That eldritch Shalom was actually based off a Cthulhu Mythos monster I once saw detailed on tvtropes. The creature lurks in mazes and if it sees you, it will chase you and corner you, then offer you a choice, be smashed into bloody pulp (which is an arguably better fate) or let it implant its egg into your body, which will eventually hatch and well, break your body into countless amount of its brood. I just added the reality bending bc it’s more fun that way, haha!

Shalom is far from the worst about it, but she can and will nudge you to comply with her mind control and reality warping. The plus side is that she knows all your sweet spots and will make you feel mind-melting pleasure while she puts the eggs inside you, and when you don’t come back to her in time and she didn’t get to help you through the hatching, well, let’s just say you will not be walking anytime soon, not until all the few dozen eggs inside hatch into tiny creatures. Well, even if you see her before that and she helps you, she’s all too glad to fill you up again, so… :D. At least, you can take comfort in the fact that if she breeds you, you’re staying human unless she feels like warping you a little. I’m sure the facility won’t mind sacrificing one of their researcher to keep one of the monsters happy and content.

Dreya approaches breeding season as almost an afterthought to her all-consuming thirst for knowledge, but in exchange, she can drown you in sensations that envelops every inch of your body, mind, and soul, and you will (might as well) very literally see the stars with her. However, with each time you become one with her, you will be a little less human, her forbidden knowledge taking form as sharpened crystalline growths start to dot your limbs, each reflecting the image of vast cosmos that draw you in, engulfing your mind and humanity. But even under the threat of your humanity perishing in the skies of forbidden knowledge, you will still come back to her, right?

#eldritch!sinner path to nowhere AU

I already made this post, then deleted it, but I can't stop thinking about how repetitive that last episode felt. We've done the Mike's parents are overbearing plot before (also in a xmas special no less, which handled the plotline much better), we've done Kitty being jealous that someone else is getting more of Alison's attention (but unlike with Lucy, she's in the wrong, and it only happens twice. Like, I'm glad they didn't make that a b plot but it also felt weird that it wasn't a b plot), we've had the ghosts being loud and inconsiderate and upsetting Alison so many times before, hell, there was a whole episode about it earlier in the season, Fanny literally repeats her lines of thinking Alison's a prostitute, Thomas does his same old obsession roght to the bitter end, and even Robin struggling to enjoy Christmas felt similar to the xmas special where he didn't like xmas.

I don't like to conflate 'I don't like this' with 'this is bad', and I keep telling myself I must feel this way just because I don't like it, but I can't help but feel this episode was just pretty unoriginal and unsatisfying.

Most of what they did, they'd done before in far better ways and far better episodes, and none of these felt like fun throwbacks. Even the repetition of Fanny's lines doesn't feel funny, it just feels odd. I sincerely just can't really grapple with the decisions they made.

Like, idk, that cyclical nature could, in another show, be purposeful, to show how the ghosts can't move on, they can't grow past that moment of their deaths, but its not purposeful. Its just confusing and a let down. Sure, they give Alison the all clear to go and i guess thats a sort of growth (ignoring the character growth it also undoes in the very same episode), but that's what they wanted in the first place, the very first day Alison moved in. It came full circle, but that doesn't feel satisfying, it doesn't feel thematic. It makes me look at five seasons worth of build up and developed relationships and wonder, what the hell was this evening for? Am I ever going to be able to look back and enjoy the earlier seasons knowing it's all for naught?

Alison and Mike get to move on and have a better life, but the ghosts don't. Sure, she visits, but they've lost their home to the living once again, ones who don't see or hear them. They're just in another cycle of having no control, except for those occasions Alison visits, and they'll stop eventually when she dies. Then they'll really be back to square one. It just seems so unfair to them. Sure, they have each other, but that's all they have now.

This isn't even everything that's piqued at me, and it's probably half incoherent, but I needed to get it off my chest.

I truly think Stede is about to have his own breakdown. Now, idk if it’s going to happen at the end of this season or in the 3rd if we get one. But Stede has been ignoring his trauma for too long.

Stede is good with other people’s emotions because he knows how he wants people to treat his own. But he’s so busy pushing people to better places and helping others that he completely disregards what he’s gone through. He hasn’t ANYONE what happened in those woods the night he escaped the British. He hasn’t told anyone about what Badminton’s said to him, or being bullied, or the way his father treated him. I don’t even know (and I doubt) he’s even REALLY told Ed just how trapped he was in his marriage with Mary.

When Stede really, actually kills a man on purpose, instead of talking it out, he throws himself into Ed’s arms. And Ed obliges because I think this is the kind of comfort he knows how to give.

And now we can see, as Ed rises to better places, Stede is descending. Stede has discovered his own power. He’s discovered he doesn’t have to take shit from people and while I’m so glad for him, he’s also doing so without addressing that’s he’s breaking his own “not fighting violence with violence” and “talk it through as a crew” and “turn poison into positivity” It feels good now, but especially without working it out in a meaningful way, he’s losing himself to it. He thinks he needs to be this macho tough guy to feel powerful, cause he’s discovered what all the people he’s helped have, that power feels good in the moment. And then, he’ll, you’ve done one bad thing, why not another? It doesn’t feel as bad as you thought? So maybe it’s normal? But then the trauma comes, and you wonder if your a good person anymore, or if you ever were? But you ignore the feeling, because it feels good, and your not weak any more. Nobody can hurt your. So drown yourself in more power or liquor or drugs. Who cares if your a bad person? If people hurt you, you hurt them back. And people respect you for it. And by the time you look back and realize how bad things are, you might think it’s too late to change.

Violence and power is like a drug, you chase the high of power, and when you start to feel it, you remind yourself why you do it with more shows of violence and your tolerance for it just gets higher and higher until the only person left to hurt is yourself, and your Blackbeard, and your sailing your ship into a storm to kill yourself and your entire crew, because your an unlovable monster and you can’t see the light beyond the violence anymore.

Ed and Izzy don’t quite see what’s happening as a bad thing because to them, this is normal pirate stuff. And Stede is Stede. Kind, loving, soft, fabric loving Stede, who is so in tune with people’s emotions he literally therapy’d Ted Lowe’s crew into turning on him in the middle of being tortured. Stede couldn’t possibly become like them. He’s just more piratey now. And see? Look how much fun he’s having? He’s fine!

And Ed? He sees Stede happy and powerful and is so happy for him that he doesn’t even consider asking Stede to come with him this time when he decides to quit and become a fisherman. Ed thinks they are on different paths. And he doesn’t even conceive that this path is a danger to Stede, because it’s Stede. Stede could never get as bad as he did. Right? So best to just end things and let him be happy before either of them get to attached (though, it’s a little fucking late for that one bud).

Mark my words, unless somebody steps in and realizes what’s happening, Stede is going to end up just like all the other pirates we’ve seen. And there is only one way that kind of violence can end, with him getting himself killed, either someone else’s hands, or his own.

➳ asmo can barely see you under all of the winter gear you’ve put yourself in, and he knows there are several more layers of sweaters and long-sleeved shirts beneath your coat. “that ensemble is so not cute,” he sighs, looking you up and down. “couldn’t you have at least gotten a matching set?” “no way,” you laugh. “i needed the thickest stuff they had which meant buying independent pieces. i’m sorry, but you’re just going to have to live with it if you don’t want me to freeze!” asmo tilts his head to the side, considering. “ugh, fine. i guess it’s not too bad,” he finally admits, “but that's only because it’s on you.”

➳ beel watches you blow on your hands, rubbing them together to stimulate blood flow. “are you alright?” he asks, and you sigh. “i forgot my gloves at the house. feel how cold my hands are!” you thrust your hand out at him, and beel grabs it, jolting at the sensation. you’re much colder to the touch than you normally are. “that won’t do,” he says, “come over here and put your hand in my pocket.” you do as he says and he covers your hand with his, already planning on switching sides in a few minutes to do your other hand.

➳ belphie groans at the feeling of cold wind on your cheeks, but your eyes are bright. “this is so fun!” you exclaim, trying to adjust the earmuffs covering your ears. your mittens get in the way and after watching you struggle for a few moments belphie wordlessly steps forward and moves them back into place, reviving a bright smile in return. “the cold sucks,” he says, and you laugh. “don’t be like that. we can go in and wrap ourselves in blankets soon.”

i have so many feelings and thoughts about this latest episode of x men 97 -- spoilers under the cut

first, my favorite highlights/takeaways:

As usual, the dialogue is S-tier and this show is really good about putting the characters through dilemmas that have real stakes, and having the characters navigate those dilemmas in ways that both make sense for them and require them to move forward

Xavier is a confirmed bottom 😂 my man was ready to be a PET for this glamorous space lady

Loved that moment where Xavier literally takes the Shi’ar to class and starts SCHOOLING them 😂 he said “hold up I’m a teacher. lemme teach y’all something right now” 👨‍🏫

When talking about what he wanted to remember from Earth, he only mentioned Magneto, his “old friend” (YOU MEAN YOUR EX. YOUR SOULMATE. THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. C’MON CHARLES)

Speaking of Xavier x Magneto, when he finds out what happened to Magnus…😭 it was already heartbreaking seeing his reaction to Gambit's death

I’m certain the Shi’ar stuff is going to be the main conflict in Season Two or Three; Season One is gonna be focused on X-Men vs Sinister. Having this warmongering galactic empire on the brink of a coup that believes Earth is a “ghetto”, it’s not gonna turn out well for Earth.

I’m glad this episode confirmed that Sinister is behind the Genosha attack (though idk he might be working for someone else); writers sometimes keep their cards too close to their chest because they’re afraid that if they reveal their hand too soon, the audience will lose interest. But in my experience, it’s often more fun when the writers show you their hand and then use their cards to build a magnificent tower. Knowing who all the players are, their goals and motivations, and watching them duke it out is the stuff that drama is made of. It’s kind of like the Hitchcock principle of showing your audience the bomb under the table in order to raise suspense.

I’m REALLY happy that Storm is back, I missed her so much these past couple episodes! Aaah I’m a sucker for characters with weather powers, and hearing about the stuff Storm can do in the comics, I’m looking forward to seeing her use her abilities in a range of creative ways

Now for some analysis/ramblings!!

Storm and Xavier’s struggles mirror each other. Both characters are having to choose between comfort/happiness and duty/hardship.

Storm believes she’d be happier as a normal human. She could leave all her past troubles behind, build a new life with Forge. But that would be a betrayal of herself, her values, and her community. The Adversary’s line about Storm being afraid of living more than dying cuts deep. Storm was never afraid to put her life on the line to protect others. She literally took a bullet for Magneto. Her biggest fear is living her full truth, perhaps because her power is so great that it might alienate her from other people, even from her fellow mutants. As Magneto said (and I paraphrase), she is the closest thing to a goddess their world has ever seen.

And IIRC, part of Storm’s backstory involved her being worshiped/revered as a goddess or holy priestess. I think this past experience made Storm wary of embracing her full power because that kind of existence is lonely.

Honestly, as a black woman, Storm’s journey resonates so much. In real life, black women are often expected to be superhuman, the “strong black woman” who can shoulder her own burdens and everyone else’s. Storm suppressing her own powers for fear of being put on a pedestal as this flawless “queen” or “goddess” who can reliably solve everyone else’s problems? Yeah. That’s some real stuff. Storm, like everyone else, deserves to be vulnerable. To be protected and cared for instead of having to always protect and care for others.

But the expectation to be "strong" is something that Storm seems to have internalized; she didn't have to leave the X-Men when she lost her powers, but she left in part because she felt like she had to deal with her grief alone. And I hope that, even though she’s coming back to the X-Men with her powers fully realized, she’s able to rely on her friends for comfort. I also love that this series emphasizes her friendship with Jean, and I hope to see more of their dynamic going forward.

As for Xavier, he’s having to choose between life on his home planet, where he’s surrounded by family but having to deal with their “drama” plus the persecution of his community, and life among the stars, away from the troubles of Earth but still not accepted as a full person. Either way, he has to play the role of the teacher, the wise mentor who must guide others to the path of enlightened coexistence. It’s a tough burden to bear.

I’m not disabled, but it seems to me that the way Xavier is burdened with the responsibility of having to be a “role model” for others mirrors the way that society treats disabled people in real life. Again, I’m definitely out of my depth here and would love to hear disabled people’s thoughts on the matter, but it’s my understanding that society tends to dehumanize disabled people as either pitiable/contemptible burdens or admirable/brave warriors who can “rise above” their condition. Some of that seems to be baked into certain aspects of how Xavier was conceived as a character and the way he’s often framed by the narrative, but it looks like X Men 97 is aware of this and attempting to interrogate it a little.

Anyway, this episode was really great, a nice breather after the devastation of last week’s episode while still thematically rich and moving the story forward.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you're enjoying it. Always super fun to see new readers, hahaha.

Ooooh, High Valyrian! I can see the dilemma. When I started out, I used one of those auto-translators, which are fine but don't necessarily produce accurate translations. Your best bet, unfortunately, is learning how the language system works through the official High Valyrian dictionary (which I'll link here), which the creator of the language regularly updates alongside mods as needed.

Keep in mind that High Valyrian is a language where nouns decline; that is, they need an adjustment based on the way you are using it in the sentence. There are a lot of terms involved in this and no easy way to learn it all in an instant. It's a process that took me months to do with any sort of half-valid function, and I initially relied on the assistance of someone who had learned the language properly to translate for me or check my attempts and help edit/explain before I posted.

I'd personally recommend the following:

Read the page on High Valyrian grammar. It gives you an overview of how sentences are structured (which isn't like English sentences), and what the types of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives and adpositions are. You might need to look up some of the terms used here, as it does rely on you having a foundational knowledge of linguistics to understand! I can promise you that this is possible; I knew fuck-all about this stuff before I started studying up.

Take a little look through the English High Valyrian Dictionary. It sorts your words alphabetically according to their English translation, whereas the standard dictionary organizes alphabetically by HV word (this can be really confusing unless you're good with the Ctrl + F function). Keep in mind that this page isn't as regularly updated and it is important to click on the desired word to thoroughly review the context behind the translation. Some words have the same literal translation but different contextual meaning (i.e. there are like three words for time, one being what is used to ask "what's the time?", one for a generic passage of time, one for seasonal change etc.) and you want to make sure you're using the right one!

Go to the High Valyrian Dictionary proper, which will give you an itemized list of all words created for this conlang thus far, usually with a translation, brief definition/context, and an example used in-sentence. Clicking on the word will give you the information you need in order to conjugate (adjust the words according to their usage).

General Old-Timey Grumbles

I truly wish from the bottom of my heart that there was an alternative version of FR purely focused on breeding, decorating, and geneing dragons. I've been here for a Very Long Time and I still hate the Coli, I still hate grinding for mats, and I still consider the dollar-to-gem ratio an affront to god. (WHY ARE GENES SO OBSCENELY EXPENSIVE. IT'S 2023 AND I HAVE TO BUDGET FOR A BAKERY CUPCAKE, A DRAGON GENE IS NOT WORTH MORE THAN AN ITEM I PHYSICALLY GET TO EAT.) I wish there was a way to get everything solely from playing the rewarding part of the game: the part with the dragons. I have some profitable breeding pairs so I make an ok living, but compared to anyone who can even halfway doodle something or who have bottomless pockets to dump money into the game? I don't feel a sense of accomplishment by achieving my goals because by the time I finally get there, I'm just glad it's over... until I want to do something else. It transcends reasonable challenge to become demoralizing. I literally just want to gene up gen1s, breed dragons, sell dragons, and dress them up. That's the appeal for me. I like familiars, but bonding with them takes forever. I like dressing up dragons, but grinding to get stuff every seasonal event is such a pain in the arse. I think Baldwin and Swipp and so on are nice ideas as site features, but the sheer volume of item sink required to participate in them makes it not even worth it to try. And while I have all the retired items I could want (wanna know why Light Sprites are so rare? We didn't know they'd be permanently retiring at the end of the first Festival so no one bothered to hoard them! I'm fucking old!,) I feel for everyone that is never, ever going to be able to access any of it because of how unattainable things have become. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but especially for wearables, having them Gone Forever? It just sucks. It just sucks, you guys. It's not fun. Flight Rising is a game full of beautiful art that makes you jump through hoops like a collie at an agility trial doing meaningless busywork to get to the part where you get to play with your cool dragons. And I know most people enjoy a lot of those features, but I'm old. I'm tired. I mean I'm literally getting old and my fucking joints resent sitting at the PC and/or swiping shit on the phone at length. I have a life. I feel the response might be to move on, but 1) what other petsites even exist in 2023? I'm still on Neopets too, and Subeta is cool, but otherwise?? and 2) no. I like my stupid sparkledragons, I don't want to leave them behind! But this is the drama blog and I have complaints, so here I am. LOVED this one. where do i even begin

well i will begin at the obvious: women! kira and dax in the shuttle. mwah

what i loved most about kira and dax in the shuttle wasn't even the homoeroticism, though i did - of course - deeply enjoy the homoeroticism. what i loved MOST was that they seemed to have invented a personality for dax at last! i have no idea what was going on in this episode or who this dax was or where she was during s1 but i REALLY liked her. it's shocking bc i almost gave her LAST PLACE in the character rankings, but she was so fun here?? and also kind of like...airheaded and weird. "i might keep the nose." seems like they really DIDN'T know what to do with her in s1, but better late than never. i will continue to try and forgive her really terrible hair even though it makes her head look soooo weird and offputting

actually all of the action sequences in this episode were great. all three of season 2's episodes have been really funny even as they're also very serious at the same time, i fucking love it

love also the little nod to o'brien's service record on the cardassian front in the way of wartime rations. not only is it funny but it is, again, a great reminder of his cardassian trauma, and why he might feel obligated to stay behind

SPEAKING OF. everyone in ops, down to the last person, agreeing to stay at ds9, even though some of them have families like o'brien does. i'm SO glad they didn't forget his family, that they actually showed him and keiko arguing about it, but he STILL felt morally that he had to stay - that it was more important than his own life, and the risk of his family having to continue on without him.

PLUS the fact that not a single person wanted to leave, even after sisko assured them that they SHOULD think of their families...girl he is literally the best captain or commander or whatever. that's stone cold loyalty. they all trust him or love him or both.

i was a little ambivalent on li nalas as a concept but he actually was used finally...i think "off the hook" was a great way to take care of that arc neatly, because making him live the lie would have felt cruel, but him just ghosting would have made him look like an asshole, no matter how justified. i hope there's a bajoran afterlife he can chill out in

did we get set up for season-long villains with winn and jaro? that would be fun. the concept of "storylines" feels so foreign in a star trek show but there it is........

Deadline: May 1st, 2024 Payment: Royalties Theme: Stories related to Robin Hood or Sherwood Forest with at least one grumpy character that are amusing and speculative fiction Hear ye!  Hear ye!!  It’s time for another Grumpy Anthology and this time we’re heading to those forests of yore to revamp tales of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. That’s right, we’re off to the land of leather jerkins and longbows for another chance for a Grumpy twist on a classic mythos.   Why Robin Hood you ask? We’re so glad you asked. Authors are readers, and for many of us, this group of stories are a cherished childhood memory.  Robin Hood wandered in and out of English Literature leaving a trail of tales (looking at you Ivanhoe), despite being the original rebel bad boy. He literally robs from people who are in power. How did these tales even survive?  These stories survived because the common people loved them.  As early as the 1300’s May Day celebrations featured Robin Hood stage plays.  They were entertainment for the masses, and the masses loved seeing the tricksy Robin pulling the wool over the eyes of influential figures.  Some of the first cheap short stories were Robin Hood broadsheets. He’s had more incarnations than Dr. Who.  A lot more. Like all good mythologies, Robin Hood has grown and changed with his audience. We took a deep dive when we began discussing this idea, and to our delight and joy – there’s no set cannon.  There is no written version of this story that can be pointed to as the definitive beginning of Robin Hood.  Like our Grumpy Gods, his traditions were mostly oral and he was only later canonized. What does that mean for us as Grumpy authors? It means it’s open season on storytelling.  It means you can take whatever bits you like best of thousands of available tales, and twist and turn them however you like. Would you like your Robin Hood to live in a spaceship called the Sherwood and have him rob from the rich and give to the poor?  Go for it.  We live for that stuff. Is your Robin a fallen noble in Italy during the Borgia reign?  Fascinating.  Sign us up. Do you want to focus on the badassery of the original Maid Marrion who actually canonically bested Robin at swordplay in some of the stories?  Well, that’s actual canon but if your characters are fun, we’re here for it. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We want to see AT LEAST one Grumpy character who is essential to the plot.  Antagonist, protagonist, the guy with the cabbages that keeps getting in the way of epic cart chases… Our brand is Grumpy so keep that in mind while you write. We publish humorous anthologies.  If we can’t read your tale while drinking for fear of liquid coming out of our noses, then you have done it right. Twist Endings:  A well-written tale is a must and a twist at the end makes our little editing hearts skip a beat. Some or all of the core characters from the tales.  We don’t have to have Robin or the Sherrif if you are writing Little John in a WWE match, but give the readers enough context so that they know why the story is in this anthology. We’re also looking for a modern author’s take on those forest tales of yore.  The original tales were, as tales tended to be at the time,  plot driven with raucous humor, rollicking action, and a thumb’d nose at overreaching authority. We’d love to see character driven tales in the same vein, preserving the outright fun of the stories as Robin (or his crew) wander around Merry Old England, the local mall, or a space station. Do as ye will with setting and time as long as you preserve the central themes. Do you want the Fat Friar to take on a Demon King with cleric magic?  Sounds fun. What type of Bard is Will Scarlett anyway? And why does the Sherrif of Nottingham always look like Alan Rickman?  (Or is that just us?) GENRE:  SPECULATIVE FICTION. What is Speculative Fiction? Well, Wikipedia says… “It encompasses the genres of science fiction, fantasy, science fantasy, horror, alternative history, and magic realism.”

That’s a big playground, and we’re encouraging our writers to play. WORDS: 3000-4000 RATING: PG-13 TO PG-17 Any sex, violence, or foul language MUST be tastefully handled and necessary to the plot enhancing the story rather than distract. Excessive use will probably not fit with anthologies’ overall tone. (But if you check out Grumpy Old Love Gods, you’ll notice that we led with a story about a dead porn star.  Well, everything in that story was tied to the theme like it was Odysseus about to face the Sirens – and it was FUNNY.) I like Nak (and her relationship wih Krueger) a lot <3 and your drawings always make me smile, you have a great sense of humour, the way you colour is very warm and inviting, and how you portray those two sillies always crack me up

Had some questions!

1- Is Nak superstitious?

2 - Does Nak every cook for Krueger? Do they cook together? Do they cook each other food from their respective cultures? Do they enjoy it? (is Krueger useful or useless in the kitchen? :P)

3- Does Nak have a favourite insult/swear word?

It makes me really excited to get asks about Nak or KruegerNak, keep them coming >:33!!

1.) Is Nak superstitious?

Yes! She doesn't believe in like western superstitions (knocking on wood, etc.) Because she isn't raised on it. Nak is, however, more superstitious in terms of her culture; she doesn't like people's feet being near pillows, covers Krueger's mouth when he's whistling at night. She's not scared of many things but she's TERRIFIED of ghosts and spirits so she feels that doing these things will attract them to her. (Literally clinging onto Krueger while watching Thai scary movies)

2a.) Does Nak ever cook for Krueger? (I'll split these into multiple sections so it's an easier read :3)

Nak is usually the one who cooks for the both of them! She enjoys cooking and domestic work as a stress reliever, plus she likes taking care of him by making him food, it makes her feel cute to be taking care of someone :D

2b.) Do they cook together?

Nak cooks in a way that doesnt need much help; clean and quick. She prefers that Krueger isn't in the kitchen (maybe watching her over the counter) while she cooks because she doesnt want to get distracted with feeding him little bits and pieces of the meal as it's getting made; doesnt want him to get full quickly. Krueger helps with taste testing occasionally (he sneaks bites) so they're both involved with the cooking process in a way

2c.) Do they cook each other food from their respective cultures? Do they enjoy it? (Is Krueger Useless in the kitchen?)

Nak has tried Krueger's cooking before and honestly? She doesn't know how he's not dead from sodium overdose. He's not...bad at preparing and chopping, however he tends to over season or under season things. He makes a killer Apple strudel, though; Nak likes it, not too sweet.

-Calling over the kitchen counter, "You good over there or do I need to bring out the fire extinguisher?"

-"All good."

-"Make sure too not put the heat too high."

- "Relax, I got this. I'm finishing up anywa-" The smoke detector started blaring, followed by a series of curses as Krueger ran over to shut it off.

As for Krueger.. This man eats so much Lao food living with Nak he might as well be Lao himself. Nak tries to cook seperate meals for Krueger of stuff he's used to but ultimately stops when he kept stealing food off her plate even if it's too spicy for him.

3.)Does Nak have a favorite insult/ swear word?

Nak goes through phases of favourite swear words, but she likes Russian or Arabic swear words alot since alot of people in Allegiance speak Russian or Arabic xD

I mean, seeing what the ISU Awards has become... do we really want Shoma (and Stephane) to be involved in that mess? It's so... self-celebratory, lol. The phrase "I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine" comes to mind. Saw a FS fan who was at Zurich tweeted that the crowd don't even know or care much about the skaters when they were given awards... honestly even Stephane, a Switzerland citizen (!!!) chose to go to Tokyo this week to do dance classes and watch the Paris Opera Ballet. Anyway if people really want to watch a really good ice show, Daisuke's ice show KASSOUYA in Fukuoka was also running this weekend and they allow fancams... from what I can see on X/Twitter it's much better than AOI, sorry not sorry.

KASSOUYA seems indeed a wonderful ice show. The snippets look very cool. I wonder what brought them to allow fancams and if they keep it that way or only because they wanted to promote the show in sns 🤔 In Japan ice shows are growing. I am glad for every opportunity for the skaters.

In a way Shoma is involved in the award anyway. He was in the nominations, even if he didn't win. Not that this award has any sort of negative or positive impact on anyone really. I think Shoma would just deserve more recognition by the ISU. That's all, not that the award itself is worth anything. I guess nobody will be remembered for earning a skating award. Yet Shoma and Kaori not winning against Ilia when Ilia is here for two seasons and did get one title only feels odd. If it's solely on social media engagement well than Adam's backflip gained huge attention at Euros, Kaori's SP last season was literally retweeted by Janet Jackson herself, Livia Kaiser's FS was retweeted by Rachel Zegler and beside that it shows that ISU is not aware of what Shoma did for the sport. OPOI brought another crowd to figure skating. (SOI in the US just got canceled for the season for a lack of interest as it appears btw) But ofc this whole award show is playing into the hand of those ppl who always had a say in skating North America and Europe. Ilia's management is practically involved in the show, so winning an award two times in a row - one which was just invented for him last season - a devlish thought may come to mind 🙃

I think the crowd for an ice show is different than for a competition. At Nebelhorn Trophy usually the arena is more packed for the gala than for the actual competition. Those ppl there don't come bc of the names of the skaters, they come for a fun evening like going to the circus. I also went couple of times to Holiday on Ice, I was also at Disney on Ice (ice shows that come to my hometown are an easy choice to go to). At Holiday on Ice last year Papadakis/Cizeron were invited and I totally chose a date where they would perform in the show bc of them, however in the crowd most ppl didn't know who they were and didn't care. They liked their performance but you could see just a few excited fans. You can see by the reactions to the jumps (which are usually just doubles) that the cast performs there that ppl don't come bc of the sport but bc of the show. They would clap as enthusiatically for a double than for a triple. So I am not surprised the ppl didn't care much for the winners at Art on Ice, most ppl there probably didn't even know them but came for an ice show.

Stephane performed often on Art on Ice so I don't think it had anything to do with that, probably didn't rather fit his schedule. Makes you wonder though if he would have won if he would have performed there. Because very comically all winners were also present at Art on Ice...🙃

Maybe Shoma didn't win because he would not attend Art on Ice at this point of the season 🤔😂 just kidding...

I am not against those ppl that won at all, even happy for Deanna Stellato Dudek, she deserves the world as a role model. Just being the only Pairs skater to even get anything is showing how much ISU cares for all disciplines. Also the nominations of most categories just show that ice dance and Pairs have no value.

hello nero my beloved soulmate!!!

i have pride stories!!! i went to pride this saturday and it was so much fun i need to tell you all about it!!!

well first of all i really hate that i had to work in the morning because it made me so tired and it was the first weekend of sales so yea, not fun. but anyway, my friend picked me up at 3pm and we got to florence. we had to park pretty far from the meeting point and then take a bus, and it was amazing because we were totally lost looking for that bus and at some point we see a bus full of people with rainbow flags, glitter, signs, flower crowns, rainbow stickers and temporary tattoos and all of that. and we just went in, no questions asked. we just figured we’d follow them out of the bus too 😂 i love our people honestly. we were so colorful

anyway we got to the meeting point and it was deadly hot. i swear there were like 45 degrees. but it was so amazing to be around all of those people dressed in all colors and wearing all sorts of things we’d usually be judged for, it felt so safe. except that there was a religious protestor so we got to give him the finger like the heartstopper cast did :)

also my sister came with me. she’s always so supportive and it meant the world that she came with me. anyway the parade started and there were some amazing floats. there were rainbow families, drag queens, all the lgbtqia+ associations from our territory and we started walking behind this float that had amazing music, so we started dancing and singing and it was so much fun!!! we got to talking with some people, there were some amazing signs that were just perfect and i had to go there and tell them how much i loved them :) it was just so fun, i loved meeting random people and it was just the perfect environment. at night there was also a dj set and a band singing to keep the show going!!

then when we were walking back to the bus stop at night we got the whiplash of not being surrounded by queer people anymore. we got catcalled like fifteen times in the span of three minutes. i kinda wanted to punch everyone because we had such a perfect day and i hated that we had to go back to the real world where people are shit 🥲

but still i got so many amazing memories and now all i want to do is book a flight to london for next year and have you come with me so we can celebrate together and see the heartstopper cast!!!!

also, i got a new tattoo yesterday!! and i actually had red white and royal blue with me to distract me so i almost finished the book again and cried in from of my tattoo artist lol it took me the whole day again and it was so painful but so worth it!!! i got medusa on my leg 😻

also, as to our previous letter i just wanted to say that of course i believed in you!!!! i knew you could do it!! but i can definitely believe you had to close your eyes to open that message 😂 getting grades back is always so stressful!! now manifesting a spot for the exchange 🕯️🕯️🕯️ i really hope you get it!!! it’s an amazing experience, you’d definitely love it!!!

and i’m really glad you found someone who specialises in what you need. it can take a while to find the right therapist but i hope this one works out!!

(i’m also writing down sydney and melbourne for when i’m rich enough to visit 😂 i literally booked a flight for august and my bank account kinda yelled at me to stop spending money i don’t have lol)

anyways i’m really sorry i’ve been away for so long, i had a crazy week between the beginning of seasonal sales, pride and the tattoo appointment. i kinda didn’t have time to do anything 🥲

I came across posts you wrote a long time ago about Piper Halliwell and had to reach out to thank you. It seems like literally everyone LOVES Piper Halliwell, praising her as not just their favorite Charmed one but one of the best TV characters ever, and finding someone else who dislikes her was honestly the most validating experience I've had on this site! I recently rewatched a bunch of episodes and couldn't get over just how awful Piper is past the very first season. Fans are like 'all hail our sass queen!' like it's somehow a good thing that she goes out of her way to be ridiculously mean and bitter. She never, ever, ever stops complaining about everyone and everything, and it's not just that she's always in a terrible mood---it's that she directly takes that mood out on Leo and her sisters constantly, insulting and criticizing them nonstop. (Can you believe some people here think Piper was "too good" for Leo?! The man is a saint for patiently putting up with that shrew!) And she's always praised for her heart, but while the other three actually care about innocents, Piper is always the one whining about just wanting a "normal life" and throwing literal tantrums over things like wanting a better wedding or which of two great guys she should choose while there are literal LIVES at stake lol. Speaking of which, on a show about women destined to be witches, who thought it was a good idea to have one of the three main characters whine about how much she hates being a witch in Every. Single. Episode?! She's just such a completely unpleasant character with literally the worst attitude I've ever seen, and I can honestly say she ruins the show for me. (Disliking the turn they took with Phoebe's character didn't help either!) She was unapologetically terrible even before Prue's death, and it blows my mind that fans hate Prue for being too "harsh" when Piper is like a million times worse! Wow, I cannot believe it's been 5 years since I watched Charmed when I made those posts. And I never did finish watching the rest of the series 😭 So, naturally it's on my to rewatch and actually finish it this time around watch list. Lol

And I'm glad I could make you feel validated. When you, unfortunately, hate or dislike a character for whatever reason, especially one a majority of fans like, it's always nice to find like minded people. It's why I'm not quiet in my opinions. I want people to have a fun and safe space in fandoms even if that's just to discuss dislike for a fan favorite! Which is why if I am anti a specific character I try to tag properly so fans who do like the character can avoid my personal thoughts. And ofc, this means also never directing said dislike towards the fans who like specific characters. I just let people enjoy what they enjoy even if I do not.

Anyways, I'm surprised people view Piper as sassy. From what I remember, I never saw her as sassy, just annoying her complaints and plotline. And yeah! Prue maybe was 'harsh,' but she's the eldest and had that responsibility of caring for her younger sisters. She had a lot of weight on her shoulders. It's why she was serious a lot of the times and seemed to be hit the hardest by their mother's death from what I recall.

I wish I could comment more, but since it's been years don't remember a lot of details.

It's very simple!

Step 2: Write feedback to the creator of your favorite. No matter how long, how short, no matter what language, no matter if anonymous or under your official account, write what you liked and why. Jump over your shadow and let them know that this work of theirs has given you a good time.

Step 3: Spread "Secret Helpers" anonymously to others. No matter who you come across on tumblr or elsewhere on the internet, whether mutual or random, send them the instructions and let them keep spreading good news.

A lot of things are not going well lately. So we try to let those who give us a little break in the chaos know that we're glad to have them.

I have only seen one fan work that I liked. - No problem, write to the person anyway.

Isn't that weird? - Nope. (We are on the internet. Everything is kinda weird and ey, you don’t have to use your official account to send the feedback)

There. Are. TOO MANY! - 5 is a minimum number. If you have the time, write to as many as you want, everyone will be happy to get some compliments on their work!

The creators I like are all totally unknown - Especially for fanartists who don't get much feedback yet, each of those is worth its weight in gold. The fanfiction is amazing, but only has 2 comments? Become number 3! The fanart has 36 likes, but looks like a fucking work of art? Write that to the creator! Motivation is all babeyyy, regardless of whether it's the fandom favorite or someone completely new.

THIS IS SUCH A LOVELY PROJECT!!!!!!!!! it's so important to spread positivity, especially to content creators who often have to deal with a lack of feedback and their works getting stolen, so im glad you gave me the chance to do this by sharing it with me, anon, thank you!!!!!!

i think that to follow the rules of the project i should probably write to the creators in private or by sending them an ask (?), but to try to give them more visibility and help them reach new people who maybe aren't familiar with their works yet, i thought i could talk a little about some of my favorites here (not that i have that many followers but you know. also for the two creators who aren't on tumblr i WILL make sure to leave them a nice comment too), so here we go!!!!!

in no particular order:

the entire vice versa web weaving series by @daymork. i tell you i wish i could have all these edits collected in one of those fancy ass art books with a hard cover that cost almost a hundred bucks just so that i could flip through it at any given moment to contemplate the beauty of said edits and cry myself to sleep holding it to my chest as i think about puentalay. i have no idea how jessi did it but every single quote she used for these is so perfect that no matter how many times i reread them they never fail to reduce me to a sobbing mess of a woman who is in dire need of receiving mental health care provided by professionals in an institutionalized setting. my point is. i love them. i love them a lot.

the quote by ocean vuong last twilight edit by @morkofday. i could literally put any of vish’s vice versa edits here because it’s like they’re all specially crafted to deal as much emotional damage as humanly possible to me personally, but in the end i decided to pick this one because, to this day, it’s still my favorite last twilight edit ever made. there's just something about it that stayed with me since i first saw it a whole year ago (im not even kidding when i say i think about it an average of twelve times per day) and even if it was done based on the mock trailer alone, vish was somehow able to perfectly capture the spirit of the show, not just by using that particular quote (which is incredibly spot on like when day and mork were talking about tenderness in episode 4 i thought of this edit right away and had to go punch through a wall to cope) but also because of the colors and the pictures that she chose.

the the man who can't be moved puentalay gifset by @seatawinans. you think episode 11 of vice versa has already reached the pinnacle of life altering emotional devastation and cathartic experience, and then you see this gifset and suddenly you find yourself decaying into subatomic particles to cope, committing grand scale larceny and arson to deal, and doing daily affirmations like 'this is affecting me a normal amount! :)' in front of the mirror every morning to survive. truly i have no words to properly express just how much the 'thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet/and you'll see me waiting for you on the corner of the street' lines over the glasshouse scenes make me sick in the head, it's the parallelism romanticism soulmatism of it all and somehow cassi managed to make it worse (read: better).

the underneath the stars by the cure morkday fanart by twitter user @bleu1te. i honestly love all of bleuité's puentalay and morkday works so much, there's just something so soft and tender in the way this artist draws them that every time i look at their art it gives me the same feeling of safety and comfort that i so deeply associate with these two pairings. i picked this one in particular because i fell in love with it as soon as i saw it, i love the colors, i love the starry sky behind them, i love their expressions, and most of all i love the hand placement. idk how to explain it, but i think the way they're touching just really conveys how much they adore each other.

the enchanted by taylor swift morkday video by twitter user @jimmyseagatitos. you know when someone punches you in the stomach and it hurts so much that you just start laughing hysterically? this is the closest description i can give to try to explain what this video did to me on a psychological emotional spiritual mental and physical level. and because apparently im a masochist i've been rewatching it only like 92649626 times in the span of three days. i also think it's pretty damn genius to end the edit on the 'i'll spend forever wondering if you knew' line of the song because it leaves everything unspoken just what mork never got to say.

this is obviously very far from being a comprehensive list (especially since my memory is pretty bad and my main interests are currently very limited ;;;;), so for the next couple of weeks i will try to reach out to my favorite creators (in private this time, i promise) and give them some love!!!!! and if anyone sees this, please consider doing it too!!!!!

I wanted to ask just a random question, what do you think of reiner, annie and bertholdt? Do you like there characters just not there actions or will you never like them because of what they did to marco ect.

Short answer is that yes, I like their characters and I’d actually say Reiner is one of my top faves overall! I was upset at what happened, and very confused for a while, but after seeing the whole story I understand why it happened. (I don’t ✨condone murder✨)

It’s still sad, it’s still something I know they carry guilt for, and I didn’t root for their demise or anything like that, but it happened because they were all kids unfairly forced into a war.

First time I watched AoT I was mostly confused on how I felt about them, up until the episode in season 3 where we saw exactly what happened to Marco.

When we saw the scene with Reiner and Bertholdt running away, with Bertholdt screaming that they didn’t want to be doing these things, I knew something was up. Combined with the shot of Annie crying within her titan, I kind of suspected they were either doing what they were doing because 1) they were forced to, or 2) there was an unknown threat that they were having to thwart by breaking the walls.

What happened with Marco was upsetting, I won’t lie, and I initially struggled to maintain that logical empathy for Annie and Bertholdt at first. (Reiner was a tricky situation because he clearly had mental health conditions that were blurring lines for him, and it was unknown at this point exactly how coherent he was while making each decision).

I still felt for all of them, because at no stage did I see genuine enjoyment in their actions. There are certainly characters in AoT who got enjoyment from killing and betrayal, but I didn’t see any of it in Reiner, Bertholdt, or Annie. The show did an amazing job of capturing moments of regret, indecision, and distaste for their own actions.

We see a lot of determination from those three, yes, but it’s clearly driven by guilt and the unmistakable fear that you only get from kids who’ve been pushed into a war they shouldn’t be part of.

I wasn’t glad when Bertholdt died. I think it paralleled Marco’s death for a very specific devastating reason.

I was initially on board with Sasha and Connie’s reaction when I thought Reiner had been killed. I was upset.

He was a great character, but everyone was still in the mindset that ‘it had to happen’ because he was hurting people. (I was glad when he survived, even if he was on ‘the other side’ now, because I wanted answers, I was so confused).

Annie was a moot point because she quite literally fell off the map after her crystallisation in season 2. I wanted her to return, I wanted to see her side of the story too.

With this all being said, I don’t think killing Marco was the only option. I think he had already been established as a forgiving, understanding individual (whose last words were quite literally a plea to have the opportunity to just talk things through.)

If Reiner had been in another mindset - his s4 part 2 mindset - I think that he would have handled it differently. I think Bertholdt and Annie would have gone along with alternate options if Reiner had been the one to suggest it.

I also think that if there hadn’t been time pressure and a conveniently approaching titan, the three of them wouldn’t have been able to summon the courage to kill Marco themselves. Setting him up to die, leaving him vulnerable by taking his gear is one thing, but killing him themselves would be another.

So no! I don’t dislike them at all. I love Reiner’s character, I wish Bertholdt hadn’t needed to die to save Armin. I feel bad that Annie disappeared for so long and faced so much guilt over Marco on her own in the military police, isolated.

I wish they’d made different decisions, but I know that the nature of Trost and the approaching titan left them with the impression that killing Marco was their only option.

I know there are some people who blanket statement hate Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie, but I’m not one of them.
