maybe colin was chilling with his niece (i want colin to have a niece or a nephew so bad, he gives uncle vibes and also i want jamie to interact with the kid at some point too) and she was watching it and he got invested. and then jamie got invested via colin. Any headcanons for Delphi? :)

Mmmhh, this is a tough one since I don't really like the idea of Bella and Voldemort having kids (for various reasons, maybe I'll do a separate post about why).

Also, I read CC a long time ago and while I remember what happens, I also remember that the part about Delphi made my blood boil from the injustice that was her life. It irks me and irritates me to even think about it, both from the waste of the character and how she was treated. Also, I don't think she was a very well-written character at all (but none of them was in that play, so...)

For these reasons, and also because I try to not diverge too much from what we know in the canon, my HCs are about Delphi's conception and birth. If you want some about how the story actually went or about some AU where Bella and Vold live, I can do a part 2.

Delphi was a mistake. I don't care what anyone thinks or says, there is no way Voldemort planned her unless he wanted to cut her up and use her for some dark magic ritual where he needed his own flesh (sorry for the extremely gruesome image, but it's the truth). I think that both Voldemort and Bellatrix had just assumed it was impossible for them to conceive: a post-rebirth humanoid body couldn't possibly produce fertile sperm in Voldemort's mind, just like a battered, beaten body, put through fourteen years of torture in Azkaban couldn't possibly be fertile, let alone carry to term safely, in Bellatrix's mind. Ironically, they never had doubts about the other, although they were convinced the other had doubts about them.

It happens when they are not being careful, especially Bellatrix (who was the one that took contraceptives during the first war) since she isn't having regular periods and is very weak. Normally, witches at her age are still perfectly capable of having kids, but she had had problems in the past.

Neither of them takes it very well, at first.

Bellatrix does not want to become a mother. No, sir, she does not. She is Bellatrix, a female warrior, who wants to go into battle and bring the wrath of the gods, fire and blood, down upon her enemies. She never wanted kids, she doesn't want this one.

Bellatrix also doesn't want to be a mother. And the two are different. You see, I headcanon Bella as having a difficult relationship with her sex. Not because she doesn't like being a woman, but because she feels constrained in the stereotypical roles of womanhood, which she sought always to break from.

Once, when Druella was expecting her fourth and last child (a boy, who died a few days after birth), she had a conversation similar to that of Aemma and Rhaenyra in the first episode of HOTD. She told her eldest daughter, who was nine at the time, that sooner or later she would be laying in the birthing bed as that was her duty as a pureblood woman.

Bellatrix replied that she would rather be a warrior, destined for battles and glory. When Druella told her, half-scandalised half-worried, that warriors often died in battle, Bella answered that ladies died in childbirth, which to her was much worse.

Bellatrix has a series of crises and doubts regarding (in no particular order): her role as a mother, her relationship with the dark lord, her place in the DE ranks, the birth itself, her marriage with Rodolphus, her life after that, the sex of the baby, and much much more. The fact that no one explores them in fanfiction in the proper, deep, correct way irks me.

She concealed her pregnancy in the first months when it could still be done, and then she just disappeared for a while.

Bellatrix was the most pretentious mother-to-be in the world, with the most difficult cravings to satisfy. She accepted nothing but the best.

Bellatrix was sure her feelings towards the child wouldn't change whether it was a boy or a girl. With that being said, she hoped for a boy. The thought of a little Dark Lord, who was just like his father but who truly loved her and was devoted to her, was one of the main ideas that led her to accept the pregnancy. I think she thought raising a boy would be much easier, and something she would have more help with (Rodolphus & Rabastan, the DL himself, Narcissa who had already raised a son albeit a weakly one). There was also the idea of the Black inheritance. With a son who turned out stronger than Draco, she could provide an actual heir to the House of Black, something her parents had failed to do.

Also, Bella spent most of her adult life around men. She probably would have an idea of how to raise a son, how she would want him to be, and very few on how to raise a girl.

Of course, she would want a warrior for a daughter. Except what if her daughter didn't want to be? What if this daughter turned out like Narcissa, a housewife who barely uses complex magic these days? (I feel that Bella has some ingrained sexism inside of her, which I particularly like because it makes her even more complex). What if she marries an idiot like Lucius? Even worse, what if she runs away with a Mudblood like Andromeda? Oh, Bella would kill her with her own hands if that were the case! Her own mother had wanted someone more like Narcissa, someone less involved in the bloodshed and more in the politics. Bellatrix had suffered because her mother just wouldn't understand what the right choice was! What if her daughter was the same? What if her daughter felt the same about her? What if her daughter broke her heart the same way Andromeda had broken her mother's? What if she broke her daughter's heart?

Bellatrix wants a boy. Boys are more simple. (They're really not, but Bellatrix doesn't realize that).

On the other hand, Voldemort despises the idea of having a son. What if the child looks like Tom Riddle? What if the child tries to usurp him? Nope. He wants a daughter that looks like Bellatrix and has her loyalty.

He gets a daughter that looks like Bellatrix.

Bellatrix is also overjoyed because LV tells her he was hoping for a girl and that she has made him proud.

The moment she holds her daughter in her arms, she feels pride and love like never before because that is the blood of Salazar Slytherin and her Lord and her family all together and she is absolutely perfect.

She got to name the child and she respected the Black Family traditions (Voldemort doesn't concern himself with baby names, and definitely didn't have a family name he wished to bestow upon his child).

I have no idea why she chose Delphini, since dolphins are intelligent, playful, and friendly creatures (not the primary qualities Bella would have wanted for her child), and both the myths about the birth of this constellation do not fit these characters' stories at all. So, I think she did it because of another reason. The two main stars in the Delphinus constellation are Sualocin and Rotanev. When read backwards they give the name Nicolaus Venator, the Latin translation of the name Nicolò Cacciatore. He was an astronomer (and I headcanon him as a wizard, at this point) and the only man who ever got away with naming not one, but two stars after himself. I think Bellatrix would have been fascinated with this story, with this man who literally wrote his name in the stars. That's why she chose it.

The labour was difficult, and so was the pregnancy.

The child could understand her father speaking to her in Parseltongue, in the womb. Voldemort sometimes did that, just to make sure the child inherited that ability of his.

Voldemort was not present for the birth. He was in the room farthest from it and still, he could hear the screams and they reminded him of Wool's (where sometimes unfortunate girls like his mother turned up pregnant and in need of help; most died). He hated it.

Rodolphus, however, paced up and down outside of the room, and he still hadn't made up his mind on how to feel about the whole situation. (I find the whole thought of them being one big happy family a bit too fluffy and unrealistic).

LV was genuinely worried that Bellatrix would die and steeled himself by thinking there was no woman in the world more different from his mother.

There were also other worries: what if it was born dead, sick, deformed, slow... a squib, like his mother?

But it was the most perfect, healthy, baby girl.

She was NOT blonde.

Like Harry Potter, she too had her mother's eyes.

Idk if you've answered this before or if you've made your own canon for ves and lana but what canon choices did ves make during her class story? Is lana introduced sooner than the revan expansion?

My OCs for each class exist in the same canon verse where my Jedi Knight, Aelirra, is the Outlander and Alliance Commander. Their stories happen in parallel with the game’s main events, with most of their paths converging during the Alliance era, then diverging after. It’s the same for Ves, except she meets Lana much earlier.

For Vestra’s canon choices, I’ll just mention the more ‘significant’ ones? (which really isn’t a lot lol)

On Nar Shaddaa, she chose to cure the plague instead of wiping out the Krayts gang, finding twisted amusement in a Sith being revered as a healer and saviour. She takes over the cult, and has it run to her specifications.

She bound all of the ghosts by force in Act 2, save for Horak-mul on Hoth. Horak seemed eager to go with her, and Ves wanted to know how it feels to bind a ghost willingly.

In Act 3, she freed the Mother on Belsavis because the machine’s capabilities intrigued her, and she wanted to win it over so that she could look into augmenting herself in future. On Voss, she gave the dream-walking Gormak, Hadrik, passage offworld, and Force persuaded the Voss who confronted her in the airlock. It was the best she'd felt in ages, her mind and body whole once more, and Lord Lenshe was feeling magnanimous enough to hold up her end of the bargain.

For the Silencer CN-12 chip quest, she retained her cult and Force persuaded the Veil into serving her. During the Kaggath, she won over Darth Achelon and Lord Skar as allies, painfully aware that her power base is small and needs to grow beyond Pyron's fleet.

For the final Khem/Zash choice, she kept Khem instead of Zash.

In the end, she gained the canon title of Darth Nox, because she leaned very heavily into the dark side during the class story. (I changed it to Darth Avriss in my fics, cos I’m picky like that) She also released all the ghosts; she was so damn sick of them by then, and craved some time alone.

As for Lana, they meet way back in Act 1. After Ves collected two of four Hord artifacts, Zash recalled her to attend a Sith Lord’s soiree - they met here and had a one-night stand. They’ll meet again on Hoth in Act 2, and have another roll in the sheets. (It’s cold, okay??) After Ves ascended to the Dark Council, they became friends with benefits, and grew closer from there.

By the time Marr asked Ves to help on Makeb, she and Lana were a couple. Ves wasn’t involved with the events of SoR and Ziost (my JK has that…traumatising ‘honour’), but she’s there to catch Lana after Ziost beat her girl down.

During the five years while the Outlander was in carbonite, and Lana’s on the run from the Empire (can’t remember if this is hc or canon), Ves basically acted as Lana’s rock and secret accomplice. The initial idea of forming an alliance to fight the Eternal Empire came from Ves, and while Lana contacts Theron to rustle up Republic support, Ves pulls on her network in the Empire. So when the Alliance is finally formed, most Imperial recruits (and a lot of the initial resources) are there because of Ves. Aelirra may be the Alliance's Commander, but Ves is its sugar mommy.

canon divergent hc once again. i only have those kinds of hcs tbh

golbez struggling to understand his identity unrelated to war

kain visiting golbez, who has returned to earth after a stay on the moon but refuses to leave his secluded space near mysidia, coincidentally near where he was born, aside from the behind the scenes, almost night vigilante esque, work he does to fix what he destroyed

he asks what exactly golbez gets up to otherwise, having asked barbariccia the same--curious as to what a fiend gets up to in her spare time, considering all she has is free time

and he says he studies magic, reads magical texts and texts on wildlife and herbs (if he can’t learn white magic, he might as well learn to craft potions)--basically learning things to study and grow, doing so to better himself and understand his powers outside the frame of waging war. he wants to do things to see if he can do them, how he can push the boundaries of spellcasting for himself and his own gratification

but even then, he says he’s not quite sure how to engage with things that aren’t in the vein of magic and gaining knowledge. not that it doesn’t interest him or that he wrongfully considers it an important part of himself, but he just

he’s never read a book

he’s only ever heard music in passing, has never listened to it on purpose

his fingers are clumsy with writing utensils (which is understandably chalked up to the sheer size of his hands) and although he has vast knowledge, including reading difficult texts and writing/thinking in intricate ways, he wouldn’t know where to start getting his thoughts down in a descriptive sense

yes, he considers his interest in magic to be for pleasure but he doesn’t know how to engage with more than that. doesn’t know how to do things others do, both human and lunarian

kain considers himself both cursed and blessed by his lineage, immersed in all the culture and glory that comes with being a dragoon but also the bloodshed, a life that necessitates violence but craves an end to it

especially after the war, he’s able to reorient his understanding of it back to peacetime, to when training had the goals of protecting something or improving one’s own abilities or sustaining a rivalry and pushing one another or even just to jump high enough to see the sunset unconcealed by trees

he has the family ties to see his rank as a dragoon and a commander untarnished by war, with the capabilities for so much more than bloodshed

but golbez is just learning now of what he’s been unexposed to, wouldn’t know true enjoyment of something if it physically wounded him in the process

“i borrowed non-magical texts for the first time,” he explains, the usage of “texts” to refer to fiction in a non-educational setting an immediate indication of his unfamiliarity with it, “i’m. not sure if they’re good or not”

a small smile graces kain’s features and then golbez’s as well

“i’m not much of a reader myself but liking it is more the point than if it’s ‘good,’ although it can be a real task to get through if it’s really that bad”

“is it more common to find something written poorly or...?”

“i suppose executed poorly is more the case but if you find yourself thinking it’s garbage just... pick something else”

“good advice for everything else too, i suppose”

“music’s the same way, maybe even more obviously so”

“although i’ve certainly heard music in passing that is... ‘not good’ and i’m more accepting of that i think”

“yeah, i know what you mean,” kain agreeing that hearing someone put their heart into music, even if it just sounds like clanging, is more endearing than having to slog through written text. as if being graced with self-expression through music versus being cursed with textual over-confidence in one’s (lack of) abilities

golbez asks in turn what kain does when he’s not working--or what work is compromised of if war isn’t being waged

he can relax into conversation then, describing literally anything golbez could fill his time with

“as dragoons, we protect the castle, which mainly means staying vigilant but it allots great chunks of time just to catch up with others while we wait, doing stretches or rotating breaks or offering up help to the carpenters or guard if they need an extra hand.

we have more training-heavy days but even then, it’s only a competition if someone’s interested in making it out to be one. there’s no point in hierarchy when we’re all to contribute to the same task or when dragoons, depending on location, work in entirely different ways.

both my fathers (his birth father and adoptive father, richard, being referenced here--we’re operating off of mixed ff2/ff4 canon) rode dragons and never jumped like baron’s dragoons do, baron’s dragoons thus having no experience with wyverns.

if a dragoon was judged solely on the height of their jump, neither of my fathers in all their valor would be considered good enough, so i see no point in being strict about qualifications other than desire to do good for baron or in some circumstances, ourselves.

but on off hours it’s ensuring no one’s made a martyr of themselves on the clock, drinking some, goading your brother into doing both taking breaks and having a drink (golbez smiles)

sparring, trying to learn healing from rosa, talking about anything until it gets dark, exploring anywhere in town we think we haven’t studied closely enough. playing cards

helping my mother fish and bring her catch to market, bartering with the other townspeople and trying not to cut my fingers off hacking fish apart, making sure the elderly get their picks first. appreciating those bartered, community-made goods like some kind of dragon’s hoard. taking the wyvern back home out into the forest, “training” with her, if you’d consider doing tricks and trying to outrun her training

i haven’t tried art but i think if it’s hands-on enough and it can look bad the whole way through then...”

golbez laughs at that and the depth of it rumbles in kain’s chest, despite the low volume

“maybe i’ll try that then. i could stand to try something new and do it poorly”

“doing something poorly for the first time in your life?”

“oh no, absolutely not” and they both chuckle, far less serious about themselves than they assumed a year ago

Loves the Ultimate Wife Material Gojo half sibling expansion with Geto.

I have to ask though when what happens after that ‘mission’ with things between them? What about when Geto finds the twins? Would he still end up killing the village?

I can imagine three possibilities from this.

1. Geto takes the twins and does not kill the village because he knows not all non-sorcerers are bad and raises the twins with Ultimate Wife Reader, so Gojo now has two nieces to spoil rotten.

2. Geto kills the village and takes the twins, he goes to the Ultimate Wife Reader to apologize and give them one last hug before he leaves them for good.

3. The most painful thing to imagine but if Geto killed Gojo sibling, Gojo would absolutely have killed Geto when he found out what he did.

I think it depends on what kind of ending you'd want the story to have lmao - if we are talking about me personally, I want them to have a happy ending together. Everyone around me knows I hate angst with a passion, so whenever I get to not think about the bad side of things I tend to do that instead haha.

However I am a hardcore book reader from a young, so I understand the importance of not diverging from canon content. If we are following the canon content, we can say that the second would be the most likely outcome. If Gojo!Sibling was a thing, I think he'd not lose hope for every non-sorcerer out there. I think he'd murder the village, and probably just went into hiding whilst he is at it. He wouldn't have lost it and called everyone 'monkeys' and thinking that they are beneath him - cause he has been shown all the love and attention he can ever crave from another person. But people still snap under pressure - and what is what happened honestly. And because he knows that if he surrendered the higher ups might do something to the twins; and he can't let that happen. So he defected and ran into hiding.

If I have a say in it though, I think it he probably just stole the kids and let some low-levelled Curse out to teach them a lesson. Not something that'd cause huge damage, but one that will cause so much headache and annoyance and unnecessary trauma to kids by scaring them lmao (he collected the Curse after 'forgetting' about it for a few days). But he brought the kids home and they have a little family of their own. And since Gojo!Sibling is not on the best of terms with the Gojo family anyway, so they took the girls in as their own and started their little family together.

Either way tho, I like all the parallel universes that can come from this hc! Cause the different outcome brings different stories c:

Kiddo FCs for me:

Edmund: Kate goes into labour two weeks early when Anthony is in Parliament and he gets a message from Violet to come quickly. He just up and leaves, knocking a few people out of his way, races home on a horseback. Violet is there with her but Kate's in a lot of pain and screming for Anthony. When Anthony reaches home he just takes off his coat, rushes in, rolls up his sleeves and goes to sit behind Kate. Kate's leaning on him and they hold hands while she struggles to bring their child into this world. And obviously they cry when they hold Neddy. And everyone is waiting for news and rushes over to meet the newest Bridgerton and Violet cries when she hears his name from Anthony. Her baby now has a baby of his own. He's a sweet boy and he wants to be like his papa but is also wise and patient like Kate. He worships his parents and is their number one champion. Also since he's grown up in a home filled with love, he'll only settle for a love match in the future.

Miles/baby named after Kate's appa (season 4): Comes easier than Neddy but Anthony is taking no chances and wants to be there for the birth again. Of course Anthony refuses to leave Kate's side this time and is at home throughout her last few days of confinement. They are both better prepared for this one. Neddy is waiting with granny Violet and aunt Hyacinth. When he goes to meet his new brother, he runs up to his mama and asks if she's okay and if she was in a lot of pain. And he swears to protect his baby brother because he's the first born of two first borns duh. Miles is a funny baby, he sleeps and cries a lot but he always calms down near his mama, papa or Neddy. Sophie and Gregory are his favourites. Also, he's totally mama's boy.

Charlotte/baby named after Kate's amma (season 6): The easiest birth by far for the most demanding baby. This one is a total hellion like Kate and is stubborn af. She wants all the attention and the good thing is she gets it from her dad and her two older brothers who are even more protective that Anthony or Kate ever were. She's going to give Anthony a lot of grey hairs when she grows up to be the most beautiful woman anyone has ever seen but her parents are proud of how strong, smart and loyal she is. She loves her uncle Michael and is best friends with little Violet.

Oops baby girl/don't know if they'll name her after Mary (season 8): The sweetest little girl to ever exist. Her birth was the most difficult and Anthony cried for days because he really thought he was going to lose either Kate or this perfect little angel. She's everyone's baby now, people literally have her in their arms all the time, she's never put in her bassinet or cradle. And her favourite person in the world is her papa. She has Anthony wrapped around her little finger and she knows it too. She's also the kindest of the lot and reminds Kate so much of her appa!

Also I got a request to do Kathony Pregnancy HCs a while ago and that can be found here! Just for this ask and your brilliant writing, I'm going to call you Writer ✍️ Anon.

I mostly wrote about cravings and how Anthony and the kiddos interact with Kate while she's pregnant. I love all the extra details you've given here. Honestly I agree with most of them in terms of the pregnancies!

As for who they are as people, I've been reading so much of @hptriviachamp Trivia's Next Gen HCs and The Courtship of Charlotte Bridgerton series that it has become canon to me. So I do have to disagree with most of these HCs but you’re still valid for how you view the kiddos.

My read is basically on who they are in the birth order as well as agreeing with Triv’s assessments of their love lives. There are some bits that diverge and that’s what I’m going to talk about here [Under the cut cos it got long lmao]:

Edmund:

As much as Kathony tries to raise him to feel loved and like he doesn’t need to have the weight of the world on his shoulders, he is still a first born and we’re all fucked up. We are after all the test children lmao and Kathony isn’t immune to making mistakes raising their kiddos. He wouldn’t feel as responsibility ridden as his parents did because he wasn’t parentified after losing one of them like they were but he is still very protective and feels responsible for his siblings. He’s also very eager for his title and responsibilities as a future Viscount. So personally, I think he is kind of a stiff always trying to be the ‘perfect’ Viscount

And I agree with Triv that Anthony would go easy on him so as to not repeat history with having Neddy grow up too fast but Edmund sees it as his dad not trusting him to take over from him so cue Daddy Issues. He just wants to impress his parents and society, it takes a toll on him tbh. As far as love matches go, while he believes in it because of his parents I think kind of like me he initially ends up with a highly romanticised version of what love should be and has a lot of failed romances in his early seasons and as he hits his late 20s, he starts going for the older women and men - yes our boy is bi as fuck.

This HC is fully credited to Triv but yeah I can definitely see him settling with an older woman, a widow and adopting her child.

Miles or as I like to call him Madhavan:

UO: I’ve hated the name Miles for Miles because it sounds so modern and just doesn’t seem to fit him as a name itself. So I’m taking this opportunity to rename him Madhavan after my HC for Kate’s dad’s name in the show is Madhavan (my usual go to name for him is Thaman but I wanted something close to Miles).

Anyways he goes by Madha and this is where my HCs differ from Triv. I think he’s a PEAK middle child. While Kathony does their best with all the kiddos, I think Miles just tends to be overlooked at times solely because he liked to keep to himself as a kid and is more quiet (kinda like Frannie) so they think he’s independant and leaves him to his own devices. But he ends up feeling isolated in his own family so in his teens to young adulthood, he starts kicking up a fuss to get his parents’ attention. Boy definitely had a scandal or two. Eventually after talking it through with his parents, he mellows out. Meets a girl who actually sees him for who he is and they settled down with your usual picket fence. Most likely the only one of the Kathonys to have a couple of kids - maybe 3.

Charlotte/Charithra:

So I adore her name but I despise the new Show!HC popping up that she might get named after Queen Charlotte rather than Kate’s mom so I AM REJECTING that energy. I’ve flipped flopped a couple of times on what her mom’s name would have been and it was always Chandra/Chandri/Charithra. Chandra sounded too old, Chandri was after my aunt but I didn’t like how it ended with an ‘i’ it looks like an incomplete name when written down lmao. And I think Charithra is a very pretty name and it also starts with Char like Charlotte tho I’d like to think Show!Charithra goes by Chari.

So while I love Triv’s fic and her interpretation of Charlotte, I think Chari would be pretty different. Yes, she is another middle child and is discreet - I agree with Triv on that front but I think while she does go by the book in some aspect she is still an middle child and always needs to make her presence known. I think like Kate, she would be a very formidable and intimidating deb, she’s more subtle with her digs than her mom was. Definitely pansexual and has shacked it up with almost everyone in her season. Tbh, I don’t think she’d get married, I think she likes having her independence. I think she’d eventually retire to the country with her girlfriend - maybe they have the occasional boy toy here and there.

Mary:

She is BABY!! And OF COURSE she’s still getting named Mary, fuck the show canon, Mary is a present and loving step parent and the best of us. Kate is going to honour ALL THREE of her parents with her kiddos.

Anyways like Triv said, Mary is Kate 2.0 a whole ass menace and while Kate was a little beaten down as the Eldest, Mary never had that responsibility and is PEAK youngest child. She constantly reads all the men for filth and is more direct than Chari is. Also she’s a funky little lesbian. The GC’s talked about this before but omg a lesbian version of Persuasion with Mary would be PEAK romance. But yeah she has this angsty romance with her wife before they get together and her wife is the only one who can get her to chill out a little but again she’s Mary and Kathony’s kid - she has no chill. Like Charlotte, she isn’t that interested in kids and can’t have them anyways being a lesbian and all and neither of them want to fuck a dude just to get a baby so they are the funky lesbian aunts who love treating their nieces and nephews.

As for family connections (lmao can’t believe I missed out that part of your ask til I read back everything):

I think the Sharma-Bridgerton family are very close knit. While sometimes, they hid away their baggage (see: Edmund thinking his dad doesn’t think he’s worthy of responsibility and bottling up those feelings and Madha feeling isolated and not telling anyone til his shit ends him in hot water of a scandal.), they all do share their stories, days and talk about everything at family dinner. That being said with the siblings, I think Edmund and Mary would be really close (a lot of the eldest-youngest sibs are very close I wish I had that *cries*) while Madha and Chari are two sides of the same Middle Child Coin.

I don’t necessarily think they default to Mama’s Boys and Daddy’s Girls and love their parents equally but there is a small preference and it’s alternating - so Edmund is PEAK Daddy’s Boy kinda like how Anthony was with Edmund I himself. Madha is close with Kate and goes to her first about feeling left out and looked over and she totally gets it cos we all saw how London treated her. Charlotte is PEAK Daddy’s Girl and his Princess because she was the only girl for the longest time and she had him wrapped around his finger since Day 1. Mary being Kate 2.0, definitely adores and idolises her mom and much like Edmund trying to be like his dad, Mary emulates her mom very often - albeit she’s more unhinged than Kate.

As for the Cousins & Aunt/Uncles:

So my personal HC is that Saphne, Kathony and Benophie are all very close because they all got married back to back and Simon, Anthony and Benedict are all buddies while Kate and Sophie are besties - Daph is close to them too but the sisters-in-laws have a closer bond since they are the only ones for the first decade. Then when John and Michael marry in, they are also close to Kathony because of Frannie (my personal HC is that Anthony and Frannie are the closest and she’s his fave sister).

In that vein all four of these couples’ kids would be close and besties. Solely based on age, I’d pair the following dynamics: - Edmund, Belinda (both 1815), Amelia (1814), Caroline (1816) - Madha, David (1817) and Charles (1818) get up to alot of hijinks - Charlotte, William (1822), Alexander (1820), & Violet (1824) - also of course Saphne’s ABC are there to be older sisters to Charlotte and Violet its a vibe - Mary and the other babies, Edward, John and Janet.

Bonus HC: Edmund unwittingly forms a group of all the first borns and get together weekly to snark about their annoying younger siblings lmao.

A/N#3: In my HC Liam is a lefty and this is a rare trait only 8% to 9% of the worlds population share. I’m sure that I am not the only author nor the last that would HC this trait. I can only hope that my attention to this detail differs from theirs and offers something to the story.

*I suppose you can read this on its own but the story below is related to the promise as a whole. Once completed part four will pick up. This story is central to the plot *also this story has been in my drafts for two years so I wanted to give it its own moment so consider this a story within a story*

Applewood - (Liam’s Social Season)

Leo’s Quarters

Leo looked outside the window of his room and saw suitors arriving, each being assisted with endless amounts of fine designer luggage, hat boxes, and handbags. Despite the four-hour ride, their makeup, hair, and outfits were impeccable. He thought about what they can offer Cordonia and what they can offer his brother. Madeline was never a part of this thought process; she clearly wanted one thing: a crown she could offer Liam nothing. Hana was sweet, but he could tell early on her heart wasn’t into the competition, only following the path her parents wanted for her she wasn’t searching for love but acceptance. Kiara was ambitious, but she wanted to use Liam’s position for herself, not for their people. Penelope didn’t have much of an opinion or direction; she seemed to just want to be in the Court’s inner circle. More concerned with dresses and canine couture over matters of Governance.

Of course, there was Olivia. Olivia was strong and bold, and she would be perfect if Liam loved her. Liam and Olivia spent hours together as children, as teenagers, young adults, and adults. Love if there was anything more than friendship had ample time to blossom, and it didn’t even begin to bloom. Least, not for his little brother. Liam always found Olivia to be quick to temper, often lacking patience and tenderness. Something Leo knew his brother craved and needed. But whatever Olivia thought she felt for his brother would never be reciprocated. Olivia would always be seen as a friend, and her pride didn’t allow her to accept it.

But then there was her, the one. Everything he knew his brother wanted, and at the same time, everything Cordonia needed. She stood outside the limousine taking in the scenery of the manor with her baseball cap in her hands, wearing ripped jeans and a T-shirt. Finally, someone true to herself. Someone that didn’t care to stage her appearance for a four-hour uncomfortable drive. Bertrand was heard directing the staff to pick up her tattered green top-loading sea duffel bag stamped with the letters USMC. She walked over to the staff, and he could see her shaking her head and being handed back the bag. She put it onto her shoulder. When she turned, he saw the number 08 and the name Garcia printed on the back of her shirt.

He and his brother lived in a world where, when it came to a choice of a spouse, perfection was valued over authenticity, conformity over individualism, and passiveness over assertiveness. Leo believed his brother needed the opposite of what was expected of his choice of bride and Cordonia’s next Queen regent. Cordonia didn’t need a Queen who was quiet, meek, and not willing to argue or express her opinions. Although he loved her, Cordonia didn’t need another Regina who resigned herself to organizing tea parties, bridge games, taking on responsibility for charitable causes, or blindly performing the task his Father directed her to do.

Leo had regrets about abdication that he kept to himself. It was not because he risked it for love and failed with Katie but because he realized his brother would have to prove himself twice as hard as he would have. There was a lot at stake for the Kingdom, and he couldn’t undo his abdication; his little brother was left with a responsibility that he wasn’t born to take. They both received the best education Cordonia had to offer, but the intensity of their studies differed. Leo was taught to rule, be direct, know the laws and treaties like the back of his hand, train to study personalities, and read people quickly, whereas Liam was taught to follow and support. But despite what they were taught, Leo believed his brother was the better choice, and he was more than capable of steering Cordonia to a more modern era. He would create new relationships and repair relationships his Father alienated.

However, the royal council is appointed for the life they would favor; his Father’s ideals. Liam would get resistance from its members stuck in their ways, comfortable in their positions, afraid of change. His brother needed a strong spouse by his side, who wasn’t raised with the docile ideology of how a lady of the Court should comport herself. Liam would forever need a wife, a friend, an ally, a leader, and someone he can trust.

When he thought of Jessica, he saw just that and someone with all the qualities that could withstand the rigors of a royal council divided. Jessica was ready for the responsibility of what it meant to be Liam’s wife because she was there for him. In a matter of weeks, she learned their customs and navigated Court just as well if not better than any suitor. She engaged with nobles and royalty in law, art, history, and music but what he loved about her was that she engaged with the staff and the public, never forgetting she once held a job like theirs. The most significant criticism of the Rys throne was how out of touch they were with their subjects, and Jessica was relatable to the people the throne served and protected, which made her special.

A rhythmic tap sounded against the door that snapped Leo out of his thoughts. He called out, “It’s okay little brother, I’m alone.”

Liam entered with a sad expression on his face.

Leo mumbled, “So, I take it that your ride with father wasn’t full of fatherly advice and kingly pleasantries?”

Liam sighed as he rubbed his hands over his face in frustration. “Leo, what exactly does he want? I divide my attention between the suitors, but I want to spend my time with her whenever I can. Everything is happening so fast. If I have a moment to myself, I want to spend it with her. I simply don’t care to spend time with anyone else.”

Leo mumbled, “I see. Who is he saying you need more time with?”

Liam looked dreadful as he uttered the name. “Madeleine. He thinks I will warm up to her. He believes she is the right choice for Cordonia. So the other night, he wanted me to have high tea with her. “He sighed with a distant look in his eyes, retracing the memory. “I was about to call the staff for tea service, and I saw her outside from my office window…I thought I could just say hello. What was meant to be a brief greeting was actually a four-hour conversation. Time just got away from us. Leo, it was the highlight of my day. Just being with her talking about whatever came to mind. She has the most amazing laugh, and when she smiles, her whole face lights up. It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.” Liam wrung a hand down his face. “Leo, how can I make the choice Father thinks he knows what best but Jessica… brightens my day. I think about her more than I should.”

“So, is your time with her important to you?”

Liam threw himself onto the bed and stared at the ceiling. “The longer we’re together, the more I think about what really matters, and so many things I once thought important don’t even make a list.”

Leo gave his brother a warm smile and said, “Then you are spending your time wisely.”

“I am almost afraid to admit it…I have this warm feeling in the pit of my stomach when she is near when I reach for her hand, and we touch. I feel my breathing and heartbeat sync with hers, and wherever my pains or troubles are, wane completely. I’m not incomplete, and everything about life feels right. I have never felt I belonged with anyone until I met her. When I walked her to her room that night she got on her toes and kissed me sweetly. Then she said ‘I wish we could do this all the time.’ I feel the same. I wish I could kiss her every day. Her lips belong on mine.” Liam smiled as he touched his lips.”

Leo smiled with a chuckle, “Liam, it sounds like you are in love.”

His eyebrows turned up in a vulnerable expression as he turned his head to his brother. “Leo, I’m afraid of just asking her how she feels about me. To look her in the eyes and ask her if she loves me. If she feels the same way, I do. What if I’m mistaken? What if she is just taken with me and she isn’t in love with me? Father says its duty to the crown before love. But Leo, I want her to love me. When I ask her to spend her life with me, I want her to want it as much as I do. I want her to feel the same way I do. That I’m her first thought in the morning, the last before she falls asleep, to wonder throughout the day what am I doing. I really want that type of love. Life would feel empty without it now that my heart knows it.”

“What makes you doubt that she does?”

“We have only had a few stolen moments since she came here. This whole thing is about me. It’s about me choosing a wife, but I want her to choose me too. This is a promise of my heart, body, and soul, and to no other Leo. I will never stray; she has all of me. I need to know that I have all of her. I want Jessica to want Liam, the man. Everything is some challenge, some ball, some Cordonian tradition… What if that all fades with the demands of the Court? I am not just choosing a wife, I am also choosing a Queen, and I am unsure if I can have both.” Liam looked back to the wall with uncertainty and worry in his eyes.

Leo hummed in his throat. “Hm…I see. Liam, there is really one way to find that all out.”

hype about writing

so while I haven’t done writing accountability in a while, I am getting back into writing, even though my shitty medication is still... shitty.

I’m still working on a fic for the Domaystic prompt event - I know May is long gone, but I really liked my idea of connected drabbles for each prompt. So I’m doing that.

For Iddy Iddy Bang Bang I’m writing a Hanahaki fic - it’s a weird mix of explicit gore (with eye trauma and all) and cute mutual pining. I feel this is the epitome of my soul, lol.

And also an added canon divergence AU which I AM CRAVING - a slow burn, mutual pining with identity porn. Gimme a good two body love triangle, oh my god.

Also for HC bingo - because of course I’ve signed up, who am I if not someone without any impulse control - I started on a very dark fic for a comic book. :DD

And last, I’ve signed up for the AU exchange and Press Start, with some good idea who I will be assigned to, so I’m already done with the outlines.

Maybe I should just focus on one project, but it won’t happen anytime soon.

17. Thoughts on each of the psychic kids? any headcanons of the metaphor within their arc? any canon divergent ideas?

Unpopular maybe, but—with the exceptions of Sam (obvi) and Ava (method actress and queen of my heart)—I don’t really care that much about the psychic kids. I don’t think there’s a ton of metaphor going on: it’s just a lot of people given some highly variable and destructive powers, something something temptation something something alienation. Idk, I don’t think eg Jake’s blackmail or Andy’s death is that deep.

Something I still don’t understand is exactly what Azazel was trying to accomplish with them: if he wanted superpowered hybrids surely it would be better to leave them alive and use them. And if he’s looking for a leader: he spoke to Lucifer but didn’t know which his vessel was? Doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. I hc that he’s just pregaming the apocalypse/getting a bunch of seals ready, I guess.

Canon divergent opinion: improve 2.21 instantly by making Ava, not Jake, the winner of the battle royale. She EARNED it. And because we’re emotionally invested in her the way we’re not in Jake, we are acutely surprised and devastated by her betrayal when she stabs Sam in the back. It would have been SO MUCH BETTER. Let Ava Kill Sam 2k07.

33. Ideal Supernatural ending, when, where?

Before 15.20 aired, I was honestly and abjectly torn on how I wanted SPN to end. I was convinced that I would inevitably hate whatever ending we’d be given. This was because I was pretty sure it was going to be some combination of blaze of glory/dying together, or the brothers hunting or living together forever and everything is Fine. On some level my dearest fear was always that togetherness; I was convinced that SPN as it stood in s15 would be utterly unable to loose the claustrophobic leash on Sam Winchester and let him find any form of peace or fulfillment outside the walls Dean had built.

And at the same time, I knew if SPN in s15 gave me the Sam and Dean divorce that I on some level so desperately craved, it wouldn’t feel earned. It was impossible, because even when Dean leveled a gun at Sam in 15.17, Sam tearfully told him he’d always been his protector. And I ENJOY that level of fucked-up apologism and self-delusion! Yet I instinctively knew I wouldn’t enjoy the finale beatifying that dynamic forever, setting in stone the idea that Sam could never escape and their relationship could never improve. That’s a little too queasily grim even for me, especially because I knew it would be celebrated, in-universe and out.

So I was torn between the freedom I wanted for Sam’s sake, the id-level enjoyment I get out of Sam being trapped, and my conviction that Sam wouldn’t be able to find his way out in the space of one episode. I couldn’t see a way the show could resolve that sticky mess without my intense dissatisfaction, and even less could I imagine that the show would deign to try.

And then 15.20 happened.

And I fucking wept, because OLD SAM. The premise of 15.20 managed to give me the best of all possible worlds: a dose of actual heartwarming brothers, a dose of toxic claustrophobic brothers, and a roadmap for Sam’s recovery, AWAY FROM DEAN. The complex grief of Dean’s death together with the impetus Sam needed to leave this horrible life behind, to build something new and good and untouched with his own two hands: for me there is in principle no possible way to improve on that, once the characters are where they are in s15.

If the field is opened to earlier seasons, though?

I don’t think ending after s5 or s8 would have been particularly satisfying, because even though they wrap up plot arcs, they leave SO MANY strings of emotional development dangling. Same with s13: even if Michael had released Dean, there is just way too much Lucifer aftermath to unpack.

But setting aside my attachment to things that happen in s11+... I would have really enjoyed an ending circa s10 that involved Sam leaving for good/an otherwise explicit premise deconstruction that, at the time, I’d hoped s9-10 was in some way building to.

The canon bases of RudeAggro!Felix and Apologetic!Dimitri

(Since I actually spent an entire evening doing this, I’m posting it because I don’t want to feel I “lost” all that time haha! I sort of do this kind of stuff for work sometimes, so this is clearly the sad fate of a person who can’t leave their work at work and brings it into their hobbies 😂 )

I’ve read a lot of Dmlx fic (in English), and have seen a lot of art, and there’s a trend I’ve noticed in the characterisations of both Felix and Dimitri that stands out to me: Rude and aggressive Felix, and Apologetic Dimitri. More specifically, Felix being rude/aggressive to Dimitri, and Dimitri apologising to Felix. The characterisations stand out to me only because my hc characterisations are more like “tsundere” Felix, and polite Dimitri. There’s obviously an overlap between “rude/aggressive” and “tsundere”, as well as “apologising” and “polite”, but they are not the same thing, at least from the part of the world I come from (I played with the JP audio on English text). I wanted to figure out if I was missing something from canon, so decided to take a short dive and check out the source material.

This meta isn’t an attack on people’s preferences. Creators of fan works depict characters in a variety of ways for personal reasons, and it’s no one’s business to pass judgement on that. I’m not trying to legitimise my hc, or delegitimise othere people’s hc. All I want to know is whether there is strong canon basis for the characterisations, which I might have missed. I’m also not saying that “unless a characterisation is based off canon 100% it’s not legit”. I don’t believe in that statement. Looking at canon is one way for me to see whether the “RudeAggro Felix”, “Apologetic Dimitri” is more a case of creator extrapolation, or based off something very clearly there in the canon.

So I’m gonna look at three bits of text. 1) The words and expressions used in the support conversations, both JP and EN 2) The tone in the voice acting, both JP and EN in the support conversations, and 3) Dimitri and Felix’s lines in Azure Moon route chapters + in the monastery, but only in the JP (it was easier for me to search the JP text quickly, more effort required for the EN). Of course there’s more you can glean about their characters from other supports etc, but I don’t have that much free time…

Heads up I’m a bilingual and bicultural Japanese/Aussie (have lived in both countries), so I’m pretty confident in my interpretations of the JP text and audio.

Rude and Aggressive Felix

There’s a lot of canon for this characterisation to be based on. Listing the words and expressions Felix uses when talking to Dimitri is pretty aggressive, and is meant to be demeaning if we take it at face value.

Felix insults/expressions of aggression

Support C

その気味の悪い笑顔で話しかけるな。/ Go away. (I would add “Don’t talk to me with that creepy/spooky/grotesque smile of yours.”)

見ているだけで胸糞悪くなる。/ Just looking at your face makes me wanna retch 黙れ。獣は獣らしくしていろ。/ Shut up. And stop walking around on your hind legs. 獣 / beast 猪 / wild boar ならばさっさと失せろ、邪魔だ。話しかけるな、この化け物が。/ Hurry up and get out of my sight. I don’t make a habit of talking to beasts.

Support B

猪 / wild boar 貴様 / an aggressive form of addressing “you” in Japanese, although in this sentence it’s not used aggressively 阿呆が。/ Do you take me for a fool? (I took the Japanese more along the lines of “Are you stupid?”) 腹立たしい……。/Looking at your face is making me angry (No JP equivalent) / Farewell, Your Beastliness.

Support A

獣 / beast (but used in the context of the “the face of a beast vs the face of a man” line) 手が滑って斬りつけないうちに、答えろ。Answer quickly before my hand slips and I cut you in half お前の辛気臭い顔が、癇に障って仕方なかっただけだ / I couldn’t stand the pathetic look on your face.

Stepping out of the Dimitri/Felix support conversations for a bit, we know from Felix’s other interaction he is also rude and aggressive. Calling Dedue “dog” is probably the rudest and most demeaning example we have. Telling Ingrid to go and get married is also pretty rude. So overall we have a lot of evidence that Felix is ok with being abrasive, at best. Intentionally hurtful and malicious at the worst.

So Felix is rude to Dimitri in their support conversations, but the rudeness lessens as the support levels increase. As you can see from the list above, the number of expressions of aggression go down between conversations C and A. Felix doesn’t call Dimitri “boar” once in the A support conversation. The last line “癇に障って仕方なかっただけだ / I couldn’t stand the pathetic look on your face” is a bit tricky, since I think there’s a bit of a divergence between the JP acting and EN acting. The JP is very clearly a "tsundere" intonation, meaning there’s a vibe of “I care but am too embarrassed to admit it”. The EN was a lot less obviously for me, so if you only got the EN there’s a chance that Felix’s “I couldn’t stand the pathetic look on your face” comes across at face value - an actual insult.

Outside the support conversations, Felix uses the words “boar/beast” to describe Dimitri specifically quite often. But the intention behind the use seems to change (from an attack on one’s character to a nickname). Looking at the AM route, lines within each chapter + in the monastery phase, we find he uses the words ten times in total. That’s a descent amount, considering the number of lines he probably has overall (I’m not that dedicated to count all his lines… proper methodology would want me to do that though…). The last two times he uses “boar” it seems more of a nickname rather than as a way to attack Dimitri’s person.

A surprise find was that Dimitri uses “beast” five times overall , in the same contexts that I checked for Felix’s use (AM route, lines within each chapter + in the monastery phase in JP). In all cases he is describing either Imperial soldiers, or the baddies at Remier village. Never in reference to himself (which I thought might come up, but didn’t).So

TLDR; There is canon basis of Felix being rude to Dimitri, but it looks like he mellows out a lot by the end of the game. The JP flags the “tsundere” vibes a lot more than the English.

Apologetic Dimitri

I’m gonna start with the numbers from the chapters + monastery sections first, because these are the bits that clearly form the canon basis of “apologising Dimitri”. But with some interesting twists!

As a quick and dirty measure, I searched for the characters 謝 (to catch 謝る、謝罪 etc), 悪 (to catch 悪いな、悪かった), and すまない. I didn’t search for ごめん/ごめんなさい (gomen/gomennasai) bc I bet you three cups of coffee that you won’t find Dimitri using this expression. ごめん/ごめんなさい is more typical of children and women, or super casual. So Edelgard and Claude might use these, but not Dimitri.

Dimitri apologise a ton in the chapters and monastery sections. For all three words, we have 16 expressions of “sorry” from Dimitri. For comparison, I just checked the first five chapters for Claude. Chapters 1-5 Dimitri apologises 7 times, while Claude apologises once. So yeah, canonically, we find good grounds for Dimitri being a person who apologises often. We’ll see later that in his other supports with Blue Lions characters, he apologies to them also.

Dimitri apologises 6 times after Rodrigue dies in chapter 18. And 4 of these apologies are concerning his behaviour while he was disengaged with the war effort/unwell. These kind of feel a bit different to the “sorry to inconvenience you” type apologies that are more typical of his sorries (see list below)

To Byleth: 4, for being boring (1), for making a weird request (1), for Byleth helping out (2) To Edelgard: 2, once about making Edelgard feel bad bc she thought he was underestimating her, and once about the poor choice of gift he gave her during their childhood. To Lonato: 2, for the general badness of the situation To Claude: 1, (but unclear to me what exactly he’s apologising about) To Dedue: 1, for surprising him To Mercedes: 1 (need to check again To a Kingdom soldier: 1, because the soldier was looking for him To Lonato’s soldier: 1, for the general badness of the situation

Most of these apologies are of the “sorry for being an inconvenience” type. This could be interpreted in a variety of ways ranging from just being polite right through to low self-esteem. Whatever the construal, it does seem objectively that Dimitri says “sorry” a lot more than other male characters who might have as many lines.

Dimitri and apologising to Felix

Dimitri apologising to Felix, we have exactly one example in the chapter conversations. In chapter 18, Dimitri says to Felix “I have no words to apologise adequately” or something along those lines, regarding Rodrigue’s death. (And shortly after, Felix addressed Dimitri by name).

We have zero cases of Dimitri apologising to Felix in the support conversations. For a quick comparison in his other support conversations, Dimitri apologises to Ashe once, Sylvain once, Ingrid once, Annette twice, Mercedes three times (but the expressions he uses are different to the three I mention earlier). Interestingly, Dimitri also doesn’t apologise to Dedue.

These numbers might just be reflecting the fact that Dimitri and Felix’s support conversations aren’t really topics where apologies would be made. Dimitri and Felix’s support conversations aren’t about burdening each other, being a nuisance, or supporting each other. Their support conversations are actually about Felix coming to terms with Dimitri’s dual nature, while Dimitri himself seems seems unbothered by it. (The only place in canon we really see Dimitri using his words to express remorse and discomfort over his dual nature seems to be his A+ support with Mercedes).

Dimitri’s responses to Felix’s rudeness in support C are more like indirect affirmations of Felix’s characterisations of him (“A beast craving blood, am I? I assume you’re speaking of the events two years ago”, “I deny nothing, Felix.”, “Perhaps you’re right.”). Maybe a little bit resigned. There are a handful of sad-faces. It actually seems to me that Dimitri is in general agreement with Felix.

In support B, Dimitri is unbothered by Felix’s abrasiveness. When Felix gives him a hard time, Dimitri tends to push back (“As though I would be careless with something so valuable.”, “Come now, that was so long ago!”). In this entire exchange it’s only Felix who is bothered by something, while Dimitri seems quite oblivious to Felix’s turmoil. The final line in this support is Dimitri saying “What is going on with him…”

Support A Dimitri is quite assertive of himself (“ Do not waste your breath on questions with such obvious answers / 当たり前のことを聞くな”, “ You are wrong/ ……違う”), still a it resigned (“Always so ominous / お前はいつも物騒だな。”), but unlike supports A and B, showing awareness of Felix’s internal state, and thanks Felix.

Dimitri seems generally unbothered by Felix giving him a hard time, and Dimitri does not apologise for his character. Dimitri seemed ok with his dual nature, while it was Felix who was more bothered by it. But by the end of the game, if support A is reached, Felix also comes around to accept the dual nature. Dimitri and Felix aren’t really in an “apologise to each other” relationship, because it seems from Dimitri’s POV, there is nothing about himself that he needs to apologise to Felix for.

So TLDR

There is good canon basis for rude/aggro Felix. There is good canon basis for apologetic Dimitri. Dimitri apologises a lot in canon, but not really Felix. The one time he apologises is concerning Rodrigue’s death. But given that Dimitri does apologise to people often for inconveniencing them, it’s not hard to imagine how Dimitri would apologise to Felix for inconveniencing him in some way.

So I don’t think I missed anything in canon, but fan creators extrapolate these canon bases into various directions. Which is cool! Because isn’t that the fun of doing fan works!

So @shellsan tagged me to reply to some questions and I’ll be happy to do so~!

Favourite trope/s? Least favourite trope/s?

I’m reply to these together, to be honest I don’t think I really pay attention to tropes? Or it might be that I don’t really know what categorize as one. Like if you give me one, I can say how much or little I love it, but I blank out thinking of them myself.

But! I do enjoy a lot (like, a lot) anything to do with Time Travel and Crossovers (especially when both canon are kept as they are and meet, rather than “FandomA!AU for Fandom B”). In one fandom (BBC Merlin, and I see you liking it too), I enjoyed a lot the Watch the Show fics; I think because of how much it would rely on having Merlin’s magic revealed and all the things most of everyone missed out.

Since we’re here in fandom trops; for DGM my fave trope is anything where Allen either grows up with the Noah or joins them and just generally getting a family out of them. Meanwhile, for MDZS, it’s time travel and fix it/everyone live (goldmines are when both tropes are used in the same fic).

I can’t say if I have a least favourite, but I generally avoid unrequited love (unless its thought as unrequited but is in fact returned). I’m a bit meh about love triangles/characters “fighting” for someone love, but depends heavily how its written. Or what the intent is.

Favourite Universe to read in (AU, Canon, Canon-Divergence), especially for the fandoms you list below?

For most fandoms, I tend to first enjoy canon and canon divergent content. It’s the whole feeling of wanting more of the original canon, and all the ways people can add in, change things, and stuff like that. After a bit though, I also start to indulge in AUs.

In general, I get attracted most to anything that mirrors canon or keeps a certain sense of canon. So canon-divergence, canon au, and aus that retains dynamics similar to canon are the fics I’m most interested in.

AU’s that you can’t get into/don’t usually read?

That’s a good question. I can’t say anything comes to mind? If the summary/tags make me curious I’ll check, if I like I read.

Favourite fandoms to read fanfiction from?

At present time, I’m mostly reading MDZS fics. Whenever the mood hit me, I go back to DGM, but my mind hyper-focused right now. In a general sense, DGM and MDZS (with sometimes BBC Merlin) are the fandoms I’ll read for, as they remain my top three faves.

Favourite ships for said fandoms?

MDZS: Wangxian, I like other ships but I don’t seek out fics focused on those ships, those other ships are Xuanli, 3Zuns, Junior Trio, and XY/MXY (I dont know why but my mind threw those two together).

DGM: Neallen and Tykillen are the two I love the most, and I also love the OT3 with Nea, Allen and Tyki all together. I do like a lot of others ships, but yeah, I’m weak for those three.

BBC Merlin: it’s been a while since I did read fics for Merlin (not counting the one I just did it caught my eyes okay), but Merthur still my fave ship. I enjoy it in any form, and I kind of love it when Gwencelot is a side pairing. But like with MDZS, I don’t really seek fics of other ships I like (said ships being Gwencelot, Merwaine, Freylin, Gwaine/Morgana). I do think current me though might appreciate polyamory, there is a potential for it after all and it’s nicer than the ship wars (that I hope have calmed down since last I actively checked the fandom). If I would go all out and put all ships I like in the polycule, they would be: Arthur/Merlin, Lancelot/Gwen, Morgana/Gwen, Gwaine/Merlin, Arthur/Gwen, Merlin/Freya, Merlin/Morgana, Gwaine/Morgana.

Favourite characters for said fandoms?

In MDZS, I... feel like I love Wei Wuxian a lot and then I love everyone else?? I mean like, Lan Wangji, Jiang Cheng, Jiang Yanli, Wen Ning, the Juniors trio. I like most other characters that play major roles (exclude antagonists, except JGY and XY, I love how much I want to scream at them).

In DGM, Allen is my first love, Nea is my second, then it’s a bit of many characters at same level of appreciation, more or less (Tyki, Cross, Mana, Lavi, Kanda, Lenalee, Road, Wisely).

In BBC Merlin: Merlin and Arthur first, then Gwaine and Lancelot, then Morgana and Mordred and the rest of the round table knights.

Underrated characters in those fandoms you want to see more of in fanfics?

I’m the kind of person who can love a lot of characters and ships (on various degree) but tend to hyperfocus on a single character and then my OTP(s) for them, and as you can see above I do get hearteye for protagonists a lot. So I can’t quite say who is underrated, but I can more or less speak about characters I think it would be great to see more about.

In MDZS, it is definitely Mo Xuanyu. We know so little about him, pretty much everything we do know is given from others perspective, so there’s no way to know what is real. It leaves open for a lot of hcs, and so it’s interesting to see the different views. But just... I need so much more of MXY lives fics ;;;;;

I think in DGM, I definitely want to see more fics with Mana and Nea (especially interacting with current Allen), but I dont think those two count as underrated. And in BBC Merlin, I can’t think of anyone I personally want to see more of.

What is your favourite length of fic to read?

Any lengths, I rarely pay attention to the length of a fic, like a look at chapters and word counds but mostly just to decide if I have time to start reading it or if it’s going on my to-read list, but I never really, consciously think about it.

Preferred/most common ‘rating’ to read?

Again, I don’t really pay attention to it. Actual ratings, more than half the time I dont even notice which is put. Tags/warnings, I’ll take a look but its more like assessing than truly pausing to process them.

The three tags you look for most when you pick a fanfiction to read?

As mentionned in previous reply, I don’t really pay attentions to tags. It’s only if I’m looking to satisfy a specific craving I’ll properly filter, but most often it differs based on the fandom.

I would say that currently, I’m keeping an eye on MDZS tag for Time Travel, Fix-it and Canon Divergence.
