"Does it make sense?"
I think, ultimately, the thing that it comes down to for why I just can't see "the Jedi are intentionally written as dogmatic/dispassionate" or "Obi-Wan failed Anakin" or "the Jedi brought their own downfall" reads as valid anymore is because... it makes no sense that George Lucas - of all people - would write that.
Like, this is the guy who preaches the same lessons and philosophies that the Jedi do in the Prequels, every chance he gets (sometimes going all the way back to American Graffiti).
So ask yourself:
Does it make sense that he would intentionally make the characters to whom he gave his own values "dogmatic"?
He's a self-proclaimed "methodist-Buddhist". The Jedi are based on Buddhist monks.
youtube
Does it make sense that the buddhist would write a story about space-buddhists being "emotionless", "devoid of compassion" and "at fault for their own genocide"?
Lucas had an apprenticeship, that turned into a friendly/brotherly bond with his mentor Francis Ford Coppola. Their personalities were completely opposite (Coppola was more outgoing, George was more prudent) but they worked in sync, they completed each other.
youtube
Do you really think that this guy's intended narrative would be that "Qui-Gon would've been better-suited for Anakin as a teacher than Obi-Wan because the latter was prudent/strict and too different from the more passionate Anakin"?
George lays Anakin's downfall on Anakin's shoulders almost every time he talks about it. It's a corruption that was caused from within, he would be able to love without getting attached if he had joined the Jedi at an earlier age, but he didn't so his attachment and greed results in his turn to the Dark Side.
youtube
So does it make sense that Lucas' narrative would be that "the Jedi (aka EXTERNAL forces) pushed, denied and failed Anakin that they caused him to turn" instead of "it was Anakin's own fault because he wasn't able to let go"?
He has said multiple times that, aside from Anakin's downfall, the Prequels center on the Republic's downfall, never mentioned the Jedi once when describing what the Prequels are about.
youtube
If the Prequels were actually about "the fall of the Jedi and how they lost their way", wouldn't he have brought it up once? And would he really have focused so much on the Senate and politics rather than adding more development to characters like Mace and Yoda?
I think the answer to all of these is "no".
Here's one more: Lucas stated so many times that this was a fairy tale, that all six Star Wars movies are meant for kids. The situation of the Prequels is more complex than the one in the Original Trilogy, but before, during and after the Prequels Lucas confirmed that the Star Wars morality is binary, it is black and white, good vs bad.
Would he really intentionally make the Prequels this subversive story wherein "actually, if you stop and think about it, the good guys are really the bad guys"?
Or is it just that:
We live in a time where movie audiences expect the "good guy" to be individualistic, flawed and non-conformist, and the Jedi are a community of nigh-incorruptible champions of good who've already completed their character arcs.
So the adults (aka not the target audience) who watched the Prequels at the time were turned off by these characters who they perceived as "holier than thou", having been conditioned by the times they lived in to think that there are skeletons in "Mr. Perfect's" closet.
Thus, they retconned the films (via comics, books, games and episodes) so that they could enjoy the Prequels more, and did so by:
injecting more realistic "gray morality" themes into the films and
projecting an oppressive "boys don't cry" philosophy onto the Jedi.
For lack of a better metaphor, "they put a skeleton in Mr. Perfect's closet so that they could finally find his existence bearable, and keep bringing up that skeleton to this day."

Daily Robin #8
Tumblr media
BOO, daily Robin jumpscare!
I almost posted this one without the timelapse because it's kind of embarrassing but here it goes;
it's not intended to be used as a guide by anyone as I have no idea what I'm doing whenever I draw.
This was a drawing I did not intend to color at first so it's kind of rushed and scuffed, pay no mind.
Also this drawing is the start of the second week of daily Robins, I'd like to take this as an opportunity to thank the usual people that reblogs and/or likes the stuff I upload, it means a lot to me and puts a smile on my face, even if I don't reply in any ways (idk how and I don't reblog reblogs as to keep my blog clean in a sense, still a bit confused as to how Tumblr works, I'll figure it out eventually), I read every tags you guys reblog my stuff with, so thanks a lot for the nice messages some of y'all take the time to put, they're very enjoyable and gives me the strength to keep drawing on a daily basis :).

Just found out I didn't sign up for a practical course that I should do in my first semester. Now I have to write emails and hope that I can still get in in time. I have less than three days for this all to sort itself out. I'm dying...

Fallen petals bed the ground... all is preordained. And what is seen through the omniscia, is destined to be realized. Now that all elements of the past have taken their places, the future sits within my reach... as clear as daylight!

I think being on the internet has given a lot of leftists a drastically skewed view of how popular our beliefs are.
Most politicians support Israel because most Americans support Israel - only 8% of the population thinks the US should publicly criticize Israel.
Bernie didn't lose the primaries because the Democrats were just too scared of having a real progressive in office so they rigged the election, he lost because socialists are the least-electable people in America and because fewer people voted for him. That's how elections work. ( In b4 'but everyone else dropped out in a coordinated effort to concentrate votes behind biden!' - yeah, if your candidate can only win when the vote is split eight ways that's not a viable candidate. And I voted for Bernie!)
As of 2021 only about 15% of Americans support defunding the police, 47% would like to see increased police funding, and the number of people who think violent crime is a "very big" problem jumped 20 percentage points up to 61% in one year.
And it's just really frustrating to see internet leftists being super condescending as though everybody should already know everything and be on board with this stuff or else they're a Bad Person, driving people away from leftist ideology or making people too afraid to ask questions lest they be branded as a Centrist or worse, a Liberal, or refusing to engage in politics until they're being specifically catered to even though that would be political suicide (and would therefore not accomplish anything anyway.)
And like. It's fine to think that people who support Israel or more police funding are bad people, frankly I think a lot of them are. But I think even more are just misinformed or not really informed about alternatives at all. And not everyone is in the headspace to do education or outreach, but when you're only 10% of the population I think you need to make a choice about whether you want to feel good about being right on the internet or whether you want to be effective. It's frustrating to have to walk someone step-by-step through why genocide is bad, but it's a lot more likely to change minds than shouting at someone that they're obviously just a genocide-loving racist is.

y'all gotta learn to like. be polite to writers- stop demanding part two's or demanding to be tagged if a part two happens - it might seem harmless but its really fucking annoying, especially to someone whos automatic response to having things demanded of them is "get fucked im not doing it"
most of the people asking to be tagged if i make a part two to that eddie-in-the-back-of-hoppers-car fic have been perfectly lovely about it, using language that doesnt imply theyre expecting anything but instead are hoping for it which is nice!! i find that stuff a little more motivating because it lets me know that people do want to read my work!!
but anyone whos only commented "part two" or "i need part two" or "tag me" with no accompanying message, keep activating my "fuck you" attitude which is frustrating for both me (who is actually somewhat keen to add onto it) and others (who are looking forward to a potential add-on)
i know no ones likely intending to be a dick or to be annoying but thats what it is - youre demanding the time and energy of someone who doesnt have a lot of that. I stress myself out enough with my own writing endeavours (*looking at the fantasy series ive been working on for 8 years*), i dont need strangers on the internet thinking they get to pressure me for content because they've mistaken it for a compliment
im not saying dont ask to be tagged in future parts, or dont ask for a part two - just be nice about it. remember that youre talking to an actual person who has a life outside of tumblr.
