1. Of all the dead characters who would you see resurected (lets pretend its possible) and why
2. Who would win in a fight, Cora or Apollo 🤣
I want Hugh! Don't get me wrong, Em would be nice to have back, and Philippe, but I want to see Hugh. See the dynamic between him and Fernando, and Gallowglass, his little family. I want to see his relationship with his siblings, especially Matthew and Baldwin, and I want to see him be an amazing uncle! I can see him and Miyako being close. And I want him to take over from Baldwin, so my baby can have a fucking break 😅
2. As much as I love Apollo, he's a hippogriff, while I think he could do some damage, Cora is a firedrake and could probably toast him (please don't, darling). I also think their powers/strength is linked to their witch's powers/strength. So since Diana is more powerful than her toddler, I'm going with Cora winning in a fight 😅

Okay HC? Im not sure
But De Clermont reactions to finding out the Earth is not flat 😂
I feel Gallowglass new long before they others? Just because he absolutely loves sailing and will have been all over the world, and noticed that he in fact did not tip over the edge.
The "Ancient ones" (meaning the Greeks and Romans (not 100% sure where Stasia and Hugh are from, but they're ancient at least)) in the family, that being Philippe and his eldest three children, Hugh, Stasia and Baldwin, knew a long time too that the earth was in fact round, in my opinion. "By around 500 B.C., most ancient Greeks believed that Earth was round, not flat. But they had no idea how big the planet is until about 240 B.C., when Eratosthenes devised a clever method of estimating its circumference." (source: https://www.aps.org/publications/apsnews/200606/history.cfm )
But no matter who they are, how long they've lived and all that, I think for anyone as old as they are, it will be somewhat of a shock when they found out that the myths had been wrong all along about it being flat.
I can see our beloved scientist, Matthew, looking through a telescope for the first time seeing round planets all around. Or when he saw the first satellite images of the earth (back in 1959.)

Welcome to Letters2fiction!
The concept here is to send in a question or a letter request, and you’ll get a response from your fictional character of choice, from the list below. Please stick to the list I’ve made, but of course, you can ask if there’s some other characters I write for, I don’t always remember all the shows, movies or books I’ve consumed over the years and I’m sure I’m missing a lot 😅

was reading the list of excommunications up to the 16th cent the other night and:
Philip first married Bertha of Holland in 1072.[5] Although the marriage produced the necessary heir, Philip fell in love with Bertrade de Montfort, the wife of Fulk IV, Count of Anjou. He repudiated Bertha (claiming she was too fat) and married Bertrade on 15 May 1092.[6] In 1094 following the synod of Autun, he was excommunicated by the papal representative, Hugh of Die, for the first time;[7] after a long silence, Pope Urban II repeated the excommunication at the Council of Clermont in November 1095.
funny to me for a number of reasons, given that 1) this is how many discuss henry viii and the GM, even tho this is not what happened, at all, 2) just like...idk. like, i get it, his first wife has had her life adapted and dramatized so much more than this woman, that's why people have more of an emotional connection to her, but she is hardly the only woman to have been repudiated by her royal husband in history, preceding and after, and she's spoken of as if she was.

Part Fourty-Four
Summary:  Baldwin Montclair had a string of ex girlfriends, a single child, and a  lifetime longer than most people could dream of to make all kinds of  mistakes. His family knew one which kept coming out of the woodwork to  irritate him every other century
Also on AO3
It was cold in the chapel.
Weak sunlight filtered through the windows, contrasting with the torches in sconces on the walls to deepen the shadows between them. In the gloom, Martin sat with his back to the wall, torc in hand.
"-that God has so few friends; if that is the way he favours them, he ought to have still less."
Martin's laughter echoed back to himself. Across from him, on the opposite wall, Hugh's shield, armour and sword rested on a metal frame Matthew had sunk into the stone floor. The plaque beside it read
In Memoriam
Hugh de Clermont
Beloved Son
'I hope you like the flowers' said Martin. Carnations and forget-me-nots wreathed Hugh's shield and gauntlets; a reference to Fernando masked by double meaning. Underneath the real ones flowers made from iron held the figure up, like vines grasping each piece of the mannequin together.
It had been Martin's gift to Fernando, and one that had received a chilling response from Philippe until his need to grieve his son had outpaced his dislike for his son's choice of mate and he had let the matter go.
'Well!' Martin rocked up onto his feet, stretching. 'I had best walk to the main gate. Your father is throwing a party for no particular reason again and he will be ushering guests in shortly.'
The cold breeze that started from nowhere as he turned to leave felt like hands pressing gently on his back. Martin gave a small smile, and walked outside.
________________________________________________________________
'Lucius!'
'Still Baldwin.'
Baldwin chuckled affectionately as Martin shrugged.
Beautiful. Like music.
He went to sit on the bench next to Baldwin, who shuffled over to give him space.
'Have you been up to anything new of late?'
Baldwin shook his head. 'Much the same as ever, I am afraid.'
'You need a hobby,' said Martin, observing Baldwin over the rim of the tankard a passing serving girl had rushed over and placed in front of him. 'You know, I think you should get into finance.'
'Yes, the mighty desk warrior; earning honour and glory through paperwork.' Baldwin sneered.
Martin grinned, nursing the tankard and leaning forward.
'Let me tell you the story of the king from Mali with the Midas' touch...'
________________________________________________________________
Philippe had toured the room twice, mingling and talking with visitors and locals. When he made it back to the high table again he was annoyed to see Baldwin still sitting at the edge of the room, listening to Martin rambling on.
He had specifically requested one or two individuals be here today so Baldwin could gently persuade them to follow Philippe's plans.
Now that he had a moment to properly observe his son, Philippe could tell Baldwin was listening to Martin. Really listening. He was staring at him with a focus that Philippe hadn't seen before; there was a warmth in his gaze that went beyond fondness, and a slight suggestion that he could start smiling at any moment.
Oh.
Oh no.
A millennia of willpower was the only thing which stoppered the scream of white-hot fury clawing up Phillipe’s throat. He ground his teeth and hissed.
His boy, his second son, mating with a thrice-damned nuisance?!
Gaul.
Patricide.
Insipid meddler.
‘Somebody has caught up with the rest of us it would seem,’ Marthe muttered quietly as she passed by Philippe’s elbow. Ysabeau placed a hand on his to ground him and remind him where they were, and he let out a long, long breath.
‘All of you knew?!’ Philippe hissed.
'If you confront them, they will deny it and end up hurting each other. It will be better to let them come to a conclusion on their own.' Ysabeau squeezed his hand, and Philippe, reluctantly, squeezed hers back.
Author's Notes
The joke that Martin tells was recorded in Facetiae, a collection of jokes published in 1470, written by Poggio Bracciolini. This chapter takes place circa 1324, so the joke is not era-accurate, but I couldn't find one from the 1300s.
The full joke:
"One of our fellow citizens, a very witty man, was labouring under a painful and lengthy illness, was attended by a Friar who came to comfort him, and, among other words of solace, told him that God thus especially chastens those he loves, and inflicts his visitations upon them. “No wonder then,” retorted the sick man, “that God has so few friends; if that is the way he favours them, he ought to have still less.”" (Medievalists.net)
Canonically Matthew made a shrine to Hugh in the chapel of Sept Tours out of Hugh’s shield, gauntlets, hauberk, coat of plates, sword and helm. We see a plaque on the wall in the show, so I incorporated both.
Oh the screaming. The screaming that occured when Philippe found out about what Martin had made. Matthew was, is, and will probably still be on his father's shit list for the next few centuries for keeping Martin's gift a secret from him. But in the end the entire family banded together and told Philippe to "build a fucking bridge, we want to mourn our brother/son/father/significant other" and it's a reference to Hugh's home in Spain*, so what's the big deal?
*Fernando and Gallowglass nearly broke Martin's ribs hugging him.
Carnations are the national flower of Spain.
I think that it takes a lot of energy for a ghost to materialise into corporeal form. Vampires and daemons cannot see ghosts immediately but they can feel their touch; witches can, of course, see ghosts in full whether or not they are actively trying to be seen.

The Children of Philippe de Clermont
The de Clermonts are an ancient vampiric bloodline that had ruled over Western Europe, playing an integral role in its shaping. Philippe de Clermont sired many children, all of them serving a purpose. They were intelligent, sharp and dangerous.

Film Awards Season Check-In
In early October the field was looking light as only three studios released their screening schedules early: Amazon, Netflix and Searchlight. Now that we are in early November more studios have entered the fray and/or readying their boards.
Sony is putting forth THE WOMAN KING, DEVOTION, the Whitney Houston biopic I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY, LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE, Tom Hanks' A MAN CALLED OTTO and WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING; and new to the mix Mark Wahlberg's FATHER STU.
So far THE WOMAN KING and DEVOTION have had a number of screenings with DEVOTION (based on the true story of the friendship between pilots played by Glen Powell (who is an executive producer on the film) and Jonathan Majors) getting special treatment with a screening hosted by Amanda Seyfried.
Sony's indie arm Sony Pictures Classic has put up the films they are pushing: documentaries: HALLELUJAH: LEONARD COHEN, A JOURNEY, A SONG; JAZZ FEST: A NEW ORLEANS STORY, Luca Guadagnino's SALVATORE: SHOEMAKER OF DREAMS, THE RETURN OF TANYA TUCKER, TURN EVERY PAGE- THE ADVENTURES OF ROBERT CARO AND ROBERT GOTTLIEB and narrative films, Florian Zeller's THE SON (which is connected to Zeller's THE FATHER, which earned Anthony Hopkins an Oscar) starring Hugh Jackman; two Cannes screened films: RETURN TO SEOUL and ONE FINE MORNING and the English-language remake of Akira Kurusawa's IKIRU - LIVING starring Bill Nighy
When TOP GUN: MAVERICK screened at CinemaCon a few critics in attendance said it was a Best Picture candidate and I guess Paramount feels the same as TG:M and Damian Chazelle's LALA LAND follow-up BABYLON are the only films they are putting forward. IIRC this is a one-picture improvement over 2019 as that year ROCKETMAN was the only film they put forward. TG:M has quite a few screenings lined up (with no Q&A component so far because Tom Cruise isn't going to beg for a nomination) with zero, as of yet, for BABYLON.
Focus Features has put up ARMAGEDDON TIME starring Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong, DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA, HONK FOR JESUS. SAVE YOUR SOUL (which had a brief theatrical release while streaming on Peacock), MRS. HARRIS GOES TO PARIS, THE NORTHMAN (with alleged new father or soon-to-be-father Alexander Skarsgaard), the fantastic THE OUTFIT, THE SILENT TWINS starring Letitia Wright and Tamara Lawrance, YOU WON'T BE ALONE and TAR with Cate Blanchett who is sure to be the front runner in the Lead Actress category.
Universal has released the titles they are putting forward: Steven Spielberg's film a'clef THE FABLEMANS, the true story of the women who crafted the article to expose Harvey Weinstein, the Carey Mulligan starrer SHE SAID, NOPE, BROS and animated films MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU, PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH and THE BAD GUYS.
Disney had their slate up for some time but have only just recently added James Cameron's AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER and Rihanna's offering for WAKANDA FOREVER, "Lift Me Up"; a song written by Rihanna, the film's director Ryan Coogler and film's composer Ludwig Göransson. "Lift Me Up" joins Giveon's "Time" from AMSTERDAM as the possible Best Song candidates the studio has put forward.
WB's schedule has been static with six films put forward (THE BATMAN, DON'T WORRY DARLING, FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE SECRETS OF DUMBLEDORE, the documentary NAVALNY, DC LEAGUE OF SUPERPETS and ELVIS). The only movement is that they keep adding Q&As for Austin Butler. They're working him like Colonel Parker did Elvis.

The Wonder
-A late addition to their slate is Scott Cooper's THE PALE BLUE EYES; the directors third film with Christian Bale. Disney has AMSTERDAM up as part of 20th Century and are putting Bale and his costars but it appears Bale is stumping for this instead, with a Q&A with Cooper and his costars Lucy Boynton and Henry Melling this week.
