okay so let's skip to Hisoka's introduction. You don't like Hisoka.

also when i say you don't like him, i mean that you despise this dude.

first of all he looks like a clown and you caught him looking at Gon like he gonna be the love of his life. (traumatizing experience would not recommend it)

you where obviously alerted about his behavior and told Gon to be like extra careful around this dude.

did he listen?

you and Killua protect Gon from Hisoka and Gon is just like ''???''

y'all would also make plans about murdering Hisoka with Killua

i also feel like when the three of you guys are talking, Hisoka would randomly just come in and y'all would just shut up and wait for him to leave.

you probably (try to) get them out of chaotic situations but most of the time they just end up getting involved.

When Killua told y'all he was an assassin you where pretty interested.

i mean you knew that he could just killed you immediately if he wanted you but you just wanted to know more about him and his life.

You crave knowledge and you know it. Good for you bud!

when you guys saw Killua just crave out that one dude's heart. You where more interested than everrr. After he came back you asked millions of questions!

you guys have a love-hate relationship. Y'all can argue about something the whole day then something would attack you both and now you guys are the best partners

if something happened to one of you guys, the other one would just break

another thing is that it really doesn't matter if you're strong or weak, you can make yourself seem strong either way. I imagine you being pretty confident and Killua low key be kinda jealous about that.

i also imagine Gon just asking to you about EVERYTHING.

for instance, someone stealing money? ''Hey Reader, why is that man stealing?'' like you want to answer but you also don't want him to be upset.

you also have to explain him stuff. Like someone be talking about random things and he'd just whisper to you like ''what is he talking about?''

Gon trust you a lot and talks to you a lot. He finds you very smart!

you appreciate his company a lot and you really do respect him.

I bet you knew all along that he was gonna be very strong. You can see the potential of people

he also talk about his dad a lot.

another thing is that you either know how to use nen or you just know what is nen.

remember the leaf in the water thing? Yeah you moved the leaf the first try (probably pissed off Killua)

you also helped Killua and Gon while they were trying to use nen

I'm thinking of being a teacher but i'm still a bit worried about how to handle potential situations that could crop up. Have you ever had an issues with students being rude or inappropriate of have your experiences in that regard been mostly good?

completely honestly like 95% of my experiences have been good. most kids are great, and it's a joy to work with them. but nothing can always be perfect lol. and no one can get along with everyone, it's just a sad fact.

of course this also depends on the area and school too, partly at least. in some areas in Finland students are more difficult overall, and there are more difficult situations to handle. I teach in a pretty small, pretty rural school so I feel the kids are mostly more down to earth in a way? and I can, with complete honesty, say that I have never been afraid for my own physical safety. the most the kids do is mouth off.

I feel that most of the time the important things to working with teenagers are:

pick your battles. sometimes it's not worth it to argue even if they're technically doing something that's not allowed or that's rude. if you make every tiny thing into a big deal then you'll just wear yourself out. and it's easier to deal with the actually big things bc then you're taken more seriously.

it's good to have a sense of humor about things. like... i'm too tired for a good example lmao but something like a kid complaining that math fucking sucks, it's often better to go "Oh but it's the best thing everrr!" than "Don't be rude and don't swear >:(" if that makes sense? a certain level of humor does not detract from them taking things to heart.

always remember you're the adult, they're the kids. if they're being rude or difficult, the answer is very rarely to be rude or difficult in return. lmao there have been a few instances where I've kinda used it tho, but it has to be sparingly, and it has to be lighthearted enough that no feelings get properly hurt.

I genuinely love this job. but I also know there are schools and classes where it's rougher than here so I am lucky, too. and there have been lessons where as soon as it ended I shut myself into the bathroom to cry because everything went to hell :'D but those are very, very rare. it's much more common that things go well, or at least decently enough lol.

I’m gonna name off a bunch of random characteristics I would need(?) in my partner ((ig???)),

I like people who have a, kind of, natural charm around others. Their not used to super big crowds, but maybe, at small family dinner, they are able to keep up seemingly endless conversations with your friends and family.

I love love love funny guys, sarcasm is my favorite forms of humor. I enjoy dark humor but none of the racist, homophobic, transphobic shit. Dark humor is supposed to be self deprecating, it’s not really a joke if it never actually happened to you, bc your not making jokes about your own experience, its at someone else’s expense. I don’t like humor like that.

I am very easily manipulated,, so I need a guy who wouldn’t take advantage of my dumbass. I want someone that I can full heartedly trust them with my life if needed.

I really like talkative people, I can’t stand when there is silence((unless its comfortable or chosen silence.)) but if you can’t put effort into, like, actually starting a conversation then we’re both pretty much fucked.. at first I will not talk and then i’ll probably be the only one talking. THEN, you’ll think im annoying,, or at least ik you’ll be thinking it.

I honestly really like possessive guys? I looovveeee when they are clingy, like when they would rather you hangout with your friends with him then just w your friends. I need a guy who would be down to do pretty much whatever, very go with the flow and doesn’t really care too much what we’re doing as long as we all laughing. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t suggest places to go!!

I NEEEEED a man who smokes weed or is at least cool w it. I could never ever everrr quit smoking pot for anyone. Plus it would be a win-win if they did smoke bc we could always smoke together (hence doing EVEN MORE together!!)

I need someone that will understand about certain noises, lightings, weathers, etc.. overstimulating me, I need someone that will actually try to help me instead of ignore it..

Anyways i’m sure I can think of more lmao,, definitely not trying to make my own ai robot bf??? (definitely not doing that)

HC: Working at a restaurant with them

So I work at a restaurant and let me just say- it kinda sucks. Its either super busy or super dead and *cough cough we are totally understaffed. But anyways, I’d thought it’d be fun to write HC for what it would be like to work with the BNHA boys at a food joint!

MIDORIYA

Where You Two Work:

Definitely a coffee shop, and a super aesthetic one at that

The type that doesn’t actually have the greatest coffee, but one that people come just because of how adorable and peaceful it is

The whole inside is made up of rich browns, creamy whites, and refreshing greens, with knick knacks of all shapes and sizes littering the walls and cabinets (and even from the ceiling)

You had first began working with Uraraka, but she gave her 2 weeks notice to your boss after a month of you working there

But she had also recommended a friend to take her place- and he got hired

On the first day, Midoriya was already pretty nervous- a new job! A new place! What if he couldnt do everything that was asked of him? What if everyone was super mean? What if he just downright hated it?

When he walked in, and saw this beautiful girl at the counter, he couldn't BrEaThE

He seriously thought you were an angel

When you greeted him as you usuallye became a Huge WRECK- stuttering, sweating, the works

And then he said you were going to train HIM

ONE ON ONE

Izuku didn't know whether to be terrified or ecstatic, because he 1) wanted to never be away from you now and 2) he had NO IDEA how he was going to survive being alone with you and having your undivided attention on him for a couple of hours

What makes him Angry:

Hates how people become so rude to you and show you no respect as a person

It also pains him that you just have to sit there and take it

He has literally seen people point in your face, accuse you of outlandish accusations, and call you rude names

Once witnessed an adult woman call you “stupid” and asked you “if you even went to school” because you accidentally put 2 pumps of caramel syrup instead of 3

This has literally happened to me-just not in the same context :\

Another time, this man was screaming in your face on how he hated his coffee and wanted his money back

Midoriya could tell you were extremely stressed even though you were smiling and being cheerful towards the man

The man mistakenly took your positive demeanor as an insult, because he decided to try and throw his half drinken ice coffee at you

Midoriya instantly saw this, and as if as a reflex, caught it right before it splashed all over your apron

“I think it’s time for you to leave now sir”, he said calmly, but his face didn’t match- it was furious

The man tried to yell at you some more, but he saw Izuku’s face and decided it was best to leave

After that incident, Midoriya didnt leave your side and kept checking up on you throughout the shift

How You Usually Work Together:

Midoriya is always the most helpful one

He’s extra helpful with you because of the MASSIVE work crush he has

But if you ever need help cleaning tables? He’s on it

Need to do the dishes? No worries, he’s got it

Just need a 10 minute break? You sure as heck know he’s dropping everything to make sure you rest

He’s not the best at making drinks, but his adorable personality makes him the best cashier

Mingled with your quick drink time, you two are always getting crazy good tips, especially since your both scheduled in the morning, which is typically the biggest rush of the day

Which you both share of course

When it becomes super dead after a big rush, and you two had cleaned up, you’ll make each other’s favorite drinks as you wait for your shifts to end

You two both worked hard, you deserve a free coffee!

Midoriya always asks for green tea boba, and you make whatever your feel like drinking at that moment

You’ll sit on the counter, smiling and laughing at Midoriya’s crazy stories about his friends over at UA, and just relish the feeling of being with him

Because he’s turned into your work crush too

TODOROKI

Where You Two Work:

I imagine Todoroki working at the most BOUJEE-IEST PLACE EVERRR

Like some super expensive sushi place that takes literally 3 months to get a reservation and you need to pay a down payment to eat there

Like tthe Boujee of the boujee

Is that even how you spell boujee oh well ACK

You had quit your last job because you hated it, and were now desperately job searching

One of the job sites you had joined sent you a message that this place was paying $15/hour

I WiSh

You of course instantly applied, and went to an interview a week later, completely nervous because of how rich this place looked

After the interview, you kind of assumed you wouldn’t get hired because you didnt feel you had enough experience, but to your surprised, you got a phone call a few weeks later asking you to come in for Training

You met your boss, and your manager, who showed you the ropes of the place- it was amazing seeing all these high class chefs at work and all the guests you recognized

Everyone was a high figure of society: social media stars, political figures, even heroes!

You began to sweat a little, realizing you’d have to be around this people every night

As you were looking around the room, trying to calm your nerves, you saw him-Literally the prettiest boy you had ever seen

He was wearing a white dress shirt and black bottoms that looked just as expensive as the restaurant, his hair was perfectly split between red and white, and he had a red patch over his blue eye, his expression calm as he filled an empty water cup at a small table

Your manager noticed you staring at Todoroki, your mouth slightly agape

“Ah, I guess you noticed Todoroki!” she cried happily, “Todoroki, when your done helping our wonderful guests, come and say ‘hi’!”

Todoroki looked up, his expression unreadable as he looked at his overly happy manager and your blushing face

He nodded solemnly at the woman thanking him for his water, and came walking over, the pitcher of water still in his hand

“Todoroki, I’d like you to meet our newest hostess, y/n!” she smiled brightly as Todoroki stared at you with so much attention you felt he was staring at your soul

He reached out his hand, his expression blank

“Welcome,” he stated matter of factly

His palm was warm, his calloused skin rubbing against your skin gently

“If you’ll excuse me,” he spoke to you and your manager, “I have to work to do.”

And just as quickly as he came, he was gone, his shoulder inches from brushing yours

“Well, he’s very ...mysterious,” you sighed, wondering if you’d be working with him more- the more you looked at him, the more you wanted to learn more about him

“Yes, yes, that Todoroki sure is a quiet one,” you manager agreed, “But, surprisingly, he’s one of our best servers! Ever since he started working here, we’ve been having TONS of regulars!”

“It’s probably that pretty face of his,” your manager winked, laughing as you blushed

“Or it might be because he’s the son of Endeavor,” she added casually

“WAIT-” you gasped, “He’S ThE sOn oF-

What Makes Him Angry:

The creepsters that try and get with you make him furious

He hasn’t told you he likes you, or even given you a reason to think he has emotions for you because he is terrible at showing any type of feelings, but he is HIGHLY observant of you

Because hes a starer not gonna lie its borderline creepy

He knows your mannerisms for when your happy and having a good day, or when you feel down in the dumps

You could look like the most cheerful person going into work, but Todoroki will know instantly that that happy smile of yours is being strained, and he’ll ask if you’re okay and if you want to talk

So when creepy idiots are trying to give you pick up lines or ask for your number, he knows right when you feel uncomfortable

And it also pisses him off because… he’s got FEELS for you

“Hey uh uhm…” the man yelled with an huge grin, snapping his fingers as if he remembered something he had been straining so hard to recover from his memory, “Y/N! Some more wine sweetheart!”

You turned around, putting on your fakest smile and fighting the urge to roll your eyes.

“Coming right over, sir!” you stated, carrying the very expensive bottle of wine this man had practically drunken half of by himself

“Thanks darlin’,” he smiled, giving you a wink that made you want to laugh in disgust- did this dude really think he had a shot with you? Gross!

“While your at it, why dont you stay for awhile, talk some with me- I’d bet we have alot in common,” he drawled, trying to be suave and smooth-talk you in front of his equally creepy-looking friends

“Sorry to break it to you sir, but if you look around, there’s no room for me to sit. And besides, I have to get back to work-,” you replied slightly less cheerfully, trying to move away,

The man grabbed your wrist, making your blood run cold.

“Aww c’mon darlin’, dont play hard to get,” he said breathily, wrecking of wine, “you can sit right here!” He then patted his lap, giving you a wink as his buddies laughed

You began to turn red form embarrassment, ready to do something irrational to teach this creep a well deserved lesson

“She won’t be sitting anywhere near you sir,” you heard Todoroki’s steady and confident voice near you, feeling his powerful presence that instantly made you feel safe

“And if you keep using vulgar suggestions like that towards our staff, I’ll be forced to tell security-and then I’d be able to teach you a well deserved lesson about manners towards women outside.”

You stared at Todoroki in shock- you had never seen Todoroki this mad, he was always so calm and collected. His face was so dark, it didn't even look like him.

“Are you trying to threaten me kid?” the man asked lowly, his tone dangerous as he began to stand up.

“Wait Nijagke- I think that’s Endeavor’s kid- look at the hair,” one of his buddy’s friend whispered to the man fearfully, “You dont want to mess with Endeavor.”

The man gave Todoroki a hard stare, slowly sitting back down.

“Your lucky you got Daddy’s name to protect you, boy,” the man hissed, “or I’d be the one taking you outside.”

“I sincerely doubt that,” Todoroki spat back, gingerly taking your hand in his and leading you into the break room to make sure you were okay.

How You Usually Work Together:

Todoroki is the definition of mysterious work hawtie

Like he barely talks to you but somehow talks just enough to know him as a person, but you’re always craving more information about him

Like you know he’s full name is Shouto Todoroki, he goes to UA, he’s Endeavor’s kid, he hates his dad, and that he only got this job so he wouldn’t have to be home more than he had to

Todoroki, let me give you a hug ^--^

But he also has the biggest crush on you and doesn’t know how to communicate it, so he does the wierdest crap

Like you once mentioned to your coworkers how you think chivalry is dead because men never give roses anymore, and the next day at work there was this huge rose bouquet in the work room sent to you

Your manager sees all this and totally tries to set you two up ALLL the time

Like she’s always dropping little hints like “Oh really, thats so funny y/n, because TODOROKI’S SINGLE TOO!”

Leaves you always as a stuttering mess while Todoroki blushes softly

Is always offering to do things for you and buy you lunch

And even if you refuse, he still buys you lunch

ALL THE TIME

Because he got that money to spend$$$

BAKUGO

Where You Two Work:

You two work at the most generic food chain, like McDonald’s or Taco Bell

You at first worked with Kirishima, you two only really working there for some extra summer cash

Kirishima was the most positive person ever and you loved working with him because of his optimistic attitude

He was always talking about his buddies at UA, and there was three that always came in asking for free food

*cough cough Pikachu, Tape Boy, and Best Girl Mina

But the one he ALWAYS talked about was his best friend

How Kirishima talked about him, he was a little rough around the edges but was super cool to be around, and you actually wanted to meet him- if he hanged out with such a fun group, he must be as chill, right?

WRONG

You came in one day to see Kirishima in the back room talking to your boss, a spiky blonde next to him that had his hands stuffed in his pockets

You didn’t think really anything of it, until the very next day

Kirishima waltzed in, his buddy from yesterday at his side, looking like he wanted to murder somebody, the hat he was supposed to wear balled up in his hand

“Im not wearing this stupid hat Kirishima,” he spat at his friend with so much force you couldnt help but be a little curious by him- he was pretty hot.

“C’mon Bakugo, its just a hat!” Kkirishima said nonchalantly with his usual smile, waving at you.

“Hey Kirishima, I thought you weren’t working today,” you asked, eyeing his friend from the corner of your eye

Even though he was sulking like a child, it was kinda….cute?

“Yeah, I am,” he sighed, “I was just coming over to introduce you to Bakugo! I got him hired!”

He smiled so happily, you couldnt help but smile with him, his friend still brooding

“Im only doing this because you forced me to, you idiot, and I got hired without your help,” he grunted out, stomping his way behind the counter.

Kirishima looked at your concerned face, giving you a reassuring smile.

“I promise,” he oathed, “he’s a little rough around the edges, but he’ll warm up to you!”

“Good luck training him!” he yelled happily as he walked out the door, leaving you with the fuming blonde behind you

Oh great

What Makes Them Angry

People

Just people in general

He HATES talking to people

He is always cooking because hes quick and makes the food really good, but being even close to customers- NO

He will YELL at a child who drops food on the ground

And has done it

But his biggest pet peeve is people who feel entitled enough to say crap about how to food isnt up to their ‘standards”

Because 1) 9 times out of 10, he made the goddamn food

And 2) They always yell at you for all their insignificant little problems, and you take it

Like what the hell you’re actually nice to them after the yelled in your face?!

He hates seeing you cry

Like if somebody makes you cry- they’re dying

One time a lady screamed at you from the register that she shouldn’t have to pay for cheese on her burger, calling you really rude names

You politely excused yourself to get your manager, and as you walked by Bakugo in the back, he saw you trying not to cry

Angry Pomeranian activated

As you’re explaining the situation to your manager as he hands you some water to calm down, you both hear Bakugo screaming in the front

“-THE HELL YOU YELLING AT MY COWORKER?! YOURE EATING AT MCDONALDS YOU IDIOT HOW CHEAPER DO YOU WANT IT TO BE?!”

You literally had to fight for your boss to not fire Bakugo after that

How you usually work together:

Bakugo acts like he always hates being there

Only talk in grunts and eye rolls

When he does talk, he’s always whining or yelling

Its kinda scary

He always acts indifferent to you-but- he actually likes you

Like ALOT

When he clocks in, he is always angry, until he sees you, and he seems to melt a little bit

He thinks, for some odd reason, you look adorable in the uniform

Which was a real What the Hell moment for him because HE IS HaRdCoRe

He doesnt do CRUSHES

Kirishima catches on real quick though

He doesn’t really say anything about it- he just kinda watches it

When he drops hints though to Bakugo, Bakugo intatantly gets MAD

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN I GOTTA CRUSH ON HER?! ON THAT TWERP?! HELL NO!”

Thats when Kirishima KNOWS his buddy definitely has a crush

One time you were slightly late to work, still not even in dressed in your work clothes

You were wearing a cute off the shoulder top with a skirt

“Sorry! I was at a family event! I didnt think I’d be late!” you huffed out, hastily clocking in

BAKUGO COULDNT STOP STARING

When you walked, he literally was just MESMERIZED by your LEGS

Kirishima noticed his friend practically drooling

“Really?” he laughed, elbowing his friend, “No crush?”

“SHUT UP YOU BAKA,” Bakugo stuttered, trying to hide his blush

AHHHHH

neither of them have theme songs really??? overall druck has the better soundtrack imo so we’ll go with that

This is only tangentially related to the Arab anti-blackness thing but that’s one reason I never ever EVERRR understood why the whole “getting back to our roots” thing that a lot of black Americans seek out so often brings them to converting to Islam, taking on Arabic names, and generally just mimicking aspects of Arab cultural exports that were brought to Africa the same way Christianity and European culture was: violent conquest and the destruction of indigenous culture.

And don’t get me wrong - this doesn’t apply to black folks who just find Islam appealing by its own merit. I’m talking specifically about those of us who think that converting will signify a more “authentic” black experience. Like. Africa as a content is so incredibly diverse both genetically and culturally that you could have so many spiritual options to explore, but people end up following something that’s a branch of the same tree from which Christianity spouted from. Maybe it’s because it is so similar to Christianity (compared to many indigenous beliefs) and therefor seems like a less jarring transition that it seems like an appealing option.

I think this is all a pet peeve the same way the hotep thing is, aka romanticizing some exotic north African culture as proof of black excellence when we ourselves are mostly descended from west Africans. Folks are desperately grasping for a culture with “deeper” roots but just seem to end up so far off the mark.

I’d say there’s also an element of desire for solidarity as it relates to Muslims being an underdog class in the west that certain types of people are drawn to by some sense of camaraderie, often forgoing any global examination of how Muslims in MENA represent a subjugating ruling class that often violently suppress minority groups in a way that often combines beliefs of ethnic and religious supremacy.

Hmmm I just have a lot of thoughts on this and like it definitely hasn’t been a popular topic on tumblr because (duh) it is a primarily western-dominated site and people get uncomfortable lobbing critique at groups that are so often unfairly criticized in our general region of the world in the first place but I do see some shifts happening in the recent years that will hopefully allow for more conversation on the topic.

Anyways blah blah blah long story short just because white people dislike [insert literally any group here] doesn’t automatically mean we have any meaningful solidarity with them beyond our humanitarian duty to prevent unjustified suffering for any and all people. *Tyra voice* stand up to injustice... but don’t turn into an uncritical peanut brain

an open letter to the person that even in our parallel universe, would never be mine.

our relationship did not start with the grandest of emotions - it started with a simple chat over cookies and fries and nuggets from Mcdonald’s. 🤍 i remember it oh too well how i felt that very night when you agreed to see me in the wee hours of that night.

it was quiet, peaceful and calm. we talked about series worth watching on Netflix and you even convinced me to watch Friends - which i did; all because i wanted to impress you and so that we can have something to talk about in the future.

a lot of text messages were exchanged, and i did not have the slightest clue that i was already into you. you were the first thing that comes to my mind from the moment i wake up 🌞 it was only you who i’d like to talk to, workout with, eat with and all that. i found myself head over heels for you :)

days turned into months and finally, on february 9th at exactly 11:04PM, you said you love me. it felt like a next level relationship is FINALLY up for grab. you have no idea how my heart skipped not just a beat but beats. it also felt like i’ve won the goddamn lottery. 🤍 being with you made me feel like i was a brand new person - as cliche as it may sound. i find myself smiling a lot, i radiated so much positivity in life despite the pandemic. you made me feel like i was on top of the world - another cliche, but it was real.

only until i found out that you were with someone else. someone who you truly love and care about. i tried to go my distance until i couldn’t help but reached out to you again.

i can not overstate how happy i was to reconnect with you. at first, i was all in denial that this is another season of a faux relationship but it wasnt. we spend a lot of time making up with the lost time we had and it was magical. i liked how you called me a LOT. i liked how you leave me a LOT of messages. i liked how you randomly tell me you love me. it made my day the best days everrr. i liked how you send me selfies to reassure me that you weren’t with anybody else. i liked how you send me random bike photos. i liked how safe i felt only until you changed your profile picture with a photo of you and the woman you truly love.

it was one hell of an experience being with you. and i would trade half of my life if it means being able to spend some more time with you. i guess the line from a song is true - “i miss the man i was with you.” i miss being the jessica i was when you were around. i miss having you around, to be honest. you are my strongest form of serotonin. you have no idea. ✨

hurtful insults have been said, and i am pretty sure you don’t want to do anything with me anymore. and i feel extremely sad about it. i feel like i lost someone, whom i care for dearly.

i hope wherever you are in this world, know that i will always love you. even if you choose different women over me. i am a fool for you. if you could only see and allow me to show you how much you mean to me, you won’t have to suffer trying to figure how to get your life together. cos i will be with you. i will go through life with you. and support you. and just love you for who you are.

UM Interview: Preston C Howell

South Florida native Preston C Howell has a big heart and a lush, agile voice that demonstrates effortless beauty. Inspired by his father who was the first person to introduce him to music, Howell took his love of music and shared it with the worldwide stage. The South Florida Native was part of Season 17 of NBC’s television show,The Voice where he was mentored by iconic soul artist John Legend. Following his experience on the show, Preston joined nationally-renowned “Acapop! KIDS,” an elite group of talented youth singers formed by Grammy-award winning Pentatonix creators Scott Hoying and Ben Bram. On June 19th, Preston released his new single “Supply and Demand” as part of the Leave on the Light campaign, to bring awareness towards mental health among teens.

Amandah Opoku sat down with Preston to talk about his new single “Supply and Demand”, his experience on The Voice and more!

Amandah Opoku: Hi Preston, thank you for doing this interview with UMusicians! What is one new song you’ve discovered in the last few months that you love! Preston C Howell: Homeage, that song takes me to another world and I love songs that I can just vibe with.

AO: What inspired you to pursue a career as an artist? PCH: My dad was the first person in my life to inspire me since he loves singing so much and I grew up listening and copying him. When my mom realized I could sing she put me in classes for musical theatre and dance. The more experience I had, the more opportunities I got and ultimately it was my time on the VOICE that made it clear I didn’t want to do anything else.

AO: Who would you say inspires you musically? PCH: For a long time it was the classic guys, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis I love their music. In today’s time I am definitely inspired by artist like John Legend, Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber and can only wish to someday have the same platform to share my music.

AO: You were a contestant on Season 17 of NBC’s The Voice with John Legend as your mentor. Why did you decide to try out for the show? PCH: It’s always been a family favorite to watch. I always love new experiences and when I was old enough and they were doing an open call in Miami (which is where I am from) I decided to audition even if it was just for the experience

AO: What did you take away from your experience on The Voice and how has it prepared you as you pursue your career in music? PCH: Because I love all kinds of music, while on the show, I was still figuring out exactly what genre I wanted to pursue. The Voice showed me all the possibilities and made me realize some of the things I needed to do to make a music career a possibility.

AO: While you were on The Voice being mentored by John Legend, what is one piece of advice that you were given that you’ve taken away? PCH: To connect to the song more. I have always focused on performing and making sure I sounded “good” he helped me focus on understanding the lyrics I was singing and personalizing with the song

AO: “Supply and Demand” is your new single which was released on June 19th. What inspired the song? PCH: I was inspired to sing the song when the songwriter Bcuz asked me to be the face of the campaign Leave on the Light. He wrote the song during a very hard time in his life while he was living in his car. He has been open about his mental health struggles and the lyrics are meant to reach out to anyone who may feel alone and to show them that we all need love and we all have it to give.

AO: What was the writing and recording process like for “Supply and Demand”? PCH: From what bcuz, the writer, has told me the main part of the song was actually written at a stoplight in Pompano Beach Florida. He had been living out of his car for 2 years and actually had an entire studio built into his car so that he could record. He was driving and the melody just came to him. It’s quite amazing. He was working, but had a goal to save up enough money so that he could push out this campaign to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. As far as the recording of the song, we spent the day in a studio in Miami (AudioVision Studios) and what was awesome is Bcuz and the producer Meggastan wanted me to make the song my own. I loved the vibe already, but it was great to be able to input my ideas.

AO: “Supply and Demand” is featured on a compilation album called ‘Leave On the Light’, named for and released by the eponymous movement for mental health awareness and teen suicide prevention. Why was it important for you to release the single in conjunction with this movement? PCH: I have many friends who have shared their struggles with mental health and just overall I know people who don’t always feel like they are enough. Music speaks volumes and connects with people so when I was given an opportunity to not only release my first single but also have it associated with true meaning and lyrics that could potentially save someones life, I knew this was a great project to get involved with.

AO: Apart from releasing music for your solo career, you are also part of “Acapop! KIDS” which was formed by Grammy-award winning Pentatonix creators, Scott Hoying and Ben Bram. How did you become a part of the group? I auditioned initially virtually and then in person. PCH: I love Pentatonix so when my mom and I received notice that the lead singer was forming a kids group and I was in the perfect age range, we both knew this was meant to be. Because my voice was already changed and on the lower range, I was cast as the bass of the group. I have been told it is very difficult to find a kid bass and it has been such an amazing learning experience to learn from the creative directors and arrangers Ben Bram and Shams Ahmed.

AO: As you pursue your music career as both a solo artist and with “Acapop! KIDS”, what would you say is the biggest challenge you faced? What have you found most rewarding? PCH: The most challenging for sure is always making sure to balance out my kid life with my music life. I don’t want to look back and regret missing out so my parents have been great about helping me stay balanced. The most rewarding is by far when I get to perform LIVE for audiences and to see their reactions and vibing to the music I really love that from the audience.

AO: For a new fan that may across your music on digital music platforms, what do you want them to take away from your music? PCH: I want them to get lost in the music and the lyrics and to feel overall loved and needed. I hope that this leaves them knowing they are enough and special.

AO: With “Supply and Demand” out on all digital platforms, what can we expect from you the rest of the year? PCH: I am slowly but surely working on writing my own music, but meanwhile continuing to explore and work with other songwriters.

date #2 of 2017

so i saw the 22 year old TA again from this story and it was actually one of the best dates i ever had. we spent a long time together so get ready for it lol

he planned on taking me to this cove right by the ocean to show me the night sky with all the stars and the moon in all their glory and he was obsessing over the sky being just perfect with minimal clouds

so i drive to his house n im not as nervous as i was from the first story. he invites me in and i sit in his kitchen as he makes a smoothie lmaooo it was actually kinda grody....spinach, kale, mango flavored fish oil, and blueberries was the combination. he got me to try it and i was lowkey disgusted and he laughed a lot at my reaction lol. i learned he was just casually reading a book of war poetry by WWI poets and i was like shit dude ur intelligent...

i told him i didn’t eat dinner and that i was gna eat mcdonalds (i remember from the last date that he didn’t enjoy mcdonalds) and he actually was down to go! as we drove on the way there we talked more music n stuff and he let me look at his music and i got to choose the songs!! he and i like the same shit! blink 182, the killers (my fav), flume, joywave, old fall out boy, etc. also come to find out he likes one of my FAV SONGS EVERRR (i actually found it on tumblr 23858 years ago here and i had never met anyone else who knew about the song). he and i sang it together n i felt so happy. he’s super into films and we bonded over how we liked the inclusion of alfred hitchcock’s psycho into the song.

so we eat our mcdonalds n blast music and we decide to watch bates motel (neither of us had seen it) because it related to psycho lol. he and i cuddled on the couch and after a couple of episodes we took a break and i actually MET HIS MOM????? his mom was pretty and very sweet. she asked me about myself and was very inviting and kind. i was so surprised to meet his mom..... and i was surprised by how comfortable i felt. it was a nice contrast from experiences with my ex in which i freaked out about meeting his family weeks in advance and i didn’t feel comfortable during the introductions when i finally met them.

at one point we ran out to his car and he drove to the cove but unfortunately it was so cloudy you couldn’t see anything. however, we did walk out a little bit to hear the ocean and i smiled up at the moon thanking the moon for being there for everything n for giving me these rly nice moments ill remember forever. i thanked the moon for sharing this contentment with me. he also showed me some of his fav places in the town growing up, mostly places he smoked weed lmao

when we got back to his house, we kept watching bates motel and honestly he reminds me of freddie highmore from bates motel bc they’re both a lil quirky and nerdy and totally dorky. he even mentioned how he is like freddie highmore “when it comes to things like this” right before he turned my head to kiss me :) then we just started making out and at one point he just laid his head down on me as i was stroking his hair and rubbing his back and it was genuinely one of the most calming experiences ever. he told me my hair smells good and i confessed that he smells good everywhere lol. i apologized for blue balling him at one point and he told me it was totally fine and didn’t make me feel bad about being on my period. he told me he was falling asleep on me and so we ended up going up to his bedroom. he gave me an oversized t shirt he brought back from college with the word "fargo” (the capital of north dakota) on it, the place his mom his from.

up in his bedroom we cuddle, and i notice how neatly i fit into his arms and intertwined with his body. it’s not uncomfortable, it’s not too hot, our bones don’t hurt each other, and our breathing is in sync. our heartbeats are straight up the same rate. he smells really good too. he smells like a home. we started making out more and for a second time i apologized for blue balling him. he told me not to worry about it because he knew there was a chance we wouldn’t have sex and he was okay with it bc he still wanted to hang out with me. we talked a lil in the dark (where i feel the most safest) and we talked about our relationships with our parents and our families and our struggles as divorced kids.

in the morning at 7:30, i noticed he got up and left and didn’t come back to bed. i rolled over and he had left me a note on his pillow next to me apologizing about the indigestion he got from the blueberries from his smoothie the night before. he wrote “feel free to wake me up if you rise before me” LOL. it was cute. i wanted to spend more time with him, so i headed down to his basement where he was sleeping on the couch. i asked him if he had to get up at a certain time in the morning and he said no, so i ended up canceling my work, lying about a car problem. he welcomed me on the couch, tucking me in under the covers, but 2 minutes later i told him he could come back up to bed.

we cuddled more in bed, i didn’t really let him sleep lol and we talked more. he asked me about my favorite books and we talked about our friends and china and just random topics. we stayed in bed for 3 more hours haha :) we made out a couple more times too and he told me he likes my icy cold feet. he keeps me warm n i smile a lot when im with him :) i felt super comfortable with him, we were able to banter. at one point i said “i like hanging out with you” really softly and he went “what?” and i repeated it just a bit louder and he said “what?” again but then said “im kidding, i like hanging out with you too” and i got pretend mad at him by turning my back to him and telling him he’s an asshole and it was cute. he told me we fit together like puzzle pieces and i was like wow is he a real human being???? this is so random but i taught him a lil about periods (he’s an only child n never learned about these things)

fast forward, we go to a diner that i had always wanted to go to! and he pays! wow! we talk about random shit like fav movies and school and food. i dared him to eat an entire gob of botter and to chug the small glass of maple syrup; both of which he did, and i gagged each time. we also went to whole foods (my first time going) and he bought me green tea and mango mochi! at one point it was so cold that i coughed all the powder from the mochi all over myself, my phone, and his car and he laughed so hard. on the drive back to his house, i asked if i could play a song, and i played one of my fav songs, lonely lullabies by kweku collins, and he said he really liked it ahhh!!

before we parted ways, he kissed me briefly and then hugged me (picking me up ugh). i made him promise that he wouldn’t watch bates motel without me. we pinky promised and he kisses the pinky which is something i do and it made me so happy :) then he texted me later saying “that was a whole lotta fun. we should do that again soon”

summary n notes: i like that he keeps his eyes closed when we kiss. he keeps them squeezed shut. i rly like him as a human being, he’s interesting and he’s interested in me ? confused. im kinda nervous bc our universities are 1.5 hours away from each other. his mom asked how far away our schools were when we met and he randomly asked me if i had a car at college. i rly rly do like him but i dont know what he wants or what i even want. also back at college i have a fwb that i get along with rly well as a person n this sounds so selfish but i don’t want to cut my fwb out of my life either. i have only one more week of break so i hope i see him again :)
