I have been devouring and frothing over every snippet and ask pertaining to your Ruination au and how it has dragged me out of an art slump so definite fanart warning ahead, but more than that it's had me considering a truly horrific headcanon with Lucerys and Cannibal bonding. Consider with Cannibal now being ridden and directed into battle, this old dragon gets a new taste and craving the first time Lucerys takes on another dragon rider (that isn't Aemond yet) and Cannibal gets a taste of a bonded rider and dragon combo and it awakens an even deeper hunger in it that feeds into the bond with Luke and twists his need for revenge against Aemond even more, to make him suffer the loss of Vhagar.

Oh yes yes yes, this just made me think of how Cannibal would react to Lucerys’ feelings towards Aemond and Vhagar.

Like, Cannibal is having the time of his life when it comes to the battles. He gets to fight other dragons, he gets to eat people, and he gets to watch his tiny human grow into a terrifying creature in his own right. It’s great. He’s as close to delighted as a dragon can be.

But the first time they’re confronted with Aemond and Vhagar on the battlefield? Oh boy, it’s the first time Lucerys is the one influencing Cannibal.

The surge of anger. The need for revenge. It’s immediate and overpowering and to an animal like Cannibal, it brands this one as an opponent that’s special.

Cannibal grows to anticipate Vhagar’s presence because she’s a challenge and more than his equal when it comes to a fight.

(Also, any and all art will immediately make me cry from joy. The story ain’t even written yet and I’m already overwhelmed by the love you guys are showing it 💕💕)

like it was genuinely the most badass line in the sab trilogy and it would not have been difficult to add it to the scene with the queen. sure, it wouldn't have had the same effect as it did in the books with the king but it would've still been there

they managed to add the "i will have you without your armour, kaz brekker, or i will not have you at all" line (don't get me wrong, it's absolutely one of my favourite lines in the entirety of the grishaverse) which doesn't happen chronologically for some time yet, but not genya's downright iconic way of saying 'fuck you' to the people that abused her?

Ahh, see, you think he would - and even Aemond talks a good game of wanting to kill Lucerys in the beginning. But those two weeks he spent thinking he actually had were some of the worst in his life. He never thought he'd ever really succeed in doing it - and he never thought about the consequences of what killing his nephew would do to him.

The quiet grief and mind-numbing ache he endured during that time will haunt him forever.

Finding out Lucerys is still alive and is definitely gunning for him reignites Aemond's spirit. He was completely lost when he thought Lucerys dead by his actions. Now he chases the rush he feels when he encounters his nephew.

It's branded across his soul. He never wants to lose Lucerys again, but like hell will he leave the boy alone. He needs Lucerys, needs to fight and throw himself against him, again and again and again because it's the only way he feels alive anymore.
