Here is my version of the Genderqueer Pride Flag. The stripe going through the middle is to show how these genders can flow together, going in between each one, while maintaining their individuality.

Meaning behind the colors:

Lavender: The mixture of blue and pink (traditional colors associated with men and women, present on the transgender pride flag) as lavender represents androgynes and androgyny. It also represents the "queer" in genderqueer, as lavender is a color that has long been associated with "queerness," including gay, lesbian, and bisexual communities. White: agender identity, congruent with the gender-neutral white on the transgender pride flag. Dark Chartreuse Green: The inverse of the lavender color; meant to represent "third gender" identity, i.e., those whose identities are defined outside of and without reference to the binary.

Last night I went to see Dancing To Music You Hate, a poetry/beatbox/music show by Jasmine Gardosi. Jasmine is Birmingham's Poet Laureate and also someone I used to do karate with many years ago. (Jasmine was much better than me and someone I always thought was super-badass.)

The show is about queerness, gender identity, and the visceral choking feeling of not being able to get your truth out. I had a LOT of feelings. Someone was chopping onions in there. We're both gay; we both went to a pretty similar bitchy hothouse all-girls school. (If not the same one, I think it was in the same foundation.) We both have the kind of anxiety that leaves you non-verbal. I'm cis but the show wishes everyone gender exploration and euphoria. The central metaphor got to me because I couldn't even dance to music I hated, not without getting very drunk; the agoraphobia and sensory overload and probably-dyspraxia wouldn't allow it. I wanted to belong enough to do that but couldn't quite fake it. There was a particular bit about telling parents and shame that landed like a punch in the throat because I have had that feeling but would never be able to say it into microphone in a room full of people.

It's touring nationally at the moment and you should definitely see it if you get the chance.
