✦ Baizhu

The soft touch on your cheek was offset by a rough press against the cold wall. It was a curious feeling, a strange one - seeing him so aroused was rare, so you didn't mind savouring it. He whispers in your ear, "You're as beautiful as the day I met you," a frank and soft confession that bared its soul in a breath. You run your hand down his back, reaching under his shirt and feeling the hot skin. It's gentle. Pleasant. "And you're also stubborn - I want to sleep," you scoff. Baizhu doesn't let go.

✦ Kaeya

Keia ran his fingertips along your thighs, slowly stepping on you. You didn't even know why you were pivoting - maybe he was too close, maybe he was too insistent, but you jammed your back into the wall, and it was only then that Kaeya's froze. "I love it when a mouse has nowhere to run," he hummed, kissing your neck passionately. There was something subtle about that kiss, hard to understand, and one could only wonder what Keia meant: lust, pleasure, recognition, or… sadness?

✦ Kazuha

You pulled the young man towards you yourself, not calculating the distance and pressing your back against the wall. Kazuha, oddly enough, liked it. He smiled, examined his immobilised victim, then hummed and kissed his forehead: "Not afraid?" - he asked affectionately. "Of what?" - You're perplexed. "Of not being able to leave. I don't want you to be… well… afraid of me." A smile. He's a very neat boy, even in such a ridiculous situation thinking about being safe.

✦ Chongyun

He gave in to the heat, ardently and freely - kissing you until you felt sick, stepping on you and touching you until your mind was overcome with fleeting embarrassment, but the heat rushing to your cheeks was just begging to come out. Chongyun greedily pressed you into the wall, resting his hands on either side of your shoulders, and lowered his lips to your neck, to your collarbones, sometimes sucking and licking his lips greedily. It seems that if he started to speak, only one confession would come out of his lips: "I want you."

✦ Venti

"Well how funny you are," you casually fell down, stumbling and banging your head ridiculously against the wall. Venti put up a hand, seeing that you were ready to cry, and smiled. No, that won't do. - Turn around and face the wall. Come on. Good girl! Now…" he brushed your hair away with a light, slow touch of his hand to make it more comfortable to kiss your neck vertebrae, "now relax. You're in good hands - God's hands."

✦ Capitano

He touched you where you didn't seem to think to touch yourself - exploring your body, hovering over you or raising you to his level, examining it without removing the heavy mask. You were nervous, being too embarrassed - the Capitano did it all on his own, on a regular basis attacking like this, sometimes being that selfish, most striking creature, focused only on your sensations. It gave… a sense of pleasure and love.

whats your opinion on caleb and evelyn (at least from what very little we know of them-)

imo the whole caleb clawthorne thing is like. one of the most pointless things in the show ever

I have called them and their connection to Belos "TOH's final trick". TOH has a single trick up its sleeve that is great for fanfic writers and TERRIBLE for a narrative. They introduce really compelling relationships and ideas and then they never do anything with them. It happens with Amity and Luz, Amity and Willow, the Hexide Squad and the Coven System, Hunter and Belos, etc. etc. All of these concepts present tantalizing issues that one could really delve in deep to and find a lot of meaning... But TOH isn't interested. It is more interested in a blog about how deep Amity's character is implied to be rather than doing anything with that depth, hence why so many people hooked onto how awful the confrontation with her parents would eventually be and then the show itself just... Has her in like three minutes of that episode and her confrontation doesn't feel like the main point of it even if it's the climax. And then it's effectively over and any issue between Lumity is never brought up again.

Caleb and Evelyn are the same but with a bit of FNAF storytelling thrown in. The pictures are vague after all so people can interpret them in different ways for what they mean. The cast has been coy as to the actual events. It's a multiple choice backstory for your villain that ranges from irredeemable monster to sympathetic villain. That way the show can claim to have a complex villain that doesn't technically invalidate the fact that they have no interest in writing a complex villain, nor do they want to need to.

But it was also one straw too many. Lumity getting together paid off in some way that old narrative baggage of Amity's, even if less powerfully than it could have. Hunter being possessed and fighting off Belos doesn't have the weight it should and I have problems with how selfish the reasoning is rather than ideological but it is a payoff to that relationship. However, a genuinely real amount of time is spent in S3, and S2, building up that Belos is something more than a genocidal, egotistical asshole. Caleb and Evelyn are a LOT of this. So what's the payoff?

There is none. Beating him isn't an ideological victory. They don't come up like Lief did for beating Andrias to pay that off. In fact, they come up less in the final fight than they do during the fight in King's Tide where the heroes LOSE. So they spent some of the very limited time they had to wrap up their story on a subplot about Belos' backstory that doesn't actually inform us of anything, doesn't affect anything and has no payoff except the most obvious one.

It's literally Willow's story except for your PRIMARY ANTAGONIST'S BACKSTORY.

The fact that the majority of the meat of it is done in a really just AWFULLY animated set piece who's literal writing is boilerplate at best does not help it at all. The best parts of this mechanically are the portraits in Hollow Mind and they're vague and that's IT. Otherwise, it's clunky for the most part. I'll give the moment when monster Belos sees Caleb as he tries to take on a new form is neat but it tells us nothing and feels out of character in the end that he'd give enough of a shit to be haunted by his brother, especially after he's killed his brother so many times. Honestly, the Golden Guards looking like Caleb even NOW just makes me think the Collector is right: He likes hurting his brother. Why else would he not finally stop after the hundredth betrayal? Unless he gets off on the moment of their betrayal I guess.

It's just not good and a casual fan is going to like it even less because they won't really absorb and think the portraits so to them, it's just one really awkward sequence in the first special, an eerie sequence that doesn't add to anything in the second and then is sir not appearing in the third. That's not engaging.

Since little of it is engaging, it fails to function as a trick. After all, any magician will tell you that everything is about misdirection in their craft. Without it, a trick becomes nothing but smoke and mirrors instead of magic.

~Idia Shroud~

Idia's not surprised that you're from Pomefiore. The way you hold your head up high and with how neat and tidy you are, easily give it away. However, he is surprised that someone from Pomefiore fell in love with him of all people.

Idia would typically distance himself from someone from Pomefiore. Believing them to be like Vil, extroverted and simply incapable of understanding a gamer like him.

Though for some reason you gained an interest in this introverted gamer. He considered you quite annoying at first, comparing you to Cater.

It was only when Ortho became friends with you that Idia started to care about you in any way. Hearing Ortho talk about how nice you were piqued Idia's interest.

Soon enough, that simple interest would grow as you and Idia hung out together more. Whether it be playing board games or simply texting each other online, Idia grew more fond of you.

And then, with a growing adoration for you and a few helpful nudges from Ortho, you two became a couple. While he was still terribly awkward, he was glad to have you around.

When it comes to getting intimate with you, Idia is as eager as he is terrified. He gets so overwhelmed by his own thoughts he believes that if he does try to get you in his bed, he'll end up doing something super embarrassing and then he'll be cursed to think about how badly he fumbled before he goes to sleep every night.

So, you'll more than likely be the one to make the first move.

When you tell him that you are a soft dom, he is nothing short of relieved. With you being the one in control, it saves him from the stress and anxiety of somehow fucking up and embarrassing himself. He really doesn't mind, especially if it's the first couple of times you two have sex.

Honestly, he really likes that you're soft. He loves the praise and how kind you are to him. He won't admit it, but he does have quite the big ego.

When you two finally go to have sex, Idia is a bit surprised when you suddenly tell him that you're a little afraid to continue.

Floyd doesn't really care much about where you're from but he really likes your confidence! You talk to him so casually and even when there's times when he makes subtle threats towards you, you just shrug and walk away.

He enjoys your reactions to his teasing. You're flustered expression is always super funny, but there are times where you get back at him and make him flustered too. It's nice to hang around someone who doesn't shy away from him.

Floyd is truly a fun and amazing person when he wants to be. He may not be everyone's first choice for a boyfriend but he's yours.

When you two decide to pursue a romantic relationship you'll more than likely have been friends with Floyd for awhile and by then you'll have figured out how to deal with his chaotic personality and his ever changing moods.

Whenever you both decide to become more intimate, he's very interested when you tell him you're a soft dom. Floyd doesn't care that much about giving up the dominant role to you. He may complain a little bit though.

The first time you two decide to have sex Floyd's excitability can get the better of him. He may end up going a bit too fast and that's when he finds out your a bit scared of sex.

Floyd can't help but laugh a bit. He's not trying to be mean, it's just funny to him. He tells you how cute you are, gettin' all shy, and that there's nothing to worry about. He won't bite~

This may or may not have asked more than once but I wanted to ask— what is your favorite alternate universe or stories of jttw in Tumblr? I've seen the glorious works of Kaijufluffs and kiri with her monkey business (may be some lmk here and there), but so far that's the only things in my list. There was also that one jttw artist and their au but like, it was from the 2015 movie (I think) and somehow integrated w the west pantheon too (their name might've been sun or something)

If you do and can, can you list down ur fav AUS and what you think of them? I've been following ur blog for a while and wanted to ask (but I've just been too shy)

Thanks for the question anon! And yes! There are definitely some fun JTTW aus out there; people on this site are incredibly creative.

So to begin, are you talking about the aus made by @sunny-days-and-warm-mournings? Because I know that they've come up with a number of AUs, and that from what I've seen they're all bangers with all sorts of interesting takes and flavors, from making everyone's favorite monkey more a god of food to a terrifying death deity! As you can imagine this has led to many a stellar design from the whimsical to the horrific for all of these monkey kings, each of which is fully worth checking out. tbh I feel like you should just scroll through their gallery to find them all & will promise that you won't be disappointed.

If you're looking for something a little more lego show flavored, then you should check out @digitaldoeslmk's "by the book au!" Its Monkey King is extremely fun sized, and it's really neat for the way it explores heartfelt sides to MK and friend's stories in a Monkie Kid scenario where JTTW happened according to Wu Cheng'en's story and where reality isn't constantly in danger so we see fun stuff like lion dancing and putting on plays and the warm interactions that come with it (& also where everyone isn't routinely yelling about how awful & incompetent SWK is fsgreafw).

I also have to give a shout-out to @violetvirus for their JTTW cyberpunk au! It's got a very fun and bouncy cartoon vibe to it, and I love how SWK, Zhu Bajie, and Sha Wujing look as robots <3. There's hints of some interesting ways the JTTW scenario works with a cyberpunk setting, as well as some moments of silliness like this banger:

Last but certainly not least, and while its been awhile since he posted, I would definitely recommend checking out @antidotefortheawkward and @antidotefortheawkward-art's blogs for his JTTW AUs! Seriously, his blogs are cornucopias of wonderful JTTW aus, from an actors AU to a triad AU to a Lotus Lantern AU to a post-JTTW JTTW au! Each of these really shows a lot of attention and care for the characters and the details of the world they inhabit from clothing to religion to history, which as you can imagine opens up multiple opportunities for some really lovely, heartfelt, and overall great interactions. A few personal favorites include this comic of an conversation between Sun Wukong and Liu Chenxiang of Lotus Lantern fame:

"I'll slap you" after Brendan tried to look at what he was writing (aka nosey older sibling syndrome)

It's basically a more personal business ledger. Lists of allies, potential businesses and business partners, people he wants to get rid of. Meeting schedules (courtesy of Ollie), talking points for said meetings, and God only knows what else he comes up with

The only person beside Alfie himself to see the inside of that book is Ollie, under Alfie's supervision of course

Keeps it in a lockbox with a gun

"You want to see the book? What the fuck are you on about mate?!"

Mostly writes in larger print instead of cursive because his eyes ain't what they used to be, and looking at cursive gives him an eye strain headache

Definitely had rum spilled on it multiple times

3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?

there are a lot of tropes I fundamentally dislike. soulmate stuff, for one. anything that would require me to write a sex scene, for another. I'm not really into modern AUs either--I don't really see the appeal of putting the characters into a completely different setting divorced from the canon material. if I wanted to write that I would just write my own book.

9. Which fic has been the hardest to write?

well at this moment, race con, because it's the one I'm currently writing, the plot is insane, and it's still over 200k from finishing and I would like to have it in a form that's ready to start posting by may 4th next year. writing is an endurance sport etc

14. What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?

I'll be real I don't remember most of the bad writing advice I come across because I immediately throw that shit out the window. But I feel like most advice I've gotten about characters and character building has been bad. people who have followed this blog long enough know that I think characterization is a scam and all those "get to know your character" questionnaires of like are they neat or messy or what's their favorite color or drink and whatever is pointless. I don't care what protagonist man (gender neutral) likes to wear on the weekends. I'll come up with that answer if it's relevant to the story. all I care about from the outset is what they're trying to accomplish and what they're willing to do it and like. maybe one or two adjectives to have a starting point for what they do?

I do remember at some point reading an absolute dogshit take on chekhov's gun somewhere on tumblr that was like "having the gun on the mantelpiece and being forced to use it is bad story design it forces you to telegraph what you're going to do" or something (it's been some years since I saw this post) and like. the point of chekhov's gun is that if you have a gun go off in the second act, it had better come from somewhere that was shown in the first act (instead of from out of the character's ass) and also if you make a big deal out of something in the first act, you have some responsibility as a writer to follow through in the second act or you're just wasting everyone's time. the thing is, not everything is chekhov's gun, and readers won't be able to know what's what until the second act.

I also remember at some point reading a tumblr post that was like "all stories need to have a character arc" which is just. wrong. because not all stories are about character growth/devolution. sometimes stories are about things the characters are doing. I'm not going to say that philip marlowe really has much character growth from start to end and he doesn't need it because he's a detective and the problem he's trying to solve is trying to figure out what's everyone else's problem. there's nothing wrong with him being a static character, and saying that all stories need a character arc is kind of misunderstanding the nature of conflicts in a story.

Eula swear vengeance on me hot lady coming from an old noble houshold, didn't know how to cook. I hc that it was after she met amber(lets go lesbians) that she finally learnt the arts of culinary. Definitely practiced alot at Good Hunters with Sara. But but but she already knew how to make desserts (look at her trailer video justice for Eula 2k23) and she decorates them in a manner that's very aesthetically pleasing too. She also has a habit of cooking in a very neat and organised manner. Once again Sara taught her about the necessity of a sanitary kitchen and she had taken it to heart so don't fuck up her kitchen. She will swear vengeance and kick you out(lmaooo skill issue Euladontkickmeoutpls )

The great priestess of Watatsumi Island, Sangonomiya Kokomi unfortunately cannot handle seafood [koko is like half fish so would her having seafood be considered cannibalism???] so don't even think about bringing any living creature that has even been near a water body to your kitchen when shes with you. If you make my wife sad I'm coming to throw hands. Kokomi prefers food with mild flavors like her specialty, bird egg sushi, and foods that are easily portable because she is often (see: always) in a hurry. Although if you don't know how to cook, she will gladly teach you. Cooking with kokomi is very fun and cooking dates are how a great majority of your dates are spent. [oh no, what's this, suddenly I have forgotten how to even chop an onion wha- How unfortunate seems like I'll have to take cooking classes on watatsumi Island now:)]

Adeptus Xiao, the mighty yakha who has defended Liyue for centuries, the Golden Winged King who has served the geo archon as his sole master after being saved from the clutches of the evil god is rendered completely helpless infront of a chopping board. This angsty teen cannot cook anything other than almond tofu so cooking dates are a no-go :( Although he can't cook he'll sit on the kitchen counter and watch while you bake. He won't take a bite if it's anything savoury or spicy but mild tasting desserts that don't come off as strong (like cheesecake or kheer) will definitely not be refused

The ever busy secretary Ganyu (my dear overworked coconut please take a break.) somewhat knows her way around the kitchen. Being an half-qilin eating isn't the same for her as it is for mortals. She can go on for day's without any nutritional intake due to the divinity running through her veins therefore she hasn't had much chances to be in the kitchen. If need be, she could always order something from Wanmin's or perhaps the boquet of qingxin that Yaoyao dropped by for her. Ganyu is as good as any amatuer who can cook basic meals but is very willing to learn, that is if she can get past her busy schedule. (Also pls stop eating glaze lilies, half divine or not, I don't think that's good for your health.) She doesn't cook often because of work but when does take a break forced to by ningguang and Keqing. I also think modern au ganyu would be vegan. And candies Hawthorn or tanghulu would be a guilty pleasure.

When it comes to cooking, it is safe to say that culinary is not the electro archon, Raiden Ei's area of expertise. Sticking to honing her skills in martial arts would do better. (Read: my mother would smack you with her slipper and kick you out of the gouse if you dared enter her kitchen). Say if Ms. Ei does try her hand at cooking... your house burnt down because she tried to thaw the chicken w the musou no hitotachi. Now you're homeless and broke. Later you both agree to order takeout and then freeload off of the budget from Narukami shrine courtesy of the gūji, yae miko, who is just surprised you managed to bring this hikkikomori out of her hole. It's fine ei's the archon anyway it's more or less her property.

The handsome consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Zhongli has lived for 9000 years. He has picked up as many skills as the friends he's lost. Maybe this is why the all knowing rex lapis cannot find those who share the memories. However for the sake of your wallet, who already has one foot in the coffin, please keep this man away from the kitchen. Reason being, the groceries you bought for a month have been used in a week. While I am quite proud of how much food i can stuff in my stomach, servings for 8 people might be a little too much even for me. bestie have mercy. Its me and your sugar daddy who has to pay for the groceries and because you so kindly decided to step down as rex lapis and give away your gnosis, the change in minting of mora is going to bring a global financial crisis woohoo. Also nobody can wait 85648 hours for dinner. please be finished before my retirement. Not everybody has the luxury of faking their death and then having a sugar daddy to live rich. (Yes i am bitter.)

of the fandom ocs, i think my favourites are:

naoyuki fujimura - he was the first OC i made for sk8 and i really adore him. i don't get to use him a whole lot but his personality and vibes are something i'm really proud of

hiromi tanaka - my chainsaw man OC. i still haven't finished her carrd yet but i put a lot of work into her so i'm excited to have her fully fleshed out eventually and hopefully get to use her more!

takashi shindo - my absolute BABY BOY i love the way he's developed and i think he's just a very neat character. there's so much about him that i still need to get out in headcanons posts but aaaaa my boy

kaede chinen - bastard boy. bastard. but god i love him sfdgdjsfjkdg he's so snarky and he toes the line of arrogance at times but he's just unapologetically himself and he doesn't allow anyone to change him drastically.

katsumi kyan - she's a menace but she's so cute and i love her so much. she's going to be the reason reki gets his grey hairs early fkjfdsjk but she's so fun and she's just a little spitfire

for d&d ocs:

mihai keove - my half elf light cleric of lathander. she's been through so so much in her backstory but she's kept her kindness and her heart. a lot of her can sort of be summed up by the saying "there's bravery in being soft". she's never lost that desire to wake up every day and be kind and take care of people. even with the loss she's experienced, she's never once let it turn her bitter. she's an incredibly strong woman and she's absolutely my favourite d&d character.

lark grey - lark is...so much fun fgjksfdjkg they're my exhausted enby human death warlock who can be summed up by "god won't let me die" except it's not god, it's death. basically, in the world lark is originally from, death works sort of like a corporation. you line up, meet death and he sends you through the big ol' doors to the afterlife unless you can bribe him to come back. lark, in life, worked for a coporation as well LMAO and so when he got his turn with death, death (aka harold) was like "ayo? i like your resume? how about you work for me instead?" and lark was like "if it means i don't have to die then yeah."

reno laedridal - screaming crying foaming at the mouth because i can never shut up about reno. reno is the first d&d character i ever made. my half elf brute fighter who can be summed up by "*smacks arm* this bad boy can fit so much trauma into him". he's morally grey, from the undercity and worked as a bouncer for a crime lord. he has some attachment issues and is a bit emotionally stunted but by god he's got a good heart under all the walls.

zikri suhaila - THE ULTIMATE BABY BOY. my half demon archfey warlock entertainer. he gets mistaken for a bard a lot because of his vibes and it absolutely frustrates him to no end but he can't be too mad about it because he definitely gets it. his mom is a former musician turned music teacher and his father is a retired adventurer which is where he got his desire to start adventuring from. he has a little brother named rahim. zikri is very charming and flirty.

It’s funny seeing crossovers between fandoms and I like to keep my blog quiet between my many indulgences and hyperfixations but omg!!! I’ve loved both of these series for so long and to see some one as joyed about them as me is so neat!

in all honesty I came here to gush about your writing, how I really enjoy what you made and continue to make for the aftg universe! the way you write Andrew specifically is so unique and defiently made me re-read his lines and certain chapters because they’re just that GOOD! And to see a relationship between Kevin and Neil that’s so near and dear- is so refreshing- I love how much love they have for each other! And DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE ANDREIL MOMENTS!! Ugh the trust those two already have and continue to show each other in such a short amount of time (truly a feat for sir “walls” Andrew Minyard) has me on the edge of my seat for every and all chapters! My boi StarShade, star seeker frametype by @dimorphodon-x. He's the smaller assassin type.

Gave up on trying to draw him properly so just went straight for the colors. Had no idea how to choose them so just used this palette generator. Might dull/darken the blue later but for now that's it.

More info below (not all that much, it's the first time I have name+design before story and background), cursed meme for those who manage to get till the end:

For now his story is kinda backwards - I know that eventually he ends up in a dance group Neon Shadows (based on groups like MPLUSPLUS or Light Balance, more on NS hopefully later) but before that happens I need to marinate him in some good 'ol character developing angst.

Ghost, shadow, phantom, cryptid, camo... many terms for just one guy with one neat outlier ability - super stealth. Combine it with being a massive fraggin liar and you get Starshade.

Idk yet who found and onlined him, what they needed him for and how he was trained. But I do know he lies amazingly and casually so much that not even a lie detector can get him. Because of that he gets tied up in the war as a spy. Doesn't matter for which side 'cuz then he becomes a double spy. Then triple and quadruple and and and in the end you don't know who's side he's really on.

He doesn't know either, nor does he care. All he cares about is himself and to steer all trouble away, to confuse others and manipulate the situation in such way that he's never the suspect.

At first he doesn't care how much chaos he causes as long as the consequences don't reach him. But after some decisions that fucked over some peeps he didn't want to get fucked over he does some thinking and decides to de-escalate conflicts instead of escalating them. Basically he figures he just wants the war to end now more than ever.

Because of his job he's a loner, which is a shame 'cuz he's very sociable and loves hanging out with others. And dancing. He loves music and dance. Sadly he can never be completely honest with others and never feels like he truly belongs to any group.

Eventually I want him to have a stealth car bf and also get him adopted by a flock of stealth seekers. And then join the Neon Shadows. Surely they won't regret taking in an ex-spy-but-acc-just-a-liar-coward-traitor. What can possibly go wrong? You can't tell me those golden eyes can lie. Surely his past won't come to bite him in the aft.

Ahem anyway...

His super stealth includes:

engine and ventilation are very quiet

colors can go from mostly gold/magenta to dark mode (pic above) and he prefers it that way

hard to detect by both cameras and radars

can be taken for freshly deceased even by a medic as his spark is harder to detect as well

naturally moves very quietly without even trying, may spook others by accident by just walking into a room without announcement

The brush pens were super cheap and the blue one was dying from the start so yeah, idk why I decided to draw him xD First thought was to draw him in his alt, just a flat triangle with some extras. And before I knew it I was drawing this instead.

He took the blankets Pari conjured up and made a makeshift coat over his armor. It didn't look neat by any means, but it kept him warm as the two traversed further north.

"I know how it feels to be in a position where one is feeling vulnerable. I like to try and help where I can, Ajax."

Pari replied, doing the same while she tried to catch up.

Talos was finishing up his rounds ensuring the hot springs were immensely cleaned and bot dirty along side that he walked back to the house to ensure everything was stocked for the next set of days and if any customer or tourist were to come by to stay or enjoy the hot springs he'd be ready for it, he hums softly enjoying the great altitude and breeze of the wind here. The weather is always great, it's sunny which allows for him to grow lots of plants and fruits up on the mountain. He went to the back gardens checking some herbs and green tea plants and of course the lovely orchid tree that has tasty fruits. They are finally ripe for taking, he'll pick them later as he cleans the entire place daily and went to the otherwise of the house where the food stock are ensuring foods are fresh and contained properly.

He took an break after all is done and sat outside enjoying the day, he ate some very tasty food and drank green tea which helped him alone to focus and relax his mind.

Pari had never seen a hot spring quite like the one's she'd encountered.

And she'd travelled to a lot of hot springs in her time.

Of course, she hadn't planned on just how different the bath house happened to be. After all, it looked perfectly normal. Although she'd have had to go for a more private option as not all of the bath houses were accepting of clients with tattoos.

She'd made her way to the main house first, looking a little windswept and interesting.

Ode To My Travel Companions

It has been awhile since I have wrote in here, I did write something awhile back but decided not to post it as it was laced with the kind of emotion I don't like putting here all that much. While I know I have broken the internal rule of keeping my demons away from this blog multiple times I still try to abide by it.

Tomorrow marks the 9 year anniversary of my trip to Europe and I know what you are thinking. For fuck sakes Corey enough with talking about Europe 9 years ago. One year from now will be 10 years since maybe celebrate it then, and how about a novel idea of doing another trip. You are right and all in due time.

I wanted to write at least something for August and the idea came when my jacket's zipper broke. For a moment I got really depressed because this jacket is more than just an ordinary jacket this jacket is my travel jacket. After the initial worry of losing my jacket was overtaken with sheesh Corey just replace the zipper but it got me thinking of the 4 items I take with me on just about every trip and how much they mean to me and feel like this August would be a good time to pay homage to them because they all come with a backstory and oddly enough a very similar backstory at least in theme. Of course they are all linked through travel but linked in what they meant to me at the start and how it evolved. Lets start my 2 most obvious companions.

in 2012 and 2013 I often attended a live podcast called Geeks VS Nerds, during the intermission they had a raffle. I started to notice that they never mixed up the bowl before picking from it so I decided to spend 20 bucks on tickets right before the raffle and I was winning every time. It became a thing till they figured out how I won of course. Most of the stuff I won I gave to my friends at Nerd HQ as a way to level out my karma plus most of the stuff I didn't want anyway. However one of if not the biggest prizes I won was a hand sown version of the Jayne hat, the hat on the left side of the picture.

For those who like me at the time I didn't know what a Jayne hat is it comes from the show FireFly, a show I am not much of a fan of outside of what the meaning of the hat or what it meant for me.

At first I did not want the hat, what would I do with hat like that that barely keeps my head warm and from a show I didn't care for? I even tried to give it away to a friend of mine, Dani. However Dani didn't feel comfortable taking it. I would like to think she instinctively thought that me and this hat should not be separated and that life had bigger plans for me and it than with her but chances are she probably didn't want the hat either.

Not long after that though I decided to travel to Europe and it didn't take long for me to figure out what I could use this hat for. I love the movie Amelie and always found the gnome around the world thing was a neat thing and thought why not do that but with hat. I was the only one I knew with that hat, everyone knew I had that hat and I hate taking selfies of myself so this was a best of both worlds.

However a few months before the trip I realized that I should buy a back up, just incase I lose the one I had and that is where the Jayne hat not he right side of the picture came from as I bought that one at a comic book store a month or so before the Europe.

The rest is pretty much history with my 2 Jayne hats, they have accompanied me in just about every place I have ever been to except Whitehorse because I for some stupid reason forgot to bring them. They are a staple of my travels and at times what drives my travels. I do not know if travel feels the same without those two with me.

This picture has a lot of history behind it and always makes me a little emotional, it looks like just a typical photo and it is but is more I know what I was thinking and feeling at that moment and no one could know it unless I told you. I won't tell you today but I also show this picture because you see the last two items I wish to pay homage to; my travel jacket and my messenger bag.

A month or so before I went on my trip my parents visited me in Vancouver for the last time and decided they wanted to buy me my travel supplies to make sure I was prepared. We went to a store called Atmosphere and I needed a jacket. The thing is I only had a jean jacket which is good for summer but not for winter and I had a winter jacket which is only good for winter obviously. I was going to be traveling in September, October and half of November. I needed a jacket that was light enough to not smother me during the late period of summer but warm enough to get me through all of fall. Of all the jackets the store help shown me it was that jacket that seemed right to me. I can't really remember why but I know the biggest selling point was inner pockets. It's hard to find that in jackets anymore but it is very important to me especially during traveling front pockets are easily pick pocketed however inner jacket pockets lower that risk at least a little bit. I know that was the biggest selling point of the jacket. I am pretty sure I didn't want it because it was too expensive and I didn't like my parents buying this stuff for me but they didn't care. So the jacket was mine and has remained mine ever since. Unlike the other 3 items I use this jacket the most and all through the year or at least when the weather is fine for it and given it is Vancouver this much of the year. Like my hats I can see myself ever not having the jacket in my life though I know of all of my items this jacket will be the first go given how much I have used it and much wear and tear is on it already. When it is no longer useable I will still keep it with me, in fact I may even want to be buried in it if it makes environmental sense. That is how much I love it and how much it means to me.

Lastly is my messenger bag. As I mentioned I was a part of a group called Nerd HQ and during my time there some of us did something called craft exchange where it was nearly a secret Santa. I suck at crafts but I thought it would be a good way to make pies for someone. I made 2 pies for one person but someone ho was my friend Tara's friend made me this messenger's bag. I feel so ashamed of myself now but at first I didn't like it. Like with the hat I thought what the hell would I use this bag for? There is no buttons or anything it looked like it had no real practical use. it took my friend Tara to sit me down and give me a well deserved tongue lashing to realize it is the thought that counts and you should be grateful someone put this much effort into something like this for you. She could not be more right, it did not take long for me to warm up to it and again once it became obvious I was going to Europe this messenger's bag immediately had a use and that bag became absolutely invaluable to me. I had a camping backpack but that is too large and bulky to bring everywhere I needed something compact, light and portable to carry stuff and that bag was absolutely perfect in so many ways. Perfect size to carry vinyl records and it had 2 inner pockets, one for my iPad and another was originally for my phone but over time became became the battery pocket. I cannot stress how much I love this bag now. It is also the most fragile though so I only use for travel.

So those are my four travel companions. 4 that have accompanied me on most if not all of my travels in the past 9 years and I hope for the next 9, 18 or 30 years. Doubtful but I will cross that bridge when I get there. They are and remain important pieces to me and my life.

They are constant reminders that sometimes you need to give something/someone a chance to reveal it's worth or you will miss out on so much. Sometimes what you want is not exactly what you need. I don't know if I will ever learn that lesson fully and it will always wind up hurting me.

So with that what is next. I plan on going to Edmonton and Victoria in October, I know yawn but you can't imagine how hard, expensive and stressful it is to travel right now. I could give you a story as to why but I am waiting till the trip that has given me grief is happening occurs to tell it.

There is of course another trip to Newfoundland but that is nothing new either. I know I have promised to do lots of travel over the years but there are a lot of underlining as well as obvious reasons as to why I haven't. Barring something seriously bad happening to the world and/or me I will be traveling in 2024 and it will be somewhere different, unique and/or fun. The plan is Japan, to burn all of my leave split between Newfoundland in December if I am still in Vancouver next year and Japan in November when I turn 40. If I am living in Newfoundland at that time then I am spending as much of my leave time as I can on Japan and leave a little time off for Christmas.

If not Japan, then Australia if affordable (which the tin of itself is doubtful) and if neither of those places are doable or affordable I am going back to Europe again because even though I have been to many of the places there at least twice I know I will have fun there and it would feel even sweeter to be back there 10 years later but I do want it to be Japan. Japan has always been #1 on my list but I never did. There is no better time than now or next year to finally see that place to cap off what has been period of highs and lows for me in my life that is my 30s. Till the next time shazbot nanu nanu.

Happy New Year!! I know I didn't post a Merry Christmas post. Was feeling under the weather, still am but getting better.

Anyway, Happy 2022! Wishing everyone a great New Year and if 2021 was not so good, hoping 2022 will prove better! Still New Year's Eve here, but thought I'd put this up early.

I wasn't sure how all my Midam reblogs would be received. Sorry for those who are unfamiliar-- It's one of my big interests now in terms of shipping. I still love Sastiel, but I mean-- Episode 15x08 for SPN-- that really set up an intriguing friendship between Michael & Adam. Thanks to those who've liked and reblogged my Midam-related reblogs. Makes me feel better about all the Midam reblogs one after another sometimes. I'm trying to add some non-Midam reblogs to change things up.

I'm excited to post one of my favorite chapters for "Everything Ends Here" in January. It'll be a canon-divergent one for the SPN episode "Faith."

Also hoping to finish a story that's more angsty than shippy, but it has both Sastiel & Midam (not sure if that combo in one story is really done?). It will be titled, "The Christmas Resurrection." Hoping to complete the story before winter is over? *blush*

Just to let you know, I'm not sure how often I'll be reblogging posts due to this weird tagging glitch on the mobile app for the past few days.

I've seen a few other people posting about this on Tumblr. So at least it's not just me. I prefer reblogging via the app and it's becoming frustrating reblogging when I keep needing to fix each tag.

I know the tagging is okay on the regular site -- I checked, but I don't want to go on my laptop or whatever just to fix a tag or add them. I'm one of those who likes to tag to help me find the post later. So not having tags won't work for me. :(

The tagging glitch on the mobile app is basically you type out the tag like you want but some letters come up twice bizarrely (when you only click the letter once)-- like, "Uunnbbeelieevvabblee" -- so I have to fix that mess. You kind of lose the motivation to have more than a tag or two for a post. It really sucks.

So I've been reblogging things I really like right now-- that feel worth the tagging glitch. One of which is gifsets from BBC's Merlin-- been rewatching some episodes recently -- Series/Season 4 right now.

Got to say still love the angst in 4x06 when Arthur is upset at Merlin being missing and possibly dead. Still love that episode upon the rewatch.

I think this is a sign to focus more on my story. Better that than glaring at the messed up tags due to the Tumblr glitch. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Okay, I know... Another one, but I couldn't resist. Now that it's officially January 1, 2022 for me, Happy New Year!

Someone convince me not to request another Cameo from Jake Abel...

Anyway... 😛 I have two more request ideas but the price... Is it worth it? I think so... if I ask for a gift card for my bday this year. And if he's still on Cameo when I get that gift card.
