Nothing I’m about to say will be revolutionary in the slightest but if you’re reading this and you have siblings, especially younger ones, don’t forget to appreciate them when they still want to spend time with you and give you affection bc one day the rapid aging of both of you will hit you like a fucking bus and you won’t be able to go back

do you ever think about ed and stede sleeping in the same bed together every night from now on. they'll never have to wake up alone from another nightmare or cry themselves to sleep with no one to hold them again, or lie awake dreaming of a different life that wouldn't happen for decades yet. they get to cuddle the man they love and fall asleep in his arms every day for the rest of their lives 🥹🩷

they tell you about school and they tell you about work and they tell you about taxes and responsibilities and ideals you have to reach. they don’t tell you about baking chocolate cookies from scratch at the ungodly hours of 11 at night and sitting on your kitchen floor while watching a home decor competition show while you get to munch on a cookie that tastes like the hot chocolate you used to make when you needed a reason to live as a teenager. they don’t tell you about getting to eat another cookie while you think about capturing this moment in a mason jar and shipping it through time to your younger self who gets scared so easily by school and work and taxes and responsibilities and ideals. your younger self who wonders if there’s still comfort, still good things, and if you get to claim them for yourself at some point or if comfort is always a question of dependence. they don’t tell you about that, when for years we do nothing but dream about moments like these

history 101 💛
This was originally just supposed to be me having fun exploring what Ephemer would be like as a teacher but it got a bit out of hand in a good way (but I think I spent way too long on this lol)
Notes:
I wholeheartedly believe that teaching is Eph’s true passion. While writing Overmorrow, I came to realize that his role as a teacher/master is necessary in ensuring that light and the will of the keyblade lives on, but it’s also something he would just genuinely enjoy doing on a personal level. Aside from being able to infodump to his heart’s content (that’s a big deal! 😄), he can also help, inspire, and lead as a teacher! I think if he does actually establish the Keyblade order/academy in canon, it would be his pride and joy
Eph’s actual classroom may not have looked like kh3/dr’s, but I like to believe it was probably similarly designed. (He learned a lot about teaching from Hestia 🥰)
Lyra first appeared here :) the rest of the students are new, I made them up on the spot
my ass could not have handled making Overmorrow as a webcomic

Wilhelm’s heartbreak
Wilhelm’s heartbreak is portrayed in such a raw and genuine way. They didn’t shy away from the pathetic and dramatic parts of it. Him calling his mom, making a scene and threatening to abdicate only because the boy he loves seemed to move on. Him being the one that was left. The frustration of not being able to be with Simon and feeling so powerless in this situation. Not being able to let go or take a step back. His pain making him inconsiderate and self-centered. It’s palpable that he is physically in pain. That it’s consuming him. Him asking to Felice when the pain will fade. The desperation and exhaustion in his eyes. Him wallowing in sadness and putting on the most depressing tracks. Him collapsing on the stairs at the ball after talking to Simon. But also feeling in his guts that he has to renounce cause it takes too much of him. Him carrying the same pain after but a more peaceful and less suffocating one.
One of my favorite lines is probably ‘I feel like I’m gonna die’. Cause it’s true. It does feel like it. And i find it quite rare to show those big and deep feelings, and without any mockery. Especially when it comes to teenagers. Wilhelm’s pain isn’t looked down on or despised because of him being sixteen. Or because of it being about love. Those feelings are real and intense and he is entitled to feel them. That’s one of the strength of Young Royals for me. To represent the teenage years with accuracy of course but particularly to depict it without any judgment or contempt. Characters and their emotions are taken seriously, they are treated with softness and with the desire to show what they feel and experience with care and beauty.
It made me think of Ethan Hawke’s talk about creativity and how art can help you make sense out of your emotions. He says :
‘Somebody breaks your heart, and all of a sudden, you’re desperate for making sense out of this life and to know if anybody has ever felt this bad before’.
It’s expected to be sad after a breakup but not necessarily to experience a sickening devastating excruciating pain. And i love that they decided to show this. A harsh and harrowing heartbreak.

You know perilous trails was a good quest when it singlehandedly improved Xiao’s fanon characterization by at least 50%. It seemed like more people began to realize that Xiao is far less of an edgy tsundere who’s snappy to everyone because he has #issues and far more like this tormented stray cat who stares at you from the secluded corner he won’t leave in the most poorly socialized and tense way imaginable when you try to coax him into approaching you because he is clearly starving and all alone in the rain and cold. He bristles defensively and bats at you if you get too close but every time you walk away and then look back you see he’s discreetly following you and is now staring at you intently from the bushes

Don’t be so nice to me anymore.
Why not?
It’s like you’ve been taking medicine. Because you’re used to it, you never think it’s bitter. But then one day, someone gave you a candy. Because you’ve tasted the sweetness of the candy, the same medicine that you’ve taken before, now will taste too bitter to swallow.

I think envisioning teen Loki to have a nasty mean attitude and a distasteful expression with loud proud emo getup is an objectively funny route to take simply because it implies having gotten over that phase of confidence he suddenly became not just withdrawn and mature but shockingly kind and polite
