judas baby! first time ive been able to draw them w/ lazarus and gabriel and be satisfied w/ it. judas is the youngest out of the three (14) and still doesnt much like the taste of blood so any time fae need it ezekiel (faer mom) mixes it in w/ some cranberry juice to make it go down easier. judas has been the fussiest out of ezekiel's kids to get used to drinking blood also and isnt very good at being a nightmare yet bc they favor mischief over fear.

*ugly happy weeping* thanks for asking this? It's such a treat to be spontaneously asked about my work :)

My 'favourite' is complicated, because the things I write have different meanings and significance for me at the time of writing.

1. Lein and Argis - 'Footsteps in the Snow' unfinished/ongoing m/m Skyrim romance

(sorry, I know only about 2 people care about this series and one of them is me)

Lein came to me when I was at a pretty low point in life, and I lost myself in hours of Skyrim, which probably saved me... I know his hyperbolically-angsty story reflects that (in different ways, obvs: I wasn't battling necromancers and the possible end of the world, no matter how much if felt like it!). And my rendition of Argis also reflects my own journey in a way to learning about being queer and learning that it's ok to be who and what you are when there's finally someone accepting of that in your life. Yes, it's set in Skyrim and yes there are unrealistic plot turns and devices, but it was self-indulgent and I needed it. I hope to be able to give it a full re-edit and finish it off one day.

2. Gabe & Odessa - m/f werewolf romance, ongoing series

This is a much more recent one, and is also absolutely self-indulgent, escapist fantasy fluff, but in a different way. It needs no more justification for its existence than enjoyment in the setting and the characters and the fantasy of it. I love Gabe and his wolfdogs dearly, and Odessa has become a fun mix of 'character in her own right' and 'blank slate for audience-projection'. I want to re-edit this, finish it, then get it professionally edited and self-pub it.

3. Winter Solstice (honourable mention category?) - m/f fae romance, unfinished

This was something I started working on and sharing over on Patreon, and people seemed to enjoy it there, and it has been shared in a very rough version here on Tumblr too. I have about 60,000 words written in total though - 7 sequential chapters and a bunch of 'later in the story' stuff. I was heavily inspired by reading the Silmarillion (I mean, the lead male character is named after my favourite elf in all of Tolkien's legendarium, Cirdan [he gets renamed to Ciridan though and he's not much like Cirdan; he's far too selfish to start with, but he learns]), and the whole idea of the different Valar responsible for different aspects of nature and life inspired the various royal courts, so I really enjoyed the world building for it, but I was never entirely happy with the story premise and wanted to change it. Hopefully, again, I can come back to it and fix that.

(4. a bunch of various fanfics that were really fun to write and I had a blast exploring)

Anyway, as always, I've taken this question way too far and probably bored you all by now with my ramblings. Thank you for indulging me, and thank you for your support and engagement with my writing.

some notes: >didn’t get the sizes perfect, there’s a little bit of inaccuracy >epitome and gabriel (fae ++ six-limbed imperial-ish-whatever) are correctly sized next to each other though >gabe’s specifically the largest an imperial can get >the employers (funny shadow-looking guys in the middle) don’t have a fixed size, so they’re teeny here because it’s funny >jeb (actual imp) is about average for an imperial >deimos (orange-winged nocturne) is supposed to be particularly small for a nocturne but i messed that up, i think >no comment on crackpot (feathered nocturne), darnold (coatl), victor (spiral), or hank (ridgeback) >yes, all of them are fandragons i don’t have a problem shut up

I realised I haven’t posted a lot about the mlb labyrinth au yet

I think this and the rom au are the ones I’ll be focusing on for now!

So to start the labyrinth au of, we begin with Marinette a bakers daughter who loves daydreaming

So one day when her parents are off out the 18 year old meets up with her unofficial “aunt” Nathalie who’s just come back from a trip to Greece

Nathalie ends up telling Marinette about the story of the girl in the labyrinth, not knowing that chaos was about to start when Marinette accidentally wishes her away

And that’s how it starts, Nathalie disappears and Marinette is left at the start of the labyrinth with 13 hours to find her aunt before she becomes a goblin oh wait the Goblin Queen

So Marinette is still her usual clumsy and awkward self she doesn’t know anything about fae culture really and ends up in a really embarrassing position with the Prince

So he joins her on her journey, even though he may or may not have been banished from the castle whilst this is going on

Nathalie is panicked, she’s been in this position before luckily managed to get out of it but is now back in it

She instantly begins to think about loopholes and how she can get her and Marinette out safely

Yeahh meanwhile king Gabriel is like Yeahh I’m gonna make sure you don’t run out on the wedding day this time

And that’s how it starts with a few more stuff here

Nathalie knows a whole lot about fae culture, she knows how some of the most dangerous things can happen if you make a deal with a fae

Marinette slowly learns a lot more about the dangers of fae and becomes increasingly determined to get her and Nathalie out of there

Adrien caused to much chaos with his magic hence why gabe banished him until the wedding redo

Gabriel is strict he’s fiercely protective over his son and the woman he loves but hates outsiders like Marinette

Hence why he’s using every trick in the book to try force her to loose

Choices Summer Updates

I admit, I didn't expect to be doing a post like this until next week with the July Insiders, but here we are!

Undercut due to length of post

Blades of Light and Shadow 2 Oh, do we have a story for you! When you face the Shadow Realm once again, your skills are put to the ultimate test. Are you back in the Realm of your own accord? Or are you there against your will? Only time will tell, in the September 2023 premiere!

So it looks like the skills from BK1 may be carrying over to BK2. I'm interested to see what the Empire of Ash is like compared to the Shadow Court and how everything will play out.

My guess is that these are the new Love Interests mentioned in the video that was put out after BK1. Which means those who were hoping for Aerin when BK1 was releasing could potentially have their win! And just like Imtura, Mal, Nia, and Tyril, he is getting a new look. The other is named Valax, and I am intrigued about her and how she'll fit into the story. I remember when it was announced BK2 would add new Love Interests, I was hoping it would be a female Elf and male Orc. It looks like I may have been half right.

Unbridled: An Untameable Story Saddle up, partner! In the spinoff of Untameable, you’ll play as a brand new character, but you'll still see some familiar faces around. So get ready for a rodeo of a good time!

My guess is that the new MC will be someone who takes a job at the ranch in someway. As for the Love Interest, no idea. I imagine, like Untameable, it'll be a Single Love Interest book.

So I think the first image may be something to do with the new MC as we know that it is a gender of choice book. The second image I think might be related to Kit in someway as they may have since gone more into their dream of working in food. The third and fourth image I'm guessing may be CGs for the Love Interest.

The Cursed Heart 2 Coming 2024: The Cursed Heart 2! After a grueling battle to rid Kieran of their curse, you may think all has been put to rest. But friends, that could not be further from the truth. A new threat stands to rid the land of fae – no matter which Court they belong to.

I really don't know what to expect for The Cursed Heart 2. I do have a theory that somehow Longclaw is going to become Gleam again, but I don't know.

Intrigued as to what this could be in relation to during the book. Only one way to find out.

Immortal Desires 2 Another sequel is in the works! Immortal Desires 2 will also premiere in 2024! After your Turning at the end of Book 1, your kindling romance with both Cas and Gabe soon turns to jealousy when you are faced with the ultimate decision – which coven will you dedicate your life to?

To this day, I am still surprised at the decision to give this a sequel rather than have it be a standalone. And I am definitely ready for more. I had a feeling the whole choosing a coven thing would be a part of it and it'll be interesting to see how the decision affects the relationship if you went the poly route during BK1. For me, it'll probably be Clement as I played Gabriela's route only.

All that being said, I feel like there could be a chance something will happen that may see MC, Cas, and Gabe make their own coven.

Upcoming Themes Sometimes, the community will request a certain type of book, and we love to hear those ideas. We often can’t share details about books that will come out way in the future, but we dug up a few hints that we wanted to share. In 2024, you can expect to see books about: 👻♥️ | 🔪🧐 | 🏒🔥

I know I've said about being rubbish with emojis, but this time I'll have a go haha.

The first I imagine means another supernatural book (woohoo!), bit of a strange pair of emojis to pick though. I guess the heart refers to the Love Interest(s). Guess we'll find out next year.

The second screams mystery book. The monocle emoji gives me Poirot vibes. I'm guessing a murder mystery.

The third pair I imagine is in reference to the sports book they announced earlier in the year. Looks like said sport could potentially be hockey. I'm not really a sports person, but for now, I'll say I'll give it a go.

*distant drunken cheering and music from the shore*

Jack: *glances back at the sea side town and makes out the shapes of the rest of the boats crew, all drunkenly stumbling about and having fun* assholes… *sighs and turns to flick on the motor to bring the nets in*

Jack: *spins around and looks at the ladder leading from the deck down into the water, normally used if for whatever reason a crew mate goes overboard* oh great better not be a fucking walrus again- *pauses upon immediately hearing the pained cries of a very sick baby* wh-what the fuck? *looks at the ladder to see what looks like a bundle of fur wrapped around a screaming infant boy* sh-shit shit shit- *immediately drops the nets and pulls off his gloves as he carefully hurries to the baby* hey lil guy where’d y-HOLY FUCK!!! *staggers back and lands flat on his ass upon seeing a grown man in the water, holding onto the ladder and pushing the bundle closer to Jack*

???: h-help, please, he’s sick I-I lost my herd… I lost my wife I-I don’t know how to look after him…

Jack: *groans as he sits up but quickly rises to his feet thinking it’s just a man whose probably ship wrecked and has been stuck at sea with his kid* herd? You mean family? How long you been out here bud- *picks up the baby carefully and nearly drops them upon pulling back the fur a little to see not legs, but a seal like tail* I?… what the-

???: they came after us, the water was red, I found my pup in our nest, I-I can only hunt I don’t know how to look after him. *suddenly pulls himself aboard showing his lower half to be that of what looks like a harbour seal only with fur around his waist, like he’s shed off half of a suit to reveal his human half* y-you help? Humans help injured things right?…

Jack: *standing there in utter disbelief, holding an infant mythical creature and staring at a grown mythical creature trying to calculate what’s reality and if he’s finally snapped from the pressure of his job school life balance* …I?… *suddenly looks down as the babies cries give way to coughing and fragile little baby seal honks* …what are you?…

???: we’re, selkies… mermaids y’know?… I thought humans still remembered us?… *suddenly grabs the fur at his waist and with a kick of his tail splits his lower half in two, before the fur suddenly unfurls revealing a very, human lower half* y-you can help right?… nice human?… *stands up and holds up the fur tucking it over the baby*

Jack: *trying to figure out where to look without being disrespectful and failing, finally settles on his face and notices the whiskers hiding amongst the man’s facial hair, the distinct freckles and spots on his shoulders and neck, and his dark, seal like eyes* …what’s your name?…

Gabe: *feeling hesitant to give his name knowing as a fae the power they hold* … *looks at how gently the human holds his pup and how comfortable he’s starting to look in his warmth* …I’m… Gabriel…

Jack: I’m Jack… whose this little guy?… *gently tucks the blanket around him a little more and rocks the baby making him calm down and cling onto him wanting to be warmer*

Gabe: *assessing the others nurturing nature, deciding he’s proven himself to be the makings of a suitable mate* …Cole.

Jack: okay… you- you go take him and sit down in the cabin, I’ll, be in in a minute to take you… home…

Gabe: home… *hugs his son close* we wait… *walks past jack and into the cabin as he’s told*

Jack: *staring so disrespectfully as he walks away, though noticing the dark fur leading down into webbed and clawed feet* … *walks over to the motored hook and cuts the net deciding to deal with the consequences later*

*a short boat ride and a frantic rush to Jacks flat later*

Jack: *pacing back and forth in his living room reading through article after article on babies with high fevers and fevers and illness in seals* maybe I should take you to the hospit- no I can’t do that-

Gabe: *holding his crying son trying to rock him gently but being a little too rough and only stirring him up* pl-please Cole I don’t know what you want- wh-what do you want?…

Jack: *glances up from his phone* hey hey- *walks over and takes the bundle from him holding the baby carefully* gentle, he’s much smaller than you you have to be caref- *pauses watching a pile of fur fall out of the selkies coat… the original bundle Cole was wrapped in* huh?…

Gabe: … *picks it up and feels his heart hurt* mi vida… mi corazon… my Martina…

Jack: that was…

Gabe: my wife’s coat… I came back from hunting and… it was all that was left of her… I found it just outside our nest… I’ve… been trying to take care of our pup on my own but- he won’t eat… and now he’s sick I-

Jack: your wife?… i- wait- eat… what have you been feeding him?…

Gabe: fish?… penguin? The stuff I eat…

Jack: … *hands Gabe back the baby and his coat before running to the fridge and pulling out a carton of goat milk before heating it up in the microwave for a few seconds and testing it on his fingers* this might work! *hurries over and pauses upon realising he has no clue how to feed the baby* … I’m gonna have to do this. Very. Very carefully… *walks back to the kitchen and returns with a spoon* I need you to hold him up right so I don’t spill it and hurt him okay?…

Gabe: *nods and shifts him a little*

Jack: *carefully pours some onto the spoon and holds it to the baby* come on… come on…

Cole: *sniffs a little and opens his mouth trying to suck for milk but manages to take it in with no problems*

Jack: h-haha, it worked.

Cole: *starts fussing again wanting more*

Jack: shhh okay okay hold on lil guy it’s gonna be slow but you’ll be much better after this. *pours a little more milk onto the spoon and keeps feeding him*

Gabe: *staring at him in awe, deciding he’ll be a suitable mate then and there to raise his pup with* he’s… he’s happy…

Jack: he’s still a bit flushed. I’ll get you two settled then go the pharmacy for some medicine that might help him… and a bottle and some proper formula… hopefully they’ll still be open. *smiles watching Cole rub his eyes, all tuckered out and full at last* I bet that feels better huh lil guy?…

Cole: *lets out a content lil honk*

Jack: here give him to me, I think you’re supposed to do this after babies eat.

Gabe: *does as he’s told and hands him the baby again, all the while watching intently*

Jack: *slides the fur coat down and gently pats the babies back until he burps* heh, seems it’s the same for seal human babies too.

Cole: *yawns and nuzzles into him* honk…

Jack: *carefully moves the coat back up and swaddles him in it as he hands him back to Gabe* …what exactly. Is that fur by the way?…

Gabe: it’s my coat. I put it on I become a seal, I take it off I can walk on land… I can’t go far without it or I’ll… get sick… that’s what the elders always told us at least. Stories about humans kidnapping selkies to marry them and stealing their coats so they can’t leave… but… you’re not cruel like their stories…

Jack: yeah I’d heard about those stories too but, I always assumed they were fake because well… I’ve never seen a selkie in person before but… *looks away shyly* y-you’re gonna have to wear more than a coat while you stay here! Some underpants at least!

Gabe: what are??? Underpants?

Jack: oh god…

Week 8 Recs: Middle of the Road

Once a year, Cole Cassidy is forced to face the fact that not all of his loved ones are resting peacefully in his memories. To his surprise Hanzo is willing to listen to his woes, if only for a brief moment.

Hard choices are a necessity in this line of work—Genji learned that years ago. But necessity doesn’t make those choices easier, especially when he has to watch someone else pay the price. He wants his brother and brother-in-arms in any state but dead, but it's a matter of Hanzo paying.

He can’t tear the man away from his actions, no matter how different he is now and how long it’s been since.

Except there's more to Hanzo than Jesse realizes - more to the story of the Shimada brothers than he was privy to - and a reappearance of a mentor thought long dead throws everything Jesse thinks he knows about himself and what he believes in into chaos.

Hanzo knows from subtle clues that his presence in Hanamura could mean trouble for his clan and himself, but that doesn't stop him from carrying on a secret affair with the charming cowboy. It's just a fling though, and he knows it will end eventually. He'll be able to put the cowboy behind him and continue on with his responsibilities and duties to the Shimada Clan. Little does he know, it won't be that easy, and the cowboy's short presence in his life will have a dramatic and devastating impact on everything that is to follow their little affair.

Lol, I messaged you asking which OC to write about without checking the list. I need more tea. 🌸 Who's your most morally questionable OCs (not including villains)?

Gods, this is a hard one. I mean, it's gonna have to depend on your definition of "villains." I've got a couple of characters who aren't formally antagonists, but are still very much awful people.

To be fair, NONE of my characters are paragons of virtue. Most of these guys suck a little bit. Hell, even one of my romantic leads eats a bunch of people in the first book. And the second... and... yeah, Reli's got a theme here.

And if we're considering that the Fae do NOT measure themselves by Human ethics? Even the so-called Good Guys are going to make some decisions that we all hate. I wish they'd ask me before they do this crap.

As it is, I'm gonna be stuck somewhere between Ser Elias and Agent Larson, though. I won't tell you why, because that would be a spoiler, and they're both allies in the first book, but yeah. These two... just nah.

🍀 Which OCs would get along the best?

Most of them do interact at some point, and oddly, Doctor Pertwee and Billy Jameson surprised me by getting along way, way too well. Two old dudes who are trying just SO HARD to not have any more adventures of their own, but keep having to step in to rescue those damned kids who can't stay out of trouble. I suppose it was only a matter of time before they wound up living together.

✧ got funky hair coloring going on, blue-gray fading gradient ( almost looks purple in certain light ) while near the part stays a dark brown. shoulder-length as always

✧ has snake bites, industrial bar, lobe, and helix piercings, and a bridge / earl bar

✧ ( gonna keep liboiron as his fc for now )

✧ non-supernat people think he's got strange tribal lineart tattoos from elbow to wrist. nah, they're otherworldly markings, granting him pseudo longevity via "healing" -- siphoning his own mana reserves constantly ( takes a ton of naps to compensate )

✧ in the middle of his palms are eye tattoos that he can use to "see" into places & traverse beyond the veil betwixt mundane and non-mundane

✧ wood and metal's easier to be able to peer through. stone isn't, especially black onyx / volcanic-ash infused materials

✧ his tats seem ( are ) sentient, telling him important things -- daily life tips alongside prophetic omens ( like that one comic strip with the woman getting possessed by a demon, but in actuality the demon is helping her out of a depressive funk )

✧ said patron 'deity' is one of those strange long-forgotten gods that everybody never gets the name right of. he just calls them steve.

✧ total whiz with spells, hexes and curses that have to do with words / wording ( e.g., a client walks around with a hexed stone / bag in their pocket, and their harasser goes to speak their dead name only to instead say their personal chosen one )

✧ finds out he can dreamwalk, which is another gift he isn't quite accustomed to yet

✧ also REALLY INTO plant magic, just fyi

✧ thinks social media "witches" are stupid and essentially all just money-hungry grifters

✧ is a "can't sit straight to save his life" bisexual and has a death-head hawkmoth familiar ( which can come alive from a tattoo across his throat / make smaller copies of itself )

✧ he likes humans, angels & angel-adjacent monsters, minotaurs, gnolls, kobolds, & cat types, orc and orc-types, werewolves & werebeasts in general, satyrs, centaurs. the fae occasionally veer into uncanny valley territory. not too much a fan of vampires, though. or zombies / ghouls / thralls

What I expected to got caught in while writing Peacock!Marinette AU: Speedrunning drama+sentiplot ani%, unhinged Duusu being gleefully murderous about Gabe and in general a giddy eldritch fae

What I'm actually getting obsessed about: Fu's crushing guilt over failing his first responsibility and his first kwami companion in one fell stroke, which nothing he can do can ever soothe - not decades of research, not retrieving the brooch, not repairing it and giving Duusu his sanity back, not NOTHING

“Nettlewisp, nettlewisp, nettlewisp,” Lucy whispered. She hesitated, trying to think. “Our opossum is great, our opossum is strong,” Verona continued. “Protect her from goblins who might do her wrong,” Avery whispered. “If goblins try to hurt or grab, give them something prolonged,” Lucy said. “Time enough to run, no need to be violent, but make it strong,” Verona added. “Bewilder and daze, confuse and craze, fill their eyes and ears with…” Avery hesitated. “Sweetness, rainbows and birdsong,” Lucy finished, as she drew the symbol into the dust.

oh i love this. And this could be a really good track for them to take, moving forward. There's a mention at some point that Awakening together binds their practice together, and this seems like a great way to capitalize on that, getting more powerful results by creating a single working as three. Also, great to see how seamlessly they weave this together. It's not brilliant poetry or anything, but it hangs together and they didn't need to preplan it or map out who says what. I don't think rhyming is a requirement for nettlewhisp but it seems like it would improve fae-derived magic.

Verona's also getting really good at those diagrams. Sure, Nicolette commented that they seemed amateur, but Verona's only had a few weeks to learn in, and basic lessons in the symbols. But she's stretching those signs into pretty complex effects, and it's all stuff she's designed herself.

Put on a show, Verona had said. Lucy hadn’t even caught that one, which was probably good, because the Others hadn’t either.

oh smart! I also did not pick up on this, though I did wonder why Verona and Avery weren't commenting/cheering for Lucy

interesting that so far each arc has built up to a confrontation with the choir, and the only time that confrontation actually happened (arc 1), we saw it through Gabe's eyes. I wonder if Zed and Brie's plan will actually work, or the Kennet Trio will be called in to try and help.
