grian wing headcanons? dont mind if i do!

grian, when the watchers first "gave" him (forced upon him) his wings, they gave him wings of clay. they did this on pirpose, but told grian otherwise. they said it was his fault, that his greed was still within him, and that as long as his wings reflected this, he would never be a true watcher.

when grian left the watchers, and joined hermitcraft season 6, his wings changed, as he was no longer in his watcher "form". despite this, his core being (and code) had still changed, and his (formerly) human form now had wings (as well as some other "watcher" traits.

at the beginning of s6, grian's wings were mostly white, but to them still clung the odd, cold, uncomfortable, and not-quite-real purple of the watchers' influence. (many mistook the color of the purple-gray of a standard enchanted elytra, an assumption that grian leaned into.)

as s6 progressed, the purple slowly began to fade, his wings warming into a full, rich, and healthy white. (at one point, they almost looked like sun-kissed sand.)

during the a77 vs hippies arc, grian's wings darkened somewhat into a mossy stone gray, with flowers and mushrooms growing in them.

in s7, grian's wings became almost like the stereotypical parrot wings he is frequently drawn with, but with red, yellow, and green feathers, and no blue.

during the mycelium resistance arc, those colors faded, overtaken by odd, gray-purple fungus. when the resistance was over, his "parrot" colors returned.

he kept the false parrot coloration in 3rd life, although his wings were too small to actually use, especially without elytra. as he lost his lives, his wings lost color, going from red-yellow-green, to red-yellow, to pure red. when he died, although his body wasn't there for long before the world began to reset, sending him and all the other contestants home, his wings faded into a dull, lifeless gray. not the gray of stone, not even really the gray of death, but rather the gray of unlife.

s8, grian's wings returned, at first, to their not-parrot coloration. as boatem progressed, his wings darkened to match the dragon egg, the void, and the star-speckled skies, that of the server and of midnight alley.

as the moon grew closer, grian's wings brightened menacingly, a pale glow overtaking the speckling of stars and the dark purple-blue of of the space between. when grian jumped into the boatem hole with his friends, his wings had been entirely eclipsed with the moon's light.

s9. the light of the moon softened and warmed, back to a almost neutral, sun-kissed sand white. until he discovered/built the Entity, and they darkened into an odd stone-flesh gray, once again growing moss, among other things. like this, at least while on the hermitcraft server, his wings have remained.

during his time on empires, grian's wings returned to their not-parrot coloring, but seemed to shimmer with golden sunlight.

grian's wings in his "watcher" form, should he ever return to it, have remained clay all this time.

Grian: Finally we're on the last one. I've officially been going at this for 10 minutes now. You know what? I'm gonna give this angel a piece of my mind. Actually, having said that, the statue at spawn was also a woman and that one is also a woman with wings. So I'm starting to think that the Watchers depict themselves as angels but whether they actually are I don't know? But they seem to be definitely female.

wait wait please elaborate the storyline for if he agreed to become a watcher, PLEASE!! I actually kinda want to dive into that idea.. i hadnt heard of the theory before, why did he agree? when did he? what was it like after? did he know anything about the watchers?

oh man, I'll try my best, its been awhile since i've watched Evo, and words are not my friends !

Grian knows about the Watchers, they were a common occurrence in Evo, the portals, the pranks, the traps, and the symbols were normal in his day-to-day.

He was their favourite even, gifting him a diamond, in a chest full of coal, a diamond in the rough, in their many eyes. I'm not sure if he knew this though.

I do think at his core, he has a Watcher's personality. He pranks people, he sets traps, he leaves symbols even of his own face, he makes secret bases under other's bases so he can watch them, he likes spying. They must've taken notice of this.

Its not actual lore, but Taurtis makes fun of Grian multiple times for talking to the Audience, which, fourth wall, is us! But I like the idea of it being story, its the Watchers, already leading him down this path from the beginning, hes so promising ! Taurtis calls them the voices in his head, Grian doesn't argue, "Are the voices in your head telling you that?" "Hm..... No, the voices don't even know, its a secret!" The voices, the audience, the watchers, all the same thing. Grian says he's meant to be the hero of the story.

Anyway, Grian meets the Watchers after the server all teams up and slays the dragon, they reach the End. He is 25 years old.

The portal leads him somewhere different than everyone else, everyone else goes home. He goes beyond the credits, who knows where it spawns him, but it doesn't matter, he's being offered a deal, a chance to ascend.... I don't know the exact reason he'd agree, but I'm leaning towards a selfish reason, he's gotten bored with his limitations, he wants to be better, do better, those updates.. They're enticing and he's envious, in the beginning he was punished for being greedy, but now he's being rewarded.

After ? I guess he just lives with the Watchers, in an End city somewhere ? Learning how to craft portals by hand, update ideas, watching players, pranks, traps, symbols, fun ! its fun ! hes having fun !

He starts growing wings ! Its not really fun anymore !! That was the one thing they didn't tell him about, not directly, he agreed to be a Watcher, he clicked his heels and said I wanna be a watcher, but he didn't understand it meant really becoming one physically, yknow, it could've been a title! a role he's meant to play !

I write two paths from this point. 1) He runs away from the Watchers and ends up in Hermitcraft, still with those brilliant white wings.

2) He just sticks with it, creature mode, he grows wings, it sucks, but things can be fun again, back to it, he grows talons, it hurts, but still, he spends his time digging through servers and player lists, he grows two more eyes and feathers peek through his skin. He's 25 years old, he likes pranks, and traps, and symbols. This is more the bad end friends version LOL that I use for fanart fun.

Thats, all the storyline ? That I draw ? Its nothing crazy, just a tinyyyy bit more than canon . My version, my theory, my boy !!

But at the end of the day, regardless, I do think the Watchers genuinely love him, maybe in the way you love a puppy and give them treats when they sit and be quiet, but they're extremely fond of him.

Evo SMP/Life Series Relationship Web

This does dip a bit into Empires and Hermitcraft but I tried to not focus on that.

The types of relationship portrayed, color coded for my sanity

Parent & Sibling are pretty self explanatory

Soulmate - Double Life Soulmate. Allows for both Assigned Soulmates and Chosen Soulmates and does not indicate the exact flavor of the soulmate relationship at all.

Partner - Primarily indicates some level of romantic relationship but also allows for Canon Typical Ambiguity

Platonic Partners - Partnerships that are enough aligned as platonic that I felt comfortable assigning them here. There’s only like. Two of these.

It’s Complicated - Aka “fuck if I know” aka “???” Boils down to “there is Something Wrong with these people and I don’t know that it can be labeled with any fewer than three categories, some of which are mutually exclusive” Covers a wide range of actual relationship flavors but I ran out of colors and so couldn't get any more specific than this.

Desert Duo are both Assigned Soulmates and also What The Fuck??? Because look at them.

Smajor and ZombieCleo are both Chosen Soulmates and also Platonic Partners on account of having what I'm pretty sure is the only positive relationship to survive all four Life Games without a single backstabbing or betrayal and all the murder being 100% consensual.

Smajor and InTheLittleWood get both Partners and What the Fuck??? because i stared at them for a solid five minutes trying to decide.

BigBSt4tz2 & Pearlescentmoon ended up on opposite sides of the web somehow but pls know that they have a What the Fuck??? line connecting them, I just really didn't want to draw that over the whole thing.

Similarly, Impulse and Bdubs are on different sides (Impulse as part of "Tango's Polycule") pls imagine their soulmate line as well.

"Smajor's Harem of Husbands" consists of (as of Smajor's list after MCC30) HBomb, Whisp, FireBreathMan, and Milo (NPC from Witchcraft SMP) Solidarity gets to be individually listed because he’s one of the integral parts of the web at large

I am absolutely open to conversation on any and all of these points and any others.

I started with the Evo Squad as a group for this one. Instead of the Evo Sibling Squad. All Evo SMP members are also now underlined in Orange

First of all,I headcannon that there are watchers,listeners and speakers

I also headcannon that there are 3 types of watchers.The normal watchers,the runaway watchers(same species)and a subset of watchers,the viewers.

As the name suggests,the viewers are us.The viewers (a.k.a everyone who I headcannon as a watchers chat)also appear as eyes.However unlike watchers the eyes are all different.Some are more square some circular,some have lashes some don't that kinda stuff.

There are the mouths(speaker equivalent of viewers)and the ears(listener equivalent of viewers)some mouths are red,some wear lipstick,some don't.Somd ears wear earrings,some dont

I just had the weird lack of sleep idea of ‘Watcher Grian joins Hermitcraft’ but make it like ‘Oli Orionsound introduction to Empires’. (That probably seems weirder put into words than it did in my head but bare with me)

But basically the same way that Saint Pearl caused Oli to jump into the world of Empires, Watcher Grian and Watcher Pearl are just chillin in the Watchers domain talking about things and Grian is just like “I wish I could join Hermitcraft” and Pearl is just like “well if you want to join Hermitcraft then join Hermitcraft” and pushes him off the end island that is the Watchers domain and he falls into Hermitcraft season 6 and into the ocean right off the spawn island where all the Hermits are gathered and Xisuma is just like “oh there’s our new Hermit welcome Grian to Hermitcraft” and chaos ensues

What if when Grian was put in witness protection after Yandere High School, he had been given a new name, Xelqua? What if the person who gave it to him was a Watcher who had taken an interest in him, choosing to follow him? What if he had been given a grave with the name Grian on it? What if none of the Hermits knew, not even Pearl, as by the time Evo started it was safe for him and Taurtis to go by their original names? What if Etho was the only one to know because he lived in Japan and saw a grave with the name Grian? btw im Not Normal about how i think c!grian and tommy would get along. because we have the pre-collab assumptions and the collab interactions, which were with the cc rather than c, but is there nonetheless .

like i have talked about this LONGGG ago like pre-november 16th events, long ago, but . okay so i think they are ALMOST found-family insufferable brothers

like. Grian is a biiiit standoffish from Tommy, however he meets them in any au, but still does his Grian thing. there's three ways Grian usually is when it comes to big personality people. get along like a house fire while also torturing them lovingly (scar, bdubs), start war everyday of their life (doc), or are baffled of (joe) . i think he teeters between the second and third one with Tommy

but it's hard to say because of the BIG DIFFERENCE between different era of tommy. pre-exile and post-exile tommy are. big changes.

i think pre-exile tommy, would grate Grian a bit. The yelling, the stealing of riches, he's probably a bit in-your-face and gets into your personal space, something that i feel like can only be initiated by Grian for him to be comfortable with, and so on . Grian would one-up him, find small ways to make him pay back for damages and the like, maybe avoid.

post-exile tommy, Grian would egg on a bit. probably quite literally, give Tommy an inventory of eggs and send him on a task to devourer someone's base in chickens. Tommy would be more standoffish, a lot more tired, paranoid, hoarding small things and hiding in mines. any base he would have would probably be some hole in the wall he found in a corner of a giant megabase. Grian would give him chests of iron axes, pickaxes, etc, that he'd collect from leveling up villagers. Tommy would never use them, but he'd appreciate it.

i loveee Grian a lot but overall, BUT since it's me, and im . ill . and am considering the overall lore of Grian's character through multiple series, i don't think my interpretation of Grian would really be the main pillar of support for Tommy. they're to similar, yet clashing if considering yhs-evo-hc history for c!Grian, i think he would be reminded WAY to much of himself if he saw post-exile Tommy. He'd be alarmed and off-putted by pre-exile Tommy in the beginning, but would be able to adapt to him and see the soft, fun and supportive nature of him. post-exile he could get along with and care about, but i don't think could be the one to help him .

more stuff on my exiled watcher!grian au that i made arbitrarily right now

i'll call it something cooler later, but anyways

grian who became a watcher for about 10 seconds before he decides that he is going to Troll Everyone, which includes:

inducing watcher-on-watcher hatecrimes (naturally, by using his powers to frame people)

feigning incompetence so he doesn't have to do anything, and then immediately doing The Thing when it's no longer needed

being a General Nuisance (hence the title pesky bird)

revealing his Watcher form to mortals he doesn't like because it drives them insane and he thinks its incredibly funny

other watchers tried pranking him back by making his wings ridiculously colorful (hence parrot wings) only for him to go "this is great!!!"

watchers eventually got very sick of his shenanigans, and decided that whatever Divine Punishment they come up with will probably backfire like everything else. so they just kind of. cast him down to hermitcraft and went 'not our problem anymore lmaoaoaoao'

(they probably plan to take him back once he calms down. that will not happen)

queue xisumavoid who is about to become very tired very quickly because this fallen god has the energy and impulse control of a two-year-old and just enough power to not immediately die from it.

grian who arguably gets worse because now people play along with his pranks!!! i mean, he can't put them in mortal danger anymore because apparently humans think it is Not That Funny but he has other things he can do!! and they aren't kicking him out for it!!

grian who isn't actually a complete little shit all the time and only put up that front to annoy the watchers because it was funny. who's actually chill most of the time (unless there's a war to be had)

Minecraft World Building

This is a really big post 😄

Need to add: Q'ing items and multiple item selection: pro/mana. Tech-magic. Explanation of admin training and becoming a for personal use (FPU) admin. Crafting. Magic. Non Minecraft specific items. End;

Player code: Head Canon equivalent of human genetics but with tech-magic differences.

Belts: every player spawns/joins with a belt around their waist but not everyone keeps it that way, some have it slung over their shoulders, Chest Symbol and Comm near their offhand's hip. While others have their Comms on their belts and Chest Symbol on a necklace. One thing common through it all is keeping their chest symbols near to their offhand to unlock it as efficiently as possible.

Home servers: home servers are servers that MCYT's either got popular from playing on them or servers fans have found they played on before getting popular, it varies. An example would be that Evo is Grian, Martyn, Netty, Jimmy, Bigb and Pearl's home server.

Main hub: main hub can sometimes be a secret word for earth;

An example of this would be: Mumbo was on holiday exploring far away places in the main hub.

Or it can mean a place were all of the servers, private worlds and creative places converge and looks like an overworld nether hud equivalent, some unfortunate players joining's happen here. And still other times it's a secret word for the Minecraft launcher.

Players: Every Player's Joining is random, some join the main hub, some join from private worlds and some have home servers, but every player spawns with two items and a belt; a communicator or Comm and a small symbolic chest the size of a ring box, an Inventory; they are always strapped to your belt when you respawn, always uniquely connected to your player code. Some Modded worlds have symbolic chests with near infinite space while in some other more vanilla worlds these ring boxes are locked or kept (this helps younger, less experienced players learn stress free or in death games like in LL and SL);

Comms: All players learn pretty quickly that your Comm lets you join worlds and servers from all over the world, connect to each worlds universal chat or to individual players (this depends on the server/worlds code, player preferences and main hub rules);

Inventory: (doesn't have an inbuilt mirror and crafting is done outside, it's purely storage) While the ring boxes take a little while longer to be proficient at using: They never open but you always remember whats inside them in the back of your mind; they only have room for 36 things, and yet somehow break that rule if your stuff matches but only for some things and when end magic is involved, shulker boxes again break that rule. Really good players are super efficient at using their inventories (the blue words are contact hands.) Most players are faster with using their Main hand mostly because there's a caveat with the Inventory. One rule, one handicap, the only way it works: one hand has to be in contact with the chest on your belt at all times while retrieving or storing, all the other hand has to do is be free for retrieving and full for storing.

Transfering items and sorting player inventory is all done through and with player code.

Key Binding:

Main hand contact and think F and Bam off hand shield, Bam off hand torches, Bam off hand totem.

Offhand contact and think 1 through 9 and their Main hand flits though tools, weapons, food, buckets of water or materials for building, things that are for a specific craft or coiled Redstone wires, circuits and small helpful machines.

Fact: Once the items are out of your inventory you have free rein over were you have them on you, juggling can be done without F, it's only use is for directly getting things out of your Inventory into your off hand, whichever hand that may be.

Rearranging/Sorting your inventory is done in a similar way, just make contact with your belt chest either with your Main hand or Offhand and rearrange your internal storage as much as you'd like.

Remember: It's kind of like being able to drive manually; Contact, thought and the ever present image of what you've got with you.

Offhand Contact: Most people use the 1 through 9 method, some don't you can easily recode it with your Comm after some personal use-admin training.

Both: You can rearrange your inventory with Off hand contact and Main hand contact (basically like pressing E).

Main Hand Contact: The most you can really do is retrieve things to your off hand.

Emptying and repacking your inventory to and from chests.

Chests are large strong boxes with secure convex lids and you cannot transfer items from them through player code.

Shulker boxes are boxes made with shulker shells, void crafting and end magic, the only way to use them is to transfer items through player code.

Most players use off hand contact to empty and pack their inventory.

Example: Grian's left hand unlocked his inventory and he started pulling out all the junk he didn't want cluttering his mind, packing the chest as fast as his brain and right hand could go. Grabbing his rocket box Unlocking it with his right hand he transferred two stacks of rockets through his code from his right hand to his left, from the shulker box to inventory.

How to fill a shulker box from a chest

One: Use Redstone it's OP.

Two: Open a chest grab something with one hand and transfer it though your player code to your other hand which is unlocking your shulker box.

Tip: Stuff transfers faster if you hold it like you would hold a rock you're about to skim and throw it as if into yourself for receival transfering, else just throw it into a chest as soon as it in your hand.

I was iffy about your depiction of Grian at first but I think I've come to enjoy how you and others portray him. A child, a pet, a dog. It's an interesting portrayal that has me wanting more, you know?

Every time you post about him or answer an ask to do with what I mentioned, I lean forward and get invested. It's so fun to read what you have to say about this side of Grian and what others have to say as well.

oh mannn thank u haha, i am pretty nervous about this portrayal honestly LOL, it feels like a very careful balance...... i am concerned abt people misunderstanding me and my drawings/writing.

I don't usually see people write the Watchers as Beings beyond just evil death games, so i rly wanted to explore that myself, and see how life would be for Grian after joining.

They're not evil on purpose, they're just different. Aliens? Angels? Having the power to touch the very code of reality makes you forget how fragile some things are.

Regardless, they do love Grian, they don't mean to treat him like a child, but hes so young compared to them, so small, its automatic, instinctual almost. He shows so much potential, its something to protect and nurture.

I don't want him to suffer forever of course, its just backstory, a cautionary tell, if you will?
