𝗪𝐇𝐘 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐄𝐗𝐄𝐑𝐂𝐈𝐒𝐄 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐃𝐀𝐘⁠ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ So before people jump in the comments about rest days and overtraining, there is a difference between exercise and training.⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ Training should not be done every day and does require rest, but training also counts as part of your exercise. ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ Exercise is anything from walking the dog, to physical work in your job, to deadlifting 200kg. ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ There are so many benefits to exercising regularly and simply getting your 10k steps a day does come in to that. Although its classed as Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis, there isn't a clear line of what constitutes exercise from activity and even training at times. ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ Of course walking 10,000 steps is a form of exercise especially when you do it with purpose. Health professionals from Spain and Auckland visited the exercise clinic at Genesis Cancer Care to see how we run things as part of their tour with ECU’s Exercise Medicine Research Centre. I gave them an enthusiastic spiel and they asked questions. I am always aware of how much there is to learn but I do get a kick out of passing on my growing knowledge and insights in this area 💪😊👍.

Towel bunching⁣ ⁣ - Place a towel in front of a chair⁣ - Sit on the chair and place your foot flat on the towel⁣ - Grip the towel by using your toes and pull the towel towards your heel⁣ - Spread the towel back out⁣ - Repeat the exercise a few times and on the other foot.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 2.      Seated Calf Raise⁣ ⁣ -          Place your feet flat on the floor with your knees bent, while sitting on a chair.⁣ -          Lift your heels off the floor while keeping your toes on the floor⁣ -          Hold this position and squeeze your calf muscles for approximately 4 seconds.⁣ -          Relax your legs and repeat steps again.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 3.      Barefoot walking/running⁣ ⁣ -          Check your space before you start. Make sure there are no obstructions on the floor (such as glass, rocks, etc.)⁣ -          Walk/run barefoot for approximately 7 minutes a few times a week.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 4.      Resistance band – Plantar flexion⁣ ⁣ -          Sit on a chair and place the resistance band under your toes⁣ -          Move your toes into the resistance band.⁣ -          Hold for approximately 5 seconds⁣ -          Repeat the exercise a few times and on the other foot.⁣  ⁣ ⁣ 5.      Calf Raises⁣ ⁣ -          Stand in an open area.
