#I am struggling so hard to pinpoint where the lines are in discussions of situations like the franke and hildebrandt behaviors#because like ok#people keep being so outraged and angry and baffled that they viewed the kids as#deliberately willful and disobedient#and then transitioned into believing them to be infected with evil and or influenced or possessed by demons or under satanic influence#and that’s where everyone is like HOW COULD THEY THINK THIS HOW COULD THEY TELL THEM THAT HOW COULD THEY ETC ETC#and that’s where everyone loses me#like yeah. of course it’s wrong. of course it’s damaging and shitty. but like. what in the world is everyone so shocked and upset by#about that concept (not the physical abuse it caused obviously)#how are you shocked. how are you shocked? it’s just the logical conclusion of believing children have disobedient evil wills#like if you assume evil you’re only going to escalate from there. OBVIOUSLY#I don’t understand how it’s different#where do things cross these lines? no one explains that to me#normal life as usual while tons of kids including me spend years or decades believing we’re evil and under stubborn satanic influence#but in one of the rare situations where it rises to public awareness suddenly everyone is shitting bricks over it#I want those kids drowned in love forever and I wish it never happened to them and their situation#was definitely so so so extreme and severe and I am so glad R was so brave and desperate and got them out#but like. how is everyone so shocked#this is standard. this is common. there’s a huge subculture of people doing and believing this shit#like why is it different just because this case is so visible#so like how is it so hard for people to grasp that this is a widespread issue#I don’t understand#of COURSE it’s wrong to do to someone but like#so many parents and adults do so many of the things these two did just less#fewer hours. less intensely. not in a desert. not with handcuffs and shit. etc.#where’s the line legally? where’s the line culturally?#like how am I supposed to grasp that it’s not a problem until it’s at some level that#I know it’s all Bad but I mean in terms of when the populace starts to mass-care

Kiss your Genshin best friend to see his reaction
Summary: You’ve been best friends for a whilenow, and you definitely have those little feelings of maybe wanting to be more but you just don’t know how to convey it. So you take a leap of faith, put a hand on his cheek, and give him a peck on the lips. Something you’ve never done before. Hey, actions speak louder than words, right...?
Characters: Aether, Albedo, Alhaitham, Ayato, Bennett, Chongyun, Cyno,  Dainsleif, Diluc, Gorou, Itto, Kaeya, Kaveh, Kazuha, Lyney, Neuvillette, Razor, Scaramouche, Tartaglia, Thoma, Venti, Xiao, Xingqiu, Zhongli, gn!reader
Warnings: inspired by an old tiktok trend even though I don’t have tiktok cause it’s banned in my country, lol but it was also a request by an anon, not proofread
Aether
Stunned does not even describe the entirety of it
He’s speechless and staring at you for a good five seconds before his brain starts to work again
“Wait, what was--” touches his lips to try and recall if that really happened or if he was trippin’
“Wait, hold on,” starts laughing at you and grabs at your wrist.
Proceeds to stare at you for another 5 seconds to process the information overload.
“Would you...wanna try that again?” with a loopy yet unsure grin
Albedo
Blinks once and leans back, away from you.
The surprised expression only crosses his face for a second.
He’s trying to logically piece together things and not jump to conclusions cause that’s just not him.
“...Did you, make a mistake?” When you shake your head no he grabs your hand and pulls you closer up against him.
You’d think he’d be more subtle but he might have been waiting for that for just as long as you were.
“Just making sure...before I experiment on your lips again,”
Alhaitham
has a blank look on his face. You can’t tell what he’s thinking (then again, you never can).
closes his book, leans forward to grab your hand and to pull you closer. He’s staring holes into you now.
“W-What?” You stutter, still feeling flustered by your own actions.
He makes you look at him by tilting your chin up, but gently, and his eyes narrow at you.
“...If you're against this, now's the time to speak up," as he leans closer just an inch from your lips, gauging your response, his breath hot on you.
But he doesn’t give you time to respond and gives you a kiss more passionate than you expected.
He got his answer when you kissed back.
Ayato
arm latches on around your waist before you can even pull back and turns the quick peck into a full kiss.
He doesn’t half-ass anything and is even bold enough to pepper kisses down your jaw.
You’re a little overwhelmed at his response, not expecting it to be this positive.
“Hm?” chuckles. “I’m only giving you what you asked for. One is hardly enough, no?”
Bennett
Has the “?!?!” expression
Simply half confused half shocked
Frozen in both fear and nervousness.
Cannot help but replay the kiss a thousand times in his head before he stutters out
“Y-Y-Y/N?!” and doesn’t even know what to say
Goes red
“T-T-That was a kiss, right?” You nod and he goes even redder if possible
Can’t comprehend it and straight up asks you why you did it. Your attempt at being obvious has failed.
It’s not that he doesn’t like you, he simply just can’t believe it.
Chongyun
just dies. pray for him.
A bit like Bennet but more of a “!!!!!!” reaction and immediately goes red without any prompting.
Has to turn away and calm himself though you can still see his red ears.
You ask him a moment later if he’s okay
“F-F-Fine! I’m...extremely pleased!” Then turns around when he realizes what he said and waves his hands to try and explain. “I-I mean, you don’t have to do it again! I’m just--”
Decides shutting up would be a better option and keeps his mouth closed while his eyes are tacked on to the ground.
Cyno
silently flustered. feels heat on his cheeks but just stares at you for a moment. Then turns away from you to gather his thoughts. The type of guy who looks tough but has “Y/N kissed me” running 800 times in his mind just to process it.
Coughs into his hand and clears his throat before turning back towards you. You’re starting to think you’re going to be rejected.
“Did you...Was that a mistake?” he just wants to be cautious.
You tell him it wasn’t and he feels embarrassed all over again.
This time just rubs his neck and looks at the ground before suggesting quietly “...We can try and make it longer next time,”
Dainsleif
At the first touch of your lips, not even 1 second in he recoils his head back and looks at you with eyes that are a fraction wider
It makes you think that he didn’t like it, since his averse reaction was so fast.
In reality he just doesn’t wanna cross a line that the two of you can’t undo but you take it the wrong way and apologize to him.
He snatches your wrist in a split second, “Don’t apologize. I just...” his eyes wander over to your lips and you see him gulp.
“I just want to make sure this is what you really want...” he says this while learning forward, just waiting for you to be the one to connect the two of you again.
Diluc
Does not even realize that the moment you lean in he ALSO leans forward and welcomes your lips.
Also does not realize that his hand has comfortably placed itself on your hip.
Kiss lasts longer than you intended and when the two of you finally pull back there’s astonishment in his eyes, but the good kind. The type where he’s taken aback by how good and right that felt.
He doesn’t withdraw his hand on your hip but he does cough into his hand and avert his eyes for a moment.
“...That was...rather unexpected...No, I’m not displeased at all...” he explains himself, gets the courage to finally look at you again and breathes out a question, his lips look more luscious than usual but so do yours, in his perspective “May I...once again?”
Gorou
Tail freezes, ears perk up.
His eyes don’t even close and he’s stunned, hand half up about to cover his lips but he seemed to have malfunctioned.
“Y-Y-Y-You can’t just--!!”
There’s so many random things running through his mind:
Did you eat dango for a snack? Cause your lips sure tasted sweet.
How are they so soft? Sure he’s stared at you a couple of times but he didn’t think your lips would be THAT soft.
How is he still alive? He feels as if he’s been sent to heaven already.
Snaps out of all his thoughts by shaking his head, tries to keep a straight face. “W-Warn me next time!”
but his tail is uncontrollably wagging.
Itto
Possibly the one with the most wide-eyed and dumbfounded reaction.
Speechless but savors the taste of your lips.
When he finally comprehends what happens (took you some hand waving in front of his face), he grabs you by the waist and pulls you in for another one. Head dipping confidently, no questions asked and just goes for it.
“W-Wow! Uh...I mean! Didn’t know you were such a good kisser! W-Well. Actually! I can’t really be sure, we gotta try that again and see!”
Eager and oh so ready. Like he found a new hobby.
Will pounce on you if he has the chance.
Kaeya
Sees it coming before it even happens and welcomes it. It’s like he was practicing for it his whole life.
Immediately has his hand pressed against the back of your head to deepen the kiss and lean closer to you.
It definitely lasts for longer than you thought it would.
He pulls back with a grin but doesn’t let you go.
His whisper sends shivers down your spine and he runs a finger under your chin to tip it up “You know this isn’t going to end with just one, right?”
Also the type that would pull you by the waist and he would fall back in bed while you topple on top of him.
Kaveh
Will have a dumbfounded/shocked/?!?!?!?!/wth expression on his face for a good 10 seconds before he starts functioning again. At which point you’re just about ready to turn around and run away from him.
“Wait! Where are you going?! You can’t just run away after that!”
You retort back that you don’t even know what else to do or say since he’s just gone silent.
“Well--I’m just--What do you expect me to say when you suddenly kiss me like that?!”
Is now covering his mouth but is also blushing and doesn’t know what to do.
“No! It’s not that I didn’t like it, I just...Does this mean what I think it means?”
You counter back with “Well what do you think it means?”
low key the two of you just go back and forth for a while cause you both are just too damn embarrassed about it.
Kazuha
It all seems so natural with this guy.
When he sees you coming in his hand rests on your cheek automatically and he receives the kiss gracefully.
The kiss doesn’t deepen, but you feel that he has urged you to lengthen it a little.
When the two of you pull apart it’s not a sudden jerk back, it’s a slow and only slight slide away.
He’s looking at you as if he’s seen the stars in the night sky for the very first time.
He doesn’t utter a word, but his look says it all and he dips down again for another kiss, just assuming that you’re alright with it.
Lyney
doesn’t let you pull away and makes the kiss longer. It’s like he was waiting for it to happen and was prepared.
Has a grin when he pulls back, one arm round your waist, unwilling to let you go.
“Hah, thought you had me there didn’t you?” winks and conjures up a rainbow rose from somewhere and presents it to you.
“Oh but my dear Y/N, I’m always one step ahead of you, remember that,” he teases and dips in to whisper in your ear.
“That’s how I know that you want another kiss, am I right?”
Neuvillette
Is frozen when you kiss him, and frozen for a second more when you pull away but quickly gains his composure back.
“Y/N...” he starts, as if trying to piece his words carefully. “I can only hope that you’re aware... I don’t offer affection to just anyone...”
There’s a brief silence and you tell him that you’re aware but he doesn’t seem to have processed your response and instead asks you another question.
“...Is it the same for you? Am I right to assume that this...kiss...isn’t because of just a sudden fleeting emotion...or a result of just impulse--”
You stop him midway and tell him it’s out of love.
He seems to again be frozen in thought, until he slowly bridges the gap between the two of you.
“...In that case perhaps we should try that again...I could taste more of nervousness than anything else, Y/N. Maybe a second time will seal it,”
just wants to kiss you again. properly.
Razor
Blinks. Processes. Blushes
Shy smile on his face but he’s a simple person who communicates better with actions so he kind of understands your intentions.
He moves forward to give you a quick peck on the cheek (that’s the only thing he’s brave enough for) as if returning the favor
then he turns around and pretends to be busy doing his own thing when in truth he has a flustered face on and is just trying to hide his giddiness from you.
Scaramouche
Grabs your wrists, both of them, and demands an answer. “The hell do you think you’re doing?”
He’s not scowling, but there’s a glare on his face and yet there’s a subtle shyness to it. Like you’ve offended him but he doesn’t want to show it.
“If you’re going to do that, you have to do it properly, you dumbass,”
Pulls on one of your wrists so that you’re nearly crashing towards him (just the way he likes it) and clumsily wraps his arms around you and kisses you.
He pretends he knows what he’s doing but has no idea and it’s probably also his first kiss.
Tartaglia
The one that chases after your lips with a laugh.
You kiss, you pull away, but his lips are following yours as you pull backward and it’s just so funny that the two of you can’t help but giggle.
But he always gets what he wants so he cups your face in his hands and gives you a proper kiss.
“Should’ve done it earlier, it’s hard just being your friend,” winks
Also one who will ask for another, and then another, and then another so you’ve gotta have your boundaries set, he’s so good at begging for more kisses too.
If he’s not satisfied and wants more, is also the type to trap you against a wall until you give him another.
Thoma
Has a gasp caught in his throat.
instinctively has his fingers on his lips
“Y/N was that...intentional?”
eyes wide in pleasant surprise and when you nod your head he breaks into a small charming laugh.
“I’m sorry, I made you wait. I’m a little embarrassed that you made the first move but...”
There’s a glow on his face and an unparalleled gentleness in his eyes when he brushes his thumb across your cheek.
“this time, let me do it,” as he leans in for a fireworks behind your eyes kiss.
Venti
Blinks. Is surprised only for a split second then laughs.
“Ahhh so that’s why you’re so jittery today!”
Would wrap his arms around your waist and pull you on his lap.
“No need to be nervous kitten, I’ve been waiting a while too. Come on, just one won’t do!”
Ridiculously giddy and doesn’t hide it. Like a child who has found a new candy store.
At some point he will remind you that you were the one who made the first move. It’ll probably be one of his most favourite stories to tell.
Xiao
You caught him by surprise.
He holds your hand but turns his head away to look at something else, trying to keep his blush covered.
You keep moving to the side he’s turned to only for him to swing his head the opposite direction when you do so, still trying to hide.
“Quit--Quit moving around! I just--” growls under his breath that you won’t let him have his moment in peace.
Suddenly grabs you to plant a clumsy kiss on your lips again.
Then becomes embarrassed all over again.
Xingqiu
Surprised, but kind of in a neutral way.
He’s always liked you and is comfortable with you so he’s delighted, but also outwardly calm about it.
“Hm...Shame. That was a little too quick,”
Inwardly he might be freaking out a little bit.
“I’m...not all that knowledgeable when it comes to these things. But I can assure you that I enjoyed it,”
Tugs at your hand to “hint” that he’d like to try again but probably will have a hard time conveying that he wants to try again using his words.
Zhongli
His lips part a little when it happens and he regains composure fairly quickly.
“Hm...” Will close his eyes to think about it but will also beckon you closer with an upward flick of his hand.
Takes your hand and kisses the back of it. It’s tender and patient and he looks up at you while he does so.
“There’s no hurry...I’m the type of person who...” trails his hand up your arm, to your shoulder and traces your jawline. “Likes to savour things...”
His voice has the ability to make you tremble with some sort of excitement. “Now then...Let’s try that again,”

pls may i have some saltburn takes. i saw u liked my post abt oliver never having read the reading list and it made me giggle.
OH YES DUDE oh i Loved that post because it brings up actually something that for some reason i haven't seen discussed much. oliver's unreliable narration.
i have a brilliant, i think, genius four-question plan for making people understand saltburn, and it has worked before and i will maybe elaborate on it, but not right now. right now i'll talk about one of the questions.
who is oliver telling this story to, and why?
we've established that he's an unreliable narrator at least because it's the logical conclusion for a movie shot in a way that opens and closes with his narrative. but what does oliver being untruthful actually mean for what we know about anything and everything that happened. have you ever obsessed over this particular question. well. i have.
my hot take, first of all, is that oliver is not that smart. he's clever, but the point of the movie is that he's caught up in and driven by desire; desire, pointedly, in the moment, merging desire, adapting to circumstance and leading him on. his want is not concrete from the beginning. his want is insatiable hunger that grows.
so, okay, from the top. the whole meet-cute with felix? because of a punctured tire? eh. idk if that's true. the money thing at the bar, pretending to not have any while he actually did? eh, perhaps. chronologically he then lies to felix about his dad, and this is big, this is deliberate, this is what ties felix to him for good.
what if the first two instances were coincidences? like, felix genuinely in trouble then, oliver genuinely out of cash. makes sense to become attached and actually do something, something impulsive, drastic, when felix seems to be drifting away, and lie about his dad.
interjection: you might be saying, nadia, he lied about his family from the get-go. well of course. i didn't say he's not smart enough to clock what image of a damsel in distress felix would gobble up. i'm saying he didn't do it for the long game, because there was no long game to speak of, as narrator-oliver would have you believe. i think he wanted felix so badly in that moment of several months in oxford, i think he was so blinded that he would've said anything. and he did.
now, i've briefly talked about oliver's feelings about the invitation to saltburn, and i think this is very important here. in the moment, he couldn't possibly know what exactly this invitation could mean, in the long run, only that it is definitely the next step in progression of desire for felix. present-day oliver interjection, and i believed him, after felix said he could leave anytime, i read as a slip up, an admission that oliver didn't plan shit, or at least from the beginning he didn't. it lured him in as soon as he got there, gothic house driving mad-style. he held on to a dream of something elusive (felix as a friend? lover? forever-partner in whatever capacity? i want him so bad i don't care what he is as long as he's there? please? please?).
the other obvious hole to poke at is in the end. venetia very conveniently takes the razors he places for her, and while sure, it could be read as him just hinting at how he conveniently read her fragile state and took advantage of it, i don't buy it. (i'm honestly even tempted to suggest he met elspeth on accident, to then spin a pretty story for his own sake, but him keeping tabs on the surviving cattons all those years tracks with what we know about obsessive oliver; he's definitely known about her flat for a while.)
but those are all minor stuff. i get completely if you think i'm reading too much into it and this is all just a headcanon after all, to be fair. BUT. but.
my second big take is that oliver was/is madly in love with felix. i know, shocking. but you have probably seen people say he wasn't. i will elaborate.
i wasn't in love with him. i loved him. i hated him. what does this sound like. have you ever had a friend come to you after a breakup fuming and telling you how they'll never end up with this asshole for sure and then get back together with him and then break up and say the same thing again.
i loved him, but i wasn't in love with him. i know everyone thought i was, but i wasn't. have you never told anyone something of the sort, specifically the last part, to emphasize just how it's everyone around you that's kinda hung up on whatever it is, and you've moved way past it, actually. have you never told yourself that.
i have. i know many other people who have, too. so, who is oliver telling this story to, and why? there's no one but dead elspeth in front of him. there's no one but himself. fun fact: each time you recall an event, it distorts under the influence of the mix of past and present emotions. each time you recall, you mold memory (source, e.g., x). the way i personally see it, oliver, for whatever reason, retells the story in order to solidify his own memory of it in the way that he wants to remember it. whatever he says, this is his final word, and this is his final truth.
this is also why details slip through, like my beloved i believed him, like the emotional i hated him growing into self-convincing, misleadingly dismissive, definitely unsure i hated him by the end. those are the true emotions that he recalls, those are the times that are hard to rewrite, for whatever reason.
of course, he hated them all. but before that, he loved felix to the point of blindly following where felix's desire led oliver, at least the way oliver perceived felix's desire. it failed, crucially, when felix's desire brought them to the center of the labyrinth, where oliver could not be the desired anymore.
my third hot take in connection to this is that oliver did not know he would kill felix until the very night he did it. he didn't know it, i think, until the last hour, until felix refused to reconcile completely, until he made his blood run cold. i also briefly mention it here, specifically how farleigh is tragically connected to felix's death, in my opinion. this tracks with, again, my strong belief that oliver lies, lies and lies throughout this whole story about wanting to take everything from felix from the beginning; no, he fucking didn't. he wanted felix. he wanted felix to be his. that was number one priority. he wanted felix and whatever else came with it, undoubtedly, but not the other way around.
paradoxically, he also wanted to be felix; he wanted to be him and be with him just as us tumblr people can often relate and the tragedy is that you always have to choose. felix pushed him away, so there was no other choice but to take what was left of felix that oliver could take. hence the clothes wearing, the table scene talk, the refusal to leave.
felix chose not to choose oliver, so oliver became felix. it's his fault. felix promised oliver could leave. felix left instead. what was oliver to do.
but to your point about the books, i think it could be either way, actually. i think he could have lied about it because technically that's also in character for him, he was performing for an audience of his tutor. but i also think that he was, genuinely, a nerd before he came to oxford, and he didn't, and still doesn't, have any friends, and he hates his sisters and his mother and is miserable. he's the perfect profile of someone who'd read king james' bible over the summer, and then some, imma be honest.
so, yes. i think oliver lies about most things in saltburn and i think he's pathetic, lost, confused, grieving, angry, horny, down bad and in denial. and i fucking love him. i so fuckin do.

Bite Me - Chapter 10
What is this? Highschool musical?
June stress cleans, and Aedes stresses.
Pumped out another promptober prompt!! Glipse

Previous Chapter : Chapter 9
Next Chapter: Chapter 11
Word count: 2520
CW: Mentions of blood, Adult language, mild depictions of anxiety
As if a passenger in her own mind, June watches her actions playing out before her as her mind hums, buzzing with thoughts of the night- thoughts of Aedes. The shock of realization, the way he moved both too fast and too rigid. She remembers his voice, silky smooth and deep- how it cracked as he begged her to stop. She grimaces as she remembers the fear so clear on his face- and how deeply she desired it.
As her hands numbly move from task to task her thoughts seem to ebb and flow- at times, however briefly, placated by the monotony of cleaning. At first it was easy- she made her bed, picked up discarded clothing, and straightened the various contents of her desk. Yet, as her room became more and more tidy, she became desperate to find more tasks to occupy her mind.
She rearranged her plants, switching their positions from her desk to the shelves to the window sill.
Play with me, my human
She optimized the layout of her room, moving her laundry basket right beside her dresser to keep things thematically consistent- to find a logical flow. Or so she told herself. There had to be some reason- some excuse to think about anything other than him.
Indulge your delusion
His words seemed to echo in her mind and June found herself craving more stimulating tasks to busy herself- to quiet her mind. To quiet him.
So she continued on. The guitar should go near the desk, not the stand mirror.  The rug looks better at the side of the bed, not the foot of it.  Maybe the bed should face the other way?
June sighs.
This was getting ridiculous.
Looking at the space in front of her, her room was as meticulously kept as it had ever been. Immaculate by her standards, and yet the thoughts of him persisted. Her lips drew into a tight line. How could they not? Everything about the night was so far beyond her realm of normalcy she hadn’t even initially believed it herself.
Even now she found herself full of questions and doubts. The reality she was apparently living in felt inconsistent with the reality she’d always known. Why was he so small? How could vampires exist- what even constituted a vampire? Was he immortal? Or was he just some guy who drank blood? Two lines of thought thrashed against one another, competing for her attention. Logic, alight with curiosity, demanded answers, while the more empathetic part of her wanted a conclusion- needed an apology to be heard, a way to show him she was sorry.
Each question seemed to compete for her attention, growing louder and more desperate as she shoved them to the back of her mind while simultaneously shoving book after book back into her bookcase. Though she meandered about in silence her thoughts were loud. Unbelievably so- as if they were drowning out all actual sound. Her mind was loud- but she could be louder.
A song, gentle and familiar, starts to form on her tongue.
I fall to pieces
Each time I see you again
The notes felt smooth in a way it was hard to describe. Smooth in a way that seemed to soften the sharpness in her mind, as if the softness of the song could dull the edge of her emotions. The melody a soothing balm on her agitated mind.
I fall to pieces
How can I be just your friend?
The tangle of thoughts that constricted around her mind seemed to relax, coming undone as though the song pulled just the right thread to untangle the mass, pulling the thoughts further and further from her, as if sending them floating away on her melody.
You want me to act like we've never kissed
And yet, for as placating as it was… something felt off. June couldn't shake the thought that something was amiss- an unsettling undercurrent lingered just beneath the shallow tranquility of the song. A particular unease seemed to creep at the edges of her mind. Not a foreboding dread, but instead something lighter, almost like deja vu, as if it was something she should have known- The feeling of forgetting something but not being sure what; The feeling of pulling a loose thread only to unravel a crucial stitch…
You want me to forget
Pretend we've never met
As she sang she felt as thoughts, abstract and formless, seemed to shift in the back of her mind. As if the words of her song had breathed life into something dormant lurking in her subconscious. The words were familiar, yet not, taking on an enigmatic allure-  as if they held secrets she ought to have known. With each lyric that escaped her lips, a subtle transformation occurred, as though the music itself was a conduit, channeling something she felt compelled piece together.
And I've tried and I've tried
But I haven't yet
Movement out of the corner of her eye catches June’s gaze
All at once, her heart stops and the gears that were futility catching finally seem to clunk into place. Aedes… he hadn’t left.
You walk by and I fall to pieces
I fall to pieces
The lyrics became a prophecy to unfold, as June falls to pieces. The words barely register in her mind, her lips numbly singing the words as her eyes stay locked on him for the longest second of her life. Something in her feels as though it crumbles. She’d sung the song countless times, and yet it was as if she’d never known it. The words seemed to resonate in more than just her chest. Her very being shaking under the resonance, it was as if she’d unlocked a new understanding- a whole new song. The words hadn’t changed, neither did the notes. It was something in her.
June looks away, feigning that she was looking at something just near enough, but not him. Heart beating wildly in her chest she desperately fought to keep her face as neutral as possible. How could she bring herself to look at him after all that she'd done…
He… he was still here…
He hadn’t left…
June felt a lightness in her chest. Like a flower pushing up through the concrete, a small fragment of hope seemed to bloom from within her.
Should she-
No. She dismissed the idea before it could fully form. She’d done enough damage.
But maybe she could make it right if she just-
June chews her lip.
Just what was she supposed to do? Just waltz up and say ‘Hey I’m really sorry for scaring you- it's just that you being terrified really turned me on and I kinda thought you were into it’ ??
Embarrassment hot on her face, June flops to her bed, wishing she could just scream into her pillow, but the awareness that she had company forced her to keep some sort of decorum. Instead she reaches for her nightstand, pulling out the relic that was her childhood mp3 player.
God, she wanted to make this right.
He hadn’t left yet… maybe she still could.
---
Aedes' heart seems to jump in his chest as for the briefest of moments he is once again trapped in her stare- captive in her overwhelming gaze.
Or… not?
She moves on, still singing that enchanting melody.
He releases a breath, his body all at once relaxing. She hadn’t seen him.
Slowly, he backs away. He’d been stupid. He’d nearly gotten himself caught, and for what? To watch some natural disaster of a woman sing? He sighed, making his way back to the far corner beneath the dresser.
He could have sworn they’d locked eyes…
A part of him, as terrified as he was, almost wished they had.
Her song finishes, fading off into a melodious hum as he hears her settle on her bed.
Something felt off-
No, not felt- sounded.
While his spike of bloodlust had abated for now, his ears could still pick up the faint sound of her heart beating in the distance.
It was fast.
Far too fast for someone laying down.
Fuck.
She had seen him hadn't she? But she hadn't said a thing- she hadn't even made a move in his direction…
Was she just waiting for her chance- wanting to catch him off guard?
He scowled. That didn't make sense. He was cornered. If she wanted to catch him she absolutely could.
The sound of her movement makes him jolt- nearly thwacking his head off the low cover of the dresser. He watches with his heart in his throat as she pads away from the bed and towards her closet, rummaging around in boxes she had moments ago neatly stacked away. His eyes follow her as she moves to sit at her desk- back to him.
He swallowed.
She wasn’t acting like it but he couldn’t shake the suspicion she had seen him. He frowned, not fond of staying in the spot where she had glimpsed him. He needed a better spot, and thankfully he had quite literally been delivered one. The freshly placed laundry bin perfectly covered the once bare space between the dresser and standing mirror. Carefully, Aedes made his way out from underneath the dresser, squeezing himself between the wicker laundry bin and the wall.
Nothing.
She continued to sit at her desk, idling fiddling with something.
Aedes frowns.
While entering the window and getting to the bed had been a quick and easy drop, the same couldn’t be said for the way back up. With no headboard to the bed Aedes found himself eyeing her desk as the only means to scale back up the window sill.
With her back still turned, Aedes darts from the laundry bin to the mirror- peaking back to see the human still occupied at her desk. She hummed softly to herself as she sat hunched over something, her scale and his relative angle completely obscuring whatever it was that had her focus.
Aedes sighed. Whatever it was that she was doing, he didn’t get the impression she’d be moving on anytime soon. He let him slump back against a large potted plant that sat decoratively beside the mirror. The cool ceramic felt nice against his skin. He felt his body once again start to relax, the sudden heaviness of exhaustion finally hitting him, as if he only now was bearing his full weight.
Once again, he was back to waiting.
Waiting for her to open the window.
Waiting for her to leave the room.
Waiting to get away.
The sun cast the room in a smothering warmth. Cozy, yet too much. Her hum droned on in the distance, with the occasional odd sound of her fiddling at her desk. Even in this relative calmness, the light of day was still so busy. Aedes found himself longing for the night- a cool breeze and fresh air. Peace and tranquility and freedom. He couldn’t wait to leave. To feel the crunch of dirt under his boots. The tall grass providing cover as he searched for something to feed on. A dark sky above him, stars bright and clear- the compelling song of a heart beat singing in his ears even more clear- Crystalline. A soft wordless melody filling him with vigor- resonating in his chest. The blood, sweet on his tongue, filling him with a hazy warmth. A cozy warmth. Enveloped in soft hands. Lips on his stomach. Her inaudible whispers hushed against his chest. What was she saying? He couldn’t hear her over the sound of her heart beating. Thunder in ears. So loud he could feel it- a vibration shaking him. The floor trembled beneath him
The… floor?
Aedes jolts awake.
His breath catching in his throat as her steps shake the floor. Fuck.
He scrambles to his feet, peaking around from the cover of the plant.
There she was, in all her magnitude, walking straight towards the dresser. His throat tightened as she knelt down.
No.
She had seen him.
Fuck.
Was she looking for him?
He held his breath, heart slamming against his chest as his body tensed, preparing to run the second she turned her attention his way.
Only- she didn’t.
She knelt for only a moment, and then moved on- standing up and exiting the room, a soft hum fading into the distance as she left. She hadn’t reached under the dresser, hadn’t even looked. Aedes felt as his brows knit together. She had left something. A small vaguely rectangular shape sat just beneath the dresser.
He swallowed. There was no denying it. She had seen him. She knew he was here.
So just what was she doing?
His eyes flicked from the strange rectangle back to the door. She had left. the air around him felt lighter. More crisp, as if the tension of her presence left some kind of haze. His relief however, was short lived, as he attention was brought back to the window- still closed.
Trapped.
She wasn’t even here and he was still trapped.
He drags his hands along the length of his face, frustration building. Think. There had to be something he could do in the meantime- someway he could move himself closer to escape.
His eyes flicked back to the rectangle- curiosity gnawing at his focus.
His eyes, adjusted to the daylight in the room, couldn’t quite make out what she’d left under the dresser with it obscured in the heavy contrast of shadow. The whole thing felt off, like a trick or some sort of trap, yet off in the distance he could still hear her, however faintly, humming to herself.
Aedes scowls, eyes narrowing as he tentatively moves back toward the dresser, ready to sprint away in a second notice should he hear her return.
Drawing closer, he makes out more details; black, soft edges, folds. Aedes’ frown deepens. The more he saw, the less sure he was of what exactly he was looking at.
Was it… fabric?
He nudges the folded fabric with his foot- nothing feeling amiss, though he wasn’t exactly sure what he was looking for.
Aedes pauses for a moment, considering if he should touch it- the weight of the action sitting heavy in his mind. She had left this for him clearly, in taking this he was essentially confirming that he was here…
But there was no harm in looking, right?
As he lifts it up, the fabric unfurls, and for a moment, Aedes isn’t quite sure what exactly he’s looking at. He would have thought it a blanket if it wasn’t for the strange way it hung from his hands- stitched together at seemingly random points. He turns the fabric this way and that, trying to figure out how it was supposed to be oriented. His eyes fall to something pinning two points of the fabric together - a silver stud.
Aedes blinks, some part of his mind seeming to recognize the shape.
His heart freezes in his chest as the familiarity dawns on him, recollection drawing his face into a deep scowl.
A cloak.

the beginning scene in s3 where Erwin first wakes up from his coma. his and Levi’s interaction is so interesting and well done in how it speaks about their relationship is actually MASTERFULLY done.
as soon as Erwin wakes up and they start discussing what the evacuation of Wall Rose has done to Sina and the underground, Levi consoles him and says he wouldnt blame him if he wanted more rest after this news.
but Erwin says no, that he’s tired of sleeping.
Levi AGAIN tries to consoles him about his arm, but Erwin rejects his compassion. how he's such a monster, really his right arm means nothing, and he still has a debt to pay for his sins when he dies and ends up in hell
Pyxis takes this very lightly and asks erwin if he can come visit and bring some alcohol. this annoys Levi lol
Pyxis then laments that his own captain took away all his alcohol and jokes about how well she takes care of him.
Erwin praises him for having such an excellent aide looking after him.
and in the next panel Levi is visibly exhasperated.
Tumblr media
Hange explains their theory that humans are titans based on what they learned from ragako village. Hange and Levi, but especially Levi, are rightfully horrified by this. he looks crestfallen and pretends that he doesn’t understand their conclusion at first
Tumblr media
then, Levi catches Erwin smiling, which shocks him. Erwin is vague about what he’s smiling about and why. he’s super dismissive.
Tumblr media
but right away Levi asks "is that the real reason youre in the Survey Corps?"
he's instantly figured out Erwin’s real intentions based on this small interaction… it’s a testament to how connected they are, even though Erwin refuses to accept that.
Erwin tells him to ease off. "my arm was eaten. i’m physically and emotionally exhausted. don’t you have some pity for me?"
Levi smirks and says that he is pitiful. but here, he’s referring to the reason Erwin smiled, and how blasé he is about the news that horrified himself and Hange. Levi knows that he’s selfish for being happy beyond any other feeling at the news, while at the same time, Erwin JUST expressed the most pathetic self-pity speech about deserving to suffer in hell.
yeah, he really is pitiful. does that evidently change Levi’s feelings in this scene? his actions later? absolutely not. (but i won’t get into that now.)
Erwin wants to know where Historia and Eren are at. Hange explains, and Erwin proposes a plan about finding out more about Historia’s family, and deploying Eren’s hardening ability to take back Wall Maria.
Tumblr media
but Levi mocks him by repeating Erwin’s excuse from earlier to not open up.
"your arm was eaten. you’re physically and emotionally exhausted. i felt bad for you (i pitied you)."
despite all he learned about Erwin just now, he jokes around, his loyalty doesn’t sway. but he also took Erwin’s comment about Pyxis having such an excellent assistant and tries (in classic Levi roundabout fashion) to make Erwin notice and believe that he cares, and that it’s okay to be honest with him about his intentions. Erwin can’t see what is right in front of him, and that’s another reason why he’s pitiful.
it seems here that Levi’s feelings are one-sided, but as i’ve discussed before in previous posts, Erwin is such a slave to his dream and consumed by his guilt that he can’t possibly register consciously that Levi feels all of these soft sentiments about him.
Tumblr media
because after all, they need to make everyone’s sacrifices worth something. it was Erwin’s plan that got many CIVILIANS in Stohess District killed. Erwin during the battle where he lost his arm, is seen looking around lost as his comrades are eaten around him. he says he’s replaceable.
but for no logical reason, he didn’t get grabbed, so i think he’s going to go into the uprising much too greedy and amibitious to be smart because he’s waiting for his turn. like he’s daring fate to kill him already. a part of him maybe wants him to fail, for all this to cost him his life...

a very long messy review of link click (season 2)
alright so reading through a bunch of (mostly negative) reviews of the season thus far i've come to my own conclusions over how this season felt, and i really feel like addressing them since i personally feel like it deserves recognition (and rightful criticism) within certain aspects. really interested in everyone's takes so lmk whatever you think about all these aspects i'm about to gloss over.
Tumblr media
NOTE ; i'm not going to be talking about the art direction or OSTs . i believe those have been nothing short of phenomenal and i feel like we can all universally agree over that
1) tonal shift : from a more emotionally driven s1, coupled with sprinkles of slice of life moments, we turn to a mostly thriller/mystery plot line. personally, i've always seen this coming. the tonal shift really didn't take me by surprise. with the lg stabbing at the end of season 1 it almost seemed inevitable that the more light hearted aspects of the first season weren't going to happen. more importantly, it was very clear that there was always a higher presence to fight. link click was always meant to be a thriller, this was always the plan, and so i suppose logically i assumed the second season would follow that path. i understand how people might've felt disappointed, or 'robbed', but i don't think the shift was all that shocking quite honestly, it was always set up. link click was never light hearted, even at s1.
the more shocking shift has to be the shift from an emotional, to suspenseful change in writing. the emotional writing in link click has always been the best part of the show and that hasn't changed, the emotionally driven plot lines of s2 (chen bin, ltc/ltx) have been written very well. the suspenseful writing also works. replaces the tear jerkers with an unsettling anxiety, and it's executed relatively well. you can clearly tell that the crew's been experimenting quite a lot with this season, and yes, that's usually what season 2 is for.
2) pacing : now i totally get the criticism in this aspect. in my opinion, the weakest part of s2's been the pacing. with overly drawn out fight scenes, and unnecessarily long recaps, i think the issue has to do with the fact that lc just has a LOT to address, and so it makes us feel less inclined to sit through longer scenes that don't directly advance the plot.
obviously i get that the fight scenes show off a lot of the animation budget #tm and they do look great but the fact that we had way too much time dedicated to a five minute long fighting cutscene in the FIRST episode just made me feel impatient.
3) red herring endings: alright this might be an unorthodox opinion but, aren't red herring cliff hangers a norm in general with these kinds of shows lol. idk i've come to expect the total opposite every time so it doesn't really bother me i guess i'm just used to the medium. not really a lc problem it's a story telling problem in general but that's just marketing i don't know what else to say.
it'd be nice if they followed through but some part of me thinks they're pulling a whole boy who cried wolf situation, eventually they'll pull the trigger when we don't really expect it.
4) shipping/ main trio reconciliations : it's a really serious ongoing situation. i kind of get why the main trio/shiguang don't get a chance to talk things over amongst themselves, it just isn't the time. keep in mind everything that's happening rn is happening continuously, there are no gaps within the days or anything, kind of makes sense that they don't really talk about it. they probably will get to once it's all over, which might be well into s3. again, this was always meant to be a thriller more than it was trio focused. also idk about you guys but i think we actually did get a lot of sweet moments within the trio, cxs and lg, even the sibling dynamic with ql and cxs were really lovely this season.
5) the women: okay i REALLY don't understand the problem here. the women are written well. ql is written FANTASTICALLY and all side characters like ltx and that one red eyed lady i'm forgetting the name of were great too. hell even chen bin's wife was great. i think for a donghua/anime where women are usually given dirt in terms of actually strong writing, lc has always been very solid. their lives do not revolve around the men in the show it just happens to be that men are a part of their lives. they have very distinct personalities and aren't treated like weird objects to gaze at (what a bar lol) but yes i do think the women are written quite dimensionally.
6) unanswered questions : when have linear shows ever answered questions (especially mc based) in season 2?? when has season 2 EVER tied loose ends? when it comes to linear television, season 2's purpose almost always build towards a greater evil/climax. there's a reason why season 2 hasn't answered questions we've had, season 2s in most shows rarely ever do. from what i can tell, with a confirmed s3, i've always expected s2 to simply do its job as a second season and further raise stakes and raise even more questions. i do get the frustration, i get the lack of any backstory, but i want to refrain from making any actual comments over that till every episode's aired ahah, however, im not too mad at it. i just think this show's ride is currently still at an increasing accelerated pace (guys i'm sorry i study physics), things will only be explained once we've once hit the climactic point or go downhill right after. time will tell i guess
Conclusion
overall, i think this season was actually pretty solid. s1 set a very unrealistically high bar, as s1 in my opinion is one of the best seasons in television period. but s2 and s1 shouldn't be compared in the same way, their tone is quite different, and needs to be analysed individually instead. i'll make a complete review once the season is over, but honestly i've come to enjoy the season most when i stop expecting too much out of it. i think people had way too many things they've expected from s2, that were bound to simply never happen.
that said, i do hope the crew takes the valid criticism regarding the pacing (and ig the character focus?) into consideration and implements it well into s3. it's worth noting that i believe nothing was meant to be complete with s2 in the first place.
i've really enjoyed this season, and i'm beyond ecstatic to rewatch it all once it's done airing, in order to properly take it all in. it's had its flaws, more than s1 has had (let's be real s1 had little to none). but that's bound to happen to shows when they head down their linear routes. currently sitting at a 7/10

Ok so we've all went through some stages regarding the finale and The Great Divorce (or lack thereof) in S5.
I'm not a patron so I have no idea which turn the plot is going to take in reality, but after some insight from the others I've noticed which way would have been the most enterteining for me.
So a lot of people already noticed that Arthur probably isn't going to be pissed at John all that much. Yeah the situation isn't peachy but they had worse, and I don't even mean like "part 18 The Madness" kind of worse. Whom Arthur took his rage on was Kayne, so the "you lied" might have referred to him as well. (REALLY, THANK YOU to those who noticed that, it made the finale MUCH better for me, although it was good and fun as is.)
If Arthur IS mad at Kayne:
Why did he sound so defeated in the end? Was it an act to gain some time to figure out how to get out of this predicament? Or was he shocked to witness two of his allies die or disappear (and I think he IS worried for Noel a fair amount), maybe spiraling to "everyone around you dies" and "nothing gold can stay" as a possible future implication again?
A fun part for me would be if there is some self-blaming, too. Because after hearing the whole story it's easy to arrive to a horried realization: after Arthur's deal John was supposed to be safe, and he wasn't, therefore, Arthur failed him.
Even though getting John back with no memory was selfish (because erasing the memory would have critically affected John when he didn't have a say in it, and that's obviously messed up) and not ideal (it still put him at least with his friend instead and gave a chance to develop on his own again rather than being consumed by the King, which... yeah... I often forget how fucked up Arthur's behaviour with Yellow actually was from this POV :')), it still helped them both. They had better chances at survival together rather than on their own. It wasn't the worst outcome, Arthur didn't betray his friend. John being safe(-er) was an equally important part of the deal as Arthur not being alone. But since Kayne didn't hold his end of the bargain, John wasn't just in danger. He was in the Dark World, for indefinite amount of time. That was a complete opposite to the conditions of the deal. If Kayne didn't strike another deal with John, they wouldn't have met again, probably. John would have stayed in the DW while Arthur could still have his life and a chance at a new friendship, however sour it turned in the end. So, in a distant, inderect way it was like Arthur was betraying John while not even knowing this. Because he thought he could trust Kayne on this deal. It's not exactly logical and is rather a stretch but it's easy to leap to this conclusion, especially for someone with self-depricating tendencies like Arthur's. He's doing better but I don't think he's completely past it yet. He was failing someone dear to him without knowing, again. We know how he feels about that.
Moreover, we know how Kayne emphasises time and again how powerless John is before him, but Arthur is just as helpless. His rage at Kayne seemed to die out in a span of a few minutes, giving way to a lifeless "I'll come" after Kayne's demonstration of power. Which feels unltimately out of character and I know HG knows his characters well, so there HAS to be an explanation and I'm just... WHICH ONE GRRR I NEED TO KNOW!11 He may be furious about Kayne's actions but still not be able to do anything about this. And in my mind this relates to the talk about faith he had with John: that if he believed in God, Arthur would have had to believe all the deaths around him, as well as Faroe's, was God's plan, and he just can't agree with that. Not said but I think implied: it would have meant that some very powerful entity decided to kill or hurt a person he deeply cares about with his own hands/ignorance, and Arthur doesn't have a say in this while being the one at fault. It's the same here.
Oh, wait, this isn't even the second time it would have happened! It's the third, the second was John's doing, with Parker's death. Arthur has a streak!
So all in all, if the finale revelations don't trigger some trauma in this department that needs dealing with, I'd be a bit sad. But not much, part 40 gave A LOT of new opportunities, so I feel like a kid in a candy store anyway. I wonder which ones are going to be explored in the show, and will be waiting for the ficwriters to do their magic, too :D

Hardly Friends.
03. When he Proves That to me.
Pairings- Megumi x Reader, Slight Nobara x Yuji (mostly platonic)
Synopsis- Megumi and Y/N used to be inseparable as children and just started drifting apart when they start high school they meet again in college. But you are roommates with each others best friends. Nobara drags Y/N to a party one night without knowing Yuji had asked Megumi too, they start their journey to regain their lost friendship on a two week trip.
Word Count:
Tumblr media
1 night. 1 singular night you had left to sleep in your oh so comfortable bed, and private space. Maki said she’d look after Mochi, your cat although Yuji says it’s the shared cat. Everything packed and ready to go, check. The house would be looked after, check. Mochi has her favourite treats fully stocked, check. Everything seemed to be in order and all was good.
You and Yuji had decided to go out for dinner so there wasn’t a mess left in the kitchen before it would be left for two weeks. “Let’s get rice bowls” Yuji suggested, “I’d rather we get thai food” there was a little back and forth until it was decided on Sushi. Getting a booth and sitting down Yuji wasted no time in asking the long dreaded question. “Are you and Megumi going to be able to get along on this trip?”. God this whole thing was so annoying. Why couldn’t the two of you just get along with each other? One day it’s awful tension that sticks to the air and suffocates everyone else around, or the conversation just flows and everything is good. Would you have to worry about this on and off bullshit the whole two weeks? “I don’t know Yuu, I’ll be civil with him” pausing to think about what should be said next not to start an argument. “I honestly just want things to go back to how they used to be, but he’s so stand off-ish with me, and it feels like it’s only me”. Yuji smiled brightly, “You know he wants to go back to how things used to be as too.”
Shocked would be an understatement to the reaction stuck on your face. He didn’t wanna be a jerk anymore? He wanted to go back to being inseparable? Was Yuji lying to get you to try harder to be civil with him? That’s the most logical reason, different thoughts raced through your mind but you stuck with that conclusion. “I’ll believe it when he proves that to me.” The conversation was dropped after that.
-
Loud knocks against your bedroom door awoke you from your slumber as a chirpy Nobara opened it. Forgetting Yuji had given her a key to the apartment you freaked out. “What the hell are you doing in here?! What time is it?” Still half asleep and slurring words, eyes starting to focus on her. “Get up and get ready, we have 15 minutes before we have to leave for the airport.” As quick as she entered the room she left, probably to raid the fridge for a quick snack. Sitting up and wiping the drool from your mouth, instinctively grabbing the phone from its charger to check the time. 4:05am. Perfect because of course the flight had to be this early in the morning. The flight wouldn’t be that long, an hour and a half at most you could dress cute or like a total bum. The thought of being someone’s airport crush urged you to put a cute outfit on.
You slammed yours and Yuji’s luggage into the trunk of Nobara’s car, “Do we have everything? Are you forgetting anything Yuji?” asking for the third time since everything started getting loaded in the car. You could practically see the lightbulb go off above his head as he took off back inside shouting a quick “one minute!” Sighing you seated yourself in the car quietly, looking to the front Nobara scrolling on her phone and Megumi peacefully slept in the passenger seat. He looked like a nice guy for once in his life when he wasn’t frowning or scowling at you. One of his eyes shot open as the other car door opened in the backseat, and of course he caught you staring and made a remark about it which pissed you off. Looking to Yuji he had a goddam neck pillow. He could NOT forget his neck pillow and now you were running 5 minutes behind schedule.
“I am not waiting any longer so if you forgot something you’ll have to do without” Nobara said sternly as she whipped out of the parking garage earning a “yes ma’am” from everyone.
-
“Why did we have to be here 2 hours early?” Both you and Yuji groaned. “Deal with it” Megumi mumbled. Great, that’s the second time he’s been a jerk and it’s only 5:15am. Your flight didn’t leave until 7:30am, although the four of everyone were pretty far back in security. Remembering you hadn’t eaten wondering when your stomach would start begging for something to eat and on que it did. “Does anyone wanna get something to eat?” looking around Yuji shook his head and Nobara said she’d hold everyone’s spot in line since he had in fact had something back at the apartment. That left Megumi, who would have been your last pick anyways especially after the comments he’s already made today.
“Yeah sure, I’ll go” He says as he handed his stuff to Yuji and walked towards all the airport fast food restaurants. Browsing in awkward silence Megumi finally spotted a cafe asking if you were cool with grabbing food there. Walking out with three iced coffees and one black coffee as well as some breakfast pastries, you were satisfied. “Did Nobara tell you much about where we’re staying or anything?”. “No not much, just that we’re going to Osaka” he nodded as acknowledgment. So weird.
By time you both had gotten back to the airport security Nobara and Yuji were waving for you to hurry up as they were close to being next in line. Rushing over and handing everyone there belonging items, everything went over smoothly and it was almost time to board the plane.
Yuji and Nobara were talking amongst each other as Megumi just scrolled through his phone double tapping it occasionally. Nothing to eventful, just the sound of families arguing, snoring and flights being announced. Finally it was your flight that was called to board, excitedly everyone picked up there stuff and was off. “Guys wait, one air port selfie! please!” the only person not to say no was Yuji, of course.
A window seat, the best seat and it was all yours. Nobara made her way into her seat and slumped down. “I think the flight attendant is checking tickets” Nobara said pointing down the isle, reaching over her to see. The flight attendent was indeed checking tickets, Nobara quickly handed everyone’s tickets out. Yuji and Megumi were sat behind you.
The flight attendant finally reached Megumi’s and Yuji’s seats reading off her clip board “Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki?” the flight attendant looked up as she eyed them down, Nobara was clearly a feminine name and neither of them were a girl. Yuji shot his hand up “I’m Itadori! But that isn’t Nobara.” Nobara turned around to butt into the conversation. “I’m Nobara Kugisaki but we’re travelling together, I thought it would be okay if Megumi and I switched seats?”
“Well it’s not. You need to switch back. immediately.” She puffed her chest out in pride like she actually did something and walked off to continue her check.
…Man. Why were you always getting out into awkward situations with Megumi?

It's deeply intriguing to me how much Godot is bad at prosecuting when compared to every other main prosecutor.
He's the only prosecutor in the series who's ever let a criminal, Ron DeLite, walk free, and it's totally his fault. There are at least two instances in 3-2 and 3-3 where, instead of trying to pin Phoenix with evidence, he lets his conjecture fly and argues the logic of it, which anyone who's even heard of Phoenix knows is a losing battle. He's good at making arguments, but he falls shorts compared to prosecutors like, say, van Zieks. His only real troublesome trait is that he will not let Phoenix take shortcuts and forces him to lay out his full reasoning, whereas other prosecutors, namely Klavier, will catch on the defense's reasoning and will spell out the conclusion.
And at first, it's not shocking, because out of the gate, you know he's a rookie, and not a genius like Franziska or Edgeworth, whose first outing is a much more impressive.
However, we later learn that he's Diego Armando, an experienced defense attorney, and it doesn't make any sense. We saw him advise Mia, we heard him give advice that would inform Phoenix's tactics later on. He should be the perfect counter to him, much like how a certain defense-attorney-turned-prosecutor in another installment of the series actually is.
And then, you hit Bridge to Turnabout.
He's the killer. He knows everything that went down. It's more and more obvious as the case goes on that he knows more than he lets on. And yet, he continues to pressure Phoenix to crack the case, as usual. But this time, he's both more lenient and more unforgiving.
On one hand, he straight up gives hints to the defense. Every other time a prosecutor has done the same, it was in a clear team-up moment against a common enemy. This time, he's the culprit, so that's not what happens.
On the other hand, not only is it the case where he whips out the unlimited penalty, but he also cranks up the verbal abuse from "witty jabs" to "reason-you-suck speeches", is much more tough on which lines of reasoning you follow, and basically makes no prosecuting mistakes (I don't count the red-on-white stuff, man's disabled).
At first, I interpreted this as his guilty conscience pushing him to get caught, and while I still believe that, there's another, far more complex interpretation that makes him truly fascinating.
Godot admits at the end of the trial that Phoenix following in Mia's footsteps was both the brave and correct way to go about honoring her, unlike his desire for revenge, which he calls "running away from [his] grief". He also says he wanted to test Phoenix's mettle
So what if, deep down, he wanted to see Phoenix disprove his reductive vision of him, and subtly acted as a sink-or-swim type of mentor?
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't believe he purely had good intentions when he set out to do so, I think he was lashing out at an easy target and it made him forget his hurt for just a second. It's a textbook "vengeance feels empty" type story.
What I'm saying is, just like Edgeworth wanted to be guilty of his father's murder to be relieved of the weight of his grief despite his innocence and how Franziska thought she would be happy if she was as monstrous as her father and was devastated when she realized she wasn't, Godot thought becoming evil could free him from his suffering, but his best self, the person he could be if he faced his grief head on and grew to overcome it like Phoenix did, prevented him from losing himself in that villainy
Hey, it's almost like there's a thematic throughline with the OT's main prosecutors. Weird.

SxF · Chapter 35··· Honey trap. Part 2
(Warning: This contains content from the manga)
I want to analyze some of the SxF manga chapters which I find very interesting. Seeing subtle details that we often overlook. I clarify that I am based on the manga, and especially that all this is based on my own opinion and point of view. Being a manga that continues to be published, many things can change or contradict in the future. So you are free to have a different opinion. With all this said, I begin
Now moving on to analyzing Twilight. You have no idea of the many inconsistencies that this chapter produced in me regarding the attitude and strategy that Twilight decided to apply: The infallible "Honey Trap"
Tumblr media
In this panel, Yoru looks beautiful ❤
As I mentioned before, this entire arc was based on Nightfall and her desperate attempts to separate Yor from Twilight, in a foolish attempt to steal her place as "the wife" and mother of the fake Forger family. From Twilight's naive point of view, this entire conflict stemmed from Nightfall "desperately seeking recognition as a spy", wanting to succeed, and this leads to her being careless. Risked all that Twilight has cemented with the Forger family. (You can even see his annoyance when she, in code, speaks ill of Yor). After completing the mission successfully, he is a spectator of a tennis match, where Fiona was "literally" risking her life by not knowing Yor's strength, and hearing the comments of the neighbors at the idea that Yor denounces him with Yuri. Twilight feels a deep fear that this will end his mission.
Which brings us to this point...
Quickly, Twilight's reaction is to talk to Yor to clarify this whole situation and clear all her insecurities. So he suggests going on a spontaneous date. But Yor, as intuitive as ever, suspects that Loid "wants to tell her something — that he was going to replace her as his wife.
That causes Yor to panic, get drunk and unleash a show of jealousy — even though she was so drunk she couldn't even do that.
Twilight was obviously confused, but it's at this point that Twilight's mind begins to think and comes to the most obvious conclusion—Yor has feelings for him.
And what was this man's reaction?
Tumblr media
Yes! Just look at that expression. My gosh, it's so hilarious! just had a panic attack
Now, many times I have seen comments on this chapter from other readers and they say that "Twilight, acted in a rational and strategic way" apparently, the idea of seducing and manipulating Yor would be in total benefit for the mission. Therefore, Twilight has no feelings for Yor.
In particular, I do not agree with this position. I think Twilight was totally impulsive and irrational, he wasn't thinking clearly and he panicked (and his feelings)
Now what is the real cause behind the "Honey Trap"?
Twilight evidently took him by surprise, and his face reflects a state of shock. He just doesn't expect this fake date to end up in this situation. He truly believed that Yor was just feeling depressed about her insecurities as a mother and wife, and would end up quitting if he didn't do something soon. However, Yor fell into despair and the alcohol made her speak in a confused way about her feelings. And as usual with him, every time he is afraid he resorts to his most infallible method (according to him)… The Twilight mode.
Tumblr media
According to the spy, the most "rational" thing is to take advantage of the feelings of his false wife. And well, maybe he's right, if it weren't for his lousy execution.
The logic behind this strategy is hasty
By now, Twilight knows how vulnerable Yor becomes when she turns to alcohol. She is shy, nervous, and has the raw strength to tear a person apart. Mix that with liquor and you have a potential weapon.
Although, the liquor helped her to express herself, giving her a false security. This is the worst time to make a move.
If he found out that Yor is "in love with him" easily, he could try to reassure her, take her home and wait until the next day for her to be sober. In this way, start his seduction strategies and meditate her reactions.
But what was it that he did?
Tumblr media
Oh yeah! He assumed that she was completely in love with him, wanted to start a relationship (a real marriage) and completely forgot how drunk she was and that anything he does could make Yor take it the wrong way (which is what happened) (He even know that she drunk can be aggressive)
Being drunk makes us honest, but it also makes us more confused. Yor was in an unpredictable state, and Twilight just forgot about it.
Another point to note is that Yor does not process the physical approach well when it is fast and forced. She gets very nervous, and ends up throwing punches at random. Twilight knows that Yor has never had relationships with men, her experience is zero. So rushing things with her is not good. She is shy and she is terrified of making mistakes and doing something wrong
And what was his flirting strategy?
Oh yeah! Pounce like a hungry predator on his prey, corner her and ask her to confess their feelings, and to become his true wife… YES, HIS TRUE WIFE?!!
Tumblr media
Just look at his face! I'm sure that if Yor doesn't stop him, Loid would have proposed to him, a honeymoon and having a baby that same night HAHAHAHA
Let us clarify that: Being in love does not imply that you already want to get married.
Yes, they may already be married, but putting aside the lie. For Yor, this is her first relationship, not to mention that their closeness is the product of coexistence. There are a lot of things Yor hasn't experienced, and I don't think even when sober she would have accepted it. (Not because she doesn't feel anything for him, but because she still doesn't process relationships well) Surely she would be just as confused and would only make their relationship uncomfortable since she, due to her insecurities, still does not know how to process the role of a wife/girlfriend.
The way Twilight made such a sudden and risky proposal doesn't seem like a very strategic move considering Yor's personality.
Tumblr media
Hmm...I don't know, Twilight. Did you do this for the mission? Or are your suppressed emotions for Yor confusing you?
Now… how does it affect the Strix mission?
I know that for many readers and for Twilight himself, making the family experience "real" for Yor and Anya would make the farce more believable, so it would be almost impossible to be discovered.
But, I think this would also cause more problems for Twilight. For starters, this man can barely deal with being a spy, and being a full-time father. Adding a "real" relationship will require more of he. The relationship of both works is because it is an agreement of both.
The two hide their jobs, but both know that their relationship is false, and that one needed a respective partner to cover up their work. This means that they do not feel pressured between them and that the agreement can be "fair", even if they have no idea what the other is hiding. Yor thinks she's using Loid to be an assassin, and Twilight thinks she's using an ordinary woman for her fake family.
And although it is implied that they date each other, and they divide the housework, it is clear that they are not demanding with each other. They both genuinely value and appreciate what he brings to the table. Obviously, Yor is not the type of person who would demand more than necessary from Loid, she is very humble and notices his constant tiredness… besides being naive and believing his ridiculous excuses.
In my opinion...
I think the real reason behind Twilight's attitude is due to two things.
The first is, his fear of unpredictable situations. Something that characterizes Twilight as a spy is his ability to predict unfavorable scenarios, having a plan of action in case that situation arises. This could be the first time that a woman "indirectly" confesses, being in love with him, without even having thought about it. He never considered "conquering" Yor after their agreement as a fake couple happened.
For him, Yor is a sweet and kind person by nature, but she is carried away by insecurities. He never expected that she would feel genuinely jealous of Fiona, much less that she would feel bad about the attention he gave her.
For Twilight, not having seen this surely made him feel cornered — "How could such an important detail escape him?"
Starting a "real" (pretend) relationship, where Yor is in love and he (apparently) doesn't feel anything. It gives him a sense of control, since that's "what a spy would do"—play those feelings to good use for the mission.
However, the theory does not always work if the practice is poorly executed… Which brings me to the second point
Twilight's true feelings
I think part of Twilight's feelings ended up confusing him. I am sure that the whirlwind of emotions that he felt at that moment were the cause of his opting for a "honey trap". Clearly, that was not the best strategy to apply.
Although Twilight wants to convince that he is "the perfect spy" —Someone who discarded his identity, his emotions and aspirations. History has shown us in a thousand and one ways that this is not true. He is a very emotional person, who is affected by the well-being of others. And this has gotten deeper with Yor and Anya
However, he knows that having feelings for someone exposes him to harm and makes him vulnerable. That is why being a spy has been the perfect armor to avoid having to interact, in this particular case, with any woman. All his love ties have been false until now
Still, Yor has become someone special to him. Because she is not an enemy or a target. But her ally in the Strix mission (Although she doesn't know it) this has allowed his to trust her.
Also, Yor may be the "first woman" that Twilight really likes for who she is. Since, his missions surely made him be with women that the real him is not attracted to. (Topic I would like to talk about in another post)
However, Yoru always makes him feel nervous when they has any physical approach, he defends her and he always thinks of her comfort. The problem is that he is afraid to admit any attraction to her, and he prefers to put the mission first so as not to question himself. Because admitting it would be exposing himrself emotionally, and this is his biggest fear. He didn't even question what he really felt about that confession? He reacted as a "spy", not as a "person".
But, it is evident that his feelings end up boycotting his reasoning. Ending up doing impulsive and… clumsy actions
Tumblr media
Here, I think his greatest pain is not even that deadly kick, but perhaps the disappointment he has in himself. On the one hand, because he feels that he made an emotional misreading, and two, because he "got carried away" to the point that Yor "accidentally" rejected him.
This is when he begins to notice that being close to Yor has unbalanced him, because he no longer has the ability to think strategically with them, he is not capable of being that cold and calculating spy.
It is clear that Twilight is not yet ready to let go of his "spy" facet, and this will continue to sabotage him until he makes clear the difference between the mission and his own feelings. And for this he must overcome his fear of loving other people, for fear of losing them
Tumblr media
Bonus+
And maybe… deep down… a part of his buried heart… raced thinking "Does Yor like me?!". He sometimes acts like a teenager. And maybe… The idea that he and Yor are real spouses haunts his deep thoughts (After all, I don't hesitate for a second to propose it) ❤ But this is my Twiyor side speaking ❤
.
It should be clarified that: I'm sure Twilight is not a bad man. He has shown, value and appreciate Yor for who she is, and respects her a lot, never wants to make her uncomfortable. But sometimes his emotions and the priority of the mission completely blind him and he ends up doing things he regrets.
An example is when he mistrust her. He clearly felt bad from the beginning, and felt worse at the end. I am sure that if he had started a real relationship with Yor (within the mission) it would have ended up affecting him, and feeling much more guilty of manipulating a woman as noble and sweet as Yor is. And this would have affected the mission more, because surely he would have to live repressing more guilt than he already feels
But, drama aside. This is a comedy, and we have to laugh!!!
Tumblr media
Knowing that Yor can take a ball off the planet. Twilight and Yuri are lucky that Yor hasn't destroyed them to pieces.
So, I'm sorry Twilight but you deserved that kick and spend a whole week being the chin monster.
Tumblr media
One of the best scenes that Endo has given us
Moral: You cannot seduce your fake wife as long as your intentions are not sincere, and she is drunk.

ghost au
Again shoutout to this post
For now im skipping 🔴👁️ hyde and 🟢👁️ jekyll since theres more info on it
Theres also another ghost au by @/bansheeoftheforest ^^ dont remember that much about it from discord except the fact that jekyll is a singular ghost there, since its been a long time. But if anyone's interested you can check it out too, i think theres also a fanfic on it.
Anyway! Heres a VERY old drawing (like, 2021 probably) i had to edit it bc the quality is dogshit.
Tumblr media
So yeah its pretty old i dont remember much but here we go In this au, i didnt really made a particular reason for their/his death, either something like accidental poisoning, murder or just soul leaving the body as its in a coma state.
Rachel and Robert notice that Jekyll is missing, and at the same time weird things happenning in Society of Mad Scientists. Like is there was a ghost or perhaps a poltergeist.?
So of course, they go to Maijabi, the only person in Society who specialises on that kind of thing
Tumblr media
He investigates, and does notice that there is infact a new ghost in society. He only needs for it/them to cooparate. He does something like a summoning ritual, and gives Rachel and Robert mixture that would let them see this ghost.
(new addition ) Meanwhile ghost Henry dosent want to show up, but Edward does. He wants to come in contact with Rachel . They summon them, and as they see that it's Jekyll, they are in shock, but its only the start, as ghost turns around they notice Hyde. And at this point they are stunned and dont know what to say, is this real? Are they dead? Why? And most importantly, why the hell they are connected into one?
I remember also imagining j&h ghost being kinda zomby like for some reason, like when R, L, and M summon them i imagined them saying something like:
Я ø b ë r t ЯR æ ç h ê l
As they try to reach their shocked friends. (Ooo body horror too 👻)
The first summoning ends, and Rachel and Robert dont know how to process what they have just witnessed.
Maijabi is also stunned, he remarks he has never seen anything like that before
R and L dont understand how that could be explained, Robert is especially in denial. As they calm down a little with a cup of tea, Maijabi tries to explain what he thinks about this, but the main conclusion is that Jekyll and Hyde are dead (duh XD) and thats not some sort of illusion. He knows an actual ghost when he sees one. Lanyon and Rachel cant believe it, their precious friend is dead, for Rachel its even worse because Hyde is also.
On the second summoning Maijabi finally gets to examine this strange case. His conclusion from this time, is that its not two souls tied together, but instead one soul split in two, and yet, not fully.
(new addition) And then its most likely Hyde is the one to tell the truth, Jekyll is so stubborn he wouldn't tell it even when hes dead.
Now that i think about it, i recall they are all goopy and zomby like because their soul is literally falling apart (since its already split).
The ending, as i recall, was something like Jekyll finally accepting himself, and his soul becoming one again, by that they fuse and Jekyll becomes fully himself again, and finding peace. And Lanyon, Rachel and lodgers as they find out of course – mourning.
(New addition) but if his body was in a coma state, after fusing, he would wake up, but finally fully himself again(could be an alternative ending if them fully dying is too sad ^^).
Thats it with the au , but on topic, of back then and still i believe that before drinking the amongus potion™ back in University, and basically his whole life he was fully himself, except for the fact he had a facade, but after drinking the potion, at first it was still his self, but with time they sapatated more and more. Now rarely able to control each other (red eyed hyde and green eyed jekyll), they can only watch and feel physical sences of the other half while they are in control.
Well, at least thats from my logical standpoint, but in general despite that, i still see them as sapatate, for example i really like Hyde but kinda neutral towards Jekyll, not negative, just don't like him just as much even tho they're the same person.

Blinded Me With Science (Part 5)
Masterlist
Previous
Word Count: 1.2k
Synopsis: Teasing toes the line into flirting; You and Fred have an argument about Dungeons and Dragons
CW: mild language, flustered nerd flirting, talk of germs
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe you’d even entertain the thought of playing a game with so much math again. Traitor.” Fred spit his joke at you as you collaborated on your article regarding germs-by-class. You made the unfortunate mistake of bringing up The Hellfire Club’s generous contribution and all you observed that night.
“I’ve told you before, I can do addition and subtraction,” you rolled your eyes at his accusation. “Besides, that guy..uh, Gareth, was there to help me figure out what number to put where.”
“Oh yes. Can’t forget about Gareth,” he said in a sardonic tone.
“What is that even supposed to mean?” You asked, completely oblivious to what he could be getting at.
“Nothing.” He said with a slight smirk but when you continued looking at him with confusion, he dropped his shoulders and tried to push it aside. “Really. Nevermind.”
You wrestled with asking a follow up or demanding to know, as he had somewhat piqued your curiosity. However, you also knew that Fred was stubborn and probably wouldn’t crack easily, so maybe it was best to just let it go. “Anyway…” you tried to pivot the subject back to what you were initially talking about, “the results are in from the experiment.”
“And?”
“The hypothesis wasn’t right on the money, but the freshmen definitely had the dirtiest--most scientifically bacteria-filled, I should say--hands.”
“Well of course,” Fred snorted back, “not much surprise there, right? That’s why it was the hypothesis. It’s the obvious conclusion from observing the unwashed masses.”
You pursed your lips, trying not to give in and smile at his jab. You were still trying to act as professional as possible. You had assured him that you would approach this without judgment, as a scientist, when he was worried about contributing his own sample. You couldn’t go back on that and ruin the facade now. “Right. But, surprisingly, age did not equal maturity and the seniors were in second place.”
“So you’re telling me that it’s the little kids and Eddie Munson and his cohorts? Color me shocked.” He barely raised an eyebrow in response, flatly and sardonically taking another jab.
“Fine. Fine! Yes, you could draw those conclusions from this study, but remember: it’s a small sample size, so it doesn’t really justify your bias.”
“Me? Biased? Whatever gave you that idea?” He asked, playfully, so you responded in kind.
“Oh, just your strong opinions about, y’know, everything.”
“Hey, I’ll have you know that those ‘opinions’ come from hefty research.”
“Oh, do they now?”
“Yes,” he insisted and you were more amused with his straight-laced demeanor, knowing he didn’t particularly mean it, “they’re not just some baseless ideas I come up with on my own. They’re logical deductions from facts and data. What do you take me for?”
“Me, apparently. God, I’m rubbing off on you. ‘Facts and data,’” you quoted him with a scoff.
“And what would be so bad about that?” He asked, “To have you rub off on me.”
You hadn’t noticed how incredibly close he was standing until now. The playful banter had made you unaware, and now you were mere inches apart. The realization flustered you and you almost automatically leaped back, out of self-preservation. Instead, you tried to play it cool and took a slight step away from him, nervous to alert him to how he truly made you feel. “Yeah, I guess…I mean, I don’t know,” you muttered a half-baked answer to his rhetorical question, then quickly covered it up with, “If we start talking about data, we might actually begin valuing numbers and then that is a slippery slope to liking math, I bet. Can’t have that,” you joked.
“No, can’t have that,” he said, and his agreement put you more at ease, thinking that the awkwardness had passed and that you could move on to something else. But then he looked at you strangely, an emotion you couldn’t read flashed behind his eyes as they lingered on you just a bit too long.
*~~~*
Despite Fred’s ribbing, you agreed to another session of Dungeons and Dragons, or ‘D&D,’ as Eddie insisted was the ‘cool’ way to refer to it. “You can come along again, if you want,” you posited to him when he mildly objected to you going again a couple weeks after your initial game.
“I know I said anytime you wanted to scope out a Satanic cult, Y/N but c’mon, you can’t be serious. It doesn’t have that much appeal.”
“You only think that because you didn’t actually play, Mr. ‘Conscientious Observer.’ Maybe if you take off your little reporter’s cap and join us, you might have a little fun.”
“Good lord, Y/N. Whatever made you think I was interested in fun?” He gave you that signature deadpan look you’d become accustomed to and secretly favored.
“Fine,” you shrugged, “I don’t mind going by myself.”
“Or…” he drew out the one-syllable word far longer than it needed to be, “you could just not go.”
“I’m not really doing anything better.”
“We could, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, study for math. That would be better.”
You raised your hand to his forehead with fake alarm, “Are you ill? I can’t believe Fred Benson of all people would say such a thing. I’m not so sure you’re my Fred.”
‘My Fred’ echoed in his head and caused a dull ache in his chest. He wanted to be nothing more, and hearing you say that out loud made him weak in the knees. He lost himself for a moment and then, in an effort to save face and pull himself back to reality, swatted your hand away. “That’s my point. That’s just how bad this is and how much I wouldn’t want to go.”
“Oh my gosh, then don’t!” You had become exasperated at this point. You had offered to have him join because you liked his company, but didn’t need him to go, and he was putting up one hell of a fight. “They were all plenty nice last time. I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
That jogged his memory, causing him to relive the way Gareth looked at you and talked to you. Maybe he needed to insert himself as a barrier after all. But he couldn’t look like he was worried about that, so he pretended to acquiesce to you instead. “Jeez, if you’re gonna get all bent out of shape and mad about it, I guess I could come. If it means that much to you.”
“It doesn’t. You’re free to do whatever you want. I don’t want to put you out and make you bored.” You weren’t sure what he could possibly want at this point and he was hurt that you were willing to go without him, that you could just forget about him that easily.
“I…ugh, I’ll think about it,” he finally offered. He felt like this was a compromise: he could save face and appease you at the same time. You, however, worried about trapping him somewhere he didn’t want to be; but the argument was over, for now.

Alright so. I have a theory about ENA.
(Spoilers under the cut.)
So basically, in the trailer we see 3 different "Ena"s. One of them has the form that we are used to, half red half white, probably the playable one.
Then there's a more humanlike one, who appears very sick (which is fair because there is a large hole in her torso)
And then there's one like the first but without any arms and also with a bright green and cracked-looking face.
So I have a theory that they're all the same Ena. *wow shocking* BUT bear with me
Later in the trailer we see a screen showing (probably) game footage in which Ena's red arm is throwing about her white one. This is the same arm that's missing in the video showcasing the track "The Purge Event". And if we look closer under her hat in that video... it's green.
So I reckon the cracked-looking Ena is the playable Ena but just in the future. Some bad things could happen to our playable Ena and she might die like in the trailer.
But what about the humanlike one? where does she fit in? Well here's the thing - she might be the past version of our playable Ena. Here are the logical leaps I made when coming to that conclusion:
So in Temptation Stairway (bear with me here) there is a QR code above the mannequin expanse which translates to "forget your past". This implies that one or more characters have some sort of past that they are meant to forget *wow shocking*.
What if this "past" is a life as a human? With the future already taken up by the cracked Ena who presumably dies, and the present by the playable Ena, that leaves humanlike Ena to be in the past.
"But Newmoon," I hear you ask, "how could the humanlike Ena have undergone such a drastic transformation into the playable Ena?" WELL I'M GLAD YOU ASKED BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA EITHER. But I have some vague speculations as to the specifics, tying into some established stuff.
So in Temptation Stairway, it's pretty well established that S1 Ena had some sort of "debt", which was cleared at the end in accordance with Moony's bet. This was likely portrayed by Ena's blue side turning yellow.
Here's my speculation: since deities are a clearly established part of canon, what if one or more of said deities could pick up a dying human stranded in their world (for example, the humanlike Ena) and turn them into an Ena in exchange for a debt in the form of one side of their personality? For DBBQ Ena, this debt could be her salesperson side, and she attempts to pay it off using what sales she makes.
"But Newmoon," I hear you ask, "how does this character connect to S1 Ena?" Well here's the thing: she doesn't! The Shepherd implied that there are multiple Enas in existence, presumably sufficient to cause a significant annoyance to her. "Ena" is not a name so much as it is a species, perhaps, and S1 Ena and DBBQ Ena were previously entirely different people.
"But Newmoon," I hear you pestering me with questions get on with it, "what about Power of Potluck? After Temptation Stairway, S1 Ena's sad side came back!" Well that's where you're wrong - I believe that PoP happened before the events of Temptation Stairway. Here are two reasons why:
Number one: In Extinction Party and Temptation Stairway, Ena has an additional horizontal strap on her clothes, which is not present in Auction Day. Nor is it present in Power of Potluck, which eliminates the possibility of it being a last-minute design change. Since the time in S1 is likely linear, and Temptation Stairway is considered a "season finale" by Joel, PoP likely happened in a time-frame outside of the series, before or after Auction Day but not after Extinction Party.
Number two: Moony's form appears to have reverted back to how it was prior to the result of her wish. "but what about the hand?" how else do you think she got things into her geometric inclusion.
"But Newmoon what would be the point of Ena's sad side being her debt? she can't use profits from it to pay any deities" idk maybe the deities are cruel stop asking questions.
And there you have it! My theory that is almost certainly wrong! Please correct me on anything and please also dump your own theories in the comments/reblogs/whatever I did not sleep anywhere near enough last night

pre-internet cancel culture
youtube
I saw this video, but I feel there's an important distinction to make here. Cancel culture is not, "I'm going to tell people to hate you and you'll be hated."
No, it's more insidious than that. Because these people will first try to pass themselves off as "just" being "anti-racist," or "anti-sexist." At the surface level, every single generation, they will be in a position to impress that on younger people, instruct them to behave that way and impress that on people more inexperienced and younger than them, and that will become the norm and status quo.
They institute histrionic, hyper flaggelant sentiments cherry pick and choose which history they teach in the absence of other facts of history, strong arm young people through these events and then lead them through to their preferred interpretations on how to feel about it, and then "form their own conclusions" based on this misleading, very emotionally charged, very peer pressure, very hyper vigilant atmosphere. And young people experiencing this by their peers, led to believe that unlike the generations older than them, they're "aware" of the prejudices and bigotry, they're Woke and Aware, they're going to Change the World(tm) by not "making the mistakes of their forefathers."
They start seeing the generation older than them as either complacent with a defacto and default evil, white supremacist and male chauvinistic culture, as they're taught, even in very progressive places they see as ultimately just "ruled by milquetoast ineffectual white men," and rebelling against this caricature that does not exist.
And the most horrifying aspect of all is the way in which they use sex and the way the sexes relate to force this line of conversation as the norm. They hypercharge women and girls with this. The romantic interpretations delivered via Feminism then gives the female peers a bar and standard of logic by which to analyze things according to the fiction of privilege theory being the proper way to determine if things are bigoted or not, in one way or another, and then it's a race to the bottom of the simping boys trying to fit this mold of overcompensation in order to not register as an unacceptable unsuitable mate.
Cancel Culture isn't "you better do what I say or I'll mean tweet you and you'll go out of business." Cancel Culture is the indoctrination and emotional manipulation and deliberately slanted way of educating young people about history, cultures, demographics and etc. and using them as shock troops in a culture war.
Businesses have feared this forever. Before it was secular sociological shit, it was fear of flash in the pan preachers that showed up, rode the waves of popular faith and started new religious movements, that told their flock what to do and guided their behavior on what to think, why, and more importantly, what to hate and not buy. Whether it's rationalizing their distaste for the supernatural by a culture war on magic in comic books, or trying to browbeat how art and literature are made in order to be ALLOWED to be marketed and sold, as Sweet Baby Inc. and similar have been doing, trying to gatekeep and dictate culture.
What the woman up there is talking about is not mean tweets and flash in the pan hate protests with a few astro turfed handlers, it's conspirator tenured college professors, their network of political activists that converge and discuss on how to be subversive to business and government institutes and finance, printing off a million information cascades academic articles on how X-thing is bad that just so happens to fit the profile of what a business is selling, and then threatening that business with the wrath of the bleating, overcompensating mob, now trying very hard not to have it be made a sign of bigotry to buy their product.
And as an example, I point to the Harry Potter games. They wanted Rowling to champion their cause, because female famous person, feminist, clearly she had to carry water for their group and organization. But when she said, 'no,' to the idea that the only thing that makes a woman is the idea of a woman, no biology required, suddenly that was interpreted as hatred of transwomen and a threat to their movement. She became persona nongrata, somehow a right-wing bigot and advocate for genocide.
So then the astro turfers started going out with the agritprop social media, water cooler talking about how Rowling was a massive antisemite, how her franchise' game leaned "heavily" into the antisemitic messaging (Jews use a ram horn, goblins use a horn, there was a massive hate crime against Jews on the date of the same for goblins!) and this that and the other thing.
Gullible, emotionally charged fangirls fell overthemselves to overcompensate and make clear, "there's no tolerance for NAZIS!" and that the useful idiots would draw lines in the sand and turn on whomever didn't toe the line to not be a "bad person." You had better not have consumed that media, or else you're a NAZI-ADJACENT person!!!!oneoneone. And they'd cultivated that population to normalize hate-gossip about Bad People, to allow the more belligerent of them to treat them like bigots that threatened others with violence for their race or religion, and if they weren't going to participate in that bullying, at least turn a blind eye to it and go neutral to allow it to happen.
THAT is cancel culture. Not some hash tag.

Do you think the show will describe Lestat and Gabrielle relationship as romantic? And how would you prefer their relationship to be portrayed?
I absolutely do think that they’re going to go the incest route 😭😭 Just based on how Rollin Jones talks about Gabrielle and Lestat’s relationship and the way that they changed Antoine to more resemble Gabrielle over Nicolas, I think they’re going to go for it all the way. I actually get the impression that Rollin is rlly excited about that aspect of their relationship which is, well, interesting? Lol.
But honestly? I think it would be kind of weak if they didn’t address or include it at all. I v much support their choice to take away the romance between Louis and Claudia bcus I didn’t think that was necessary in the book and didn’t find that Anne Rice did a good job writing it in a way that would well, mean smth. The only point to it was “well Claudia’s an adult now” which is expressed in better ways through out the book anyway, so it just felt like uncomfortable shock value for the sake of it. I think the show handled their relationship really well, they removed the romance but still retained some of the original gross out factor by having that “which one of you are going to fuck me?” Line and making a point of reminding us that bcus of their nature as vampires Claudia’s familial role to Louis is ever changing depending on what she feels like she wants it to be. It’s off putting and uncomfortable, having these implications along with the daughter to sister thing, while being interesting and thematically satisfying, which the romance in the book wasn’t. One change I actually like that the show made!
I believe that things like incest have a place in fiction, but not necessarily a good one if they’re just thrown in bcus “oh but taboo relationships are a genre convention in gothic lit!” With no logic or thought put in beyond that. Anne Rice did a slightly better job with the incest in tvl than in iwtv, but it still felt lackluster and out of nowhere to me. She seems to just enjoy throwing uncomfortable topics into her books bcus she can, which is disappointing bcus a lot of the time u can see the potential that it could’ve had. I think Gabrielle and Lestat’s relationship is conceptually very interesting, incest and all. Lestat and Gabrielle’s strange line crossing Mother and son relationship is rooted in a lot of things. The way vampirism demolishes traditional familial dynamics and changes self perception, perception of sex and romance, and societal expectations in general. Gabrielle’s envy for Lestat and unhealthy desire to live through him sometimes, Lestat’s trauma inflicted desperation to be nurtured and mentored with no one to do that for him, and so on.
The strangeness of their dynamic in summarization comes from Gabrielle’s desire to be a companion, or a brother, or a friend to Lestat once she’s a vampire and Lestat’s conflicting desire to be nurtured and mothered by Gabrielle as his son. Lestat wants an eternal mommy and Gabrielle wants a friend who understands her life experiences, and so they clash. And if they’re gonna have gross incest-y kisses about it to make this boundary crossing come across in interesting ways? Sure I’m cool with that. Anne Rice didn’t do it well in my opinion, since she only explored these concepts minimally, but if it’s done well I can see it being great. I think incest as a thematic tool can absolutely work, but if it’s just there to be there and say nothing, then I want nothing to do with it.
In conclusion if Rollin and the amc writers handle the tvl incest in a way that’s similarly thoughtful to their handling of Claudia and Louis’s dynamic then Im looking forward to seeing it, lol. But if they just throw it in for shock value, like they have done with other topics and scenes, then eughhh get it away from me. And I don’t think I’d be satisfied if they did away with the incest vibes completely for the sake of sanitation, but I doubt they’ll do that anyway.
Thank you for sending the ask aaaaaaa!! I have so many iwtv and tvc thoughts I’m blushing and kicking my feet over how ppl wanna hear them! This is smth I’ve thought a lot about unfortunately lol
