McDanno throughout the years / Danny's POV

First, heto Hawaii because he has no other choice. Gracie is there and she's everything to him, his entire life and he'd follow her everywhere.

Then, he meets this asshole who pretty much kidnaps him and bullies him into working as his partner. This guy has no regards for rules or for procedures and again, he's an asshole so Danny just has to punch some sense into him.

After that, this man just gives you two tickets to a hotel with dolphins because he knows your daughter would enjoy it and suddenly, somehow he gets under his skin in a different way.

After that, Danny starts to feel something whenever he looks at Steve and sees hoe truly soft and good and kind he is.

He helps Danny with visitation, and despite what he claimed, Danny doesn't want a new partner.

But things start to get messy with Rachel again, and Steve gets hurt, and Rachel and he might be able to figure it out even though it feels wrong and not at all like it felt before.

But he needs to try and make it work because Gracie deserves two parents and this is the family he's always wanted and that his daughter deserves.

Then Rachel gets pregnant and this is his chance to make things right even if it doesn't quite feel right so he says they can go back to Jersey.

Danny isn't sure he can actually leave Steve, but he has to try for the sake of this ideal of a nuclear family.

Steve appears more guarded after that but Danny thinks he might be seeing things until he breaks into the governor's house and gets himself arrested.

That it's the deal breaker, Danny would still lie to himself for a while longer but somewhere deep down inside he knew that Steve was as essential to him as his daughter and that for him he'd give up his chance at a happy ending

H20 Just Add Water/Mako Mermaids sorta part 1

Only saw a smidge of Mako Mermaids aka the Rikki makes a five minute cameo episodes. Spoilers abound! Also there is no organization in this review, it jumps everywhere

Not sure what to make of Mako Mermaids because it kinda contradicts the previous show. Also only saw the two episodes where RIkki appeared, how does she have what looks like Cleo’s power? Also how did Zac move a coin without it being wet? Maybe the show explains, but they don’t say anything about how mermaids existed for years without the pod knowing unless they just didn’t care because ‘land people r dangerous’.

The ‘original three’ don’t make sense with MM either, Miss Chatham disappeared after season 1 because maybe she was going senile. She once said her friends were ‘gone’ then was given Julia’s necklace and was devastated...didn’t you already know she was dead? Or maybe it was just the thing that made it finite. Wish there was a story about them. They probably could have hired the actresses back or even new ones that kinda looked like them.

Does Charlotte deserve the necklace? Kinda because it’s her family’s treasure, but she went crazy and was kinda already possessive of Lewis. Then again, Gracie didn’t even want the thing and tossed it away so Charlotte could have found some other heirloom of her grandmother’s. Emma or no Emma? Bella kinda seemed like a copy of season 1 Cleo but slightly more outgoing. Would she like Emma? I think they’d be friends once they got to know each other. But then the importance of the necklaces are tossed aside.  If they were going to throw away the storyline of the ‘original three’ then why not send Charlotte on her way with the necklace? Where did she even go? Did she just tell her mom she didn’t want to live there or did she go live with her dad (assuming they’re divorced and he’s alive)? Vaguely at the end of season 2 she either implies she’s moving or she’s just going to avoid them. Lewis wasn’t upset enough at all the things she pulled. That’s a moment where Lewis should’ve been pissed, not a fake ‘I hate this kind of smoothie’ to get Rikki off his back and annoy Cleo less.

I don’t like Kim or Don’s attitude when it comes to his kids. Kim is literally a demon child and has been since the beginning. He says in season 2 ‘I liked it better when your mom handled these things’ but she didn’t do anything about the fights either. They hear the argument over the MP3 player and just leave instead of trying to sort it out or telling Kim to take the gift.

Why doesn’t Rikki tell her dad? It’s literally just the two of them and he obviously cares about her so telling him would make it easier on her. How does she do chores at home? She can’t heat clean dishes. Also, how did she get clothes on a clothesline if they’re wet? Does her dad have to hang up everything for her? That’s got to be embarrassing if you can’t explain why you can’t hang up your own underwear. I think he’d understand and she doesn’t seem like the type to be scared of what he thinks.

Elliot knows. He has to even if he doesn’t explicitly state it. There’s no way he saw his teammate slip on ice and didn’t think ‘probably Emma because she once gave me an icy shower’. At one point he probably thought they were scared something would happen if anyone found out so he kept quiet. He’s not a genius but he’s not an idiot either. He wasn’t five when he suspected it, he was eleven and an eleven year old isn’t likely to just drop it and accept his sister is just ‘different now’ without explanation. 

Kim is kinda dumb because she was told the tail was Cleo’s first attempt at a costume after accidentally getting splashed. Why would the immediate reaction to getting wet be ‘oh better go try my costume’? The fact that Cleo can make water do what she wants is a perfect opportunity to use them to wash dishes. Or get rubber gloves like when she used to feed the dolphins and scrub and put in a dishwasher that most likely exists. She lives in a nice house, she most likely has a dishwasher where Rikki might not have one.

Emma’s family is pretty well off because they live in a nice big house by the beach and she can hire cleaning and food services whenever she wants. Maybe they’re not as rich as Zane, but they’re still pretty wealthy. Also Harrison probably has a soft spot for Lisa and her family because she literally saved his life as a kid. How did Lisa Gilbert just not notice her daughter wasn’t friendly with Zane or Miriam? Where did Byron go? Were he and Emma officially together or still flirting when he vanished?

Watched a YouTuber who made a valid point that they leave doors open a lot. Mainly Emma’s. It doesn’t even have to be a full moon, they just leave doors open to a big house that probably has some very valuable stuff in it. It’s like the Full House vibes, you leave the door open/unlocked, how have you not all been murdered in your beds? (Rocki was ignored for a similar  statement in Fuller house but she’s right) Full/Fuller House is worse because the kids at the beginning are so young, literally less than a year old, five ish, and 10-12. I can see Emma and Elliot putting up a fight, but not the Full House kids except maybe for young DJ, Jackson, and Ramona. FH is another discussion though, back to mermaids.

Ash also disappeared and his reaction seemed weird. Everyone was at least stunned when they discovered it but he seemed nonchalant as if he knew the entire time which he didn’t. ’Forget it’ in an Australian accent is stuck in my head because everyone, mainly Emma, says it so often it hurts.

H2O & MAKO Headcanon #25

Just a follow-up to the post below:

So, after so long, I felt like reiterating this long-ago possibility that any young girl who saw or met any of the merpeople would become a mermaid later in their lives.

So after combing through which little girl would fit the bill (aka if the child actresses kept acting) and found the one who fit the billl.

Remember Patty?

The 13-year-old girl stole the toy dolphin from Mimmi, who tracked her to a dolphin enclosure. And after Ondina (recklessly) used her powers in front of her, she and Mimmi got splashed by a dolphin and were forced to jump into the enclosure to transform but unfortunately, Patty saw them and brought a crowd to see them while they hid. Luckily, Sirena saved them by telling the crowd they were wearing costumes. Sadly for Patty, she was upset to see Mimmi and Ondina dried and denied what she saw. But for consolation, she got to keep the toy dolphin, though her mom had to pay for it.

Now, it's 2023, which means plenty of time had to pass for the young girl to grow into a mature-ish, grown woman who understandably never forgot what happened. So, I humbly headcanon and introduce:

Patricia "Patty" King, a 21-year-old, college-bound woman majoring in History and Folklore & Mythology as well as an assistant scuba diver.

How she turned into a mermaid:

7 years after the events of Mako Mermaids, the Mako Pod left for their decennial migration while Zac, Evie, and the others pursued the option of college or alternative interests. While they were gone, divers started coming around the island once more. Patty's boss agreed to do a night dive session for underwater photographers and she went with them during a full moon. However, Patty swam to the base of the volcano and noticed something embedded in the coral. Upon shining a light on it, it revealed to be a crystal of some sort that began glowing a memorizing, blue hue and teleported her into the moon pool. Patty received visions of ancient islanders traversing the land and worshipping the full moon before taking a group of boys and girls down a cave that began to bubble before falling unconscious. She woke up on the beach the next morning, unsure how she got there. Found by her boss, she was returned home and took a shower to wash off the sand and saltwater and you know what happens from there...

However, somewhere over the seas, Nerissa is alerted to an enchanted artifact she created in case any land people ended up in the moon pool (an inevitable fact she became well aware of after meeting Rikki and her friends). She, Rita, and Veridia, along with the council, agreed to send three mermaids to see what happened. Nerissa's daughter, Mimmi, was chosen but was surprised when two other mermaids volunteered: Naia and Ava, Ondina and Rita's former students and current graduates from Merpeople School.

This is how it goes from here. A college mermaid becomes aware that Mako Island has a lot more secrets that bridge between Humans and Merfolk while Mimmi must return to find out who was changed and reverse it. Not to mention, answer the unasked question of why humans and merfolk weren't allowed to interact, to begin with.

Decennial means "over ten years". If mermaid pods are traveling every decade or so, it could explain: How the metamorphosis of Gracie, Louise, and Julia went undetected in the 50s and as well as Cleo Sertori, Emma Gilbert, Rikki Chadwick, and Charlotte Watsford in the mid-to-late 2000s (essentially saying the pod returned in the 60s, left during the 70s and 80s, stayed during the 90s when Zac Blackley was born, and left before in the 2000s.)

People have asked if their dog/cat will be there to greet them when they cross over. Most of what I have read over the years claim that dogs have no soul,unlike dolphins and whales they are sentient souls. I do not believe that. I can only speak for myself. As people have opened themselves up to the spirit world,they have told of experiences with animals visiting them after death. I adopted a puppy in 2007,from my local SPCA. I had lost my S/O a few months before and found myself in one of the my darkest depressions. Gracie was not my first choice,I was set to adopt another dog when I spotted her sitting in her pen,watch all the commotion around her.

I immediately knew she was the one. At 4lbs she fit in my hand. So small,they told me to bring her back to be spayed. Gracie was beautiful,Grey with black spots. She and I became inseparable. She slept under the blankets with me. I couldn't stand to be separated from her. People would stop us to tell me what a beautiful girl she was. Together we navigated 13 years of highs and lows but always are bond grew. Suddenly Gracie got sick. I took her to the Vet. Diagnosis was cancer. That was on a Tuesday. On Saturday she became confused,I found her in a corner,she roamed around the room almost like she was looking for an escape. Sunday morning her back legs gave out. I had to carry my girl out to pee. I was devastated. And from the look on her face,she was too. Monday,I called the vet. I took my girl in for the last time.

I held her in my lap as the medication coarsed through her. Dogs do not close their eyes when they die. So,as I talked to her,telling her what a good girl she was,how much I loved her,I waved my palm over her eyes,closing them. I kept telling her over and over how good she was,how much I loved her until her heart stopped and she was gone. I had her cremated.

I don't think I have ever gotten over her loss. I cry now just telling this.

A few weeks later I had one of my lucid dreams.

I was on a dirt road up ahead was a huge oak tree. Out of nowhere I heard barking. A lot of barking. Up over the hill I saw a pack of dogs,but the only one I saw was Gracie. The other dogs faded and we were alone. I have missed you,I told her. Gracie's mouth never moved,it was all telepathic. You were so good to me,I love you and I will be here waiting for you when you cross over. That was all she said,then the other dogs returned and she disappeared into the pack as was gone. I woke up knowing she had come to me to ease my pain. And I know she is waiting for me. Whenever I am sad or my depression overwhelms me,she sends me a dime. That is her letting me know she is there.

h2o tattoo headcanons:

emma has only one tattoo, the roman numeral for the number three on her right hip, since the best things come in three, after all. rikki and cleo spent years convincing her to get matching tattoos with them before she finally acquiesced

cleo has three or four tattoos, mostly in places that are easy to hide. she tends to put a lot of thought into her pieces, including a little wave behind her ear and a full moon on her forearm. she also has her and lewis' anniversary inked on her side, but if anyone asks she tells them it's just a random assortment of numbers

rikki lost count of all her tattoos before her nineteenth birthday. she has tattoos for her friends, for zane, for her dad, for her cat, for herself, and certainly isn't the type of person who needs their tattoos to have a special meaning. her most recent one is a charmander on the inside of her right wrist

bella has more tattoos than cleo but less than rikki. like cleo, she tends to put a lot of thought into her pieces, but they are more abstract, like her half-sleeve of watercolour flowers that represent her favourite places she's lived. she has a little line drawing of a mermaids's tail on her thigh. of course she gets a tiny snake for charlotte on their first anniversary

charlotte has about as many tattoos as bella. many are reproductions of her own art and even that of her grandma gracie. of course she has a little butterfly for bella, her mum's favourite flower, something like those twin sock and buskin masks to represent her love of theatre, maybe even a little dolphin tattoo somewhere to represent the importance of overcoming your fears. she definitely likes her tattoos to have a special meaning but isn't always super forthcoming about precisely what that meaning is when asked

lewis has a handful of tattoos, about as many as cleo. they are mostly inconspicuous, easy to hide, and usually prompts him to infodump on whatever subfield of marine biology that currently catches his interest whenever someone asks about them. he had cleo pick out a nautilus shell tattoo for him one day, placed on the inside of his wrist

zane has just the one tattoo, his mother's anniversary hidden away on the inside of his forearm

somehow, nate has even more tattoos than rikki. dude is covered in ink and shows no signs of stopping. every single one has gotten infected.

miriam has never, and will never, get any tattoos because, and i quote, 'why mess with perfection?' tiffany also follows in her footsteps

kim got a crappy stick-and-poke on her seventeenth birthday by a boyfriend who would go on to break her heart. cleo commissions charlotte to design a cover up of a crown so kim never forgets what a queen she is 👑
