Thanks for the tags @artsyunderstudy (queuing up some star trek snowbaz for tonight) and @you-remind-me-of-the-babe (simply cannot wait for this fic to premiere). And thanks to everyone who has tagged me recently. I've been quiet for a few weeks. Life and work and mental health shit, but also I got so very stuck with both my wips. I invested a lot of creative energy into lost boys and then got ... lost tbh. Burned out. All the joy got sucked out, which broke my heart. It's on a shelf right now. I'll return to it (that Baz is very precious to me) but I need a break. I can't bear to look at it atm.

And then! My COBB decided to set fire to my original outline and go off on an unanticipated hike through the woods without a map. No nav equipment. I'm not even confident it knows which star is north. It's just ... wandering around with zero fucks about due dates or timelines, which has sent me into a panic spiral. My one wip is an angsty teenager who has shut himself in his room and refuses to talk (and like same dude), and the other thinks they're Bear Grylls with the survival instincts of a spoiled house cat. EPIC TIMES.

So I started a new wip. (Obviously.)

I needed something fun. Joyful. Something that reminded me why I like writing in the first place. And my boys Dev and Niall fucking showed up, and I'm halfway done with a lil Watford-era, canon divergent wip from their perspectives. It's the most self-indulgent thing I have ever written, and I'm having a blast. Eternal love to my fellow Dev/Niall stan and comrade (and beta!) @valeffelees, and to @bookish-bogwitch and @thewholelemon for cheering this fic on. And thanks to @iamamythologicalcreature and @best--dress for chatting about craft and process and validating that sometimes projects need rest and restoration, and breaks are a natural part of creativity.

Short snip of untitled deniall fic below the cut:

Niall POV, Watford, year 7

“You’re the worst, Niall.” I grin. “So you always say.” I stretch my arms up and flex my fingers before interlacing them behind my head. “And yet you keep running to me for advice.” Dev’s nostrils flare, and there’s a very real moment I think he’s gonna punch me in the shoulder, but then his face splits into a sharp, crooked smile, and he shucks off his blazer. He tosses it toward his bed, but it only partially makes it and falls to the floor.   “You give the best advice,” Dev says, and I see the flash of his tongue piercing. “You’re so practical.”  He begins undressing. Casual, unhurried movements, until his entire school uniform is a wrinkled bundle on his bed, sans jacket which is still on the floor, and he’s rooting around his dresser in nothing but pants and socks. The light from the late afternoon sun cuts through our window of Mummers, casting him in muted orange and amber. He does this all the time. Mindlessly strips in front of me. We don’t have an ensuite like Baz does (the lucky bastard), and Dev has always been comfortable in his body. He’s open and confident in a way that makes my chest ache. I wish I were more like that, but I’m sinew and bone whereas Dev is polish and muscle. Half the time I feel like something the cat drags in, and Dev, well … Dev’s the cat.

Book Jackson/Holt lore is so interesting cause of the number of details brought up about their appearance and their livelihood as a whole. It feels very rounded in a sense due to how integrated they are into the story. I LOVE DETAILS

Details/Descriptions I think should be discussed more:

Both live with their mother in a cute white cottage, which has yellow roses in the front and generally a cheery exterior. However, the inside of the house is decorated with "dusty velvet couches, dark oriental rugs, and cluttered corners filled with knickknacks that could have arrived via time machine from Old World London" (pg. 181, Book 1). Also, described as "the dark funeral-parlor-style furniture"

Their mom is a science teacher at Merston High, though previously was a genetic research scientist. She wears "Woody Allen glasses, a sharp black bob, red lipstick, and a collection of pencil skirts and blouses in varying shades of black." (pg. 127, Book 1. ) Her personality is somewhat strict, but caring. She found out that overheating causes Jackson to transform, which was why she never let him play sports. She regards them as both of her sons and loves both.

Jackson's love for art is genuinely so cute and it's evident that he's very passionate about it. His fingers are occasionally stained with pastels and he just likes creating things in general, which is neat.

The fact that Jackson made ceramic flowers for a girl he liked is very wholesome, and then smashing it in the school parking lot cause she kissed a guy right in front of him is so real

DJ knows more about Jekyll and Hyde than Jackson cause he actually looked into his family's history.

DJ calling Frankie "Firecracker" cause she sparks a lot.

In this version, their dad was the one with the Jekyll/Hyde trait instead of their mom.

Jackson wears a vintage Rolex in the fourth book (pg.81) that was his Dad's

For appearances, Jackson has brown hair, thick black glasses, and hazel eyes. Later on in Book 2, DJ gains his own appearance, that being blonde and blue-eyed (I got that from the MH wiki page so I can't really confirm).

Jackson glasses are from LensCrafters

Small details like these are very cool and they make the characters feel more realistic!

First and foremost I wanted a design that could stand alongside the OG cast and capture the fashion of the time period. #2. It took me a couple of iterations to really differentiate her silhouette from any of the Hachiko Gang. #3. I kept her mid-length sleeves from her canon outfit. The laces on her shoes are also a reference to her hair ribbons. #4. I love the cat beanie both because it’s very 2000s and it reflects the game’s cat motif. #That being said I am still refining this design. I want it to look a bit less sporty and more geeky to fit Nagi. #I’m also figuring out what to do with her hair cause it is a bit busy around her collar area. #But short hair makes her look too similar to RG Shiki so I’m still brainstorming. Feel free to leave suggestions if you have them!

everybody hates Ben. like wtf. even before he admits his silly little fuckup, even if you side with his ass entirely throughout Lilly's little argument about who took the supplies, everyone (most specifically Lee) still treats him like trash

Lee could hate Kenny and he still gets offered nice dialogue options with him, but almost every piece of dialogue Lee can say to Ben is pretty damn condescending and outright hateful like wtf do you have against a 17 yr old bro... and this is STILL before Ben admits anything, so there is no reason why he should be so mad at him bc he's literally just breathing... he even gives him nasty looks and even when i do get the choice of a nice dialogue it ain't even directed at him, just about him, and wtf! why does a 37 or something year old man have beef with a 17 year old!??!! he didn't do anything yet!??? god?!!!

(omg okay i said this on twt and it's getting traction so im going to also share it with the class here)

Today we are going to discuss how crazy good this comeback concept is (or crazy good for a marketing girlie like me who enjoys creative concepts)

Let's start off with the first teaser we saw of the comeback which was the boys hinting to a dark concept – darkteen girlies ... RISE!! (this is our time)

We celebrated, we cried, we laughed..... but it was seemingly cut short when teaser vid dropped and showed to a hotel/building and we are going from room to room seeing the past comeback hits. Which were mostly fresh fun concepts.

Are we following me??

The concept art for this comeback is shown to be a dark hotel with each room representing the previous albums.

It was later found out that this concept art was created by the same artist (Max Dalton) who illustrated the Grand Budapest Hotel was commissioned to design this comeback (along with the design of the membership box and artwork for Monster HHU teaser).

Are we still with me??

Why does this matter?? GBH is such a great movie, let's start with that. But more importantly GBH is a movie about the characters yearning, feeling nostalgic of their past – they desire to go back to their youth while living in a world that has completely changed from the lives they once knew.

And since THIS IS AN ANTHOLOGY ALBUM it alludes to svt being the same as the character; looking back at their work, yearning for a time that is no longer touchable for them.

GBH has such dark undertones to it's story despite the pastels (which are mainly blue and pink) used through-ought the cinematography. WHICH I THINK IS WHY THEY HAD US FOOLED when they released the two teasers back to back.

Moving on to today's drop of the tracklist "Hidden Ver." A lot of people think that it was the full tracklist but let's all put our thinking caps on and look closer "Hidden Version" and the artwork having a zipper CLOSED

Meaning there's more to it.

Now for context, there is a scene in GBH where the prison guards are stabbing each and every food being brought in for the prisoners to make sure there are no weapons inside.

And...Jun said he and the members have been dropping spoilers..... a few Carats have noticed that he is pretending to shoot a bow and arrow the past two days and uh... besties if we look at the 7 in 17 she looks like a bow and arrow.

Now back to the hidden vers and how it correlates to the prison guards stabbing the sweet fun pastries/food... I am willing to bet $5 and three hair strands that under that zipper is the darkteen concepts we have been begging for.

That is all.
