go to college/uni but cannot take Finch with her for a few reasons. So Finch is left back at calamari county for the next 3-ish years till he eventually goes to inkopolis for high school (being now 14). The time he leaves and is at the station is the same time that Marie is heading back to Inkopolis after finding out, on her trip visiting her parents, that Callie is missing (if you've read the squid sisters stories). Shes not in the best state of mind but Finch does try to talk to her (he doesn't know who she is), because Finch is the poster child of weird little kid. He is so strange, silly and random, he would be that kid who'd randomly stare at you in public.

Anyways few days go by, Marie is now in the square looking for someone to help her out and wouldn't you know it, Finch is there too. Both have the reaction of "oh it's that person." But in their own different ways.

Finch now 4 is recruited but Marie is actually really impatient/annoyed with him at first, it's not that he's not good or like loud-annoying (he is actually like, the quiet weird, moving to a new environment in the city is definitely different to him) but it's more so the fact that he does not know anything about weapons and since he attends school, he can only work with Marie on weekends, meaning this will take a lot longer than Marie hoped.

A bit later on, Marie is a little bit more relaxed around 4, and figures she does want to get to know him more since he seems like hes in this mission till the end. She accidentally finds out about 4s family situation and from here you could probably see where this going :)

ren has had a number of partners in the past, and so has had multiple experiences with valentines day, ranging from "that was... fine...!" to "DISASTER" :'( he tried to make up for a socially isolated childhood by finding Someone. Anyone. to be in a relationship with, and he'd often flip from completely overdoing things to trying to play it too casual. his partners would inevitably leave feeling some level of disappointed... so the day's somewhat tainted by bad memories. that plus his general negative feelings towards holidays (family shit yippee) makes valentines supremely stressful for him, even though the /CONCEPT/ of the day seems nice! it takes someone with similar social expectations and views of most holidays (hieeeeee. smile.) to finally find a good middle ground approach to the day that works for both of us!.... it still stresses him out though. poor thing. 😫

Chocolate Cosmos: If your f/o was talking about you to someone like a close friend, how exactly would they talk about you? How would they describe you? Characterize you? And how often do they talk about you to other people?

before dating, doc! and v!ren spend a lot of time trying to avoid the fact that he likes me (doesn't want a repeat of past bad relationships, doesn't want to ruin something good, etc), so i feel like he's the "oh they're such a fun FRIEND, i love being their FRIEND, my FRIEND ro showed me this thing--" type, like he's trying to convince himself that that's how he sees me. most others see right through him though KJASNDKJN. r!ren doesn't have as many hangups about his relationships so he's more straightforward. if he was talking to his coworkers, he'd keep things to a Normal level. he'd mention me if he needed to refer to me for something ("oh, ro said that movie was good, do you recommend it too?" "ro and i went to a botanical garden this weekend, how about you?"), though if he was watching me stream art during a lunch break and someone asked about it, he'd fawn over me ("YEAH it's cool right? that's my FRIEND ro, they drew all of these things, look look look you can see them drawing now, they're--") kJNASDKJN. around his sister, though? no holds barred. she's the one who puts it in his head that he's ALLOWED to try romance again, and that i seem sensible and that we'd be fairly attuned to each other, so ofc she's the one he always goes to if he needs to gush. i think he'd focus on my perseverance and passion, but also my art skills, the efforts i've made to improve myself, the "gap moe" between my resting blank face vs my care for others + excitement over my interests, and uhhhhh how cute he thinks i am KJNSKJN. and i think he'd want to stress how much calmer he feels in our relationship. his past relationships all ended up being pretty shallow and unhealthy because he wasn't in the right mindset for it. now that he has a relationship that, even on days when we don't agree w each other, is infinitely healthier and easier... he wants anyone listening to know that i'm irreplaceable to him.

Maroon: What are both of your love languages? How much do they clash and/or mesh with each other?

his are quality time + physical touch, mine is acts of service. i feel like we've worked things out pretty well, actually! when he's done with work, we'll spend the evening just sitting together, snuggling and enjoying each others' company and catching up on each others' days. i like to cook nice meals for him when i can; no matter which ren it is, he could use a little extra nutrition sjkdfn. if i'm in his place, i also like to tidy up while he's out, and with my health situation, i deeply appreciate when he goes out of his way to bring things to me or help clean things around my place when i can't get up ;;; 😭 and we'll sometimes do things that combine all of our languages together!! once in a while, we'll take a night to shower together, one of us sitting in a shower chair while the other thoroughly washes their hair and body, massaging their scalp and helping them relax, and then we switch places. then we get into soft pjs, dry each others' hair, maybe continue with some skincare... yknow. just. spending time really focusing on each other, connecting physically in a non-sexual way, and doing something kind to help let out tension. 🥺💕

Squid Hug!

Not ThunderPride and probably late for Gordon day, but have some FishTank fluffy hurt/comfort instead! I am tired and the gender fluid/genderqueer Gordon thing I am writing is currently not cooperating. I just had a really clear image in my head of Gordon running up to people he loves and full body tackle hugging them!

Small warning for a mention of Gordon's hydrofoil accident but that's all I think.

“Squid hug!” Gordon exclaimed before taking a running leap at Virgil.

Virgil barely had time to brace before kilograms of flying squid collided with him, all limbs wrapping around Virgil. The momentum made him stagger, and Gordon was lucky they both didn’t go down to the ground. His arms instinctively went around Gordon to support him even as Gords clung to him like a particularly insistent barnacle, or possibly cephalopod.

“Can’t breathe, Fish,” he reminded, because those tentacle-like appendages were vice tight around his neck.

Gordon loosened his grip with a sheepish, “Sorry Virge.”

Equilibrium and oxygen re-gained, Virgil was free to ask, “What’s up, Squid?”

“Nothing,” Gordon muttered and buried his face at Virgil’s shoulder.

The obstinate avoidance rang alarm bells. It was characteristic for Gordon deflect using humour to play a bad situation off as a joke, but nearly unheard of for Gordon to outright refuse to answer his questions. Virgil’s brows drew together, knowing Gordon was unable to see his concern, with how he was hiding against his shirt.

“When it’s nothing, usually give me a little more warning.” Not much more, but there was something else going on here setting off Virgil’s big brother senses.

He jostled Gordon gently, “You okay?”

The only effect it had was to make Gordon’s arms and legs tighten once more. His fingers bunched in Virgil’s flannel and his ankles hooked together behind his back. It was pretty clear he didn’t want to go anywhere.

Virgil felt as if Gordon was attempting to press them close enough to turn them into a single, eight limbed entity. Which was a very Gordon thing to do.

But it was also so Virgil couldn’t let him go.

Oh Gords.

Virgil rubbed a hand over Gordon’s tense back and shoulders and just held him.

“I’ve got you, it’s alright,” he murmured.

Gordon was physically affectionate as a rule, always bumping elbows with siblings and sitting near enough to lean on someone. He’d had been that way ever since he was small. The the nickname ‘Squid’ was given from the way he clung on, more than from his swimming abilities. Unlike Alan, who quickly got to the stage of whining to be let down to run around like the big kids, Gordy never grew out of wanting to be carried around. Unless he sensed you were trying to keep him out of some sort of mischief and then it was like attempting to prevent a slippery wriggling fish from escape.

Gordon was always most comfortable sharing a personal space bubble. On bad days he was downright clingy, refusing to be out of touching range of anyone.

Virgil never minded. Not before and not after, when a teary Gordon in the thick of recovering from the accident had confessed to how much it scared him to be left drifting and unmoored when he was in pain and alone. How contact was one of the only things that could make the unbearable even the slightest bit better. Virgil spent many long nights in the hospital and after gripping Gordon’s hand when he was hurting too much for even a hug. This was better, so much better than that.

Sure, having someone in his space could get annoying, especially when he was doing maintenance on his ‘bird or working on his art. A inadvertent knock sending delicate mechanical components skittering across the floor. Chattering commentary interrupting his thoughts. A shadow leaning over his shoulder to see what he was doing, blocking the light from reaching his page.

They figured it out. Gordon would sit on Virgil’s workshop bench, swinging his legs, but careful of where he poked curious fingers. Virgil had a set of noise-cancelling headphones to play his own music through, for when everything got to be too much. He picked up a marine-themed sticker book, because a bored fish was a troublesome one, which occupied Gordon for several hours, tucked into Virgil’s side and engrossed in placing sea creatures just so, while Virgil finished colouring a drawing he’d been meaning to get to for some time. Gordon learnt not to get between an artist and their light source because Virgil’s old fashioned paper sketchbook does not glow like a tablet.

Accidents were forgiven. After a bump to Virgil’s arm sent his pencil scribbling across his page, he was hugging an apologetic Gordon to his side and working out how to incorporate the extra line into the rest of his drawing. When Virgil just needed his own space for a bit, he helped to find Scott or John or Alan instead. Gordon dealt with splatters of paint and mechanical oil finding their way onto his already colourful shirts too.

Sometimes, after rescues or his own nightmares, Virgil needed the contact just as much. Plus, he loved hugs.

Right now, he held onto Gordon, even if they were standing in the middle of the lounge, even if he had other places he could be. That didn’t matter. Virgil could take Gordon’s weight as long as he needed to.

Virgil felt Gordon’s chest expand against his own as Gordon took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

“It’s okay, Vee. I’m okay,” Gordon said.

Vee, another one of Gordon’s nicknames for him. Virge, Virgy. Vee.

Virgil buried his face in Gordon’s blonde hair to hide his sappy smile, brought out by the fond affection in his brother’s tone. Gordon would tease him if he saw, as usual ignoring that he could be just as bad.

“You wanna talk about it?” Virgil offered.

Gordon shrugged, as much as he could when still latched onto Virgil.

“Sure,” Gordon said, “It isn’t anything really. Missed you on rescues lately, is all.”

His casual words were belied by how he held on a touch too tight.

Virgil gave an encouraging ‘go on’ hum, in hope Gordon might open up a bit more.

It was true they hadn’t seen each other much this week, rescues overlapping and running late. No one had time for more than a pat on the back and a scoffed protein bar before the callout alarms went off again. Virgil hadn’t spoken to any of his siblings aside from terse updates from John and Scott’s clipped commands. A rough week all round.

Most of those missions he’d flown out without Gordon in his usual co-pilot’s seat. International Rescue was so over-stretched, sending them out solo was the only way to cover all the incidents without breaking flight hour limits into pieces. Then Module Four’s mechanism something broke, and Virgil hadn’t had a chance to even figure out the problem yet, so Gordon got send out all over the world in his Thunderbird alone.

It was Virgil’s turn to cling to Gordon, because he’d dropped Four and Gordon into the Atlantic and hadn’t seen more than a glimpse of yellow submarine bobbing amidst inky waves since. They’d been ships passing in the night, caught up in their own oceans of sea and sky.

Yesterday, Grandma had called it, everyone was too exhausted and she pulled medical rank. She alternatively sweet talked and threatened the GDF into stepping up to allow the Tracys to take their mandated leave. This was their first off time together in a while.

Virgil rested his chin on top of Gordon’s head, inhaling the scent of chlorine and saltwater that no shampoo invented could remove. Comforting in its familiarity, because it meant Gordon was here and safe in his arms.

“‘M fine. Just need more hugs.” The words were mumbled into Virgil’s shoulder, barely audible where Gordon’s voice usually rang out loudest. But Virgil heard them. He always heard his little brothers. He heard the silent, ‘Don’t let go,’ too.

Virgil pressed a kiss to Gordon’s forehead, then carried on with his day plus one clingy squid passenger.

Virgil manoeuvred into the kitchen easily, then jiggled Gordon up to free a hand for the coffee maker. His third cup, not his first because his flying fish catching skills weren’t up to scratch before his second, unless the situation was particularly dire.

He was well practised at the art of operating one handedly, while toting around kid brothers. Or not so kid brothers, in Gordon’s case.

Virgil put his muscle to good use picking up more than a fair share of stubborn older brothers too. At this point it was really just a ready-made excuse to skip the gym weights on a given day. He could throw an exhausted Scott over his shoulder without breaking a sweat despite any protests, when he found him sleeping face down on Tracy Industries paperwork at dad’s desk. He’d caught John far too many times too, in a losing battle with gravity midway to the floor. Virgil would scoop up the jumble of flailing, lanky limbs to take the complaining redhead back to bed. There was a reason he was the heavy lifter in the family.

Gordon wouldn’t be considered light by most people’s standards, his compact swimmer’s build packing a surprising amount of muscle per centimetre of height. Gordon was the only one of Virgil’s brothers who was shorter than him, except for Alan. Though that wasn’t likely to be for long, Alan’s slight build set to follow Scott and John’s tall, slim frames the moment he hit his growth spurt.

Point was, Virgil had lifted plenty of heavier and less cooperative rescuees for far longer distances. Carrying the cuddlefish around the house? No challenge. And Gordon would always be little to him, that was just the way the world went.

Virgil poked around the cupboards, reveaing John’s chocolate stash. The one his space brother absolutely knew everyone knew about, but hadn’t moved because it was mostly used for family emotional support chocolate. Gordon helpfully took the chocolate packet, with no ulterior motives whatsoever. Then the coffee was done, and Virgil inhaled the steam from his mug of warm, heavenly brew.

Gordon wriggled out of his arms when they reached the sunken lounges, darting away to retrieve blankets. Virgil settled with his back against the couch side, legs stretched out, his coffee sat in easy reach on the floor level. He turned on the holoprojector, flicking through moderately mindless television programs.

A pile of blankets thrown down heralded Gordon’s return. He flopped on top of Virgil as if there was no other room on the couch, knocking the breath out of Virgil’s lungs for the second time today. Virgil just wrestled Gordon into a more comfortable position where his lumpy elbows weren’t jabbing his ribs.

Virgil sipped his coffee with a sigh. This was more like it, especially after a week where he was lucky to get two gulps of instant into him before it went cold. Now, where had the chocolate gotten to?

The distinct crinkle of foil alerted him to brotherly treachery. “Gordon,” He warned.

“Viiirgil,” Gordon sung out, propping himself up with a hand on Virgil’s shoulder to wave the bar of chocolate in his face.

Rolling his eyes, Virgil snatched the packet back. He huffed in mock affront, because he wasn’t giving in easily, secretly glad of the return of Gordon’s cheeky grin and cheery teasing.

He stuffed a few squares into his mouth. Whittakers, because John had good taste and Virgil had dragged him along on the last supply run to Aotearoa.

With the sweetness of the chocolate and rich coffee, the holoprojecter murmuring in the background, the warm weight of Gordon resting on his chest, Virgil was content. They both were.

Gordon laughed softly at the show, then shuffled around to cuddle up closer to Virgil, whispering, “Squid hug!”

Thanks for answering Cinzia! No, you are right 😂. I should not be using older art style as any standard of indication of timeline. That was an interesting exposition. I had never read the CCS manga (or doujinshis) as a kid, but the number of *ahem* works which feature junior high aged SS I came across over the past few months is pretty concerning. On a second note, I was also wondering about Akiho's ancestry. As you once suggested, Akiho's clan might be the Reed clan, the clan on Clow Reed's father's side. From what I understand, the Reeds would be (again I am not trying to be politically offensive but still trying to be direct to the point) white-skinned. Clow, from what I understand, was very much biracial. Then if Akiho indeed is from the Reed clan, how was it possible for her resemble Sakura that much, enough for pass off as her twin? Even if we are to assume that Lilie was the Reed (with perhaps white Germanic ancestry) and her husband (who perhaps can be assumed to the one who had Shinomoto name and was thus Japanese in all probability) married into the clan and they had Akiho who was biracial (with presumably German and Japanese ancestry), it is still very unusual. Until and unless of course, one assumes that Sakura herself is not of a fully Japanese ancestry, especially given that her father literally appeared when Clow died (gave up his body?) and Fujitaka (and Eriol) were created from some kind of magical cellular fission (?). So, Sakura (and Touya) are of part-white heritage, that too from the Reed clan, explaining the resemblance. I am just thinking too much, am I not? I should just let it be, at this point. 😰 Also, what ethnicity does Kaito belong to? I originally thought he was some kind of East Asian looking Russian but his real name is of French origin? What even is going on there?

P.S. Dear God, this went into a very different direction from what I originally wanted to write.

Ohohohho this is a topic that has crossed my mind more than once, especially during the "happy sisters" chapters after Kaito activated the forbidden magic!! 😂😂😂

Long story short, the final solution to the dilemma I came up with is: suspension of disbelief! 😂😂😂😂 Yeah, I think this is one of the most prominent cases where you're supposed to look at them literally for what they are "on paper" and not what kind of ethnicity they should represent in the story.

I'll elaborate further; first of all yes, I've always had the theory that "the clan of the most ancient magicians in Europe" might have been the Reed clan, which also Clow came from. I thought it was just the perfect fit for Akiho: it's based in England, and we know the Reeds were an English clan; this clan got rivalry with the Li's in Hong Kong and again it would make sense if they were the Reeds, because those two families have ONE illustrious relative in common: Clow Reed, the most powerful magician of his time! In fact, it's stated in the Clear Card story that the "Squids" do have lots of resentment towards Clow. The reasons are unknown, but if they were the Reeds, we can easily guess them: he ditched that side of the family and decided to get closer to the Chinese side, living in Hong Kong for a time and leaving some of his magical tools with the Li's. And also, it would've made PERFECT sense for Kaito to turn to the Kinomoto family to leave Akiho with them: if Akiho was a Reed, and we know for certain that Sakura in some way does have a little bit of Reed blood in her (she is explicitly indicated as having "Clow's blood" in the story, and that's so important that they made the characters point that out in the anime too, where TECHNICALLY she shouldn't have any blood relations with Clow, since Fujitaka was never confirmed as Eriol's 'other half' of Clow's reincarnation), that would've ALREADY made Akiho a distant relative of Sakura in some way. So it would've felt way less forced and much more reasonable. Everything fit so well that I was almost sure we would've had this confirmation before the end of the story; sadly, we never did.

There's a VERY terrible translation mistake in volume 6 of the English version by Kodansha USA, where they made the Squids say this:

Please be informed that in the JP original the Squids never said "For the blood of Clow Reed...to be bested by the Li Family....is an unbearable disgrace", because that basically made them refer to themselves as "blood of Clow Reed", hence indirectly confirming they are the Reed clan. That's absolute bullsh*t and what they actually said is "THEY are of Clow Reed's lineage. We can't allow to fall behind them" and that connects with what Kaito said in chapter 68: the Squids checked every movement from the Li family because of their resentment towards Clow (and the Li's were connected to him). I know my theory sounded legit, reasonable and could've made everything more interesting and well connected, but a theory remains a theory if canon doesn't confirm it. And translation mistakes should never be so bad that they end up portraying things in a way that makes you believe what it was actually NEVER confirmed in the story.

Up to this day, we don't have a "name" we can call this clan with: they're simply addressed as "that clan" or "the most ancient magicians in Europe" in THE WHOLE the story (trust me, I've monitored that detail very well, because of my theory). They're NOT the Shinomoto clan, as many people like to report in order to simplify things. I honestly not even believe that Akiho's father's last name was Shinomoto, as Akiho seems c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y foreign to Japanese culture throughout the story. He didn't marry into the clan from "outside", because Lilie specifically says that he's a "distant relative", so he's very much part of this European clan himself. And if we have to go by how awful they are in the story, I'm pretty sure these people would've done anything to keep their blood line as "pure" as possible, without "interventions" from outside, if you know what I mean. Additional to that, Akiho doesn't even remotely mention a possible "tie" she might have with Japan: I know her clan never really answered her questions about her parents, but I'm pretty sure that if she was half Japanese they would've told her and she would've sort of mentioned it along the story. She's portrayed by CLAMP as someone completely foreign to Japan. And with a last name like that, if she was really half Japanese, if would've come up at some point (Sakura doesn't even ask about it, "how come you have a Japanese last and first name if you don't have any connection with Japan?"). I mean, Akiho did "confess" at the end that her true name is Cosmos, and I think that is the only true part of her name that we were allowed to know about her. Just like the rest of her clan, and Kaito, her last name is none of our business, basically 😂 I mean, even Eriol adopted a Japanese last name to fit better, even though he shouldn't really have any tie with Japan (if he's a reincarnation of Clow and got Clow's blood just like Fujitaka, then he should have Caucasian and Chinese traits in himself). As you pointed out, that should be the same with Fujitaka.

As for Kaito, I definitely thought that he could be Chinese at some point: one of my craziest theories was that he was actually a "lost Li", because the shape of his eyes is exactly the same of Yelan. Yeah, check it out if you don't believe me! 😂

The moon power, the fact that he's often portrayed with chinese-style clothes.... Alas, this theory went down the drain too. Or, at least, we were never given concrete hints about it. And then the fact that in his backstory he's potrayed in a cold land with a typical Russian hat made me think that he could've been of Russian's origins too, but that one seems to be even less plausible at this point. His true name is French, so it is legit to infer that at least in part he must have some French genes in him, although it's anyone's guess where exactly he comes from. I do identify him as coming from France, at this point, and that would be reasonable because it would still be in the "area" of the Magic Association, if they operate in the entire Europe (man, CLAMP must think that there's lots of evil people in Europe, wtf 🤣). It wouldn't have been difficult for them to go fetch little Kaito in France, coming from the UK, is what I'm trying to say. But as we never got any other confirmation than his true name (and CLAMP must have chosen a French word instead of an English one for a reason), it's really anyone's guess.

So all of this makes me just conclude that we shouldn't really wonder too much about things like "how is it possible that Akiho and Sakura resemble eachother so much that they could pass as twin sisters, if they're supposedly from two different ethnicities?", because I'm pretty sure that CLAMP didn't go that far in planning all of these details to the situation. 😆 You should just rememember that it's a fictional story (with magic, at that), so we should apply a bit of "suspension of disbelief! 😅

favorite movie(s): It's so hard to pick, there are so many good ones! But I recently watched Tokyo Godfathers, that one automatically jumped in my top favourites. I also really liked Grave of Fireflies (even though it's quite a heavy movie), Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, The Handmaiden (let's go lesbians, let's go), Perfect Blue, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Jigsaw franchise (and honestly, I think the 10th movie might be my favourite), The Fear Street Trilogy, Coraline, What We Do In The Shadows, Train To Busan

Honorable mentions: I think Gremlins is starting to grow on me, especially the second movie because I love that the production team didn't take it all too seriously, I do like when some movies are self-aware how silly they actually are. Also shoutout to The Sadness. Am I ever going to watch that movie ever again? Probably not, it was a very disturbing movie. But this is not your usual zombie movie, if I can even call it a zombie movie, which surprised me? Like, it definitely does have those elements of the apocalyptic zombie genre but turned it completely over its head by making the infected actually aware of the things they're doing but not being able to stop it. Again, it is a disturbing movie, it's not for everybody. I personally don't see myself watching it twice. Plus, finding out that the director has said something like that he wanted to focus more on the "fun and the gore" other than anything else in a Q&A did sound quite sussy to me given the heavy topics and the ways the movie could be interpreted. Idk, as philology and literature major it just keeps getting confirmed to me that most, if not all works of art, no matter in what form, have something to say and they deeply reflect the time in which they were created, and there's always the subjectivity of the viewer who interprets it in their own way (like hell, even the superheroes in movies these days most likely take a whole lot of inspiration from Greek mythology, if you really think about it). Some people have mentioned that the director might have answered the way that he did as to not stir up controversy since it was at a festival, but I can't say for sure, I wasn't there to see the interview myself and this is already getting really long so I will stop now, you can make your own conclusions.

favorite series: Courage the cowardly dog, The Scooby-Doo franchise, Are You Afraid Of The Dark (I'm talking about the 90's series, I haven't watched the 2019 revival). Do I remember anything from them? Kind of, it's been a very long time since I've watched them. I kind of want to rewatch them because of it. But they sparked my interest in all things spooky when I was a kid so I feel like they deserve a place here. Some of my other favourites include: The Untamed, Serial Experiments Lain, Steins;Gate, Semantic Error, Another, My Roommate is a Detective, Wellington Paranormal, What We Do In The Shadows, Hellbound and Sweet Home (I do recommend reading the webtoons of those two, though), Death Parade, The Silent Sea, Color Rush, Squid Game, My Beautiful Man, Good Omens, Our Flag Means Death, Alice on Borderland, My Name, Yellowjackets, Theatre of Darkness: Yamishibai

last song: Ruler Of My Heart by BL8M & Rubyeye & Unknown (Till The End) by AKUGETSU (Alien Stage OSTs) (tw for blood and a bit of gory imagery in the MVs for anyone who wants to check them out). Also can I also just talk about the 1st Anniversary Remixes of those two songs too!!! (here and here, audio only). Just *cheff's kiss*, I love those songs so much, I want to eat them. The story all these animations is quite interesting, the animations themselves are very well done too. How can I describe it. The story kind of takes that deadly game trope (like, let's say in the Hunger Games and Alice in Borderland), but make it about people being forced to be in a singing competition against each other to survive and they are being judged by aliens. From what I know, I could be wrong, the main way of storytelling is through the MVs on the VIVINOS YT channel so it does require a bit to analyze (there is a bit of a additional info on the official website and on the wiki, I'm sure), so if any of that sound interest you, I would recommend checking it out

currently reading: So Long, And Thank for All The Fish from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books. I'm so happy of how much progress I've done on reading those books compiled in one huge book, I'm halfway through the series now. And honestly I want to read it for as long as I can because I really enjoy it, it's so fun, I love the absurd situation the main characters fall into while the big question of the meaning of life, the Universe and everything looms over them. This would definitely go in one of my top books I've read I'm sure.

And I also have to mention the webtoons that I'm reading because I love them very much too: Hand Jumper, The Blind Prince, Lore Olympus, Zombie X Slasher (I don't know in what kind of direction this one would go, but so far so good!), Everything is Fine, Flawed Almighty, Homesick (I love love LOVE this one! The art style and everything is great), Never Ending Darling (I know that it's gonna end in like 2 days officially once the last episode is available to read for free, but damn, what a ride this was. The concept of this webtoon is terrifying), Omniscient Reader, My S-Class Hunters, ZOMGAN (also quite an interesting and honestly refreshing way of making a story about zombies), Nocturne and The Guy Upstairs

And special highlight to: There Are No Demons. This webtoon? An absolute nightmare fuel. I find it very interesting that the artist Nemo Nullus makes 3D models first and then draws over them. I wasn't so sure how to feel like it when I first saw it, this was the first time I've seen anything like it on webtoon, but I quickly grew to like this art style, the kind of weird realism and uncanny valley really add to the stories. And the stories themselves are very scary because these are things that could actually happen, and have most likely happened in real life too, especially that first story with the stalker. This webtoon has made me feel things no other horror/thriller webtoon has made me feel, I feel like I want to crawl out of my own body when I'm reading it, really.

currently watching: Nothing in particular, just random YT videos. I do have some shows to catch up on that I already mentioned here.

currently working on: Mostly focusing on studying a bit more for my exam on monday. But once I'm done I'll be back to doing more stuff here, hopefully ❤️

I mentioned before when I first drew Riff, my New Agent 3, that they don’t have parents and instead have a found family consisting of a bunch of kids sticking together to survive in the Splatlands. I decided to draw The Fam as practice since I want to draw more inklings and octolings and boy there sure are a lot of them in this group.

Aside from Riff (and Buddy!), The Fam consists of Caspian, Sepia, Creek, Wade, Delfi, Bay and Gon. More information about each of the kids under the cut::

Caspian: Inkling, age 18. Quiet and dependable, he’s the one always making sure everyone in The Fam is dressed and fed and doing their homework. He isn’t good with any weapons bar the Jet Squelcher, so he works part time at Hagglefish Market. He’s also part of the Splatsville festival setup crew. He really just wants to work at an office...

Sepia: Octoling, age 17. She met Caspian seven years ago after she ran away from home (do not ask her about it) and they’ve been inseparable ever since. She’s very spirited and caring, and is the one who makes all the purchases for The Fam and manages their money - very good with numbers. She’s a Turf Wars and Salmon Run fiend and the only one who will touch Ranked matches (Charger main).

Creek: Octoling, age 15. A laid back artistic type. He recently won a full scholarship to Inkblot Art Academy’s high school extracurricular program and while he’s stoked about it, he’s embarrassed that Caspian and Sepia won’t stop calling him “our little artist”. He’s good at Turf Wars (Roller main), but enjoys working Salmon Runs a lot more as they’re a lot more challenging and inspiring.

Riff: Inkling, age 14. New Agent 3! And Buddy the smallfry, age 3, his trusty partner. Currently they’re trying to figure out how to tell the others they're tight with the Squid Sisters and Deep Cut without revealing the whole “saving the world” thing. (Inkbrush main)

Wade: Inkling, age 13. Though he has attained full control of his humanoid form earlier than usual, he’s not legally old enough for Turf War. He’s too sweet and gentle to be good at it anyway. He’s very good at Tableturf Battle, though! He’s an avid reader and has a good eye for scrap that would sell well.

Delfi: Inkling, age 9. Wade’s biological little sister. They lost their parents in a train accident four years ago and ended up with The Fam when their extended family refused to take them in. Though soft-spoken, she’s very positive and independent. She enjoys all sorts of sports and loves watching Clam Blitz matches (yeah, I know), and is currently learning how to skate.

Bay: Octoling, age 7. While she technically lives with her grandparents, they’re busy all day at Hagglefish Market and asked Caspian if he could watch over her whenever he’s off work, so she’s very much part of The Fam. She’s excitable and friendly and loves singing and making origami.

Gon: Inkling, age 3. They were abandoned at the Scorch Gorge train station and didn’t know anything about themselves but their name and age, so The Fam took them in (though legally they’re under the care of Bay’s grandparents). They’re a bit shy, but will drop anything for a chance to pat a cute nudibranch. They’re a voracious eater.

8-Man vs. Cyborg 009

Who's this schmuck? Just kidding, I did some background research and apparently 8-Man is one of the OG cyborg heroes to come out of Japan, predating Cyborg 009 by a year. He's called 8-Man because the scientist who turned him into a cyborg failed this experiment 7 times before getting to him. Yikes.

Crappy name aside (apparently the mangaka also had a manga called "Wolf Guy," which I find hilarious), it's a neat idea to put two OGs against each other. I'm sure the boomers are excited lol. (Come to think of it, Japan's population skews older, so it would make sense that this sort of thing would be published now).

Ch. 1

Coming from the BGOO Parts manga, the art feels a little clunkier and dated here. Backgrounds are very simple and there's less detail in how the characters are drawn. It's still faithful to the original series though and that's good enough for me.

Just like with BGOO Parts, they're rehashing Black Ghost stuff again, with some retconning along the way. Series that resurrect the same villain over and over are so dull. Please do something else writers!! :(

Why did the skull-masked guy (Cyborg #22) look kinda kawaii tho? They drew his eyes all shiny and cutesy.

They flashback to the end of volume 10 AGAIN. I guess that really is the most iconic moment of the franchise, but with every flashback it's losing its charm.

There was a diagram explaining 8-Man in the front of the manga and I guess he uses cigarettes as a power source? First of all...huh? Second, that's the most 1960s thing I've ever heard.

Also in the front of the manga is an image of Joe carrying a beat up looking 8-Man. Way to spoil it! I wonder what the vs. in the title is implying? Are they going to be rivals and then team up or are they straight up pitted against each other?

Did they pair these two together because they were like "8? 9? You get it? Eh? Eh?" What if it was 8-Man vs. 008 lol. It would have to be underwater randomly I suppose.

Ch. 2

Okay I stand corrected, I guess 8-Man isn't a cyborg...he's closer to an android, but he has a human consciousness so...he's not really an android either.

This was like, the exposition chapter. They wrote this assuming the reader was new to 8-Man and maybe Cyborg 009 too so they gotta hastily give little wikipedia summaries of what the reader missed lol. Not enough exposition for me to know who the robot bossing 8-Man around is supposed to be though! Maybe that'll come later.

I see the obvious parallels with the stories here, both cyborgs/androids/whatever were created as weapons but their creators wanted more for them. 8-Man has a little more of a film noir vibe tho with the detective aspect.

How the heck is a cigarette a "cooling" tool? My brain does not compute.

So 8-Man is being ordered to attack Joe, I guess. I wonder if he's been misled about Joe's background? He kinda helped him out back there with the cigarette, so I guess he's showing hesitation.

Ch. 3

So I guess Black Ghost's motive is to "resurrect/summon the God of war Ares by sacrificing one of the heroes..." Not Greek mythology again...please. I can't take it anymore!

8-Man's hands kinda look like Mickey Mouse gloves teehee

Dr. Tani and Dr. Daemon look so identical to me that I had to swipe back a few pages and compare them. I finally excepted they weren't the same person when Dr. Daemon referred to Dr. Tani in the third person lol.

We get more revelations about how 8-Man's machine brain works. He retains every memory (either OP or awful) and Ivan can't read his mind. I forgot Ivan could read minds in the first place? I feel like he doesn't do that much.

This manga has a lot of two page spreads, which I appreciate. They make the reading experience more cinematic, it moves things along quicker in general (no dialogue), and it looks great on my giant tablet :D

Ch. 4

The villains from the respective series place their bets on which hero will come out victorious. It gave me Squid Game vibes (but obviously less gruesome).

It's kind of funny how the villains are low key rooting their corresponding hero on, wanting to show off their nemesis to their new friend.

Kinda awkward how the other numbers cyborgs are just tagging along waiting for 8-Man and 009 to be done. I guess there's not much they can contribute, which is probably why BGOO Parts gave everyone accelerator mode...

Obvious fake out death is obvious

I enjoyed the shot of Joe and 8-Man outrunning the shinkansen. That was fun.

Ch. 5

After the battle between 009 and 8-Man, Black Ghost and Dr. Daemon attack and kidnap Joe, Francoise and Azuma. Black Ghost reveals their master plan to harvest memories from the cyborg so that they can resurrect the 3 brains that make up the "true" Black Ghost and put them in a giant robot body.

I'm not fully clear on what Dr. Daemon gets out of all this? I guess he gets to help rule the world or something?

The way they depict Francoise's ability makes her seem hilariously useless. She's supposed to be able to detect things from very far distances but every time she senses something it's like 2 feet away from everyone lol. Like she'll be like "something's coming...from the ocean!" and the gang turns around and it's right next to them. Thanks for nothing lol.

The demon God statue (taken from the original manga) looks kinda silly. It's bird beak makes it look like it's from Darkwing Duck or something haha.

Ch. 6

Okay 8-Man and Francoise getting all flustered once Francoise implied that her and Joe are in love was really cute. I wanna see more scenes of them getting to know each other and becoming friends :D (not likely)

The concept of world domination via a giant space satellite/demon God statue is pretty badass, not gonna lie. Very classic evil guy plan.

Seems we can now drop the pretenses that this is going to be a "versus" situation and everyone will just team up in volume 2. Pretty predictable.

They’re from a small town a few hours from inkopolis, and came to the city when they were fourteen to go to a high level boarding school focused on the arts… (they’re a writer)

They have a very rosy view of the world. Everything they see is poetic to them in some way. They loved octo canyon as soon as they got there (giant sky, breezy, lots of history, what tf is this giant teakettle sticking out of the ground, is that a humongous rock-carved octopus coming out of the ground, etc)

As an extension of this, they happened upon Marie in the square because they were too nervous to start doing turf wars and just kept procrastinating all over the place… the sun caught Marie’s parasol perfectly; they saw her and thought “WOWOW oh my squod (squid god). Is no one seeing this beautiful mysterious woman”

They get overwhelmed easily: for this reason they had a bit of trouble getting into ink battles at first. splatfests are either a blast or a nightmare depending on how much energy they have, and, more importantly, learning to fight the octarians was a struggle and they failed against octavio the first time—almost fatally

Even at a new school with kids who are similarly artistic, they never clicked easily with a group of friends… even so, they value alone time a lot so they’re never totally bothered

A list of people they are presently (age 19) 100% comfortable around, in no particular order: Marie, Callie, dj octavio, Flow and craymond, Len (agent 8)

The pursuit of quiet, less populated places in the middle of a city is kind of hard to find, thus they hang out at octo canyon a lot.

After a loooong time of pestering the snowglobed dj octavio and hearing about his cool mysterious past from Callie and Marie, they eventually got him to crack and talk to them… (and with some help/preliminary knowledge from Callie, they even got him to teach them octarian)

Marie + Macey + Callie splatoon Agent 2, 4 and 1’s Bully Octavio business. the Number One business for Bullying DJ Octavio. (they all love dunking on him, but he’s most likely to actually give in to Callie and Macey)

They Are So freaking bad at ink battling I’m so sorry to all their teammates in the past. Rip they are the worst team player and the sorest loser most of the time, but when they do come out to play some turf, they main blob for the lolz

They love salmon run!!!!! After about a year of living in inkopolis they were Very often on the grind at grizzco (pays the bills cod damn) and

they are absolutely horrified when they get to alterna and learn the. Ahem. details of the situation. from everyone else (they will be grizzco-ing anyway)

Also has worked part time for Flow at Headspace during school breaks

Fucking huge off the hook fan… possibly exploded when the octo expansion crew first met with the new squidbeak via mr grandpa cuttlefish

Now lives with Len (agent 8) in a shared apartment.. they are both big man diehards

They act very differently depending on who theyre with… you’re lucky to hear them speak at all if you’re not part of the new/new new squidbeak (or agent 8)

They’re organized as hell but they love being surrounded by things… they’re a clutter lover

Their hair is untamable and they enjoy it bc it makes them feel a little like a wild animal

Shout out to my Okinawan man (above), terribly repressed under the Japanese Imperial government, all finesse, all class, knowing what is to be savoured and willing to savour it. His presence alone allowing the head chef to save face. The Okinawan kingdom was Ryukyu, btw. (Fishman Island is Ryugu).

And I love the sound of all of these delicacies, earthy, although not filling: kikurage (or possibly aragekikurage), tofu (gotta look up the specification), renkon, pickles, I don’t know the last one, everything is actually vegetable based though, AND I totally understand everyone going for festival food too, though! Oda plays such a dance between patronage to monarchs and mockery of them.

Lastly, we got our Jim Morrison wannabe here, like, his threads, man. I don’t care for Fabio Momo or Fabio long-haired Sanji, like, Ugh. But this kinda unkempt I can get into. Mix between Brook and Zoro, but RIP…

Queen and King—you placed your bets on the wrong kinda Joker, unfortunately. I love that Doflamingo is Joker. The wild card. You don’t know how much I love it. Oda has kept him alive for a reason.

BUT, to introduce a beauty such as King to wipe him out so easily, and to desiccate Queen? Where’s Jack? And is this who I think it is?

Is that Caribou? Or what I remember of him? BUT, last seen, King and Queen in Onigashima, now in Udon, apparently. And Caribour too? Oda’s got a few too many loose ends to be able to tie them all up.

Lookit! Just Lookit! I think Killer’s got himself a bunch of takoyaki there, though could be wrong, and Oda’s portraying the Kid pirates as slightly less alcoholic than the Hearts. I bet he sometimes regrets making the Hearts so generic, BUT I guess it’s easier to draw them.

And Killer wasn’t too worried about Kid’s murderous intent and competitiveness, so I guess we shouldn’t be either. And I think Oda’s having too much fun drawing cartoon eyes popping from the face.

Since i like. Selfship an oc with him a good chunk of them really only apply to my own canon (trust me I'm canonically married to him/JOKE) so I'll share the ones that are in general. They r under the cut

I say this because it ties directly to my headcanon that he was like. A baby when he was in squid squad

I mean 16, itty bitty little guy

And he was a damn capable 16 year old. He was a very skilled bassist for his age and had so many opportunities and offers open because of how much of a musical prodigy this kid was

But he wanted to pursue being in a garage band, simply because it seemed fun. Thus, squid squad was formed

They were all young methinks, with ikkan being the youngest by a year or two. But they got along, and it was simply just for fun

But then squid squad took off. And it took off HARD

And truth be told? None of them were really prepared for this sudden surge of fame

ESPECIALLY ikkan. He wasn't handling it well. Can you blame him? He was just 16, and he was held on the highest pedestal where one wrong move could be his downfall due to how many people had their eyes on him

It's simply a matter of these people being too immature and being thrown into a situation they weren't mature enough to handle yet

And none of them handled it well. A lot of fights broke out over how their future should be handled, who should do what, how they should advertise, and even what they should right. The mindset went from playing for themselves to playing for the people

Ichiya, truth be told i like to imagine he was an instigator, given the fact that a few people canonically do not like him

So naturally I'm saying that he initiated a lot of these fights, and took it out on ikkan more, because ikkan snapped back. And these fights got ugly

The breaking point was when it got into a full blown physical altercation between the two, and heinous thimgs were said on both ends

That's when ikkan decided it was time to leave. What he went in to share his passions turned into nothing more tham a detriment to his mental health

So he did. The whole explanation of "he left because there was a lack of tension" was a coverup made by ichiya to hide what really happened

Moving along.. He was in a really bad slump after leaving. Like. He hardly played music anymore because of how bad it affected him.

He met warabi by chance when he was 18, and warabi knew who he was (i like to hc that statistically squid squad is the most famous splatband)

Warabi helped him so much, he helped ease him back into the art of music, and thus diss-pair was born

Thankfully, they didn't take off nearly as hard as squid squad. And lucky for ikkan, warabi knew how to handle fame better. It's a gradual process of getting comfortable again for ikkan, really

But the formation of diss-pair made him so much happier. You can hear his rekindled passion in their songs and demos

He also despises squid squad with a passion, and took very poorly to the question of whether he would return to them or not. It filled him with a burning seething anger and he had to leave
