What's with Balloon Boy and the Daycare Attendant?

The Balloon World arcade machine exists, it's in the DA's room and both characters are involved in it. It's probably one of the most cryptic minigames in the FNAF series as a whole, but while we could ponder what exactly it's supposed to mean (maybe I'll do that for all the security breach minigames eventually), the main question I have is this:

WHY Balloon Boy specifically? Why is the minigame about HIM?

Is there a connection between the two characters? Or was it a completely random decision?

Out of nowhere, thinking about Balloon World, I came to a realization:

The Lights.

Balloon Boy's entire gimmick in FNAF 2 was that if he got into your office, he would disable your flashlight and vent lights (...somehow. I know we all make the jokes about him taking the batteries [and then that FNAF 57: Freddy In Space thing in FNAF World said he just straight-up steals your entire flashlight], but you never see the battery icon disappear or appear empty in FNAF 2 itself when he gets into your office. And the vent lights also stop working, so unless they also operate on batteries, then... does he actually take them from you?).

What's the one rule in the daycare?

Keep the lights on.

His mechanic is the antithesis to what Sun wants and exactly what Moon would want. Balloon Boy doesn't keep the lights on. He prevents you from turning them on at all.

(which also makes me kinda sad there wasn't a Glamrock version of BB. Then again, I don't know how exactly he would've uniquely affected like anything. Regardless I am hoping for the day someone in the fandom makes a glamrock bb who is arch-enemies with sun and gets along well with moon skseijdndndnd-)

It feels kinda obvious and I'm guessing I'm not the only person to think about this, but I have never seen anyone else bring this up. Not on YouTube, not on tumblr, nowhere. Maybe if I go looking for it I'll see, but i'm surprised I haven't bumped into anyone else saying this just naturally. I go into the BB tags a LOT, surely SOMEONE would've said something, right? I don't even see it noted in the trivia on the page for the arcade game on the fnaf wiki.

...but is this supposed to mean anything? Or is it just a cute little reference or callback? it's hard to say, especially with how ambiguous the minigame is.

Though I DID think of ONE thing... (possible minor spoilers for Ruin under the cut):

Saw this pointed out in a youtube video that the BB World screen (with Eclipse, who makes their proper debut in Ruin after effectively being foreshadowed by the minigame in SB's base game) can be seen on the ceiling in the DA's room. Which makes sense, obviously, but also take note of the pirate-themed windows in the hallway leading to it.

...now, which character do most of us tend to associate with Balloon Boy? His "tag-team partner," of sorts?

Foxy. The Pirate.

With this, I found that there's more Foxy-related stuff associated with the daycare area than I had previously realized because I had never made any connections before. I mean, Kids' Cove is directly linked to it for god's sake.

Like. I hope i haven't forgotten to mention anything (I've been writing this post over the course of hours 'Cus I had stuff to do in the middle of it all). My brain's kinda starting to fry. But basically: Was Foxy originally meant to be the Daycare Attendant, in-universe? Was there gonna be a Glamrock Balloon Boy with him, like as his first mate or something??? Were they gonna be connected to Fazbear Theater????? (Uh basically Sun/Moon to my knowledge from confirmation in the books and a lot of more subtle implications in-game mainly involving environmental pieces were originally meant to be in the Fazbear Theater as a stage animatronic but got moved to daycare duty instead and being reprogrammed. Which actually explains a lot about them when you think about it-)

Like. Ok I'm forgetting where I was going with this, I'm sorry, but I guess it's food for thought/adds to the weird connections between DA and BB, I guess. Idk. I can't focus that well right now to keep making new ideas.

felt like sharing my interpretation of the Balloon World minigame itself at least since earlier I did kinda finally get it down concretely:

I kinda developed a theory that Eclipse is Sun/Moon's "safe mode" and that rebooting DA reactivated Eclipse as a result. Like, they're their own AI that was at one point implemented. but then Vanny happened and locked them out thanks to the whole Glitchtrap virus thing (albeit it only seemed to reach Moon, while Sun remains seemingly unaffected. Guessing it's because they're different AIs [finally implied/basically confirmed by their Ruin dialogue). Eclipse has seemingly not been active for some time, or at least never post-pizzaplex closure, given how they're seemingly completely oblivious to the fact that this place is closed with no signs of opening.

So the minigame was foreshadowing Eclipse's existence and implying their "trapped" nature, which also could be seen as paralleling Vanessa's whole "Vanny" situation, especially given how iirc one of the messages related to princess quest can be found near the arcade machine.

modern au emeralds playing stardew valley (I’m playing sv i love this game I’m almost on year two of my new save that I made after 1.6 came out)

[creative liberties are maybe taken. I’ve never played multiplayer (btw if someone wants to play w me hit me up) so I don’t know what’s different. I’m relying on google searches]

They do the community center, obviously. Fuck Morris and Joja Corp.

Dorcas and Pandora were the first ones to find the game like, a year before 1.6. They have a few saves together, but mainly play on the hilltop farm on one that is in sixth year currently. It’s beautifully decorated, mainly by Dorcas. Dorcas first married Leah, and Pandora first Penny (for the decor, she chose strawberry but heavily debated the forest and moon one as well) and Hazel, before finally they got their shit together and confessing irl and immediately marrying each other.

Dorcas loves fishing and it’s always her first skill mastered fully. She always does that part of community center insanely fast. She also knows all the secret fishing spots that give you presents with decorations for the house.

Pandora’s favourite part is maxing out friendship with everyone, she likes doing tasks. She also loves collecting artifacts. She made the mistake of giving up their first prismatic shard to Gunther before they knew about the desert sword thingy. Dorcas likes both farming and animals, Pandora fucking loves the latter.

When 1.6 comes out and multiplayer up to eight people becomes awailable, they nag Evan, Barty, and Regulus to buy the game and start playing. They choose the meadowlands farm, ofc (“No, we’re not getting wilderness, Barty, Pandora wants chickens from day one!”).

Barty is actually the only one of the boys to have any knowledge how to play beforehand. He spent like a week straight watching YouTubers so he has a decent grasp on the basics of the game. He did not get to the Ginger Island part.

Regulus has the wiki open for the entire time. He also buys the book that shows you prices of things the first time bookseller comes (he saw the event on the calendar, checked what it means, and saved some gold up). He finds out on a solo save that he loves cooking, so they update the house as quickly as possible.

Evan’s very much winging it. He gives random gifts to NPCs and refuses to check wiki to see what they like, just relying on their reaction to see which ones he shouldn’t give them. He remembers Pandora rant about a few of them and makes a point of giving Louis, Pierre, and Clint gifts they hate. His sister finds that hilarious. He’s also the one doing the farming; he doesn’t focus on how much money it will give them, but what Regulus needs in the kitchen.

Evan is also insanely good at Journey of the Praire King. “What the fuck how did you beat it second try.” “What, like it’s hard?” (The only hard/annoying part were the hoards of ogres from stage 1, after he beat that, it was easy. He doesn’t even play these types of games often.)

Barty absolutely loves the Mines and Skull Cavern and is in charge of everything fighting-related. He makes sure they always have enough coal.

I don’t see any of them being interested in minmaxxing it. Weirdly enough, maybe Barty, on like one solo save, but it’s not a priority whatsoever. They’re just here to have fun

So, someone has requested - double dog dared me in fact - to show the world of tumblr my post in which I show you my red string cork board which connects all of the deities, entities, literally anything from the general Minecraft fandom. - This uses things from WitchCraft SMP, Evolution SMP, to the Paranormal Order Universe (Despite it not actually being properly in this ‘genre’, but there were some things I could not ignore, so I wanted to put those in - it’s mainly used as themes (plus I think it’s a cool concept)), so do be warned about the variety of things. Plus, sorry if some of this seems strangely paced, I got distracted multiple times throughout writing this.

I firstly want to discuss the types of entities that exist in the world - and what different beings fit under what different categories. Secondly, the varieties of these entities, and finally tying up loose ends + any finishing notes that didn’t fit into the other sections.

Welcome to a hell of a lot of Worldbuilding around all the concepts we have been given.

Firstly, we will be talking about how I classify the different types of abilities/powers. The easiest way to do this is with the use of the Paranormal Order Entities. So; Blood, Death, Energy, Knowledge (and Fear - Although no one can have this as an entity).

The way that I think of these is that these are an amalgamation of all the abilities of every entity that falls under the umbrella, and the worship of these beings. This is dubiously correct? I did some looking into it, I swear. But I’ve been writing for like a while now so I’m forgetting things.

Firstly, in the Wiki, it states that the God of Death takes many different forms and can be in many different places at one. This certainly reflects the narrative of how there’s a Death God in both Hermitcraft - Zedaph (Technically) and in QSMP(Kristen), and in the Philza Hardcore Worlds(Kristen again).

So, this is where I go into the WitchcraftSMP lore. There were multiple different magic types. - Illusionistic, Earth, Death, Time, Nature, Fire, Ice, Storm - Now whilst most of these are nature or element based, and a pretty good basis to look at for what the different types of magic their are in the world, with Gem from Empires having Fire, Dapper from QSMP having Death magic.

However, the gods, as I have stated, I believe are more predominantly based around the other Four powers - at least the more powerful ones.

That was a mess. I didn’t really know how to properly form my thoughts on this bit.

There are quite a lot of different species/beings in the Minecraft youtuber universe, and I will be attempting to file them all under (hopefully) five different things - In order of hierarchy.

Secondly, there are Gods/ God-like entities. This covers gods, demi-gods, Watchers, and anything else I think of while writing this :D. - Examples of this include Philza’s Hardcore Demi-gods (I’m pretty sure they’re demi-gods, I checked.), the Goddess Santa Perla from Empires SMP Season 2, the Goddess Mine from the QSMP, Bdouble0100 the Sun God of Empires Season 2. These are entities that either have full domain over their thing, whatever that is (aka. in that world they are the only being that controls their special ability fully, whatever it is.)

These Entities are not capable of fully dying either, or it being a near-impossible task, depending on how powerful they are and whether they’re a demi or full god. The other thing that can define a being as a god is whether they can create a world on their own or not. For example, the Watchers are able to create the life series on their own - making them god-like beings.

(I would like to say a quick note here about the Listeners. I don’t know that much about them, I swear I looked into them but I forgot almost as soon as I did. So I sort of see them more as a movement of sorts, a conglomeration of ex-watchers - thank you fanon for that influence - and of players that are aware of what the watchers are and wish to help against them. So, an ex-god would not be able to create a stable world, and would make a sort of mess. I saw a couple of people suggest that Real Life was created by the Listeners, and I really liked that idea - it helps paint a line between the powers of a Watcher and a Listener, a God and an Ex-God) - Gosh that was a long side tangent.

The second rank in the hierarchy are angels and demons, which there are actually a surprising amount of. I still don’t know exactly how their power structures work, but I think that it’s safe to assume that if you’re born an angel or a demon you’re more powerful than if you were turned into one. (However if you turned from an angel to a demon then you’d probably have the same amount of power as the og demons. - thanks Bad for that scenario) On servers some examples of this might be - Xornoth from EmpiresSMP Season 1 and Witchcraft SMP (Like a second cameo, but I loved that series.), Tina from QSMP. We don’t actually know much about demons, less so about angels, but I put them here because I wasn’t sure about it. If anyone wants to correct me on any of this btw, please do, that would be very much appreciated, or add on your own bits. This is mainly an ideas dump that I bravely attempted to organise. ANYWAY. The reason I mentioned not really knowing where to put these is because I’m now coming to the realisation that there is overlap with the next category, but I already went over this paragraph many times so screw it.

Third rank is what I call Prophets and Chosen. Now, a Prophet example could be anyone who carries the message of their Being/Entity(s) - Cellbit might count for this due to the way that he helps introduce people to the elements after he made the rooms on QSMP. However, a Chosen is anyone that is gifted powers from an angel, devil, god, demi-god, or watcher. Basically anything higher above this hierarchy. (The confusion here is with Phil. He’s the Angel of Death. Kristen is a god, and he is used as her vessel + is gifted powers by her apparently - but still calls himself an angel. So thank you for ruining my perfectly organised system /j) Now, these are the most common out of all the categories, they get more common as they go down, just like in any typical power structure. For examples, we have - Scott, Empires Season 1, Chosen Warrior of Aeor. Martyn, Limited Life, Vessel of the Watchers. Mike, QSMP, Vessel of Mine - (Yes I keep on using it but I think it’s cute and I already did something a bit ago about Phil and his stuff). Now, if you know these well, it will be immediately obvious that some of these are more parasitical than others. So, when I say Chosen, it doesn’t exactly have to mean that the two people in the link chose each other - just that the higher up one did. (Insert a majority of possession arcs into this box)

The last two I’m going to wrap up into a single one, as they’re pretty simple. Players and Mobs. Players are just any person, although a person can be a mob. Player - Mob hybrids are definitely a thing. This is the mortal box that the higher entities don’t really care about as much.

Granblue Fantasy F/F List

Decided to finally put together a list of most of the F/F content in the game after spending so much of my time on this game. I got into gbf because several of my friends were playing it at the time and recommended it to me so I gave it a shot but found myself a little overwhelmed in the beginning since it was all so massive. I just wanted to make this list in case anyone else felt the same as me back then.

This is not meant to be a comprehensive list because I don’t have everyone nor have I seen every event so I will miss some things. I mainly want to just have this as a small guide to help people get straight into the content either because they’re interested in the characters but don’t want to play the game or aren’t there yet in their progression.

I’ll try to find youtube links to fate episodes and events because the great thing about gbf is that almost everything is voiced save for the R/SR versions but some of these are a little bit older than when the game got a localization so not every fate episode or event has a video link. With that said, all transcripts are also up on the wiki.

Some further background info for those new: In GBF, characters go through character development either through events and/or their fate episodes so later versions of the same character may reference back to a previous point (ex. Silva’s later versions after her Water SSR assume that the events of Water Silva’s 100 uncap/Song’s 100 uncap have happened). Alternately, an older version of a character might have gotten their 5* uncap that continues their development from their latest version (water socie and grand vira...). I’ve tried to put things into what I believe is chronological order but there are some I’m not too sure on. I just wanted to explain this because the development of Vira is all over the place and also weaves some of the MSQ into it because of Katalina.

There’s no particular order to this list other than the first few are the biggest ones that the game likes to tease I should have put megmari should’ve been at the top tbh

Friends who went to the military school of Albion together, Vira grew attached to Katalina to the point of obsession. Vira became Lord Commander of Albion while Katalina left and they don’t meet again until years later.

13. Black Knight/Apollonia and Orchid and Orchis

where do I even start with this After the death of her mother, Apollonia ended up in Mephorash where she and then princess Orchis became friends. A tragic accident happens that causes Orchis’ soul and body to become separated and leads Apollonia to search for a way to bring her back at any means, becoming the Black Knight and working for the Erste Empire. She is given a golem companion that she names Orchid and plans to use her to bring Orchis’ soul back but things aren’t always as simple as they look.

flower is a japanese synth developed by YAMAHA in collaboration with Gynoid co for vocaloid, the later liscenced out to INCS Toenter Co., Ltd. and Techno-Speech for her cevio ai version . her v3 illustration was drawn by Yamako, and her v4 and gynoid talk by △○□×/miwasiba, her character design was done by Rocoru. her v4 design was based off of "shota" fanart of flower drawn by miwasiba i guess ??? (???????), her cevio was illustratited and designed by Oguchi. rocoru and yamako are both part of honeyworks ("a circle consisting mainly of the composers Gom and shito, and the illustrator Yamako, along with many support members"*). her design inspired that of the meika twins.

Rosie, a friend suggested her some twenty years ago for this elite comic book RP guild. She's the only one I kept from that time. I never heard of her before that & when I read her I remember saying 'she's such an angsty little shit. I love her.'. Her background is like casebook 'what happens if you have a poor support system' in a way.

Ryouta (daken/fang canonly), well he's that guilty pleasure villain everyone enjoys reading about for me I suppose. In another way I get curious about nurture vs nature. Which is something intertwined with his chara i think. (it's a dark past) What inspired me to write him, well he had a slow progression away from his villainess nature you could say. And I am a sucker for growth. It was his appearance's in All New Wolverine that made me go 'oh i'm going to write him'.

Somnus somehow turns stabby villains into teddy bears and i thought it was hilarious.

Bobby, well I wanted a silly gay polyamorous muse & I had been itching to write him for awhile but at the same time wanted to write with a Bobby more so held off. Gave in about a year back i think?

Malicia, well she's pretty AU of one of my favourite comic charas growing up. And well I'm a tad nervous writing her main verse so I just did something with a twist for fun.

TJ I've written a few times over the years. Normally when a friend has me going 'Hell yeah!'. One time I believe a friend was making a Blink (the bestie). This time around I started talking to a few friends about her & then got to talking with Armin about her relationship with her dad. A similar thing happened with Billy. I ended up bringing him back after talking with a friend who writes his twin Tommy. As for originally, I sadly do not recall.

Cloud, well as I said i'm a sucker for growth & his story is full of it. I also enjoy picking apart ways people display or write PTSD & show how it can be displayed in society or be a danger creatively. I also have PTSD, which can range on my reactions to things depending on my environment. So in a way it's one of the ways I learn about myself. Though his mental state has more of a twist to it as he has the lifestream & Jenova influences. Which can come across as confusing as it can seem similar to different forms of DID.

I also have a disability involving memory and memory issues brought on from trauma. So it kinda pulled me in more, I normally don't write muses that are popular to write or I lose the want to write them quickly. Which is not the case with Cloud, he's my rule or norm breaker. (might be why I'm not writing Tifa or Zack tho I'll be honest)

ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴꜱ?

^_^; So I have the habit, of writing detailed notes & accumulate data (websites, youtube videos, games/comics what have you). I normally write detailed dossiers but lately they turn into 10+ page essays so I've been slapping on wiki pages. Clouds is mostly how his mental state is, how it works & alters along with a lot of lore on locations and Materia to help myself & it's mostly jumbled quick notes with no flow. yeah i just went 'i'll put this over here for later'.

But I basically bury myself within a segment of lore to work it through my head a few times. Then I try to see if I can make it fit into how I feel I'd like to write the muse. Comics can be a bit tricky because there's no mainline writer or books get canceled, one writer makes what another put in place meaningless.

Both! It depends. For close connections or like someone that might be someone mine knows I can ask peeps questions to get an idea of a same flow or idea going. Other times I'll wing it entirely while some i'll just give a brief info dump and ask if someone down for it. Then there's plotting while the thread is being written just to throw out ideas or okay things. There's also the excitement of eating popcorn just because I'm wondering if it'll turn tortuously cute or like a thriller in the next few goes depending on what's going on. xD

What were your headcanons for Emily?

ok so i feel like i should start out with a quick disclaimer, that being i have not watched the elves online series or the one on netflix. All my knowledge of the franchise comes from the back of the lego set boxes, wiki summaries and from the only elves deep dive i could find on youtube by Negative Legend.

Basically i am not super knowledgeable of the actual canon and all my headcanons come from my gut feelings and also kind of how i played with the legos as a kid.

TLDR these are my headcanons for Emily with absolutely no evidence to back these up:

-i get the sense that she's super outdoorsy, like almost up there with Farran with how much she enjoys being out in nature

-like she really loves camping and looking for cool rocks beside streams or lakes

-she's the type of person to mainly spend a day at the beach collecting shells and getting sunburnt

-her clothes are mostly hand-me-downs from older cousins or even from her parents

-she's got a really wacky sense of humor that not many people actually get

-(she probably knows a lot of obscure memes or finds really odd things funny but when she tries to explain why she's laughing people just give her looks)

-she's a ginger (idk why i always thought this)

-she hordes trinkets in the pockets of her cargo shorts

-she's into photography (especially nature photography) and also specifically using old cameras

-she has a tooth gap

-she had a few pet slugs at one point

-she always wanted to be a part of a friend group but never was until she met the elves

can i rant about how bad 2023 is for me rq?

ok so in the first couple of months of 2023 i was doing great. new year new me amiright. i was chillin on the crk wiki n shit and i wasnt doing very well in school but what can you do the us education system is flawed and nothing can fix it. i made a contest for people to draw strawberry crepe cuz that was the rage and all. once the deadline hit, i was ready to make the prizes.

i hit the biggest fucking roadblock in my life.

i just got hit with the worst burnout and depression i have ever had in my life. it took 11-12 days to write something with 1k words. this depression is still there. it pains me to even attempt to draw or write or anything. whatever, depression like this is very common. eventually, i moved on from the crk wiki and went to comic studio.

oh. comic studio. where do i begin?

to start off, if you dont already know, comic studio is a website to share comics. shocker i know. i met some friends on here from there. some of my moots i met from cs. and yet, it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. there was drama left and right, mainly centering some specific sensitive users that ive blocked on here, there were people sending death threats and threatening to kill themselves every day. and i desperately told them that their lives had value. all of this drama and suicide baiting was absolutely murdering my mental health in cold blood, so when i broke my kindle screen, i had an episode where i nearly killed myself. no one saw. not anyone irl, not anyone online except for a friend who didnt take it seriously. i didnt really draw too much attention to it anyways. btw, all of this was happening while my dad ran off with my now stepmom and was dumb enough to put himself into a mentally abusive relationship. my mom, who i live with, hates those two so much. also my stepmom is queerphobic and has internalized conservativity.

i got tumblr as soon as i got my first phone, near the start of june. i love tumblr with all my heart, but it fucking murders your mental health nearly just as bad as cs. i mean, what do you expect from a website that makes you think that all the problems of the world are your fault? i have met great people here, but it still fucking sucks.

the real nail in the coffin was when a user on comic studio (who i have now blocked on tumblr) made a half baked shitty "callout post" on me. i will say, i did do something wrong that i apologized for afterwards, but everything else was past drama that they brought up even though i had already apologized for all of it. i apologized, and decided that i should leave comic studio. and so i did. keep in mind that all of this has been happening while my main family (which means excluding my dad and step mom) lives paycheck to paycheck.

now flash forward to the present. im on my phone for 14 hours a day on average laying on the couch scrolling through tumblr and watching youtube and playing roblox wishing i was dead. i have no one to blame for this behavior but myself. i would hope that the rest of 2023 is ok, but i already know i will have a horrible rest of the year. yeah this was a rly big rant. ily guys and i hope your 2023 was better than mine.

Okay, first of all, I want to clarify I'm reading about DnD, but I am nowhere an expert, just that the classes and subclasses are templates and you can dictate how their magic works in their own special way. That's what I gathered from watching videos of ABD illustrates where he gives examples like how one of his character's eldritch blast is tentacles because the Patron it's a squid.

Second, I would like permission to give more ideas for Hiccup, Jack, and Rapunzel classes, mainly due to finding subclasses that could suit them better. Merida as a Fighter suits her better than a ranger and there's a subclass that it's actually a Magical archer (Arcane Archer) which can be justified by her connection to the wisps and that witch she asked for help once.

And now into the actual reason for this message. North: So the Berserker it's a good pick, better than Artificer, which I think would go for all the Santas, but it's probably more for the Yetis who do the work. Subclass should be Path of the Ancestral Guardian

Bunny: If he goes as a Monk, he should be a Way of The Kensei monk, because his moves are complemented by his boomerangs, and the others do not use weapons normally.

Sandy: Ranger. Now hear me out, there's a subclass called Fey Wanderer, and while Sandy doesn't deal with fey, but the kit can be reinterpreted to work for him. He does look like a small elf after all, and he can be very mischievous. Not only that, the summon fey can be translated to him using his sand to summon whatever his imagination desire, just as the kids formed dinosaurs with the sand. There's also Duir of the circle of dreams, but that's more like summoning weather spirits to help than actually about dreams. In that case, Circle of Stars/Sheperd/Primeval would work better for him as they include summoning Constellations/animals/dinosaurs to help him.

Tooth: Now I also struggle, but I don't think Cleric works with her because most of them are just straight-up magic and she is more of a physical fighter with a connection to memories. So I thought Bard with the College of Lore (for the memories) or College of Swords because the one in the books uses two swords to fight, instead of singing, she inspires by dancing. Another alternative is Ranger with the subclass Swarmkeeper. The swarms are her hummingbirds/fairies.

I know you said Warlock for Sandy, but I would argue that all of them received the blessing of Many, so all of them could part Warlock, but if you had to choose a subclass for warlock, it should be the Great Old one, because he is supposedly older than all of the minus book Bunny, who would be an artificer instead. Celestial sounds more like Angels and all of that.

So there were a lot of details I missed after rewatching Tales of the Foundation. But they still fit perfectly with my suspicion on how the scp foundation interacts with ordinary people or would civilian populations be more accurate?

Now I could be completely wrong about things which is fine. Those can stay fanfics. Kinda doubt we are going to get any new content but I can still have my fun speculating. It's going to be two years soon of no new animations and the original YouTube channel has said they are working on a different project.

Okay let's start with Agent Lawrence. Now I know electrician is more than dealing with electrical equipment in the scp universe because of the wiki explaining the foundation has a more supernatural power source. But the way Lawrence mentioned used to being an electrician seems more of an ordinary electrician job. Like when he got the power back on it during scp 106 wasn't based on use of supernatural elements. So the idea of this guy just getting dragged into the foundation after witnessing stuff that definitely doesn't belong in normal electrical equipment is my favorite theory. The MFT career might have been due to his reaction to a supernatural threat that usually most people would have died from.

I completely forgot that Dr. Collingwood had outright said she had a PHD in Experimental Research of Cryptids. Sorry about that. So she probably either took a chance on a shady college that later led her to the scp foundation or most likely is part of the population in the scp foundation universe that has prior knowledge. Still cool and I wonder if that has lead to to misunderstanding in the past with other coworkers. It also could explain the different reactions between the meeting photo between Dr Collingwood and Dr Buck. Personally after rewatching I think she probably knew stuff that families who outright have a culture from working mainly with people in the scp foundation itself.

Now about Dr Buck, odds are most likely prior knowledge since her father worked in the foundation. But I have a pet theory with the idea that she may not have outright know about what the foundation was at first. This secrecy with her father having a job that is not on any known legitimate agency could have contributed significantly to family difficulties. Since the politics even in a scp universe would have their own political scares with governments both knowing and not knowing everything with this organization that might as well be its own country/government that operates by hiding itself from the general public. This lack of transparency between her parents could have contributed significantly to the arguments that was depicted in a flashback. Her mother would definitely would want explanations especially since there could be psychological tolls that working with a secretive job that cant be declassified and/or actual unexplained close calls that could have been dangerous to her and her family thanks to the father's secretive job. Their constant fighting could have led to Dr Buck trying to be more independent of her parents with her own goals earlier on. One of the things the scp 3887 preyed upon was Dr Buck's childhood fears and her fear of being insignificant. Regardless of if Dr Buck knew of the foundation, she could have been a workaholic that focused a lot on achieving goals but neglects socializing outside of work. I still like the idea that Dr. Buck had veterinarian experience and later a marine biology degree that got her either acquired by the foundation or was simply a job that looked good on paper that turned out to be the same company her father could never give answers for. Especially since anomalies can be come in a lot of varieties. I still think that some sort of undersea anomaly is what led to her initial hiring. She later got answers to lot of questions later on about her family's secret job.

Agent Carson I'm speculating was raised knowing and wanting to be part of the Mobile Task Force in the past. Much like how some kids want to be soldiers. His disillusionment when talking to Agent Ramsey about being disposable as the D class makes me wonder if he puts a lot of faith in his gear more than other people. As for why Carson doesn't have a former civilian vibe, he does complain and compare things within conversations. He seems like the type of guy to accidently over share some of his past.

D-Tier Poptropica Islands (Nostalgia Ranking)

I have to make the same disclaimer as before- this ranking is based purely on nostalgia- no critical thinking involved! I have reserved the D tier for islands that I remember actively disliking, though not hating as much as the F tier islands.

Skullduggery Island

Skullduggery is at the top of the D tier for me, and once again it is less due to the island itself and more my inability to beat it as a child. I ragequit this one multiple times and eventually just followed a walkthrough that literally said exactly where to sail and what to trade to beat the island. The only reason this was not F-tier was that I genuinely loved the pirate aesthetic, so I spent a lot of time just sailing around, not too worried about the main quest (which is probably another reason it took me so long to beat it). I remember there being a trading system that I did not understand at all when I first played this game, so I hope that the replay will be a lot more fun for me and I have high hopes that Skullduggery can really climb the tier list after my replay.

Poptropica trying to teach me economics when I was 9:

Vampire’s Curse Island

Vampire's Curse is in D because the only thing I remember about this island is that the first time I played it, I got to one of the final scenes- the one where you use the potion to heal the vampire- and it just didn’t work. I had to replay the entire island and when I finally reached that last scene it happened again. The third time was the charm and I was able to beat the island but let me just say that 10-year-old me had never experienced such frustration in my life, and I genuinely cannot remember anything about this island other than that final scene which is scarred into my mind. It’s not in F tier because I do remember that I thought the castle was super cool and while I was frustrated at the glitches, I still liked watching other people play walkthroughs of the island.

How Vampire's Curse had me feeling after 3 hours and 2 restarts:

Arabian Nights Island

I’m noticing a theme here-- if I remember correctly, this island also has some sort of trading (or was it crafting?) system. Not much to say as I really do not remember much from this one except that it was another island that required much much more walkthrough assistance than the others. Also, I could have sworn this was an episodic release like Survival and Mission Atlantis but I stand corrected by Poptropica Wiki.

Poptropolis Games Island

This is another island that I hated because I was so bad at it. In Jake Miller’s Youtube video that inspired my tier list, he mentioned that the controls were pretty bad, so maybe there’s a chance that my hating this island was less the fault of my tiny child hands and poor coordination and more due to poor game design. Only my attempt to replay it will tell!

Mission Atlantis Island

Mission Atlantis is the last island in D tier- though to be clear I only ever played the first episode. I can’t really remember much except that I felt like it wasn’t very fun and I was disappointed when I finished the island and had not encountered any merpeople.

After finishing this D tier, I am most excited to revisit Skullduggery, since I feel like I would have loved it if I understood it at all. Once again, this is all based on nostalgia and this tier is pretty evident that I mainly hated the islands I was too stupid to figure out. Hopefully, 10 years later, I'm at least a little bit more intelligent (though it's doubtful). Love as The Catalyst, a Dragon Ball Z post:

Hello!

Welcome to part one in a series of many long-winded informal posts I’m slated to make revolving around my series rewatch of Dragon Ball Z. I don’t know what made me want to sit down in 2021 and re-evaluate my relationship with the series as I’ve known it across 2 decades, but we ended up here. 291 episodes of torture and all. As a matter of purity for my re-evaluation, I decided to go with one of the dubs I spent watching as a child. I used Funimation’s 2007 digitally remastered dub of Dragon Ball Z, since it’s so difficult to get a hold of the version that was syndicated on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block from 1999-2004 without hunting down a bunch of VCR tapes and singles. Generally, the remastered dub does contain a lot of the untouched Funimation voice acting in certain seasons over others. Take Season One, for example. You can visit this wiki page for what got changed and what remained untouched between the two dubs.

If you see this and think of the dreaded orange bricks, you are correct! I used those babies. That being said, I am treating this dub as its own contained product, I will NOT be comparing it to the original because there’s nothing I can say that like. 15 Youtubers and faithful scholars of the text already haven’t. “The dub” as it is colloquially known, is a Western recontextualization of a fundamentally Eastern product and it suffers for that when we take into account its merits as an adaptation. I KNOW. So I didn’t even try. Instead I point you toward the wealth of intelligently reasoned critiques on that subject. Just hit up the youtube search.

Instead, I went about my watch observing the dub in a vacuum of its own merits- mainly the scripting and themes. Every post in this vein will be analyzing through that lens specifically. I watched with the Falcouner score to preserve maximum integrity toward tone and documented a lot of shit as I went along my experience.

Be warned: Opinions will be shared. You don’t have to take them as gospel, you don’t have to take them at all really! So don’t take it personally, this is my exercise in picking apart the experience. Bringing back YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary. So… Read at your own risk.

Here’s my thesis:

Love is Funimation Dragon Ball Z’s call to action. Bear with me here, it seems like an obvious cliche, but it’s one of those threads woven through every major story arc. It’s by far one of the more consistent themes expressed in its scripting of the characters and their priorities. There are lots of different definitions of love, typically we think of romantic, familial, and platonic love as our qualifiers. Maybe you’re an 8 types of love categorizer. At different points you see how central at least one of those definitions is to moving the emotional plot line along, there’s an intensity built into the displays of unbridled emotion that get the audience into a power-up scene.

Every single one of those scenes is steeped in the things that the characters value. Their relationships and their reason for fighting. These reasons are born from the connections they have with their loved ones, or the things that they love and hold sacred in their lives. Below are some key examples from each arc.

Saiyan saga.

Starting with an example exclusively from the Filler: we have Gohan and C-6 in episode 9. Gohan makes friends with an abandoned robot buried in the ruins of a cavern and through his kindness, gives him a friend: The first in 80 years. This newfound affection and maybe even love (categorized as “philia” under the 8 Greek definitions I mentioned) for Gohan is what makes C-6 sacrifice himself to get Gohan out of the cavern when it starts to crumble around them.

Most important for his character going forward: Piccolo came to love Gohan, he admits that what started as a quest for revenge turned into something different and his love for Gohan made him sacrifice his life to keep him from dying. Gohan’s kindness and care for him introduced Piccolo to the concept of more than hatred. He developed a concept of love from their interactions and it made him a better person. This gave him the necessary context to GROW.

Gohan’s love for Goku awakened his power at the very beginning of the saga and stopped him from wreaking more havoc in his ape form than he already had.

Frieza/Namek saga:

Guru’s love for every Namekian child he bore killed him, the strain of them all dying was the direct cause of his death. He couldn’t have been brought back by Porunga otherwise- Qualified under a death of “natural causes.”

Porunga means “Dragon of Love.” in the Namekian language. Porunga, the original wish granting dragon, whose existence is the very reason that the Dragon Balls can bring back the loved ones of the characters in this series.

Goku’s love for Krillin and the anger that sprang from losing his friend gave him the power to become a Super Saiyan. Krillin, with Bulma, is one of Goku’s very best friends.

Android/Cell Saga

It was Future Gohan’s love for Trunks that made him knock the kid out to fight the Androids alone. Trunks’ love for Gohan not only triggered his transformation, but it made him determined to travel to the past with the chance of preventing his future.

Chi-Chi very clearly loves Goku, the scene they share after he wakes up from his coma is a good example of what she understands to be true about him and his nature. She encourages him to fight Cell and give it all he’s got. This is a marked difference from her begrudging acceptance and downright disapproval (for her own really good reasons). She knows what kind of person he is and steps out of the way to give him the space he needs to prepare for that trial.

Before Cell kills Android 16, 16 pleads with Gohan: “Let it go. It is not a sin to fight for the right cause. There are those who words alone will not reach, Cell is such a being. I know how you feel, Gohan. You are gentle, you do not like to hurt. I know because I too have learned this feelings. But it is because you cherish life that you must protect it. Please, drop your restraints. Protect the life I loved.”

Gohan’s love for peace- the anger that accompanied having something as sacred as life ripped from a kindred spirit broke the barrier between his fear of losing control and his power.

Android 16’s love for living in general, he is another character born to kill. And yet he, a machine, finds something to love in nature. Gentle with birds, at peace.

Contentious as Goku’s choice is at the end of the arc, its intentions are pure- he removes himself from the lives of his loved ones because he believes HE is drawing the danger toward them. It’s a decision that stems from a selfless love for his friends and family.

Buu Saga.

Gohan’s love for Videl- whether you want to categorize it as friendship and loyalty or a budding romance by this point- it’s responsible for the dangerous move that makes him go full-power, leading to Yamu’s theft of his energy to take back to Babadi. I’m calling it love specifically because of the intensity its treated with in the narrative.

Daikaioh’s love for life and Shin was a redeeming force for the pure evil Buu.

Majin Buu’s love for Hercule and Bee the dog was what turned him good and made him separate from the evil half. Had he not learned to love them, the rest of the arc wouldn’t have taken place.

Piccolo sympathizes with the sacrifice Vegeta makes because he knows what it’s like to walk through that door himself, “Gohan’s love changed me.”

Vegeta’s getting his own category not only because I write him, but because of how strange his relationship with love is, and how it continues to come up

The famous “Trunks, Bulma, I do this for you.” line before he blew himself up to try and take out Majin Buu. How he, in this new form after claiming that they meant nothing to him, holds his child and tells him he’s proud. Knocks him out and sends him safely back with Piccolo. This is a very clear change from the android saga, where he didn’t give a fuck about whether Bulma and Trunks died when 20 shot them out of the sky.

Goku lays Vegeta out when he refuses to entertain fusion: “Look. You’ve always talked about our Saiyan race. How we’re the last of a mighty people. Well it’s time we accept we’re starting a new race! One that’d be just as strong! Just as proud! But not if we’re caught up in so much of our old “birthrights” to see what we have right in front of us! We’ve lost our old race Vegeta! Let’s not lose THIS one too!” It’s THIS that makes him get his fucking act together, along with the revelation that Bulma has been killed.

Vegeta BEGS the people of Earth to give their energy- what’s very important to this appeal is that it’s to their pathos. He uses ‘children’ in the plea, knowing that he’s just lost his own. Genuine empathy, born of what I struggle to categorize as anything OTHER than the love he has for his family- however complicated it may be. Put himself on the chopping block, pride be fucking damned just to have a chance at keeping him safe in the Otherworld (because Buu can go there too). This man is anti-sentiment and vulnerability, but you can hear him earnestly beseeching- and that’s part of his love for his family forced to come out. The kind of desperation he has isn’t for his own sake- he’s someone who doesn’t treat his life with any sort of sacredness.

Finally, on the subject of love: Majin Buu’s love for Mr. Satan is actually what saved the entire fucking planet! Had Kid Buu not spit him out because of the burden that is his hesitation to kill Satan, there wouldn’t have been a way to stall for time while Goku gathered energy for the Spirit Bomb. Majin Buu held Kid Buu off with Vegeta, they needed that help.

Among some fan favorite scenes out of this dub are:

Goku going Super Saiyan for the first time;

Future Trunks finding Gohan’s body and transforming, and;

Gohan’s snap into Super Saiyan 2.

Many fans latch onto the anger, and for good reasons! It goes toward the dramatic weight of the scenes, but here’s the thing:

That anger does not have any meaningful purpose in a setting like this if NOT connected to a more meaningful emotion. It’s raw because it’s more than just how you feel in the moment. It’s knowing that somebody else spurns the things you value and mocks them, mocks the memory of the person who made you better and stronger than you ever could have been. You, or rather, the characters in Dragon Ball Z- They do not exist in a vacuum. The Dragon Ball franchise, for all its hang ups, can’t get from point A to B without that.

Back in 2012, I watched “The Singing, Ringing Tree” on dvd, after seeing a picture of it on tumblr. I saved 15 14 images from the movie, mostly for costume reference. Thank you, @pandaskywalker, for expressing interest in seeing them.

This will be a long post, so all the images and text are under the cut.

The Singing, Ringing Tree is a 1957 fairytale movie, filmed in East Germany. My interest was caught when I saw a screencap of a girl with green hair next to a giant fish, which seemed to be stranded in the desert. After tracking down the title and a wait with my Netflix disc queue, I finally got to see the film.

It features many elements seen in various fairytales: a prince turned into a bear, a spoiled princess who must learn what true beauty is, the promise of giving someone "whoever greets [the character] first" when arriving home, and lessons and trials in groups of three. While the princess is a lovely 1950s blond, I preferred the green hair.

I've done my best to keep the screencaps in chronological order with the story, but the images I saved are mainly for costuming reference and give little information about the story.

#1 - princess pouting in bed

After rejecting the prince's offer of the singing, ringing tree, and then sending her father after the prince once she changed her mind, she finally got her singing, ringing tree... but it would not make a sound for her. The tree would only sing and ring if the princess truly loved the prince.

The little pigtails with such a sour pout are amusing. The blue dress in the background is the one she wears for most of the tale, and it's my favorite of the few costumes she has.

#2 - entering the garden

Perhaps the tree would sing and ring if it were in sunlight? The princess and her nurse went out to the garden, even though they were worried the bear would take her away. After all, the king had promised his daughter to the bear (unknowingly) so he could bring the singing, ringing tree back to the princess.

It was really hard getting a good full-view of the dress before it started falling apart.

#3 - first by the pond

The spoiled princess insisted the singing, ringing tree be put in the middle of the garden, in the fish pond. "Put it in there? But what about all the fish?" the nurse asked. The princess said she grew tired of the fish, that the pond should be drained.

Here you can see a bit of the details of the blue gown's sleeves and all the gold drop-beads that hang from the shoulder piece.

#4 - emptying the fish

After the water had drained from the pond, the nurse gathered the dying fish in her skirts. The nurse added lots of soil into the empty pond, so the tree could be planted.

#5 - shaking the tree

Even though the tree was planted in the "best place" in the garden, it still would not sing or ring for the princess. The princess grew angry and threatened to burn the tree if it did not sing or ring.

This view shows how there are two layers to the lower part of her sleeve, one blue and one white.

#6 - scared away the big fish

After the bear had kidnapped the princess and taken her back to the magical kingdom, the princess had a tough time adjusting to her new home. As she approached the bear greeting the giant fish at the pond, the fish swam away, afraid of the princess. She asked the bear, "Where is my silver bath? I demand my silver bath!" The bear replied that the water here was clean and clear, but the stubborn princess was too spoiled. "You expect me to bathe there? I'm a princess!"

#7 - horse with antlers

As she approached the bear gathering moss, she scared away this magical deer. (I think it's supposed to be a deer, but it's clearly a horse with fake antlers.) The princess said to the bear, "Where is my feather bed? I am tired." The bear said the moss was soft enough to sleep on. "You expect me to sleep on moss? I'm a princess!"

This horse-deer thing is hilarious to me. But hey, it's a 1957 movie filmed on a sound stage. They had cool effects and beautiful sets, so maybe they spent all the budget before they made the "deer".

#8 - princess turns ugly

The princess ordered the nearby birds to fly down to her. When they flew away, she accused the bear of telling all the creatures of the land to stay away from her. The bear said that the creatures do not see her beauty like humans do. They see her based on what's in her heart and how she treats others. The bear described the ugly features they saw on her, to which the princess replied, "I want to stay just the way I am." The evil dwarf who ruled the land (and had changed the prince into the bear) used his magic to make the princess's outer beauty reflect her inner beauty.

Yep, I love that hair color and style. The turned-up nose was rather cute, too.

#9 - princess kissing a bird

After helping the bear to build their shelter, the princess went to gather berries. The evil dwarf blew a strong wind over the land, which knocked a bird from its tree perch. The princess gathered the bird and took it back to the bear; together, they bandaged the bird's wing. When the bear explained that treating others nicely would attract more of the birds, the princess realized the birds had stayed away earlier because of how she mistreated the birds in her kingdom.

Right after this image, her nose changed back to "normal" to show that the princess's heart was changing.

#10 - princess comforting the frozen fish

While washing her hands in the water, the giant fish appeared swam close to the princess. The evil dwarf froze the water, trapping the fish, but the princess was able to free it by breaking the ice with her shoe. She realized why the fish ran away earlier: because she had mistreated the fish in her garden.

You can see how her dress changes along with how the character develops. The skirt is shorter, the large collar is gone, the hanging parts of the sleeves are gone. With this scene, she abandons her golden shoes. Right after this image, she regains the color in her face.

#11 - princess with frozen fish, after change

When the fish was free and the princess had changed, the bear came over to see what was happening. The princess explained with joy how she helped the fish.

Again, you can see the dress has changed along with the character (rosy lips now). Personally, I like the dress like this. And though I liked the original "ugly" version of the princess, her rosy lips go nicely with her green hair.

#12 - princess with deer-horse, before snow

Here, the princess gathers moss while the deer-horse-thing approaches from behind.

#13 - princess with deer-horse, in snow

The evil dwarf started a snow storm, which trapped the deer-horse in the valley of moss. The princess dove into the deep snow to try to free it, but could not on her own.

Those antlers are badly placed, but I have a feeling the horse might've shaken them out of place a bit.

#14 - princess with deer-horse, in snow before change

The princess went to get the help of the bear, who scooped the deep snow away from the trapped deer-horse. The princess realized that the creature was afraid of her earlier, because she had mistreated so many people and creatures in the kingdom.

Just after this image, the girl's hair returned to her "normal" golden curls. So long, lovely green hair.

Very happy to share these with tumblr, now that I’m removing most of my archive from flickr. This was a fun movie, though a little silly with the costuming/props. Did I mention how much I love her green hair? Came for the weird fish, stayed for the green hair.

i'm so sorry. im procrastinating so hard and i just latched onto this.

ok so i think the mission is going to be to save marina. she's either been brainwashed or unleashed something (probably coral or black ink-- more on that later) and got seperated from eight and pearl. eight and pearl are probably going to be the ones to save her (with maybe an appearance by marie cause of that one screenshot with maybe her leg). they're probably going to have to stop a ancient creature (dinosaur?) as the final boss.

so as far as marina being semi absent (def not completely cause i doubt nintendo is that stupid) is because when you pause the trailer at the right time, there is a colorful shot where marina is looking out to the distance surprised. the first thing to notice here is that the picture is like, full of color, something you don't see in many other trailer shots, which shows that she's not in the same place as eight (or the possible new agent) is. also, she's surprised. i think this is either hinting at a possible brainwashing (it would be expected with the amount of times its happened, but likely enough) or she did an oopsie and unleashed the final boss. i think it's more likely she accidently unlocked something because as i mentioned with what the boss will probably be, it seems ancient. something ancient probably isn't going to brainwash her because the two times we've seen brainwashing in this series are with technology. something that may be before splatoon modern era tech likely wouldn't brainwash her. or, nintendo could break these ideas and just go with it, because they can do what they want. just a thought about why they probably wouldn't. finally, as far as the marina picture, there's a weird kind of... barcode? watermark? thing on the bottom. it's kind of glitchy and distorted, which makes me think it's going to be a brainwashing thing, but also it makes sense for her unleashing something.

as for pearl being the mentor character in the story, the picture of her has the perspective of looking up. and, no offence to pearl, but for her to be literally looking down on someone, they probably have to be laying down. i'm assuming this person is eight because the background looks exactly like the place that the trailer mainly shows. marie might be another mentor character because of the one shot with her leg in the elevator, but still, i think pearl will be the main one.

and as far as the villian, i think it'll be some kind of ancient/dino/coral villian. as far as the coral goes, it's pretty obvious if you've seen any theory videos on this trailer-- the entire place has a bleached coral vibe. the trees in the square look like dead coral, there's a brain (representing brain coral), and the entire place is bleached white. as far as the ancient part, my friend actually found this. if you go frame by frame on youtube (pressing the < or > keys on a computer; i didn't know this before he told me lmao) you can see a skeleton/bone creature. and we were looking for matches, and we found one!! literally, a wiki page!! for a creature (probably, i'm not an expert) alive when dinosaurs were!! so either it is a dinosaur, or has the themes and ancientness of one. because this was a more aquatic animal, it fits with the splatoon themes. also, this creature had a very evil vibe (if you've played fire emblem 3h, think sylvain's crest spear (cant remember the name rn) cause that was the first thought i had when i saw this thing). and, because it seemed so ancient (and has a literal glowing red eye where there should be a socket-- no totk trailer vibes here lmao) i think it's not something that was created by anyone or just another villian like mr grizz-- but something marina unlocks.
