I think it will always be a red flag to me when creators minimize their fan bases/fan culture to just a bunch of teenagers, not only because off the issues that causes with communication with the creator when there's a need to discuss problems in the community but also because it kinda makes you feel bad for being a fan

That's why I like Dream's and Bdubs' approach to their fans so much

I mean Mister Dream knows-yaoi-ship-grammar Wastaken is kinda obvious, he has been a fan so he treats us with a base of respect and empathy and "those are more then just numbers, those are individuals people"

He has the fanart account and the monthly shoutouts of artists and is interactive because he gets fandom and he values the community

But what I find absolutely wonderful was Bdubs "discovery of dark twitter" and the absolute wonder he had when discovering more of fan content. And he did not get it originally! He didn't get shipping, he didn't know the words, and he treated it all like it was the most wonderful adventure ever!

Like the love the fans have for him and the art we create was the most amazing gift ever! And Aaaaaaaaaa it just brings me so much joy you know?

I wish more creators interacted with their fan base like this you know? Because I get just letting the fans have their space and vibe, but most times creators are kinda dismissive or almost berating to fans

I don't know where the assumption comes from that Aelfwynn wasn't trained in combat like her mother when she was Aethelflaed and Aethelred's only known child and Aethelflaed's designated heir. Aethelflaed led her men into battle numerous times, Aelfwynn may well have been at those battles - we simply don't know!! But to assume Aethelflaed wouldn't have prepared her only child and heir for everything that being the ruler of Mercia required is so gobsmackingly stupid, and yet, so many historians, most of them male, fall into this trap. It drives me INSANE.
