Hello from the Fairy Bridges in Bundoran, Ireland! 🧚‍♂️🌊🇮🇪
Legend says that mortals are able to walk atop these mystical bridges no problem, but should avoid going under the bridges as that’s where the fairies gather. Some even say you can hear and see them if you get too close.
No problem, myths of Ireland. I’ll stay up here. The bridge is wide enough to cross, but my stomach got a little anxious as I’m afraid of heights and had a fear what if the bridge collapsed while I walked over it. There are records of this natural bridge dating back to the 1700s.
There is definitely an energy in this landscape. There was also a rainbow the same day I visited. And it’s full! I’ve never seen a full rainbow before.
Does anyone else think certain places have their own energy?

The Fairy Bridge
The Fairy Bridge is where three rivers and roads converged. Legend has it that a Chief of the MacLeods married a fairy and they lived together on Skye. The fairy was only allowed to be with him for a year, and the bridge marks the site where the fairy departed back to her kind - RoxyC
Simple but effective. Although we didn’t find any fairies, we definitely found a confused elderly lady looking for the fairy pools. We can only hope our directions took her there. -TommyC

"Poor man, you cannot even reconcile what you believe in your heart to be true and what you are obliged to write in the quarterly reviews. Can you go back to London and tell this odd tale? For I think you will find that it is full of all kinds of nonsense that Mr Norrell will not like – Raven Kings and the magic of wild creatures and the magic of women. You are no match for us, for we three are quite united, while you, sir, for all your cleverness, are at war, even with yourself. If ever a time comes, when your heart and your head declare a truce, then I suggest you come back to Grace Adieu and then you may tell us what magic we may or may not do."

So apparently popsicle sticks don't hold up in even the smallest rain, who knew lol! So I had to make all new houses and stuff for my fairy village. 🍄✨ Another pathway to the fae world. ✨🍄
🌱 Sometimes the fairies sit and wait amongst the bluebells, watching you to see if you’ll come to them. The choice is up to you!

So this morning we awoke after the night of debauchery to one of the most beautiful views out of our window at our delightful BnB (An-Airdh B&B) in Portree, Isle of Skye.  The see rose up to meet us lined in back with beautify trees.  Possibly one of the most gorgeous sights I have awakened to since my trip in the monastery in Palermo, Sicily.
We head over to have breakfast.  We meet Alex’s parents Hamie and Katherine.  They are so delightful.  Warm and loving.  We are all bundled up for the day before us, but I feel I will be extra warm due to porridge made for me by Katherine.  We finish up and are off for the day of hiking I have before us.
Our first hike is the Old Man of Storr.  It is about a 45 degree angle hike, so very nearly straight up, but you are very much rewarded with breathtaking views, Scotland’s never ending sheep supply and some beautiful, “heilan’ coos.”  Legs wobbly from our first and what turns out to be our most challenging hike, we head out to find Kilt Rock/Mealt Falls.
Kilt Rock/Mealt Falls.  The falls are explanatory.  The Kilt Rock name however comes from the kilt like pleat in the stone.  It is another geological mystery.  Actually not a mystery, there is science around it that I don’t understand, but much like the rest of Scotland that seems to believe in magic and fairies, I’m inclined to believe the romantic side.  I mean… their national animal is aptly a unicorn.
We head out to what we hoped would be the Quairaing, but ultimately any parking for this time of the day had already been had.  So we head up to Uig to go to Kilmuir Cemetery to visit the cemetery of famed Jacobite sympathizer Flora McDonald, but for me it is to pay my respects to one of my favorite designers to every live, Lee “Alexander” McQueen.  His final resting place, on a cliff in the town of Uig, is a beautiful final setting for him.  For his life of chaos, depression and drug use he seemingly has found calm in this seaside haven.
Next stop, the Isle of Skye Brewery.  This place was fantastic.  I bought a new sweatshirt to replace my very wet one, a case of beer for a friend and myself and then on our way to the Fairy Glen.  Now the Fairy Glen is indescribable.  It is nature made, but legitimately looks like a Glen for fairies.  Getting to it is a bit of a task (the most insane of the single track road to date), but we manage and eventually begin to look for a parking spot.  We manage, but not without some advice from a purple haired maven wearing all purple.  Perhaps a fairy herself?  Who knows?  It is so peaceful here.  We climb around and take in the beauty.  It is here I start understanding Tammy’s penchant for fairies.
Now while I keep mentioning all the beautiful locations, I would be remiss in not noting that everywhere we drive is a beautiful location.  While the things I mention here have names, ultimately we have driving everywhere today with a view of water, mountains, sheep, and everything that is stereotypical Scotland in stereotypical beauty.  The Isle of Skye is legitimately a living postcard, one that is best experiences rather than looked at in pictures.  The scope is something you can never capture in pictures no matter how hard you try.  It is simply magical and spectacular.  Must be those faries.
We head out and try our hand at the Quiraing again.  We manage to find parking and then star our trek.  As we were just at Storr earlier that morning, we decide to go north.  Now the Quairaing is not as challenging as Storr, but the view is unlike anything I’ve seen before.  Mountains fall into hills, then glens, then lochs, eventually making its way out to sea.  We hike around for a while.  I nearly fall off the side at one point.  It isn’t the worst way to go and I would have been happy should I have met my demise this way.  We walk, eventually stopping at a deep crevice.  We go back and forth on whether or not to try to traverse it.  It is wet, slippery and one missed step you will definitely have a broken ankle.  Since Storr has done a number on our quads and hamstrings we opt out for this.  We instead decide to call it a day and look for something to eat on the Eastern Border.  We find a fairy bridge along the way and end up settling in.
We head out to the Stein Inn, the oldest inn on the Isle of Skye, for a quick dinner.  Located on the Waternish Peninsula it is noted that it is where Skye meets the sky.  We get to take this in with a breathtaking sunset on Loch Bay.  I have soup and a beer x2 while Tammy imbibes on more cider.  And as the sun has set we finally make our way back to our BNB where I continue to enjoy the Isle of Skye’s delicious flavor with the gift set of beer I bought for a friend.  J  Oops.
We finally tuck in and say good night.  Our bodies are beaten not broken and we look forward to the next day, but for now, much needed rest.
