reading "stealing infinity" by alyson noël and being absolutely disaoppointed - a tale by me
(maybe spoilers?)
first of all what the fuck is up with the chapter lenght?? whos idea was this???? there are chapters that are literally 2 pages long (at least in my version)... if you can even call that a chapter.
nothing happens for like 400 pages, when you finally get to a real mystery and the real reason natasha was invited to gray wolf. more pages =/= good world/character building
the characters are flat af, there are almost no motivations, no goals, no depth. we get told they have some kind of goal but we don't get to see them work for it in any way.
instead of using the previous pages before they mystery to build natashas character we get timeskip after timeskip, scenes with braxton where they a) don't talk only make-out or b) natasha asks stupid, irrelevant questions that brax doesn't answer.
also the fact that natasha has so much beef with stealing. babe. its just. stealing from rich people. they're all so dramatic about it like "you'll be different" etc. etc. but like... idk i don't think stealing shit is that serious lmao
relationships to other characters are non-existance. we get told that she is friends with song, oliver, etc. but we don't get to see them be friends. we're just expected to believe they are.
elodie is annoying. she is not a villain, she is not morally gray, she is not a friend. she is just annoying.
arthur is supposed to be this intimidating, genious billionaire but he is literally just a guy. just some dude with a mansion. how am i supposed to believe that there are consequences to crossing him or not living up to his expectations when he's not even doing anything? he's just there.
i also love the pseudo-feminism lmao. go ahead critiquing the role of women hundreds of years ago while allowing not one female character in your book to be a likeable person with motives (exluding ✨️men✨️) <3
spoiler down there⬇️
god please dont tell me you made me read 500 pages about braxtons wonderfully amazingly loveable pretty bluest blue to ever blue eyes just to throw a second love interest at me. at least killian is a much more enjoyable name than fucking braxton.

honestly sevro is such a delight he just says whatever and gives zero fucks i love him
seeing darrow defeated and then picking himself up again was honestly very good change of pace compared to the first two books
<sevro3
ragnar also slays i love a brutal but soft giant
not victra calling cassius darrow's boyfriend bye
i think sevro spiraling is so interesting bc its really just darrow in the first two books
and tbh i like third book darrow much more bc he seems less arrogant and more grounded somehow?
so sevro get your shit together so i can love you again
he got his shit together

RAGNAR DIES??? AND AJA IS STILL CRAWLING SOMEWHERE
what is this shit
fuck i'm crying
well... at least they got the Valkyrie
and cassius is alive so thats good
'mangy little guardian angel' is the best sevro description to ever exist
add 'psychotic Goblin-sized fighter jet' to that
Romulus seems like such an interesting character and i gotta hand it to him: he is one of the more likeable golds
i feel like pierce brown is much better at writing 1-on-1 fight scenes than big space craft wars
or maybe thats just me being too dumb to understand such descriptions
bro victra is so cool holy shit i love i hope she lives forever and ever
rip roque, if only you had stayed as cool as you were in red rising
the chemistry between darrow and cassius? holy shit get married
actually now that i think about it; the relationships between darrow and all of his male friends? sevro, cassius, roque... bro he loves them fr fr
maybe its cuz i dont remember golden son that well but has there ever been such tension and trust and undying love between him and mustang? 💀
anyways i almost cried reading chapter 50 even tho it is one of those few timed no one dies
VICTRA AND SEVRO MARRY OH MY GOD I MIGHT CRY
CASSIUS YOU BITCHASS I TOLD YOU TO BE COOL AND YOU DO THIS???
how am i supposed to defend you now you stupid dumbass

ok sorry cassius i take that back my bad
back to loving him i go
if this was all some elite plan i hope for you bitches that sevro is alive (will be alive?)
the choice to makw mustang sovereign is so good omg i love it
also darrow saying he makes a bridge to the lowColors and she to the highColors ans together they can make a new world?

so i finished a court of wings an ruin pt.2
let us talk about the men... even though i don't really want to talk about them. for the most part they really disappointed me lol
Tamlin
tamlin is.... trying to be better (at least in the beginning) i guess but there will be no way that he will actually heal & get to move on if not only feyre but lucien as well betray him, use him, destroy him & his court
I was very much interested to see where the story leads him though I had no actual hopes for him to get a redemption arc (which he deserves, I stand by that point argue with the wall)
then he was not trying to do better anymore but now I think he is fully leaning into the villain role which FINALLY gives him the edge that has been missing
because now i see and feel that he has turned his back to prythian because he has really lost EVERYTHING that had importance to him (feyre, lucien, his court, ...). now we can make a good villain out of him, you know?
....
.......
..........
.............
make up your mind tamlin god fucking damn it, im getting tired of your back and forth DO YOU WANT TO SEE THE WOLRD BURN OR DO YOU NOT YOU ARE WORSE THAN ME AND I AM A SUN LIBRA MOON GEMINI
also sorry but how tf did he survive until the end my mans should have died or been killed on so many occasions bruh
Lucien
see this is what I was hoping for after the first and second book, lucien is so cool & such an interesting character especially considering his (still kinda unexplored) backstory
•so WHY is his ONLY character trait now elain??? please there is so much more to him, give me literally anything else
the descriptions of him fitting into the surroundings of the autumn court are so amazing though I am literally in love
i think its cool how he gets to work with the people at the night court and i hope he gets to work more with azriel and maybe rhys especially with things about autumn and spring court
also loved to see his inner feelings regarding elain and jasminda!! that was such a nice detail to show that he is falling (hard) for elain but still feels guilt about his first love (still annoying though)
... great, written off to go find a human queen... guess thats one way to get rid of a character... could've just killed him if you didn't need him bye
Rhysand
rhysand ... why fuck first talk later? war is coming my dude you can get your dick wet later, after you have heard news and planned accordingly???? Im disappointed 100% ew
but nooooo, instead we get this weird horny political talk... am I supposed to enjoy this?
apart from that he was kinda boring
unfiltered thoughts after he "died": i CANT BELIVE CAN NOT BELIEVE that he died AND THEN WAS RESURRECTED THE SAME WAY FEYRE WAS bro that was the most unnecessary scene i have ever read why make me go through all that tension (again bc it happened with feyre before) just to make him come back to life this is so shit i don't know wether to laugh or cry
but tbh i didnt believe for 1 second that he was actually dead, im sorry but there was no way SJM would have the balls to kill of Rhys lol
Tarquin
unrelated but I miss Tarquin he was cool I have a crush on him <3
he is way too good for the other high lords, i'd rather read about him
Cassian
eh... boring at best, annoying at his worst.
bro what the hell why are you so fucking obsessed with nesta YOU DONT EVEN KNOW HER and clearly she is trying to avoid you take a hint (no that is not romantic its creepy and annoying)
like "no means no" also applies to fae or other magical beings leave her A L O N E
he was so cool in the first book but this time it also feels like his only remaining character trait is nesta (giving very much lucien and i hate it) and maybe a bit of fighting/training stuff
Azriel
stays true to his character (at least in the beginning...)
if feyre is going to butt into his love life more I am going to riot, leave the man alone!
only one who actually pays actual attention to elain (yes, not even lucien does this as well as az) & figures her powers out first
also love how he is obv in love with mor but is neither making this his only character trait (looking @ you cassian & lucien) nor doing everything for her. he is NOT changing but staying true to his self i hope this stays the same
......
..........
...............
ah nevermind he just tried to suffocate eris... honestly though I get the like pride & protect my family stuff but arent all of them a bit too easily riled up? all high lords & courts are assholes after all, you guys included. you should know this by now
slay for saving elain
Jurian
now what is this?
wha- why does SJM want to give everyone a redemption so bad (except for tamlin ofc we been knew)
am i really supposed to believe that Jurian has reached clarity after witnessing everything through Amarantha? it was so such a good concept, having a human turn insane and helping those he despised
and (even if its a bad example) would have showed that humans and fae CAN work together after all
all men do is lie. only tarquin slays. bye.

so i finished a court of wings and ruin
man i have so many thoughts i don't even know where to start but this time i made notes while reading so strap in because there is A LOT to say
i'll start with dearest Feyre darling because damn she is one hell of a main character and not in a good way.
The psychological warfare at the beginning of the book? So cool, especially when she was working against ianthe and the hybern-Siblings because it really felt like her feelings towards them were truly justified and the pure dislike made it all the more satisfying when she won against them (especially ianthe that disgusting piece of shit i fucking hate her).
But i am not too much of a fan of the whole "let tamlin and lucien suffer" thing... Or more like her plan to rope in the whole spring Court and basically leave them to die at hyberns mercy very cool feyre you totally are morally superior
actually it kinda feels like she is taking the moral high ground over EVERYONE which... idk girly you are not exactly perfect and flawless either
also ummmm why is the first thing she and rhys do after being re-uinted fukcing? what about your oh so important sisters bestie... i am actually disgusted
after feyre arrives in the night court again she seems off somehow. there is no focus to her character, she is all over the place even. her part in the spring court was so clear, thoughtful and she had a goal. now that she is back in the night court it feels like a lot of building up (but it is rather boring lol)
alsoi need her to stop meddling with other peoples romantic feelings and romantic interests you don't have to force everyone into a relationship especially if they don't want to!!!!!!!
ALSO also start thinking about your actions before you do them. I'm tired of having to read about how she regrets something she did over and over again
the fact that she FORGETS her sisters????? FORGET??? A HUMAN BEING??? HELOO?? especially elain??? wtf how are you not worried to death about your starving, grieving, lovesick, maybe probably traumatized sister(s)???
and besides why does she think so ill of nesta? wow she is smiling? omg i thought she was made of stone?!?!!? (this is sarcasm btw) she says its an "eternal shock" for her to see nesta almost smile wtf she is still your sister that went through trauma since childhood not a monster you found in the fucking woods
why is feyre happy for elain slowly overcoming her trauma but shocked at nesta? i smell favoritism
and AGAIN i hate that she doesn't like to hear/feel/see the consequences of her own actions. like i already said her actions aren't always justified and when she faces repercussions she blocks the images from her mind lol sure okay that's how growing as a character works
example: she starts arguments with other high lords, insults them and gets pissed when they insult back or not jump immediately to her proposition like babe... what did you expect?
im tired of feyre hoping/thinking that everyone will fold backwards for her and rhys. we know that what you are fighting for is right and important but other high lords do not. they are centuries old, ignorant bastards not everyone is a rhys or a tarquin or even a kallias. they will cause problems on purpose, get used to it please or at least stop being overdramatic at every insult they throw your way jesus
unfiltered thoughts after the weird mor-feyre-beef (??): FUCK THIS i am OVER it, i am OVER feyre what in the dumb fuck is this? mor just told you that she was angry with you because you lied to her and rhys and could have been captured or killed by hybern so feyre responds with confronting mor about her feelings ("lies" ok bitch) towards az and helion. what kind of a shit friend are you??? jesus fuck i hate her so much rn
no wtf wtf i cant believe that this is how feyre defends herself??? MORS (romantic) FEELINGS ARE NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. YOU VANISHING ON HER AND LYING IS HER BUSINESS. STOP FUCKING MEDDLING WITH EVERYONES ROMANCES AND SORT OUT YOUR OWN FUCKING ISSUES
fuck off

A Court of Mist and Fury pt. 4
Or Somehow its not getting better
hi & hello fellow book-lovers and/or fans of the ACOTAR/ACOMAF-series. I have another part for you about A Court of Mist and Fury. Maybe by now you can tell how many thoughts I had about this book lmao. Anyways this is just my opinion on the matter and should not be taken as the only truth. If you want to you can leave your opinion in the comments or send me a message and we can talk more about it :) But for now let's get back into it.
We have some more Characters to discuss: Nesta, Elain and Lucien. And while we are at it I will also leave you a rant about ships
First things first (and don't get angry with me now): Nesta and Elain are pretty boring up until now. While I have to say that their involvement in the story in ACOMAF is more solid I am still a bit iffy because of ACOTAR. They were introduced to the reader as pretty much useless, rather unlikeable women (hence why I was so happy when Mor and Amren were introduced because finally women who were cool <333) and only got a bit of redeeming when Feyre returned for a short time. But in her absence they got rich. hm. I don't know, something just feels off. Why were we presented with a Cinderella-Type-Story just for both sisters to play an (apparently) much bigger role in this and coming books? Am I really supposed to like them now? And damn how convenient it is that their father is never home lmao. Other than that I don't really have that many thoughts about them as individual characters because well they are kinda bland :/ But I will give Sarah J. Maas the benefit of the doubt for now, maybe both Nesta and Elain will be given more character, motivation and overall substance in the next part of the series.
Lucien on the other hand was amazing in the first book. Personally he is my second favorite after Rhys as of now. We only got to see bits and pieces of him, his backstory and his powers during the first book and even less of that now in ACOMAF, which I found pretty sad. And when he gets to have some "screentime" he gets guilt-tripped by Feyre (as if Tamlin is not his superior and closest friend, of course he would be loyal aaarrggghhhh). However as much as I would like him to have a bit more of a backbone, I can understand why he is staying so loyal to Tamlin, at least based on what we as readers know of him up until now. And yet I can't help to wish for a bit more to his character, more of what he was in the first book: fiery, cunning, cheeky; a fox. Not just Tamlin's pet, only wincing not opening his mouth, except when it comes to Elain.
Which leads me to the trope I hate most in books: the author feeling the need to couple up all of the main characters/all characters in the mc's close circle. And we're circling back to Nesta's and Elain's involvement in the story. Were they brought back from their rather plain existence in the human world and turned to Fae because they need to function as love interests for Cassian and Lucien? Why is Cassian so easily smitten by Nesta anyways? Because she is a cHaLlEnGe to him? Or did he also already have his mate-instincts activated without us knowing? Is the concept of a mate even really of romantic significance, when Lucien had a love interest before in the Autumn Court? Why would Fae even bother to date other people when they can't feel that they are their mates? Because as I understood it the Fae are immediately able to feel if someone is their mate, like Rhys did for Feyre and Lucien for Elain. Or is it just the man feeling this first? The concept of finding your mate is actually something I really like, destined lovers is so cute and asdfghjkl BUT in this universe the extent of this concept is still very much unclear to me as you may have noticed.
Guys, idk about you but I personally do not like it, when every Character needs to end up in a romantic relationship. Is that really the end-goal? If something is turning me off of the next books it's this trope of romance-everywhere, especially when it's this destined lovers one. Because in and of itself that trope is amazing, but when the romantic partner becomes a characters only driving force in their life from this point on it gets old very quickly and most importantly undermines other characters traits a person very much should have. I don't know how SJM will handle this in the upcoming parts of the series. Because looking back at Feyre and Ryhsand I already feel as if their romance is now the focus, the driving force, especially for Feyre. Her thoughts seem to circle back to Rhys constantly as if her returning to the Spring Court would not have any other downsides than not being at Rhys' side. Shouldn't the trauma and fear she had experienced there be a bigger concern? At least at the beginning? Has Tamlin not realized that Feyre is not his mate? Doesn't that mean that there is a person out there that would be the perfect fit for him? Isn't that important enough for him to maybe rethink his actions? And why do I have the feeling that the only reason Lucien will show some backbone is because he has that weird, borderline creepy possessiveness towards Elain? Because let's be real being that possessive is not attractive even when Rhys does it.

A Court of Mist and Fury pt. 3
Or in hindsight I know that I was blinded
hi & hello fellow book-lovers and/or fans of the ACOTAR/ACOMAF-series. After a quick break I am back to shout my thoughts into the endless void of book-tumblr. As always please remember that this is just my opinion on the books/story/characters and you do not have to agree with me. Instead please feel welcomed to tell me your thoughts on the matter & read through my other ramblings as well
Now that we have discussed Feyre and Tamlin it is only natural to move on to our third Love-Triangle-Part Rhysand and his Night Court.
Rhysand is literally perfect what the fuck? I like him so much. And I think that this is what makes me so angry about Feyre and Tamlin because obviously Sarah J. Maas is capable of writing characters that make sense, that work well within the world and story. Rhys is interesting, respectful and hard-working, he cares for his friends, his court. And while he can be a bit too cocky and overconfident at times it seems as if he knows his limits, knows what he can and can't do. He has flaws, as any normal human or fae (as perfect as they may seem) has but he acknowledges this. Tamlin seemed to be all that as well in the first book but Rhys is different in the way that he acknowledges Feyre's as well as his own trauma. He is not the picture-perfect love interest, he is a bit morally grey right from the start and he admits to it (shielding his city from everyone to protect it, telling Amarantha the fake name Feyre gave him, being brutal towards the Court of Nightmares, etc.). He talks about his feelings and obviously makes everyone else around him feel like they can own up to their past as well. This dynamic is something that is nice to read through.
Cassian, Mor, Azriel and Amren work so well with him and the Night Court. Their whole group-dynamic is fun and gives off so much found family vibes, it is simply amazing. They work so closely together, each and every single one of them plays their role, in the Court of Dreams as well as in the Court of Nightmares. Feyre gets to know and work with them all individually (some more, some less), so the reader is able to figure out all the dynamics on their own. We get to experience these characters as well as their flaws, fears and to some extent their backgrounds. And what I think is most enjoyable is that there is no "mean" character that picks on the main character just because, which many young adult books like to have (typically another female character and this trope is so old any mysogynistic but that is an entirely different topic lol). Instead we get to experience Mor and Feyre instantly bonding with each other or Feyre being able to prove to Amren that she is useful and more than just a pretty High Fae from the Spring Court. There is so much more to Mor and Amren in general that I instantly fell in love with both of them.
As for Azriel and Cassian I am really excited to see what more they can do. Because they have been established as strong fighters who would die for their friends and the end of ACOMAF has only further proven this. However even though we have been told that Feyre has been training with Cassian we don't get to see the same level of interaction we do with Mor or even with Amren. Same goes for Azriel. It seems like Feyre is kind of all up in their romantic business but not really interacting with both of the men. Since Feyre is the main character and we see the story through her eyes I hope she spends more time with Cassian and Az, so that we as the readers get to see more of them.
The Characters of the Court of Dreams are my favorite so I am glad that the focus of the story was moved to them. Of course not everything about the way they and their interactions are portrayed is perfect but it is much more enjoyable than the Spring Court in the first book. The Night Court is a clear sign that SJM is able to work this out, make characters consistent, likeable even with their flaws and trauma. And that is what I hope to see from the next book(s): characters that act upon their alleged motivation. Make the bad guys act their part if they want to see their enemies destroyed, make them evil, ruthless and cunning. Let morally grey characters be grey, let them have their reasons for doing the things they are doing. Give characters chances to heal, to be better, to turn their lives around. Let there be more to all of their lifes than mates and romantic love (is that a hint for the next part...?)

A Court of Mist and Fury pt. 2
or You were good, I'm waiting for you to be great
hi & hello fellow book-lovers and/or fans of the ACOTAR/ACOMAF-series. and welcome back to me rambling about ACOMAF even though no one asked :) Just like I said in the first part this is my personal opinion on the characters/the story/etc. but you are more than welcomed to tell me your thoughts on the matter. I'd love to hear other peoples opinions hehe (also no hate to Sarah J. Maas in here)
After reading through ACOMAF I can't help but find Feyre a bit inconsistent and sometimes annoying, especially as the story continues. While I really, really liked her character in the first book and the beginning of ACOMAF, where she showed compassion, was brave, intelligent and fierce but also vulnerable, lonely and warily, she is starting to feel a bit less of all those things with every new chapter in this book. I can't quite put my finger on it but I will try to explain more about what irks me.
I really appreciate Sarah J. Maas actually showing how her characters are hurting from their time Under the Mountain and Amarantha's reign in general, because all of the things that happened even before Feyre went out to save Tamlin had been horrible on the Faes and their usual lifes. And thus seeing Feyre struggling with painting, with being locked inside, being left out really hits hard and makes her an interesting character. She is still compassionate and brave and fierce but it is all buried under layers of trauma and self-doubt/self-hate. I wanted her to heal and work through her fears, especially after arriving at the Night Court (for good) because that was a place where she would be able to do so. However continuing the story I sometimes couldn't shake the feeling that her trauma got lost in the other plotlines (romance, upcoming war, new powers) just to resurface again when the plot demanded it to.
I also didn't like the way her "transition" (for the lack of a better word) from Tamlin to Rhysand was handled. It feels like Sarah J. Maas is trying to come up with reasons to make Feyre (and by conclusion us, as readers who follow Feyre's story) feel less guilty about leaving Tamlin and falling for Rhysand, when all of the reasons to understand Feyre's decision are already there. Tamlin wasn't able to understand her after the events Under the Mountain, shutting her out of court decisions and locking her in the house, leaving her in her own sorrow and trauma, while not being able to overcome his own demons. All of this was already enough (for me) to no longer support FeyrexTamlin at this point, because they were no longer a good fit for each other (as it was acknowledged by Feyre herself later in the book), especially when considering they both needed different people in their lifes to be able to heal. Personally I wholeheartedly already supported Feyre moving on from him. And Rhys gave her exactly what she needed, while acknowledging that he himself is far from being perfect.
And besides all of this I was really confused about some "social" world-building aspects, mainly the whole mate-thing. So here is a quick thought about that because it is tied to Feyre's story after all (but I will talk more about mates in another post): As I understood it Fae are able to immediately tell when someone is their mate (see Rhysand and Lucien). For Tamlin and Feyre it was a different story because of Amaranthas weird challenge but why wasn't Feyre able to identify Rhys as her "true" mate when she was actually spending so much time with him? Did I understand correctly that she was afraid of being seen as two-timing? But by whom? Literally who in the whole Court of Dreams would have had any thoughts like this? And while she may would not want to admit her attraction to Rhys because of her feelings for Tamlin in the beginning that should have become less on an issue after the locked-in incident in the Spring Court. Or am I overlooking something here? Also I didn't really like how Feyre was so hurt by finding out that Rhysand knew that they were mates. I also wished he would have told her (and everyone else for that matter) sooner, but then Tamlin defecting to the enemy wouldn't be justified anymore, right? But Rhysand had his reasons and damn good ones might I add. This fight as well as their fight after their visit to the Court of Nightmares was such a cliche not-communicating-the-right-way issue that it was simply frustrating to read through. remember how i said "a quick thought" and now this has become the longest passage of this post lmao
All in all Feyre has, because of her (back)story in A Court of Thorns and Roses, so much potential to be an interesting character, a female character that is actually more than her romantic interests in male characters. And while the beginning of ACOMAF delivers on that Feyre's personality seems to get lost a bit in the later half. I wonder how she will work her way through the time at the Spring Court, without her support system from the Night Court at her side in the next book(s?). As for now I don't know where I stand with her.

A Court of Mist and Fury
or The Beginning of the End
hi & hello fellow book-lovers and/or fans of the ACOTAR/ACOMAF-series. I have recently finished A Court of Mist and Fury and can't stop thinking about a bunch of different aspects of the story. So after three days of contemplation I have finally decided to blast my thoughts out onto tumblr just to get them out of my brain. You are more than welcomed to read through them & interact with them in any way you like, but please bear in mind that these are my personal opinions & that I do not have to agree with you. (and this should go without saying but I am not hating on Sarah J. Maas). It's just what I thought while and after reading it. So don't expect something too based here but still read it to the end hehe :)
Let's start with some characters shall we? How about our High Lord of the Spring Court first, since I know that he is not liked by many lol So Tamlin, right...
...why does he turn to be the evil guy even before the third part of ACOMAF?
He broke as well Under the Mountain, probably even before because of having to risk his entire court to find a woman who could help him lift the curse but why does Tamlin not get the chance to heal like Feyre and/or Rhysand? He has done some dumb shit, i'll admit, and definitely treated Feyre wrong in so many ways before Rhys took her away. But why does he not get a chance to redeem himself? Why are his actions immediately labeled as bad when he is just as broken as many other characters in this book, when literally his whole character in the first book had been labeled as a protective person who had already lost so much in his life? I DONT WANT TO EXCUSE HIS BEHAVIOUR IN ACOMAF but isn't it to be expected that someone who is protective, broken and traumatised will not always act rationally when fearing something might happen to their loved ones? I guess my main issue here is that Rhysand (the best man in the entire series btw go argue with a wall), an equally traumatised, broken, protective person, gets to have healing moments, happiness and a found family (we love to see it, you go king) but the same attributes make Tamlin the bad guy.
Like from a plot-standpoint I totally get making him side with the enemy but wouldn't it have been way more impactful if it was out of actual hate towards Feyre and/or Rhysand? We as readers get told that Tamlin & Rhys do not like each other but throughout the main part of the book it mostly seems like Tamlin is not intervening at all (except for sending Lucien once after what feels like months?). If he was so heavily and undyingly in love with Feyre wouldn't there have been more attempts in various ways? It makes his appearance as a "traitor" seem so weak because we have not heard from him after the locked-in incident and Feyre's arrival at the Night Court. In fact I have completely forgotten about him after a few chapters and just got reminded when Feyre mentioned him.
I do have to say that I love this take on a love triangle. Feyre is not stuck between Tamlin and Rhysand because it is obvious who the better choice is and she chooses exactly that.
I am extremely interested to see how his character will evolve in the coming books but as for now it just feels like SJM wants to make the reader hate Tamlin to justify FeyrexRhysand even though their interactions alone in comparison to FeyrexTamlin are enough validation for the reader to prefer them (or at least they should if they know what a healthy relationship is). The reader gets enough reason from Feyre and her comparison of the two males already, why are we led to think/feel that Tamlin "slaughtered" Rhysands family, when Rhysand himself said that he doesn't know if Tamlin was part-taking beyond telling his father the location. Slaughtered is such a strong word, especially considering that Feyre goes on a killing spree to save Rhysand mere pages later, indeed slaughtering her enemies... Then she herself is thinking that Under the Mountain changed both her and Tamlin so much, that they were no longer a good fit for each other and I loved that! Show me more of Feyre actually comparing herself before and after Under the Mountain, how Rhysand treats her and what new role he offers her. Why does Tamlin need to be the root of all evil to justify Feyre's new relationship? And when will he get to heal?
