One thing that's so tremendously disheartening about the JK Rowling situation is the complete lack of coverage in the (British) media.

It is not something that should be written off as just some twitter drama. The richest author on the planet, a woman who has a long running BBC TV show based on one book series and another in the works with Max for a separate series, a woman who has millions of followers on socials, theme parks and plays based on her works, who is profiting from her continued role in a generation's nostalgia every single second has- completely literally- denied Nazi crimes. And no-one influential cares. She is not going to face consequences for this.

The only thing more disheartening is that if the press did call her out for (again) literally denying Nazi crimes, it'd just make her book sales go up.

Yo, so, are we like "uncanceling" J.K. Rowling now???

Like, as far as I'm aware, she's still a fucking TERF but I've seen a few recent articles talking about how she's being "uncancelled" (because apparently being called out for being a TERF is "canceling" someone... WTF)

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this???

Edit: I've been informed J. K. Rowling is NOT being "uncancelled," The media is just trying to make it SEEM like she's being "uncancelled"

I really hope the next series shows different povs from Harry's. The books and movies are restricted to Harry's pov. The show has the chance to add others pov and making it unique instead of trying to copy movies.

For example what Ron and Hermione do when harry isn't with them. They spend SOOOO much time together without Harry around, they are bound to have their own dynamic. In book 5, at the grimmauld place they stay together the whole summer without Harry. What are they doing? How close are they?

Then in book 7. It's just the two of them most of the times.

I really hope they show us more other characters' pov. Like the other minister, spinners end these two chapters.

Endgame Couples in Harry Potter that I often wonder about - rambles and questions

Angelina Johnson & George Weasley:

Angelina eventually marries her late boyfriend's brother?

I'm curious as to how that even happens. What's the thought process behind that for her? What about how George feels about it?

Like- girl ended up with her dead boyfriend minus one ear and half of his livelihood gone...

Don't get me wrong, George definitely deserves a great life and future...

But also, (for George) how do you date your dead brother's girlfriend in the first place?

Idk the only real "solution" is that they helped each other through the grieving process of Fred's death???

Bill Weasley & Fleur Delacour

I can't say I'm well versed in the details of their relationship but... it's definitely interesting.

They definitely have relationship goals moments:

They met by chance: at Gringotts as coworkers

Fought alongside each other during the war

THE WEDDING

But also...

Bill caught Fleur's eye when she was in the Triwizard Tournament: Fleur was 17 Bill was 24 💀💀

How'd that even happen????

Like- whaaaat?

That means that Bill was 18 when Fleur was just starting school at Beauxbatons (which I assume was when she was 11)...

I mean- in hindsight, it's not that bad... but I wish we got more or a build up yk?

Like- Charlie was literally working at the Triwizard Tournament because of the Dragons... how did she not meet him first?

Ginny Weasley & Harry Potter

No. They had an amazing setup, but no.

It's like dating your younger sister.

There was also no buildup, chemistry, or reason.

I also thought the saving Ginny from Tom Riddle was supposed to be a nod at the "Handsome Prince saves the Damsel in Distress" trope... yeah no.

Also, Ginny literally disappears and has no relevance/importance to the stories after that, only becoming relevant when she started dating Dean Thomas (which I personally thought was cute) and Harry suddenly realized that he was in love with her all of a sudden. There's no buildup, and they had no chemistry in the supposed romantic scenes...

They honestly just did Ginny dirty....

Nymphadora Tonks & Remus Lupin

Ouch. This made me cry.

Ok I get that the 13 year difference is a bit odd... but to some degree it makes sense:

Remember that Tonks' mother married for love, even if it was out of the norm. Tonks is literally continuing the legacy lol

Lupin and Tonks were both outcasts, they relate to each other and appreciate their uniqueness

Anyway, their sacrifice was brutal but also devastatingly beautiful

HBO has officially announced the HP series

And I'm terrified.

Last week when it was rumoured, the small part of me that actually believed it was hopeful and excited, but now that it has been officially announced I am only shocked and terrified.

I keep thinking of the worst possible things that could happen. It's being promoted as a 'faithful adaptation' but so were the movies. If it is actually faithful, great, but what if it's not?

I don't want to gamble with my heart. I keep wishing it's a prank, or something else entirely. I already have enough to deal with in this fandom. I don't want more burden on my shoulders.

Can you imagine the amount of racism the little girl who is gonna play Hermione will face on internet?

While I am quite excited to see the story again on screen, this one aspect is making me literally cringe. The child actors will get SO MUCH hate for no reason other than the fact grown adults can't let go of their nostalgia. People are obsessed with Emma Watson and movie Hermione even though she was terrible.

Rowling has already chosen a black Hermione in the tcc play. The chances of Hermione playing by a white actor is almost zero. They already said they are looking for diversity. Now imagine what the little girl will face from die hard Emma Watson fans and movie and fanfiction fanatics.

People on Instagram and Reddit will be very very disappointed when they will announce the new Hermione. They are still labouring under the delusion that she will be white. Lol. She won't be. And I just hope they leave that girl alone. She should stay far away from social media.

Harry Potter related thoughts that keep me up at night

Giving people love potions wasn't a big deal: For some reason, when love potions are mentioned, no one is concerned about the effects that it has on the person? The way the one acts after taking a love potion could easily be described as harassing the one they're obsessed with. This can go as far as to stalking... shouldn't the one who slips the potion to this person be aware of the repercussions??? They're literally drugs lol

Death at Hogwarts wasn't a big deal either???: BOY I could talk for hours about this one... Ok sure, in the Harry Potter books, there is an unusual amount of death comparatively to when Hogwarts was running during a normal time period (where there were no warnings of looming war threats...). HOWEVER, there are instances where the teachers and the school purposefully put the students in danger with the risk of losing their lives! Exhibit A: the Triwizard tournament! LIKE WTF!! These kids are battling mermaids and dragons and whatnot! They could also easily get killed by things in the forbidden forest (where they serve detention) and get hurt via the Care of Magical Creatures class that Hagrid taught. Aren't schools supposed to be a safe place where students can peacefully learn?

Which brings me to...

The questionable employment process of staff at Hogwarts: Don't y'all do background checks or interviews? Hogwarts seems to just be hiring randos to teach a class that proved to be the most important class taught at Hogwarts... and the teacher changes every year? Like- Dumbledore, are you ok?
