Much like with Steddie, I fell for this pairing sight as yet unseen. I’ve never watched The Sandman. Never listened to the audiobook(s). Never read the comics. But someone posted cute fanart. And dammit, I am weak.

Y’all know gender fuckery is one of those fic subgenres I adore, and I feel like this fandom/pairing is particularly well-suited for it. Just the fact that endless, ethereal beings could have gender at all (Desire notwithstanding) is pretty interesting. And Dream trying to be something else, only for it to be just… wrong wrong wrong, ugh. My little Enby/Gender-Fluid heart just breaks for him. Because I know that feel. I’m sure a lot of us know that feel, even if we are only squishy humans and not Endless. Also I love the Author’s note at the end. Definitely shouldn’t be that hot of a take - it makes perfect sense to me!

Dream is absolutely precious in this, in his gender conflicted glory. And Hob. Hob Motherfucking Gadling. I am officially crowning him as my Sandman Blorbo. That man is a saint. He certainly has the patience of one, at least. The care he shows to Dream in this fic is just everything. When his first concern when he finds Dream after their… encounter(?) is if Dream is okay, if he hurt Dream… I cannot. And I love that, despite him being several hundred years old (and Dream being several millennia), their communication skills still need work, lol. They may be an immortal human and the immortal personification of Dreams, but they really are just like us.

This is a beautiful story.

Next Week: Spacedogs time again! And this one’s a doozy. I mean, with how obsessed with space Adam is, canonically even, it somehow makes absolutely perfect sense to have an AU where Nigel is an alien, right? It’s soft, romantic, slightly silly, and sexy as hell.

okay i think i’m alone in my shiv take LOL i’m going to hush up for a while and see what people are saying and think on the ending some but right now i just… do not understand the last 30 or so minutes from shiv’s perspective and the last 10 are downright baffling. trying very hard not to feel like succession just 180’d everything that’s been good about the shiv writing this season (and in general but esp this season) but every time i think ab the last tomshiv scene my stomach turns grotesquely

one of the things that gets me about fanon lens - especially when you entrench yourself so much in a fan version of a character - is how a character can just slowly be stripped of what they are and who they are because of the self referential nature of fanworks (which isn't inherently bad, don't misunderstand; neglected characters can have new life breathed into them)

which is a long way of getting to: where did people get the idea that estinien's not one to talk, or is bad at effectively talking? I don't mean selectively mute hcs, i mean just very curt. like he's not as flowery as many of the scions or even compared to aymeric, but he's still dramatic and talks a lot. he's precise when he needs to be and extremely blunt, but just because of that doesn't mean he won't ramble

like his whole tangent about where he is today because of the wol right before the Dead Ends in Ultima Thule. his chattiness seems to fluctuate with how comfortable he is with someone, so i'm not really sure where "estinien's bad with words" came from?

he's no politician, but he's good at saying what needs to be said and saying it in a way that matters. yes, there is the whole aymeric thing but avoiding a difficult conversation rooted in guilt isn't the same as being bad at talking. he clearly knows how to get to people - especially to antagonize them into action (see: tiamat, azdaja) - so where did this come from?

it's kinda funny how it took me a rewatch to get really warmed up to the idea of frenchie x kimiko as a ship and then i watched the episode with the kiss and liked it, just to find out that the writers wrote in that 'to state it was weird for the audience because it's weird for them' or something???

#produce #memes my own ab story #ive been working on this story for the better part of 2 years lol. but oniw when i say 'working on' its in the 'in my head' story #i dont know why but my brain just doesnt let me do stuff unless its in its completion #luckily this story is almost completed lol #i decided to think about it in a 3 seasons with 25 episodes each type of way. Since the astro uran ochan and tenma are the MAIN characters #their arks through each seasons works better. each season has a theme that they work through. Tenmas is probably the most easy to guess #but i did have to tweak ochans character ALOT for my story. a mix of atb and yadda yadda... #erm yeah #it started out as a joke but i developed shadow too much and just went 'fuck it. we're making it its own syory' #the main thing with this project was that i wanted to work with tenmas character in a different way. hes not the main antag overall but #just for S1. i wont say much about it atm because i do have a general idea of how ill this story #not a comic or a fanfic but in a series of drawings/animatics. music heavily inspired me in this story so i have many video ideas #i just need to learn how lol #ANYWAY #/slaps the title/ this bad boy gets two corruption arks and tenma being beat up and physically scared (shot) #idk y im talking about this now but since im not posting art atm ill just allude to things #for the most part all the characters follow 03 but somethings are different and i tweaked some designs to fit the aesthetic i have going #but yeah! over time ill be making short dumb videos to get used to it so i can make story animatics. a warning i should add #most of the audio for my videos will be from musicals lmaooo. i listen to alot of music at work so much time to flesh out things #augh
