World of Horror was another of my favorite games of last year. A wonderful, creepy mix of the roguelike, RPG, and visual novel genres, IMHO.
For more on why I liked World of Horror so much, read the blog post I wrote about my favorite games of 2023.

can someone like explain to me why I like media and I can't explain why I really like it I just really fucking do. like I've been obsessed with ace attorney for 4 years and I literally don't know why. yet I do at the same time. it was the first game I got obsessed with for some reason I love Edgeworth i love the i love the story and the characters gameplay I love the ridiculousness I love the complexity. and in a sense I think its a masterpiece. yet I know most people look past it and don't think much of it or are just like eh its a good game or they like it and move on with it. but not for me. this shit has made itself a home in my head and refuses to get out. why have I made such a strong connection with this media and not any of the other games, movies, or shows that I think are even better than it? is it the nostalgia of it being the first thing I've ever fixated on or like what?? LIKE I GET WHY BUT LIKE ITS NOT A GOOD ENOUGH EXPLANATION. genuinely in my head I think their things incredible more masterful and interesting that I've watched or played (sorry ace attorney) but just why is it still roaming around my head like an actual is there like psychology behind this?? why do we love the things that we do??? yk????

I love the idea of games you can only ever play once. I've only found 1 so far:
Outer Wilds.
This post won't have any spoilers, but if you haven't played it, I'm actually begging you. If you can't or simply don't want to (you do want to), Pirate Software on YouTube has an excellent longplay of the game. Please. If this post doesn't convince you to play it, I've failed as a person.
YAPPING BELOW
In Outer Wilds (not to be confused with Outer Worlds) you play an astronaut from the planet Timber Hearth (You don't play a human, but it doesn't matter. The game would still be the same if you were) taking your first trip into space. Don't worry, it's way easier and nowhere near as stressful as it sounds for now. Your galaxy is tiny, to be honest. You can walk around the entirety of your planet in a few minutes, and the other planets aren't much bigger, but this lends great to the gameplay. Anyways, once you make it to space, you'll probably explore a bit. Probably the Attlerock, your home planets moon, but what's next? Maybe Giant's Deep, the water planet with constant hurricanes. Maybe Brittle Hollow, with a crumbling crust, black hole core, and volcanic moon? Or the Hourglass Twins, orbiting each other and passing a massive amount of sand back and forth? The Dark Bramble is an option, but... Well you'll see. Possibly even The Interloper, the strange comet that happens to be stuck in an awkward orbit around the sun? Whatever you choose, you're on a clock of 22 minutes. Why? Because the sun is exploding of course!
That's right! In 22 minutes from the start, your sun will go supernova, and destroy your galaxy and everything in it. And this game is so batshit in the best way that that isn't even a spoiler, it's just the hook.
"But Ceety," you may be asking, "what makes it so I can only play this game once?"
Well, dear reader, that's because you go back. Every time you die, (with some exceptions) you will be sent back to the beginning of the game, with only your memories leftover. That's it. That's why. Because once you have that knowledge, the game can't and doesn't want to take it from you, ever. You can't play the game through more than once because you can only gain and apply new information you get in every loop once. The game is technically beatable from the first loop. But (unless you've got a tutorial) you won't beat it on the first loop, and that's intentional. Because you're meant to go somewhere, figure something out, run out of time, and then figure something else out. It stacks, until eventually, you've learned enough to make the final round. And you can't get that back. Ever. Once you have played the game through, that's it. Because now, you know everything, and you can't figure it out again.
The puzzles have been solved. It's like the game is asking you "What has 4 legs in the morning, 2 legs in the evening, and 3 legs at night?" and you get to go through the process of figuring out the answer. And when you do, it pats you on the back, and says "Good job kid. I'm proud of you" and gestures to the door. You can ask it to tell you a riddle again, but it's just the same one, with the same answer. You got the experience. And that experience can't be taken from you, but it can't be given again.
I love Outer Wilds.
#2 favorite game.

Video Games To Get To Know Me With!
Really enjoyed this trend that a friend of mine did over on bird app (I refuse to call it "X" on principle), so I figured I'd put my take on it over here! If you see any games on this list that you also enjoy, please let me know! I'd love to geek out with you! ^^
