here are the small draft blurbs i wrote way back when i started this series that i told y’all i would share. i have a lot of them, so i’ll post them periodically :) this is from where i imagined will and samy talking about each other on podcast episodes they've invited to

"alright, so give me all the juicy details. how did this next step in your relationship come to be?" samy laughed mostly to herself as she fidgeted with the ends of her shirt.
"i mean..i feel like will and i are like..the exact of every best friends to lover trope right now..like i feel like we fit all the stereotypes," the brunette began making the interviewer laugh.
"i don't know..i mean something in our brains just flipped. we only ever saw each other as like..siblings. like we had a brother and sister relationship with one another, but the more i think about it, the more i think it might've just been us suppressing those feelings and playing it off as a family dynamic instead," the girl giggled.
"were your close friends and family ever like..why the hell aren't they together?"
"looking back on it, there was one night when i was like..sixteen maybe? will had just moved to michigan for his development program and he hung out at our house with some of his friends and like..we all had a great time. we just talked and caught up and i got to know his teammates, but after, when they left, my mom..she had this look on her face. i didn't know what look it was at the time and so i was like why are you looking at me like that? she didn't say anything, but she just smiled and shook her head and now, i'm pretty sure it was her seeing the connection will and i had that we didn't even know we had yet," samy explained.
"i feel like there's such a beautiful thing about that though. it's like you guys weren't even trying to be in a relationship, but everyone around you two knew how special of a connection you two have and they were just like..oh yeah they're definitely gonna be together one day," the interviewer nodded.
"i know. i know. it is beautiful because we weren't even really looking for a relationship and..one thing led to another. i always see those posts that say relationships come from the most unexpected person in the most unexpected time," samy smiled.
"i mean you can tell us whatever you want, you don't have to say anything, but if you want, can you talk about like how it happened and what changed?"
"it was this past summer..will was finishing up his dev program and he was like in a different place every weekend so we hardly got to see one another, but he still texted me and called me whenever he could to talk about his game like we always did, so that wasn't unusual..but like i don't know..there was this thought in the back of my head like..i don't even know how to explain it, but it was like i got this feeling in my chest every time will texted or called me and i started realizing that he didn't do this with everyone. really only like me and his sisters. anyways, the draft rolled around and obviously i was gonna be there. my family sat with his family and we were all dressed to the nines. will was locked in, nervous about his pick, all of that. it wasn't until after where we just found ourselves just with each other in the arena and like..we looked at each other and i think that's just when we knew something was changing between us."
"you both felt that change right in that moment?"
"i mean yeah. he looked at me like..a little too long and i was like..oh shit, this is..this is a way different feeling than i'm used to. it wasn't until his draft party in boston when everything sort of..like came out. i can't give too many details, but we ended up talking that night and like..the rest just went from there," the girl laughed a little.
"and i mean, you two have the same collegiate number absolutely coincidentally."
"yeah, i think that was our final tipping point when we found out we got the same number. it was like the universe telling us, okay yeah, you guys definitely belong together," the brunette grinned.
"so is it hard being long distance and like finding out all of this stuff right as you leave for college?"
"yeah, a bit. it was kind of like a punch in the face. we get something good, but it doesn't last for long because will's now states away in boston and i'm still in michigan, but we're making it work. we call everyday and we text everyday. it's also easy because we know how one another works, so we like skipped all the awkward parts of getting to know one another and figuring out each other's quirks because we already know it."
"i think that definitely makes things easier like you said. you don't have to spend time in the awkward stage because you guys already had that growing up."
"yeah, exactly, but yeah, it's been fun opening this side of one another and delving into it more. he's always been there for me and i mean it's like we danced around one another until the time was finally right for our lives to mix together in that way."
"so i don't know if you've seen the clips of sam talking about your relationship or not?" will smiled a bit, nodding to say he has seen it.
"i have and i mean everything she said was pretty spot on and i probably couldn't have said it better myself," the blonde chuckled.
"i don't wanna exhaust the subject too much, but i'd love to sort of hear your take on about the change and sort of realization about your relationship with her."
"yeah, just this past summer was when things just changed for us. she was at the draft in nashville with all of us and just like..it was really special having all of my close friends and family there watching me take on another big milestone in my life. samy's always been there for me, so having her there was really great. i think she said after i got picked we ended up in the arena with just us and we were talking briefly and like..yeah it just changed for us in that moment. i realized how lucky i was to have her there and that she took time out of her busy schedule to be there and support me and i was just thinking how no one else would do that for me but her," will said, his smile still painting his features.
"did you like ever have any past feelings for her in that way that you pushed away thinking it'd never be like that?"
"i think maybe when we were like..12 or something. it was like..peak puberty years so i had this thought in the back of my mind like..what if samy and i ended up as something more, but she never seemed into that ever. we were like siblings, so i kind of just let the idea go knowing we wouldn't ever be like that until it started just resurfacing this past year with her."
"i think i asked sam this, but were your close friends or family ever like..why the hell aren't they together?"
"well definitely my teammates knew way before i did. the first time they met her and hung around us and we went back to our places they looked at me and they were like: are you sure you've never thought about her in that way before? so they even knew before i had an idea. my mom at times was definitely suspicious and surprised that we never got together because i think she was secretly rooting we would at some point," the hockey player laughed.
"moms and friends always know. always trust what they say," the interviewer also laughed.
"i know, i should've listened to them more. even at sixteen where samy and i still saw each other as siblings they were skeptical. especially ryan. he was giving us eyes and anytime we hung out with her he was giving me these looks like you're for real right now? you have zero feelings for her? and i mean i thought our interactions were normal and i guess i brushed off a lot of them that looked flirty or came off that way and samy did too so that's probably why it took us so long to catch on."
"even though you guys are long distance right now, how are you two working through that while taking on this new territory of your relationship?"
"well, it's definitely easier because we know one another so well. it helps that we didn't have an awkward stage because we kind of already went through that when we were kids. plus, samy just makes it easy. we're very alike so we know why we are the way we are. she's always been there for me and i've always been there for her. we're constantly supporting one another and we call everyday just like talking about our days or games if we have them. if we can't call, we send like 10 voice messages explains our days. it's just easy because we know each other so well, so nothing has to be misread or miscommunicated because we already know. it definitely sucks we're not together like we were for two years, but it just makes seeing one another that more special when it comes around."
"that's really special. your relationship has always been really special to the fans who've been following you two for while now, so i know they love seeing you guys finally together. i'm sure they knew way before you guys did too," will and the interviewer shared a laugh.
"i'm sure they did. samy and i aren't the best at picking up clues like that," will chuckled.

Anime only watchers and people who aren't caught up with the Manga, BEWARE... Cuz I'm about to discuss Spy X Family Mission 98... You have been warned...! 👌
[SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THIS POINT ON]
This chapter literally broke me in more ways than one...

This chapter is a continuation of Martha and Henderson's backstory from Mission 97, so let's talk about it shall we...?
So when I opened this chapter and saw a radio...:

...I literally got PTSD from seeing it because it immediately made me think of the first part of Mission 62, Twilight's (or rather [REDACTED]'s) past, so I knew that things were about to take a turn for the worst...! 😔
On the same page, Martha asks Henderson what he's doing here and he tells her that there's a personnel shortage, so he got to graduate early. Then, Henderson turns off the radio and says this:

This is just... It's so sad, but true that things, like radios, that were once made for helping others can easily be used to spread hatred and cause harm... It's just not right... 😞
Moving on, after being separated for so long, Martha and Henderson were able to have another tea party like they used to have, but it wasn't long before things started to take a turn... During a school safety drill, Martha asks Henderson if he's excused from being drafted, and he tells her...:

"It may be that even education is powerless now."... 😟
Hearing Henderson say that hurts my soul... But nothing could prepare me for the next few pages...

Why... Why do things like this have to happen... 😣
No, things like this SHOULDN'T happen...! Innocent people dying because of senseless violence, because of war, it's just not right nor is it fair...! And I will always stand by that...!!
Continuing on, Henderson finds out that Martha is volunteering for The Women's Defense Auxiliary and he's upset by this. She tells him that the ballet company she was a part of is going to disband and her dream will go with it, so he scolds her again and she tells him this:

My heart hurts just seeing the anguish in face and in her words...!! 💔
And the heart break continues because Martha overhears that Henderson is going to be married off and she is devastated... But while in tears, she overhears that the dance is coming again, so this is her last chance to tell him how she feels...!
At the dance, Martha approaches Henderson:

Martha looks so cute here...!! 💗 I was so excited to see them dance together, that when I turned the page, something unexpected happened... I started to cry...:

Seeing them happy, even though just for this moment, it reminded me why I love Spy X Family so much... It's for these moments, the moments that most of S×F's cast is fighting for, the moments that we all should strive for...!! There are just so many bad things going on in the world that it makes wish that moments like these could be the norm for all instead of some...!! I just don't understand why must there be so much hatred and malice in the world... Why can't we all live in peace instead of conflict...
Gosh, I'm even crying now just writing all of that... I should probably start to wrap this up...!
So, just as Martha is about to confess to Henderson, this happens...:

And that was Mission 98; truly such a heartwreching chapter to read, just like Mission 62 was...
I don't even know what else to say except thank you to Endo... Thank you for making this manga, for getting me feel all of these feelings, for giving me the opportunity to share these feelings with everyone that loves this series as much as I do...!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart...!! 💗

@s-rosie requested javery ones but it disappeared so im just tagging you T-T. ok so i decided to combine two posts so i wouldn't have to do this twice. i sort of promised i'd do hawthorne brothers and then i got this request so this is both of them. @catapparently and @never-enough-novels helped with this a bit. i apologize if this sucks, i felt kinda awkward making this (and you can clearly see that bc of the way i wrote things but i also had fun). also, there are more averyjameson ones cause i love them and find it easier to write for them. some of these are also less dirty than others (i also apologize if yall wanted something dirtier). hope you like them <3. tags: @lanterns-and-daydreams

i saw someone make a post about this but jameson is totally into being handcuffed to the bed (or wherever they're doing it).
they both have praise kinks (i think this is obvious) (especially jamie)

Greif (Bo Sinclair x AFAB Reader)
This has been sitting in my drafts for awhile now cause I never felt good enough about it to actually post. I wanted to make a good hurt/comfort but not make it too over the top extreme and I'm really confident in this version of it to finally post it. This is the first time I've posted a heavier fic like this so please head all the trigger warnings I put for this one.
Notes: Minors DNI, This fic is written with an AFAB reader in mind though no specific descriptions are used the pronouns She/her are used in relation to the reader. "If you fuckin' think I'm lettin' you bring a fuckin' baby into this town you're fuckin crazy!"
Bo yelled as he paced around the living room of the main house. You had finally come clean and revealed to him that you were most likely pregnant. He was taking the news about as well as one would expect Bo Sinclair to.
"I didn't ask to get pregnant Bo! Maybe you should've been more careful!"
You screamed right back at him. Bo scoffed at your argument and shook his head, a nasty grin overtaking his face.
"I shoulda never let you fuckin stay here. I told myself the day you rolled into town that you were gonna cause me nothin' but trouble"
"Maybe you should let Vincent make me into one of his wax figures then Bo, or better yet, you can keep me in the basement under the station."
Bo froze at your statement and fixed you with an expression you had never seen grace his face before.
"You better watch your fuckin' mouth if you know what's good for ya"
"Why Bo? You can't handle the truth of what you were doing in that basement before I came along?"
"You have not got a fuckin' clue what you're talkin' about. When what you need to worry about is what your gonna do with bastard you got growin' in there cause it's not gonna have any relation to me"
He spat, motioning to your stomach.
"If you don't wanna keep the baby what do you suppose I do then?"
"I mean hell if I know, I'm sure the pharmacy in the next town over has some pills or somethin' to nip the problem in the bud"
"Y- you'd really want me to go through with that? After everything we've been through together? Are you fucking serious?"
"No darlin' I want you to go all the way over to the next town over and go on a fuckin' shoppin' spree!"
"How could you even suggest something like that Bo? After everything we've been through?"
"A baby ain't nothin' but a liability, a liability ain't a single one of us got time for. 'sides do you really fuckin' think Ambrose is the place to raise a baby?"
"You, Vince and Les grew up here! Plus it's not like you'd let me fuckin' leave and go somewhere else to raise the baby. You'd turn me into a wax figure before that ever happened"
"Exactly, so what happens when that rug rat grows up and starts askin' questions? Askin' shit about what his daddy and uncles do? Askin' about the figures? What the fuck are you gonna do then?"
"You explained what the 3 of you do to me pretty damn near perfect didn't you?"
You countered Bo's argument. You watch his face as another unreadable expression crossed it as he finally sat down in his recliner and put his head in his hands. You sat and watched him in sick curiosity before the overwhelming feeling hit you like a truck.
Bo Sinclair was afraid.
An emotion you quite honestly never thought you'd see Bo experience. Sure Lester had told you stories from when they were kids and scared of their parents, storms or the usual childhood fears. But this was different. Bo wasn't a child and this wasn't a storm that would just pass if he hid under his covers and waited long enough.
You sat looking at a broken son in the body of a man, a son who had never healed from the torture his own parents put him through. The cracks that Bo tried to conceal so well from his own upbringing were crumbling in front of you. The fears coming back to him, his mother's voice echoing in his head that he would just grow up to be like his father.
The fear that it would be twins, like him and Vince and he'd have to watch them be separated and not be able to do a thing for them. Not being able to take them to a hospital just to protect Ambrose and his brothers.
"You're not going to be like them Bo"
You broke the silence with a whisper. You could hear Bo sharply suck in a breath, you were treading on unprecedented territory with Bo. His childhood was just something he didn't talk or think about at all and now it was at the forefront of his thoughts.
"Shut up"
He mumbled back. A usual response for when Bo felt like you were trying to back him into a corner and he was running out of ammo to fight you off.
"You're not going to be like them Bo. You aren't them and you never will be."
You exclaimed louder. Bo threw his hands off his face and stood up so fast the chair tipped on it's back legs. He stood, in front of the chair, just starring at you, breathing heavily as emotions swam through his eyes. You decided to be bold and test the waters, you began to take small steps toward Bo, he wasn't attempting to walk away so you continued this until you were right in front of him.
"Bo"
You said softly as you stood directly in front of him. He finally snapped his eyes down to meet yours.
"Bo, you're going to be better then them. You're going to be a good dad Bo, you've had a first hand experience of what not to be like as a parent, it's going to be rocky sure but-"
"My mama always told me I'd end up being just like daddy, Just a mean son of a bitch who never had anything nice to say to no one."
Bo cut you off, a much softer tone then before when his fear was translating to anger.
"Do you want to be like you dad? Are you gonna hate this baby if it doesn't come out to be what you were expecting?"
Bo look at you as if you had grown three heads.
"Of course not, it's my kid, how could I not love my own flesh and blood."
"If you know that, and aren't planning to emulate your father, then why are you so worried about ending up like him?"
Bo was stunned, no one had ever talked him through his emotions like that.
"T-that was the only image of a father I ever got. I don't know what a good dad is like. I don't know how "normal" kids who parents actually wanted 'em around had it"
You reached down and grabbed his wrist gently. Bringing it up and rubbing your fingers over his scars, the scars that told many glaring stories of what shaped him into the cold man he was today. You were thawing him out though, slowly but surely.
"You'll learn, No ones saying it'll be easy, but you're capable of running this whole town and taking care of the four of us, I'm sure you'll pick up fatherhood just as quick as anything else."
"Well that ain't my only issue with this whole baby thing though"
"What else is wrong then Bo?"
"It's- It's fuckin'" He sighed and ran a hand over his face. "What if it's twins, and their conjoined like- like me and Vince were."
"Oh Bo"
"We ain't got no doctors here, and it's not like we could go stay in another town for the duration of it that would be too risky, god forbid you have complications too. I just- I don't know if I could do that darlin'"
Everything was coming together and your vision on why Bo was so angry was becoming clearer and clearer. Bo wasn't angry at you, he was scared of loosing you. Scared of being alone when he had finally found something he never thought he would ever get to have.
"Bo honey, I know it's scary, but what happened with you and Vince was rare. There's no guarantee that this baby will even be twins. You should've brought this all to me instead of just yelling."
"I know darlin', I should've went about it better. But I guess when you told me you were pregnant I- I got scared. The entire time you've been here I've had these scenarios in my head, worryin' about what would happen"
You were speechless as you watch as he turned away from you and began pacing again, this time without the yelling. The entire time you had known Bo you had never known him to be one to talk about his feelings. "I'm not a fuckin' pussy" He was remark to you when you would ask him what was wrong.
The front door swung open as Vincent returned from the wax museum. Bo stopped as your gazes moved to Vince who was now frozen in the doorway of the living room.
"Am I interrupting something?"
Vincent signed. You looked at him apologetically before flicking your eyes over to Bo to see what he would say.
"Nah Vince it's nothin'. Just uh- She's pregnant is all"
Vincent perked up and his gaze immediately flicked over to you.
"Really?"
He signed, giving off an aura of excitement. You nodded at him and mustered a smile

"I know he had an entire book about it, I'll start getting set up for prenatal appointments too. Maybe we could even go to the next town over for checkups and stuff, we'll need stuff for the baby too"
Vincent kept rambling in sign, something he did often. You couldn't help but laugh at his childlike wonder at the prospect of being an uncle. You looked over to Bo, who was noticeably less tense as he watched his twin's excitement over the new member of the family.
"Vince chill out for a sec, having this baby is so risky. What if it's twin and they come out like us? You're gonna separate 'em?"
"Well all things considered, the pregnancy only has a one in 250 chance of becoming a twin pregnancy. Plus we're identical twins, only fraternal ones run in families which means two separate eggs would have to be fertilized instead of the egg splitting."
Bo and you look at Vincent in dumbfounded shock as he signed the information as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Where the hell did ya learn all that?"
Bo asked still in shock as he looked at his brother as if he had grown another head.
"In dad's old medical books" Vincent shrugged "I'll leave you two alone now though, I should go get researching"
Vincent signed in reply before turning and heading upstairs to his bedroom. When you heard Vincent's bedroom door close you turned back to look at Bo who was already looking at you when your eyes met his. A lighter mood fell over the living room and smile at him.
"A one in 250 chance huh?"
"Yeah, I reckon so"
"You wanna take that chance daddy?"
All the emotions of the night wash over Bo's face as he thinks for a moment then answers.
"If you think it's a good idea, can't really argue with facts I suppose. But there's gonna be rules."
With that Bo is back, the rule making irritable Bo you fell in love with when you rolled into the gas station all those years ago.
"What rules are we talkin' about?"
"For starters your gonna take it easy, when someone comes into town your gonna stay here at the house and out of sight. No heavy lifting, no helping Vincent anymore, no walk-"
"Bo, Just wrap me in bubble wrap then yeah?"
"I mean I could go to the next town over and find somethin-"
"I was joking Bo, You're not wrapping me in a protective layer"
"I can if I want too"
He mumbled under his breath. I bit back a laugh and rolled my eyes.
"Whatever you say Bo"
"Hey I run this town-"
Bo begins the spiel you've heard about 20,000 times since you began living here as you walk into the kitchen, the cravings starting to take over, as he follows you to explain how he runs the town and how what he says goes and if he has to make more rules to keep you he will.
As you stand in the kitchen, eating your snack and listening to Bo's spiel. Something deep down inside you, lets a feeling wash over you that maybe just maybe, everything will be just fine.

Do you have anything about all the birds in Good Omens? I'm particularly interested in the fact that Maggie has parrots on her cardigan, and they're known to mimic people... But all birds would be welcome too
Hiya @havemyheartaziraphale! How's it going, dear? Thanks for the ask. 💕 Skinny lattes and eccles cakes are available to go with your Maggie-related post. One meta about what I think Maggie and parrots have to do with Job, crows, pearls, toxic self-talk, and Nina Simone beneath the cut.

In order to talk about the parrots on Maggie's sweater, I think we first have to talk about the crows in the Job minisode and what the deal with the many birds on GO is in general. In S1, we are given a scene in which we learn that Crowley has changed his name from "Crawley" to "Crowley" and that doing so is a rejection of the "bit too squirming-at-your-feet-ish" snake-like name he had. We can see that he now appears to have swapped out snakes for that of a crow but we don't really know why. We know that this means something to Aziraphale when he learns of it in S1 but it's not until S2 that we get the Job minisode telling us the story. After, we can see more layers to the symbolism of birds in GO. When Crowley is tasked with killing the goats, he wants to save them, instead. The way he does so is to change their outward appearance to that of crows-- because the crows are not endangered by Heaven and Hell... because they're crows. Because they're birds.
Ironically, the same living things that angels and demons are like are the living things that, on Earth, are not usually seen as possessions of any one person because they live wild and free. Crowley can save the goats by turning them into crows because even Heaven doesn't see crows as possessions of Job.

In the eyes of Heaven, all of these things belonged to Job-- he owned them. They were his possessions, the way that the coffee cup I'm sipping from while typing this is my possession. Aziraphale correctly objected to Job's children listed alongside his farm and his animals-- and I'm sure he didn't view them as Job's possessions-- but his objection to Heaven was over a sense not wanting to murder children. While that is obviously a good thing, at no point is Aziraphale arguing the point that none of the living creatures on this list actually belong to Job in the first place. To argue this to Heaven would have been a bit fruitless at the time but I'm just pointing out the differences in approach here to this problem between Aziraphale and Crowley.
Crowley-- through unfortunate personal experience-- knows what it's like to be a living being whom another views as a possession and so it's him who finds the loophole. He can save the goats if the goats don't look like goats or anything else that anyone considers Job's possessions. What can't be killed because they don't belong to Job? Birds. The crows that belong to the sky. They fly free. In the end, Crowley takes Job's house (which can be rebuilt and is inanimate) and he drinks Job's wine (the Earth produces more) and the already-dead ox was Aziraphale's dinner (and the inspiration to save Job's kids the next day via the ox ribs). That's it.
The moment that Aziraphale learned how Crowley saved the goats by masking them as crows is also the beginning of the two of them developing a hidden way of communicating with one another-- a coded birdsong that they make reference to in connection with another kind of bird... nightingales. Demons are traditionally aligned with goats so Crowley changing his name and telling Aziraphale that he's taken on this name that only the two of them understand is showing that Crowley sees this metaphor himself very clearly and that he views himself as a free-flying crow, even if he has to pretend to be a demonic goat of Satan. He belongs to himself but he chooses to share that self with Aziraphale, who is the only other person who knows what his name truly means and who he really is.
The ironic thing about all of this is that angels and demons are basically already bird-humans in how they present, right? They can shapeshift to whatever they wish to be but when we see them, they are, by and large, in a human-like form and/or with wings and the ability to fly. So there's an irony to birds then representing freedom because, as we have seen, the angels and demons are as trapped as their human parallels can be at times-- in toxic relationships, with themselves and/or with others, and looking for the same peace found in kindness and love.
Maggie and Nina are both blended parallels of Crowley and Aziraphale. They each represent different aspects of Crowley and Aziraphale's stories. Their costumes blend colors and symbolic stuff related to both characters at once and it's not just the parrots worth a look in Maggie's first outfit in S2:

While Maggie resembles Aziraphale a bit and wears his blue and white colors, she also has a red head wrap on that bumps up in the middle (and she has an orange one that does the same thing in her scenes with Aziraphale early on, when she's also in a Crowley-and-Aziraphale-blended orange tartan shirt). It's a nod to Crowley's red hair and perpetual pompadour. Her blouse also ties in a ribbon that hangs down and matches in color and shape to the snakes on her sweater, echoing serpent Crowley and his ties.
(We aren't focusing on her outfits in this meta b/c you asked about Maggie but look at Nina in the same scene in the above gif-- her cardigan is yellow, brown, red, pink and black. Nina's sweaters all season long are if you threw all the Ineffable Husbands' colors onto the same garment.)
If you notice, the parrots on Maggie's sweater are upside down and their tails are actually right-side-up hissing snakes. Overlaid between them and connecting them are daisies, which is actually an wordplay thing related to the etymology of Maggie's name. Maggie comes from Margaret, which means "pearl", as it comes from the Latin word for what we today refer to as "pearl", which is margarita. The daisy's formal name is "F. Marguerite" and is named as such because of daisies being seen as "the pearls of flowers."
Almost all of the possible nicknames or variants for Margaret/Marguerite/Margarita are also featured in Good Omens at different times to date, with the exception so far of "Rita." [Though they have cast Harry Potter's Rita Skeeter lol but that doesn't count.] Maggie uses the most common one as her first name. "Daisy" is also sometimes a nickname for Margaret, in keeping with the etymology I mentioned above. Fraulein Greta Kleinschmidt's first name is a nickname for Margareta; the French restaurant on Whickber Street is named Marguerite's. Aziraphale's magic words, one level of which is with relation to his and Crowley's relationship, also has a sly use of another, common nickname for Margaret, with an oyster-ish connotation, among other things:
"Bananafish, gorilla, shoelace, with a dash of nutmeg."
A pearl is a gem produced by the combination of outside matter mixing into the nacre within a closed shell of a mollusk or other bivalve, especially that of the oyster. Oysters, of course, have relevance to Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship, as they are the focal point of their conversation in Rome, which is pretty heavily suggested (in that scene and others) to be when they started sleeping together.

Maggie is also seen wearing her namesake pearls during The Ball and into the Final 15, when Aziraphale puts her in what appears to be a pearl-buttoned (and maybe pearl-trimmed) blouse. She is memorably wearing that when some other visual wordplay comes into being-- when she becomes a bird (in the sense of slang for English woman) who gives Shax "the bird":

Maggie's other sweater, worn after the parrot/daisy/snakes and during her Crowley-arranged kinda-Vavoom, is mustard in color and features two women and music notes in the same, dual positions of the parrot/daisy/snakes on her first sweater. It draws a comparison between being a bird in the human sense-- a woman, a person-- and being a bird and a snake and a daisy and a pearl... it's a nod, imo, to GO's comparison of other living things that exist in nature to the experiences of the human and human-like characters in a way that a certain Nina Simone song does to beautiful effect, as we'll look at in a second.
Parrots are among the world's most caged birds, though. They're fascinating and kind of eerie because, as you pointed out in your Ask, they have the ability to mimic people. (So can some crows, btw.) Parrots are unique among birds because they actually lack the ability to distinguish between birds and other living creatures. Most birds know the bird songs of their kinds and sing them to one another. Parrots, crows, mynah birds and a couple of others are capable of learning to imitate it and the reason why they do is as a survival imperative.
In the wild, birds like parrots flock together and trade off responsibilities. Sometimes, they're looking for food; sometimes, they're safe-guarding the flock. It's impossible for one parrot to survive on their own so they use their vocal skills to fit in with the flock. This is why parrots are chatty and why they'll try to imitate the words of people in a household (and just any sounds around them) if they're kept as a pet-- they're trying to fit in to survive. They just don't see any difference between other parrots and other beings, including humans-- it's just all the same flock.

One of S2's biggest surprises is that when the events of The Meeting Ball reveal to Maggie and Nina that Crowley and Aziraphale are not technically human, Maggie takes it surprisingly well. (Nina, out of fucks to give about anything and deciding to throw her lot in with Maggie, is also game once she decides to stay and join this weird af family.) The reason why Maggie doesn't care what species, exactly, Aziraphale is is because she already knows what's in his heart.
He's always been good to her. He's like her family. He's a kind person and her friend and he's in trouble. Maggie does for Aziraphale what he's always done for her-- try to make him feel like he's not alone. Whoever the people are at the door are, Maggie is willing to help and, for the first time in the series-- because of Maggie-- we have the supernatural and the human beings teaming up. It's her and Nina and Gabriel that are protecting the upstairs private residence of the bookshop and keeping the demons from getting in there. They stand up for Aziraphale and they do so because of Maggie's decision that they should. She parrots the kindness that Aziraphale taught her and accepts him and his partner and his weird angel brother lol as all part of the same flock with no second thought because she's lovely like that.
Parrots, though, are some of the most caged and tormented birds in the world. Maggie's negative self-talk and her unfortunate circumstances at the start of S2 are leading her down a dark path when we first meet her. She says she didn't go to parties-- she wasn't "that kind of teenager"-- implying that she had a hard time growing up and a probable history of being bullied. We never meet any other family that she may have or have had and she goes to Aziraphale for personal advice, implying that she might have a difficult family situation as well. Her business was struggling and she was depressed when we met her. When Shax begins to, well, parrot Maggie's inner thoughts aloud during The Meeting Ball, though, it's pretty horrifying. Maggie thinks herself "unloved and unlovable." She's so cruel to herself.
The self-image we're presented with that Maggie has for herself doesn't match at all what we've seen. The Maggie we've met is kind, gentle, honest and funny. She runs an insanely cute record shop. She's artsy and has a lot of style and great taste in old films and music. She's smart and she has a lot of love to give. Maggie isn't perfect. She's a little judgy (let Nina drink her wine in peace lol) and she gets in her own way when it comes to trying to connect with others sometimes. No one is flawless, though, and if those are someone's worst traits, then they're a really good person.
Maggie is a trapped parrot, though, at the start of the season. She is boxed into her life. The debt forgiveness from Aziraphale helps to set her free a bit and we can see the life she would like. Everyday, she looks across at freedom for her-- a romance with the owner of the American-themed coffee shop across the street. Symbolically, Maggie wants love and freedom-- from her own negative self-image and from what's keeping her feeling down about herself. Crowley and Aziraphale do actually help her with that-- they free her from debt and help her connect with Nina. (They might have actually overshot the mark a bit because she's so confident by 2.06 that she can't wait to give love life advice to *checks notes* a millenniums-old Cupid but that's another meta lol.)
Maggie brings Nina a Nina Simone record because they share a name but that's not entirely why. It's really because Nina Simone sings in "Feeling Good" of the whole world being a bold world and a new life of feeling good that Maggie desperately wants.
Like in "Feeling Good", Good Omens uses the other living things on Earth as metaphors for human experience-- which is also what the supernatural characters are. Birds can be caged but learn to-- and are meant to-- fly free and birds can be the humans or the supernatural creatures because, really, Maggie is correct-- they're all the same flock. Birds flyin' high/You know how I feel... fish in the sea/you know how I feel...
These creatures exist free in nature and know no emotional turmoil, just peace. They are free from inner turmoil and can just live and love and be in the moment-- what we're all searching for, really. Peaceful, precious, fragile existence, as Crowley put his life with Aziraphale, even if much got in the way of it in S2. S3 will hopefully see some of the fragility of it fall away for them. For Maggie, it's already begun to.

My Take on Levi's Age
I originally wrote this as a rb addition to another post. I've been meaning to make it a stand alone post since then, and with all the talk about Levi's age since the publication of bad boy, here it is, finally.
If you ask me, Levi could not have been more that 4-5 years old at the time Kenny found him around 829.
Why?
He's severely malnourished, probably spent several days cloistered in the room with Kuchel with nothing to eat. So my guess is that, though he was old enough to speak and understand Kuchel was dead (even if he could not quite grasp the bigger concept of Death), he was too young to go out and procure himself and his mum some food, be it by stealing or begging. And for that, he's need to be very young.
I lived in Greater Buenos Aires more than half of my life (the infamous "conurbano"), and I've seen lots of very small kids, 4-5 years old, begging like pros for either change or food. It's unfortunately very common in impoverished areas. And I wasn't even in the bad ones. So, in that aspect, the Underground wouldn't be different from our villas or Brazil's favelas.
Kuchel was a prostitute. She wouldn't want Levi to witness her at work. It is fair to think that as soon as he was old enough to cross the street she'd let him roam and go play with other kids while mummy's busy. There, he'd quickly learn how to come by a piece of moldy bread to stave hunger.
So in order to just sit starving by his mother instead of going out looking for help, Levi must have been young enough that his mum could still keep him under wraps; too young to know his way about the Underground's streets, too much of a rookie in terms of using his charm or his cunning to get a bit of food.
Uri Reiss inherited the Founding Titan in 829. BUT, nowhere does it say that Kenny's encounter with Uri happens right after the latter became a titan. So Kenny might have joined Uri up to a couple of years after 829 (not many, as Rod Reiss still looks young in that flashback).
So Kenny finds Levi between 829 and 831; And Levi is 4-5 then, meaning he was born, at earliest, in 823 (considering his b-day is only one week before the year's end, that'd make him 5 in for most of 829) and latest in 825 (same if Kenny found him in 831). That makes him 10-12 years older than Eren and company. , ~20 when he joins the SC, ~26 during seasons 1-3, ~30 after the time skip, and ~33 in the epilogue.
"But Yams said he was thirty-somethiiiing!"
TLDR: I wouldn't consider canon some spur-of-the-moment answer given by Yams in a panel where he's probably tired, nervous, and doesn't have his timeline handy.
Allow me to speak here as a writer: the whims of your imagination often don't align with the logic of what needs to go on the page. So it is perfectly possible to imagine your character in a way that is inconsistent with your timeline. You see them with short hair and summer clothes fixing lunch in their sunny kitchen in a scene and, when they move to the dining room you see them with hair 4 inches longer and serving supper as a snowstorm rages outside. When you write it, you're going to have to pick up one, and go back to your notes often for continuity after, bc your brain keeps forever placing the kitchen in sunny summer and the living room in a winter night. Oh, and they're both simultaneously on the ground and the second floor. Escher pictures make more sense.
The story of AoT spans many years, so we don't know which year Levi is the default Levi in Yams' brain. It could even be the Levi from the time skip, or from a future after the last chapter that only exists in his imagination. Also, Yams has bungled up numbers before so, personally, I don't trust him much in that department.
In any case, Math is a hard science, so if Kenny found Levi with 4-5 years in 829, he can't be 30+ in 850. 5+21=26. No matter what Yams says.

Adaine tries to relax her jaw. It doesn't work, and her ears are ringing, and fuck, her chest hurts so bad. "Adaine?" Riz. She tries to speak, but all that comes out is a sob.

Adaine squeezes Boggy in her arms, feeling the tears slide down her face. She's curled up in a ball on her bed, and she can't breathe.
She's having a panic attack, and she knows it, but Jawbone isn't home. It's fine. She can handle it. That's what she told herself when she left movie night in the living room.
She tries to relax her jaw. It doesn't work, and her ears are ringing, and fuck, her chest hurts so bad.
"Adaine?"
Riz. She tries to speak, but all that comes out is a sob.
"Hey, hey, it's okay, can I touch you?" he asks, and his voice is quiet. Adaine doesn't think she's ever heard Riz sound so gentle.
She nods, and she feels a hand brushing her hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ear, and another hand holding hers.
"Can you look at me?"
She hadn't even realized her eyes were closed.
She opens them, and sees Riz starting back at her with wide and concerned eyes. "Hey, it's okay, I'm right here, you're safe, we're gonna do some deep breaths, okay? Can you follow along with me?"
She nods.
Riz takes in a deep, audible breath, and she follows along. And she lets it out, feeling more tears slide down her face. "So—sorr—"
"Stop that. Remember what Jawbone said? It's not your fault that your brain is giving you shit, so don't apologize."
Adaine whines despite herself, a childish whine that would get her trouble for were she still living with her parents.
But she doesn't get in trouble this time.
This time... she gets a hug.
"Just breathe, it's okay," Riz says softly, rubbing circles into her back, "I'm here for as long as you need."
Adaine breathes, and she buries her face in the crook of Riz's neck despite the height difference making it a bit of an awkward position.
She whines again, and it's an embarassing thing, but she can't help it. And Riz runs his hands through her hair, and she feels so small.
"You're safe, everything is okay, I promise," Riz says, "just keep breathing, you're doing so well."
Adaine keeps breathing, and she feels the post-panic attack fatigue hit harder than it has in a long time.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" Riz asks after a moment, pulling away to look at her.
Adaine whines again, curling in on herself a little.
"It's okay if you can't talk, do you wanna go back to watching a movie with the others?"
She shakes her head.
"Okay, we can stay here," Riz says, brushing her hair out of her face again and planting a kiss on her forehead. She looks up in surprise, and he averts his gaze. "Um... my mom does that when I'm upset, I thought it might help."
Adaine nods, and she sees him let out a small sigh of relief.
"Are you feeling any better?" he asks, and she nods, and then she buries her head in the crook of his neck again. He wraps his arms around and holds her tighter. "We can just take a nap here if you want."
You sleep too, Adaine Messages him, and she hears him chuckle.
"I'm fine, you need rest," he says, and helps her shift into a lying down position, with Boggy between them. "Do you want me to stay here with you while you trance?"
She nods, squeezing Boggy and shifting so she's cuddled up against Riz.
He drapes an arm over her, pulling her closer.
"I love you, okay?" Riz says, wiping a falling tear off her cheek, and burying his face in her hair. "You don't have to be strong for everyone all the time. I'd rather help you than know you're struggling alone."
I could say the same for you, Adaine Messages him.
She feels Riz tense up a little. "That—that's not relevant right now."
Isn't it?
"You need your rest right now. That's a topic for another time."
Always avoidant.
"If I try to sleep too, will you get off my case?"
For now.
"Deal," Riz says, taking off his glasses and placing them on the bedside table before returning to cuddle with Adaine and closing his eyes.
And feeling a much more at ease, she closes her eyes too, focusing on Riz's protective embrace as she drifts off to trance.

Anyone else think short form social media based on algorithms designed to promote topics that create more engagement instead of more joy, the idea of fast fashion but conveyed through social media, and the fact you can monetize suffering and outrage better than ever has largely resulted in the death spiral of media literacy and the mass emergence of bad faith readings?
#I may be venting a lil but god it blows my mind#fyp is a blessing and a curse because i don't think ppl were ever meant to be subjected to this many ppl at once#god i took a bird site hiatus for weeks and now BARELY check it and it already feels like a hit#oughhhhh#even fandom spaces have hugely incorporated marketing and networking into them bc of cmms and sponsorship and building portfolio#which would be fine tbh if it weren't for the way socmed is designed#now it's like you can't support too many ppl or else you're shadow banned or you have to make yourself palatable and marketable#and websites with threads in which people will only read the first post before qrting because ratios are seen as five minutes of fame#features that permit beating an algorithm are locked behind a paywall that promises you money if you go viral#and what goes viral is usually incendiary content meant for those ratios or trends. whether for or against OP#even in hobbyist spaces the climate has changed so much due to the monetization and marketing and just. ugh#not to mention side accounts dedicated to gossip in this new priv account culture like...idk#if you have to make another account so you can make fun of a friend on main with selected priv friends it just doesn't sit well with me#and not every priv account does this but enough do and it makes me tired#unsolicited hate comments are still as bad as they used to be on ff dot net except now people openly are proud of it more#why do most socmed feel like passive aggressive sticky notes on high school lockers#there is so much more I could say about everything that has left me weary about the internet but I don't know the time or place#and I don't want anyone to think this is about them because it's a general statement. though if you are doing the more inflammatory things.#maybe rethink that. it's not good for anyone else and it's not good for you either#I keep coming back online to check on ppl and see art and I *know* it's draining for my health every time#but I feel a lot better now that i use socmed less overall. and that I try to focus on what makes me happy#it just sucks seeing so many people i care about endure absolutely wild struggles bc people online do not care.#I like rambling in my tags because this is the only place I ramble except my personal journal and to my wife

i just have a lot of feelings on this topic and the whole "canon or not canon" argument is weird to me; the themes are pretty darn clear in supernatural (it is NOT known for its subtlety) so idk man. they don't have to kiss to be canon. and they don't have to have a romantic relationship to be canon either. how many times do they get into relationships with other people only for it to be treated as cheating/betrayal/abandonment, only for them have to give up that relationship in order to reaffirm their devotion to their brother
that's just what the text says. i'm not under any kind of delusion that they have some secret sexual or romantic relationship, but that doesn't change that sam and dean are each other's most important person regardless of that. which is really awesome imo, that romance isn't treated as more important than whatever horrible thing they have with each other, and that they don't have to consummate their relationship with romance/sex in order for it to be the most important one they have
(and of course there's romantic/sexual subtext, like parallels and metaphors and misunderstandings and jokes, but to me that just provides a solid foundation for presenting this relationship between them as the most important even though it's not romantic or sexual—because this language of romance is the only one we know, really, when it comes to writing important relationships between characters. it's the only one we know in our own personal lives, to a large extent. so you use the romance/sexuality to symbolize the actual bond they have. which is so much worse lmao)
anyway i think spn is fairly unique in this way because of how no other relationships can really ever stand parallel to the one they share; even in other shows that center male friendship, romance is allowed to coexist with brotherhood. for sam and dean, it's not, and that becomes a point of tension and conflict and resolution many, many times over the course of the show. so like yeah!!! just because it's not romantic or sexual doesn't mean it's not canon, in the sense that their relationship is the point of the show, and it is the most important relationship they have. they chose each other above all else, every single time. yknow, it's "the epic love story of sam and dean" and all that

Not reblogging it for reasons, but I really agree with that person on here who said people are reframing depression and generally feeling shit all the time as a good thing because of the horrors of Gaza. There are people on here heavily implying that you feeling bad and finding it more and more difficult to live with yourself is actually an appropriate response to war and genocide. In some way, it might be. But the thing is, where does that lead? Does it lead to decisive action in accordance to your values, or to nihilistic stewing and self isolation from your community?
The post went on to call it anti-recovery culture- I don't know if I would call it that, because I get why people don't like recovery culture, especially in relation to addiction, but mental illness also. I think that's something I'm not qualified to speak on. So I wouldn't call this anti-recovery culture. Instead I would call it pro-burnout in activism culture. Do you honestly think people who are the most productively working in their communities and participating in actions to help overseas are feeling like this? Or do you think they have learned to use self-accountability and community support to reign themselves in when they begin to burn out emotionally, and rest and recuperate their mind in order to come back stronger? Ask yourself, is that wrong of them to do, because they should be feeling bad, because after all that is the appropriate response....does it mean they don't care, because they don't spend all their time feeling shit? Or perhaps, the truth is, they do care, and are demonstrating it all the time, but they also understand that them feeling shit literally doesn't help anyone. Why can we not talk about or acknowledge this?
