Fatherhood

We have never seen enough scenes of Hotch with Jack in the show, if you want my opinion.

Well, I think that the begining of his duty as a single father was not easy because Jack barely knew him. They only spent two years together, when Jack was a baby, then the kid grew up mainly with his mother only. After Haley’s death, Hotch has to learn everything about his son: his favorite food, favorite show, favorite color, what he likes, what he dislikes... well, everything. And Jack had to discover who this tall and tenebrous man really was.

I’ve got this headcanon that Hotch is a lame cook. As so, he had many trouble at first to make Jack eat anything. He had to ask to Jessica and his own mother for help (and felt guilty about it), before he decided to just buy stuff from food stores here and there.

He also had to deal with the fact that kids don’t care to be dirty. They don’t care to put water everywhere on the floor of the bathroom or to be covered of flour bakering. Hotch had to learn to give in and to accept that his appartment won’t be perfectly tidy all the time.

Then, even if he had some training with his team, Hotch had to learn patience. Patience when Jack was sick in a middle of the night, crying in his ears when Aaron was searching for medical help for hours. Patience when Jack clearly didn’t want to do his homeworks, his attention always attracted by what was on TV.

Anyway, despite everything. father and son love each other and surely had great times together.

And happy father day to all the fathers, step-fathers and fathers-to-be. :)
