Savannah and Gigi are basically Libby and Avery in The Brothers Hawthorne. Savannah is the older sister (Libby) in a toxic/abusive relationship with a guy, Duncan (Drake), who is unworthy of her and Gigi is the younger sister (Avery) seeing all the warning signs that she’s getting hurt and wants her to break up with him. There’s also someone new who comes into their lives, Grayson (Nash), to help through the trauma. The only thing is, Sav hasn’t broken up yet with Duncan and Gigi and Gray haven’t managed to corner her about that yet while Libby is healing and happily engaged to her new man with Avery happy to have a good future brother-in-law. Also, this is indirectly a warning to avoid guys with names that start with D, if you couldn’t tell😆(that is a joke of course, there are plenty of good men with D names, I’m sure).

I was wondering maybe we find out how Alisa and Nash’s story went in Games Untold. I love Libby and I ship Libby and Nash, but I’m curious to find more about his past relationship with Alisa, especially that they were engaged. I feel like there are a lot of things unsolved between them and I wonder what really happened there. And this is why I thought Games Untold might hold a story about them…(maybe “Pain at the right gun”, even if it sounds more like Tobias and Alice tho :))

my roman empire? alisa ortega and nash hawthorne.

were they a healthy relationship? how long were they together? when did they decide that they wanted to be more than friends? when did they decide that they had to split apart?

it breaks me to think that they weren't just a couple, they grew up together. alisa states somewhere in the final gambit (?) that tobias hawthorne also had a hand in raising her, which means she probably did things the way the hawthornes did. she was the original 'one of the hawthornes' girl. the boys (aside nash) probably saw her as family just as much as the other hawthornes.

in my head, the two of them were probl the bestest of friends. and when they entered their young adult age, they decided they wanted more.

to alisa, it was true love, probably. but i think to nash, he felt like it was just another thing so make his grandfather happy. i mean, he surely loved alisa. but it was definitely the pressure of satisfying his grandfather that made the relationship difficult.

when im in a positive mood, i like to think that the break up was mutual. they both agreed to it, and they both decided that breaking up was whats best. but realistically, if we're genuinely takin context from how alisa acted, it definitely wasnt as mutual. i feel like alisa tried to hold on, tried to keep loving nash. but nash made it clear that it was either him or his grandfather. which is probl why alisa acted the way she did.

alsooo i cant help but think that jlb just had to make them break up for the sake of fitting libby somewhere into the plot—which dont get me wrong!! i fucking adore libbynash. they were one of my most anticipated couple in the entire series. buttttt, the second-chance lover in me kinda had a little bit of hope for alisa and nash. anyone else? just me? damn.

because i rly think abt this, 24/7. would libby have been as significant in the books if she wasnt nash's love interest? (which she honestly alrdy is seeing that shes legit avery's second mama and protector) or would nash be significant if he wasnt lib's love interest?

honestly all that im trying to say here is that i wish we had more of alisa and nash. the ending wasnt enough, yk? they just showed alisa all of a sudden happy and fine with everything, as if she wasnt the literal description of female rage in the entire series? and not to mention how some readers disliked her so much??

give the girl a break. shes a young lawyer who lost the love of her life but still chooses to put her job before anything else. tell me shes not the most greatest tig character ever?

hawthorne weekly dinner head canons

this has been sitting in my drafts for so long (although i only started posting earlier this week, i've had a few posts in my drafts for a while) you can't tell me they don't have weekly dinners. they're all literally so cute. like i can just imagine the four brothers, avery, libby, max, and even rebecca and thea sometimes spending some time all together. i might make a part two bc i honestly love the idea of all of them spending time together at dinner.

max and xander are always talking about the weird things that happened to them that week (once, they managed to get stuck with a lion in a cage at the zoo)

libby and grayson usually cook the food together. xander will help libby make the desserts.

once grayson starts dating someone (lyra probably, for some reason i'm still not convinced they'll end up together), obviously she joins these little dinners.

avery sometimes forces alisa to stop working and join too. she slowly starts to get over nash bc of them (she realises she's a girlboss and doesn't need a man in her life (i hc that she's bi))

grayson really enjoys the meals. he slowly starts to loosen up and smile more (this makes everyone really happy).

they once dared avery to make the food one night, but she's a horrible cook so they just decided to order take out.

jamie, when the plates and everything have been taken away from the table, gets on top of it and starts twerking.

the dinners always lead to everyone settling down in the living room and watching movies/tv shows (in two other posts, i mentioned that xander, grayson, libby, and avery love medical dramas so they probably all just watch that)

rebecca doesn't really like socializing with so many people at once so she brings a book with her. thea notices her all lonely and starts to talk to her bc she's such a good gf (istg they're so cute together).

avery and jameson always sit next to each other and are touching each other (sometimes jamie has an arm wrapped around her shoulder, other times he's holding her hand or places his hand on her thigh.

grayson canonically loves photography, and so these dinners give him the opportunity to show his work. he also takes pictures of them at dinner

sometimes he'll also show everyone some piano pieces he composed (this guy most definitely plays the piano)

these dinner usually end up becoming games of truth or dares, never have i ever, two truths and a lie etc. these games reveal so many things about everyone. so people get to know each other better

libby always has a slew of funny stories about baby avery. avery's always blushing from embarrassment.

sometimes, thea's just on her phone the whole time replying to comments and stuff.

xander likes to sit next to grayson cause he likes to talk about his gadgets and, bc gray doesn't really speak, he can talk freely (gray loves hearing him talk about things he enjoys). xander also has max sitting on his other side so that he can talk to her too, but usually she's busy talking to avery and stuff

during one of these family dinners, they learned that gray had an emo phase when he was 11.

they also learned that avery used to be a hopeless romantic thanks to max and libby (the four brothers, thea, rebecca, and alisa were all shocked cause she doesn't seem like she would be one but then they realized it made sense)

during a game of truth or dare, jameson managed to bang his head so hard on the table he passed out (idk what the dare was)

libby tends to sit across grayson and they start talking about cooking and stuff.

grayson once forgot about the dinner but really wanted to attend. he couldn't find a shirt he liked though and he was so tired that he just showed up shirtless (everyone had no words)

sometimes, avery or one of the brothers will post pics of their dinners and fans always think it's adorable.

jamie and avery will talk about the trips they took together

nash loves to talk about taylor swift's easter eggs/cryptic posts, etc. max who's also a hard core swiftie joins in. the rest of the table, at some point, start to like talking about these easter eggs too, and it becomes a huge thing (i hc that all of them were already swifties prior to these dinners. some less addicted to her music than others though)

they all like reading (except for thea, she doesn't get the point of it) so they start talking about thebooks they like or are currently reading.

at one of these family dinners, its revealed that nash reads smut (people already knew max and xander read smut already cause they aren't ashamed to talk about the weird shit they read)

max is always threatening avery to reveal all of her dirty secrets (they've been friends since childhood, of course max knows things about avery that no one else does)

at first, libby was kinda shy to talk at the table bc she felt like people didn't really care about what she had to say (fuck you drake, it's all cause of him) so nash started comforting her and encouraging her to talk. grayson overheard the conversation and started a conversation with her to encourage her. he told her that she was part of the family whether she wanted to or not, and people wanted to talk to her (she teared up).

sometimes, when libby gets anxious about speaking, nash will put his hand on her thigh and hype her up.

at first, grayson was so happy to have these dinners and be surrounded with people that love him that he would start to tear up in bed at night. over time, he started to accept that these people would always be in his life and stopped crying at night.

The final gambit

I feel like i really needed time to process this book and calm down before i made this. i KNOW it’s been months  and everyone has already move on, but i need to get this out of my chest, at least so i can move on and stop whining to my friends. 

First, Avery. I loved Avery so damn much throughout the entire trilogy and this book really solidified that. I love how smart, confident and bold she is. I love how unafraid she is, and how much she cares about the people around her. They are very few protagonists i have liked as much as i like her.  Honestly, i am an AveryGrayson girly at heart, but this book made it easier for me to stomach her with Jameson. I loved them both as individual characters, but this book actually made me ‘happy’ to see them together. I’d never thought that possible, but even though i wanted her with Grayson, seeing her with Jamie made my heart swell, even if i wanted to rip my hair out. At first i thought of them more as mirrors, and while i am usually into that type of relationship, here i really wasn’t rooting for it. But now i see that was kind of the point. Both Avery and Jameson deserve someone who will always bet on them, who will support them, and who will just.... complete them in such a unique way. They’re partners, equals and best friends.  Even though some of their scenes made me backtrack, in the end i was really satisfied with their ending ( thats a lie, i was screaming and trowing up, literally bowling my eyes out). 

Next, Grayson. This is the part where i think people may disagree a bit more. I was very dissatisfied with Gray’s ending in this book. Especially before i knew there was a fourth book coming out. My man really went through it this book, and his ending felt so dissatisfying . I mean, a girl who looks like the girl he was once in love with,  the girl who ripped him and his brother apart, the girl whose death he blames himself for, the girl who once manipulated and betrayed him, suddenly appeared, and people expect him to be okay? The trauma, flashbacks and PAIN that must have evoked through him must be insane. It would’ve been bad enough if it was any girl, but one as manipulative as Eve? I have to admit his behaviour annoyed me at times through the book, but it’s so understandable . And as happy as i was, that he finally got it out in the chapel, the way he just left was so.... sad. 

“ There are so many things i will never say ”  “ You hated the idea of me. But not you, never you. ” 

WDYM BY THAT? THE UTTER PAIN THIS QUOTES ERECTS FROM ME? I swear i was sobbing , he deserves so much better. Which leads me to my next point. I think that IF Gray was to have another love interest, ( thats a huge if), i’d like it to be someone completely unrelated to Jameson and Avery. At this point, i know a lot of people would be annoyed if a new character was introduced just to be a love interest, but i need Gray to fall for someone who will, and has ever loved ONLY him. No love triangle shit, just them. He deserves that much at least, and it would be so unsatisfying if it’s another ex, or someone Jameson was once involved with. And that’s if, he were to have another love interest. I’d be really happy if he just healed, forgave himself and moved on. I’d be more than satisfied with that. 

As for other characters, i really love libbynash. They were so cute and their talks about having a daughter  healed my heart a little. I was a pissed, about the way the other characters treated Alisa, so i hope she gets more than this in the other books ( Alisa stan forever! ). Max and Xander were perfect, the book bouquet literally made me melt.... so thank you JLB i’m officially jealous. Thea and Bex deserve everything , and seeing them grow, and support each other throughout the trilogy really made sad for both of them, but also weirdly satisfied?

I loved the mystery’s and the plot, though i liked them in the first and second book a BIT better. I think it’s a bit weird, because some of my favourite mystery’s were in this book; so i loved them individually, just not a whole. It’s weird. Some scene’s can’t be topped though. I’m really looking forward ward to what the new book will do in terms  of plot and characters so.... Yea can’;t wait for the next book, have really really high hopes and expectations for it.
