I've done 23 books out of 60, so we'd better keep this thing moving! Here's a blast from the past, given a new typesetting and new life now that I'm not a baby bookbinder anymore, as well as a whole new design vibe! The series starts with Tell Me The Name Of God, You Fungal Piece Of Shit by @sunderedstar, and guys. Guys. This story fucks so hard. It's ffvii characters in a setting fused with the southern reach trilogy and it fucks so hard, I strongly recommend even if you only have glancing familiarity with either base component, which sure was the case when I read it.

And now that I'm not sprinting through the process to include it as a surprise in a gift package, it also has the series extras! Was that an excuse to see this graphic and font play out across multiple title pages? Idk maybeeee

And I definitely dug in and tried to push myself on the typesetting within the text, including the occasional timeskip or flashbacks, and we aren't even going to talk about how many greek-friendly fonts I combed through. And the newt serif body font was definitely a deliberate choice for how unique its italics are without being too obtrusive.

The final FINAL touch was the cover decoration. This was the only piece in the month that had me breaking out the holographic vinyl, because honestly, what else was I supposed to choose? No photograph I took does justice to the acidic saturation and strong color shift of the holographic material as seen with my eyeballs, but as sunderedstar reminded me, that's actually incredibly perfect for a story with so much of Annihilation in its makeup 😂 I love this thing to pieces! I'm extremely pleased with how the whole thing came together

Running from a sandstorm they entered a cave, one-shotted the giant alien scorpion that was supposed to be their first combat encounter... and ventured further inside, where they found the luminouscent fungus (you cannot kill me in a way that matters).

These networks mean that dead fungus remains connected to others in its community through the knowledge it shared.

Broadly: there is safety in communities, whether it is in sharing knowledge of threats, or the location of clear cool water. Death is never the last step. Survival is as natural as death and decay. We all survive many deaths before the last one.
