not to ruin my edgy dark online persona but i met so many sweet people recently, who genuinely care about others, who want to help and uplift and just be there for those in need or even just show care to random strangers in the smallest of ways, and life seems brighter ngl
it's easy to fall into those spirals after seeing people be awful online or watching the news, or even having a bad experience with one person in real life. but. there are more good people than bad ones, i think. and it's good to be reminded of that sometimes

She was sad the whole journey home from work knowing that Christmas was tomorrow and she was going to be alone. As she gets into her apartment complex, she runs into her neighbour at the mailbox. She’s got 3 packages in her hands while trying to figure out how to carry the last two, “do you want help?”
“Oh, please?” She sounds so relieved. “What a blessing it is to see you today.”
She smiles for the first time in a few hours, “Oh, anytime Penelope. Are these all gifts?” She asks as she takes the two packages in her hands. She’ll come down for her own mail later. Nothing interesting should be in there.
Penelope nods, leading them towards the elevators. “I’m having a big holiday gathering tomorrow— wait, do you have plans, are you going home to see family?”
“No,” she admits, sadly. “I couldn’t get a plane ticket, I tried but they’re so insanely expensive lately.”
“Yeah, I know,” Penny sighs. “I haven’t gone out to see my brothers in years, they’re in California.”
“It sucks… but you have lots of friends here, right? I’m sure they’re coming over tomorrow?” She asks, mostly so she can feel some sort of comfort if she isn’t doing anything tomorrow either.
“I’m having Christmas here for the first time,” she shares. “Dinner starts at 6:30 but we’re having a little bit of everything for lunch around 2, if you want to stop by at any time?”
“Oh no, I couldn’t—
“You can, and you will!” Penelope insists. “You don’t need to worry about gifts or bringing any food, just show up. I hate the thought of you being alone next door.”
“Okay, I’ll come,” she gives in with a smile. “But I’m bringing a baked good… have you ever been to my bakery?”
“You own the bakery?” She’s so flabbergasted. “I thought you just worked there?”
She smiles, “I do… we do okay but I’m by no means rich enough to buy a plane ticket home.”
“Well, maybe that’s a good thing cause now I can eat whatever you bring tomorrow!”
She spends the whole night baking. She makes molasses cookies with powdered sugar on them in shakes of little Christmas trees and she makes chocolate croissants. One of which she brings to Penelope around 10 am so that she can have a nice breakfast before the party starts.
She showers, picks a cute outfit and by 3pm she’s anxiously waiting by the door trying to hype herself up to go over. She only knows Penelope. They’ve lived beside each other for 3 years now. She’s seen her friends coming and going and heard them talking in the halls but she’s never talked to them. But if they like Penelope, they’ve gotta like her too.
So she bucks up and heads over.
She knocks and within seconds, a handsome man is throwing the door open. “You don’t have to— oh, hi?”
“Hi… Penelope invited me? I’m her neighbour… Y/N,” she awkwardly introduces herself.
He’s at a loss for words— and breath, for a moment and then shakes himself out of it. “Spencer… Reid. Doctor… Doctor Spencer Reid.”
It makes her laugh, easing the anxiety out of her system. “Can I come in, Doctor Spencer Reid?”
“Yeah, yes, come in,” he steps out of the way and extends his arm into the room for her to follow. He closes the door after she’s inside and smiles. “How do you know Penelope?”
“I live next door.”
“Really?” He can’t believe it. “How long?”
“3 years now…”
“And you’ve never come over?” He looks offended.
She smiles, “Why, sad you haven’t known me longer?” She manages to tease him. She’s not always good at reading people but something about how he’s acting makes her think he likes her.
He blushes but nods, “Well, welcome. It’s nice to finally meet you.”
“You too,” she looks him up and down. He’s very handsome. And a doctor… “how do you know Penelope?”
“We’ve worked together since I was 22…”
“And you’re now…?”
“42,” he presses his lips together, awkwardly. “Old…”
“No, no you’re not, I would’ve guessed 35 at the most,” she teases, stepping into his space, she places her hand on his arm. “You’re a very handsome 42.”
“Are you doing anything for New Years?” He asks, removing all his fear and looking at her with hopeful eyes.
She shakes her head, “no… I might be working but I can leave early, or you can come see me there?”
“Where do you work?”
“I own the bakery on 16th Avenue,” she smiles. “Penelope buys in donuts and things from me all the time, actually, I brought over baked goods this morning, they’re in the kitchen somewhere.”
“Did you make those croissants?” He lights right up.
She nods, “maybe I can teach you how to make some?”
“I’d really like th—
“Y/N!” Penelope comes running from the kitchen and wraps her arms around her, “When did you get here?”
“Just now,” she laughs. “Spencer’s been keeping me company.”
“Ahh,” she pulls away with a smile. “Well, come eat, there’s lots of snacks in here.”
She leads them into the kitchen where her other friends are around the table. “The ones with kids will be around later, they’re still putting batteries and things in their kid's gifts. But this is Rossi and Emily and Tara.”
She reaches out to shake everyone's hand, realizing only now that she never shook Spencer's, but he doesn’t mind, he stays close to her. They sit side by side, he passes her things from the table that she wants to put on her plate and he gets up to get her a drink and everyone makes conversation while also watching him dote on her. It’s been 20 minutes but there’s something there… no man has shown her this level of interest or flattery before and not to quote Lana Del Rey but, when you know you know.
They’re friendly as ever when there are people around them and they flirt like mad when they’re alone. She already has a date with him, but he’s just too cute and that shade of red he turns is starting to become her favourite colour.
“You seriously used all the ice?” Penelope chastises Emily, who pretends she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. “Go get some more, we have guests coming who don’t drink alcohol they need ice for their sodas!”
“I am far too drunk to walk down the street,” she counters and points to Dave.
“Not me,” Dave touches his nose, he doesn’t volunteer to do anything and Tara does the same thing, she’s just as drunk as Emily.
Spencer goes to get his coat with a sigh, “I’ve got it.”
“I’ll come too,” she rushes to the door with him, putting on whatever coat fits her so that she can follow him down to the street for some extra alone time with him.
She reaches for his hand on the street, “So, what’s it like at the FBI?”
He holds her hand gladly, “it's… okay. I just teach now. Fieldwork put me in the hospital too many times and I like being alive.”
“I’m glad you’re still here,” she bumps shoulders with him.
His smile is beautiful. “So, about that date?”
“We could do anything you want,” she assures. “But my offer still stands.”
“I think I’d like a baking lesson,” he nudges her back. “It's the one thing I’m not good at.”
“So what are you good at?”
“Rambling, falling over, getting shot,” he teases but she swats his arm, leaning into him with a laugh. “Okay, but seriously, I have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Engineering and Math.”
“Well luckily for you, baking is just science and a bit of math,” she teases. “You’ll catch on quickly, smarty pants.”
He pulls her in, chest to chest, standing beside an empty store with all their lights off. He cups her face, “what’s sweeter? Your chocolate croissants or your kiss?”
She can’t help but laugh, “you’ll have to tell me…”
He pulls her in for a kiss and sparks fly behind her eyes. As if every atom in her being is on fire, she melts into him. Kissing him deeply, she holds his sides and the hand he has on her cheek goes into her hair as they begin to make out on the snow-covered street.
She pulls back first, smiling softly, “so?”
“You, it’s definitely you,” he teases. “But the croissants are a very close second.”
She laughs, “Well, keep up the compliments and there will be lots more kisses and sweet treats coming your way.”
“You’re the most beautiful woman in the neighbourhood,” he teases, leaning in for another kiss but she stops him.
“Just the neighbourhood?”
“The whole world,” he corrects, which is the right answer. She lets him lean in closer, stealing another kiss.
She kisses him again and again, trying to pull back but he kisses her a third time, making her laugh. “We need to get that ice, we’re going to be late for dinner.”
“do you want to hang out after dinner?” He asks, “I can walk you home?”
“And stay for more kisses?”
“Or croissants,” he shrugs. Happy with either.
They’re pretty normal for the rest of the party, she meets the rest of his friends and all their kids. And they’re some cute kids. The youngest is his friend Matt's 2-year-old, she sits at the grown-up table with them and eats one of the chocolate croissants with the biggest smile on her face. Y/N can’t help but think about how much her own kids might like her baking one day… and Spencer sees the way she looks at the baby too.
His friends are so lively, the the party goes on until well after midnight. The friends with kids head out early, Emily and Tara get a cab home, Dave is passed out on her couch and Spencer isn’t going to leave until she does. And she’s helping Penelope clean up.
“You don’t have to stay,” Penelope assures her, drying off dishes while Spencer washes them. She’s been putting things in Tupperware containers and organizing the fridge.
“I want to help, as a thank you,” she smiles at her. “This has been a lovely night.”
“And not just because I introduced you to your new boyfriend?” She teases and Spencer drops a plate.
She laughs, walking over to place her hand on Spencers arm, “I mean, meeting Spencer is the best present you could’ve given me.”
Penelope swoons, “Okay that’s it, love birds. Get out of my kitchen, go home, go canoodle and get to know each other. I knew this was going to happen.”
“Why didn’t you tell me in advance?” Spencer whines as he dries off his hands. “I would’ve worn something nicer?”
“You look cute,” she teases.
“See, that’s why,” Penelope points at her. “I knew she’d like you for you, she’s a baker and you love everything I buy from her bakery and she’s so kind and you need someone to love you the way I know you love people back. This is perfect.”
She wraps her arm around his waist and leans into his space, “thank you penny, we’re going to go now.”
“Thank you,” Spencer agrees, following her out of the kitchen and towards the door.
Once they’re in the hallway, he asks, “Did you really mean that?”
She nods, “of course?”
He lunges for her, kissing her with her back pressed up against her apartment door. She reaches for the doorknob, twisting it open so that she can bring them inside and push him up against the closed door instead this time. He moans into her mouth at the feeling of his back colliding with the door and her hands are immediately roaming his shirt.
He’s such a good kisser, he is gentle and soft, and he isn’t overly eager and controlling. He lets her explore and slow it down as she presses in closer to him and his hands wander to her hips.
“Couch?” She pants against his lips, wanting to lay down with him.
“Show me?” He agrees, following her into her apartment and to the living space.
She pushes him down against the couch and climbs on top of him. He wraps his arms around her, cradling her body like she’s the most delicate thing in the world. He kisses her just as soft and she moves her kiss to his cheek and his jaw up towards his ear, “you’re so handsome,” she whispers.
“Thank you,” he gasps. “You’re absolutely stunning, I don’t know how I got so lucky.”
She smirks against him, kissing down his neck, “You deserve good things, Spence.”
“You’re too good to me,” he teases, hand slipping down to her ass. “How far are we taking this?”
She hums, “I’m good just talking and kissing all night?”
“All night?”
She nods as she pulls back to look at him. “I kinda don’t want to let you go. I’m afraid you’re too good to be real.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” he assures. “I’m yours as long as you want me.”

Mmmmm I’ve been thinking. About. What if reader and sev have a kid but they’re divorced. And they still love each other but ended on bad terms, so every interaction radiates passive aggressiveness. But one day they fall apart and admit they still have feelings. Maybe some smut, who knows(I’d prefer it if there was smut but you do you)
OOUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGHHH the angst! the anger! the desire! let's do it.
men and minors dni
you've been divorced from sevika for two years now.
when people ask, you shrug and tell them that it wasn't meant to be, it was an amicable split, and you guys remain good friends.
this is true. for the most part.
you're not really friends anymore, but you're still family. you're co-parenting the coolest little girl in the world, you're bonded forever by your shared admiration of little fucker.
despite the fact that you guys don't laugh together as much as you used to, your familiarity and comfort around one another mean that sevika's still one of the few people in the world you can fully relax around.
but... you're not sure you fully believe that you and sevika weren't meant to be.
and lately, it seems like little fucker's starting to feel that way, too.
"ma." she starts from the backseat, kicking her legs in her carseat. you just got her from sevika's for the week.
"yeah, kid?" you ask.
"mom says you don't live together because you're divorced." she says-- too young to remember a time when the three of you were all living in one home.
"yep." you say, nodding.
"well... why?" she asks. you cringe and shrug, letting out a sigh while you try to think up an appropriate answer.
"what did your momma sev say?" you ask. little fucker shrugs.
"she says you got in a big fight." you bite your tongue to keep from spitting out a curse at your daughter's words. of course she'd say that. "what'd you fight about?"
"we didn't fight, your mom's just a drama queen." you sigh. your daughter giggles.
"we played queens last night! she was the queen of winter and i was the queen of summer, we had to fight in the back yard!"
you smile, imagining the scene-- sevika with a little tiara on her head chasing your cackling daughter around the little yard.
you think that's the end of the conversation, until you're back home, tucking her into bed for the night.
"goodnight, kid. i love you."
"ma?" she whispers. you nod, assuming she's going to ask you to check for monsters. "if you and mom didn't fight, why don't you love each other anymore?"
your heart breaks a bit at the question and you sigh sadly. "we still love each other, i think." you say. "but... we just love so differently."
"waddya mean?"
"like... like when you were born." you say. "you were the most amazing, precious, important thing in the world for me and your mom." you say. "and your mom wanted to show you that love by making sure you had everything you could ever need." you say simply, trying not to let your personal feelings get in the story.
if this was a friend of yours, you'd word it a bit differently. you'd say that sevika became unhealthily obsessed with work and money, paranoid and horrified about the idea of her daughter ever having to want for anything. you'd say that she started missing the important shit for late-night meetings-- doctors appointments and anniversaries and, the final straw, your daughter's second birthday party. but this isn't your friend, this is you and sevika's kid. and you aren't going to bitch about your kid's other mom to her.
"so she worked all the time, super-really hard, so she could buy you a big house to grow up in and a lot of vegetables to make you big and strong. isn't that nice of her?"
"and so we could adopt shimmer?" little fucker asks. you giggle and nod at the mention of sevika's new dog.
"yup. she worked super hard so you could have a furry baby brother." you say, nodding. she grins.
"what's wrong with that ma?" she asks.
"nothing!" you assure your kid. "there's nothing wrong with that! it's just... different from the way i show you love." you say.
little fucker pouts. "but you work too." she says. you chuckle and nod.
"yeah, but have you ever noticed that my house is smaller? 's 'cause instead of making a huge buttload of money for you, i do different things to take care of you." you say. she hums, considering this.
"like... makin' me pancakes for dinner on fridays?" she asks. you smile and nod.
"and being on the PTA at your school, goin' to mommy-daughter dance classes with you--"
"and goin' to the movie theater on our saturday girl-dates!" she cuts in. you giggle and nod.
"exactly." you say. "see? we both love you more than anything in the world, but we do it in different ways."
"huh." she says.
"which is okay." you assure her. "it's all okay. it just... our ways of loving were getting in the way of each other's."
little fucker frowns. you kiss her forehead. "i love you ma." she whispers. you smile.
"i love you too, sweet girl."
you see sevika again three nights later at little fucker's montessori talent show.
you sit beside each other like you always do-- both of you are too introverted to find any pleasure in bonding with other parents.
"hey." you grunt as you collapse into the chair beside her. she smiles at you.
"you look like shit."
"she's been having nightmares. did you show her a horror movie last week?" you ask. sevika furrows her brow, then a guilty expression spreads across her face. you sigh in disappointment.
"fuck. it was just the sixth sense! 's only pg-13, and she was supposed to be sleeping."
"sevikaaa, how many times do i have to tell you to keep the horror movies to your off-weeks?!"
"i'm sorry!" she cries. a few parents turn around to look at you two, and you elbow her. she huffs. "sorry."
"it's fine. it'll be your problem soon enough." you say. sevika chuckles.
"how are you?" she asks. you sink farther into your seat, groaning again. your ex-wife chuckles. "that bad?"
"it's fine. she's been asking about our divorce. it's just fuckin' hard to re-live it all with our own kid." you explain. sevika's shoulders slump a bit, a sad expression crossing her face.
"she did that to me last week, asked me why i don't just move you into the guest room at my place." she says. you snort.
"i know. you told her we got in a big fight." you say. sevika nods.
"'cause we did." she says. you laugh and roll your eyes.
"makes it sound so simple." you say. sevika grunts.
"it is simple." she says.
"if it was simple, we wouldn't be divorced."
"then maybe we shouldn't be fucking divorced." sevika spits out.
you turn in your seat to gawk at her in shock, and sevika's got her eyes set on the stage ahead of her-- knowing she fucked up.
"that's awfully fucking bold coming from the woman who was at the club the same night it was finalized." you growl. sevika's nostrils flare, her fingers digging into the armrest between the two of you. "honestly, i don't know why that still surprises me, after all those 'late nights' you had at the office with that paralegal girl." you spit out.
"are you fucking kidding--"
"hello parents!" a teacher greets from the stage. "welcome to rainbow montessori's annual talent show! we have a variety of performances we are so excited to show you..."
sevika's hand wraps around your bicep, sinking her nails into your skin. you try to pull your arm out of her grip, but she just pulls you toward her, her lips on your ear.
"don't go fucking anywhere when this is over. we need to talk."
the show goes great, little fucker beams when she sees you and sevika in the crowd, and then proceeds to win over the hearts of everyone in the room when she shows 'how big a bubble' she can blow with gum. a skill she got from sev.
sevika gets teary eyed with pride while she watches, and you so desperately want to take a picture of it to tease her, but you keep your camera on your daughter.
when the show is over, little fucker runs up to the two of you grinning, launching herself into sevika's arms as she laughs.
"momma sev! you're here!"
"hey baby." she chuckles, kissing her head. "amazing bubbles."
"it wasn't my biggest ever, but it was pretty close." your daughter sighs. sevika laughs.
"go play with your friends a bit, i gotta talk to your ma." she says, kissing your daughter again before setting her back down. little fucker gives you a quick hug, then runs off toward the jungle gym. your heart drops when you remember the argument you were in the middle of before the talent show.
sevika tugs you to the corner of the play-yard, away from other parents and kids and teachers. "is that really what you fucking think?" she asks when she gets you behind a few bushes.
"what?" you ask.
"you really think i fucking cheated on you?" she growls.
you roll your eyes. "it doesn't matter anymore, sevika."
"answer my fucking question!"
"well, what was i supposed to think!?" you shout. you bite your lip and close your eyes, collecting yourself before speaking. "you were at work all the time. i was still carrying my pregnancy weight, you'd come home too tired to fucking talk, much less touch me, and the second i brought up divorce, you jumped at it like you'd just been waiting for me to say the word."
sevika's silent for a second, and when you open your eyes, you catch her wiping up a few tears. your heart breaks a bit, and you bite your cheek to keep from reaching forward and wiping the tears up for her. "i'd never cheat on you. i never have-- i swear it, baby." she whispers. you just huff at the pet name. "you-- i haven't fucked anyone since you." sevika admits miserably. "i know ran saw me at the club but i was just there to get fucking plastered. i just lost the love of my fucking life, you gotta give me a bit of a break." she says.
you blink at the confession, your heart doing a backflip at her words.
"the only reason--" sevika cuts herself off, scrubbing her face and groaning. "i wanted to do this differently." she says.
"do what?"
"this." she says, waving her hands between the two of you. "this conversation. i-i've been talking about it with my therapist... i was gonna ask you to come over for coffee or something." she says. your face screws up in confusion, both at the revelation that sevika's been seeing a therapist, and at the rest of her sentence.
"what conversation?"
"i fucked up so fucking bad." sevika whispers, ignoring your question. you snort a laugh and nod.
"i'm aware." you say. sevika chuckles sadly.
"i lied." she says. you raise an eyebrow at her and she huffs. "the little fucker didn't bring up the divorce first, i did. i asked her if she ever wished we were together." sevika says. "thought maybe if i could get her fixated on it she could bug you into gettin' back together with me or something."
you snort.
"i miss you so much." sevika says miserably. "i've missed you for years, even while we were still married, and it's all my fucking fault. i thought..." she sighs, hanging her head and looking away, her eyes wide and vulnerable and unable to look at you.
"sevika--"
"i thought i didn't deserve it. any of it. you-- i was so happy when i got you. when we met and got married-- i thought i couldn't be fucking happier. then we had the kid and i..." she trails off for a second. "i was too happy. i didn't think i deserved it-- you, or the kid, or the weekend trips to the zoo and the family dinners... i didn't..."
tears start to well up in your eyes, and you reach out and grab her hand in yours. "i know." you say. you do know, you've always known this about your ex. her biggest weakness is her own self-doubt.
"and i hurt you so fucking bad." sevika sobs. "i didn't know-- i mean, i knew you were miserable, but i didn't you you thought i was cheating, honey. i didn't want to make you feel that w-- you're so impossibly perfect. you're beautiful. then and now. i just felt like, like i had to earn you guys or something. so i... i kept working because it was the only way i knew how to earn the blessing."
sevika reaches up and swipes away a few of your own tears that you hadn't felt fall.
"how do you feel now?" you ask. sevika smirks.
"like the biggest idiot in the world." she says. you chuckle. her smile grows at the sound. "like i'll do anything to undo my mistake. anything. i've been cutting back a lot at work-- silco hates it but it's been worth it to go to shit like th--"
"you've been goin' to therapy?" you cut her off.
"...yeah." she says. you smile.
"how's that been going?"
"...good." she says, simply but sincerely. you laugh.
"and what does your therapist think about your plans to win me back?" you ask. she shrugs.
"she says she's got a good reference for a couple's counselor if we want."
you burst into laughter, and sevika grins at the sound. your heart melts a bit at the sight of her toothy, goofy smile, and you sigh.
"you really haven't been with anyone this whole time? we've been divorced for years." you say. sevika shakes her head, giggling a bit.
"have you?" she asks, skeptically. you duck your head and chuckle.
"no, i guess i haven't either."
"so... should i ask for that counselor's number?" she asks. you reach out and smack her shoulder, giggling.
"you should maybe start with asking me out to dinner, first." you suggest. sevika grins.
"how about tonight?" she asks. something flutters in your stomach, something like butterflies.
"i dunno. me and the kid have plans to hit up applebees for some chicken fingers after this--"
"sounds perfect." sevika says grinning. "i'll drive." she offers.
you smile, and sevika reaches her hand out between the two of you. you roll your eyes and give her your own hand, giggling at the way she grins as she intertwines your fingers.
it feels so fucking right to hold her hand again. it feels a bit like coming home.
but it feels even better when she uses her hold on you to tug her forward, wrapping both of her arms around your waist as she presses her lips against yours. you both let out simultaneous breaths of relief, moaning as something familiar and exciting builds between the two of you.
"what're you guys doing?" little fucker asks. you both pull away, gasping and looking down at your feet where your daughter is standing, a mildly disgusted look on her face. "why's your tongue in her mouth?"
sevika snorts, and you cringe.
"we were making out. like in the movies." sevika says.
"why would you tell her that!?" you groan.
"what, like... romance kissing?" your daughter asks.
sevika ignores you and nods.
your daughters eyes go wide as she looks between the two of you.
"is it cool with you if i crash you and your mom's applebees date tonight kid?"
"like... a family date night?" your daughter asks.
sevika laughs beside you. "would that be okay?"
"this is so exciting!" little fucker squeals, jumping up and down. "are you guys getting married!?" she asks. you groan, grabbing your daughter's arm in one hand, and sevika's in the other, guiding them all out toward the parking lot.
"no, and we might not ever get married again." you say to your kid. "we're just eating dinner tog--"
"not yet." sevika cuts you off. "give it a year, it takes a while to plan a wedding. plus, you gotta help me pick out your ma's ring." sevika says. your daughter giggles in excitement.
you elbow sevika, but your glare is softened by the grin you're trying to bite back.
she just smirks, then swoops in to kiss you again.

I Believe What You Said [James Wilson x Reader]
I have been bingewatching House, and I fell back in love with the adorable golden retriever of an oncologist. And I actually managed to write!
Warnings: hinted smut, female reader, reader has a last name (there is a reason), no use of y/n, House is House, reader is 30
Tumblr media
“You called a hooker to the hospital? I’m telling mom!” Wilson sighed and went to apologise but the woman with him merely laughed, “then I guess you won’t want to hear about my two for one special? I’m told it’s knee-trembling.” “Oh I like her, hire her again.” “I don’t think he’s going to go away any time soon, I’ll see you later?” The woman smiled softly at Wilson and nodded. “Yeah. Thanks James.” As she reached the door she stopped and glanced back at the two men, “nice to meet you House.” “So, you got her card? How much does she charge an hour?” “I’m not even going to dignify that with a response.” Wilson sighed heavily, settling back into his chair. “What do you want House?” “I want to know who the hot piece of ass in your office was.” House wiggled his eyebrows. “You’re disgusting. And it may come as a surprise to you, but sometimes people other than you actually come to consult me on cases. Now, what did you want?” “Oh, I’ve got something way more interesting to look into now.” House grinned, making his way back towards the door and leaving a baffled oncologist behind him.
“So, who’s the hot new doctor you hired?” “Hello to you too House.” Cuddy hummed, not looking up from her computer. “I haven’t hired any new doctors.” “Well there’s no way Wilson has the balls to bring a hooker to a hospital. Short, stupid accent, wears a lot of black, doesn’t quite have your cleavage but-” he cupped his hands around his chest “-about yae big?” “You’re disgusting.” Cuddy huffed. “Why do you care?” “What, I can’t get to know the fourth ex-Mrs Wilson?” He smirked. “You know, I think she’s young enough to be his daughter.” “She’s 30!” “So you do know who she is?!” He looked practically elated, or as elated as House could get, “c’mon mom, little Jimmy gets all the cool new friends.” “She was a trauma surgeon, and if you actually did the clinic hours you were supposed to do you would have met her before now.” Cuddy clicked a few buttons on her computer and smiled, “and would you look at that, your clinic duty starts in ten minutes.” For the first time in months House didn’t whine or complain, instead headed straight for the door and turned in the direction of the clinic.
“He has three ex wives you know.” “Really?” The woman laughed, flicking over the next page in her file, “that’s extremely impressive for a nine year old. I’ll let his mother know.” “Hilarious. Wilson, not little Timmy in there.” She paused, narrowing her eyes at him. “I’m not sure what that has to do with me, or this patient, but I’ll keep it in mind… unless you really were thinking about that two for one offer? Or calling dibs.” She didn’t wait for his response, slipping into exam room two and closing the door. House smiled to himself, picking a random file from the stack. This was going to be fun. Each time he bumped into her while collecting files he asked progressively more personal questions, about her, about her intentions with the oncologist, about her medical history, or just things to get a rise out of her. After his last patient she was just stood by the desk waiting for him, expectantly. “You get one more question.” “So, how many doctors in this hospital have you slept with?” She tapped her finger against her chin, “three. Why, you want to make it four? So you know my family history, how many doctors I’ve slept with, how many times I’ve spoken to your boyfriend this month, and yet you never asked my name. Have fun with that Sherlock.” “Oh please, your name is up there on the clinic rota,” he grumbled, gesturing to the board behind him, “who wastes a question on useless stuff like that?” She just laughed and walked off, throwing a wave over her shoulder as she disappeared through the doors. House, still a little peeved he couldn’t get to her, turned to study the clinic rota. Next to his name, in shiny black letters, ‘Dr. Smith’. Great, just great.
House threw open the door to his office, slightly disappointed that no one on the team jumped any more. “You two, go run a PET scan on the patient's brain. And you,” he gestured his cane at Cameron, “go find me Dr. Smith, tell her I need a consult in Wilson’s office.” “Why would we run-” “Are you going to give me a clue on-” “Out. Daddy needs time to think.” The three stared dumbly at him as he made his way back towards the door. “Go on kiddies, scram.” Sighing the team set off for their different jobs, Cameron muttering to herself about how many Dr Smith’s there must be in this hospital. House headed in the other direction, still thinking, until he stopped outside Wilson’s door. Rapping his cane against the wood three times he pushed open the door and walked in. “What are you up to?” “I believe that’s usually my line. Hello House.” The older man made a childish noise and dropped himself on the office sofa, “with this Dr Smith. Did you know she’s slept with three Doctors in this hospital? I mean, I can’t blame them, that ass is amazing-” “You’re a pig. And what I’m doing is working…” Wilson hummed, staring at his papers for a few moments before dropping them on the desk, “how do you know how many doctors she’s slept with?” “Apparently we share clinic hours. So, you’re trying to be the fourth or what?” “No, no, we are not doing this. Since when do you do your clinic hours?” “Since there was something interesting in there.” House smirked, “so you are trying to be number four?” “House,” Wilson frowned at his friend, tone hardening slightly, “I am not answering that question.” “So I can be number four? Sweet, wonder if she meant it about that two for one deal. Think Cuddy would be in?” “No and no.” “So you are interested in her,” House grinned, “Wilson’s got a girlfriend!” “Men and Women can be friends, even if the woman in question has an amazing ass,” Wilson sighed “you happy now?” “Ecstatic. What about you?” Wilson’s head whipped towards the door, where Dr Smith was leaning against the doorframe. “I think I could hear a few more compliments. You wanted me?” “Yeah, my place about 8?” She chuckled and shook her head at the diagnostician. “Still not the best offer in the room, Cameron said you wanted a consult?” “Yeah, got a patient suffering from a heartbreaking lack of sex.” He grumbled. “Hire a hooker. Or sweet talk James really nice. Now, is there a real issue or can I go back to my day job?” She glanced between the two, one eyebrow raised. “I do have a patient with hallucinations, hearing voices, the whole shebang. He’s 39.” She hummed, sitting on the couch beside House. “This is new?” “Yep.” “Very late onset for schizophrenia, personally I’d be asking the oncologist not the psych.” “Tumour is a possibility.” Wilson agreed, wandering over to the couch as well. “Great, good thing I asked them to scan his brain.” House sighed, pushing himself to his feet. After he left the woman smiled at Wilson, “so, you want to get a coffee and go over that case?” “I’d love to.”
“So my ass is amazing huh?” Dr. Smith grinned, grin only widening as she watched the oncologist splutter, his face turning red. “I can’t believe House did that to me.” “Oh I can, Cameron went to like eight Dr Smith’s before she got to me, and so do you. But that’s not an answer Dr Wilson.” Wilson sighed, staring hard at the spill now on the table. “I was just winding House up.” She hummed, taking a careful sip of her coffee. “Well that’s a shame, ‘cause now I can’t say the same thing back without getting written up for harassment.” More of the coffee splashed onto the table, “you… what?” “I’m not blind.” Wilson just stared blankly at her, a pink flush sitting prettily across his cheeks. “But you’re… you know I’m a decade older than you right?” “You know I’m too old to care right?” She stared him down, though her lips still turned up at the corners ever so slightly. “You can say no, I got over being offended by that back in college.” “Well that has to be a lie. It’s not that I want to say no-” “So, Thursday night? I finish at 7.” Wilson could only watch, stunned, as she downed the rest of her coffee and walked off.
“There’s something wrong with her, and I’m going to find it,” House grumbled as he limped back into the office, throwing his badge onto the table, “one of you go pretend to be me in the clinic, I’m busy.” “You stole another doctor's personal file?” Cameron gaped. “I’m not even surprised.” Foreman sighed. House made shoo-ing motions as he sat behind his desk, starting to flip through the file. Less than an hour later he was slamming the file back down on Wilson’s desk. “She’s broken, thats why you want her.” “Ah yes, I definitely can’t like a gorgeous woman because she’s gorgeous.” His eyes flicked to the file and back to the computer, “of course you stole her notes. I’m disappointed but not surprised.” “She has depression.” House snapped. “That makes two of us.” “She can’t have kids.” “Ah yes, because my plan was to knock her up on the first date.” House narrowed his eyes. “You’re taking her on a date.” Wilson’s retort was interrupted by a knock on the door, followed by the person they’d just been discussing poking her head inside. “Bad time?” “No, it’s fine.” Wilson hummed, smiling softly. “You need me?” “Both of you actually,” her eyes drifted over the file on the desk, “you know, I’m not morally opposed to punching a cripple when they deserve it. You want copies of all my nudes too?” House grinned. “Yes.” “Ask James for them later, there’s a weird case in the clinic.” She grinned, nodding towards the door. “And since you have enough free time on your hands to steal my notes, you have enough free time to come look at this.” “You have nudes already?” Wilson frowned. “No?” “Not yet, hence the later. Keep up House.” As she walked off the two men glanced at each other, Wilson frowning at his best friends wicked grin. This was going to be a nightmare.
Thursday evening finally rolled around and the two doctors found themselves seated at a pretty nice restaurant, glasses of wine beside their plates and soft piano music trickling through the air. The woman smiled, leaning forwards slightly towards her date. “You know he followed us right?” She chuckled, nodding her head slightly. “Two tables over. You sure I’m not interrupting something between you two?” “Only him monopolising all my free time.” Wilson groaned, rubbing his temples. “I’m sorry about him.” “Don’t be, if I didn’t think I could handle him I wouldn’t be here. You don’t work at Princeton Plainsboro for years without knowing all about Gregory House.” She laughed. “Besides, he’s good fun to mess with.” “I’m glad,” Wilson smiled softly, “not that he’s messing with you, just that you don’t mind.” She gently rested her hand over his. “I finally managed to get you out on a date, a grumpy diagnostician with a fixation is not ruining this for me.” “Finally… you flatter me.” She shrugged, “I don’t really flatter people, but if it's working then I’m happy-” she sipped from her wine “-I’d be even happier if you agreed to come to my place and try some of my wines after this. I have quite the collection.” He blushed prettily, taking another sip of his own drink before nodding. “I. I think I would like that.” She smiled, taking another bite of her pasta. Wilson did the same, smiling back at her. Once their plates were empty and the last of the wine had disappeared she reached out and offered him her hand. As they walked past the table where House was sat she bent down and murmured into his ear ‘there are easier ways to get a threesome’ before walking out of the restaurant hand in hand with the oncologist. “I may have overexaggerated how good my wine collection is.” “I may not have really cared about the wine.” She laughed, pulling him to a stop so she could lean up and press her lips into his. “Good. My apartment is just around the corner, and I’m running low on patience.” If they both sped up their steps a little, and if they ended up pressed against each other outside her door too impatient to wait just a moment longer for the door to be opened, then there was no one there to judge them.
The next morning she awoke to the chirping of an alarm and the warmth of a body curled around her own. Shifting slightly she smiled to see him still there, floppy hair a mess and brow furrowed slightly as the alarm broke through the last remnants of sleep. “You’re still here.” She murmured, fingers tracing his jaw. “You didn’t think I would be?” He murmured back, eyes still closed as he tried to bury his face against her shoulder. “I’m not necessarily used to it, but I’m glad.” Slowly she rolled over fully, pressing the front of her body against his and feeling him pressing back against her. “Mmmh, think we can get away with being late?” His eyes cracked open and he smiled, pressing his lips against hers softly. “If you’re as good as you were last night we won’t be.” Grinning wickedly she rolled him over onto his back, her hips straddling his. “Dr Wilson, you know all the right things to say.” “James. Call me James.”

hii !! 🫶🏻 just discovered your account and i love it !! :) i was wondering if you could write some more headcannons about ellie? like, what job would she do? etc. i like to think that if she existed today, she'd probably be an illustrator for children's books !! that'd be so cool, tbh. i can see her making books about space or dinosaurs, and going to book fairs at schools to meet kiddos and talk to them about it. (crossover with professor!abby who used to teach little kids 🫶🏻🫶🏻) aah. sorry for rambling. but like, i just think ellie would have a blast if she existed today. like with all the museums ?? all the new ways to make art ?? but anyway !! what are *your* headcannons for modern ellie !! 🪐🫶🏻
modern!ellie’s job!! (hc) 🦕
thx for the request bae cause this made me smile so big. i have SO many hcs for modern ellie like i’ve been waiting for this moment!!!!! also dw about rambling i love to hear your thoughts 🤗
Tumblr media
ok for starters i think ellie would be a nerd in high school. i know that some people headcanon her as a jock or a stoner (and that ellie has a special place in my heart) but i definitely think she’d be the opposite tbh. i imagine her with only a few friends (dina, jesse, cat). and i also think she’d have insanely good grades because she’s just smart like that. and all of her teachers love her because even though she’s quiet, she’s really kind and creative.
also i think her family would be just her and joel and maybe a dog. like imagine her spending her weekends getting guitar lessons from joel and then taking her dog on a walk and documenting it in her journal. she would fr have such a blast!!!!
for college i definitely think she’d major in astronomy/astrophysics or maybe art history?? and in her last years of college, she’d get a job as a secretary for a science museum. honestly, she didn’t hate it, but she was super jealous of the tour guide because she got to take all of the cute little kids on a walk and talk about the fun stuff while ellie had to sit behind a desk all day. but after begging her supervisor enough, she’d get promoted to tour guide after the mean old lady who used to do it retired.
and guess what??? the kiddos loved her!!! she always made sure the kids were having a great time and she knew a lot about what she was talking about, whether it was dinosaurs or planets or volcanoes. and the joke book came everywhere with her!! absolutely nothing made her happier than hearing the little monsters giggling and squealing about a joke that wasn’t even that funny.
abby and ellie would become good friends because of the time abby took her class to the museum on a field trip. they ended up actually really liking each other, especially because they had so much in common. and sometimes after work they’d meet up at a bar and talk about life, it was nice for them to both have a new friend who was equally as nerdy.
ellie would be a tour guide for quite a few years while abby got her doctorate. a few years after abby became a professor, ellie tried out illustrating a childrens book for a local visitor at the museum who was really fond of ellie. it was nothing too big, but she was really proud of it.
after she finished the drawings for the book, she wanted to try writing one of her own. so she decided to write a textbook for kids about dinosaurs with her own illustrations and a joke on every page.
safe to say it was super successful!!! she ended up going to local elementary schools and educating the littles about the different types of dinosaurs and each era they lived in. and you better believe old man joel was so proud!!!! his little girl ellie that he used to take to dinosaur museums was now writing her own dinosaur books!!!
i think eventually she’d quit her job at the museum and focus on being a writer full time, along with keeping art as a hobby. and i can 100% see her getting married and adopting a kid just like joel adopted her, and she’d pass on all of her science knowledge to her mini self. also i think she’d mainly only write science textbooks for kids, but may end up publishing a sci-fi novel or two.
i think that’s all :3 thanks for the ask sweetie pie ilysm 🫶

You Can Start a Family (Chapter 2)
Tumblr media
Summary: Movie night with the Rowland family shifts gears for the trio.
Thank you to everyone who read part one! I could not believe how many notes that received in just one day! If you haven't read it yet you can find chapter 1 here
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tammy’s next two surgeries also went as planned and left her family breathing a sigh of relief. She spiked a post-op fever after the final surgery which extended her hospital stay by a few days, but once she became stable again, she was able to go home to finish recovering. She would be assessed to see if there were any more abnormal cells in her labs. If there were, she would likely begin a course of treatment but if not, she would be considered cured.
You had started to see Mitch and Sarah around more often. Once Tammy came home, they would all sit out on the front porch, since the fresh air made her feel better. Any time you were outside with Ryan you would pop over to say hi. You hadn’t met Mark and Tammy previously but were now very invested in her recovery. You would occasionally bring over more baked goods and sometimes a tray of food for their dinner. It had always been ingrained in you to help take care of the people around you.
You no longer fangirled when you saw Mitch and Sarah. After just a few quick conversations you were very comfortable with them, and they felt just like any of the other neighbors on the street. You actually felt closer to them than anyone else you had met in town. In the year you lived there you hadn’t had a lot of opportunities to meet people. Plus, the area you were in was home mostly to retirees. If you went to the center of town you were surrounded by the local college students who seemed so young. Even though Mitch and Sarah were a bit older than you and were pretty famous musicians, you felt like you got along with them quite well.
They felt the same way around you. Each time you stopped by they found themselves smiling, excited to talk to you and hear how your day has been going. They always invited you to stay for dinner when you brought them food, and after declining a couple of times you decided to take them up on the offer. While you didn’t eat with them all the time, you had been to their house on a few occasions over the past couple weeks. You enjoyed everyone’s company, and it was nice to have people to share a meal with again.
One evening about a month after first meeting Mitch and Sarah you were helping get dinner ready while Tammy and Mark were at a doctors appointment. Just as you were putting the last dish on the table they walked in the door. “I’m officially cancer free!” Tammy shouted immediately.
There was a second of processing time and the next thing you knew everyone was cheering and laughing out of pure relief. You found yourself hugging each member of the family. Each hug was fleeting, and after they ended you found yourself craving more. Aside from the occasional cuddle from baby Ryan, you rarely had any physical contact with anyone. Before that moment you hadn’t realized how starved you were for human affection.
You pushed that thought aside and focused on the conversation around you as everyone sat down for dinner. They all complimented you on the meal, as it was one you hadn’t made for them before.
“Thank you! It was always one of my favorites that my mom made. Took me a few tries to get it right, but I think I finally figured out all of the ingredients.” Sarah was watching you closely as you mentioned your mother and noticed how you once again spoke of your family in past tense. It had happened a couple of times, but Sarah had yet to ask any personal questions that would confirm her suspicions.
After dinner everyone moved into the living room to watch The Princess Bride since it was one of Tammy’s favorite movies. She and Mark sat on the loveseat and Sarah took the right end of the couch. You sat on the other cushion while Mitch set up the DVD player to start the movie. Once it was playing, he walked back to the couch, and you realized you were in the middle of the open space. You went to slide to the other edge, but Mitch sat there before you could move that way, pushing you to the middle between him and Sarah. It wasn’t exactly a large couch and you tried to make yourself as small as possible but that didn’t stop their limbs from occasionally brushing against yours.
Each point of contact sent a feeling of warmth through you that seemed to stay even after they moved away. You really thought you had gotten over your nervousness around the couple, but you were definitely feeling it again tonight. Shortly into the movie you started to think that this specific tension you were feeling had less to do with the fact that they were celebrities, and more to do with the fact that they were two people you found quite attractive.
It would be a lie to say you hadn’t formed slight crushes on both of them, even before you all had met. It was impossible not to, they’re incredibly talented and very easy on the eyes. You actively tried to squash out the crush now that they were real people in your life rather than individuals who just existed in videos on the internet. But in this moment, you simply couldn’t ignore the way they were making you feel.
Seeing you shiver, both from the feeling of Sarah’s thigh rubbing against yours and because you were legitimately a little cold, Mitch got up and grabbed a large blanket. He sat back down even closer than before in order to lay the blanket across the three of you.
In an effort to keep from freaking out about the now constant contact, you glance over at Mitch’s parents and realize Mark is very busy with something on his phone. A few minutes later the movie ends, and you immediately learn why.
Mark turns to his wife and says, “I’ve been texting with Susan and Jim. If you’re feeling up to it, they’d love for us to spend the weekend at the cabin with them. You could tell them the good news, and we can celebrate together.”
“I would absolutely love that! Thank you so much for coordinating this, dear,” Tammy replies and leans in to give her husband a kiss.
"And you're sure you feel up to it?"
"I can sit around the cabin resting just as well as I can sit around here resting. As long as you're not planning for us to hike a waterfall I'll be fine."
“Well if that's the case they'll pick us up tomorrow morning around 10.” “Oh gosh then we’d better pack and get to bed. It’s been too long since we’ve had a weekend away. And even longer since we’ve hung out with Sue and Jim. This is such a wonderful surprise.”
They walk over to the stairs and Tammy turns around saying, “Good night kids. Don’t stay up too late!”
“Mom, we're adults, I think we can handle a later bedtime on a Friday night.” Mitch replied with a smirk.
“I know, I know. A mother’s habits never go away. Y/N, feel free to stay over if it gets too late. These roads are terrible at night.”
You all finish saying good night and Mark and Tammy head upstairs. Mitch picks the remote up and starts playing Schitt’s Creek. You had seen it a couple of times before and it had quickly become one of your favorites. Upon learning that Mitch and Sarah hadn’t watched it yet you insisted that it be the next show they start.
The second episode of the night started playing and Sarah shifted next to you, putting her arm on the couch behind you. At first you thought she was just readjusting to be more comfortable, but a minute later you felt her fingers start to comb through your hair. You tensed at first but quickly relaxed, allowing yourself to enjoy the attention. After a few minutes of her fingers playing with the ends of your hair, she slid her hand to the left side of your head. You felt her put pressure on the side of your head, pushing you gently towards herself. Hoping you were guessing correctly, you leaned your head onto Sarah’s shoulder. She immediately placed her head gently on top of yours and began to scratch at your scalp. It felt heavenly and you practically melted at the attention.
Mitch was watching very carefully out of the corner of his eye to see your reactions to all of this. So far everything seemed to be accepted and welcomed. Mitch and Sarah shared a look communicating that it was time for the next test. You reacted positively to friendly touch, but what about something a little more intimate?
At the start of the next episode, Mitch slid his hand to rest on your knee as casually as he could. You again immediately tensed, first due to the surprise of the sudden contact, then because no one had ever touched you like that before, and finally because you realized this attention was coming from a married man. You had a brief moment of panic, wondering what he was doing. You looked down at your leg and realized it was a rather thin blanket, and you could easily see that his hand was resting on your knee. Which meant that Sarah could also see what was happening and chose that moment to place a soft kiss against the top of your head. It felt like a signal that everything was fine.
You once again relaxed, allowing yourself to simply be present in that moment and forced yourself not to overthink what was happening. Clearly Mitch and Sarah had some sort of agreement where this kind of physical touch with another person was okay.
You focused on the way Sarah’s head rested so gently on yours and on the shapes Mitch was drawing on your leg as he casually ran fingers back and forth. You knew this was all platonic, but you couldn’t stop the passing thought wondering what it would be like if his hand moved higher on your thigh. You tried not to think of that and instead got lost in the sensations once again.
You were no longer paying attention to the show, practically falling asleep as Mitch and Sarah lulled you into a mindset of peace, comfort, and safety. Suddenly the trumpets from the credits’ music jolted you awake, and you lifted your head off Sarah’s shoulder as Mitch’s hand slipped off of your leg. You looked at the clock on the wall and realized it had gotten quite late.
“I should probably be getting home,” you said, choosing to look at your own hands rather than at either of them yet.
“Like my mom said, you’re welcome to stay here. It's so dark on these streets and everyone drives like idiots.”
“Thanks, but if I don’t get home and feed the cats, they’ll poop on my pillow to teach me a lesson.” As much as you wanted to stay, you needed time alone to process whatever it was that just happened.
Sarah stood up from the couch first, grabbing the blanket to fold it and put it back in the basket.
As they walked you to the door Sarah asked, “Are you busy this weekend?”
“Aside from my normal weekend tasks of cleaning and going to the grocery store, my schedule is wide open.”
“Would you like to spend the weekend here with us? It’ll be pretty quiet with Tammy and Mark away,” Sarah continued. Mitch suspected what she was up to but kept his thoughts to himself for the time being, curious to see how you would respond.
After a brief pause you replied, “Yea, that sounds nice!”
“Great! Why don’t you come by around noon? We can start with lunch and see where the day takes us. Oh, and make sure to pack a bag, I’m thinking a slumber party could be quite fun.”
“Okay, but only if I get to braid Mitch’s hair,” you replied cheekily, causing Sarah to laugh and Mitch to roll his eyes with a hint of a small smile.
“Sounds like a plan,” Sarah states before pulling you in for a hug. Your arms wrap around her waist while hers tighten around your shoulders before she gently rubs your back. It was a longer hug than you were expecting, one that you had been craving since dinnertime. “Sleep well darling,” she says softly before giving a final squeeze and letting go. Mitch pulls you in next, holding you in a tight embrace that again goes on for longer than you expect. He places a kiss to the top of your head before saying a quiet “Get home safe.”
You blush and duck your head before glancing back up to say goodbye. You finally turn and walk to your car, your head full of confusing, but ultimately happy thoughts.
As they watch you leave, Mitch stands behind Sarah and wraps his arms around her waist. He leans down, pressing a kiss to her neck before leaning to her ear and saying in a low voice, “Are you plotting something?”
“You make me sound so devious Mitchell. I’m simply creating an opportunity for something to happen naturally.”
“And what exactly is this something that you hope will happen?”
“I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.” With that, Sarah turns around and pulls Mitch in for a deep kiss, breaking apart before they get too heated. After all, their room was directly next to his parents. That would simply have to wait until Tammy and Mark were out of town.

lana on a tuesday
annie hated this fucking woman. she didn't really know what to do about it. fire her as a patient? it was an option. every week, she came in complaining about every interaction in her life, seemingly never connecting the dots. annie patiently tried to get her to imagine her life from the perspective of others to no avail. annie often cried after lana's sessions.
this week, lana was upset about a comment a coworker had made about her manner of dress -- she'd commented that it was very formal, and lana took this as a slight. she told annie that she'd attempted to get several coworkers to wear tuxedos and ball gowns to mock this woman. they had not agreed to it.
"that makes sense to me," annie said.
"why?" lana said.
"because it's a bitchy thing to do."
lana snorted. "not very professional language, doctor."
"sometimes there's only one word for something. well, maybe two."
lana got where annie was going with this. "fuck you."
"lana," annie said. "do you know the saying, 'if you meet one asshole in a day, you met an asshole...'?"
"i'm paying you to say this to me?" lana said. "what are you, fucking 26 years old? what do you know about anything?"
"i have a doctorate in psychology." annie knew she was pushing lana, and she was officially doing it on purpose. "it may not compare to an associates degree from antisocial bitch secretarial academy but--"
lana slapped her.
"oh," annie said.
lana stormed out of the office.
annie laughed, and then cried. then she slowly crossed the hall to mark's office to borrow a cigarette.
"what happened?" he asked.
"patient hit me," she said.
"holy shit," mark said. "did you deserve it?"
"kind of," annie said.
"guy grabbed my throat one time," he said. "a vet with PTSD. hard to blame him. he was very apologetic and we made a lot of progress."
"i'm never letting that patient back into the building," annie said.
"well, your call," he said.
annie took the cigarette he extended to her and went back to her office. she leaned out the window and smoked slowly.
"annie?" a voice called. it was ted. shit. she'd lost track of time and it was ted's appointment now.
"you're a smoker?" he said, bemused.
"no," she said, stubbing it out. "only when i'm stressed out."
"sorry to hear that," he said. "what happened?"
"a patient got physical with me," she said.
ted looked around, like he was immediately ready to go to battle for annie. she was charmed. "it was a woman," she clarified. just a slap. one that i probably deserved."
"i doubt that," ted said.
annie was pulling herself together. "come in, sit down, sorry, i didn't realize the time."
"it's fine," he said, settling down. annie immediately grinned at his pleasant, handsome face.
"it's nice to see you," she said.
ted had good news and bad news -- more of the same old bad news. but the good news was, he'd talked to his daughter and she'd been horrified to hear he'd thought there was any defiance in her gesture. she'd been worried he was mad she was having oral sex with her boyfriend but told him at once it had never occurred to her to cover herself from him. he'd clarified that oral sex was a great thing to be doing at her age. he also mentioned that this morning, while his wife was still in bed, his daughter had come out of the shower fully nude to chat with him.
annie's first instinct was that this was a little weird, but at the same time if ted had asked her to get naked in her office right now, she'd probably have done it, and not even in a sexual way. just a show of general affection and trust.
ted went on to talk about some recent conflicts with his wife. god, this woman never stopped moving the goalpost on this poor guy. he told me that the only time they felt connected at all was when they were fucking, which luckily still happened very often. he said a few nights ago, the last time, he'd watched her sucking his cock and wondered how she could be like this in the bedroom and so unlike it everywhere else. annie was extremely aware that the image of ted getting his cock sucked was making her panties damp.
"maybe you're just really good at sex?" annie proposed, angry at herself for flirting instead of working.
"ha," he said. "maybe."
"i do think you could focus on that," she said. "just... have sex as often as possible. keep the positive emotions going."
"i'm lucky if i can manage two times in a day," he said.
"i've got those pills," annie offered. "i mean, just to try as something for your wife, not for you."
"do you have any experience with them?" ted asked. "i mean, probably not. you're so young."
"i do actually," annie said. "i had a partner who was older, and we used one."
"how did it work?"
"oh, very well," annie giggled.
"no, i mean like, what exactly did he do?"
"oh," annie said. "well, he took a pill just as we started fooling around, and he spent some time going down on me. then he told me to go down on him, and... pop. he um, got hard in my mouth and he stayed hard for a very long time."
"how long? like, ask your doctor if..."
"no, no," annie said. "but he had two orgasms and the first one, i don't even know when it happened," she said. "i just... you know, i realized after. we didn't stop between them."
"that'd be nice," he said.
"yeah," she said. she got up and gave him a sample pack. "don't take more than one at once."
"i like that you shared that with me," ted said. "you know, it's the same trust and intimacy you were talking about with my daughter."
"yes, i suppose so."
"it was not a conscious disclosure, then? not a therapist tactic."
"what do you mean?"
"sometimes, you're a little flirty with me," ted said. "and it feels like a sort of therapist's trick. it's not a bad thing, but just... i was wondering if that's what the viagra story was."
annie grinned. "ted, i do really trust you so i will be totally candid," she said. "i do flirt and disclose things about myself as a sort of technique for building trust or affection with patients. and i have done that with you in the past. but honestly, today i am just being flirty and honest because i had a hard time with my last patient and i trust and feel safe with you. i like you, i think you're a good guy."
"i appreciate that," ted said. "you have had a long day. you want to blow off the rest of our hour and i'll buy you a drink?"
annie sighed. "yes," she said.
sitting across from ted in a booth at a bar, annie felt like he was much more physically imposing. he was about 6 feet for sure, with a broad chest and big arms. that was the part she was noticing more. the big shoulders in the small booth. annie felt tiny across from him in a way that made her shockingly aroused. in her spacious office, she was in control. her chair was taller than the couch, and she always sat very unright around ted, to show her attentiveness and to make her tits look bigger. and because she often had her back to the window, she often felt even more elevated or removed. here, they were so close together. she wondered if he could smell her.
"you have a boyfriend?" he asked.
"yeah," annie said. "ryan."
"what does he do?"
"he's a lawyer for a medical company. we met at a conference."
"that's kind of cute," ted said. "a little cross-industry romance."
"well, it was a drunken hookup at first," she said.
ted laughed.
"but then it just... kept going."
"how is it going now?"
"well, i don't really feel like he ever asks me anything about myself anymore," she said. "and i always initiate sex. he's always distracted. i'm throwing myself at him."
"lucky guy," ted said. "sounds like he's not as good at compartmentalizing work from life as you are."
"yeah," annie said, seeing ryan more charitably all of a sudden. "i mean, i was trained to do that."
"do you think that ever backfires?" ted asked. "does it make you kind of an emotional robot?"
"when i'm on the phone with my mom," annie replied.
ted laughed again. "you are very funny."
annie was imagining what it would be like if ted fucked her in his car. would he even be able to move with shoulders that big?
"what do you like best about your boyfriend?" he asked.
"he's so good with people," annie said. "remembers names, knows how to hang with anybody, he's the life of the party in a classy way," she said. "what do you like best about your wife?"
ted thought. "her pussy."
annie laughed. "honestly, i hope that's ryan's answer too. all of my holes."
she put her hand over her mouth in shock -- she hadn't meant to say something so dirty to ted. he was grinning.
"how do you think he'd rank them?" he asked.
"ass, mouth, pussy," annie said immediately.
"pussy last?" ted said. "no way."
"well, he gets my ass least often," she said. "and i know i give really good head."
"but i'm sure your pussy is immaculate," he said. annie's mouth involuntarily opened a bit. "especially in the summer when you shave it all clean for him?"
"well i shave it for bikinis," she said. "not him. i keep it smooth underneath, for him, all year."
"i love that about you," he said. "a busy professional woman but you know how to take care of your pussy."
"i sure do," she said.
"i love talking about this with you."
"me too," annie said. "but honestly my panties are so wet i really need to go to the bathroom and take them off because i'm very uncomfortable now," she said.
"be my guest," he said.
annie fantasized he'd follow her in. she'd have done anything he wanted. but he didn't. she went back to the booth and did a little performative shiver.
"where are they now?" he asked.
"in my purse," annie said. she lifted them out just slightly.
"red," he said. "nice."
"i know we're really crossing some lines here," annie said. "but i hope that's OK. i hope that you don't think less of me as a therapist."
"I can see you both as a therapist and as a woman," he said.
Annie mentally began to chew on the ambiguity of that statement.
"We're both going to go home after this and fuck the shit out of our significant others," he said. "And we've helped each other, in that way."
"Yes," Annie said. "Yes."
They said goodbye shortly after. Ryan texted Annie to see if she was coming over. "Not tonight," she texted. "Feeling a little under the weather."
She went back to her apartment and masturbated for four hours.

💔😭🛌🥣🤢🤮 for one of your boys? 🖤
This is a great one, thank you! From this ask game.
The trio has a movie night with Isaiah stress sick all day until it finally downs at him. Vomiting, angst, heartache and lots of comfort.
Movie night
It started with the phone call.
"Your brother is back in town."
That was all it took. A friendly warning from Sonny that Hector was back from his exchange semester. They would probably meeting again at the nearest wolf event. If he didn't go they would meet at the next one.
There would be no avoiding Hector anymore.
That was alright. They knew how to get along civilialy. Right?
After getting the call, Isaiah couldn't eat. He hated how it messed up his whole day. His focus was shot, he kept forgetting what he was planning to do. While reading his preparation texts for uni the letters swam in front of his eyes and he didn't dare send any coordinating emails for work when he was so confused.
He stayed at home, pacing the apartment and fighting the lingering nausea that just accompanied him everywhere. He didn't dare to eat, just keeping hydrated. It was the weirdest feeling. He felt restless and tired and the same time. Waiting for something to be over that there was no running from.
His self-pitying parade ended when Seline and Matthew came home.
"I got the popcorn and Matthew got the cola!" Seline said instead of a greeting. "So I hope you got that free evening we talked about."
"Free evening?" Isaiah asked, confused. Damn, what else did he forget today?
"Yes. It's Wednesday. Our movie night. Remember?"
Ah right. Seline kept coming up with these ideas where they would all see or meet each other regularly doing activities together. It was like she was afraid they would drift apart before they even got close.
In the name of bonding time, she came up with traditions for starts and ends of semesters, holidays, conclusion of exam season and regular common events.
It was heartwarming in effort, a little awkward in its schedule. But they all agreed it was justified. Isaiah lived alone since he was 18 and he didn't talk with his family properly since that day. Matthew spent his teenage years in a boarding school.
Seline was the only one with a nice stable family - if the daily calls to her mom and weekly visits she came all happy from were anything to go by - but since she didn't live in Vienna until this year and out of many other complicated reasons, she had very few friends in the city itself.
Isaiah got the impression she was on a quest to change this, and it was a purposeful decision she was doing her best planning and preparing for.
He couldn't be angry, and he couldn't say no to that effort. Even if having a movie night was the last thing on his mind. His chest was feeling tight, probably from the angsting he was doing all day and the nausea was still very much there although his stomach hurt from hunger.
It was horrible to come to terms with his heart issues because he pushed his emotions and shadow down so successfully for years after moving out, it became his weak spot. If there was anything stressful or upsetting, it went right there. The damage was done, permanent. The doctor he saw about it said it was very rare for shadow wolves to contract such lasting issues in life. Shadows could heal anything aside silver - but they couldn't heal damage they caused themselves. And this was a gradual one, caused over time, little tears around the heart valve that wouldn't to away anymore.
That one was entirely on Isaiah.
He didn't tell anyone. It would be entirely discrediting for all the packs if they knew he had such an injury, such obvious weakness. They would tear him to pieces or never take him seriously again. His influence would be shot.
Only Matthew knew a little. Since that unfortunate day when he helped him home and watched him get sick. Though Isaiah didn't really explain and didn't know how serious it was at the time.
Isaiah didn't realize all the preparations were ready as he sat on the couch in thought. He was really out of it today to not join in any way.
Seline made the pop corn, Matthew brought the big cola bottles and before Isaiah knew how it happened, he had a glass of it pushed into his hand. The lights were shut and the beginning of Mad Max: Fury road started to play.
"You picked this for us so we would have some action?" Matthew asked, stretching on the sofa completely with a handful of popcorn gathered in his hand.
Seline glared at the lack of a bowl, but seated herself across Isaiah in the corner of the sofa.
"This movie is so much more than mere action. I admit the plot is simple, but that's so you can focus your attention on all the details of the worldbuilding. There are amazing social themes about humanity, apocalypse, reactions, dictatorship, oppression, brainwashing and power of friendship, redemption. The brutality of the fights and the agressive music contrast with the small moments of kindness and softness..."
Seline got into her triad as the titles started playing.
Isaiah held his glass stiffly. He didn't want to be here. Somehow until now he didn't realize how intrusive it would be to live with others. He liked company and was good with people on a normal day, but he had days like these too and he didn't...it was very stupid it didn't connect until now. That he wouldn't be able to have lonely evenings of suffering in peace, that his secrets would be held under scrutiny, that his presence would be demanded and expected.
He wanted to be left with his dark thoughts, heart episodes and damaged family ties in peace.
He also couldn't leave without breaking a promise and alarming them that something was wrong.
The only thing he managed to come up with was to slide down from the couch onto the floor, leaning his back against it. At least a bit of privacy.
The cola in his hand smelled sweet and inviting and it was supposed to help with stomach issues, right? He took a few sips, feeling the rush of sugar calming his hunger pains.
It calmed him a little. Seline kept stopping the movie to underline some kind of important cue or meta fact. Matthew was getting crazy angry over it, except he talked right through the movie, when commenting or exclaiming suddenly about a well made fight scene.
Isaiah actually relaxed for a bit, getting his mind of things as he listed. He wasn't getting much from the movie, it was all too fast and colourful, but he was feeling marginally better.
So it was to is utterly surprise when the nausea returned. His stomach was bubbling angrily with the few mouthfuls of cola, sloshing painfully.
It wasn't fair. He wasn't even overthinking this anymore!
Isaiah tried to take deep breaths and calm himself down. If this was simply from stress, maybe it would go away soon.
Then his stomach gave a light squeeze. Liquid shot up his throat, the taste of cola flooded his tounge. He tried to swollow it down, but it surprised him so much he gasped and the sugary vomit spilled out, right down his front.
There was no warning, no sound, no fight. One minute he was fine, fighting the roiling liquid down and the next it dripped from his chin at the small splash in the center of his chest.
Isaiah was mortified, body going rigid. He had no idea how that happened. No heaving, no warning. He didn't feel any worse than he did the whole day, aside the constant dull ache in his stomach.
Did he seriously just throw up on himself in the middle of a movie?
The only saving grace was the fact no one seemed to notice. Seline and Matthew were too invested in the loud action of the movie and he was hidden away from direct sight, sitting on the floor like that.
He could simply get up and disappear into the bathroom. Change his clothes and act like nothing happened. It was just a little accident. Not like anybody had to know.
Except then he felt the liquid shoot up his throat again, the force accompanied by an agonising stab in his middle. All he managed was to hang his head over himself as it sprayed out of his mouth. Just a small sip of black liquid joining the first splash. His teeth felt sticky and eroded from it.
His body gave a whole-bodied shudder. His right hand hovered about his chest, but he felt paralysed by the disgust of it all. He who thought himself so good in control? This was so humiliating and gross...
A quite pitiful sound escaped him then, something between a sob and a sight. He wanted to fall down the floor and disappear.
And it had such an easy solution, if he just made himself get up already. No chance though, his body was locked up and frozen in place.
His heart was beating in his ears, painful electric impulses. The nausea was ever-present, only rising with his pulse and his stomach was doing flip flops for no reason.
"Hey, Isaiah? Are you paying attention?" Seline asked, interrupting his haze.
Isaiah gulped and nodded, hoping that would satisfy her. His ears were ringing, so he only half-heard the film. His stomach hurt, curled around itself like around a fist.
"Isaiah?" She asked tentatively and stopped the movie.
The room fell in uneasy silence. Isaiah's panting breaths sounded too loud against it.
And then something even worse happened. Matthew stretched out behind himself to turn on the switch, basking Isaiah's complete emberassment in bright light.
Isaiah shut his eyes against the onslaught of artificial rays, hanging his head and panting through rising panic.
"What the hell-" Matthew grumbled in surprise.
"Isaiah? Hey, hey, hey, what's wrong?" Seline's voice was melted honey, the softest sound he ever heard.
"I'm sorry," he whispered, pressing his hands against his eyes, hopefully hanging his head low enough to hide the worst of the mess on his chest. "Please, don't look at me." He sounded as pathetic as he felt. Just great.
"Isaiah," she cooed and he heard her sliding down the couch next to him. Cold hands were suddenly at the side of his face, her fingers in his hair, stroking his curls gently. Since he didn't slick them back today they were more wavy around his face, sticky with sweat.
"Does your belly hurt? Do you feel sick? What is it?" She asked, not pulling away from his hair.
Isaiah just shook his head, bowing further.
"Matthew, can you get me some paper towels," Seline said, voice soft but decisive. He heard Matthew's hurried footsteps on the floor. He didn't bother to look for his shoes before he went.
"Sweetie, please look at me," Seline said, treading her fingers through his overwarm, wet hair. "It's alright. You are okay."
Isaiah hid his face in his hands. The splutter of cola felt cold against his chest as it dried off and the smell of it mixed with stomach acid irrated his nose. He wanted to curl up on the floor and disappear.
This was so humiliating. With the silver poisoning, at least he was too out of it and it was too serious, serious enough to warrant his failure of senses. But this was just unforgivable, weak and repulsive. He felt so repulsive-
"Sweetie, come on. It's okay. Nobody is angry. Please, believe me." Seline slid closer to him, leaning her shoulder against his, one arm coming up around him to pull him against her, while the other kept stroking his hair.
"I'm sorry, I don't know- I don't-" His shoulders hitched with the sob. Selined leaned even closer, as if not disgusted by the the mess and the smell or by the display. She was full on hugging him now, her head against his neck.
"Shhh. You don't have to apologise, sweetheart."
Isaiah finally dropped his hands from his face, all pale and sweaty. He needed to see her, to make sure she wasn't joking. "Look at me, Seline. How can you-? I'm disgusting-"
As he turned his head he met her stare, bright baby blue eyes just centimeters from his. This was the closest their faces ever were together.
"Don't say that, sweetie. Darling. Dearest. Honey."
Isaiah huffed out a tiny laugh. He couldn't help it. He was a mess, and she was holding him, calling him all those weird sweet things, pressing herself against him as if nothing of that was true, as if his state wasn't absolutely unforgivable and sickening...
And she was doing it with that familiar fiery stubbornness and in that soft steely voice he couldn't resist.
Isaiah leaned his forehead against hers, just for a second forgetting how disgusting it all was. Just accepting the comfort, the touch, the blooming smell of her, like jasmine and peppermint.
He breathed in and out, only now realizing he could do it slow and proper again. His chest wasn't tight and pulsing anymore, and the pressure in his stomach eased up to exhausted but bearable soreness.
He waited for Matthew to get back with a fresh shirt and the towels, wrapped in her presence and reassurance.

Paradox Live Episode 7 Review - Boys On The Rooftop
Before I start the review, I want to thank people who left comments on my review of the previous episode. I really appreciate your time explaining to me about the source material and what part was anime original and what not. I’m glad I’m writing reviews. The engagement and interactions motivate me to keep going. Now, onto the review!
Tumblr media
(TW: S**cide)
I was told last week that this week’s episode was going to be a strong one. I agree with their statement wholeheartedly. This was quite the episode. It answered the questions I had in the previous episode, but also gave me new questions. It was nice to see the overall plot slowly coming into play here.
Last episode, Shiki told Ryu that the ghost in that building could’ve been the friend that he killed. While Ryu doesn’t believe him (also had some weird split personality moment), Shiki decides to head out to check the building one day. It turns out that he has a past with Nayuta. Shiki grew up a loner, but encountered Nayuta one day and became friends. Their friendship was so cute and sweet to look at! Nayuta had a mysterious part-time job that turned out to being a lab rat; I assume he was being experimented on by Alter Trigger? Anyways, the experiments got to be too much as he developed Phantometal corrosion and decided to jump off the building to not make Kanata worry. Unfortunately, this left Shiki traumatized for good. I finally understand why he’s always apologizing when getting a trap reaction. That is seriously something traumatizing for Shiki.
Now this pegs the question of just who Nayuta is. Why is Nayuta still alive with Kanata but supposedly died when he was with Shiki a few years ago? What’s with the long-haired Nayuta in the post-credit scenes? I made some theories after watching the episode. I think Nayuta survived the fall in the past and that’s why he’s stuck in the lab present day. But then who’s the Nayuta with Kanata in the current time? I’m theorizing that the current Nayuta is an apparition created from Kanata’s phantometal as that was the reason why Kanata had a nightmare about Nayuta dissolving into liquid. Maybe he knew Nayuta had died, so he uses his phantom metal to create a projection? But he can still eat, right? Or was the bowl that ramen guy was eyeing in Episode 5 Nayuta’s? All I can say is that there’s really more to Nayuta than meets the eye. I really want to know the truth.
Is phantometal corrosion the reason why Hajun is visiting a back-alley doctor? Does Hajun have symptoms? Can it be cured? I hope this illness can be explained in a future episode, because I think it makes the plot even more interesting than before. Is the Akira Ishida character the final boss of sorts?
The special ending song with Nayuta and Shiki was wonderful! I really liked it! I think the lyrics summarize their relationship perfectly. Is this a new Paradox Live song or something they had before? The special artwork was really beautiful. I’m making it the thumbnail for this review because that is way too gorgeous to pass up. Also, what I noticed was that the preview for this episode was shrouded in purple and blue last week. This makes sense as Nayuta is in cozmez and Shiki’s in TCW. I do wonder why they titled it “Love”. Are they hinted to be canon? ARE THERE EVEN ANY CANON PAIRS IN THIS STORY?
When my bunch of questions are answered, I get more. I’m getting invested in Paradox Live a lot. I can’t wait for next week as it seems to be BAE vs Akan Yatsura. I hope it’d be a good episode! What are your thoughts on this episode?

Stop right now. I need some adventures of tiny batmom!?
Dr. Abigail Smith had never wanted children. They were loud, unruly, and messy. And in her perfectly ordered life there was no room for that nonsense.
But. When a 12-year-old girl got the drop on them and tore the cult they'd been sent to stop apart with some well placed Molotov cocktails thrown at ammunition they didn't know existed. When she screamed and it was this primal, furious sound that made her heart break. Screaming for a baby they'd ripped out of her body- Dr. Abigail Smith couldn't just leave her behind.
Intelligent though practically illiterate- it was decided that the best place for her was in the care of the female operatives. Where she could be trained and educated. Men scared her. Loud noises scared her. She crept through the tunnels always expecting to be hit. Any minor mistake set her to flinching when you walked towards her.
In the last two weeks, no one had gotten more than a few words out of her. She ate- a lot. Anything they'd give her. Snacks, meals if Abigail hadn't seen the medical reports, she'd suspect a tapeworm OR that the girl was powered by a small black hole.
And now, she stood, tucked in a shadowy corner near a staircase, following the sound of the agents laughing. Watching as they settled in to watch movies. Tense- ready to bolt at the first sign someone noticed her. Abigail moved slowly keeping her hands relaxed and visible, "76?"
"Doctor," you answered, your eyes not meeting Abigail's.
"We've got some snacks for the movie," she coaxed, feeling ridiculous. This wasn't a wild animal. But it was the only thing she knew that might keep you from hiding in your closet. The bed being too soft and too exposed for sleeping on. "Are you hungry? I think Chelle and Danya made some cookies. And there's popcorn."
Abigail held out a hand for you to take and wiggled her fingers, feeling oddly comforted when tiny, freezing fingers wrap around hers carefully.
If the other agents noticed, no one said anything as they watched Abbie put her new pet project on a stool and ply her with snacks- you were too cute and too traumatized for any of them to dislike you.
The lights turned down and the movie started and Abbie quietly took a seat- far enough from you to give you space to bolt but close enough that you could speak to her- and when the movie credits started, her heart broke.
You leaned forward just a little, entranced. The only sign you were paying attention was your stillness. The snacks she'd put on a plate for you were ignored and your pupils were huge. Reminding her irresistibly of a cat with a laser pointer. At points, tears slid down your little face and it wasn't until the movie ended and the lights went up that you looked around, blinking at the change.
"Got something you want to ask Santa for?" she tried.
"Santa wouldn't care about me," you shrug, "Even if he was real."
"How do you know-"
"Father said he was made up. And Christmas was just pagan-"
"Well if your father said it, isn't that a better reason to believe?" she asked, teasing lightly. This was the most you'd said since you gave your statement for their records.
"Pretty sure murderers don't get put on the nice list."
And before she can say anything, you're gone. With your snacks. Suddenly feeling too exposed and too anxious to be anywhere but the corner of your closet where you'd made your little nest.

Tallying up the Year
I hope you guys' december (which is almost over already, wtf) is going/has gone well! 2024 is upon us.
This christmas weekend, I mostly found myself thinking about how this year went, and honestly? despite all the things I haven't gotten to do, I still managed to accomplish quite a lot.
Me typing this rambly post out is less anything anyone needs to read, but more to remind myself of Things That Got Done™ than anything else because sometimes... I forget I do be getting shit done! And it's important we remind ourselves of the work we do.
The Things That got Done™
I advocated for my own Health. I scheduled (and went to!) so many doctor and dental appointments this year, holy shit. But, if the last few years have taught me anything, I simply have to put in the effort. I got my colon mostly sorted out, started a new regimen for my skin and hair (after chopping it off) so I'm feeling better, schedule an appointment with the optometrist in January, and even got lots of issues with my teeth fixed. Granted, our broken medical system made it incredibly stressful, and i spent thousands of dollars on the latter that I will be paying off til next july BUT!!!! This section is about the good things.
Started Streaming Again! I've been missing streaming since I stopped way back in I believe 2020. It was a fun way to interact with followers and supporters, so I'm glad I'm back to it on a regular schedule, with many of the old regulars still joining me while I work. Speaking of which:
I finished 43 total stream doodles. While I'm only filling a handful a month, it's definitely adding up! 40+ boys in the span of 5 months is nothing to scoff at, and that's not even considering that I'm doing this alongside normal patreon work.
I finished 39 total commissions this year. I'm definitely still going quite slowly, and I thank everyone who has been extraordinarily patient thus far, but I'm happy to say that my pace has been decent... at least relative to previous years. I got more done in the last 5 months than i did in the roughly year and a half period before 2023!
Replaced SEVERAL appliances that broke down. My computer moniter, my microwave, my refrigerator... all failed on my this year, and it took some work, but I finally managed to get them all replaced! So far, everything is working fine, but next on my agenda is to save up for a new desktop. This one I use for work has been at it since 2017, and it's about time to look into upgrading.
My Google Drive is Looking Nice. It's still not perfect, but I'm still immensely proud of how it's shaping up. There's still some curating of older pieces to do, but I've found a stride where I'm regularly updating it for people to peruse.
=====
Now despite these W's, I still got a long way to go. The things below could be considered resolutions for 2024, but that feels cursed to call them that. They are simply:
Things I Want to GET Done
Adding more YCH Figures. I was definitely expecting to have more to choose from by this point. And I really need to update some of the older ones too, because I think they've aged poorly. I got some neat suggestions and hopefully will find some time this week to showcase them in my discord to collect some feedback before releasing them.
Do more involved pieces/projects. I want to do more things like Comics, or simply pieces that I work on over the course of several sittings, ones where I can experiment and fiddle and practice!!! I rarely ever get to do that these days (I've only finished a few Big Personal Pieces this year), and I need to find time and energy to do them more because those are the things that truly make me feel like I grow as an artist. (and maybe I can find a shading style I actually fucking tolerate.). I also want to get more OC development and stuff done too, cuz I really didn't draw my children a whole lot this year!
Make more fucking Money!!!!! Let's not kid ourselves. I want to get to a point where I'm not just barely meeting the monthly quota. How to get there? I don't know, honestly. Things are so very stacked against artists right now, so it really does feel like the only thing that can be done is Not Give Up. Which I won't do. If/when I go down, I'm making it everyone else's problem. Trust. 😏
Save up to Visit the Boyfriend. I haven't seen him since January 2022! Big goal is to be comfortable enough to where I can fly my ass up there and smooch him. 👏🏽
======
I won't lie, i'm going into 2024 quite anxious and still scraping by by the skin of my teeth (that I'm still paying for). It's going to be a BIG year cuz oh boy, it's election year, there's plenty of family developments i gotta keep an eye on and work to be a part of... not to mention all the horrible stuff going on still (free palestine!).
Here's hoping shit goes our way this coming year! And let's get ,more strikes going so everyone is getting their fucking money!!! :V

I was wondering what the diagnosis process looked like for you in regards to me/cfs? What tests were done? (Only asking because I suspect I may have it, however my general doctor got my blood drawn (even though there are no known tests to diagnose cfs/me), and tests results came back normal. They blamed it on my medications, but I've been experiencing the symptoms way before I took the medications.)
Now I'm having to call and ask them what I'm supposed to do, since I'm struggling.
Have you struggled getting an evaluation?
How did you make others believe and advocate for you?
Not forced to answer at all btw!
hello there. i’m sorry you’ve been struggling and that your healthcare has been lacklustre! this post is going to be long so strap in <3
the diagnosis process varies from doctor to doctor. tbh many doctors are reluctant to consider ME even if it’s a severe case or a very classic case because they generally aren’t taught how to recognise it. it can be helpful to send your doctor links to official resources so they have a framework for helping you. if i were you, I’d look up the official guidelines for suspecting ME/CFS in your country and either send a link to your doctor or print them out. most doctors i meet will admit to my face that they haven’t read the guidelines for ME, so basically they’re not informed on suspecting, diagnosing, or treating it. in the UK where I live, the NICE guidelines explain the steps that should be taken if ME is suspected.
ME/CFS is a diagnosis of exclusion, so basically they do standard tests (like blood tests) first to make sure your symptoms aren’t caused by any other condition. once they’ve ruled out other causes, they see if you meet the ME/CFS criteria they use in your area. (in theory, diagnosis should take 3-6 months, but a lot of docs take a ‘wait and see’ approach instead, which can sometimes last years. personally i don’t think a ‘wait and see’ approach is appropriate, especially if you’re young. you may have to be assertive and ask multiple times to be evaluated. bear in mind it’s the system failing, not you.) the way they decide if you meet the criteria is by discussing your symptom history, which might take a few appointments. the best way to advocate for yourself is to bring another person to back you up (sorry to say this but statistically, it helps if it’s a male family member), to have a list of your symptoms and a timeline written down, and to be clear about the practical ways that your symptoms impact your life. i.e. “it takes me (x amount of time) to recover from going on a short walk. this symptom gets worse (x amount of time) after i do a particular activity and lasts (x days). i can no longer do x activity at all because of my symptoms. I’ve tried x y and z and it hasn’t improved my symptoms. I want to get my quality of life back.”
I don’t remember my diagnosis process very well. i had major symptoms for several years before ME was even considered, i was repeatedly brushed off and told my symptoms were from my autism even though that doesn’t add up. interestingly i was given treatments before I had a diagnosis. then i had a ‘working diagnosis’ of ME in my teens, which is where they think you probably have something but they don’t put it in your file till they’re sure. i’ve had a proper diagnosis on my file for years now, but i don’t know when it got there or who put it there. (??) the diagnosis process can be kinda weird. mine took forever but i know other people who were diagnosed quickly and efficiently, so it’s not impossible.
personally i had a lot of random tests, blood tests to CT scans to x rays, basically any test that was related to my symptoms (like a head MRI for headaches). i do actually have other conditions which show up on tests (like scoliosis), but since scoliosis cannot possibly be causing my specific pattern of exertion-related symptoms, i still got diagnosed with ME. having another condition or having medication side effects does not mean you can’t also have ME! especially if your symptoms started before you took the meds, like you said.
i feel like i’ve rambled enough. i hope this was helpful. if you have any more questions please send another ask and I’ll try my best to answer!

Thinking about knowing Vincent from before he was a killer
In my headcanon timelines, all of the Sinclairs get out of Ambrose for a time vis the state foster system. The twins age out, Bo starts working and Vincent goes to the University of New Orleans for a BA in fine arts.
You run into your first British lit lecture late. There are two spots open, so you decide to forgo the creaking rolley chair and slide in next to some guy you don’t know. You whisper a “hi” as you pull your books out, and he inclines his head towards you in awknowledgement. It’s a loooong lecture, and when your mind begins to wander you start stealing glances at the guy next to you. He’s tall and slim, with shiny dark hair brushing his shoulders. The full face mask catches you off-guard for a moment, but you’ve seen people make stranger fashion statements. Besides, he does seems kind of goth. When the class ends and you give him a quick “see you on Thursday” he turns and looks at you with one piercing blue eye. Good god, you don’t think you’ve ever seen a natural eye that blue. It’s like a clear April sky, in such stark contrast with the rest of him. The interaction only last a few seconds, but you feel like you were pinned down for hours.
You arrive at the next class early and slide into the same seat from before. They’re not assigned of course, but humans are creatures of habbit. Sure enough, mystery man slides in next to you while the professor is still organizing her lecture notes. “Hi.” you whisper again, but this time followed by an introduction. He turns to face you fully, and you’re struck again by that eye. “Vincent. It’s nice to meet you.” Oh god. You panic for a moment as you rack your brain for what you know of sign language, skills that were less than conversational to begin with, covered in several years of rust. You can recall introductions, at least. He must read the panic on your face, or maybe it’s the way you recite his name back to make sure you got it right-”Vincent. That’s pretty.”-because he rips a piece of paper from his notebook and clicks his pen on. Just as the professor starts talking, he slides you a note: ‘Thanks. I got it for my birthday.’ Oh, you realize. So this guy is a dork.
You swing by the library on your way back to your shitty little campus apartment and check out two books on ASL. You want to know what other goofy dad jokes this guy has up his sleeve.
A lot, it turns out. You two begin passing notes during class like you’re 13 again, which leads to hanging around after class to chat. At first it’s just about the readings, peppered with snarky comments and silly puns, but soon you’re talking about everything other than the assignments. He’s funny, you realize, silly and sarcastic-bordering on mean-all at once. You learn that he’s a Fine Arts major, a sculptor, and insanely passionate about his art. He doesn’t talk about his family or childhood a lot, so you talk about yours. The details you do glean are vague: he’s from a very small town (like most people in the South), his mother was a sculptor too, he grew up with siblings, and he spent some time in the foster system. You don’t pry. After all, why bother violating boundaries when there’s so much other stuff to talk about? Art and music and politics and lightheartedly dunking on your peers.Sometimes (often) you have to ask him to slow down or repeat himself or write things out (the books you’re working through don’t cover fancy art terms, especially when you don’t understand what the word means in the first place), but the conversation flows well. It feels natural. You invite him over when to watch Doctor Who reruns, he invites you over to listen to underground gothic heartbreak music. Maybe you develop a tiny bit of a crush on him, it’s whatever.
You find him at the graduation ceremony, just for a moment. He’s got family stuff to do and you understand, your own mother is urging everyone to get to lunch as soon as possible. You give him a loose hug (something you two didn’t begin doing until months into the friendship. He’s reticent with affection, but this feels like an appropriate moment.) and the mailing address of your parents house. You’re still working on lining up an apartment for youself, and you know that if someone sends mail for you after you’re gone, your parents will just give them your new address.
Vincent never writes. You’re more than a little disappointed. You two were friends, right? Pretty good friends, you liked to think. You don’t have any way to reach out to him, but you think about him often. Less so over the years, but still. You hope he’s alright. Hope he’s making his art somewhere.

⭐️ End of year questions ⭐️
Thank you to @mekana47 for tagging me in. I was feeling a little down-in-the-dumps since I haven't written a lot (arbitrary I know, but compared to the last few years), but these questions were nice and turns out I am proud of what I've done.
Tagging in @ongreenergrasses @strangesmallbard @melodious-madrigals @aphroditestummyrolls @lttrsfrmlnrrgby if you want to play and anyone else who has been writing and arting and crafting!
What is your favourite thing you created?
the ties that bind us - my first fic of the year and a fun splash around in magic realism in the world of The English where Cornelian Whipp sees threads of destiny and we follow as she finds love and revenge. There was a lot in the show’s costume design and fashion at the time that I got to read around but it was really sparked by Emily Blunt's delivery on her lines about there being magic.
Which work are you proudest of?
I try to sing a melody (your way) - a Piranesi fic in the voice of the House. I wanted to play with a setting-voice for a long time and the House was the perfect sandbox and I got to walk a few more halls and staircases before reaching the roof to look down on all its infinite kindness
Is there anything you are proud of that you achieved this year?
love, the armour saints wear - this one is a Grishaverse fic. Genya is a fascinating character and this is where I got to put the young Tailor under a microscope and explore her as the asset others view her as. As a treat I also threw in a splash of the ongoing tussle between the verse's most dysfunctional mother and son. Baghra is hilariously fun to write.
Did you explore anything new this year? (A new way to be creative, a trope you didn’t write before, or an idea you hadn’t thought of earlier, etc.)
I committed to submitting an original short story to a lit magazine (which has now shut down). Touch Of The Sun was a coming-of-age sci-fi about a young girl Asha and life living underground on a sun-scorched Earth. It was fun to write for a different purpose, but now I'm not too sure what to do with it. I will be writing more original pieces though.
Which work gave you the most difficulty?
keep me searching for a heart of gold - La'an, oh La'an, you know sometimes you come across a character you share a little facet of personality with, or more than a few? Anyway, this has stalled a little both because of its angst and also because of writer's block, so I guess we're both in this time loop.
What was your biggest creative challenge this year?
Boring, but I've not been well so trying to find some free time to sit down where I have motivation and energy to write has been The Challenge. It's meant I've had to change my habits (easier than I thought) and also try to be kinder to myself about not-writing (harder than it should be).
Which work brought you the most joy?
we can't keep meeting like this - funnily enough, it's a bit of a mirror to I will share your road, the Andy and The Doctor fic I wrote a while back, in that she repeatedly meets another long-lived acquaintance… Death. Bashed this one out fairly quick and I like the way I wrote their recognition-to-friendship. It was also fun plotting out their meeting points across time and a map.
Which of your works do you think people should check out?
Anything you want! The mix of fandoms and genres and concepts continues to grow.
Do you have creative plans for next year? Is there anything exciting you’re currently working on?
I have two upcoming fics in my Genya the Firebird series. One is the multichaptered story and a twist on the Firebird tale, and the second is a tooth rottingly sweet but angsty one shot. I want to write the first draft in full before I post anything which is why it may be some more months.
Lastly, any words of wisdom or anything else you would like to share?
Nothing revelatory but 3 things that have helped me this year…
1) If you're not happy with your writing or fic goals, change them!
2) If you want to write something, write it because your first audience is you!
3) If there's a story type or a trope that you enjoy, remember you're never limited to writing it once!
Happy New Year and hope 2024 brings you much enjoyment for whatever you're working on! 💜💜💜

032. a quiet hospital room . (Ice/Mav)
@cmdrbee | pete + tom
Tumblr media
Tom had taken ill some days before his admission into hospital but he seemed to be improving as each day went by. They had been chatting for the last 45 minutes and counting as Pete did not wish to leave his wingmans side through his sickness. If he had been asked to go home and wait for news, or Tom’s return to some sort of normality, he would have made it known there was really nothing important for him there.
It had been just the two of them, for the last 30+ years and he would be damned if he was going to miss a second of life with the man he cherished. They were very open about their status as one anothers partner these days, but back then they found it pretty difficult to even show affection in public, let alone the idea of indulging in a kiss.
Pete was more than willing to act on those impulses now, however and though he wished he could, right in this very moment, he went for the forehead instead.
Tom had been unwell for the last couple of weeks, but it really had gotten considerably worse over the weekend, which was when Pete suggested a hospital trip just to be on the safe side as he didn’t want to take any chances.
Though he was always known as the biggest risk taker throughout his career, when it came to his relationship with Tom and Bradley, the daredevil in him slipped into the shadows in favour of caution.
They hadn’t been informed yet about what was wrong, so the pair simply waited in Tom’s very own room, which was a nice, albeit unexpected treat at such a busy time of year. Festivities had been few and far between since Tom had been bed bound for the better half of a month but was eating and drinking with no trouble, so they had assumed a really bad case of the flu.
Just as both of them were discussing their plans for the next day, a Doctor finally appeared again, after five hours waiting to hear back about the tests they had insisted on when they first arrived earlier.
There was a look on her face that didn’t need a lot of words and Pete almost found his jaw tightening before she even opened her mouth. Tom seemed to handle things a lot better than him, but that was to be expected, because he’d always been the more together of the two.
Even if it was his own health they were finding out about, Tom sinply smiled and nodded through it all. It was by no means a happy smile, but something polite, to indicate he understood and simultaneously appreciated the information.
Pete found it hard to look up from the ground even when the Doctor finally left the room, allowing them both privacy once more. It wasn’t until Tom cleared his throat after a cough and roughly spoke to him, that he lifted his gaze slowly to meet the others.
' It’s gonna be fine, Pete, ' he says, a smile somehow reaching his eyes as well as he sat on the edge of the uncomfy bed he had been provided for the brief stay.
' How do you know that, Tom? Were you even listening? ' he’s already got tears pooling in his eyes as he answers, shuffling his chair closer before choosing to stand instead.
' I was listening. There’s only two ways this can go, so I figure we better hope for the positive outcome, ' he chuckles, lifting his arms to pull the other male into an embrace.
It seemed that in that moment, it was Pete who needed that extra comfort and reassurance, as opposed to Tom, who had just received the most unpleasant news concerning his health. He was very sure, however, that the right attitude would mend all that was broken and was ever so thankful to find out it was early stages and they now caught it so quickly.
The road ahead was going to be rough for both of them, but it would be a fight they fought together right through to the end, much like the last thirty four years of their lives.
