How to Develop a Strong mindset to Get Fit At Home: 1.     Change your mindset from cardio to Strength train! Get rid of the “I must do more cardio” mentality to lose weight. Strength training burns more calories in the long run than cardio! Plus to feel that cardio feeling, just add movement exercises to your home strength circuits! (You might be thinking, “I at least need one machine to do my cardio”. You’d be surprised at what a great cardio you can get with a kettlebell, Bosu, or a TRX!) 2.     Get a workout buddy! Your partner, children, or one of your best bud- your pooch! 3.     Make a new music mix and make every other song fast paced to bump up your workout intensity! 4.     Purchase a LRF home workout program so you can stay on track of your goals and seeing and feeling the difference of all your hard work! www.lisareedfitness.com
Cheers to rocking the fit life all in the comfort of your own home! https://www.amazon.com/shop/lisareedfitness

Master the top excuses for not working out!
Tumblr media
We’ve all the heard the excuses people have for why they can’t or don’t work out. Some are legitimate reasons, others are the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever heard. But according to fitness expert, Lisa Reed, you have to move every day. It’s not negotiable. Especially with Summer swimsuit season here, exercise can be key in helping reduce stress and help avoid adding extra pounds from goodies laying around the home or office.
Master the top excuses here:
Excuse #1:  “I’m too exhausted.”
Working out will rev you up! Once you start working out your fatigue will disappear!
Exercise releases endorphins-feel good hormones and circulation improves which equals more energy!
Excuse #2: “I don’t have time, I am too busy"
Make exercise a priority.  It must become a habit.
Incorporate it into weekly lunch time or morning routine.
Start small-example, my 7 minute Reed-iculously Fit DVD circuit training workout.
Excuse #3: “I hurt too much”
Tools to help muscle soreness: Light cardio, Foam roll, Stretch, Ice…. for more tips, contact Lisa!
Excuse #4: “I have kids and a family-life gets in the way.”
Wake up before them
Work out with them! Lisa’s DVD, fitness video games, hiking, etc
EXCUSE #5:  "It seems impossible to make the commitment or stick to an exercise regimen!”
Set small daily goals: It is as easy as taking the stairs, packing your lunch, or even calling a friend to walk!
Plan ahead so it’s in your schedule and you won’t skip it!
It is time to forget about the pressure to lose weight and learn to enjoy workout out. The result of being fit and losing weight will come. Learn to enjoy how it makes you feel.( And usually when you workout you want to eat more healthy!)
Excuse #6: “You are not feeling like it”
Whether you are sore, sick, you went out the night before, menstrual cramps or even pregnant, learn tips to keep you motivated to workout! Just modify it! :)
Sick? If it above neck you are ok for light exercise!
Injured? Work out another body part!
Experiencing menstrual cramps? Exercising will reduce symptoms and release toxins making you feel better!
Sometimes when you don’t feel good and just start doing a light jog or a set of push-ups your mood shifts and you will be happier that you did! You got this! The time is now! Have a great day from Lisa & Team LRF!

Use a Dynamic Warm-Up to Boost your Workout!
Tumblr media
Warming up should be a given in anyone’s pre-workout routine. Typically you hop on the treadmill, bike, or elliptical for 5 to 10 minutes to increase your heart rate and get blood flowing to your muscles. You might even perform a few static stretches for those muscles that seem extra tight.  Sure, that’s better than not doing any warm-up at all, but there is a much more effective way to prepare for your workout and see better results. Move over treadmill, it’s time to get dynamic!
Athletes have used dynamic warm-ups for decades. If you’ve ever attended a football, basketball or baseball game and arrived a little early, you might have seen the players literally hopping, skipping and jumping across the court or field. The movement patterns and exercises performed in a dynamic warm-up are drastically better than just going for a jog. The goal of a warm-up is not just to get the body warm, but invigorate your mind to to fire up and activate and warm-up all of the muscles and joints in your body to reduce the risk of injury and be more efficient in your workout and allowing for peak performance.
For example, if you are going to go for a run, you might just start jogging to warm-up. But, jogging doesn’t warm up specific muscles needed to perform your best run. You need to elevate your core temperature and activate your nervous system to prepare the muscles and joints to increase flexibility, to improve your stride frequency and your stride length. For example, if you do not warm-up and dynamically stretch your hip flexors and activate your glutes and hamstrings, you could be overcompensating as you run putting more work on your hips, resulting in IT tightness which can lead right to the infamous “runners knee” injury.
When your body has a chance to recruit more muscle, muscle fibers as well the flexibility in your joints for any workout, you are better able to generate maximal power, in turn increasing performance. You can prepare your muscles by training your brain by waking up the neuromuscular system. Your brain needs to send signals to your tissue and synovial fluid in order for your muscles to move in the correct patterns. Performing specific mobility drills allows your mind to tell your muscles to get ready for the movements in your workout!
Most runners, athletes and lifters are able to maintain their strength, but they easily lose their mobility.  Performing mobility and flexibility drills through sport movement patterns in a dynamic warm-up will allow your body to overcome muscular imbalances and maintain overall fitness. You will not only increase your core temperature and improve muscle activation, but you will also improve your range of motion. This helps you perform better and prevent injury during your workout.
Exercise selection is key! Each exercise you do affects a specific muscle. Neglecting any critical muscles in your dynamic warm-up can hinder your performance. Therefore, every dynamic warm-up should have at least one exercise for each part of your body.
One Example of a Dynamic Warm-up: (20 yards each) Total Time: 10 to 15 minutes
Light Skip Quick Skip High knee run Butt kicks Frankenstein walk to hip swing Cariocas Knee Hugs Lunge Reach to Plank Lunge Reach Side Lunges Inch worm (with push-up) Arm Circle Skips Ankle Flips
Stationary: Glute Bridges Hard Style Plank Y’s Lying Rotations on back Lying Rotations on stomach
If you are short on time, try this 7-minute dynamic warm up that is effective AND time efficient:
A dynamic warm-up is a small investment that will get your muscles fired up to help you make the most of your workout! Performing these simple exercises will improve your performance and prevent the risk of injury!
Lisa Reed has used dynamic warm-ups with her professional athlete clients, as well as the athletes at the University of Florida and The Naval Academy. Lisa has continued to implement dynamic warm-ups with all of Team LRF’s personal, group and boot camp clients. Contact Lisa today!
