Ok! During my first Monster High Tumblr kick, I designed my version of G3!Jackson. I mentioned somewhere that I hadn't settled on a design for Holt. Well, after far too long, I've finally gotten around to designing my Generation 3 Holt! Unlike Jax's redesign, I changed quite a bit. So without further ado, here he is!! (+ A couple G3!Jax/Holt sketches :3)

okay, so,,, i got back to reading 4kota, and i have so many thoughts of literally every nature

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR 4KOTA, NATURALLY!

okay so, allow me to rant a lil

bro why the actual fuck is Arthur just magical hitler now?? 😭 like hello???? it genuinely makes me really sad because he was such a sweet and likable character for most of 7ds and now he wants to create an ethnostate for humans only???? it just breaks my heart, man

SAME WITH JERICHO LIKE HELLO? QUEEN, YOURE BETTER THAN THIS. genuinely tho- nakaba try not to make all your characters pedos challenge (impossible). there are literally so many other ways in which Jericho could have ended up in a similar situation, but nakaba really just chose pedophilia? it couldve been something along the same lines just without the romantic attraction!! a family bond can be just as strong- and it couldve been something like her losing Lancelot or in some other way letting him down, and then thinking that he despises her and holds onto that grudge (which, judging his character it wouldve probably been a small spat that he got over) - but maybe Jericho didnt understand that, or wasnt ready to face him, expecting him to be livid - so she asked for an alternative reality where that didnt happen and they got along great as sister/brother or master/trainee. i wouldnt put Jericho past being so stubborn that she wouldnt believe when Lance would say that he forgave her, and then boom!! same set-up, just without the nasty pedophilia!!

ON THE NOTE OF WHICH- (theres so much of that garbage in nakaba's writing, fucks sake) - i genuinely hate the whole thing happening with Guinevere. the whole non-consensual kiss from a 12 year old to a 16 year old (ewwwww) is one thing, but then when Lance is reflecting on that interaction and he SMILES????

you have no idea how much this panel killed me to see. Lancelot youre better than this,,,, 4 years is not a big age difference when youre in your 30's, but when youre 16???? please,,,, cmon now,,,

speaking of whommmmm~~ ,,, I ADORE LANCELOT!! SO MUCH!! this is to be expected considering i love Ban, bUT- hes genuinely just such a cool and wonderful character that has some sense in him. i especially loved those panels where he was like jumping around to get himself hyped up cuz like!! someone, please, stop all this shit going on with Guinevere (writing this while reading chp 87) – I really despise the fact that nakaba has to make like literally all of the relationships either look like they have a massive age gap (Ban and Elaine), or actually have a fucking criminal age gap (Mel and Ellie). it really is not that difficult to just write a relationship where there is a <2 year age gap, did you know that, nakaba?? crazy, I know (deadass, while I don’t ship them, it would at least be bearable if she was also like 15-16, just not 12 TT)

STRESS-EATER CONFIRMED!!!!!!!!! YOU AND ME BOTH BUDDY. No wonder he married a cook, wonder if in college everytime Tang was mega stressed about finals or a big deadline coming up (the latter could be true later when he's out of college and had a job too) if pigsy, assuming he had the time, would just make a meal for him. They probably wouldn't be able to spend much time together in that situation so making him something when he knows Tang is stressed seems like a realistic thing for Pigsy to do in order to subtly show he's there for support when need be. Tang pays that kindness forward by actually paying his tab for once coughs

(Can't find a way to make it a gif) Tang: so ""relaxed"" in his current situation that he is shaking hard enough to vibrate in place, coupled with the look of completely calm and collected and ""coolness"". (S4)

Does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night chan- gets shot

ACTUALLY THo S4 fleshed him out as a character so much, especially when we compare him to how he started all the way back in S1. Beforehand in earlier seasons everything was mostly stable for him. Same places, same people, consistent comfort, it gave him some sense of security that could have made his "calm and relaxed" demeanor viable back then. But now that everythings been thrown up and ruined by powers out of Tang's control, his bubble of safety no longer stands. We begin to see it in season 3 with lady bone demon's attacks + macaque's continued interference. Tang seems a lot more on edge near the latter half of season 3 then he had been all of the rest of the show and there's definitely WAY more panic present as one bad thing after another unfolds, notably when he is quite literally moved to tears as he's forced to forge the samadhi fire. It does kind of consistently crop up during other prior conflicts too but much more mildly and on a more temporary scale. Now, seemingly not long after the lbd incident as mk evidently still hasn't pushed past lbd all that well, his entire framework of stability is practically smashed into pieces. He's stuck in a scroll, he loses track of all of his friends for a while, there is no comfortable safe space for him anymore(a book can probably only realistically tell you so much about a setting, probably not enough to evoke the same familiarity that his house or pigsy's shop does), he literally almost gets eaten, there's ANOTHER massively powerful divine being threatening the safety of his loved ones along with his own, and on top of it all he can't get his powers (which are evidently in DIRE need right now) to work half the time. He had built a dependency on the routine of mundane life beforehand and S4 completely shatters that routine and subsequent stability. It's no wonder why we begin to see him crack, it make sense why we're just now seeing the actual depths of his lack of confidence and his anxiety. This has always been a problem more likely than not, he was able to cope before, or at least hide it, but he can't now. His inability to use his powers properly inevitably worsens the problem. He needs to use his powers but he cant. He needs to be useful, he has to be, but he just can't no matter how long or how hard he tries. Every odd is against him, it's getting to him and it shows. I love how lmk doesn't try to hero-speech it's way out of every character's doubts. I love how they let him break down several times throughout season 4, I love how they let him show emotional weakness not as a plot obstacle that can be ✨✨completely overcome with the power of believing in yourself!! And friends!!! And flashy magic!!! Yayyyyy!!!✨✨ but as a fundamental part of Tang that he just has to work around and deal with it. They obviously can't get too in depth into it (and probably never will) because a. This is a kid show made by Lego, and b. Because he's, y'know, not the main character, but the attention they did bring to it is nice.

I have. Accidently written a paragraph. Oops. uhhhh tldr: They did a good job portraying Tang's internal struggles through S4 while not invalidating his character and behavior from previous seasons. When you kick the rug out from someone's feet and then throw them off a 400ft cliff into a pit full of spikes they're going to be at least a little bit terrified out of their mind and are probably going to understandably show weakness somewhere along the way, I'm glad Lego takes a moment to explore that with Tang at least a little bit.

Mentioned this earlier on twt but the death grip he maintains on his staff when he gets really scared is a nice touch. He has a history throughout all 4 seasons of latching onto objects or people when he's distressed, a small but fun character detail!

In line with what I ranted on about for an entire essay earlier- explicit mention of a meltdown! It's quick and short but the fact that they called it a meltdown at all is impressive, this is the first time I can remember a show calling one as such. A meltdown in response to a seeming extended lack of security and a disconnect between Tang and what's going on around him is realistic too, I think at least. The scene right after this when the gang (mostly sandy) does their best to bring Tang back down to earth for a moment was nice, they're such a supportive friend group I love this little found family

wait George Villiers was a shitty person? what did he do?

Hi! I’d like to preface my answer to this question by saying that I’m not a historian (I have a degree in linguistics and literary studies), and all of my information comes from doing a lot of research regarding George on my own, therefore there might be a lot more info on what exactly he did or did not. So if there is someone more knowledgeable about this, please correct me.

What George Villiers did, and, quite frankly, how his career had gone could be described by a line reportedly spoken by Queen Anna of Denmark to Abbot, the archbishop of Canterbury (and Pembroke), two people who worked together to install George in James’s bedchamber as a favourite “You and the rest of your friends know not what you do. I know your master better than you all, for is this young man be once brought in first person he will plague must be you that labour for him.”

As opposed to the previous favourite Somerset (Robert Carr), Gorge was deeply ambitious as he not only wished to enrich himself while in favour, but he also wanted to become an important player in the political sphere. (If I dare say so myself, I believe, that his time as a politician, would not be half as bad if he had received a proper training. Tho he was undoubtedly a shitty, to put it mildly, person) He knew that key to his success was the affection and love of the king as he could literally take everything that was given to him and make him once again the poor George that he once was. (I really do not want to talk about their relationship as it would take more than a sentence to summarise it). Thans to how rapidly he climbed the social ladder and received more titles and positions at the court which in turn allowed him to have actual sway in the country’s internal and external politics. Geore was also keenly aware that apart from the royal favour he needed connection to face his opposition (the ancient families of England). So patronage, it was something common (even now). He installed his immediate family at the court and secured them positions, (mmm nepotism), the marriage market was also fair play as George slowly but surely arranged marriages for people in his family, win-win situation.

Addressing his now growing family, his wife – Kate Manners, became one as he possibly kidnapped and raped her. (There are some rumours that he “what-a-surprise got locked” with her in one building so after that they just had to get married.) It was a marriage for the money she could bring, and the connections did not hurt either, a nice bonus, one might even say. He also made a deal with Edward Coke to marry off his daughter (her mother protected her fiercely) to his brother. It is said that she cried during the ceremony.

In lieu of the theme of nepotism, as he slowly transformed the royal bedchamber into a place of the de facto lawmaking. He packed every place possible (to an extent) with people what would back him up. For that he was notoriously selling patronages, titles, and land, especially in Ireland where law did not hold him so much. Literally whenever the parliament tried to remove him from power because of how badly (Imo he would have done much better if he had training and not just gone with the general fuck around and find out rule.) he did his job, and people were fed up with him. He started a whole 20D chess match with Richelieu which was pointless, started a few campaigns that ended with him often not paying the soldiers (I mean no one would stab him to death over such thing… right), the last one being a pointless siege that only made England loose troops and money. (He could have one that one, he was so close to it, but he had to celebrate the possibility of victory rather than making people sing papers). He enraged the protestant England by helping to offer help France with fight off Protestants. What else… oh yes, he almost sa’d Anne of Austria which just… mmm the flavour of historical silencing of women, misogyny and men who just have dick measuring contests because.

Tho what I do not believe, and what many line up with, is that he did not poison James (or at least wasn’t aware of doing so??) because I think that he would gain more from helping the king survive than just killing him.

Lore

Binge Phase

◇ I left a severely abusive household at 12 years old, discovered food was actually available to me and went nuts. I gained from severely malnourished (weight unknown) to 130lbs (bmi 24.6) when I was 13 years old. I didn't really notice that i was gaining until i realized i had a flab in my stomach, and i couldn't run as fast. It didn't really bother me, though because I was too focused on gorging myself. I would have moments of enlightenment when I hated my body and was absolutely disgusted with my eating habits. I couldn't stop, though. I mean, I didn't even know what calories were !! I would call that my binge phase. It lasted until I was around 16. During that time, I would end up gaining to 171 lbs or ~77.6kgs (bmi 32.3). I really, really hated myself, and I didn't even really know why.

"Healthy" Phase

◇ When I FINALLY realized that I needed to stop inhaling food like a fucking vacuum cleaner, I was 17. I downloaded a (shitty) cal counting app and put my Limit at 1,300kcals per day. I still didn't really understand calories so I would consistently eat over. I also ended up getting "addicted" (not rly, just dependent) to 🍃 and some weird (15kcal) Carbonated drink.

My eating habits got a lil better and my weight went down to 152lbs or 68.9kgs (bmi 28.7). I still hated myself so much. One of the key moments in my downfall/uprising is having to step on a scale in the middle of a class full of (not including myself) skinny, pretty girls. I stepped on after a girl and I heard her sigh of relief knowing I weighed more than her. I heard her whisper to her friend that she was only 2 lbs less than me. (She then lost a bunch of weight following that and maybe had an ED)

This I guess, still didn't hit me properly so I maintained 152lbs (btw I was over on my calorie tracker consistently by 600kcals, my maintenence was ~1900 and I was "eating" <1300). Tbh nothing really was clicking for me, I tried intermittent fasting (I'd always break them for terrible food), working out (never could keep myself in a routine without burning out), I even tried p!rging (I don't even know why, I still sucked at it tho)

Honeymoon Phase

◇ I felt so stuck and useless at weightloss that I nearly gave up (AGAIN..🐷). Then one day, I was wearing lazy clothing, I hadn't brushed my hair or showered (and was clearly overweight) my bf and I went to the store. On the ride we realized there was something wrong w/the car and so when we got the the store he popped the hood.

I watched as he stood out there from inside the car. Two girls came by and talked to him (literally just asked if he needed help) and for whatever reason that was it. I realize now that it was because the girl who had talked to him, was my height, had my style and weighed like 50-60lbs less than me. I was so mad and embarrassed that I literally downloaded tumblr. Knowing it would trigger me.

That was July 20th, 2023. I've made several accounts since, some get t-worded, some get deleted while I'm spiraling. Here I am now and I guess that's all that matters :]

Jeong Yunho was an enigma to you. Ever since you first worked under him, he had always been quite elusive, but now, even more so. You were captured, an enemy, surely deserving of death for breaking into his base and trading information, but he wanted to... marry you?

Being a bride this year was not something you had planned. Possibly being killed on a mission? Sure. Getting arrested? Definitely. Getting engaged to the mafia boss who you sold information on to your former organization? Not so much. You had gone from pilfering information to picking wedding dresses, and you were more than a little confused. 

Sure, you weren’t given the Kleinfeld bridal experience, but you were still being treated well despite the actual situation. You kept wondering how you’d gotten used to being here, only half expecting to be killed when you opened your eyes. But Yunho was very accommodating, and well mannered, provided his orders were obeyed. But he was never genuinely mean to you, and was even quite talkative on most occasions, never once minding your hesitance to talk or open up about your past. You learned new things about him every day though.

You learned that he loved to garden, often spending hours tending to his own sizable flower beds and veggie plots when he wasn’t working/wedding planning.  You could often see him outside your window, hat and gloves on, battling weeds along with Mingi, his best  friend. You also learned that he liked to paint, often doing portraits for his staff and guards, often earning him praise from them behind closed doors. He had many hobbies, and would often invite you along. 

You started enjoying your time in his home, slowly getting over your fear, day by day. You didn't see him as "the enemy" anymore, in spite of having been told he was exactly that. And you were sure he was taking a liking to you, as you were with him, even though your first meeting hadn’t been all that friendly. But after showing you his kind side, Yunho seemed as though he were a totally different person. He was a jokester, often making you laugh at his odd humor. He was a gentleman, opening doors for you and pulling out your chair. It was like a prince from a fairy tale stepped into your life, and you found yourself not minding it too much. 

You considered Stockholm syndrome might be at play here, but you weren’t particularly in love with Yunho. His presence and home were just much more  welcoming than your past situation despite the circumstances. You felt the need to keep your past more of a secret, choosing to not relive the horrors of what your life had been. But today, as you sat in the garden with Yunho and Mingi, you had no idea that a simple question would send those plans crashing down around you.

“Y/N?” Mingi looked up from the weeding he was doing with Yunho, an inquisitive look on his face. You looked at him over the book you held in your hands, raising an eyebrow at him. “How did you get mixed up in all this? You seem like a nice girl.” 

Yunho rolled his eyes and snorted. “Yes Mingi, because the girl who was selling information on our business is a nice girl.” Mingi scrunched up his nose, offended for you. “Hey! Everyone has a reason for getting into this, and I’m sure she was just doing what she had to to survive.” Neither of them had seemed to notice that you tensed up. Yes, you were doing what you had to survive, but you didn’t want to remember it. “I think I’ll go inside” you mumbled, standing and walking out of the garden. “Oh, I didn’t mean to make you upset-” Mingi looked apologetic, but Yunho stopped him. “It’s okay, I’ll go talk to her.” 

Yunho silently followed you, not saying a word until you reached your room, right across the hall from his own. “Everything okay? You seemed pretty upset just now." You nodded, sitting down on the bed. "I just, don't really like talking about my past..." You trailed off, watching as Yunho sat next to you. He raised your chin gently, making you face him, but you wouldn't meet his eyes.

"Look at me y/n. I don't know what happened in your past, and you don't have to tell me unless you're ready. I know we didn't get the best start, but no one can touch you here. You're safe with me now. I'll do my best to provide for you here, and as a husband. You won't want for anything. All I ask for is your trust and loyalty in return. Can you do that for me?" You looked at him, seeing the sincerity in his gaze. You weren't sure if it was because how gently he was caressing your face, or how truthful he was being with you, but in that moment, you made your decision. "I trust you, Yunho." Your voice didn't waver, loud and clear for him to take in your sincerity.

You felt you could tell him anything in that moment, so you told him the truth: the reason you joined, the  brutal training and initiation into your former gang, the beatings for not completing missions as fast as your seniors wanted, the verbal assault you took on. Every horror you faced you laid bare for him to take in. All daily occurrences in your life up until you were ready for your first mission: infiltration of Yunho's organization. Yunho listened patiently, never interrupting, giving  small hum every now and then to show he was still listening. While he had found out a lot of this information on you when you first showed up at his base, he was still grateful that you trusted him enough to tell him yourself. 

When you had finished speaking, Yunho gently took your hand, and reiterated his promise. “I’ll protect you Y/N.” You nodded, tears forming in your eyes. Yunho embraced you, allowing you to cry into his shirt. Neither of you spoke for a while, but the atmosphere had definitely changed. Your relationship with Yunho was going to change, and you hoped it was for the better. No one could tell what the future would be like. But for now, you would allow yourself to find rest in the arms of your fiancé, and it was all that you needed.

SHES GORG!!! But I’m with you.. Unless they went to casa closed off and he asked her to be his gf, there’s really nothing she can say to me to turn me from Alex. To me, it always just seemed like they weren’t compatible. Like not even from what Alex has told us, but the other guys too! We know they prob did bits at one point bc if u asked Alex about what’s the furthest he’s gone in the villa he keeps it private to respect Estelle. But girly we did bits too!

Same I always knew Summer wasn’t going back but I will say I’m surprised about Bonnie and Uma both coming back. I def thought it was going to be one of the other. Especially if you tell the game you’re not interested in girls. The Bonnie and Joyo recoupling just doesn’t make sense to me. They didn’t really seemed like they vibed that well for her to be brought back.

I’m SO CURIOUS if Raf brings MC back or not. I do hope that everyone’s reactions aren’t identical. Like I hope Daphne doesn’t stand up there and says the exact same thing as Estelle said to us. Especially bc if u are grafting Raf all he talked about was Daphne, which is why I even went back and restarted last week to solely go after Alex. I couldn’t take the even temporary betrayal of him running back to Daphne the second he saw her again.

(Part 4/4)

(Earlier: Parts 1, 2, and 3)

Okay, finally getting to the 4th and last post talking about Tom Sturridge in his projects. There's not too much left to say as these are mostly cameos.

Vanity Fair (2004)- This was the first movie Tom was in as a grownup (edit: nope, this was the 2nd)- in period clothing (and looking like a million bucks, as you would suspect). Screentime: 2min. You can tell he's still finding his footing in all this. But he's got the it factor already.

Journey's End (2017)- Movie about Brit soldiers stuck in trenches waiting for death during WW2. Sam Claffin and Paul Bettany are in this and I recognized neither before seeing credits 🤦‍♀️ Anyway, Tom plays a bad soldier: drinks and girls are his forte, fighting- not so much. His character is in this movie to basically show the bone-chilling, hope-crushing, cruelly pointless side of wars. He uses his 3/4 scenes to drive that point home like a master. There's one super emotionally charged scene with Sam that sears into the mind- they both absolutely chew it up.

Song to Song (2017)- Tom being in this movie is just the most RANDOM thing in the world, guys. Song to Song is about the music industry and rockstar life, and Tom shows up for like 2mins to play Ryan Gosling's hometown farmland brother of all things??? Wut. 2 lines of dialogue. Cute hair, tho. Cute everything.

Hello Apartment (2018)- Slice-of-life short film about how we all leave our mark in the spaces we move through. Dakota Fanning made this and asked Tom to be in it- they've been friends since doing Effie Gray. Tom is MC's stormy bf- a bit of kissing, a bit of pouting, a bit of shouting. Worth it. (Aside: some STUNNING shots in this, kudos to Dakota). This is on youtube.

That's it, actually. Only movie of Tom's I haven't gotten to is Junkhearts (2011). It's on Amazon Prime for $4 which is worth it, but it seems like an intense movie and I'll take a break before trying to watch this one.

A significant part of Tom's career has been theater work. From what I've gathered, seems like he's done some phenomenal work there- both in UK and US. Got cool awards and noms. Of course, if your play isn't Hamilton, it doesn't get to be on any screen, so there's no way to see any of those now. The one I'm most gutted about is 1984 (2017) on Broadway. I love the og classic by George Orwell, and by all accounts this adaptation/interpretation was banging (AND controversial!). Tom playing a role like Winston Smith... I'd have loved it so fuckin much * screaming-into-pillow break*

How does Tom choose his projects?

"The first thing I’m drawn to is a piece of writing, to an author, to a director. Weirdly, it’s rarely a character. I want to work with people or with texts that push me and make me learn things that I think I can’t do. Because if I think I can do it, then I can’t surprise myself. And if I can’t surprise myself, then I’m definitely not going to surprise an audience." -Tom for Interview magazine, 2022

Why does he often do troubles characters?

"... I think what I’m attracted to is being able to explore a spectrum of emotion. It’s easier to find comedy in something sad than it is to find darkness in something funny. I can be all kinds of people when the darkness is there. Also, the first character I ever played onstage was a boy who murders all of his schoolmates [in Punk Rock]. I do think there’s something to be said by, “You get stuck in a gorge that you start with.” People have always gone, “Oh, yeah. He’s the fucked-up guy.” - same

Here's something about me: I love falling in love with men on silver screen. It's the only space where it's okay to be in love with a version of someone you made in your head because you're not going to know any other version. The only space you get to channel your feelings six ways to Sunday: write posts, write stories, draw, make any art- people will actually celebrate those (whereas try talking to your friend about a new irl crush for five days straight, on the sixth they'll smack you upside your head). The feelings are intense because these men are deliberately performing for you, the emotions forever unsullied because they're not gonna come hurt you (unless they're being cancelled lol). And they're all the finest specimens! So, yeah, I love it, and it happens periodically. What's rarer, tho, is that I get attracted to an actor's whole personality. I mean, like, all of these hot men are hella charming, and you can yassify almost anyone based on interview moments. But, idk, it doesn't always click with me, and I love a character, ship a couple, then move on. Tom, tho, is going to be one of those 2/3 permanent ones. I just find him interesting which to me, is the thing. (And also, he turned out to be one of those rare people in life who lets you know things about yourself that you didn't know before. Huh. Who knew?) And yeah, okay, he's very hot and insanely talented which started this whole intense phase but while this won't last, a genuine fondness and love will. He has a place in my heart forever. It's been such a good time discovering him that I'm legit grateful to the universe.

First impression

first impression was Wow Pretty but also i was not a flyers appreciator at the time so i was like well. okay. whatever. it was right around the time of the vegas trade and i was doubly not a vegas appreciator so even tho she was sooo gorg i wasn't super invested. also at one point between like getting into hockey and getting into tknp i made a joke tweet abt how we need an nhl player who listens to car seat headrest and one of my mutuals was like "we already have that it's nolan patrick" and that was like... a flame held to my soul. the interest really sparked there

my best friend. my beaft. i think she is wildly misunderstood by a lot of people but the people who Get It really and truly get it... she's a princess she's just some guy she's a bitch she's a lover she's a child she's a mother she's a sinner she's a saint. i love it when girls are kind of mean and love to lie and get embarrassed over the tiniest things like having normal human emotions and they actually care so much despite trying really hard to look like they don't care <3 i love that she's very like... very guarded and reserved (or attempts to be) but also sometimes you catch moments of her like not being able to help her reactions. betrayed by your own fond smiles and blushy cheeks!!! i also think she is much sillier than we give her credit for and that is underutilized. locker room dance you will always be famous
