Every pureblood boy from Slytherin didn't even care to ask me. They just demanded that I go with them, and I said no." And with that, her mother nodded and decided to go quiet. Y/n was jumping out of happiness in her mind because she shouldn't show that much happiness in front of her mother. They were shopping for a ball gown, but Y/n didn't like any of them. They were pretty but just not what Y/n wanted. After spending the whole day in shops, her mother decided to go home. "Since neither of the dresses you tried on are perfect, I will get you a custom gown.", she said before calling a house elf to take Y/ns measurements. After the house elf greeted her, Y/n smiled and helped the elf take the measurements. She wondered what color her dress would be, probably in dark green or black.

.....few days later, in the Grand Hall.....

Owl were flying in constantly, delivering the girls their dresses, and the biys their suits and robes. Pansy got hers. It was a long black dress with a slit, the one she expected. She was squeling with happiness. While Y/n was still waiting for hers, everyone got theirs. Only Y/ns was missing. She started to worry, panicking that she wouldn't have a dress. That was until an owl flew in and dropped a huge box in front of Y/n. Everyone was now looking at her, especially Fred Weasley, curious about what her dress is gonna be. As she slowly untied the black bow and opened the box, Pansy and her gasped. In the box was a beautiful dark green ball gown, probably costing a lot of money. She slowly stood up from her seat, grabbed the shoulders of the dress, and lifted it up, hearing multiple gasps from the majority of girls, even the boys were gawking at the dress. All of the Gryffindors turned back from the Slytherin table to look at Fred, realizing that he probably got the most beautiful girl as his date to the Yule Ball. He snapped out of the trance when Y/n and Pansy picked up their boxes and left the Grand Hall. "Damn, I'm a lucky guy," he said, mesmerized by not only the dress but also the thought of how Y/n will look in it. "You mean the luckiest guy," Ginny corrected him. He nodded, closing his parted mouth and taking a sip of water. He smirked as he remembered the jealous looks that the girls gave Y/n, knowing that their dresses weren't as luxury and expensive as Y/ns. When he got to his dorm, he immediately went to the desk to write a letter. The letter was for his mum, Molly Weasley, telling her how he saw the most extraordinary dress he's ever seen and that it's his dates dress. His mum was surprised that he asked a Slytherin out, but after hearing him rant about how she looks, talks, and is kind, changed her mind. Molly already loved the girl even tho she hasn't met her yet.

"Alright, so my dress is beautiful, but yours? Girl, your mother went over the moon with this one. You'll be the best-looking one." Pansy complimented her dress. Y/n just thanked her. She knew both of them would look ravishing in their dresses. "Yule Ball is in five days, oh my god I can't wait" both of the girls jumped, holding their hands and jumping on Y/ns bed before dropping on the bed, laughing at each other. "I can't wait." Y/n sighed, daydreaming about how she's gonna look. Pansy nodded before standing up to go hang her dress on a hanger. Y/n copied her. She looked into the box, finding a matching dark green high heels and a tiny box that probably had matching jewelery in it. She took that out, too, sorting it on her nightstand.

The evening has come, the Yule Ball was tonight. Y/n and Pansy were now rushing to get ready. They got into their girl talk and gossiping so much that they didn't realize what the time was before it was too late. Pansy put her dress on easily while Y/n was struggling before asking Pansy to help her get in the dress. After much struggle, she got in, and Pansy zipped the back of the dress before handing Y/n her heels. Y/n thanked her and put them on before sitting down in front of her desk and looking at the mirror, checking if her hair wasn't messed up. She opened the jewelery box before putting on the necklace and earrings, which shined as the stars in the midnight sky. After getting done with that, she stood up and straightened her dress, looking for Pansy. "Pansy, are you ready?" she called out just as Pansy was walking out of the bathroom. Pansy hummed before grabbing Y/n hand and walking out. Y/n asked Fred if he could wait for her at the end of the stairs in front of the ballroom. He happily agreed, not asking why, but he was sure so that she could grab all the attention.

As they got there, both of the girls noticed Hermione, who looked like she was hesitant. As they got closer to her, she turned around. "Hi Pansy and Y/n, you both look beautiful," Hermione said before smiling. "Thank you, you look beautiful too," Pansy and Y/n replied, saying it in sync before all three of them shared a laugh. "Can I walk with you down the stairs?" Hermione hesitated, shyly looking down. Y/n nodded before all three of them turned and started walking down the stairs. As George heard the heels click, he motioned for his twin to turn around. "Look at Hermione," Parvati Patil said, mesmerized by her dress. "Look at Y/n," George said, not noticing his twin staring at her. George pushed him a bit, nodding towards Y/n as she was close to the end of the staircase. He slowly walked uo to her, smiling at her before putting out his hand, taking Y/ns hand in his bigger one, giving her delicate hand a kiss on the knuckles. She blushed before complimenting him, "You look handsome," to which Fred responded, "You look so mesmerising, I could watch you forever." She hit him with her hand, "Stop it, that's so romantic," she whispered. "But it's the true," Fred said before the ballroom dorrs were opened. The champions opened the dance while the others joined after them.

Fred took Y/ns hand, guiding her to the dance floor, to which she was happy. All the days she spent waiting for this exact moment finally came to life. She smiled at him, placing one hand on his shoulder while the other one was in his hand. He placed his hand on her waist before they started dancing, not breaking eye contact even once. At some point, they felt as if all the eyes of the world were on them, looking at how perfect they looked together. They danced the night away, constantly cracking jokes and laughing together, drinking and asking questions about each other. As the night got to the end, they sat down at a table, both of them exhausted from all the dancing and partying. Y/n put her head on his shoulders, closing her eyes and noticing the faint smell of his cologne. She noticed that he always smelled like fireworks, paper, and gunpowder, which made sense. Fred put his hand around her shoulders, keeping her warm in the cold night, thinking about how she smelled luxurious, probably thanks to her expensive perfumes that all smelled fantastically. She smelled like books and a garden full of flowers.

He felt as if he was the biggest garden in the world, and she was the most beautiful and rarest flower that only he had.

i just spent like £45 on new jewellery!!! and im so excited!! i bought a ring with butterflies on, a ring with vines on, a ring with the sunrise on (reminds me of fred weasley because i think he’s the sunrise; the light after a rough night), a basic dainty herringbone necklace & a necklace with the moon on to remind me of my remus<3 and i am so excited i love jewellery!! anyway sorry for rambling (was this rambling idk!) i just really wanted to tell someone about my new jewellery

I was sitting at a table with some of the Leafs, waiting for Fred to come back with another round. We were celebrating yet another Leafs win and I usually didn’t come out with the boys but I didn’t have work the next day and somehow, some of the boys had convinced me to come out. I was sitting between Mo and Mitch, talking about the next string of road games until Fred finally made his way back with some drinks. 

“Here you go babe.” He said, placing a drink for me down on the table before sitting down next to me. He joined in the conversation, throwing his arm around my shoulder. I leaned further into him, picking up my drink continuously as I tried to add into the conversation as much as I could. I started feeling more and more intoxicated as the night progressed, and I could tell Fred was watching me a little more as I finished another drink. 

“I’m just going to run to the washroom.” I whispered into Fred’s ear as I started getting up. 

“Just be careful.” He said, squeezing my hip as I walked away. I made my way to the washroom, weaving through the crowded dance floor full of absolutely beautiful women. Looking around, I started feeling a lot more self conscious. I quickly did my business and made my way back out. For some reason, I felt like I needed to get back to Freddie as soon as possible. Almost like if I didn’t get back to the table right now, I’d be loosing him. Almost in slow motion, my biggest fear was realized. A gorgeous woman was standing just behind Fred and had all of his attention. The way that he was looking at her was the same as he would look at me, at least to my drunk mind. I quickly walked over to the table to grab my purse and made my way towards the exit, ignoring all of the calls from the boys. I barely made it outside when I felt someone grab my wrist and I turned around to meet Freddie’s chest. “Did something happen in the bathroom?” He asked, looking at me with concern laced in his voice. 

“Nothing happened.” I spat, ripping my arm out of his grasp and walking towards the road, hoping a cab or something would drive by soon so I could get home. 

“Okay? Do you want me to get us an uber?” He asked, walking towards me.

“Why would you want to leave? That blonde in there seemed really interested, as did you.” I said, annoyance obvious in my voice. 

“Okay woah. Where is this coming from?” 

“Why should that matter? You obviously want to stay so go on back in.” I said before turning around, seeing some sort of headlights coming down the road. When I did, I saw a yellow cab coming down the street, slowing down as I held my arm up. When the cab finally pulled over, I walked over and slid into the back, not yet realizing that Freddie was right behind me until he pushed me over slightly so that he could get in as well. “What are you doing?” I asked after he had told the cab driver the address to our place.

“I’m going home with my girlfriend, because we need to talk.” He said, a serious tone. As we sat in silence, I felt like I was in trouble. Like my parents had just scolded me for something stupid, but to me, this wasn’t stupid. I felt like complete and utter trash compared to those girls in the club and that he deserved better. He deserved someone who wasn’t a complete fuck up. Someone who could go out with him on a Saturday night instead of being in bed by ten because of work the next day. As all these thoughts were swirling through my mind, Fred was just sitting there, trying to figure me out. Scared to even touch me just in case I break. When we finally got back to our place, I quickly got out of the cab, passing the man a random bill and not waiting for any change. When I got to the door, I fished through my bag, trying to find my key but was stopped by Fred placing his hand over mine and slowly unlocked the door, leading me in with his hand on the small of my back. We sat down on the living room couch, sitting face to face. 

“I’m sorry.” I started, already feeling tears well up in my eyes. I quickly looked down at the couch, not wanting to face him quite yet as I played with the ring on my finger. As I twirled the ring around my finger, I thought about the exact day he had given it to me.

No it wasn’t an engagement ring, but it might as well had been. It was our third year anniversary and like it had been the previous year, Fred was on a road trip and we couldn’t have dinner that night, but almost like clockwork, at exactly ten o’clock, there was a knock at the door. I was already in my pajamas, just having finished up a short call with the Dane not long before, as I made my way towards the door. Matt, one of our mutual friends, was standing just outside with a small bag in his hand and a large bouquet of flowers in the other. 

“For you... Obviously not from me, I’m just the delivery man. Also, happy anniversary.” He said, passing me the gift before making his way out. I slowly closed the door and walked over to the kitchen, placing the flowers in a vase before opening the bag slightly to reveal a small white card. I opened the card, seeing Fred’s writing littered over the small card.

I’m am so sorry that I can’t be home for yet another anniversary but I thought that I could at least have something delivered to you. I know that you aren’t the most into jewelery and you hate me spending any money on you but I saw this the last time I was home and I immediately thought of you. Coming back to reality, I knew he deserved some sort of explanation. He knew I just needed a little time, especially with all the alcohol in my system. 

“I uh.” I started. “When I was going to the washroom, I just realized that I don’t deserve you and when I saw that girl talking to you... My mind started running wild thinking about how much happier you with be with someone like that. Someone who isn’t tired all the time, who can spend more time with you when you’re home.” I said, airing out all of my insecurities that had come to light tonight. When I looked back, I could see him start to stutter out a response.

“Baby, you sound crazy right now. It’s me who doesn’t deserve you. You are one of the hardest working people I know and if anything, it’s a turn on. I don’t want someone there at my beck and call. I need someone like you to put me in my place when I’m acting crazy too.” 

By the time he had ended, tears were streaming down my face. I could hear him chuckle slightly before feeling his thumb wipe some of the tears from my eyes. He stood up before sliding his arms under me, picking me up and carrying me to our bedroom. He lightly laid me down on the bed before walking over to our closet and coming back out with my favourite pair of pajama pants and one of his signature black t-shirts. As I was blubbering like an idiot, he helped me change into the clothes he had brought out before quickly stripping down to his boxers and pulling my into him, rubbing my back and playing with my hair to try and calm me down. My shaking started to die down as I realized how important this man is to me.

I hate to be the Gus Portokalos (yes, the patriarch of My Big Fat Greek Wedding) of the jewelry world, but the word “crystal” does come from the Greek word “crystalos,” meaning ice. And the ancient Greeks believed the stone known as rock crystal, or clear quartz, was water that had been frozen for eternity. There is something comforting about the strength that implies, isn’t there?

Jewelers like Cartier and Van Cleef and Boivin and Belperron made rock crystal part of Art Deco’s signature palette, alongside black onyx and platinum and diamonds. Gloria Swanson’s famous Cartier Deco cuffs are a strong example, as is that Belperron for Boivin rock crystal and hematite bracelet that was sold a few months ago at Christies. The material’s grip on jewelers’ imaginations remains strong. “I am obsessed with rock quartz,” says Hanut Singh. “My home is dotted with them, as totems, as objets and it is such joy to use them in my jewelry designs as well. I feel truly elated working with them.”

Is the inclination towards this stone aesthetic or spiritual? “We all know how spiritually they have been used in healing for millennia,” says Singh. “The clear rock quartz, that helps us attune to our high selves, that aids intuition and focus and that soothes and heals, also in our Hindu culture has been used to make Idols. Our mightiest deities, of which we have many are made in crystal and dotted with gems. Our prayer beads, which we use to do ‘jap,’ or pray and meditate with, are also made in crystal. The immensity of its uses is varied and talismanic. But the joy of seeing them as bijoux is electric. The glamour of it all. The sheer clarity and drama of it all! The major houses in the 20’s onwards were using it as objet d’art and jewels. Cartier really excelled at it. Even until the late 1950’s Belperron was doing her magic with crystal. Hi Fred Thanks for getting back to me. It certainly looks like a Silver Barber Dime. However, one odd thing I noted. On the reverse of the coin with the floral design, and engraved initials, it does not say 'One Dime.' Without the person's initials the centre of the coin would just be totally blank. Is it possible a skilled person could have erased the 'one dime' inscription' on the reverse of the coin to make one for someone's initials? Also when you turn the coin over from the face side, the floral design is upside down. This has left me wondering if this is a 'fake dime' made as jewellery?

The modification of coins to form items of jewelery and love tokens has been going on for ever, just think of all those pierced Roman coins and modified groats that you dig up! It really seems to have taken off from Victorian times onwards and some people seem to have become extremely skilled at it. I forgot to mention that another very common way that pierced coins were worn was on watch chains.
