Recently, after the usual family Christmas squabbles, I've been too emotionally exhausted to talk to my best friend.

I find it funny that people are so quick to say "we are not family. We just share DNA." Or whatever than to admit they made a mistake. They wronged a family member. People would rather deny the existence of family than to fulfill their obligations as relatives. What does that tell you?

What would you think if someone were to choose to a bottle of wine over you and you don't particularly remember being so nasty to them that they would easily think a bottle of wine is worth more than you? Would you begin to wonder if they perhaps have an unhealthy liking for wine?

I feel like we don't talk enough about how difficult family can be.
