hazbin fans give me major "thinks that because they're queer they can call other people queer slurs, even if it's one they can't reclaim" vibes

also "poc can't be racist" vibes to a lesser extent because they constantly bring up Viv being of Salvadoran descent whenever she gets criticism about the portrayal of different races in her shows

What confuses me most for the latter part is that she is still white, no? That's her ethnicity that most mention but, correct me if I am wrong cause I could be trippin, ain't there black and white Salvadorans? Just like how there are black and white Americans, there are black and white Salvadorans, no? So would she not be equal to that of a white american???

This has always thrown me for a loop because of that fact but I don't know her life like that.

I’m sorry but the more people complain about Chaggie being the main ship name for Charlie and Vaggie, the more I feel inclined to not care and the more I wanna use it out if spite.

WE ALREADY SETTLED ON FALLENSTAR! So use that name if you don’t like Chaggie! (Imo it would make tagging hard since Chaggie is still the prime ship name but that’s neither here or there.)

My problem with this whole thing is that we’ve been using meshed names for ships for…YEARS! And now suddenly people have so much of a problem with it to the point that a decent chunk of the Chaggie content on this platform is about complaining about the name instead of it being actual content.

And I’m going to say it right now….I don’t even think Chaggie is a bad name at this point. It’s clear and cut to the point where no one can mistake the ship for another and it rolls off the tongue decently. I tried to sympathize with the people that don’t like it…but this is getting annoying af.

I think it’s funny that a lot of the people against Hazbin criticism (not all!! Not all!!!) immediately assume that the person criticizing the show or Viv are white, Christian, conservative, homophobes, racist, etc

Weirdly enough, it’s lobbed at critics who are the exact opposite??

I’ve seen these be lobbed at a POC woman literally discussing how the POC representation in was wack, people in the LGBT community discussing how the rep was wack, and weirdly enough, towards an article specifically talking about the show was repackaged Christian values

(Also the odd amount of fans who are racist when defending their progressive show, it’s not much of the fandom but it appears enough to take notice)

Feel what you want to feel about these criticisms, but like?? Weird that a lot of people against the criticisms assume that about critical blogs

Still thinking about that one post someone made where they said they wished Angel Dust was “neurodivergent” (They mean autistic, but they kept saying ND instead of autistic…for some reason) and that what if instead of him being hypersexual as a result of his trauma, he’s simply just a silly goofy guy who doesn’t understand boundaries 😬

The cherry on top was when they said that it was a missed opportunity to make Niffty canonically have ADHD, which also plays into stereotypes and shows a complete lackluster understanding of the condition

I’m ganna be honest, I have NO idea where everyone is getting the “Val still abuses Vox” thing because that was never confirmed like…am I tripping? Sure, Val abused Vox in the Instagram’s, but they’re not canon, and people forget that we barley know anything about Vox and Val’s relationship at all, outside from the fact that they’re business partners and fuck buddies, if you’ve seen the character description leaks. Other than those however, we know NOTHING about their relationship, Viv never spoke of them like that or upright, so I don’t know why people are portraying Vox as some victim like Angel, because this is just one of the situations where we have to just wait till the show comes out to see it for ourselves.

Anywho here’s the long awaited Vaggie redesign! I made her outfit similar yo Charlie’s and added gold on her to elude to get angelic identity! She’s also more purple!! I’m so sorry but I can’t stand seeing her in red, it’s just not fitting, her final battle outfit was cool makes me wish she was in that all the time with her hair tied up.

I gave her tufts of fur to bring out her moth look and also because in one of her past designs she had these bright pink fluffy leg warmers so I thought that was cool, I also gave her gold cracks in her skin and made her X’s resemble crosses in her hair.

I wanted to make her look more demonic bit still keep her bright and soft enough to give of that lingering angelic look!

Hey, isn't it so..."Great" that Viv is out here liking posts that clearly find moments where Angel is being sexual with his rapist "Hot" How much more telling can this all get, right? We really sit here, having to explain how fucked up it is to take SA, try to tackle it "seriously" but then proceed to not even do it for that reason. Only for it to be for angst and goon material. To make this ranking, all series titles in the Other Media category on November 29 (or the closest date to it) of every year were copy-pasted to Google Sheets, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then manually filtered since not all web video series were marked as such.

Locked fanworks aren't included in the count because Wayback Machine can’t view those, only Ao3 users can.

Many authors started locking their works starting December 2022. It's most likely the reason the number of fanworks decreased or slowed down in 2023.

Bar chart starts at 2010 because there were no web series in Other Media in 2009.

The Dream SMP tag was only considered an Additional Tag in 2021-early 2022, which is why it's not listed in Other Media earlier than that.

If you say a healthy relationship where the characters respect each other and are an equal level is "boring" you are an instant red flag to me, because every person who says this turns out to be a piece of shit that glorifies abuse and, if they are a creator, generally suck at storytelling as well

EDIT: Just to clarify I don't mean you can't enjoy toxic ships. I didn't get it across well, but what I'm talking about is fans who ignore blatant abuse and try paint it as a "spicy romance" and dismissing healthier ships/couples as "boring and vanilla".
