im so in love with ddlg azriel, i was wondering if i could please request one where reader is fed up with work (me fr) and it stresses her out. she just wants to stay at home and bake and do cute stuff and live life (me fr) and she tells azriel this, she tells him she doesn’t even care ab money she wants a break from her horrible boss. he says he’ll take care of her, he already does, her own money is her own, even though azriel provides literally everything in her life. So they decide she’ll quit and do what pleases her instead. Maybe volunteer at the library in the house of wind with the priestesses. She looks so much more happy and azriels heart swells with love. 🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️ pls
Done With Work
Azriel x reader
A/n: me too anon 😫 like what do you mean I have to work for the rest of my life?! I’m sick of it now 😭
I see this as the story for first few points in this headcanon
Warnings: ddlg, daddy kink, not proof read sorry lol
Tumblr media
Your whole body felt heavy as you dragged yourself up the stairs to Azriel’s office. Without knocking you push the door open, giving your mate a tired look. “Y/n, what’s wrong my love?” You drop your bag and wordlessly walk over to him, plopping yourself on his lap and burying your face in his neck.
Breathing in his scent of night-chilled mist and cedar calmed you. Azriel brought his hand to rub up and down your spine. “I’m so sick of working Az.” You mumble. He adjusts you so your head rests on his chest and he can hear you clearly.
“Did something happen today?” You shrug lazily. “It’s just so draining. And I’ve worked all my life, I just want to do something for myself. I feel like I have no free time. And I’m just done.” Azriel hugged you tighter. “I want to quit Az. I need a break from terrible people. I have money so you don’t-“
Azriel cups your face cutting you off. He moves you so you’re looking up at him. “You are going to quit because I hate seeing you like this. You’re my mate and I want to keep you happy and comfortable. And don’t you dare bring up money. What you have is yours, let me take care of everything.”
Tears escaped your eyes as you smiled up at Azriel. “Thank you, my love.”
The next day you went in to work to quit. Your bosses look of shock brought you so much joy. You practically skipped out of the building and all the way home to Azriel. He swears he’d never seen you this happy about something so small.
From that day on Azriel told you to do whatever your heart desired. So you took your time getting into your new routine. First thing was to catch up on your sleep. Your sleep schedule was atrocious so you spent the first two weeks sleeping in.
Then you finally got around to decorating and rearranging the house the way you wanted. Azriel’s heart soared when he came home after a quick mission. The house felt warmer with you in the center of it.
You took your time exploring Velaris. Visiting a new part of the city everyday. Of course you spent most of your time in the Rainbow and had taken a liking to staying at Feyre’s studio some days.
You spent more time with Feyre and Elain. You helped Gwyn in the library and even started going to training in the morning. And when Nesta had time you two would read together. You started going out with Mor and Feyre a few nights a week too. Azriel felt like he was watching you, his beautiful and wonderful mate, come back to life again.
What you loved most about your new life style was the care and attention you got from Azriel. Not that you didn’t get it before. But now you have time to really enjoy it.
Everything he did for you put you back together. From spa days to simple lazy mornings in bed he made sure that you were happy and cared for. After the conversation about your relationship you were both insanely happy.
Azriel loved taking care of you, and with this new dynamic and nicknames it all just felt right. He felt like you could truly be open with him.
Your happiness really hit him on a day where you slept in and he made breakfast. Az wanted to bring you breakfast in bed but you got up before it was ready. His shadows altered him to your presence. Turning, he saw you rub your eyes with a smile. You looked so cute in just his t-shirt and panties.
“Good morning princess.” “Morning daddy.” You pad over to him, standing on your tiptoes you plant a kiss on his cheek. “Breakfast smells delicious. Did you make coffee?” “I did.” You let out a small happy sound and filled up two mugs bringing them over to the kitchen table.
You sit waiting for Az to bring your plates over. When Azriel finally sits you’re adding an obscene amount of sugar to your coffee. Azriel takes the spoon from your hand, “That’s enough princess or your teeth will rot.” You let out a huff and pick the syrup up to drown your pancakes in them.
“What can I say, I have a sweet tooth.” You let out a small giggle at Azriel’s fake stern face. Quicker than you can comprehend Azriel tickles your sides and you let out a scream of laughter. “Daddy stop, I can’t, aahhh!” Azriel pulls you onto his lap leaving small kisses all over your face as you continue to giggle.
Once you calmed down you snuggled into Azriel, wrapping your arms around his neck tightly. “I love you so much daddy.” Az hugged you back equally as tight, “I love you too so much princess.” You lean back smiling up at him. You peck his nose quickly and cup his face in your hands. “Thank you. For everything. I’m just, I’m so happy.”
Azriel felt tears from behind his eyes. He could feel your happiness radiating down the bond. That made him feel like the luckiest male in the world. The two of you loved each other and he has the best mate. “You never have to thank me princess. I told you, it’s my job.”
He turns you to face the table and lets you get comfortable as he pulls your plate over. “What do you want first.” “Hhmm…bacon!” Azriel took a strip of bacon from your plate holding it up to your mouth. Taking a bite you let out a satisfied hum. He kissed the back of your head as he began to cut up your pancakes.
If there was a moment you could live in with Azriel forever, it would be this one. You both had nothing to do today. He was feeding you. And he was holding you close, making you feel more loved than you had in your entire life.

I'm so curious as to what your thoughts are on acomaf/Rhys. Personally, the reason the second book infuriated me was bc SJM completely shifted Tamlin's good traits onto Rhys, while erasing the fucked up things the latter did (like breaking Feyre's arm 😅), and thus clumsily erasing chances for interesting complex grey-morality characterizations for both characters. Also Feyre forgot about Tamlin so fast it almost made the first book seem useless lol. idk, I just liked Tamlin and feel he was done dirty with the weird lib-feminist makeover acomaf got. I did continue reading the series though. I'm not trying to make you uncomfortable speaking about this, so feel free to ignore this ask. Have a lovely day 💖
Phew! So my issues with the series are NUMEROUS and some day I will go into all the reasons I quit ACOMAF 3/4 of the way through, but for now, let me sum up my problem by comparing it to another modern phenomenon: Frozen.
Like ACOTAR, I have many specific dislikes about the Frozen series, but my main problem with it is the way it cynically uses fairy tale motifs against the audience, but then still wants to claim it is a fairy tale. Frozen's setup gives the audience absolutely zero reason to doubt or distrust Hans (other than the arrival of Kristoff). In fact, Hans and Anna have one of the best insta-love songs from the Disney collection, and it galls me TO NO END that it's a trick, a lie. And then the rest of the movie repeatedly mocks the audience for believing in fairy tale love ("You can't marry a man you just met!"), as if to say everyone who has enjoyed Disney fairy tales up to this point is a sucker. Yet then it expects us to invest in the Anna-Kristoff romance after punishing us for the Anna-Hans one. And meanwhile, Kristoff is about as interesting as stale bread (sorry not sorry, it's true. I love you Jonathan Groff, it's not your fault sweetie.).
So anyway, back to ACOTAR. Book 1 is a straightforward Search For The Lost Husband. Taken on its own, it honestly rules as an example of this Cupid & Psyche tale type. It has the hunter-huntress motif, the jealous sisters, passage into the otherworld, hidden/cursed prince, supernatural helpers, three trials in the underworld, and even resurrection from death. It's literally perfect, other than Rhys marking her and just generally being creepy.
And then the next book PUNISHES the reader for enjoying that. HAHA you fool, you sucker, you got taken in by an abuser! Actually that whole book was a f*cking waste of time and a lie, and what Feyre really needs is this dude who's secretly perfect and who has all the aesthetics of a tormented prince but none of the actual psychological damage (like, say, Tamlin had). And who pursued Feyre not because of any natural affinity but because he knew she was his predetermined MATE (ew ew ew and I repeat EW). And who dictates every f*cking plot point and then magnanimously gives Feyre the OPTION of participating and we're all supposed to cheer because he says "It's your choice" before repeatedly using her and endangering her.
And to the extent that this is another Search For The Lost Husband, why would I want the same story told again, especially when the narrative wasted my time and mocked me for investing in the last romance? I just... really resent the author using those motifs without signaling sooner that she's going to deliberately undermine them (which can be done, in fairness, but it takes more skill than SJM has displayed).
So yeah, that's my issue. It really seems to come from this faux feminism that has a lot of antipathy toward traditional fairy tales, but doesn't know how to critique them without mocking the protagonist and audience alike.

@ 💥 anon: you're the sweetest! thank you so much for your kind response! for context: essentially anon was asking abt the last nesta post i just made, not to give too much away lol but in short: they are vaguely anti nesta and would just like my opinion and they were literally the kindes and i appreciate that!
i definitely can understand where your frustrations lie, and I've always said that if a character reminds u of something unsavory, that is enough to want to do away with the character. its not anyone's place to argue someone's experience and how it informs their reading into a character. so i read that, and i respect your opinion in regard to that.
and my argument - as you can see through my page or if u followed me on m last blog - has always been the problem with abuse. i don't really believe the story commits to what it wants abt nesta: does it thinks she's abusive? broken? how does the book want to contextualize her behaviors? it just doesn't know what it wants. i have several theories for this: (1) tamlin/rhys as an abusive allegory fails. the story shoots itself in the foot with how it wants to root out, punish or categorize abuse. how much does intention and trauma factor into how we respond to abuse? what is the function of trauma in relation to abuse. like for rhys - the story could have easily positioned him as someone who has to learn rather than someone who is already knowledgeable of 'human' ideals of power and control. it also doesn't know how to inform rhysand's actions without justifying them. we know why rhys does things, but that doesn't mean that (1) it's a good enough excuse for characters in world and (2) that it doesn't still say something abt him. (3) that readers will come away with opinions that match what they're told. hence the idea of a grey character. their actions are debatable.
and this just bleeds into all other characters, especially characters positioned as more 'grey'.
in my opinion, the story would have worked better if it honestly and consistently stuck with nesta as a abusive person. the story has nesta go on these 'redemptive' journies and it doesn't even want to commit to a reason as to what she needs to redeem herself for. the story is too moral for its own good. and i think characters like rhys, nesta, and feyre suffer for it. like SF spends so much time running in circles trying to avoid why it even exists. it won't let feyre be part of the process, it won't let the sisters have a conversation, it won't root out the issue at hand, so it gives these placeholders such as the valkyries and the training to avoid having to address the mess of character dynamics.
like intention and goodwill don't negate abuse. objectively these actions are just abusive all the way around, but then the story doesn't commit to a framework so we get these placeholder arguments like : "rhys abused feyre for her personal gain, and tamlin and nesta abused her for their own selfish reasons." that is an arbitrary framework to measure abuse - its subjective. and its easily manipulated in arguments.
and if a character like feyre wants revenge - the story should just have her do that and let the reader come away with what they think that means for her character. objectively - it would be abusive, but if the story isn't operating in a moral sandwich and allows characters to make decisions based on their own personal goals, then it wouldn't really be a problem.
but the story doesn't do that and so it keeps replicating the same environments of abuse, and it doesn't see a problem bc it has established nesta as bad. and bad means she can't be a victim in any capacity,
and then we get arguments like the one i was addressing in my initial post that almost can't acknowledge that cassian is abusive to nesta bc it wants to believe that nesta's power in one dynamic equals to power in another. or -- we've created this conundrum of arguments that can't truly be addressed bc the underlying problem will be much more apparent. if cassian is abusive, then rhys is, and so on.
i think you'll find that we agree on much more than u think anon, i just think people have isolated themselves into corners of the fandom and have created these ideas that acknowledgement of one thing negates another. we can argue that nesta abused feyre, but we can also argue that nesta was a victim of cassian and of rhys.
like cassian's actions towards nesta are just abusive. and the story just passively allows it to happen bc it (1) believes violence and sa are conduits of redemption (e.g. rhys, lucien) and (2) it doesn't know what issues to address so it just has cassian 'punish nesta' without acknowledging why or the sheer disadvantage: nesta has no money, no friends, not home, no close family, no one but him. nothing but the close he has her wear, the food her has her eat. nesta has to make her own friend before she can even begin to heal. there is no power for her there, and there is no such thing as 'mutual abuse' cassian is just often angry at nesta bc the story thinks he should be angry. and it makes his abuse all the more scary. we get these arguments that are like 'cass would never' and then we get the hike scene and i think 'wouldn't he?" he can fly out of there, he can brave the steps, he has a job that pays him more than he will ever need, he can fuck and drink his depression away, he can walk away. nesta cannot. and that's abuse.
to conclude, this doesn't have to be a moral argument, but it so often becomes one bc the story only solves one abusive situation by altering the framework of abuse as it sees fit. i respect your opinion and i really appreciate your message it was genuinely nice and open and i wish there were other people like u who can hate a character but sustain the integrity of your argument. and i am happy u saw that cass was abusive even when u hate nesta. that's really the important part! thank you for your vulnerability❤️

Azriel x Reader | Renewal
Chapter Two
Azriel x Female Reader
Based on this ask:
“My brain literally will not shut up about reader from our world who is actually the reincarnation of Rhy’s sister (and Az’s mate duh)but NONE of them realize it until she dies/gets put into the cauldron and is brought back as high fae”
THANK YOU again for all the support! Sorry this part took forever, all this exposition is hard to write when I just wanna get to the good stuff lol Enjoy!!
Chapter one:
——————————————————————————
Y/N
You thanked the waiter as he set down your glass of lemonade and glanced at your watch, 12:47, you should’ve known, Cora was late to everything. You looked back at the menu trying to decide between a salad and a sandwich when Cora dropped herself into the seat across from you with a sigh.
“I know, I know, I’m late” she began “but to be fair, I had to wait for the subway because that guy who smells like feet and sits way too close to any woman he spots was on there and I was NOT dealing with that today.”
“I’ll accept that” you said with a laugh.
“Soooo” Cora began as she wrapped her braids up into a bun “how was your date last night?”
“Ugh,” you rolled your eyes
“That bad?” Cora asked, eyebrows raised.
“Horrible.” You began, “he forgot to take off his wedding ring.”
“What an ass! Men are literally the worst.” Cora said, scrunching her face up in disgust.
“Tell me about it, I’m so over dating. I’ve accepted that I’ll never have sex again” You say, taking a sip of your lemonade.
“Maybe if you could hookup without getting emotionally invested it’d work out better for you.” Your friend laughed.
The waiter came over to take your order, you could hear yourself talking, but things started to go out of focus and eventually the whole restaurant faded from view.
You opened your eyes with a gasp. A dream. It was a dream. But it felt so real. Was it a memory?
You pushed the blankets off and swung your feet onto the floor. You went to the bathroom and braided back your hair before choosing some comfortable clothes to wear. You couldn’t stop replaying the dream, trying to see if there was anything that stood out enough to spark more memories, if it even was a memory.
You planned to meet with Rhysand and His second in command this morning. The High Lord had said Amren was good with spells and might be able to dig up something to trigger your memory. You’d have to ask her opinion on your dream.
You heard voices as you headed downstairs. There were paintings hanging along the wall you wanted to admire, but didn’t want to keep the fae waiting, so you continued on, making a mental note to come back and look at them later.
You walked down the hall to an open door and took a deep breath before walking into the room. The female you assumed was Amren stood across the room, between the fireplace and window. Two dark green plush chairs were placed in front of the hearth, the High Lord occupied one, dressed impeccably in a black suit, one leg propped up on the other, an easy smile on his face.
“Good morning, I hope you slept well.” He said as you entered. He gestured for you to take the other seat.
You sat a little nervously, feeling Amren’s eyes on you.
“This is Amren, my second in command.” Rhysand gestured to the female.
“I’m Y/N” you said with a slight smile.
“Oh I know all about you” Amren replied with a slightly unnerving smile. You swallowed thickly and looked to Rhysand. Amusement swam in his blue eyes, eyes you only now realized were strikingly similar to your own.
“I had a dream.” You told him.
He rose one eyebrow, his mouth slightly curving up at the sides.
“I mean, it may have been a memory” you quickly added, glancing at Amren who’s face revealed no emotion.
“Can I see?” Rhysand asked you. You nodded hesitantly, remembering what he told you the day before about his and Feyre’s powers to communicate with their minds. A shiver went down your spine as you felt him enter your brain. It wasn’t unpleasant necessarily, but your thoughts became harder to control. You felt yourself thinking of your dream, recalling the images and words.
Once he’d seen it all, Rhysand eased off and sighed.
“I’ve seen enough dreams and memories over the years to know it wasn’t just a dream.” He stated, glancing at Amren. “And it confirms what we already believed, you’re not of this realm.”
You had of course already suspected this, but hearing how certain Rhysand was made your stomach drop.
“I believe you’re here for a reason. We’ve checked with the other courts around Prythian and no one else has had an unexpected visitor. There must be a reason you’re here, not only in this realm, but in this court.”
“Normally I wouldn’t believe in this being an act of fate,” Amren began, “but your eyes lead me to believe otherwise.”
You looked again to Rhysand, his eyes unnervingly similar to yours.
“I’ve only known three other people to have this specific eye color,” he said, leaning forward on his elbows, “my son, who inherited them from me, my mother, and my sister. Both of whom have been dead for centuries.” Rhysand’s face flashed with a brief flicker of pain, and you noted that it must’ve been an unexpected death for them both. You furrowed your brows in confusion, “what do you think it means?” You glanced between the two, unsure what they could be alluding to.
Rhysand sighed, “we don’t know. Maybe you’re from the same lineage as me, just in an alternate reality? Maybe you’re your realm’s equivalent of me? Maybe it’s just a common eye color in your world. Honestly we don’t have much to go off of.” This was all so confusing, something was a hint, but didn’t give any information? At your frown Rhysand spoke again “It’s a great lead that you were able to dream a memory though, this means they’re still buried in your subconscious. Amren can look for a way to pull them out, and Feyre and I can help you strengthen your mind. Maybe focusing on sharpening your brain will push some more memories to the surface.”
Azriel
Y/N laughed at something Mor said as she browsed the items in Mor’s favorite boutique in downtown Velaris. Damn that laugh, it was too distracting. He’d agreed to go shopping with them for honorable reasons, Rhys had asked him to keep an eye on her. They still didn’t know much about Y/N, and while the High Lord seemed to trust her, there was no telling when her memories would come back, and what that would lead to. He was normally so focused, catching little details and storing information was what he was good at, but there was something about this woman that made it hard to focus on anything but the way she smiled, and how her laugh sounded.
He followed behind Y/N and Mor as they headed back to the river house, trying to listen in on their conversation without getting distracted.
“So how’d it go with Rhys and Amren this morning?” Mor asked her as she linked their arms together.
“Fine, I guess.” Y/N replied, sighing a bit. “We still don’t know much, Amren has some theories she’s going to look into, and Rhysand wants to help me sharpen my mind. He thinks I may have some kind of mental block that won’t allow me to access my memories.”
Mor frowned, “I suppose that would make sense. Maybe you suffered some kind of trauma? What do you think, Az?”
They both turned to look at him, and for a moment his eyes caught Y/N’s and he forgot how to breathe, then she blushed and looked away and he regained control.
“I don’t know,” he began, “it’s nothing I’ve seen before. But if anyone can figure it out, it’s Rhys and Amren. Between the two of them they have enough knowledge and resources to help.” Y/N gave a small nod at that, and his heart swelled a bit in thinking that he had made her feel better, even if it was the tiniest bit. Cauldron, he couldn’t be developing feelings for her. He knew nothing about her! She was just a human woman who needed their help. Sure she was painfully beautiful, but he should be able to control himself. He was halfway through his fifth century, a crush wasn’t going to keep him from focusing on his job.
Y/N
Feyre found you before dinner and started teaching you how to fortify your mind. She’d explained it like building a wall, a wall so thick and solid no one could penetrate it, and inside that wall was you. Your thoughts, feelings, memories, everything.
You were concentrating on placing yourself behind that wall when you felt Feyre’s presence approach you. You squeezed your eyes shut tighter and tried to focus on keeping her out. You knew she wasn’t pushing as hard as she could, and nothing about what she was doing was painful, but you were determined not to let her in.
“Good, Y/N” Feyre praised as she slid up to the wall. “Your foundation is good, but there are still some gaps that could be easily exploited” she explained as you felt her gently push her way into your mind.
“Ugh” you sighed and opened your eyes. “This is so much harder than I thought it’d be.”
“You’re doing great!” Feyre said with a smile. You shot her a small glare, she was being too kind.
“Really!” She said, “it’s only your first try and you’ve built a pretty solid wall already. It’s hard to do, but with more practice you’ll get better. Now stop pouting and let’s go eat.”
You followed her out of the room to the dining hall, your stomach grumbling after exerting all that energy trying to keep the High Lady out of your mind.
Dinner was mostly uneventful, it was only you, Feyre, Rhys, Nyx, and Mor, and as much as you hated to admit it, you were sad Azriel hadn’t joined. He hadn’t said much on your outing with Mor that afternoon, but something about being in his presence was calming.
After dinner you took a long hot bath and threw on one of the night dresses Mor had bought you earlier. It was a bit skimpier than you liked, but the material was soft and comfortable. You tried to rest, but sleep wouldn’t claim you, so you grabbed a long, silk robe in the most beautiful shade of blue, also purchased by Mor, and headed downstairs.
You thought about stopping to admire the paintings you’d seen earlier, but it was too dark to see them properly and you didn’t want to wake anyone by turning on any fae lights.
You eventually found yourself in the library and figured you might as well settle in there for a while.
You’d been so engrossed in your reading you didn’t notice anyone else had entered until a fae light flicked on by the door. You jumped a bit, but immediately relaxed when you turned to see it was Azriel who had come inside.
“You’re up late.” He said as he came to sit in the chair across the table from you.
“I couldn’t sleep,” you started “so I figured I’d come learn as much as I could about this realm, see if anything sparked a memory.”
Azriel stared at you, then at the books spread across the table, all detailing histories of Prythian. You could never tell what he was thinking. His face was neutral but you could tell his mind was working, trying to calculate something. It was clear he didn’t trust you. You blushed a bit at that thought, annoyed by how upset it made you, when one of his shadows reached across the table and glided across your hand. You gasped as you watched it retreat back to its master. You’d been told of Azriel’s unique abilities, but this was the first time you’d seen the shadows at work. They were beautiful, like sentient smoke blending in with the darkness in the room around you.
You looked up to find Azriel watching you, yet again, and realized something. This wasn’t the first time you’d seen those shadows, he’d been watching you.
“I’m not a threat, you know.” You said to him, angry he’d felt the need to take away your privacy by constantly watching you.
His eyebrows shot up, and he looked almost amused, which of course only made you angrier. “You realize saying that unprompted only makes you seem guilty, right?” He asked you.
You felt your face flush and crossed your arms in anger. “I can barely remember who I am, I’m not here to hurt anyone. Besides, I’m a human in a house filled with powerful fae, I couldn’t do anything even if I tried.”
“I know that.” Azriel replied, his face staying aggravatingly neutral.
“Then call of your little shadows and stop watching me in my private rooms! It’s creepy!”
He smirked at that and you let out a grunt of frustration, you were trying to be serious and all he could do was laugh at you.
“It’s my job to watch people” he said with that stupid smirk on his face.
“Well just, tone it down, would you?” You asked, exasperated with the whole conversation.
“Deal.” He said, his face going back to neutral.
“Good.” You said as you stood up and left the library. He was so frustrating, constantly glaring at you and judging your every move, and now he was laughing at you? He may be crazy attractive, but he was kind of an ass, and you were determined to be done drooling over him.
You threw yourself into bed, swearing you were done thinking about him.

SJM Could’ve Made El*cien Endgame Very Easily. (But She Did Not)
Even though we haven’t gotten Elain’s book yet I honestly feel if SJM really wanted El*cien to be endgame there would’ve some sort of build up. Not huge declarations of love but some cute moments building their ship and things readers will be able to look back on and be like awh. I find very it hard to believe that Elain and L*cien will do a whole 180 in the next book. Going from “not being able to spend two minutes in the same room together” to loving each other forever and possibly moving to the Day Court together. Highly unlikely, especially being mated for at least two years now and absolutely no progress whatsoever. Even just casual interactions these two cannot handle. So here are moments where SJM could’ve written El*cien but chose not to:
First off, L*cien could’ve been the one to figure out what was wrong with Elain, I mean it was right there. Madja said your mate is the best bet, and he did get to the end of the bond thread but she ran off before he could feel anything and Instead Azriel figures it out. (Also why did SJM make L*cien stumble over his words and have no clue then Azriel without looking at him figures it out immediately. Why was it written like that? )
Secondly Elain asks if he could hear her heart because she hears his, and L*cien says No. SJM could’ve had him said something like with vision/ his magical eye or just with the bond like “I feel it beating” ah I know they’re not fully mated yet but the thread is still there, a bridge connecting their souls. But instead “Azriel alone had listened to her. The male who heard things others could not.” I definitely think that’s weird to write after L*cien couldn’t hear her heart. (Also what if Az could hear her heart or what if Elain is actually hearing his?)
Another thing I’d like to talk about is what I find key moments to building a relationship. Again not huge declarations but the little things, the baby steps. Like after L*cien talks to Elain, he tells Feyre to “Take her to some garden” and literally right after Azriel invites Elain to the garden. How can that be a coincidence? Why couldn’t L*cien do that? He thought about it but Az was the one to do it. And with the Solstice, Elain was talking all about her garden plans at 3AM to Azriel, why didn’t SJM make that L*cien? He probably even could’ve told her all about how pretty the Autumn Court is with the colors and possibility gave her some inspiration. But instead SJM chose to make every interaction awkward and wary, there is no comfort between El*cien.
Next focusing on L*cien’s eye, The Cauldron gave Elain the power of Seer and a mate with a magical eye. Wouldn’t that be something to bond over? Or at least talk about. Maybe Elain asking what he can see with the eye? I don’t know, but it’s definitely weird how the two are never even compared, yet Elain being the one who sees and Az is who hears sorta is.
Now in ACOWAR, L*cien really wasn’t around once things started to get serious, even though he was on business it’s hard to think a mate not being there during the most dangerous of times. And that brings up a lot of questions, did he feel anything through the bond when Elain got lured by The Cauldron? Again I know they’re not fully mated but wouldn’t he feel something weird? Something not right. And I am probably over estimating his eye but it could’ve been so easy for SJM to write like him seeing something amiss when Elain was lured/ at the war camp and bringing it up when he got back. (Sorta thinking of the Eye on Feyre’s hand with her bargain with Rhys but not exactly.)
(And coincidentally in his absence there was a lot of Elriel moments. Azriel was the one to notice Elain missing, him ignoring Nesta’s snarl of warning and kneeling at her empty cot. The famous “I’m getting her back” *compared to get her back lol*. The kiss on the cheek. The TRUTH TELLER scene. Also honorable mention Azriel’s WRATHFUL stare when Elain got taken.)
Next Solstice presents. L*cien could’ve done so much better!! Ok I know he doesn’t go to the Autumn Court that much, but we saw his journey with Feyre going through it and how beautiful it was described, Why couldnt he maybe give her a special plant or native flower seeds to that area?Or like even something from the Mortal Lands knowing Elain was mourning her old life. Like a wood carving that would remind her of her father. But instead Az picks out the perfect gift for her and most mates go for jewelry. Why did SJM do that?
Now I feel like L*cien has definitely lost himself and where he belongs. I feel this could’ve been the perfect opportunity to find where he belongs with Elain. She is described as light, and really could’ve been the light at the end of the tunnel. Like L*cien’s final destination. And he even admits he found Velaris beautiful and thought Feyre’s newfound family would be like with Tamlin at the Spring Court. But instead of hanging around in ACOWAR and ACOSF, SJM sends him off and shows him as being very comfortable with Jurian and Vassa in the Mortal Lands and choosing to live with them as friends. Again there is absolutely no sense of comfort with Elain. And at the end of ACOWAR she even invites L*cien to the Night Court but when he shows up at the Solstice in ACOFAS and ACOSF she is very uncomfortable and wasn’t even the one who invited him there. Why did SJM do that? And more so why did Elain go out of her way to give Az a specialty made gift to fix a problem he’s never voiced, but she still noticed. And no gift for L*cien at all.
Also I would like to note the shifts in Elain. For someone who is described as light these instances raises some questions “Elain stepping out of the shadows.” & “Elain’s potato steam like Az’s shadows.” Wouldn’t you think SJM would find a way to compare her to fire not shadow? I mean we already have the light so it’s right there. Also coincidentally Elains bff’s happen to be Az’s spies and literally half shadow wraiths. (And idk I kinda laugh at the potato one, like it’s so random to make that comparison.)
And then the Bird of Flame. It’s obvious Vassa is similar to Jesminda. And L*cien just happens to point out how Elain isn’t like her at all. SJM could’ve made L*cien like how Elain is different and the opposite but we dont really get that. What we get is Jesminda chosen him, Elain was thrown at him. Also it’s very weird every time he does see Elain, first wow she’s the prettiest woman in the world but then immediate oily queasy feeling ? That just doesn’t sound right. Then him saying he needs to know if Elain’s worth it or not doesn’t sound very good either. And like I mentioned up there someone whose compared to light all the time but not one mention of fire then here comes Bird of Flame. And even taking it a step further SJM writes “Lord of Fire and Bird of Flame” together and in turn we also get “Death and his lovely Fawn.” And as we found out in ACOWAR L*cien is Helion’s true son and heir to the Day Court. I know Vassa is human right now but I can’t help but think she’d really like it there!
Basically the whole point of this post is showing there is no El*cien build up whatsoever. Even little moments SJM could’ve added and chose not too. There will be nothing for the readers to look back whatsoever and it’s very hard to believe they’ll magically start to connect in Elain’s book after spending all this time being awkward and uncomfortable. But what we did get was consistent Elriel moments and mentions of Vassien being a good match as well. There is not one single moment that El*cien has that’s better than Elriel’s. Even when it would’ve been so easy for SJM to write it, she chose not too. And just for any Gw*nriel shippers out there: Most people are not in the fandom. When they pick up the books they will consistently see Elain and Az, it would be very random for Azriel to somehow make this great connection with Gw*n out of the blue after reading so many Elriel moments.

Hey!!! I’m curious to know, why don’t you like Bryce or CC? Personally the first book was better than the second book but overall, the series hasn’t been too bad (minus the whole crossover thing)
You want to ask me, on this our first day of elucienweek, why I hate Bryce and CC? ESPECIALLY when you admit you like them? Oof.
I mean, I'll share but I'm not interested in changing my opinion or like, softening this.
First of all, and I will die on this hill, Bryce is a fucking pick-me of the HIGHEST order. This is a problem with the narrative and not so much her, but if I wanted to read endless prose on how fucking hourglass, Kardashian hot a woman was, I could pick up a Branden Sanderson novel. EVERY SINGLE MAN has to simp for Bryce, including Ruhn who has a very uncomfortable passage in the first book where he is looking her up and down in her tight jeans. Bryce can't walk down the road without being sexually harassed and she seemingly likes it. Who's fantasy is that? What in the wattpad is that?
Second, every single man in the book is standing in a line behind Hunt to fuck Bryce. IDK what your experience with this is, but I have some personal experience with men pretending to be your friend so they can have a shot. It never reads as genuine but OF COURSE Bryce doesn't mind that they all openly and desperately want to fuck her. We're treated to thought after thought about her body, looking her up and down in a way that feels very "through the male gaze" and I was just over it 400 pages in. WE GET IT. Oh my GOD.
SJM loves to do this thing where she puts you in the POV of a character who has knowledge the reader should know and instead will use that POV to lie in order to create some big reveal. 500 pages looking for a missing child? LOL Bryce figured that out on page 26 and this whole side quest has been a massive, frustrating waste of time. Of course she did, she's so smart. She suffers from Aelin syndrome where she just keeps secrets from EVERYONE because, presumably, no one can be trusted? For ReAsOnS that made me want to slam the book to the ground.
Of course Bryce is also the main protag so we're told over and over she's smart and talented and whatever but OH MY GOD everything she does is STUPID AS SHIT. This was my issue with TOG. Aelin was the best assassin, according to the narrative but every time you saw her assassin-ing, she was pretty bad at it. Or how Cassian/Azriel are elite warriors but endlessly injured. Like, either make your characters NORMAL or make them REALLY badass. Bryce isn't particularly smart, she's impulsive and makes endless bad decisions and it's just fine.
The whole "we're better than the humans thing" was a choice. That whole plot, in book 2, where Bryce is just 'meh' and treats the rebellion like they're beneath her was a really bad look. Was it supposed to convey she's better than them? Because honestly, both books give off this supreme sense that Bryce thinks she is just better than everyone else and she does not need to treat the people around her well. She's shitty to Lebehah (or whatever her name was) and that creature literally DIED for, why? She's shitty to Ruhn who is endlessly going to bat for her, she was unnecessarily bratty with Hunt in book 1 when he was trying so hard to help her with Danika, like this is a pattern of behavior for Bryce.
And unlike Feyre and Aelin who like, grow and learn, Bryce gives off this aura of "I am fine as I am" girl you are easily the worst of the three. Like I get it, party girl roped into shenanigans but we are 1600+ pages into this story and Bryce is just stagnant and not particularly fun when you're trapped in her headspace. I read book 2 because twitter spoiled the ending and I knew I was going to have to read it in order to continue ACOTAR, but honestly if SJM wasn't doing this cursed crossover, I would have DNF'd.
And if you liked it, I'm not saying you're wrong for it or whatever. I know a lot of people prefer CC to ACOTAR and TOG. I think it suffers from all the same problems as SJMs other series but her protag isn't half as likable. Her side characters are. My love of Ruhn is decently known. Ultimately there are too many problems with the convoluted narrative that don't make it enjoyable for me.

okay i was reading through your blog and i saw this anon commenting on azriel in midnight muse and saying that they don't feel bad for him and that it's a "you made your bed now lie in it" situation but it really rubbed me the wrong way for some reason.
is azriel being petty and immature in the story? yes. is reader also being a little petty? yes. that's the trope. but besides that what i think everyone meant when they said they felt sorry for azriel is that he was completely ditched by his friends. regardless of the reason, if your friends know you're not comfortable in the same presence as someone else and then lie to you to get you to go hang out with that person then they're being bad friends. this is a story and the point of it is that they'll get together so it's kinda fine here but if in your own life your friends do this to you, no matter how petty or dumb the reason for not liking or wanting to be in another person's presence is, they're bad friends and straight up don't respect your boundaries. i think what the batboys should have done was just let him know she was going to be there and still invite him or even tell him that they really wish he would come if they wanted him to go and then he'd make that decision himself. same with being left behind at the end, obviously no one is obliged to their friend's time but it read as they usually spend that time together so azriel literally just assumed that was what they would be doing and it is sad to see him be left behind alone, maybe the anon that sent that never felt like that but it sucks to not be invited or even being told of your friends plans, being left out sucks and cassian barely gave him a goodbye or spared him a thought when he left. again, all they had to do was at least let him know. and what rhys tells him is true, they didn't give the girls a chance and should apologize but they don't have to be friends lol. the story is supposed to end up like that but if this was a real situation the only thing azriel is doing wrong is not apologize for the initial fight, he doesn't have any obligation to be reader's friend even if cass and rhys are. no one is obliged to be anyone's friend ever. and, again, it feels kinda shitty of rhys to basically tell him "either be alone or go put up with this person i know you don't like" to be able to spend time with them. honestly, i don't even think he was as sad at being alone but more that his friends just brushed him off like that. i don't know but it feels like lack of sympathy (that i unfortunately have had to deal way too often) to just say "well azriel was an asshole a couple times so he deserves for his friends to not respect his boundaries and leave him behind". also rhys is going more because he's trying to fuck feyre than bc he actually thinks they should apologize or get along with their neighbors. i swear im almost done but, unlike reader, we get an inside of azriel's mind and it's in absolute shambles. he just had something really traumatic happen to him 1 or 2 years ago and is still having a lot of trouble dealing with it, he had that dream of being a tattoo artist which he might have to give up on because of it. literally has to wear gloves and gets scared when someone grabs him from what is probably ptsd. so i dont know, i feel like he's allowed to have bad days and it's not like he's actually bullying her or anything, it's mostly a coupe of unpleasant conversations but they go both ways.
to finish, everyone in this story is doing things wrong in my opinion. aside from the initial moving and party thing which was pettiness all around. reader is probably the one less in the wrong but she also has a grudge against azriel based on first impression (which is the same one he has one her). azriel should have just moved the damn bike and shouldn't have been annoying when she got locked out either but he has no obligation to be her friend. rhys shouldn't have talked to azriel like that, yea az should apologize but he doesn't have to be friends w reader and feyre just because rhys wants to get in her pants. feyre is kind of doing the same thing with reader, she knows reader doesn't like rhys so she should have told her she liked him, that scene of her avoiding her gaze at the picnic.. come on. feyre also didnt tell reader that az was going to be at the picnic which again reader is not obliged or should be forced to hang out with someone she's uncomfortable with. and even cass isn't being at best in my opinion, he also didnt tell az reader would be at the picnic (or reader that az would) or that he'd be going to do whatever their plans were and (maybe im being a little petty for this) but going out of his way to be friends with fey and reader is fine for the story but if my bestfriend went to try to be friends with someone they know i dont like i'd be hurt and confused, with everyone in the world you seek out the person you know your friend doesn't like? it's a weird thing to do. i get the vibe that he didnt even consider this but considering your friends feelings i something you definitely should be doing.
also correct me if i'm wrong but i didn't think azriel was playing music loudly to annoy reader, i read it as he plays music loudly to drown out his thoughts and when he's drawing or whatever. which is still not a great thing to do when you know you have neighbors and he should invest in some noise cancelling headphones but it's not him being intentionally malicious.
I think the great thing about this is that we can look at it in so many different ways that more than one person can be correct about how they perceive what’s going on. Everyone is young and still learning how to navigate these relationships, and yeah, certain people might be approaching it all from the sense where they’re like, i want to date this person, of course i need to get along with their friends and i want them to get along with mine because i don’t want to sacrifice those relationships. Which is understandable as it is fucked up. Lust can be a bitch sometimes.
There’s many ways that this could have all gone and who is going to say what or what they’re not going to say. I’ll say this, I’ve been in circumstances where once someone is in a new relationship i’ve seen and been treated like shit because of it. They’ll drop you, lie to you, do anything basically because they’re like head over heels for the new person they’re seeing. They’ll beg you to hang out with them even though you don’t care for them because they want you to be a part of what’s going on and they want you to get along with that person. And yeah, i’ve hung out with people i haven’t liked before for a friend because i’m her friend and i should want to support her. Even if I didn't like the person, it was later a mutual choice not to hang together because I didn't care for him. It sucks sometimes, but it for sure happens.
Azriel has a lot of things going on in his head for him, the music does help him drown them out, but there have been some times where she’s pounded on the wall for him to be quiet and he’s made the music louder, so there’s a bit of both going on, but we can’t blame reader because she has no idea what’s going on in his life, nor does Az know what’s going on in hers. They’re just two people who had run into each other under the wrong circumstances, because initially we saw the reader think that he was a good looking guy, but his actions turned her off from him.
Yeah, everyone’s being a bit of a dick right now in their own ways and I'm sorry if that has upset you in any way. I thank you for bringing up your feelings as well because the different perspectives and how people are reacting to my work is very helpful to me, so thank you for sharing your thoughts! 💙💙

I would love to hear your thoughts on Silver Flames!
Buckle up babes long ass response coming in.
*this gets ranty and I'm sorry!!. Excuse any typos or errors. I don't have my glasses on lol.*
So my controversial hot take about acosf, is that thanks to fan works (headcanons, theories, fanfic, etc) we all get these notions in our heads of how characters should be. When in actual reality they're just not like that. Everyone believed Nesta would be this all powerful bad bitch lady death. When in truth she never wanted power. Ever. All she wanted was to make the Cauldron pay. She never wanted magic in the first place. Even when she had it. She didnt care for it. Didnt care for what it did and how it took her over. In the end losing her magic didn't really matter. It's not like Aelin who loved her fire and missed it when it was gone. Nesta felt like her magic was a burden. And was grateful it was gone. I do think fmcs who love their powers should keep not lose them. But when they don't want it. When it scares them, they don't care for it whatever the case maybe then they should lose it. Nesta just wants cake, books, and sex no suffering magic required honestly good for her.
The same can be said for Cassian. Thanks to all the fan works we all believed he'd go to bat (pun intended) for her against Rhys and the IC and it rarely happened. Whenever it did, it barely lasted. I was waiting when Rhys told him to get Nesta out of Velaris or he'd kill her. I was waiting for Cassian to do something. What'd he do? Force Nesta to go on hike. Sir that's your mate. DEFEND HER. Tell Rhys for her sake you will but the next he threatens Nesta over something he shouldn't hide from Feyre will be the last. Get Nesta out and talk with her. Don't be dick cause Rhys says so.
Speaking of Rhys. Alot of people were unhappy with how he was portrayed in acosf. I wasn't. Doesn't mean he didn't piss me off. But I think for Manu the rose colored glasses came off. Acotar- acofas we view Rhys through the Feyre lens. So yeah especially acomaf and acowar we see him in a loving, caring sense. In Feyres eyes once she falls for him Rhys can literally do no wrong. As readers we believe it. It's why so many fell for Tam in book 1. But now in acosf we get him. The real un mate side of Rhys. We see the High Lord version. We see him through Cassian and Nesta’s eyes and it's not the best look.
The other issue I've noticed with Acotar fans and the hate is how slow and lore based it is. Yes, I agree that there's some parts of the book that are. So. Fucking. Slow. I just wanted to those parts to be done with it. The other side, the lore. For readers looking for smut and a little plot acotar is great. You don't have to think to much on the world and the lore it's only a sprinkle to move the story along. Nothing like tog or cc. Now with the crossover we needed a book with all this information to make it fit and have it make sense. And acosf became that book. For anyone who wasn't anticipating a heavy book this was a huge surprise. And kind of a snoozefest. Even when I first read it I was so happy to have this information but given what he know of acotar why Is it needed? Then hosab came out and it made sense.
Personally, I didn't think it was bad. I enjoyed myself while reading. I was disappointed we didn't get all those bodily fluids that Sarah claimed we'd get. Yeah, there was a little, but idk she made it seem like a lot more.
The intervention in the beginning pissed me off. The only people that should've been there were Feyre, Elain, and maybe Cassian. I know as someone who cares about her and is her mate he should he but in the same breath the topic of Cassian is very touchy to Nesta in that moment. So I think where he's considered it's a eh thing. Rhys would be the only other exception because it's his money she's been spending. But he should stfu and let Feyre handle it.
I don't like Mor. She pissed me off entirely throughout the book. Same as Amren. I use to like Amren alot. But this book made me turn off of her. Despite all of the growing Nesta does the only way she accepts and forgives Nesta is when Nesta grovels and kisses her hand??? Fuck right off.
Generally I loved all the lore, loved/hated seeing Rhys from a different pov, adored Nesta’s journey even her giving up her magic. I loved seeing Nesta form her bonds with Gwyn, Emerie and Azriel. Just wished Cassian stepped it up in the defending Nesta Archeron department.
I honestly think what I love about it. People hated lmao.

ok this is so stupid but i really want to see neris and reader interactions,, like the small things, the comfort, the protectiveness,,,, ughh love what you've done w the story man, desperately waiting for the next part fr. (go on your own pace tho) glad to know i've shifted you a little bit on a azriel thing (devious smile) - ithink he's a good character for most people because he barely had a personality in the books and so we can usually make up stuff yk, like he's mostly just broody in the books and we're told stuff abt his personality but not shown it. can't wait to see what happens next! ohh also the dragon interactions!!! i wanna see those too!!! eris has hounds right,,, it wld be cute for them to protect nes and r tooo,,,, ahhh sorry this is literally just me ranting lol, obv feel free to ignore the reqs,,, i really want to let you know that your writing is good bc you seem to get less interactions than you should!! and a weird amt of hate lmao like whats w the people being rude about ialtpwf and wanting guys my age so badly, like i enjoyed it despite not particularly liking the daddy kink partbut like. really,, why so rude??? want to see how reader fares in front of beron too, i assume word of her power will reach him too/. anyway, how long are you planning on pushing the beron overthrowal thing (im being curious not being like ugh when are u plannign on ending it,, in case thats what it sounded like,, idk man im overthinking). oh also! want to see court relations with all of them after berons gone. before berons gone. all of it, i want them to be better leaders/people to the court people yk. oh!! also lucien-reader friendship!!! love that!! we havent seen much of it but hes def the kind of guy to tease r abt eris when they start actually flirting and getting near a relationship yk. eris-lucien brotherhood too tho, obviously. also the lady of the autumn court!! watching them bond w her!!! ahh jfoisfkjmdofikndfvg ium sorry have a great day today1!! hope you rest well after that long ass shift. oh yeah i agree w you on the feyre thing, she's def just mostly like a pawn to rhys yk, i think she was better as a char when she was w tamlin tbh, altho obviously i dont want her to be with someone who kind of abused her without any groveling at least/ cant wait to see more interactions fr!!!! oh when i said in the story, i meant the actual books, well and yourss but the actual books mainly! anyway i think you've managed to be realistic w all of them in a way that is good. bye! oh same anon as last time. should i give myself a name, is that fine,, i'll choose * anon. sure.
i can’t wait for you to see more of the neris x reader interactions! you’ll love it. i feel like i’ve done a decent job of their dynamic so i’m super proud of it so far.
Azriel’s journey is one i have planned out - it’s going to be complicated because yk he’s been loyal to rhys for 500 years and that’s not suddenly going to change, but he will continue to play a role.
you’ll see more of the dragons for sure! and the hounds will be involved too so fear not ;)
yeah idk why people got so weird about guys my age like i’m glad they enjoyed it of course but i kinda did everything i wanted to do with that fic so i don’t feel i have anything else to add to it if that makes sense
beron will play a bigger role soon! as far as them overthrowing him, prob within a couple chapters maybe a bit longer. im still playing around w the details of how exactly it’s going to happen
expect a LOT more lucien and lady of autumn in the later chapters! i love love love writing for lucien so i’ve got special stuff for him planned hehe
tons more interactions to come. more lucien, azriel, gwyn and emerie, cassian, etc. thank you for your message angel and NEVER apologize for rambling - nobody has taken the time to say this much about my fic so far in one go so i LOVE reading these. send as many as you want <3

i am writing my first ever fic and it's Eris Vanserra×Female OC.
here's a breakdown of well how this fic came about. so like any other readers, you tend to switch up of how the stories goes because like you can. it's reading, it's your own imagination. you add different universe plot to another universe plot. Therefore, it started when i was thinking about tamlin finally getting his shit together when 3 mysterious girls fell into his life. like literally fell and landed in the spring court and tamlin happened to witness it.
NOW HERE COMES THE PLOT FROM ANOTHER FICTIONAL UNIVERSE. i was thinking like MCU black widows escaping the red room. so these 3 girls are faeries who were somehow kidnapped by (tbh i was thinking humans but uk being kidnapped by a kingdom in the continent sounds more uhm realistic? whatever i was in social studies and it just came about) some crazy dude who wanted well assassins they can control and stuff.
these 3 girls are:
Ivy
- she's a (NOW HERE COMES THE MADE UP IMAGINATION PART) shifter. (giving very much lysandra from TOG)
- she's from the spring court
- hazel brown hair, green(left) blue(right) eyes
- her powers are animal shape shifting
Zaria
- she's from the summer court
- periwinkle blue box braids hair, amber eyes and her left leg is metal (giving very much bucky barnes but legs edition)
- Her powers are (HERE COMES THE TAKING ANOTHER UNIVERSE PLOT FROM ANOTHER FICTIONAL BOOK) heartrender and healer.
Althea
- her mother's from the dawn court and her father's from the night court
- black hair, dark brown eyes and she got scars at her back.
- now i wanted to make her interesting and because I can AHAHAHAHA i gave her the powers of some of the MCU eternals namely sersi, thena, ajak, druig, kingo (BYE- I WANTED SOMEONE TO RIVAL FEYRE AND RHYSAND)
- also because like eternals powers are like what cosmic energy? and i saw a tumblr post that said eris was a dreamer but there were no stars in his world. SO LIKE SHE CAN BE HIS STAR OR WHATEVAAAA.
: and because i can they all 3 can winnow LMAOOOO
so these 3 girls were running away after burning down the red room. althea and zaria were heavily injured so that left Ivy to winnow them and the first place she thought of was the spring court. okay also they jumped out of the building so that's why when ivy winnowed they fell from the sky.
after reading all this, i must say my imagination runs wild and i should really start focusing in school and thinking about career stuff LOL.
anyways Ivy wanted to rebuild the spring court because she's bloody loyal and believes for the greater good and like #imaproudfaeofspringcourt kinda person AHAHAHAHAH.
now obv tamlin would do some interrogation on them and stuff and their all suspicious with one another. also zaria and althea have nowhere to go since their family and homes were killed when they were taken.
so these 3 girls and tamlin developed a weird kind of friendship. they started healing the spring court and also healing together #bffs. 6 MONTHS LATER CAME LUCIEN VANSERRA.
now here comes the sad part because I wasn't thinking about development of elucien. so basically he came to the spring court after a terrible fight with elain and she basically told him stuff that cut DEEP. so lucien had enough because he was getting hurt for 1yr plus of pining. he didn't break the bond. he also quit being the night court emissary. he told feyre that "he need some time". so he came to the spring court to check up with tamlin.
IMAGINE HIS SURPRISE WHEN HE SAW TAMLIN AND 3 GIRLS.
Lucien helps out with rebuilding the spring court along with them and ALL OF 5 OF THEM BECOME SOME FOUND FAMILY.
and and they became the people tamlin trusts so their like inner circle 2.0 walmart edition (im really degrading my own story).
Tamlin- High Lord (obv)
Lucien- Second in command
Ivy- Third in command
Zaria- General of the spring court armies
Alrhea- Spymaster
then times later theres a high lord meeting... (btw by then they know spring court has been getting better) and tamlin pulls up with 3 badass looking women and sexy firefox lucien.
and FINALLY how the fic came about is when theres like a ball with high lords and like other important people held at the dawn court. Althea was talking with Nesta Archeron when she sees Lucien drunk (from getting in another fight w elain) (IM SO SORRY ELUCIENS) and making his way to none other than his brother.

A Court of Mist and Fury pt. 3
Or in hindsight I know that I was blinded
hi & hello fellow book-lovers and/or fans of the ACOTAR/ACOMAF-series. After a quick break I am back to shout my thoughts into the endless void of book-tumblr. As always please remember that this is just my opinion on the books/story/characters and you do not have to agree with me. Instead please feel welcomed to tell me your thoughts on the matter & read through my other ramblings as well
Now that we have discussed Feyre and Tamlin it is only natural to move on to our third Love-Triangle-Part Rhysand and his Night Court.
Rhysand is literally perfect what the fuck? I like him so much. And I think that this is what makes me so angry about Feyre and Tamlin because obviously Sarah J. Maas is capable of writing characters that make sense, that work well within the world and story. Rhys is interesting, respectful and hard-working, he cares for his friends, his court. And while he can be a bit too cocky and overconfident at times it seems as if he knows his limits, knows what he can and can't do. He has flaws, as any normal human or fae (as perfect as they may seem) has but he acknowledges this. Tamlin seemed to be all that as well in the first book but Rhys is different in the way that he acknowledges Feyre's as well as his own trauma. He is not the picture-perfect love interest, he is a bit morally grey right from the start and he admits to it (shielding his city from everyone to protect it, telling Amarantha the fake name Feyre gave him, being brutal towards the Court of Nightmares, etc.). He talks about his feelings and obviously makes everyone else around him feel like they can own up to their past as well. This dynamic is something that is nice to read through.
Cassian, Mor, Azriel and Amren work so well with him and the Night Court. Their whole group-dynamic is fun and gives off so much found family vibes, it is simply amazing. They work so closely together, each and every single one of them plays their role, in the Court of Dreams as well as in the Court of Nightmares. Feyre gets to know and work with them all individually (some more, some less), so the reader is able to figure out all the dynamics on their own. We get to experience these characters as well as their flaws, fears and to some extent their backgrounds. And what I think is most enjoyable is that there is no "mean" character that picks on the main character just because, which many young adult books like to have (typically another female character and this trope is so old any mysogynistic but that is an entirely different topic lol). Instead we get to experience Mor and Feyre instantly bonding with each other or Feyre being able to prove to Amren that she is useful and more than just a pretty High Fae from the Spring Court. There is so much more to Mor and Amren in general that I instantly fell in love with both of them.
As for Azriel and Cassian I am really excited to see what more they can do. Because they have been established as strong fighters who would die for their friends and the end of ACOMAF has only further proven this. However even though we have been told that Feyre has been training with Cassian we don't get to see the same level of interaction we do with Mor or even with Amren. Same goes for Azriel. It seems like Feyre is kind of all up in their romantic business but not really interacting with both of the men. Since Feyre is the main character and we see the story through her eyes I hope she spends more time with Cassian and Az, so that we as the readers get to see more of them.
The Characters of the Court of Dreams are my favorite so I am glad that the focus of the story was moved to them. Of course not everything about the way they and their interactions are portrayed is perfect but it is much more enjoyable than the Spring Court in the first book. The Night Court is a clear sign that SJM is able to work this out, make characters consistent, likeable even with their flaws and trauma. And that is what I hope to see from the next book(s): characters that act upon their alleged motivation. Make the bad guys act their part if they want to see their enemies destroyed, make them evil, ruthless and cunning. Let morally grey characters be grey, let them have their reasons for doing the things they are doing. Give characters chances to heal, to be better, to turn their lives around. Let there be more to all of their lifes than mates and romantic love (is that a hint for the next part...?)

Why do people think Gw*n is the only one who knows Azriel can sing? Where did this even come from? Just because it’s the first time Azriel has confirmed it on page doesn’t mean that this information was unknown to anyone. It just means it was unknown to Gw*n specifically.
And the way he answers her question the first time, it seemed like he thought it should be obvious that he sang because “it’s not just a title someone made up.” The word singer is literally in the name of his title and it’s not there just because it sounds pretty. Of course he sings.
So if it’s in his title and it’s part of his power as a shadowsinger and he thinks it should be obvious to someone he’s only been around for a few months and isn’t even someone he considers a friend, shouldn’t it be obvious to people who are closest to him and he’s known for centuries? He’s clearly not hiding it from people. And if he was, why would he tell Gw*n of all people? Because like he said they aren’t close.
And if this was supposed to be some big, important moment where Azriel decides to reveal something to her that he’s hidden from everyone else for centuries, it certainly didn’t read that way. He didn’t have an “oh shit” moment where he realizes he told something to someone that he’s never revealed to anyone else. He doesn’t act like it’s a big deal or some important piece of private information. He chuckles and then distracts her because he doesn’t “feel” like demonstrating it to her.
When Sarah wants to highlight something important, she makes sure you know. Like for instance, when Azriel gave Elain Truth Teller. That’s an in canon moment that was special between Elriel that Sarah made sure to emphasize and highlight even though we weren’t in his head like in the bonus POV. Hence, why everyone stopped and stared and gaped at him as he gave it to her, and then had Feyre ask the question of whether he’d ever given it to anyone. And just to really hit home the dramatic importance of it all lol, she had Feyre wax poetic about the whole thing, complete with invisioning an entire mural she wanted to paint of Death and the Lovely Fawn.
Can you spot the difference between this:
Tumblr media
And this:
Tumblr media
Azriel giving Elain Truth Teller is an important moment because it’s something he has only shared with Elain and she makes sure the reader knows that. Azriel confirming he can sing is not.

What Feyre says happened:
I had not forgotten that long-ago fight he’d picked with Lucien. The warning he’d given to him to stop flirting with me. To stay away. The fear that I’d prefer the red-headed lord over him and it would threaten every plan he had. Back off, he’d told Lucien. (ACOWAR)
. . .
What actually happened:
“By the Cauldron, Tam--there isn’t much time, and you’re sulking and glowering. You’re not even trying to fake it anymore.
“It was a mistake from the start. I can’t stomach it, not after what my father did to their kind, to their lands. I won’t follow in those footsteps--won’t be that kind of person. So back off.
“Back off? Back off while you seal our fates and ruin everything? (ACOTAR)
. . .
Listen, this is what pisses me off about how SJM handled Tamlin. She completely warps things Tamlin did in ACOTAR into something they weren’t, all with the intention of manipulating the reader. I’m sorry, but you can’t unwrite the first book.
Where did Tamlin warn Lucien to stop flirting? The “back off” scene is literally Tamlin telling Lucien to back off pushing the “get Feyre to fall in love with you” rhetoric. Lucien was the one encouraging Tamlin to flirt with Feyre. Then this bullshit of Lucien’s flirting ruining Tamlin’s plans? How can Tamlin have these grand plans, then the narrative turns around and shits on him for “doing nothing and sitting on his ass for fifty years because he had no plan.” It can’t be both.
Bottom line is that he had given up and clearly didn’t feel comfortable trying to get Feyre to fall for him; it was Lucien trying to carry out this “plan.” (Understandably, but let’s not pretend Tamlin was some manipulating mastermind.)
Look, I’ve been shipping Feysand since Rhys showed up in ACOTAR. I DEFENDED Rhys after ACOTAR, because I saw the bigger picture. But goodness, dragging Tamlin to this extent and completely doing a 180 on the writing you wrote is bad writing. It was completely unnecessary, as it was obvious Feyre was going to be better suited with Rhys without backtracking your own writing.
I’m a fan of this series, but how she handled the fallout of Tamlin and Feyre was bad writing and I’m sorry, I just have to vent sometimes, lol.

A Court of Mist and Fury
or The Beginning of the End
hi & hello fellow book-lovers and/or fans of the ACOTAR/ACOMAF-series. I have recently finished A Court of Mist and Fury and can't stop thinking about a bunch of different aspects of the story. So after three days of contemplation I have finally decided to blast my thoughts out onto tumblr just to get them out of my brain. You are more than welcomed to read through them & interact with them in any way you like, but please bear in mind that these are my personal opinions & that I do not have to agree with you. (and this should go without saying but I am not hating on Sarah J. Maas). It's just what I thought while and after reading it. So don't expect something too based here but still read it to the end hehe :)
Let's start with some characters shall we? How about our High Lord of the Spring Court first, since I know that he is not liked by many lol So Tamlin, right...
...why does he turn to be the evil guy even before the third part of ACOMAF?
He broke as well Under the Mountain, probably even before because of having to risk his entire court to find a woman who could help him lift the curse but why does Tamlin not get the chance to heal like Feyre and/or Rhysand? He has done some dumb shit, i'll admit, and definitely treated Feyre wrong in so many ways before Rhys took her away. But why does he not get a chance to redeem himself? Why are his actions immediately labeled as bad when he is just as broken as many other characters in this book, when literally his whole character in the first book had been labeled as a protective person who had already lost so much in his life? I DONT WANT TO EXCUSE HIS BEHAVIOUR IN ACOMAF but isn't it to be expected that someone who is protective, broken and traumatised will not always act rationally when fearing something might happen to their loved ones? I guess my main issue here is that Rhysand (the best man in the entire series btw go argue with a wall), an equally traumatised, broken, protective person, gets to have healing moments, happiness and a found family (we love to see it, you go king) but the same attributes make Tamlin the bad guy.
Like from a plot-standpoint I totally get making him side with the enemy but wouldn't it have been way more impactful if it was out of actual hate towards Feyre and/or Rhysand? We as readers get told that Tamlin & Rhys do not like each other but throughout the main part of the book it mostly seems like Tamlin is not intervening at all (except for sending Lucien once after what feels like months?). If he was so heavily and undyingly in love with Feyre wouldn't there have been more attempts in various ways? It makes his appearance as a "traitor" seem so weak because we have not heard from him after the locked-in incident and Feyre's arrival at the Night Court. In fact I have completely forgotten about him after a few chapters and just got reminded when Feyre mentioned him.
I do have to say that I love this take on a love triangle. Feyre is not stuck between Tamlin and Rhysand because it is obvious who the better choice is and she chooses exactly that.
I am extremely interested to see how his character will evolve in the coming books but as for now it just feels like SJM wants to make the reader hate Tamlin to justify FeyrexRhysand even though their interactions alone in comparison to FeyrexTamlin are enough validation for the reader to prefer them (or at least they should if they know what a healthy relationship is). The reader gets enough reason from Feyre and her comparison of the two males already, why are we led to think/feel that Tamlin "slaughtered" Rhysands family, when Rhysand himself said that he doesn't know if Tamlin was part-taking beyond telling his father the location. Slaughtered is such a strong word, especially considering that Feyre goes on a killing spree to save Rhysand mere pages later, indeed slaughtering her enemies... Then she herself is thinking that Under the Mountain changed both her and Tamlin so much, that they were no longer a good fit for each other and I loved that! Show me more of Feyre actually comparing herself before and after Under the Mountain, how Rhysand treats her and what new role he offers her. Why does Tamlin need to be the root of all evil to justify Feyre's new relationship? And when will he get to heal?
