Advice on how to achieve aesthetically pleasing gameplay photos!

UPDATED: 4/22/2024

I made this post earlier today and people were interested in the comments! Which made me more excited to make this post~

this is just some advice from me! this isnt a tutorial or anything of that sort, but I will be linking some things that could be helpful for editing gameplay! :D

First things first, I want to say that I use a graphics overhaul, lighting mods check my resources page for what reshade i use if ur interested.

Now we can move on to the advice!

I love the simple style of gameplay editing so much, but for me I love creating an ambience with my posts and put the audience inside of my gameplay. I also enjoy storytelling with gameplay more than just the "usual" gameplay post (when it comes to me). I am currently playing the globetrotter challenge with my sim Daichi. I really went all out with the editing for that gameplay. For this one its very much a virtual collage of my sim doing things. Trying new things and getting inspired by others is always fun and cool! Remember when u do take inspo: link to the inspiration and @ the simmer that inspired u!!

In my other save (my cozy save) I also take creative liberties there.

its more of a cozy vibe & silent story-telling (storytelling w/o the dialogue). for my cozy save i take inspiration from @/stellarfalls. er gameplay really helped me find my niche thing in the way i play the game tbh!

Angles/Screenshots

When you're taking your screenshots, angles are important. Depending on the shot, you're putting emphasis on a specific thing. This post is very helpful and talks about different types of angles/shots and what they mean. Check it out especially if you want to play around with the way you take screenshots!

Reshade

If I want to create a moody or dreamy ambience I can use reshade. Looking for a reshade that will fit the overall vibe is a must or you can make your own~

i know not everyone is able to use reshade because they're not on windows. I highly recommend using photoshop actions to create that ambience you're looking for.

*These can be used in photopea, but it cant read topaz clean. If you want to achieve topaz clean in photopea, check this post out! just something i'd like to add in case people are new to all of this + dont use photoshop. Lastly, I want to say if you decide to edit photos on photopea, it does tend to crash if you upload a big number of photos and slows down. I usually upload like 6 or 8 and then save and repeat the process. Its kinda annoying, but ive been using photopea for a while now so im used to it. My mac users, use early-grapes butter action if you want things to look cleaner and less harsh!! + the other ps actions down below. I used these a lot when I was a mac user. Of course, that comes with extra steps, but I feel its worth it in the end.

Templates!

I loveeeeeee templates so much!! theres so many out there to use for gameplay. It really adds more to gameplay posts! This can be dust/dirt, film burn, that cute camera template etc etc. templates are really fun to use and play around with~

I usually go on deviantart to find templates to use! if you want to check out my deviantart account you can find it here! I favorite a lot of things I can use for gameplay screenies.

Gifs

making gifs is cool because it brings the gameplay "to life" ~

EZgif is a free website that converts videos to gifs. You'll need a recording program like OBS (which is also free).

i like making gifs when i want to capture a (cute) moment (kisses, hugs, cooking etc etc). Its also cool to capture the weather in game like when its snowing or raining.

Little details

Some people really go all out on editing gameplay posts like adding hair strands and adding more details to sims faces (catchlights, tears, blushing, etc). You dont really have to do this, but I want to mention it anyways! I want to try doing this at some point because I enjoy editing my gameplay posts/photos in general and adding tiny details is fun to me lol. It adds realism to posts, but it isnt necessary!

Procreate is a really good program that you can get if you have an ipad. its 10$ and thats, that. You dont have to make any payments. You can also animate on procreate too if you're down for that!

Find inspiration in other simmers!

the sims community on tumblr is filled with such talented people! Theres lots of gameplay simmers who dont do your typical gameplay posts that you can check out and learn from!!! Ive always struggled with getting the right angles when taking screenies. I looked at other simmers and how they take screenshots & it was really helpful for me since I noticed I would take too many over the shoulder photos on my sims lol.

honestly, you've come to the right place, i love reading and writing dark content — and it may be hard to believe, but the things you mentioned in your idea? my little 15-17 years old self experienced it, not to mentio- i'll give you a small little rant about my ex in the past, perhaps to give you ideas in the process as well! (and yes, you can absolutely discuss things like this with me, i told you lovely, i'm absolutely open minded with anything and i tend to have a level headed/calm and open response, even with a taboo subject) without further ado

TW: HEAVY TOPICS, LONG READ, HIRAETH'S RELATIONSHIP LORE UNDER CUT

here, my naive 15 year old idled about in life with suicidal and depressed tendencies. dull, overworked and exhausted, in result of having to perform in plenty of stages that involved my skills as a musician. don't get me wrong, performing itself was great, taking the center stage with my other young performers, receiving gifts after — all was good in that aspect. but the negative began to seed, based off my desires to love or be enticed with the ideas of love, being cared for, being cherished. a busy life became dull, and the bullying i received from my classmates, teachers standing by — my world had dulled, causing me to drop out ultimately. i wanted to be cared for, a voice kept repeating inside my head. familial love in my eyes heavily differed to the love i craved subconsciously.

unfortunately for me, i was too observant, too keen, too aware. aware of my negative surroundings, growing negativity, my growing desire for love, but the world had continued to fail me continuously at the time, until i had enough, until i grew exhausted to the point where i wanted to — well, dying isnt really the best word, but i just wanted to live another life, i wanted to rest, i wanted to sleep endlessly.

and then.

three days. three days before i took action to cease my life, a game piqued my interest (knights chronicle) i was honestly in total auto mode, decisions weren't 100%, you could say i was mindlessly making decisions, my subconscious protecting me in its own way by distracting me with this "game" i impulsively downloaded.

skipping, i met him.

my ex. i had a persona on of course, to hide my abyss. i was a flirt, i was confident, i was who i write today on my fictions. this sudden persona? i have analyzed myself back then, and i've come to a conclusion that it was a persona manifested by desperation, absolute desperation to — yup, that's right, my rooted, inner desires, to love.

oh, i endeared ppl in that public chat — but i dont genuinely know what the fuck compelled me to my ex, but it was a force even i was unaware of why i felt a pull towards him, i still cant answer that myself. i flirted nonstop towards him specifically, relentless i was, desperate i was, but then it happened, i jokingly plugged in my instagram handle in chat — but he, he fucking remembered it, MESSAGED me, causing to stir hidden, brewing emotions, unaware that this simple, yet impactful act, would be my demise until feb-march of 2023.

oh it was lovely at first, i fell "in love" immediately. (nnh im cringing) and i let him know it, but it was one sided at first. i was heartstruck, lovestruck — no, lovesick. and this feeling dissipated any intention of suiciding. he was my savior, he was a savior in my eyes. shit, i was hopelessly... hopeless. shunning my family out, everyone, even my friends, fuck, and it was still one sided after a few months of friendship with him.

but since he voiced out ever so clearly, that he wasn't ready yet

my feelings wavered of course, and this carnal desire to be loved was immense, so, naturally, the husk of me sought out other attention, and i met someone online (imvu), he was sweet, a connection established, things were good — or... so i thought as i was blocked the next day. i was so desperate, so fucking naive and desperate that i went through his friends list and messaged a random friend. oh i was hopeless, so damn hopeless. but the guy unblocked me momentarily, i sought out closure, he reassured, and then just when i thought things were good again, he blocked me, once more. and our last messages together were "goodnight" to each other.

but this encounter with him?

i voiced this whole thing to my ex, and

at that day, at the same time, he confessed his feelings.

quite the coincidence, is it not?

so in my desperate state of self, i grew to love him as intensely, more than before. and things were good, at least for a few months.

relationships, of course, we had to show our "comfortable sides" eventually, no? and that we did. we were... different, too different, the opposite, fuck i cannot- i do not know where to begin. views, political views, the world, our interests, all was different, he was more difficult than i thought, more different, opening a world of new negativity within me, but guess what, i was still hopelessly and naively in love.

later.

all would come crashing down, one topic led to another, then another, until it became an argument, and he would later reveal that he merely saw this relationship — as a companionship. a companionship. not even a relationship. oh! oh! he stated that he viewed me as a puppy, a dog, and he was a master, CARING for the dog. a "conpanionship." by the way, in later, much later events, we would have multiple arguments about me expressing about the past, and if i bring this shit up, he would go

"not again, grace. i thought we were already done with the past, the past is done and i've already apologized"

"not again..."

"can you.... not bring the word (companionship) up? it traumatizes me grace..."

something along those lines. anyhow.

oh, ill indulge you, the moment he tried to leave me the first time — i begged, begged endlessly, crying, choking sobs, worrying my family. he stayed... because... i don't know? did he want us to work? did he pity me? did he love me? did he- yeah i dont know and ive long forgotten.

much, much later, we would have the worse arguments ever, until the rainbows, the sunshines and the good times were buried with our impactful arguments. i will admit, if we werent arguing, all was... fine. not dull. fine.

but shit, our arguments, i would be like this;

H: "PLEASE please... please... please don't leave me, dont leave me dont leave me dont leave me... please... i just- i just need reassurance... reassurance, its all i need, please...."

two ways, he complies because i need to fucking guide him since he cant come up or initiate his own, or he fucking goes away and gets burnt out and needs to leave the "argument"

i was BEGGING for the bare minimum. just- just if you've seen nat's recent scaramouche fic, our relationship was like that, but much more heavier, much more... i dont know.

RIGHT. AND WHEN I HAD ENOUGH AND WANTED TO LEAVE, HE WOULD FUCKING FOLD. HE WOULD THREATEN TO KILL HIMSELF. ?????????¿???2?!2?2!?21!1?

we broke up many times, and got back together many times. it was a cycle, a cycle of hell that i endured for 5 years. not to mention, HE was the one who brought up not having feelinge for him anymore, HE was the one who said he will change, he will end this cycle.

Upon first seeing that you are bad at games, Kaeya would probably tease you lovingly, especially if you played against each other, but after noticing that your lose is actually upsetting for you and you are not laughing, he will drop the teasing and go to comfort you. A good laugh is good only when everyone's laughing after all and he doesn’t want to upset you even more.

For Kaeya, it doesn’t matter much if you are bad or good at games. If you are bad, then you can practice and he will gladly watch you play or even play with you, offering you words of comfort if you get upset! And if you make some progress, he will happily give you a small reward like, oh, your favorite dessert or a kiss, anything you'd like, because even if it isn't a big deal for him, he understands that it's big for you and he wants you happy and to enjoy small things in life.

Childe is probably a gamer, let's be honest. And he loves playing games with you or just watching you play but he absolutely dislikes seeing you sad because of your skills. It should bring you fun, not make you sad after you lose against him or fail to do a quest and he will going to change this, he really wants you see your smile after all.

I think, if he ever realizes that you feel like you are good at nothing, he would say that not only it's not true– and then he would proceed to subtly show you all the things you are good at– but also that it shouldn’t matter whether you are good at something or not, it doesn’t define your worth and you should never force yourself to meet people's exceptations. And remember, there's always room for improvement and he will gladly help you practice anything you want, as long as you are happy.

You name it, you get it. You want to play with him so you can practice? He will agree instantly, playing whatever game you want and always giving you tips. You want him to accompany you playing a game? He's here, if you need some advices or help with a quest or level, just ask him. And if you need a break from all those games, then he will give it to you too. Look, he will even play a new game he knows nothing about with you so you won't feel that bad with your poor skills. It's funnier being bad at something together!

And if you tell him that you feel like you're good at nothing, then Childe will try his hardest to show you all the things you are good at, because it doesn’t matter if the things you are good at are big or not. You don’t need to be good at things like school or college, you can be good at making this one dish you like, you can be a good listener, be good with pets or even at making people you love and care smile– and it will be enough. they narrate everything he does while screen recording like "oh see, its trying to access my microphone now. this is why you have to be careful about what programs you run, im using a vm so it should be contained and cant get into my actual files" and spamtons like "wtf. wtf"

little desktop spamton contained in the virtual machine while reader makes videos on him bc they and their audience think hes neat. they compliment his complexity and how much hes seemingly able to do, not knowing hes a whole little guy in there and not just a random computer virus

while leshy kinda has shut-in vibes i feel like like hes actually more the type to Never be home!! if you wanna challenge him you have to go find him in the woods and hes like up in a tree taking regular pictures of all the animals he sees (inscrybing everything would not be good for the ecosystem)

follow up he likes to think outside.. got like a huge rock he chills on where he brainstorms stuff for his games.. the Thinking Rock

probably bathes in a river or waterfall tbh. he doesnt need soap the sheer force of the water is enough to cleanse him

the fact that p03 has a mechanic where bot cards can have beast forms implies he doesnt hate them :) he feels positively enough to add them to his cards at least!!

although he can display pretty much anything he wants on his monitor, it still takes him considerable effort to hide his expressions! accidentally showing his smile only to immediately switch back to neutral like "you didnt see that"

being good friends with him would obviously include lots of playful + affectionate bullying but also the occasional sappy moment where he will either respond equally as sappy and/or threaten to kill you bc hes overwhelmed with the kindness

grimora treats her ghouls very well and visiting her is always a delight! the type to not let you leave without giving you a gift of some kind, be it a nice meal or a new pack of cards

she always tells the ghosts and ghouls they died bc they have to know at some point, but she makes sure to be gentle about it and is ready for whatever reaction they may have

yknow what! i think shed think p03s technology is cool!! all the scrybes feel a little old fashioned but shes quite interested in the modern stuff even if she isnt used to it or doesnt really understand it, but she tries!

man idk whats up with magnificus. giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he was trying to do a sort of tough love approach with his students but in a weird twisted kinda way?? that or he was like "ah you idolize me? lol cringe [puts your head on a pike forever]"

he should have a wizard hat. i think he does have one somewhere but he got bullied into not wearing it

itd be really funny if his eyes see color differently so to him hes making these really gorgeous masterpieces but everyone else sees the colors normally and its just an awful awful mess. imagine if he sees things really bright and almost neon so everything he paints ends up being incredibly dull and slightly the wrong color

what if ingo and emmet had a shared pokemon version of instagram account for posting pictures they take of various trains and like. its not exactly Secret but theres nothing that really ties it to them bc its just about The Trains

but one day part of one of their shoes and like the edge of their coat is ever so slightly in frame and it goes viral bc this random little inconspicuous train fan account was actually run by the Subway Bosses of the Unova Battle Subway, 2 quite powerful and well known trainers in the region. and of course the internet would lose their minds over something like that

they wake up with like millions more followers and tons of comments like "I NEVER KNEW THIS ACCOUNT EXISTED??" and "thats. ingos shoe. he and emmet are the only people in the world who wear shoes like that"

ingos like "how did they all find out it was us??" and emmets reading the comments and says "ah, you were just barely in frame in this photo. thats how they identified us" and then they do nothing about it. they never speak about it publicly they just keep posting their train photos and ignoring dms

While watching the credits after beating the game, close and open your DS to hear Lord Vader's heavy breathing sound. After you complete the dark side ending by killing Vader, you unlock the Sith stalker armor. While wearing this armor, Starkiller has multiple lightsabers; including Kotas's, Darth Vader's and half of Darth Maul's lightsaber. Inside Ozzik Sturn trophy room, on the wall near the door where you enter, there is are three trophies. Crumb the annoying little monkey rat that Jabba the hut had 3 is the Dianoga, the eyeball thingy that was in the trash compacter in the first starwars movie. On Imperial Kashykk, when in the room with the trophies where you face the senate guard guys with staff lightsabers and free the wookie in the round cage, face the way you came in. To your right, there should someone frozen in carbonite look closely and it should be Jar-jar. Raxus Prime Zone 1 - After reaching the last platform past all the lava, or whatever it is, before you leave the area there is an x-wing submerged in the lava use your force grip to pull it out. The junk yard planet - At the start of the level you need to make your way across a river of molten metal. Once you cross it look left, you will see a spire of fire, highlight it and use force grip and you can reveal an X-Wing. Outside Walkway - Above the tunnel in the back of the walkway - Before hopping over the gap to the side along the walkway where the TIE fighters swoop by, if you want to see a hidden helmet easter egg, then use force grip to stack up a few crates next to the rooftop of the tunnel at the end of the first walkway then leap up to the rooftop of that tunnel. It is best to stack a cylindrical crate on its side standing up then stack another cylindrical crate on top of it or stack two rectangular crates on top of the cylindrical crate. Position them with the left analog then set them down lightly by using the right analog to lower them before letting go. Either way, make sure the crates are stacked right below the rooftop then hop on top of them and double jump to the rooftop. Use the force dash L1 to help gain some extra air time during the double jump if needed. It is best to attempt this on the easiest mode since the TIE fighters will be swooping by and firing at Starkiller the entire time from the left side. The helmet will be at the end of the rooftop. what's the biggest life decision (you feel comfortable saying) that you've ever made? do you ever think about what would've happened if you hadn't made a certain choice/how it would've affected your life?

canofworms0 downloading tumblr. i know that sounds stupid but honestly its real. im not allowed to have anything else in regards to social media. not instagram, not twitter, not snapchat, not tik tok, nothing. my mother knows i have tumblr so i dont know why she doesnt make me delete it (but it might have to do with the fact she thinks its like deviant art or smth) but im so glad she doesnt. as social-media-addicted-teenager as this sounds without tumblr my life would fucking suk right now. i wouldnt have the things i do and i wouldnt be as happy. and i can give you examples.

lets go in order of events shall we :)

1. i downloaded tumblr some time last year (around may i think) and i immediately found a blog i liked! they were a 13yo like me they shared some of my interests and they seemed really cool! so i followed them. i dont know this blogs current @ but im so lucky i ever found them. a month or so later they posted about a server! it was a community server that they and some friends were in. i joined. thats where i met @starry-baby-katie and @gayishgothamite. and i love those dorks (affectionate)! we might not talk very offten but i think of them as people who are SO important to me. i love them with my whole soul and i dont know if my life would be as bright without them.

2. around 11/5 of last year i was scrolling through tumblr like usual. i saw an add for a server. at that point i was in maybe three servers on discord and didnt have many friends so i thought you know why not! its a mental health server and i wasnt in the best place maybe could benefit from it a bit. i joined and there were maybe 14 members including the mods. we didnt really think the server would go much of anywhere for a while and i honestly didnt interact much for a while but you know what. now that server is such a huge part of my life i dont think i would be here without it. i mean i love every last person there so much. literally all of them. @the-final-braincell bun bun is honestly one of the best people ive ever met. they’re funny and joyful and just the best to be around. talking to them always cheers me up and she always manages to make me laugh. were on the mod team together and she is such an important part of the team that we wouldnt run as smoothly as we do without her. i love them so so much and if i hadnt gotten tumblr? would never have met them. then theres @sir-tigerr. tiger. just. tiger. hes so amazing and i honestly would die for him. i love him so much and just talking to him can make my day. i wouldnt be as happy and the sever wouldnt be as fun without him. and @reallyradrat server owner :) sammy im so grateful for sammys existence just.. overall. they made the sever. they wrote the add post. and they’re such a good friend. i cant imagine not having them in my life they’ve made such a difference. so just... thank you <3 and @tiredconfusedandgay!! cub!! i love them!! theyre such a joy to be around and them being in the server is such a lucky thing! it wouldnt be as fun and bright of a place without them and they bring so much every time and i love seeing them in chat everyday. and with leo comes @canofworms0 baby child. anni is so amazing. just overall. so happy and funny and just an amazing person to be around and im so happy to have them in the server. @lentil-darling !!! kittycat!!! i love them!! they're so amazing and have helped me through things on more than one occasion and I'm so grateful for that and for them. they're such a good friend and i always have such a good time whenever we vc! its honestly something i look forward to! and speaking of VCs @gayest-unicorn is amazing. VCing with them is so fun and i hope we can do it more often. and on top of that just messaging them is great! and they're puns (ouns ;)/ij)? FANTASTIC! i hate puns by most means but whenever they crack a joke it makes my day 4000 times better. he's just amazing and i think he deserves the world. cant say enough praise to him :) so i low key have to speedrun this bc im running out of time to type this but all of these people also deserve the world and i wouldnt know them if it wasnt for tumblr @smoll-lightning-bug @totally-tater-tot @savemycrustysoul @a-broken-laptop @nantuckets-weaver @undead-mutt @hufflepuff-pide-honey-badger @human331279 and just so so many more whos @s i didnt get or couldnt find. i am so grateful to have in my life because of this server and that post. that post literally changed my life forever and i cant imagine my life without it and without these people

3. a few months went by and i made some mutuals and friends and whatnot. my at the time friend irl then made an account. i was really excited! why wouldnt i be! friend made account! awesome! but another thing about that? i had a crush on them.. and they could now see my account. but fuck it it was a great trade off. we spent a lot of time sending each other asks and messaging while in quarantine and it was just great. then i saw an ask game and i rebloged it. i realized this ask game said “♻ are we a qpp or what?” as one of the asks. now im a coward and i could NEVER have done this outside tumblr in anyway but i took the chance. i sent them the post and said “you should rb this! you have followers that would interact im sure” and so.. they did. i sent the ask and they said yes :) five months later and we’re still dating. whos this amazing person? that my friend would be @mossofthecosmos the most amazing person ive ever met. theyre the light of my life and if it werent for tumblr i would still be a blushy, semi-verbal, embarrassed, mess around them. and we wouldnt be dating. i cant even imagine what that would be like. i love them so much and they make every day wroth living for me and if it werent for tumblr, i wouldnt have that.

4. and ive made friends. so many of them. and i love them all so much! i dont talk to a few anymore but for the while we did they made my days and made me so happy. without tumblr i wouldnt have met @mimekyo or @books-andbiscuits who are both people that have made my life a brighter place!

okay so i cried writing this and i cried HARD

bottom line nonie? this question is so loaded it took me three hours to write an answer and a stupid amount of words that no one will read all the way through

i cant put it into words but this website is one of the best things that ever happened to me and i cant imagine life without it

i sang a lot today😊

refilled the water dispenser with help from my little sister (shes so strong wtf? i saw her muscles bulge when we lifted that huge jug -_- but i used to exercise more than her so what gives?)

To ppl who are doing this too, i really encourage u to put everyyyttthing u did even if other people wont see it as an accomplishment or if U don't see it as an accomplishment well youre wrong because u should celebrate EVERY LITTLE THING THAT U DO so even if its brushing ur teeth u put that there if u dont usually do it.

my breathing js shallow and i feel dizzy and want to vomit all the time... What tf is happening to me and why is this happening at the start of classes? All my profs were absent today so i didnt attend any class.

I am losing my sense of time... Every day feels like a year. Its probably because i am not feeling well. I hope i get it together soon. Ive been drinkimg less water too because i cant move around much.

1. Start studying for my missed prerequisite subject

To do this, i will get my laptop. Prepare yellow pad paper, calculator, pen and stim toy. Charge my phone far away so i cant use it. Log into our school website. Access that course. Play the videos. If i notice im not absorbing anything, i take a break and do soemthing fun.

2. Do the assignment my therapist taught me

To do this, i will find a private space no one csn read over my shoulder. Likely the bed against the corner. Turn off wifi on my phone. Copy instructions for assignment. Open up my writing app. Paste instructions for assignment on writing app. Start assignment.

3. Start working on my lab exercises

To do this, i will get my laptop. Prepare yellow pad paper, calculator, pen and stim toy. Charge my phone far away so i cant use it. Log into our school website. Access that course. OPEN THE FIRST EXERCISE, dont look at anything else. Follow instructions, may include opening mathlab and simulink. Open the piazza for that class so i can look st questions others asked already. If i have trouble with something, i will log into messenger on desktop to ask questions.

4. Make some progess on my passion project

No set instructions here, just follow my heart! But if im stuck: finish researching philippine weapons. Assign weapons to oc's. Work on oc's personalities first. Check my notebook for notes on my oc's.

How many books did you read this year?I read 160 books!

Did you reread anything? What?I reread a lot of books this year! I reread the first 3 books in The Twilight Saga on audiobook which was really fun, with the ‘twilight renaissance’ this year it really made me want to go back and watch the films and read the books because they’re so ridiculous and I just think that getting back into ‘cringey�� stuff can be really fun and nostalgic

Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?I read All The Bad Apples by Moira Fowley-Doyle which completely took me by surprise and i cant wait to read more of her books

What genre did you read the most of?I read mostly graphic novels this year, closely followed by fantasy

Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to?I really wanted to finish reading The Goldfinch and Call Down The Hawk before the end of the year, but I got a new job and I haven’t found the time to dedicate to either of those books

What was your average Goodreads rating? Does it seem accurate?3.7 was my average rating and it’s probably quite accurate because this year had been a bit of a mixed bag for my reading

Any books that disappointed you?As much as I love Umbrella Academy and I have for a decade Hotel Oblivion didn’t do much for me, it was a fun volume but considering the 10 year wait I was hoping for At Least more interactions between the siblings. It was a good volume though I think I’d just set my expectations too high!

What were your least favourite books of the year?Hidden Bodies and And The Ocean Was Our Sky are the two that really stand out as least favourites

What books do you want to finish before the year is over?I really wanted to finish The Goldfinch and Call Down The Hawk but that’s just not going to happen :’)

Did any books surprise you with how good they were?I read Everything, Everything in the summer and I wasnt expecting it to be as good and to have as much fun reading it as I did, I forgot how good YA contemporary can be!

What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations?Ninth House was my most anticipated release and I thought it was incredible it was such a good book and I can’t wait to read the sequel - it was also great to be able to meet Leigh this year!

What’s the longest book you read?The longest book I read was Eclipse which was 629 pages and I listened to it on audiobook. The longest print book I read was Ninth House at 488 pages

What’s the fastest time it took you to read a book?I read a lot of graphic novels this year so they were probably the ones I finished the quickest. I think the book I read the quickest was probably Such Small Hands which I read i about an hour during a readathon (it’s a very short book though!)

Did you DNF anything? Why?There are a few books that I’ve set to one side for now but the only book that I really DNF’d was Weightless by Sarah Bannan, I just couldnt get into it!

What reading goals do you have for next year?I really want to complete more series next year and to try and read more long books because I got into the habit of reading a lot of shorter books this year and neglecting longer ones

Hey nonny! I have to admit i laughed a little at this just because I don’t consider myself popular, not by a long shot! This message is really kind of you and kind of amazing! So welcome to tumblr! So this is probably going to much longer than actually needed by anyone so i’m going to put this under the cut!

So first make tumblr easier for yourself and download xkit. Basically on desktop you can reblog from you dash, tag this automatically, and a bunch of other amazing things that make tumblr 6743 times easier. You can find xkit here.

Then okay so this probably sounds bad but having a good mobile and desktop theme goes a long way. desktop themes can seem super scary especially with no coding experience what so ever but i promise it is easy to change a theme and it makes a world of difference. here is a pretty quick and easy tutorial. Okay, so where do find codes? well there are tons of amazing theme makers on tumblr I reblog themes i like and you can see those here. and if you find a theme maker you can go to their page and see what else they made! then onto mobile theme. Like everything else there are some amazing icon and header makers on tumblr. For icons you can see mine here, also try @bb-8, @grumpybell, @alecsizzy, @harrydraco to name a few! For headers and icons you can go to @johnmurphe (brooke makes amazing icons and headers!!)

Also having a navi page can be really important if you are in a lot of fandoms or even just one! that brings me to TAGGING! tagging makes a world of difference. i probably over tag things but being so multi fandom and i’m just organized i have to tag. some people wont follow you unless you have a tag system. it makes it easier to blacklist things you dont want on your dash! tagging can be from just the show #the 100, to #tv: the 100, to character names full or not. anything you want basically.

so that’s most of the basic stuff it comes down to who you follow and what you post. tumblr is yours. you decide who you follow and unfollow and what you see on your dash. you dont like something someone is posting either backlist their tag or unfollow them. people tend to hate things just for something to do which sounds exhausting to me so curate your dash how you want it! There are tons of networks out there that are about one specific character or show so check them out! a network is a blog run by a group of people usually post edits and things and reblogs the newest edits! so an example is my network @bellamyblakepositivity (small self promo ;) )

Now i know some people thing you have to make gifsets, edits, headcanons, write fics, graphics, icons ect. to get followers. you really don’t. can it help? hell yeah haha making things and knowing how to tag edits helps even more! (this is for original edits) There are a million tutorials for learning how to make gifs and things i used tutorials to teach myself! you can dig through my tag for tuorials if you want to try that. but like i said you dont have to make things to enjoy yourself and make friends on this site! Please if you make things cite where you get ideas like quotes and things. and do NOT repost other peoples work. making things takes a lot of time and effort. i’m not saying you will but i am saying it is a sure fire way to get no where fast and its just rude. kindness goes a long way here even though it seems like it might not.

I was for the longest time the blog out in the dark that didnt make things and didn’t talk to anyone. I’m shit at starting conversations so i just dont do it. luckily people started conversations with me and i have made some absolutely amazing friends on this site. Like @flawlessbellamy I asked for a blog rate or tagged her in something and she sent a message to me and that was a year and 3 months ago and we talk daily! So if you see an edit you like, or a fic or something message the creator of it! i know as a creator i love love LOVE hearing from people (i read the tags on my posts and the give me life)! A lot of the time we are all just awkward beans who want to talk to each other but are too damn afraid. I see a blog on my dash and think i want to know that person but that and actually messaging are two different things but i implore you to try. some people like @broodybellamy are social butterflies even when they say they aren’t they totally are and just talk to people like its nothing. i am not like that. either is completely fine start small by tagging someone in something like a tag game, join blogrates, anything and go from there!

I made a lot of my friends by joining networks. so i said above what networks are a blog run by a group of people. there used to be a bunch of different types but those have since died off and now i see networks as almost a but more professional? like there is an admin then members and things are supposed to be updated and all that but if you join a network usually you just have to reblog some some stuff to keep the blog active and make something if you can and if you cant thats totally fine too!! networks usually have group chats either via blog or by group texting apps like whatsapp and discord. There you can get to know lots of people some you get along with and some not so much. from joning one network i met some of my closest friends and i am in about 15 different chats with different variations of the same people! networks are a huge help in getting to know people.

I honestly don’t try to do well i mean like i just reblog what i like and go from there i dont try to actively think about followers and things of course it’s inevitable for me to check my follower count and the notes on my edits but its more fun if you do you and see where it takes you. pick a theme you like, people an icon you like, the header. follow the people you want and unfollow others. tumblr is what you make of it!

if you want to know more about anything im happy to answer specific questions. i generally have a tutorial for just about everything and if i dont have it i can find it lmao! see i told you this would be longer than anyone needed or wanted!

This game is great for children ages three to six and also fun for older friends and family. Play single player against the computer or play with up to three other friends.

Meet Fun Characters and Play Their Educational Mini Games

Just like in the Candy Land board game, each turn consists of drawing a card with a colored square on it and moving to the nearest square of that color on the board. Once a player passes a figure, such as Abuela, an educational mini game pops up. Play a memory game to pass the Grumpy Old Troll, bake with Abuela and learn counting and colors with other adorable characters.

Help Dora, Bender, Backpack, and Diego make it to Dora's abuela's (grandma's) house for la fiesta (the party) in this Candy Land adventure. Candy Land: Dora the Explorer Edition is the classic Candy Land board game with added mini-games and an educational emphasis. This game's simple nature and teaching elements make this a perfect game for a family with young children, just learning to read.

Nice Blend of Classic Candy Land and Dora the Explorer

Candy Land, one of the all time great children's games, is a turn-based game that has you advancing along a playing board to reach the end goal. In this version of Candy Land your goal is to help Dora make it to her grandmother's house for a party. To move you pull a card from the deck and advance to the color it shows. Cards with two colors allow you to advance farther than you normally would and cards with symbols allow your character to advance to that symbol on the board. The symbols are scattered throughout the game tiles and pulling one can give you a huge advantage, especially the cards' symbols that are really close to the party.

2 Game Modes Plus Mini Games

Dora the Explorer edition offers two modes of play which include both the classic game as well as an enhanced version with educational mini-games. The enhanced version is essentially the same game as the original, however, in this version you must complete tasks or answer riddles to advance. The tasks are typically educational and might have you collecting candy canes in the shapes of letters or placing different colored lollipops in order to complete patterns. Each of the games have an educational element and pose a challenge for younger players. Older users will more likely than not find the mini-games too easy.

Nice Educational Element to the Game

The educational element in Dora the Explorer Candy Land is great. This game is designed for younger players just learning to read. You can see learning in nearly all aspects of the game. Dora counts in both English and Spanish, colors need to be identified, learning and comprehending is emphasized, even the instructions are read so new readers can read along and sound out words. This game is a great learning device and young children will get a kick out of how learning is incorporated into this fun board game.

Designed For Younger Players

If you are an older player, Candy Land: Dora the Explorer edition does not have much to offer. This game is designed for younger players so there is no real strategy or challenge. Even when you set the difficulty to the hardest setting, if you are an older speller you will find this game to be incredibly easy. Also, because this is a learning game for younger users, older players may get annoyed with the dialogue and the long length of turns. Though this is typically a major flaw of games, having drawn out dialogue after every turn is a great educational tool.

Conclusion - Nice Additions to Basic Candy Land and Great For Kids

Candy Land: Dora the Explorer edition is a great game for young children learning to spell. This might be the perfect addition to your family's game collection because it is educational and fun to play. Older players will not gain a lot from this game, however, it is not directed toward them. This fun game is a perfect learning device for developing children, and is worth the download.

For those who can't run this: use old Mac with Mac Classic (up to 9.2.2) OS or MacOS X 10.4 with classic environment. If not possible - use an emulator like Basilisk II (680x0, up to OS 8.1) or SheepShaver (PPC, up to OS 9.1).
