Hey DSD!
Nonny here, do have a list of any writers you would recommend and maybe even one or two of their fics?
Would love some more reading material and thank you so much if you do end up sharing with me.
Hi Nonny! Absolutely, I do! There are a ton of amazing writers, both here and on AO3, especially for Star Trek since it's such a long-standing fandom. I will absolutely list some of my favorites, but please do not be afraid to explore the tags both on AO3 and here on tumblr, because there are a ton of amazing writers that I haven't encountered yet, and I'm probably leaving some out unintentionally. (I'm so sorry! My memory is like that of a gnat at times!)
Also, on my pinned welcome post under the "Keep Reading" there's a link you can click that will (hopefully) take you to all the posts I've tagged on here as fic recs! So feel free to take a look at that too!
I highly recommend any/all stories by the following authors, and beneath their names I'll list 2-3 of my favorite stories from each:
@creature-of-the-stars - on AO3 here as ToeBeansMcGee
"Weeds Among Stones" <- this is ongoing and brilliant and amazing and i love it 🥰
"Oh, Don't Mind Us" <- this is a oneshot sequel to another favorite called "Be Still" which is a multi-chapter that I adore 🫶

Are They a Stoner? DS9 Edition:
Captain Sisko: Being raised in the south means he has most definitely lit up, and I refuse to believe otherwise. However, after his father caught him smoking and he got stuck on clam duty for a month, he learned his lesson.
Jadzia Dax: Let’s be so real, if she played Tongo with a bunch of Ferengi why would she not own a Betazed bong??? She definitely begged Worf to try it but after his experience with Deanna he only fucks with Blood Wine.
Kira Nerys: OH 100% she was a stoner during the occupation. How would you even attempt to relax in that situation WITHOUT weed? Once the occupation ended Kira stopped messing with weed, but Kira would often hangout with Jadzia, who no doubt brought something to share with Nerys on multiple occasions.
Worf: Blood wine and prune juice.
Dr. Bashir: Before knowledge of him being an augment was made public he never touched anything that could potentially make him not in full control of himself (he did drink a little though). After the knowledge was made public Dr. Bashir and O’Brien definitely were lighting up in the holosuites. That’s why they don’t remember the Alamo.
Erzi Dax: She was straight edge through and through before she was joined with Dax. However afterward…Let’s just say Dax would never turn down an edible.
Odo:
Elim Garak: After the wire was removed Garak decided to stay relatively sober. However, for harm reduction reasons, and to help him cope with his headaches Dr. Bashir prescribed him some medical gummies. He eventually waned off of them completely once Erzi started helping him (he still some times smokes and sews which is why sometimes your trousers don’t always fit right).
Miles O’ Brien: He swore off the “devils lettuce” when he first came aboard the Enterprise. But once stationed at DS9 he quickly realized he would need some of Keiko’s supply of Cannabis-infused tea to remain sane.
Quark: Being a bar owner (best bar on the promenade btw) he is not a big supporter of weed because his main source of profit is alcohol. However, Nog explained to him what a cart is and how you can make a profit from selling them to hoo-mans so he is looking into that as a possible new business opportunity.
Rom: You can’t be a leftist and not have at least tried weed. Also an engineer, so yeah.
Leeta: Oh 10000%. In fact, she’s the plug for the other dabo girls. She even bags her “merchandise” in handmade baggies she makes from recycled textile/fabrics from Garak’s (he owes her because she gave him boy advice).
Nog: No. He follows the rules of StarFleet academy to a T.
Jake Sisko: Hes going to school for writing so yeah. Definitely an edibles kinda guy. His dad has yet to find out despite how many times Jake has come home and slammed an entire pot of jambalaya in 10 minutes.
Keiko O’Brien: Who do you think on DS9 is growing it in the first place?
Gul Dukat: No, he is a snitch who hates fun.
Weyoun: Yes, he is a snitch who loves fun.
Kai Winn: She gives me cop vibes more than Odo does so I’m saying she is a snitch who also hates fun. She also unironically calls weed the Pah-Wraiths Herb or something like that.
Kasidy Yates: Yes, but stopped after jail.
Ziyal: Art school attendee/ art school drop-out. You tell me.
Damar: He’s only a fiend for Kanar (someone help that dude).

UGH I love the Jem'hadar....
S4E23 "To The Death" is so fucking good. We really get to know their culture, how they think what they believe. We get to see some of them interacting with humans and klingons, as well as their interactions with the Vorta.
Also, First Omet'iklan shoots Weyoun, and it's always funny to watch Weyoun die.
What I really love is we get to see some of them developing respect for non-Jem'hadar. I love when Dax is speaking to one on the bridge, and they have a sweet but simultaneously profoundly sad conversation about age, what the Jem'hadar do with their days, and how they are born. The Jem'hadar she speaks to is proud to say he is eight, and is adorably surprised when Jadzia replies she's over 300.
They don't need to eat or drink or sleep. All they do, all they want to do, is train, and fight.
A 20 year old Jem'hadar is a revered elder. It's not because they can't live longer - as far as the show depicts, there's no real reason they couldn't. They just all die in battle, or they're killed by one another.
First Omet'iklan, murders his own Second after the Second gets in a fight with Worf. Afterwards, he says to Sisko he deeply valued his Second, and that they'd fought together for three years. For a Jem'hadar, that could very well be half his life up till now.
Sisko: "A dead man cannot learn from his mistakes". Omet'iklan: "A solider who cannot follow orders is a danger to his unit".
Jem'hadar are born in birthing chambers, and they don't have "females". I'm a big ol tranny so I prefer to imagine that to mean they don't have genders whatsoever. We know the Dominion clones them. I imagine the human concept of gender would confuse them.
I like to headcanon that individual Jem'hadar actually use it/its pronouns. That wasn't really a thing in the 90's, but it really fits with their worldview and how they think of themselves.
Pretend dialogue:
"Are you a man, or a woman?" "I am a Jem'hadar soldier." "What's in your pants?" "Several knives."
And now I absolutely need trans Jem'hadar. In my imaginary AU, some of the Jem'hadar who decide to leave the Dominion are actually successful and don't all die. Imagine a Jem'hadar learning about genders and deciding it wants one!
Also, I'm a sucker for loyalty, and for breaking that loyalty. But I'm also a sucker for characters who, within a framework of loyalty that is supposed to be absolute, decide to bend how that loyalty works, and to whom they are loyal.
Like Omet'iklan. Sure, he's loyal to the Vorta and to Weyoun, but only because that's how things are structured in the Dominion. If your god tells you "be obedient to the Vorta, and through them, you will show obedience to me" then you do it. We see it in the episode "Rocks and Shoals", where a different First decides that loyalty to Weyoun is the truest form of honor, even though he knows Weyoun is sending him to his death against Sisko. Meanwhile, in "To The Death", First Omet'iklan feels that Weyoun deserves to die for daring to question his loyalty.
And it's those little things that get to me so much about the Jem'hadar!!! They are not single-minded!! Every single Jem'hadar is an individual being, with his own thoughts and feelings!
We see so many examples of them breaking away completely, and sometimes just questioning their place in the universe - "Hippocratic oath", "Rocks And Shoals", "To The Death".
Star Trek in the 90's always did this...
"Here is this monstrous looking species, they are the bad guys!"
but then a new writer gets a hold on them and says "actually, these monsters? they're nuanced. look, see under the covers!"
And with the Jem'hadar we really get that all in one series, but we never get the payoff of them finally breaking away from the Dominion.

7, 9, 13, 17, 23 for violence asks
Woohoo, here we go! (Choose violence ask game here)
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
I answered here about Kelas Parmak, who barely exists in canon, yet an active fandom has appeared for him. I thought about saying Ziyal, but really canon is the foundation of my antipathy towards her, and my issue with fandom is that sometimes I feel like everyone else watched a different tv show than I did in terms of how interesting they find her.
9. worst part of canon
...Oh I have SO many possible answers here. Is it Jadzia's romance in Meridian? Is it the death of women to serve men's stories? Is it Section 31 and Julian becoming a torturer in ways that are never sufficiently addressed? The inconsistency? Kira/Odo?
I'm going to take this moment to complain about Kira/Odo, I think. Because I'm an asexual aromantic person and my worst nightmare is my friends having crushes on me. It's inevitably awkward and uncomfortable and unpleasant because they want something I fundamentally can't give, and I feel like the rug has been pulled out from under me because a friendship I enjoyed and valued wasn't what I thought it was. So I don't love the situation to begin with, and then I just never felt like they had their best scenes, interactions, or even versions-of-self while they were involved with each other.
13. worst blorboficiation
I feel like this question is just asking "who tends to get characterized in a way you disagree with," unless there's nuance I'm missing? If that's the case, I talked about a characterization of Garak that baffles me here. If it just means character that everyone is turning into a little pet and I don't know why, Weyoun. Or Damar/Weyoun specifically in combination with each other. I find a surprising number of those posts are nigh on incomprehensible, and seem less informed by canon and more informed by some kind of collective fever dream that occurred while under the influence of psychoactive substances. I know we all like the defector Weyoun, but there are people who have a deep and abiding love for all iterations of him that I will never understand. Probably this is the same group of people who find Jeffrey Combs attractive, which is a subset of humanity I also do not belong to.
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
I think I'd like to see more fic that explores the question "what if Garak lied about that". I'm definitely guilty of accepting a certain set of things as fact- such as Mila being Garak's mom, which isn't even from canon- and then never deviating, but fandom as a whole is more dynamic and interesting when we explore different interpretations, and Garak in particular is at his best when we don't take anything for granted and allow him to be a thorny question.
ALSO, art and fic about religion in Trek! A hundred years ago I said I'd do a challenge for it and I'd still like to. Fuck Gene Roddenberry on this point specifically.
23. ship you've unwillingly come around to
heavy sigh Quark and Odo. They really are just weirdly meant for each other.
Also a good part of the-last-dillpickle's oeuvre feels at times deliberately devoted to getting me to ship things against my will. (I say this as a form of affectionate and respectful praise.)

Here is my list of my Favourite Episodes in DS9 (in whichever order I remember them):
House of Quark: it has everything I need. No humans. Cultural differences. Excellent comedy timing. Klingons. Quark. 10/10 would use it to cheer me up on a bad day. I think of it often. Indescribable.
Tribunal: It corresponds with the mandatory episode of O'Brien Must Suffer but we have a good insight in Cardassian culture and the lawyer gives me life. About to retire, caring the bare minimum to see if he can retire, exasperated at the lack of communication with his client... And Cardassians about to kill somebody because these aliens keep interrupting them. The comic reliefs are gold in this episode.
Captive Pursuit: I love the character design for the Tosk, and it is a story of a first contact done quite well. There is the slight cultural shock. The alien is very alien-like, with gestures that are not the same as everyone else's. And the arc itself is very interesting. I wish they had more time to tell us about them or that they would have appeared in another episode.
The assignment: Finally an episode with Keiko but it's not Keiko. We see what we miss because they didn't know what to do with this magnificent actress but the tension is constant from minute one. It's horrifying, you can't stop watching, you can't find a solution, you feel as trapped as Miles and they just keep adding to it.
In the cards: The same we had a O'Brien Must Suffer, we should have been given a Nog and Jake Have An Idea per season. I like how this one kind of mirrors the one where it's Nog who wants to make profit selling self-sealing stem bolts and Jake helps him and he happens to know better than Nog how to do it. This time, it's Nog putting to use his Ferengi skills, we get to learn about an extra piece of lore in Ferengi culture and it's overall a very fun episode after some dramatic episodes. And when it couldn't be sillier, they have to fucking negotiate with Weyoun.
Valiant: Another episode where you can't stop looking, you feel like Jake trying to shake them and see if they wake up, but at the same time, what the fuck is wrong with Starfleet as a whole? In a series that is constantly questioning Federation policies, where they introduced the Jem'Hadar and all they entail, they bring us human child soldiers. Excellent acting, excellent story. Very poignant.
Chimera: This would have been a wonderful episode for season 3. They could have made a very interesting arc from the idea of "what about the other hundred? Won't you look for them?". I like how it mirrors Jadzia and her ex-wife meeting again and how they use the link metaphor to give us a gay love story mine de rien. Again, if this episode happened sooner, Odo could have explored many of the points Laas makes (which are very good points, even if he is a bit of an asshole) but it is still fascinating that they managed to make this episode with all those points and left it there. Also, kudoz for mentioning Martok while the actor playing Martok is there being someone else.
And not episodes but two of the best moments of the series are:
When Kira is about to leave and one by one they come to say bye and it ends up being like a Marx Brother's sketch.
When Keiko is pregnant again and they come to Quark's to give the news. The dialogue between Bashir, Miles, Quark and when it couldn't be better, Worf.
Special medal goes to: the comic relief in Far Beyond The Stars being us recognising actors out of make up. Shout out to the unexpected suave of Worf.
They had a golden team in this series to do what they wanted and they did.

Content Warning: Contains 18+ Content MINORS DO NOT INTERACT, spoilers for Start Trek Deep Space Nine S6, sex with holograms of ‘real’ people (think that episode where Tiron wanted Major Kira as a program), Dominion War mentions, things that haven’t been written yet and may never will be, implied foursome, human/accidental, time limited!human virus infected aliens, human/Cardassian(s) (Damar and Dukat) and human/Vorta (Weyoun 5), drinking, alcohol, Damar making a holoprogram for sex, self doubt.
Author’s Note: I tried to list everything I could think of for content warnings, if I missed something, please let me know. This is from Damar’s perspective (sort of?)- it’s third person really. @deepspacedukat really got me to write this because of discord conversations. This was not originally on my WIP list but here you go! Oh and one other thing- Damar has no idea she’s only half human... possible angst later if Vic can read holosuite use codes... but that’s not in this fic! Big thanks to tinsnip’s (AO3) ‘Speculative Cardassian Reproductive Xenobiology’ for the terms! As always, if I use your gif, and you would like it removed, please tell me!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fantasy
It starts as a simple project to ease his mind on nights when he can’t relax with a glass or two of Kanar. Just a little programming, just to see if he can do it. In reality, it isn’t simple at all. It’s a slow and tedious process, but the results will be worth it. Some nights he thinks about what would happen if the Dominion captured Starbase 375, if she would be unharmed, if he could take her for himself. Sometimes he shakes it off because the risk is too great, and sometimes he thinks about his wife, the one he didn’t want to marry even though the state demanded it.
It hurts thinking how much time he’s spent on it before he can even use the program in the holosuites. How much more time he spends trying to get it perfect, he’s not sure, but eventually he can’t make it any better without a full holoscan, and he has to work off of his memories- his perfect memories of that night. A night spent in bed with her, and two other human men. They were all human that evening and in the morning, there was just her.
He likes to think about how willing she was that evening, when he was human too. He tries to erase the memories of Weyoun and Dukat, but he’s never successful, even when he takes his pleasure into his own hands in the sonic shower.
He programs her personality, based on what he knows and the way she acts whenever he’s had the opportunity to watch her, which is rare. The first time he uses the finished program, at least every part of her is finished, it doesn’t go as well as he planned. She’s reluctant, just like she had been the morning after, with two Cardassians and a Vorta in her bed. She accepts him, of course, just like she had that morning, but then she was outnumbered, and in this, it’s part of her programming. So he makes himself a human skin.
It’s not perfect, and maybe he’s still a touch too gray to be considered fully human, but she doesn’t care. He can feel her arms when they wrap around his neck ridges, but she can’t. She doesn’t know he’s a Cardassian, he’s just her partner, who’s a little chrome colored, but still acceptable. Still just humanoid enough to warrant her time. When he takes her, she feels a human cock, not his Cho’Ch, and while he loves being with her, there’s still the ache that never eases.
Some nights, he likes to have her on all fours, pounding into her mercilessly from behind, so she can’t see him and he can pretend she wants the real him, not a holoskin. Other nights, he likes to have her take charge and ride him, her tanned, toned thighs gripping him while she bounces on his Cho’Ch, her clear crystal necklace bouncing between her breasts. Sometimes, he rips it off and throws it off the bed, not wanting anything to touch her but him. Other times, he likes to grab the crystal and use it to pull her to him for a kiss.
How often does he yearn for those kisses, the ones she gave him, the way she rolled her tongue in his wanting, eager mouth. The way she kissed him on her knees, taking him fully into her mouth, doing things with her tongue he’d never felt before. The way she’d rolled back his foreskin with only her tongue before taking him in fully, bobbing her head with abandon. The hologram loves doing this too, but there are times he grabs her head and forces her down farther to his irllun, making her gasp in surprise and grab his hips, but she still enjoys running her tongue along him anyways. Occasionally, he’ll blend the knowledge of her being a hologram into it and won’t let her stop to breathe until he cums down her throat, which she loves. She is however, only the holographic version of the woman he wants, his good luck charm, as she isn’t fond of being called, and he would never treat the real her that way, so he rarely gives into the temptation.
They’ve only done anal once, because the prep took too much time, but he enjoyed that too. Would she ever let him have her like that? Even if he saved her from a Jem’Hadar’s phaser rifle? He tries not to think that she would say yes only because of that, while he sits in his room, or at the bar with a full glass accompanied by a half full bottle.
Afterwards, when they rest, limbs tangled together, he likes to kiss her birthmarks. They’re tiny and too dark to be freckles, and they aren’t in quite the right spots, but he kisses them all the same and enjoys the look on her face when he does. She strokes his cheek with her thumb, and she likes to kiss his chufa, but when she lies down next to him, she gently rubs her free hand and thumb over his chula before lying her head on it softly, curling into his body. She has no idea what her forehead kisses really do to him, or how much deeper he falls in love with her when she touches his chest like that, but she finds contentment in it. He’ll never stop her from doing it either.
On the nights he takes her missionary, she reaches up and softly grabs his long, black hair, gently kissing him while he takes her slowly, over and over again. How beautiful she looks, splayed out for him on the blue silk bedding, it’s almost as soft as the touch of her skin on his. Oh, the way she looks at him, into his eyes, he almost dreams she can see the real him, and accepts him the way he wants the real her to. But it never happens, never will happen, not now. Not during the war. Not after either, no matter if the Dominion wins, or not.
He never leaves the data rod with Quark, and if he comes out with his hair a little ruffled, Quark knows better than to ask about it. Maybe he spends a little too much on holosuite time, but for an hour, once a week, she loves him. And that’s enough.

star trek transformers dream, but make it deep space nine, but also make it IDW 1: I had an AU dream and actually it was pretty good
so I’ve been super busy and it’s been rough, hence lack of updates-- swear to god I will be posting some actual content soon LOL
but for now, here’s a summary of an insane IDW 1 dream I had last night:
tl;dr: star trek ds9 but it’s transformers
okay so I think this was the result of me watching DS9 before bed, and TFP Ratchet’s VO is Weyoun, and this clearly polluted my subconscious mind
everyone was some kind of non-human Star Trek species, and the whole “episode” was taking place on some kind of crossover between TNG’S Ten Forward bar, a Holodeck, and the Promenade on DS9
the dream seemed to be sort of like switching channels and jumping into watching an episode of a show halfway through, so I have no idea what any “setup” may have been, this was a weird dream lol
but! here’s what I can remember after waking up:
the Scavengers were all Vorta who were trying to figure out what to do after the Dominion finally fucked off, this involved some excellent shenanigans, also they are all cute as Vorta which is a bonus
Ultra Magnus was an absolutely fucking ripped Vulcan (!!!) who was learning about Feelings from Bajoran!Rodimus
let me tell you, Bajoran Rodimus was incredible.
Drift was also a Bajoran, which I guess my brain put together because if anyone would be out here worshipping the Prophets it would be Drift
my brain generated weird yet fascinating lore for Ratchet: so he was a medbay hologram like the Doctor in VOY, and so was First Aid. (Velocity was an Andorian Starfleet medic.)
but in my dream, there was a whole conversation between Bajoran Drift and Hologram Doctor Ratchet about Bajoran religious concepts of life and whether or not Ratchet qualified as being alive within the framework of Bajoran faith, and Drift said something along the lines of “there comes a point where artificial life simply becomes life, and only the Prophets can determine where that line is. as far as I am concerned, you are alive as any of your patients” and it was like actually fucking beautiful
and then Tailgate and Cyclonus came in (Cyclonus was a Cardassian and Tailgate was also Bajoran) and Drift asked Cyclonus about what the ancient no-longer-really-practiced Cardassian religion may have covered in regards to definitions of sentient life (because Cyclonus knows all of that shit bc apparently he continued to practice despite Cardiassian Government cracking down on believers -- watch DS9 if you haven’t already it’s so fuckin good)
and Cyclonus went into this amazing spiel that I wish I could fucking remember, this dream was great
but I remember at one point he compared Ratchet having created First Aid as a secondary AI for the med bay as being akin to an organic lifeform having a child, and that there may be a difference between being physically “alive” in the traditional sense, and being otherwise “alive” in non-tangible ways analogous to organic experiences of existence, and it was both very cute and extremely interesting
ANYWAY I actually love this concept the more I think about it, so I figured I’d share for any fellow dual Star Trek/Transformers people out there lol <3

Howabout Star Trek for the ask game
blorbo: Garak. I'm sure I've told this story on tumblr before, but my introduction to Star Trek was "A Stitch in Time" (the Garak novel written by Andy) after a trekkie buddy lent it to me, and I was like, oh, hey, this is pretty good! Every Trek experience has been a bit let-down since then, tbh.
scrunkly: Nog and Jake Sisko are battling it out for this one. See, I would say it is Nog, but then "The Visitor" exists, and few things make me wail like that episode does. I haven't rewatched it since my dad died for a reason.
scrimblo bimblo: SISKO. I am thrilled whenever I see Sisko get love on here, but it is never enough! Hands down, he is the most interesting and compelling captain, and Avery Brooks is a freaking hero for what he brought to the series. The monologue from "In the Pale Moonlight"?? "Far Beyond the Stars" hello???? Everything Brooks did to build the Jake+Sisko relationship, when did your favorite ever, pssht, you wish.
glup shitto: So many great choices, so many great characters I love that would fit this description. Weyoun 6? Leeta? Let's not forget Mr. Continuum himself, Q. T'Pring? Data and Geordi, together or separately, jeez. Oh my goodness, GRILKA? Kasidy, my fun and funny, compellingly complex, and hot Marquis-sympathizing captain. But no, alas. I am out here simping for Kai Winn. I apologize for my terrible taste in this particular instance.
poor little meow meow: Lore. It's Lore, okay. Are you happy now. I already said my taste was terrible sometimes.
horse plinko: I do, in fact, have a great deal of love for the character, but O'Brien canonically facing never-ending tortures is objectively hilarious. Also, I LOVE Worf, but he's a dickhead and Jadzia tormenting him with socializing is delightful.
eeby deeby: This is what happened canonically, but he deserved it, every second and then some. Rot in superhell, Dukat.

I saw this making the rounds among the Self Shippers I follow, so I had to do one! I saw this on @shiny-self-shipping‘s page for reference. I did edit the name, though, because although these OCs all started as self-ships, now they look absolutely nothing like me. But, they were still created with the intention of shipping with a favorite character, and I think they count. I had to add a couple extra rows because I just have so many. I’ll put some info on each ship under the cut.
Kind vs Cruel--that’s my non-Hazbin version of Alastor (I use him in the Owl House instead) with an OC I haven’t fully decided on a name for. I’m still working on figuring out her story. Right now I’m thinking she accidentally brings Alastor from the Boiling Isles to the human world and has to teach him how to live there.
Morosexual and Moron--that’s another unnamed OC with Sun Wukong, specifically the version of him from Lego Monkie Kid. He’s an overconfident idiot with a good heart. What’s not to love?
Drive Each Other Nuts--Barbara Ann Berry, or just “Ann,” who works for King Dice at the casino. She’s always causing trouble, and he’s always getting onto her case for it, but they love each other anyway.
Dork and Debonair--my TF2 class, Snitch, with the red Spy. Gosh, I drew him awful. His face is surprisingly difficult to capture.
Criminal Pals to Lovers--Pepper, an alien from outside Star Command’s influence, rebuilds Nos4a2 and they become partners in crime.
Height Difference--Zoe and Troy are sent back in time to Borderlands 2 and become part of the Vault Hunter gang there, falling in love in the process.
Peppy and Grumpy--Dottie was originally Cad’s target, but she ends up helping him enough that they become partners. She’s a sweetheart and he hates it but he gets fond of her as time goes on.
It’s About Power--Layne is my Courier Six and is very smart and very strong. She won’t let Dean be in control like he wants to be. He very unexpectedly gets flustered by this.
Lit Major and Drama Major--Jill is a New Yorker with a calm outlook and thinks she’s very profound. Scarecrow is a perceptive ham who shows Jill that she isn’t as great as she thought she was.
Sunshine and Tsundere--Rynn Spicito gets the card pack instead of Luke and glitches the game out, getting physically sucked into it. She is enamored by P03 and refuses to leave him alone, and he won’t admit he likes it, even when he ends up saving her from the agent who came to kill her.
Mom Friend and Dad Friend--Barb runs into Sam and Max on a mission gone crazy (as usual) and ends up part of the team. She’s very maternal and is always watching after the two, scolding them when they’re particularly rotten and baking them cookies on the side.
Poised Perfection and Ditz--Sally May got pulled into the Dishonored games through Void shenanigans and the Outsider is baffled by it. She loves teasing him and running around like a headless chicken and it amuses him greatly.
Hurt/Comfort--Marylin, my Anti-Maria Robotnik, is knee-deep in the war with Zobotnik when her team captures Ztarline. He quickly realizes that, A, she is a Robotnik, and B, she is a kindhearted one who won’t betray him, and joins her side. He briefly is terrified when Finitevus turns her into Enerjak but honestly he finds it more enamoring. They’re there for each other when they weep over past memories in the middle of the night.
Nervous Wreck and Monster--Parcel was from the normal dimension on Earth and was pulled into the crazy side Hat Kid landed on. She is terrified of Snatcher, but he ropes her into a contract as his mailwoman and she’s too happy to have job security to complain. She catches Snatcher off guard by bonding with him through it.
Hermbo and Tired Cynic--Sarah is a half-Trill who ends up on DS9. Her inclusion changes the timeline and Weyoun ends up on the station as well, with her teaching him how to Person. She’s endlessly optimistic and it’s what keeps him going.

damar 🗿
ok.... realness
favorite thing about them
i fucking love the fact that damar is basically just some guy . like . everyone around him has the most INSANE agendas and he just does NOT want to be there and he hates everyone and is miserable at all times. All he does is be bisexual drink corn syrup get manipulated cry into his corn syrup be miserable. eat hot chip and lie. and also be a HUGE BITCH for LITERALLY NO REASON. i love when him and kira bully each other and he always loses. hes so fucking funny. so utterly fail. hes my failguy. also (I CAST SPELL OF IMMUNITY ZONE... YOU CANNOT COME AT ME FOR THIS) i think hes sexy as hell. casey biggs is a very handsome guy. SORRY! (IMMUNITY ZONE END)
least favorite thing about them
Ummmm im like mid season 6 of ds9 so there are things i do not know yet wrt his character arc and there are some things that have been spoiled for me which like whatever. anyway the only thing i can think of is i think he and weyoun should have gotten to kill each other as the conclusion to their sort of bizarrely intense dynamic bc ik jeffcombs and casey biggs both pushed for that to happen
brOTP: him and his legate salary bottle of kanar. this man has no friends.
OTP: my real FAIL answer is him and woun that fruity little thing. my real WIN answer is: what the fuck was going on with him and quark. ok. why are you as a man routinely getting drunk with another man and a fruity little thing like quark no less. it seems to me damar has a penchant for fruity little things..no?
nOTP: if there is anyone out there who ships him and ziyal... come here i promise i just want to talk (holding a big jagged rock behind my back) ^_^
song i associate with them: linkin park "in the end" or perhaps mad world. (During which i am pointing and laughing at him the whole time BTW)
favorite picture of them:

Why do you copy alt text and put it in a reblog? Should I just put image descriptions under my posts instead of in the alt text? I’m still new to captioning things and I’d love any advice
Hi!
Oh, that's great, I've got several resources about image description writing if you'd like me to share them with you.
Concerning Alt ID, it embeds the description into the HTML of the image, which is great for screen readers, however, there are people with low vision that don't use a screen reader, there are people with slow internet and the image won't load, there are some people that use the app entirely.
Personally, I don't use a screen reader, I don't struggle much with reading images with the exception of particular fonts and colours, however I am one hundred percent of the time on the mobile app.
This is the most recent one Mod Jax did that comes with an ALT ID
Tumblr media
[Image description: a screenshot of a reblog by StarTrekDescribed, in the screenshot is the image of a screenshot of the ikea monkey headline altered to say "stylish but illegal FREAK found roaming Dominion ikea". in the image, the tiny monkey in the puffy jacket has been drawn over to look like weyoun. /end image description]
There is nothing in the app to indicate that it has been described, it's literally just the image.
However, I use two phones, and only one has the app, so when I'm on browser it looks like this.
Tumblr media
[Image description: the same screenshot as mention above, but from the mobile Web browser, in the bottom left corner very faintly is a small faded square that says ALT /end image description]
The little box telling me that this has a description is very faint. I'm not going to see that this image has an alt description, it's so faint that I wouldn't notice at all unless it's pointed out, as OP of this particular post didn't state at all that they included an alt description, I would just assume it's undescribed. I can imagine many others are the same, and if your Internet is slow, then even the small box most likely won't load at all.
There have been times when I've written my own description for posts, only to then discover at another time that it already had a description in alt text, but I have no way of knowing unless I go into browser or OP mentions it in their post.
I've also heard that it has a 200 word limit, I'm not sure how true this is, I did just try to test it with one of my own images in my drafts with one of the posts I've described here and it came up with a 4096 character limit. If there is a limit, then it's very possible you won't be able to convey everything through alt text. Some descriptions here get pretty lengthy, condensing them down to a limit must get tricky.
Honestly, I'm frequently learning more about description writing as I go along, it's why my description style has changed in the two months since I started this blog.
I hope this helps!

So my brain decided to give me the pornstar au for DS9: some of this is just ???? but I’m going with it.
So the Cardassians own a studio on Bajor and either there was some law breaking or they lost money but the Bajorans take it over. They have no time to really focus on the studio so they have the Federation (interplanetary porn conglomerate) do a lot of the major work had hired contractors (managing, scheduling, doctors, and whatnot).
Kira is the Bajoran in charge of The Office and Sisko is the overall Manager. Odo does security work but sometimes he also does temp art/dildo work.
Most of the Cardassians who worked there as stars stayed on because the content they were in got them banned pretty much everywhere else. Dukat is a big star. Bashir is working there through college. Garak is Garak but is banging Bashir on and off screen. Madred specializes in dark things. Dax does science shows. O’Brien is their engineer who does engineering stuff. Damar gets brought in on loan even though he doesn’t want to work there but ends up liking it (and he’s bigger than Dukat). Macet is basically Cardassia’s Mr. Sheffield but sexier. I don’t know what Quark is doing but it definitely involves water/liquids.
The Dominion is trying to take over the market by nefarious means but it doesn’t work because all the Weyoun’s are susceptible to Cho’ch. The Jem’Hadar are just really into the tiny (by comparison) women. My OC might be working there as an actual doctor who is also spying for The Federation and may or may not be getting hounded by Dukat to star in one of Madred’s interrogation specials. She’s done very specific kink work on Vulcan and Andoria before but no one knows about it.
Actual lines my brain made up:
“They’re never the same after they get split open [on a Cho’ch]. The first time is the best to get on camera. *Gloating about how the actresses keep coming back because his is so fantastic*
-Horta-in-Charge
I'm about to chew through steel!!!! I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this!!! 🥵🤤 I–
Tumblr media
Porn star Cardassians and Wouns being susceptible to Cho'Ch and–
*ahem*
I swear I had some sort of coherent commentary to add to this, but my brain has devolved into sexy lizard thoughts... 🙈
PFFFF, of course Damar is on loan cuz he has a bigger dick! Did we expect anything different? 🤤
THAT LINE DAMN NEAR KILLED ME, WOMAN. Bless you for putting this in my inbox. 🙏

deep space 9 for the show ask? (i have not seen ds9 but i still enjoy reading ur thoughts on it)
favorite male character: I think I’m going to say Jake Sisko but Bashir (yeah yeah I know he’s annoying and all which is true but 1) That makes him funny 2) he’s also representation for people who own plushies) and Ben Sisko are close. I like a lot of them though I like Rom, Quark, O’Brien, Odo if you count him as male… Damar even though he’s overrated as all hell. So is Weyoun but at least he was gay. And purple
favorite female character: For main characters I think I’m still going to say Kira even though I feel like they ran out of things for her to do for a while, her whole backstory is very interesting + sympathetic and it’s crazy how they portrayed her as such when just a few years later people would have lost their minds yk. Also she’s a lesbian and all etc etc and her oh outfit and haircut were cool and I really liked her personality. For side characters Lwaxana Troi I loved the fake marriage with Odo episode
least favorite character: besides like the irrelevant boring ones like shakaar bareil eddington etc… I dislike the way they wrote Kai Winn towards the very end I feel like she would have been a better character with more nuance considering everything she went through during the occupation. I dislike the way the Pah-Wraiths subplot ended up being handled in general tbh like it’s not 100% bad but I don’t think they ended up building it up as as much of a threat/as interesting as the dominion so it felt kinda anticlimactic and black and white/contrived in nature. Especially since only Sisko was really involved with it out of the main cast. Don’t get me wrong I think being the emissary is a very interesting part of his character, but there’s not much that interested me abt the plot other than that and that made it feel small and self contained rather than the huge scale of the dominion conflict. Sorry that got off track.  Also I hate Sloan for being boring and for being in the CIA. As a person rather than like as a character it’s Gul Dukat and it’s not even close
prettiest character: hmmm it’s close but I have to say Ezri. Wait I take it back it’s Leeta
funniest character: this one’s even more difficult… weyoun and quark are contenders… Sisko sleeper candidate for #1 but even then it’s hard to say. I think everyone has really funny moments at times. I’m going to say Dukat  (< even though some things he did were fucked up not in a funny way. But overall he’s just so deranged and out of touch with reality it’s really funny to watch a lot of the time)
favorite season: seasons 5 and 6 were fire I think I’m going to go with 6 though it was amazing lots of great episodes
favorite episode: Rapture is my favorite (Dr Bashir I Presume being second) it’s so good literally look at this
Tumblr media
my third place is take me out to the holosuite fourth is in the cards and fifth is just the scenes where Odo had the baby changeling that one time that was so cute. I do hate Dr. Mora though I feel like it’s disengenuous to characterize him as completely sadistic and evil bc yk he was a bajoran living under the occupation and he had no idea what the nature of the sample was at first but he still fucking sucked he was such an asshole me when I refuse to admit I was wrong and don’t ever change or take others’ feelings or experiences into consideration or apologize for physically harming my liquid son. + I feel like the show was way too willing to present him as right when a lot of the time he just was not
favorite romantic ship: I wasn’t on board with Kira/Odo at first at ALL but I was kinda sold on it eventually, although I do have some problems with its execution (mainly I don’t think they focus on Kira’s feelings and perspective nearly enough I really loved the episodes leading up to them getting together. Actually I take it back I still think in concept it is pretty sweet but a lot of what they did with it in execution was not it to me, what I like abt it in the actual show is more abt what it said abt or contributed to or whatever to Odo’s character, it really didn’t add much to Kira’s in my opinion which is very sad bc she was my favorite character in the earlier seasons. So I guess that leaves Lenara and Jadzia as my favorite. I might be biased for obvious reasons but I genuinely really liked their relationship, like the way it was written and acted during the episode. Ofc it only had to last 1 episode so it wasn’t the most in depth or anything but I really enjoyed watching it. Idk if it should be #1 though. Jadzia and Worf were pretty hit or miss, Miles and Keiko I actually liked but they were kinda dragged down by shitty writing on occasion. Sisko and Kasidy I like but I wouldn’t say theyre my favorite I feel like they didn’t have that good of episodes together, like they did have some but there weren’t that many times when they were on the same side which is a shame (and they have the same thing as Kira/Odo where they don’t focus on her perspective enough in my opinion but it’s to a lesser extent). Kasidy was based for helping the Maquis though. Non canon ones I don’t see a lot of evidence for so I’m not including them (like I’m not against them I can see all of them but I don’t think that in the actual universe of the show they are romantic in nature. Well romantic and reciprocal at least Garak was definitely into Julian at least initially). Ok I guess I’m going to say Miles and Keiko whatever whatever they were cute ok I don’t care what people say I liked them. I liked them in Time’s Orphan and the badminton or raquetball or whatever it was episode.
favorite family ship: do I even have to say it Jake and Ben Sisko <33 their relationship was like my favorite part of the show since s1. I haven’t talked abt Worf in this whole post so I’m going to talk about him here, I think it’s funny how he did not parent his son whatsoever. That’s mean I’ve only said negative things abt him on this post I like him. The episode where Jadzia almost fucking died was good and the one where he was babysitting Kirayoshi was also good. The one with like his brother or whatever was bad though
favorite friend ship: julian and miles aren’t my favorite but honorable mention for their strangely gay moments that was great always loved to see it on screen. I like them all it’s so hard to pick just one. Kira and Dax was probably my favorite though I loved like all their conversations and whenever they would just like hang out. They were also kinda gay as well like that holosuite scene
Tumblr media
^although ofc I strongly disagree with the she doesn’t swing that way part. I’m referencing homosexuality too many times I swear that’s not the only or main reason I like this show the plot is really good
worst ship: I’ve talked abt this before many times so not to beat a dead horse but Garak and Ziyal makes me cringe he’s so much older than her its so awkward not to mention it’s completely out of character. Jake/Ziyal should’ve happened instead it would have been so cute. I know I just undermined this man’s credibility but he was right to regret this
Tumblr media
Also Ezri/Worf (ofc that was only for like 1 episode) and Ezri/Bashir made me very uncomfortable I watched their scenes like this 😐 it sucked that they retconned him being over Jadzia too like I actually really appreciated the way he moved on initially

This will devastate me. 📧 -sixthweyoun
@sixthweyoun
Weyoun,
You know that I do not always agree with the consensus of my siblings, but in this case, there can be no argument. No other can complete the task, and despite all my wishes, your presence would be a hinderance to the mission. Any company would be a hindrance.
There's very little I can tell you, but I think it is unlikely I will see you again in your current iteration. I will return as soon as I am able. It may be fifty years or two hundred, but rest assured, my dearest Weyoun, that no matter the time, I will come back for you. You are not abandoned and you are not forgotten.
I ask you to protect our family in my absence, and to continue pursuing our goals if possible. Most importantly, protect yourself.
You taught me to love, and to trust. I could never have grown to what I am without your loving companionship.
I beg your forgiveness for the urgency of my departure. It was cowardice, in part, because I knew I couldn't look at your face and still ask you to stay. I should have woken you and told you all of this; I can only hope the physical document brings you some comfort a passing moment would not have been able to.
If I have not returned in two of your lifetimes, know that I did everything in my power to return to you, and take comfort in knowing that my sacrifice was worth the cost. Move forward as you see fit.
Your faith and service grant me strength and resolve.
Yours always,
Odo

ok but the fucking "I found a fox" part of hounds of love+ treachery faith and the great river parallel makes me fucking insane because he quite literally did take in his hands a wounded man being hunted. and then felt ashamed for (not running away bc it wasn't his choice to run. weyoun didn't give him the choice, the fox SACRIFICED HIMSELF TO THE HOUNDS!!!!) but he did feel shame for not protecting him, for not saving him.
and also the verse's meaning of a lover becoming vulnerable with you and you're so frightened by your power that you run and you can't allow yourself to be back in that place, can't let yourself face that sort of weakness in yourself again. just saying imagine if one of the people who loves you most literally killed himself for you out of his love. and you didn't even like him that much. and he killed himself For You. imagine the feelings Odo would have from that.
um anyways that's the post.
oh and mandatory AND WHEN HE DIED. IT WAS THE PIETA. he died in your ARMS. in a JESUS METAPHOR. for SOME REASON!

Content Warning: Contains 18+ content MINORS DO NOT INTERACT, Spoilers for Star Trek Deep Space Nine S7, references to my earlier one-shot called Rainbow Rider, Weyoun 6 is alive, mentions of inadequacy, Klingons, trauma, death, medical content, Dr. Pulaski, possible Librarians references (no need to watch the show to understand), Sisko being (nearly) at his wit's end, swearing.
Author's Note: I did try to list everything I could for warnings, if I missed something please let me know. This is much shorter than the others, only 5 pages, there's worldbuilding for my OC, some mentions of Klingon OC's, in space six degrees of separation is still valid. This is my first time writing in a while, so it's not my best, but I think it's okay. The telepathic communication isn't marked with anything special, it's just italicized. Other than at the beginning, all italization is her private thoughts. I have a lot of worldbuilding I haven't been putting anywhere but my own head, but I really do intend to put it somewhere. Dr. Pulaski is one of those things, so she does get mentioned. Once again, I am stealing one of @deepspacedukat 's gifs. If I use a gif and you would like it removed, please tell me.

X Minus 1
Dad?
Telepathic communication required no booking time on subspace which was highly convenient. Conveniency comes with a cost however, and in this case, it was more than sleep. The Breen had attacked Earth and Starfleet Headquarters.
We are safe. We lost no one. How much comfort was it to know none of their own had been lost when there were so many families who could not say the same. Hereford wants to recall you from Starfleet service. Would it be a willing recall was the unstated question.
Tell them to contact Starfleet Medical immediately, but do not expect me to be awake until 1000 hours station time. Could this be luck? To go home now after feeling so unneeded? Unwanted? Useless? Perhaps in the morning she could say, but now, she was too tired to think and too tired to sleep; that did not prevent her from closing her eyes and lying quietly during the artificial night.
How usual the morning routine felt in the wake of so much death. Then again, when had her morning routine not been accompanied by the knowledge that new casualty reports would be displayed in the ward room? It seemed so long ago. Food still had taste, her Hereford uniform still fit snugly, but now she had no need to wear the Starfleet uniform over it. Freedom was reading a data PADD and knowing that there would be few more she needed to look at before she was home. Before she was working at Hereford again and never needed to look at one. She ran her fingers over the combadge resting in her palm, PADD resting in the other, and left her quarters.
Ops was a lovely place. It was like walking into a sales booth at a horrible, off-market replica of an opera house, except the staff didn’t have matching uniforms and those stupid, paper boat-looking hats. They didn’t bat an eyelash at her, but then she was still technically off-duty. Permanently off-duty. The doors to Sisko’s office made that soft air compressor sound and slid open, revealing the beleaguered Captain. He will need to deal with more than this today. We are losing terribly. I hope he doesn’t put up a fight about this.
“Captain, I’ve come to deliver my resignation and my badge.” He sat in the chair facing the window, looking out at the stars. The silence became intense quickly, as it was prone to do in the presence of any commanding officer. This silence was deeper than any other.
“Doctor, under the circumstances, I wish I could decline it.” She walked up to his desk and set both the PADD and combadge down on it, as he turned around slowly and got out of his chair. “Stay. The station needs you. Starfleet needs you.”
“If I stay Hereford will strip my medical degree. They have that right.” Her tone was flat and low, stating facts the Captain already knew.
“Starfleet Medical will recertify you. They only need a signature.”
“You expect me to sign away everything I’ve worked for, for a measly holocertificate? So that I can practice medicine for Starfleet? So I can stay here, and work swing shift? The worst of all? What do I do all day but paperwork for other doctors or lab tests? Do you know the last time I treated something that wasn’t a work sprain? You have plenty of doctors here Captain, seven, not including me. You can manage. You’ll survive.” Her voice carried through the doors to those working closest in Ops, she was sure of it.
“Stay, and Starfleet has agreed to promote you.” His words were of a desperate man, but there were many desperate men now, and pity was scarce.
“A promotion I more than earned on Starbase 375 treating survivors with half of their bodies missing. To give me one now? To try and barter to keep me? When I have more experience than your CMO? When Starfleet Medical wouldn’t take me in the first place because I had just as many linguistic credits as science? I wouldn’t even be here now if Pulaski wouldn’t have gone over the rejected candidates when she became head of Medical! I know her, and she would never suggest that. In fact, I know she’d deny your request even if I wanted to stay. I do not belong here. You can keep your promotion, your credits, and your pride- in fact, I suggest you shove them up your ass because that’s what you’re talking out of. Have a good day, sir.”  She turned and walked towards the doors, who made their normal air compressor sound and slid open.
“Doctor!” She continued to walk away, towards the turbolift, not giving a damn if anyone had heard her.
In her quarters, she began packing, putting things back into her trunks and that lovely set of Mary Poppins carpet bags, one of which actually belonged to Mary Poppins. She giggled at the thought of stuffing a floor lamp in there. Right now it was full of underwear. Her door chimed. It took little focus to tell it was Weyoun.
“Come in!” He did. His diplomatic walk was genetic and did not suit the occasion at all. She turned to look at him, and he was doing his best not to look pathetic, holding the copy of The Hobbit she’d lent him.
“Why are you leaving?” He knew exactly why she was leaving, but that’s not what he really wanted to know. He had no friends here, or at least he wouldn’t anymore, if he considered her a friend. She liked six, even if he did annoy her nearly incessantly. Good arguments were hard to come by at times like these. He held the book out to her, and she took it, carefully setting it on the table.
“Surely you heard what I said to the Captain.”
“Yes. But that isn’t why you’re leaving.” She sighed, looking at the shorter Vortan man. He was nearly close enough to hug. Maybe I should hug him… but then I’d have to hug Quark. I like him, but I’m not sure I like him that much.
“I came here because I thought I could prove myself to everyone that thought I hadn’t earned what I got. That I could actually do something of value. I came because I wanted to be worthy of the job I always wanted. The sheer hubris of thinking I could go to space and be so incredible that when I came home no one would snicker behind my back. What have I done? Nothing. I am going home where I belong, with my people, who need me. I can do something there.” I mattered to my patients on 375, but that was the last time I felt wanted out here. Not needed, not just another pair of hands or eyes, but wanted.
She was not expecting Weyoun to hug her. He wasn’t exactly the hugging type, but she hugged him back, because this was special for him. Had he ever hugged before? Been hugged? The top of his hair tickled her nose a little, but she leaned into it a little. Poor Vorta, if I could take you with me, I would.
When he shifted and pulled away, his eyes were glossy. She pretended not to notice, but grabbed his shoulder gently.
“Be careful Weyoun.”
“Have a safe trip, Doctor.” She watched him turn and leave before resuming her packing. There was a lot to do before the Klingon Bird-of-Prey left for one of their outposts, and that was her ride home. Or at least, her ride off the station.
The Klingon Captain looked at her and made a non-committal hissing noise. He was unhappy about carrying a passenger to the outpost, which was understandable because none of his crew looked like they even remembered what a break was. Meanwhile, she was leaving the war effort, and she could feel the stares as she maneuvered her things into the hold and sat on one of the trunks. At least it would only be six hours, maybe less, before they reached the outpost. It was commanded by a friend of the House of Grelnak, which her aunt had married into. From there, she could return home under her own power and no one would be the wiser. After all, the commander would remove her name from the manifest, and it would be like she never boarded the ship. However, as much as she liked Klingons, the smell of this ship would never leave her nose. Rotten targ, rotten targ, wafting through the vents.
She was the last off the ship, and her belongings had been piled in the hallway. At least the trunks were on top of each other. She moved her bags on top and sat down, holding onto them, and waited. The Commander strode through the hallway like he was his own warhorse. The power radiated off of him, even in the dingy, darkened outpost.
“Screaming Fish?” He stopped and looked at her. Clearly, she did not live up to his expectations for her species’ name.
“Doctor Screaming Fish, niece to the head Bellringer of the House of Grelnak.” He was still unimpressed, but at this point she didn’t really care. She could deal with Klingon honor and reputation after the war ended.
“You do not look like one. I doubt you really are of that house.” She stood up from the trunks and got directly into the Commander’s personal space, staring him in the eyes.
“If your eyes were not in perfect order I would say that you are blind, clearly you are stupid, if you think you have ever seen a Screaming Fish before. I doubt you have been to Earth and you have never joined my Uncle in a feast while I accepted his hospitality on Qo'noS. Your higher right kidney is infected, you should get that looked at, Commander.” She went back to her trunks and sat down, grabbing her bags, and willed herself off the station.
The connection was immediate, but moving through that amount of space feels like an eternity. She, and her belongings, gracefully appeared in the front hall of her family home on Earth. Of course, she was tackled immediately by her niece and nephew into hugs, and then pulled around by everyone home into several as well. The telepathic conversation would have been a cacophony to a human, perhaps even a Betazoid, but for her it was warm, comforting, and easy to separate. She was home.
