I end up in the cafeteria, staring at nothing. Mastication is the first step of eating. After getting food. After bringing it to your mouth. After the food has leapt into your hands, you can bring it up to your teeth full of cracks and holes, and you can fill them with pulverized chicken and rice and assorted steamed vegetables. And you swallow. And you’ll do this until you die, whether that’s in three, five weeks, or when you’re seventy-eight. Four days or so, if you don’t drink water. I wonder if Tyler has water, locked in the cage of my mind. I wonder if hallucinations need food, or if there’s some other sort of nourishment he needs. That I haven’t been managing to give him. Maybe Tyler was onto something, walking around feeling like a bigger dick than God himself.

That night, I sleep like the dead, and I dream of it, too. The movie set of Paper Street yawns above us. I’ve got Tyler in my hands, his hair tight between my fingers as I fuck his throat. hi! i need to get something off my chest, like in shadowhunter world both tv and books, books is my favourite not because i hate tv characters (bc teh emotional vulnerability was very well done there- i literally it was so hard to wait for my school to get over so i could watch the show) but bc books is the original stuff which i fell in love with for teh first time, also why though all teh series are really good in shadow world but tmi holds a special place in my heart (no matter how imperfect it is in certain places) which i think also translates into my love for book!malec more than show!malec. I think the only long show!malec fic i read was yours that you made about detective alec and lawyer magnus, but that was bc i love your writing and stories (i love the book!malec and mavid ones more sorry !! but i cant david is an original character but i love him so much, sry got sidetracked) tbh i also felt that the next malec fic would be show malec bc i cant (even tho i have read the lmlt i think it was named.. one of teh first long fics you wrote which had asmodeus and alec relation) imagine book alec having a relationship with asmodeus which is even remotely decent. but show malec have always been more softer and more communicative about their vulnerabilities. No, I think this is fair. You're allowed to have a preference. I like book malec better too - simply because there is more to their characters and I usually prefer book versions anyway.

Regarding the fic, first things first, you can imagine them however you want! I know for a fact not everyone who read TLND imagined Alec as Sebastian Stan (I will stand by this casting!!). But it's how I, as the writer, imagined it. My castings are simply for me - to be very honest. I pick faces and people who help me visualize my characters better. But that does not mean you have to do it too. I'm sure people on ao3 who read my fics but don't follow me tumblr have no idea about any of these castings. So, yeah. You can imagine them however you want.

I also want to note, since I got another ask about this as well, that the casting I choose doesn't really affect the personality and behavior of the characters. It's the other way around really. Sure in the show Alec doesn't have blue eyes and Magnus is shorter, but those (among a few other differences) are completely irrelevant to this fic. If someone is put off by Magnus being shorter (in my fic, I mean) then that's their problem. It's such a mundane detail (for me) and I'm not going to be mentioning the colour of their eyes and their height every five seconds. This fic is rather different so I doubt it'd be mentioned at all (considering it's alec pov too - if you notice he is the kind of character where i don't write a lot of descriptions for the people he interacts with because Alec doesn't care about that a lot)

But yeah. It really shouldn't matter. At least I hope not <3

yeah im not posting the entire fic under the readmore , im not prepared to spend another two hours of trial-and-error on formatting. anyway i have so much to say about digisurvive but im unfortunately not the type to talk about stuff unprompted until im much more confident n comfortable. instead i'll talk about the First Ficwriting Experience Since 2016

ive seen all four endings but i havent done what im calling my Victory Lap playthrough yet. what i mean by Victory Lap is that i got my guys at lvl 80+ and the only real purpose of going thru it all again is to see any early-game missed dialogue and take unnecessarily-meticulous character notes

im not about to claim to be a Blorbo Expert w a PhD or anything but i think ive got a pretty solid understanding of the bulk of the characters and can manage a pretty accurate portrayal . shuuji and ryo are definitely the easiest characters for me to write , and im anticipating that the same will be true for kaito. i cant say for certain tho since i havent explored his voice much yet but im more or less confident that i can do a good job

at first i was like oh god oh fuck i cant write aoi but i thought about it for 2 seconds and it turns out that uhhhhhhhh i was a lot like her when i was a teenager. the insecurities are exactly the same, it is so horrifyingly uncanny. so for me, saki is the one that i find the most difficult to characterize and i love that because it seems so deliberate. this girl DOES NOT want you to perceive her and is doing her best to ensure that you do not notice that she has anything to hide. if you are good at writing saki, i have a lot of respect for your tremendous power

but thankfully sakis presence in this is minimal so i dont have to worry about that just yet. what i AM worried about are my formatting choices. i think theres a lot of potential in fucking around with indentation, typeface, and text placement, so im taking a swing at trying to push it further than i have before. i think it can serve so well to imply when something is happening, what else is happening at the same time, and how it makes the characters feel without having to outright say so. i dont want it looking like a geronimo stilton book tho so i gotta learn to strike a balance lmao

SO much of the way i enjoy character portrayal comes from tone and nonverbal communication, especially really subtle stuff like eye movement and body language. i think it can be so challenging to write that stuff in a way that doesn't feel clunky or encumber the pacing. the thing im practicing right now is saying stuff without saying it, and also trying to improve my imagery & symbolic language. im having a lot of fun with it

Ooo I’m glad you’re excited! I’m really sorry about the wait, I feel really bad, I know it would frustrate me too 😭. I’m a slow writer and the posting schedule I have in place right now will allow me to get as many chapters written in the next arc before the part 13 is posted (so only a small intermission is needed before part 14 is released), plus allow me to catch up on fics I’ve put aside to get the parts for this series done! I’d totally do a weekly schedule if the series was completed, but there’s still a lot left to go, and hopefully this will allow you to enjoy the series longer so I’m not just leaving you guys on a hiatus for a while. The chapters are all pretty long so I’m hoping there’s enough to hold you over before the next part gets posted about 15 days later. I will say that the schedule might change following the release of part 13 since the chapters will move to being a little more consistently shorter, so we might get into more parts coming out a little more often. Again, sorry for the wait, but hopefully it’ll pay off next year and maybe I might could switch to weekly depending on how many chapters I get done :D

It was kind of a challenge to turn it into a fic, as far as I know, no one haven't done it in stayblr so I took my chance. I thought it was going to be cringey, really but I'm glad that everyone like it.

tbh I have a really hard time writing twinsduo sometimes so I'm very glad you like their dynamic lol. it's mostly that in general, techno is the most difficult one out of sbi for me to write, so twinsduo is always a bit of a struggle. but I definitely had a lot of fun writing their conversation in this latest chapter

crimeboys were being SO brotherly in this chapter I love them sm

phil has not overheard tommy saying wilbur's name at all, but yes he has noticed tommy cutting himself off a few times. that and also he just knows that if anyone in the temple knows the pythia's name, it's obviously gonna be tommy, so he was kind of just guessing there too and got lucky

god that was literally such a tattling little brother moment but for a very serious situation

besties aeduo acting as dad/uncle respectively to crimeboys is literally my favorite way to write sbi it's the superior dynamic. I especially love writing aeduo's dynamic with each other when they're not father and son but just best friends who understand each other in a way no one else really can. it's just the implicit trust and the constant understanding and the unquestioning loyalty rahhhh if I didn't struggle so hard with writing techno I would probably write way more aeduo stuff but alas-

Okay finally had a chance to read chapter 12 and oh my goddddddddddddd I have so many feelings and was losing my mind the entire time but my highlights are

- Daphne and E is my favorite dynamic in every SDMI fanfic and this is no exception😭 the “she’s Daphne of course she found the exact shirt in the right size” is what gets me

- “This isn’t what I wanted! I wanted you on my side- at my side!” “You should have thought of that before you cursed me to live in a world without her in it.” OP?? OP YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME-

Personally, I think the scene where Arthur just OBLITERATES Pericles, Brad, and Judy has gotten such positive feedback because it fulfills this desire we’ve had ever since we saw the show to stand up for Mr. E and tell Pericles EXACTLY what we think of him and what he’s doing. And I’m having Arthur do it basically on the entire fandom’s behalf. 😂

And yes - I’m VERY proud of those last couple lines of that scene. They’ve been in my brain for such a long time and I was so happy to finally write them down and share them!
