Hi hi. How your taking care of yourself. I just want to ask on the grid kids series is it possible that we can see an interaction between baby Vettel and Carlos. Where Seb and his wife went to today's race (Singapore GP) to support their grid kids and after Carlos wins, baby Vettel calls Carlos smooth operator. You don't have to write it if u don't want to but I love your content ❤️
Grid Kids: Mooth Opawata
Sebastian Vettel x wife!Reader x platonic!drivers
Summary: the Mooth Opawata gains a new fan after his win and the grid kids are reminded that their sister will always be their biggest supporter
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
Carlos, drenched in champagne and glowing with the thrill of victory, scoops your daughter up into his arms as he steps down from the podium. The little girl giggles, her tiny hands reaching for the sparkling trophy he’s holding.
“Look at you! Celebrating with the winner,” Carlos chuckles, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead.
Sebastian laughs, “Well, looks like you’ve got yourself a new little fan.”
“I think she just likes the shiny trophy,” you tease.
Carlos pretends to think it over, “Hmm, maybe, but I think it’s my charming personality. Or maybe it’s the hair.”
Your daughter claps her hands, “Shiny! Mooth Opawata!” She points at Carlos, trying her best to mimic the song Lando constantly plays for her.
Carlos’ eyes widen in amusement, a big grin spreading across his face. “Did she just ...”
Lando, joining the group with his own second place trophy, can’t contain his smile. “I might have played the song for her a few times ... or maybe a few dozen.”
Sebastian shakes his head with a laugh at the antics of your grid kid, “No wonder she’s been trying to sing it all week.”
Carlos tickles her sides, making her giggle uncontrollably. “So I’m the Mooth Opawata now?”
She nods vigorously, tiny fists clenching the fabric of his race suit. “Mooth Opawata!” She declares again, much to the amusement of everyone around.
“I think,” Charles chimes in with a boop to her nose, “that someone is trying to steal your nickname, Carlos.”
Carlos squishes your daughter’s chubby cheeks, drawing another laugh from her, “There’s plenty of room for two Smooth Operators in the paddock when the second one is so cute.”
You heart melts watching them interact. “She’s just staking her claim ahead of time. Future Ferrari driver right here.”
Carlos winks, “With her genes? I have no doubt. But for now, she’s my lucky charm.” He gently sets her down, watching as she toddles over to Lando and grabs his hand.
Lando bends down, “Did you have fun watching the race, kiddo?”
She nods enthusiastically, pointing back at Carlos, “Mooth Opawata win!”
Sebastian chuckles as the rest of the grid kids quickly make their way over to take turns holding their sister, “You guys are going to spoil her.”
“She might as well get used to all the attention,” Carlos shrugs with a mischievous smile. “I have a feeling she’ll be up here in red one day too.”
***
As the group approaches Lance’s hotel room later that night, Lando knocks softly. “Mate, you in there? We brought a cheering squad.”
The door slowly creaks open to reveal a forlorn-looking Lance, sporting a slight bruise on his cheek. “Hey, guys.”
Your daughter breaks free from Sebastian’s hold and toddles straight to Lance, tugging on his hoodie. “Up! Up!” She demands.
Lance can’t help but laugh as he picks her up, her innocent joy slightly lifting his spirits. “Hi there, little one.”
She pats his cheek gently. “Boo-boo?” She asks with a concerned frown.
Lance smiles sadly, “Yeah, a bit of a boo-boo.”
She plants a tiny kiss on his cheek. “Better?”
Lance’s eyes soften, “Much better, thank you.”
Charles nudges Lance lightly. “See? Who needs physiotherapy when you’ve got magic little sister kisses?”
Lance laughs, “True that.”
Lance, now slightly more animated, takes a second glance at Charles, noting the distant expression he was trying to hide. “Hey, Leclerc, that face isn’t fooling any of us. Don’t bottle it up.”
Charles sighs, leaning against the wall. “It’s just … it was a frustrating race.”
Your daughter, sensing another brother in distress, makes her way over to him, her little arms reaching up. “Hug?”
Charles can’t resist her charm. He bends down, allowing her to wrap her little arms around his neck. “You think that’ll make the sad race go away?” He teases.
She nods seriously, pulling back slightly and placing her hands on either side of his face. “Smile, Char-Char.”
The mood lightens further when George joins you, although the disappointment in his eyes from how his race ended is still evident.
Mick steps forward, placing a mini helmet in your daughter’s hands. “Alright, remember our plan?”
She nods vigorously, clumsily walking over to George and offering him the helmet. “For you!”
George’s smile turns real as he recognizes the mini version of his own racing helmet. “For me? That’s so sweet of you!” He looks up at Mick, “Did you put her up to this?”
Mick grins, “Might’ve given her a tiny nudge.”
Sebastian joins in, “You know, George, there’s always another race. And you’ve got all of us cheering for you. And she,” he points to your daughter, “is your biggest fan yet.”
“I wuv you all!” She exclaims, spreading her tiny arms wide. The room instantly melts, each driver touched by the pure sentiment.
You wrap an arm around both Lance and George, motioning for Charles to join the hug with a nod of your head, which quickly leads to all of the grid kids huddling around you. “Bad days happen. But family’s here to make sure they don’t last.”
Lando chimes in, “And to ensure you have plenty of snacks. Chocolate, anyone?”
Max raises an eyebrow, “You brought chocolate?”
Lando winks, “I always come prepared.”
Your daughter claps her hands in excitement. “Choco!”

Tumblr media Tumblr media
———————
i had been meaning to scry/post the dungeon meshi main cast for a while. i figured in honor of the manga's final chapter would be a good occasion
design notes:
𝟣. laios touden:
outfit inspired by fr user Rafale's laios fandragon
ravenskull broadsword bc it has wings like his sword
tundra + antique secondary/tert, like falin (siblings)
2. marcille donato:
ruby runes to represent: her magic, her red hair bow, bloody hands when she was resurrecting falin
will o' the ember for her explosion spells
iridescent primary for her elven heritage + penchant of fancy things
3. chilchuck tims:
veined tert to represent his greying hairs
i debated between the gambeson (closer texture) VS tanned rogue vest (overall closer colors) for him, but ended up going for the gambeson as it feels more distinct
camo secondary for a "camo = stealthy" joke
[edit: 1 feb 2024] i think my screen had the Flux settings too high before and i thought his shirt was beige. its actually white, so i changed his shirt from a shabby to classy dress shirt.
4. senshi of izganda:
bamboo dried tea to represent his cooking supplies
unfortunately none of the helm apparel had the right colors for his helmet, so i opted for tan okapi to represent his helm's horn colors
i wanted to include the iron shield apparel for his adamantine shield/pot, but it wouldve covered up his kilt, so i left it out
[edit: 1 feb 2024] changed primary from ribbon to chrysocolla, an earthy gene to match his past as a miner. changed tert color slightly to match better. also gave him carrots
5. izutsumi:
initially i tried nocturne and spiral, but the armour pieces looked too short on them, so i ended up going for mirror instead
i also tried the tanned rogue apparels, but they covered up too much of the torso
wooly antennae for her ears
6. falin touden:
marshlurker's drape to represent her coat, bc there wasnt a lot of suitable coats, and the more purple-y hue (and hat) also references her debut outfit
sparkle tert to represent her magic
tundra + antique secondary/tert, like laios (siblings)
[edit: 1 feb 2024] edited her primary to be more purplish, since the animes confirmed her coat is supposed to be more indigo colored, and gave her browner boots. also edited her reference photo coat color to match it too
7. falin (chimera):
i chose to make the touden siblings both tundras, so that chimera falin could be a gaoler (based on the joke gaolers are just tundra 2.0)
spirit secondary bc she haunts the narrative
if youve made it to here, feel free to comment which fandragon scry is your fav! :)

Human sciens is simply fuck around and find out
So when the humans give a tour of the labs so alliance members see what the crazed apes are up to, suddenly BOOM the halls shake and lights flicker but the tour group is fine while the one giving the tour says something like "Ah thats the sound of progress" all while there's people rushing by with guns and extinguishers yelling about a code Red and subject escape
[22/09/23] Nice, that is a fun trope to work with. I think I'll leave the dinosaur crew be, and have some other questionable research station make a debut with an "accident". [23/09/23] Idea pops in my head after several rejections - Human-alien hybrids (because you can't cross-breed because that's not how biology works, but Humans are still curious, because of course we are) [24/09/23] Actually, no, I don't like that: 1st - fairly common as is; 2nd - doesn't feel right with the Humanity I'm writing out. No, I think a better avenue is, since Earth in this verse is gonna collapse in on itself in under a century, experiments towards terraforming methods, since that's a requirement and thus a literal blank check for any- and everything. Yes. (mad scientist voice) Yeessss, I can see it taking shape! [25/09/23] It took some kind of shape indeed.
_____________________________
Biology is the most diverse and complicated field of research with literally no end in sight. We will eventually discover every law of physics, and, yes, chemistry also has the potential for limitless combinations, only in biology can you find and create circumstances where trillions of different organisms co-exist and co-operate, compete, and can create a stable and self sustaining system. Not to mention mutation and evolution across generations, as well as the myriad of changes and adaptations a single organism can undergo in its singular lifespan. The potential is truly beyond the bounds of imagination.
Since biology is an omnipresent field in every civilization, it is only natural that it didn't take long before a Human led joint Coalition Flora research station was established - the Efflorescent Sneezewort Yarrow.
It is also natural that not long after that the non-Human staff sent this panicked message:
The Humans are insane! First, there is no regulation for anything beyond decontamination, which would be fine, if - IF - they didn't sometimes just bring the test materials out with them anyway for, and I quote: "Let it experience the outside world" or "Introduce it to my other plant buddies." The head researcher, instead of reprimanding this clearly dangerous behavior, just lets it happen. As a matter of fact, he almost exclusively and constantly ingests a plant-based gaseous substance through a device he calls a "bong" and locks himself for days on end within a random lab and, as he put it while looking at the ceiling: "Feel out the connections. We're all part of one whole, and only by becoming one with the roots of the soul can you truly attain the understanding of the spirit, and unlock the true calling of each sapling." As I draft this emergency message, there is a shuttle going through decontamination with two squads, one is an extreme disaster containment unit, the other a full on military special forces unit. With heavy duty weaponry. The worst is what they had to say: "Yeah, sometimes one of these nutcases gets the idea to combine plants with animal genes, and, to be fair, with access to the whole Coalition database and samples, I get it. There's a lot of really weird and cool creatures out there on each planet, makes most people at least think about playing scientist. Anyway, it's gonna be fine, the code said it was just a Mini HoH, so we'll be done in under an hour and you can all go back to doing your thing. I just hope we don't have to burn the thing this time, the prof said it's something like a dandelion and a small rainforest actual almost-lion from one of the real far out planets, but it's got bunny ears and the nose of a German shepherd, sorta. I think that's kinda neat." By the way, HoH stands for, and I am not making this up and the translator did get it right - House of Horrors. They claim it is just an homage to a piece of old Human culture. I don't believe them. I refuse to be a part of this madhouse for any longer than I must. Send a vessel and return me to a normal laboratory setting. I will now incubate myself in a cryo-pod to prevent any more exposure to these "scientists". Thaw me out in clean garbs and with two interns already doing real work on new medicines.

I'm from the great bear rainforest so I love this,,, may I hand you my dear friend the Kermode Bear? A rare subspecies of Black Bear from British Columbia Canada, also known as Spirit Bears!
Tumblr media
i ADORE Kermode bears!!!! I love it when subspecies happen in All animals (cuz it’s so fun) but in bears especially!! I like thinking about what could have caused them to mutate and evolve….. it is like a puzzle to me….
ANYWHO!!!! Did you know that Spirit bears aren’t actually albino? Many people assume that they are, but they actually have a gene mutation instead that causes melanin to not be produced in their fur, but they still have pigmentation in their skin and eyes, meaning they don’t qualify as albino!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5!!! A wonderful bear with a wonderful story!!

My New Boss Is Goofy Episode 8 Review - Meeting Shirosaki's Family
Oh gosh, Momose went and met Shirosaki’s family. What’s next on the list? Meeting Momose’s family? Marriage? The fact that I don’t know what awaits next always gets me hyped up whenever Saturdays come. This episode is actually very cute because it was filled with events I didn’t expect. This entire episode was cute and relaxing.
Tumblr media
Momose and Shirosaki are at Akita, Shirosaki’s hometown, for a business trip. After visiting the Namahage Village, the two then head off to Shirosaki’s family home to visit his grandmother; in actuality, his grandmother persuaded him to come so that she can show him something. While Momose was a bit nervous at first, he gets used to the flow of the Shirosaki household.
I have to say. Granny Shirosaki is adorable as heck. She’s probably one of the cutest anime grandmas ever. I’m still amazed she’s still alive even though her grandsons are in their thirties. I hope she gets to live for a long time. I just love how she’s just your typical Asian grandma by offering food to her guests. I love that she calls Momose “Ken-chan”, which is then picked up by Shirosaki by mistake and then his brother. Granny is seriously so cute. Fortunately, the goofy genes didn’t come from her.
The big surprise Grandma had for Shirosaki was that his brother, Seiyu, came home; before the reveal, Shirosaki said that he lost contact with his brother recently and was worried. Apparently, the goofy genes are genetic as Seiyu is as goofy as his brother Yusei. The reason he lost contact was that his phone got busted due to him accidentally throwing it in a fountain. Now I wonder if Mama and Papa Shirosaki are as goofy as the brothers; the genes have to originate somewhere. Though, the brothers’ naming sense is adorable. Shirosaki’s name is Yusei and his brother is Seiyu. The kanji for their names are the same, but flipped around.
Seiyu is a photographer and a bit free-spirited compared to Shirosaki. He’s rarely in Japan, so he has picked up a lot of mannerisms from overseas like reacting to gunshots and speaking in English (are they poking fun at America?). Watching the Shirosaki brothers be goofy made me wonder if they were in a competition to see who was the goofiest of the two; it’s honestly equal in competition. I’m glad Ken-chan is there to balance out the goofs. I’m glad that Seiyu is a kind older brother, especially since he picked up photography due to his brother gifting him a turtle doll. The fact that the anime staff casted THE Daisuke Ono to voice Seiyu is pretty amazing. The cast list was already pretty top-notch and adding in OnoD just makes it even more splendid. Oh and the brothers are only two years apart with Seiyu being 36 and Shirosaki being 34; this means Seiyu and Momose are 10 years apart.
The sub-plot of Aoyama cat-sitting Hakutou was too adorable. I liked how Hakutou referred to Shirosaki and Momose as his owners; yes, he used the Japanese word for owner, but in plural. He thinks both of them are his owners! Despite that, he’s not use to Aoyama and even refers to him as a weird old guy with glasses. Fortunately, Hakutou does warm up to him a bit as he sleeps on top of him, making Aoyama fawn over him. The fact that Shirosaki and Momose trust Aoyama so much that they’re letting Hakutou be in his care shows off how dependable the chief is. I also like how Kumatte-chan got jealous of the attention Hakutou is getting (or that could just be his imagination). I’d like to see Hakutou interacting with Kinjou if possible!
It was nice learning about Shirosaki and how he was like in the past as well as how he gets along well with his brother. I do wonder if the writers will bother making a showcase episode for them to go to Hokkaido to see Momose’s family. I’d like to see that! What do you think will happen next with our goofy duo?

What's up Mos, its me, creature, back with another interview, this time its lemon related
What music (genres and/or specific artists) do the characters like?
Does anyone in funkytown have unique clothing/jewelry?
Who is Garrett talking to in hip hop cherry pop?
What song have you had the most fun coming up with a story for?
What was the first song you came up with a story for?
What song has been the hardest to fit into the storyline?
What arc has been the most enjoyable to write so far?
What are some LD songs you want more people to listen to?
What items are baby lem not trusted with?
What are some items unique to funkytown?
If you could physically eat lemon demon songs what ones would you eat and why?
ironically a large amount of the cast don't really listen to music/have strong opinions on it, LD himself is one of the few denizens to have specific tastes (TMBG, Oingo Boingo, Talking Heads, Faith No More, DEVO, etc etc you know the pipeline). another character with defined music taste is indie cindy who likes lo-fi (obviously), hyper pop, and other scenecore genes.
funkytown is in a constant state of returning to a lack of identity, so as of right now most culture is just taken from human culture, but it definitely gets more abstract the longer something doesn't get interfered with.
zordechai the magnificent (wizard from the view-monster promo) has a side gig on running an ice cream shop, which is loosely based on the film. garrett is aware of zordechai's true identity during the song, hence why he's there to begin with.
lifetime achievement award and completely because the animation in my head is killer.
mold en mono is the reason the ncu exists beyond a simple concept. it was the first time I stylized Neil as he is now, drew the office fruits, "baby" lemon, and lucifer (who fun fact did not used to be a fruit object head, he was a demon in similar appearance as diablo).
I definitely end up having the most issues with bonus tracks (I don't think I used hardly any from damn skippy besides the instrumentals), but those are kinda an outlier since they aren't my focus to begin with. ones I particularly struggle(d) with are: chu chu rocket (got removed entirely since it's a cover), movie night, fire motif, hazel's modus operandi, bill watterson, consumer whore, between you and me, flamingo legs, everybody loves raymond, goosebumps (entirely because I don't read goosebumps), and ancient aliens (it's on its 3rd or 4th rewrite). this does NOT mean I don't like the songs it's just hard to write for them.
dinosaurchestra was complete smooth sailing and honestly my favorite arc, it's a nice change of pace from how serious things become and have been.
oh boy oh boy, listen to these: toy food, bottom line, funkytown (obviously), mold en mono (obviously), matches and nails, pineapple, behold the future, the machine with live backing, creepy, I know your name (crappy 4 track version), and happiest shit ever (some of the links might be broken/link to the wrong somgs my apollo cheese
lemon demon is actually a horrible influence and does not care if he carries any sharp objects, in fact he encourages it. baby lemon is smart enough to not do something stupid but that doesn't make him immune to getting grounded. I think the car keys and anyone else's phone is what he's banned from having access to, but this will not stop him
like I mentioned before, funkytown has an inherent lack of it's own culture, so any unique items would probably be the god relics like the magic 8 ball and spirit phone.
the machine because mmmm sheet metal

This is an absolutely off the wall AU but I was listening to the Spirited Away soundtrack and started wondering what would happen if I shoved my darling blorbos into a similar plot and here we are.
So I figure the premise would be Trevor moving a fair distance for work—the company he works for (probably something pretty similar to INAC) has opened a new headquarters somewhere and is relocating a significant number of its’ staff. Trevor, not having much to tie him down to his previous home, is pretty ambivalent towards uprooting himself to go somewhere else.
He’s giving his work friend Gus a ride to Gus’ new apartment (idk why Gus doesn’t have his own car, I just need someone to function as the same catalyst that Chihiro’s parents were because tbh I can see no way that Trevor would enter a creepy abandoned theme park of his own volition and Gus seems to fit the bill pretty well). Gus is helping Trevor navigate with a big ol’ road atlas and he’s doing a pretty good job of it up until he misreads the atlas and accidentally sends them up a remote country lane. Just like the movie, they wind up in front of a crumbling facade—the entrance to an abandoned theme park. Trevor is immediately ready to turn around and try to recalculate their route, but Gus is tired of driving and lobbies to take the opportunity to stretch their legs. Trevor isn’t so sure—something feels off to him—but Gus announces that he’s going to go explore with or without him and there’s no way Trevor’s going to let him go in there *alone.* So he grabs Kovacs, because he doesn’t know how long they’re gonna be out and he doesn’t want to leave his beloved turtle alone in the car, and reluctantly follows Gus inside.
They have a look around, but it starts getting dark and Trevor is more than ready to head back. Gus says he can smell food and wants to find out what it is. Now beginning to feel that something is seriously amiss, Trevor argues that whatever food they find here probably won’t be that great because the place is abandoned, to which Gus teasingly responds that maybe if Trevor had stopped at that McDonald’s he’d pointed out an hour back instead of forging on, he wouldn’t be forced to take such extreme measures. Naturally, they find the spirit restaurant and Gus tucks in. Trevor, seriously spooked, wanders off to wait for Gus with Kovacs. Then the spirits start coming out. Trevor freaks out, rushes back to find Gus and get the hell out of there, and promptly finds that Gus has been transformed into an animal (I’m not sure which kind—it feels sort of mean to turn him into a pig but maybe that’s just me). Trevor attempts to go back only to find a massive ocean has appeared where the exit once was. So all in all Trevor is having a bad time of it. Enter Angela!
She guides Trevor into a secluded spot away from the chaos of the emerging spirits and explains that the theme park is actually a theatre meant to entertain the residents of the Spirit Realm, run by the witch Vivian. Angela herself is a permanent employee of the theatre, as she can no longer remember her true name and is thus eternally at Vivian’s service. Trevor is terribly confused about everything and still quite frightened, but Angela manages to get through to him that the only way to remain safe here is to secure employment under Vivian, and Trevor decides to trust her. She sends him to seek out her colleague Gene, who might have work for Trevor or otherwise be able to help him get a meeting with Vivian. Trevor sets off with Kovacs in hand, determined to at least try his best to get out of this insane situation.
Gene has no work for Trevor to do, and instead guides him through the Theatre to have an audience with Vivian. Initially insulting Trevor by stating he’s too boring and untalented to be part of any of the actual performances, Vivian assigns him work as a stagehand in exchange for his name, which she replaces with the number 10-3-92.
That’s all I’ve got so far. I know Angela probably spends most of the plot trying to thwart Vivian and find a way to get Trevor back to the human world, but I haven’t thought up all the details of how that works out yet. Does Vivian have some kind of master plot here like in the original game? I have no idea. Possibly Angela decides to leave with Trevor after he helps her remember her real name (which I figured in this AU would be Àngela Guardiana)? Idk there’s a lot of loose ends here I just had to get the brainworm out.

Behold, a First Look at Nharro
Tumblr media
For being a pretty key character in Sinister's story (without him being asleep, the story would not happen), I haven't touched on Nharro much. This is my first piece of concept art for the Spirit King himself. I actually put a lot of thought into his design - much like the rest of Sinister, it doesn't look weird to look weird, it all has a purpose. Firstly, notice his pose, left hand raised upwards. (Left hand is noted because the word sinister means left-handed in Latin). This pose has been used, in some capacity, in Hinduism art, especially of the god Shiva.
Tumblr media
Note the lower right (Shiva's right, at least) facing palm-outward to the viewer. Shiva is regarded as a god of both creation and destruction within Hinduism, and this parallels Nharro as the ruler of limbo, a realm between life and death. I've thought about this a lot and incorporated it into his design - not only is Nharro very symmetrical, but most things in his design are in groups of two, five and ten. I was thinking about how to represent the soul without connecting it to any specific religion (even my look into Hinduism was surface-level). What makes the human being different from any other animal (assuming animals do not have souls)? Our intelligence? But animals like dolphins are just as smart. Our genes? Perhaps, but we share nearly 99% of that with pigs and apes. I would like to point to the thing that has let us survive as a species: hands, specifically, five digits and opposable thumbs to allow us to master the tool. We have two hands, five digits on each, and ten across both. Look closer at Nharro's design if you haven't already - each curling line, each pattern of dots, practically everything comes back to that theme of two, five and ten.
You may have also noticed the pocketwatch tied to Nharro's ring finger by a chain. This is so he can count the lifetimes of the many souls entering his domain, but it also represents the mechanical aspects of Nharro's realm, the gears and moving parts. To him, the cycle of life and death is the perfect machine, multiple components (decay, growth, et cetera) working together. However, as Nharro's mind spirals into unconsciousness, so does the underworld. The immaculate order is gone, warped; gears now spin independent of any drive shafts or machinery, no longer obeying laws of friction nor thermodynamics. Warehouses of perfectly-ordered containers are now strewn in absurd patterns, stacked to the ceilings for no logical reason. The rusted hulks of boats pile up in the harbor, the carcasses of a once-orderly fleet of limbo-faring ferries. No wonder the Shipwright went mad.
Now let's look at Nharro's subordinates, the skeletons at his sides. They are dressed in cloaks; an idealistic artistic representation of a Grave Digger's garb, no longer torn apart by the ravages of time. The leftmost (our left this time, confusing I know) skeleton is carrying a spade, indicating that this one would fill the role of Grave Digger. Nharro has his hand rested on its skull; an act of affirmation to who are essentially his children. The other skeleton is carrying a large tome, and while it is not visible in the image, some messages in Latin are written.
Nharro spiritus est rex terram inter vitam et mortem.
Dominus maris in quem omnia flumina influunt.
Manes ad milites, sepulchra ad sutores, cryptas ad urbes.
Mortis in visione vitae.
I chose Latin because, beyond it being the go-to language for writing interesting messages without creating a conlang, it also contains the root of the word Sinister, as previously mentioned. The messages translate roughly to:
Nharro is the spirit king of the land between life and death.
Lord of the ocean into which all rivers flow.
Ghosts unto soldiers, tombstones unto cobbles, crypts unto cities.
Death in the visage of life.
Beyond being a nice bit of purple prose to fill the artwork, it describes my idea of Nharro and the wider afterlife quite well. The "ocean into which all rivers flow" is a metaphor I've wanted to use for a while in conjunction with Sinister - the afterlife's geography is very ocean-heavy, and the sea has always been a source of mysticism, from sirens and sea monsters to the supernatural implications of Davy Jones' Locker, and the various disappearances of ships throughout the ages. Plus, if you think back to the idea of Nharro loving the perfect cycles of life and death, look at the water cycle. Water begins in rivers and flows to the ocean, where it is "reincarnated" via evaporation. Sinister has you die over and over, and where do you evaporate, or respawn from, each time? The harbor. The ocean. My plan for traveling between levels has you on a boat - you're on your own water cycle in that sense. And what of "tombstones unto cobbles, crypts unto cities"?. Obviously this is a resting place functionally, but look at the level architecture. Everything is built out of gigantic pieces of stone, as if the afterlife was literally built out of ancient tomb remnants.
The artwork on the book is also related; though it's basically incomprehensible in the image I took. The first one is an ornate skull at the bottom of the first page, which doesn't have any meaning, but it's in line with the rest of the art design for the drawing. The next one represents a group of skeletons in a boat, crossing a stormy sea. This obviously relates to souls entering the afterlife by boat; the imagery originally comes from Charon and his ferry in Greek mythology, but it's also how souls canonically arrive to Nharro's realm in-game. The third image shows four buildings, standing tall. However, the remains of four skeletons are entombed within, making the skyscrapers appear more like sarcophagi. This relates to that line "crypts unto cities", on a more metaphorical level.
On Nharro's actual physical shape, I borrowed a lot from Moon Lord from Terraria.
Tumblr media
The irregular head shape with multiple eyes, visible ribcage, and torso that tapers off is a very striking design, and something I have tried to mirror with Nharro. Obviously, his emaciated look comes from him being the god of death; of course he looks like a wizened corpse. Nharro's head was the first thing I designed of his character actually; I couldn't tell you what it properly represents, but it does somewhat resemble a coffin. If you look closely, a leering skull is visible in the centre, and this pattern is mirrored if you look at it upside-down, once more bringing things back to the themes of two, five and ten. In retrospect, it also looks very phallic, but given that sex is a key part of the life-death cycle (leading into birth obviously), it does still relate. Truthfully, it was an interestingly curved symmetrical pattern I could easily draw. Maybe it's different for everyone who looks at it. That is the key part of the project, after all. One thing can appear to be one outcome, and end up being another entirely. Nothing is as it seems. I think the Spirit King emulates that quite well.
(I am also aware that the name "Spirit King" is used by various characters, but it isn't Nharro's official title anyway).
I plan to have this drawing as a texture on a massive wall in the second level of Sinister, perhaps in some sort of church so I can lean into the more Gothic and fantastical elements of the art style. I could even make it transparent somehow and put it on a stained-glass window; now that would be cool. I have put masses of thought into this design, and so I really want to implement it somehow. I'd hate for all this effort to go to a character you don't even see.

I apologize if you've answered this question before, but what are your general opinions on Faith Erin Hicks's writing vs. Gene Yang's for the Avatar Comics? Hick's seems to be significantly more faithful to the characters from my perspective, but I've only read a couple of her works(Suki Alone and Azula in the Spirit Temple). On the other hand, I'm not blown away with ideas behind these comics, with Suki Alone particularly failing to do anything remotely interesting with Suki's character.
You know, I don't think I've ever posted anything on Hicks's comics in general. I've 'reviewed' individual comics of hers, but never spoke on her overall level of writing, characterization, and/or style.
Basically, I think her work is infinitely superior to Gene Yang's in every way while never quite hitting a home run.
What's become an outlier to her overall body of Avatar work is the first thing she got to write for the franchise (although she'd previously drawn a short story that Yang wrote), the Imbalance trilogy. I think she absolutely nailed the characterization of the gAang, created intriguing original characters, wrote dialogue that sounds like something human beings would say while also capturing individual character voices, and successfully depicted a world that has progressed beyond the cartoon's finale. I also think it's the only thing in the franchise that successfully engages with the idea of Aang's ability to take away bending.
But that story was also hobbled by being an explicit prequel to LoK, saddled with that nonsensical Bender Vs NonBender conflict. Hicks did a fair job trying to explain it and manifest it, but it's still mostly nonsense if you stop and think about it for a second. We also have an eye-rolling moment where Toph discovers how great it is to fight with metal cables, but at least it's a quick moment that wouldn't have stuck out if the narrative hadn't stopped to call it out.
I also think the final act of the comic was a bit of a fizzle. I can't say anything is really wrong with it, and it doesn't try to resolve things by claiming all the problems are solved forever, but it still feels like it doesn't quite live up to the questions and conflicts it raises in the first two parts and ultimately ends in a non-surprising way. It's not bad, just a bit underwhelming. I never got around to reading the final part of Hicks's Nameless City trilogy, so I don't know if that's common for her. But, you know, it's far from the worst thing in the world to be a storyteller whose worst trait are endings that merely satisfy instead of wow.
Unfortunately, this is around the time the franchise decided that new cartoons are back on the menu and Avatar Studios is a thing, so all of Hicks's other work has been hit hard by the company mandate that Absolutely Nothing Matters Unless It Is Animated. So I can quickly zoom through the rest of her oeuvre with a + and - for each:
Katara and the Pirate's Silver + A cute little adventure that nails Katara's character. - There's not enough material here for the full pagecount, so a separate and very stupid subplot with the rest of the gAang is thrown in to absolutely no consequence.
Toph Beifong's Metalbending Academy + There are some amusing gags here. - This is hit hard by the one-two punch of being saddled with a lot of characters created by Gene Yang and also dealing with lore created by LoK.
Suki, Alone + A great little character study of Suki. - Utterly pointless and even goes out of its way to provide absolutely no confirmed details about Suki's family.
Azula in the Spirit Temple + Exactly the story Azula needs at this phase in her arc with delightfully solid characterization. - So open-ended that the next Azula story can easily ruin her character again, thus it feels more like we're poised to take the next step rather than actually taking it.
When all we're getting is stuff designed to be as inconsequential as possible, not matter how well-characterized, it's hard for the stories to feel like they have an impact. Now, I'm not saying I'm against the concept of 'filler,' as they can be great episodes, but the problem is that these comics are dealing with characters whose arcs have already been fully detailed for us, the audience, and we've already seen the characters' best stories. We're treading ground that's already been covered, and it takes a very clever storyteller to really wow with that kind of setup. Hicks, while a good storyteller who gets the characters and franchise, has never shown (at least in what I've read of hers) that snappy kind of cleverness.
Ironically, Gene Yang has -- consistently -- in his original graphics novels that I've read. But he really did not bring it to his Avatar stuff.
So, overall, I like Hicks, and while her comics don't excite me in the way the novels do, I'm so traumatized by Gene Yang that I relish getting stories about the gAang with good dialogue and no stupidity like expecting me to believe that the Rough Rhinos pose a threat to post-finale Aang.

Fumiko Gojo, who she is, what she can do.
Warnings: may contain spoiler of jjk! art and ideas about my character are ENTIRELY made by me, and it is not allowed to repost those without credits!
Tumblr media
- Basic Information:
Fumiko Gojo, 15 years old (anime/manga timeline), first year student at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, along with Yuuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki, as first years.
Their teacher being Satoru Gojo, similarities between the two were absolutely obvious, and it wasn't harsh to understand their being father and daughter. Not only for how Satoru’s genes are so strong that Fumiko is a mini version of him, just female, but also because, in personality, they are alike. Fumiko’s mother, and Satoru’s ex wife died when giving birth to her, but Satoru keeps many pictures of her around, and Fumiko appreciates that. Although, her name was never disclosed between the two.
Regarding Fumiko’s choice in her uniform, she kept it as the plain, dark blue uniform of the school. She didn’t personalized it at all, even if her father protested and told her to have a little bit more of personality. She didn’t mind him too much, and just kept it plain. Although, as the picture shows, she wears a dark dress with a few leather strands on her thigh and her neck. The center metal belt connected with four pieces of fabric in the dress are attached to her hips.
Fumiko was trained by her father since young age. Something she mentions quite a lot, was her father teaching her sorcery from the moment she started to be able walking on two feet. Satoru never gave a particular reason, aside from getting her be strong and ready for the world.
Tumblr media
About her powers/abilities, Fumiko is very strong. She is super agile and flexible, and she liked close combat style. She can cast a Domain Expansion properly, and it is formed to be similar to her father’s, at the moment. She speaks about refining it, but has failed many times, and prefers to not mess it up without proper training. Aside from that, she can summon a Spirit Animal, or Shikigami, named Salem, a big, black cat, mostly like a panther, that is very strong, heavy and protective of Fumiko. Fumiko cares about Salem as a member of the family. She learnt to cast him when she was around four years old, and as her father reassured her that he wasn't a threat, the two grew together; infact, Salem is very much like a pet for the Gojos, and he is very warm as a normal cat would be around Fumiko and Satoru.
- I’ll be making a part two about the relationships with the characters, so that this doesn’t get too long. 🫶🏻
Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for your attention<3
Any support is appreciated!
Don’t repost without credits !

If you do rankings, here's a shitpost-like idea for you.
Rank the Links by whether or not you'd believe they'd haul off and punch a child.
I will use LU nomenclature 'cause it's the easiest one, but the takes will be more about my perception of their canon personalities than anything from the comic. Also, no HW Link, I really don't think about HW that often, sowwy.
Anyways, from most to least likely:
Hyrule: Would punch anyone who touches his belongings unprompted or looks at him funny. These fists don't discriminate.
Sky: Will slap a kid (any kid, as long as he believes there's no accompanying adults) in an attempt to discipline them, wholeheartedly believing it's the right thing to do... only to spend half a day running after that kid and apologising. And he never learns.
Spirit: Growing up among Niko and Alfonzo, he's prone to expressing all his feelings rather physically, be it an affectionate slap on the back or smacking someone upside their head as a means of criticizing their behaviour. Neighborhood kids are kind of used to it, but children from outside of Aboda tend to be wary of a young engineer who can't quite keep his hands to himself.
Time: Has no solid grasp on his own age, so mostly treats himself as a kid, even when in a adult-looking body; plus, Kokiri don't really distinguish between childhood age groups. So it's less of a "will he punch someone younger than him" and more of a "will he punch a fellow child". Now, Saria did her best in hammering it into Link that hitting others is wrong, but with Mido's bullying and the overall cruel nature of Kokiri... Long story short, if some kid happens to hit upon a sensitive subject when teasing, Link will snap, shove them and run away to cry, feeling super bad about the whole ordeal, maybe to the point of avoiding that kid for ages instead of apologising. That's kind of how his pre-MM friendship with the Skull Kid went, anyway. Also, unrelated, but this Link would be very puzzled upon seeing a toddler for the first time.
Wind: His deal is similar to Time's, except less traumatic. Wind generally doesn't mind a bit of roughhousing and play-fights, and, having barely crossed the point of societal adolescence, still feels like he's on equal footing with kids loosely in his age bracket. Definitely would start a street fight with the Killer Bees for funsies, win, and tell them it was a lesson not to bully others or something. Importantly, he'll try and break up the fight once it starts escalating into the dangerous territory, buuut, being as young as he is, he's still prone to lapses in his judgement.
Minish/Four/whatever (i tend to treat those as separate Links, but they aren't that different in their personalities): Do you think you get to see the Minish by being a bully? ...Okay, well, he's not a goody-two-shoes either, he's smack-dab in the middle of childhood cruelty spectrum, since Shadow Link has to come from somewhere — but that cruelty rarely, if ever, manifests in front of a fellow kid. He'd rather, like, pluck the leaves off of a Deku Scrub or something when he's in a mean mood, and even that is a rare occurrence.
Legend: This is one of the more pragmatic Links, if having Ravio as a doppelganger is any indication. And hitting a child? Most of the time, it's just ain't worth it. However, having seen a fair share of possessions and illusions, he knows well that the looks can be deceiving: if he has the slightest suspicion that the child in front of him may not be a real person, he may get angrier than normal, even if that suspicion is baseless.
Twilight: Not in a million years would he even consider hurting someone younger than him. Maybe pinching an ear on an especially bad day with an especially annoying kid, but otherwise? No, he's just not raised like that.
Wild: He's a teacher, and a damn good teacher at that — a better one than Symin, anyways. Being a very gentle soul, he gets along with kids just as easily as he gets along with animals; plus, raising a new generation is a duty, and this is the Link that treats all his duties extremely seriously. It wouldn't even cross his mind to intentionally hurt a child, neither verbally nor physically, so a few times he had to scold Symin and even Zelda for being too impatient with children.

Writer Tag
Thank you for tagging me, @kosmochlor and @saintmathieublanc<3
How many works do you have on AO3?
47 apparently.
What's your total AO3 word count?
469,180
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1) Attack on Titan rated T fic, macro micro (it was part of the canon there lol), blind character element
2) Zinc Molybdate (rising star but very far behind #1)
3) Another Attack on Titan fic rated T. Anime fans are all under 18 I guess.
4) Negan/Rick mpreg lol. I abandoned it when TWD season 8 deeply disappointed me and hopefully that doesn't happen again with the current fandom D: (I don't think it will unless they do something truly idiotic like kill off Ryan in an inexplicable way)
5) The Selfish Gene
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes I do. It's the least I can do when someone takes the time to write something. Plus many of the comments are so thoughtful and sometimes helpful to the writing process. And I just enjoy responding.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Um. Probably an "original fic" set in the holocaust, unfortunately. I've written fics long ago where main characters die, but those are not angsty somehow, just dark/shock value.
What’s the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
I think it might be Zinc Molybdate lol. First of all it has an ending. And I'd say it's very optimistic about the human spirit and possibilities for change.
Do you write crossovers?
The only true crossover I ever wrote was Alex from a Clockwork Orange x Norman Bates. But I never crossposted it to AO3 from LJ. Can't imagine why XD I'm more of an AU where you recast the characters into a different world girl.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes, writing bible fic is controversial apparently. Writing holocaust fic is controversial apparently. Mpreg is controversial apparently, although I have never received hate for mpreg on ao3, only on tumblr.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do..... I wouldn't say it's my forte, despite having it in almost every fic and fic chapter lol. I'd say there's always some element of something being 'off'. Normal people having bad sex, or a fucked up pairing having unsettlingly wholesome sex.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so. In small enough fandoms some ideas become sort of communal, but that's usually just fun 'sharing'.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
YES! And it's in a language that I'm pretty fluent in (but maybe not fic-writing fluent) so it was a surreal, amazing experience. I've translated several fics from Russian and one from French which was a stretch for me.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Only in terms of translating others' fics. I've always wondered if I'd be able to do it with the right person.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
Butchlander. Which probably means my favorite ship is whatever I'm currently hyperfixating on, but I've been on this kick for like 20 months now, so I don't take these things lightly :)
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
My very first fic, which I started writing at 18 and abandoned at 19 or 20. I couldn't do it, I couldn't give them a happy ending because the pairing was just too messed up, I couldn't give them a sad ending because that's just not within the realm of what I'm willing to do.
What are your writing strengths?
I think I am all about the Emotional Journey, and thus by extension, characterization. I like writing dialogue, so hopefully that's a strength, otherwise the readers get to suffer lol.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I have to remind myself to write even the most basic setting/scenery details. Most of the time I don't think it's very important. I'm probably not a very visual person (although that doesn't mean I don't love art and fanart!). I can write multiple characters outside of the pairing, and those scenes are fun, but I tend to prefer hyperfocusing on just the 2 mains, which is probably a limitation.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Oh god, I did it in a fic, and ... I shall leave it as I wrote it in my 20s, but... it was ill-advised. I'd say don't do it unless it's a language you know, and even then... why.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Uh. Peter Pan. And I don't mean during the Once Upon a Time craze that happened much later.
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
Within the Boys, I'll also say Starlander. I like it, and honestly the canon leaves much to be desired, so it's fertile ground. Fandomwise, I read quite a bit of Batjokes and Symbrock, but never wrote anything for them.
What's your favorite fic you've written?
I'll go with Zinc Molybdate. It's got that new relationship fandom energy that is impossible to just bottle up and deploy when wanted. But I like them all.
Zero pressure tags (and sorry if you've been tagged elsewhere) @phoenixtakaramono @eutz @merry-andrews and anyone who sees this and has ao3!

Kelsang: Wow Kyoshi you certainly are tall! One day you might reach my height!
Later
Kelsang: wow kyoshi! You are just as tall as me! You’ve gotten so big!
Not long later
Kelsang: spirits, she’s taller than me. She’s actually kind of scary now.
Kelsang had to have thought maybe she had those tall Air Nomad genes in her. If you can’t tell, I’m obsessed with Kyoshi being one of the tallest people around. And the tallest avatar. I like tall. Has a power to it.
EDIT EXTRA RAMBLING: since I am in fact obsessed with Kyoshi being the tallest and strongest (because tall and strong and sweet women are who I admire to be or something psychological maybe idk) I will point out Kyoshi was only 16 when Kelsang died so she literally wasn’t done growing. Many women grow until 18. Also, I’m mad that roku and stuff is always taller or the same as Kyoshi in the anime or in fan art. Like. I get a perfect line up look but get real. The boss bitch is taller and scarier than ROKU. And probably sweeter.
UGH I LOVE HER
