Excerpts from dating profiles I swiped left on:
"If you're a white man who's lucky enough to match with me, make sure to bring offerings".
"I heal my ancestral trauma by dominating white men and making them do things that improve the environment."
(These were two different profiles, seen within the space of a day or two.)

Slut Era updates:
Original Feeld man continues to provide fun and quality orgasms.
Had a few dates that didn’t go anywhere.
Two pretty disappointing play dates with the same guy. We actually met through Hinge way back and I decided to give it a chance in this capacity but the actual experience left me wanting.
Over all this has been really fun! I’m not exhausted by the attempts. I’ve enjoyed the change in mindset. I’ve grown sexually. Still have a goal of establishing a regular local play partner.
Upcoming:
Day of fun planned with the original Feeld man.
Plus! A weekend planned with someone new, I’m vvvvvv excited about him.

Queer books, day 21/30
Okay, let's take a detour from romance novels to the world of weird fuckin' poetry.
Tumblr media
I stumbled on this book by accident, because the press that published it (Milkweed Editions) also published a book by my sister-in-law, and when I was ordering it I asked her if there was anything else I should get off the website. You know, for free shipping.
Although I am a poet, I am only tangentially attached to the world of poetry, so I can't say this with any surety, but it does seem to me that transness is something that poetry rarely touches upon. Homosexuality in general, yes--poetry has for sure been super gay since like Gilgamesh (see also Shakespeare, Sappho, Whitman, Wilde, Housman, Auden, I cannot list them all in one parenthetical note). And most poetry is not like Charles's poetry anyway, which uses a Middle English-esque dialect that is Charles's own invention. The play of words and puns she is able to create would certainly make James Joyce ecstatic, but the use of Middle English is an interesting choice that might bear some examination.
Off the top of my head, Middle English started to be a thing at the time of Chaucer--by which I mean that our boy Geoffrey was the first one to write down language the way people were speaking, not that he invented the language or something. So writing in this new/old mode evokes a particular type of creation--not of something de novo necessarily (although the language in feeld is of course new), but of potentially bringing to light themes and ideas that a lot of trans people struggle with, as well as a moment in history when the world is shifting, and being out as a trans person is suddenly a thing people do in a way it wasn't when I was younger.
(To be clear, there have always been trans people. We talk about this in the podcast all the time--see for example this episode's discussion of Brother Marinos and a lot of this episode which talks about Eleno/Elena de Cespedes and the Blind Prophet Tiresias who switched genders and, like, a lot of other episodes. However, trans people didn't organize/discuss their experiences so publicly/as a political class until fairly recently. So the parallel of "everyone was speaking this language but no one wrote it down until now" feels apt.)
Another way this language feels appropriate to this book is the way that it forces an interpretation by the reader--when Charles writes, "i ware / & inn a hiv / u r born", does "hiv" mean "hive"? "HIV"? Can we trust that it will have the same meaning the next time it appears (e.g., "befor the wharing / the hiv")? In a way, this recreates the interpretive act trans people constantly experience when they meet cis people--another thing chronicled by Charles when she writes, "how many/ holes would blede/ befor/ u believ/ imma grl." But here, because the language is Charles's, she always has the reader at an advantage.
Here's a poem that struck me:

Anyway. Poetry! Who knew. You can definitely buy this one from Milkweed Editions, which is a small press and so always in need of/deserving of love. 10/10, go read it.

What app do you use ?
I’ve been on the app feeld. So I have no other like dating app or whatever experience to compare it too, but I’ve been liking it a lot. I think it’s like framed as a more non-monogamy friendly app. I went w trying it out bc of that and it felt like it fit in a bit more to not have a face pic right away.
From chatting w guys, I’ve noticed like a couple different types on there, guys who are doing the ethical non-monogamy thing, bulls, guys being non-ethically non-monogamous, and guys who think the app works well for getting straight to fucking. And all of those can be pretty fun so it’s worked out well for me.

On cliquait vraiment trop bien. Il connaît les paroles des chansons de Weezer. Il baise bien. Il est parti de chez moi quand Le Soleil se levait. Il m’envoie des cœurs et des playlists par texto. Je suis ravie. Nous l’appelleront Le voisin.

I’m case you are wondering, the dating app “Feeld” that is advertised on tumblr was a failed app called “3nder” that had attempted a shitty rebrand.
It’s just tinder with more bots.
Here’s my reply when they asked why I was leaving.

I'm bored aka so here's a list of dating apps I use and my mini reviews:
Feeld - originally the most promising because it's more for polyam people; also the most fun at first. Has since devolved into lots of couples/swingers looking for thirds. Overall as someone who is interested in finding a primary, it hasn't been helpful. 7/10
OKCupid - has excellent identity options but has been paywalling too many features. And not to be mean but everyone I see say they like it best is typically white and a level of nerd that I'm not at. 5/10
Her - so I originally avoided this one because of the name, but this is where a lot of Black trans mascs are in my area which was exciting. The site and interface is cute and I love the banners you can use. But no one reads profiles; and there are too many "no poly" and "no mascs/femmes" comments for me to feel like I belong there. 5/10
Jack'd/Scruff - these are essentially the same cruising app. Like seriously they are exactly the same but color coded lmao. In DC Jack'd (red) has mainly Black queer men and Scruff (blue) has mainly white. I love the tagging system but can't find people in my area using said tags. I bumped it up a point because they're both less overwhelming than Grindr. 4/10
Grindr - has the most trans/non-binary people but finding each other also means opening yourself up to chasers. There's a wild mix on here but I get both the most messages and the most unwanted dick pics. Feels the most chaotic (though apparently Sniffies is worse lmao) but also has a great tagging system. The app also paywalls *a lot* and there are *constant* long ads. I would rate it so much higher without the ads. 3/10
Anywho they all ultimately suck and I hate them but still lurk on them 🤸🏾‍♂️. I'm a sex neutral ace/demi who's kinky af and I have limited time/energy. I look for people who are interested in intentional communication and kink education. I have not found a good app for my needs, at all, and figure I never will lol.
Like, if I was into NSA or FWBs I would be *eating* right now. But since I'm not (and I'm COVID cautious) it's hard as fuck to find good matches. It's all pretty stressful and demoralizing, so I don't take these apps seriously anymore. And they're all fucking paywalled and make us commodity ourselves in ways I'm not comfortable with.
(There are also multiple guides for trans masculine ppl and cruising apps like Jack'd/Scruff/Grindr. They have a lot of possibilities, they just don't work for me right now.)
