An updated Connor design sheet (the original is below). And woo. Connor was tough to figure out at the start. I knew before I started on the comic that whoever got the role of Eret would be the narrator. Then, by luck of the roll, Connor got Eret. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike Connor's character: I genuinely thought he was very solid comedic relief. He came in when needed, fulfilled his role, and was funny. However, Connor is, to put it simply, not a dramatic character. Even when he dies, it's a moment of comedy. When he comes back as a ghost, he proceeds to satirize Ghostbur, get an on-camera ending (which is more than some other characters can say), and leave. King behavior, honestly.

BUT That doesn't leave much room for the dramatic, serious narrator I was picturing. However, in the end, I grit my teeth and bared it, and sure enough, I think he turned out to be a good narrator. And I don't think I would have thought of having other characters come in to help narrate if the role of Eret had been given to a more dramatic character.

Anyways, when it came to him from a design standpoint, you can see that almost every design feature in the original design matches up with the updated (just drawn better haha). When it came to putting him in the comic, the note regarding his height is so true. I struggled putting him into panels. It's hard to put someone who's supposed to be, I don't know, 5'8", 5'9" in panels with someone who's canonically three feet tall. And all the other original L'manbergians are short. I do think that this helped me realize how much I needed to improve on how I drew scenes. As much as I loved drawing scenes straight on, 1: that's boring, and 2: it makes it near impossible to include characters of varying heights in one panel. If you look back at the first arc of the comic, you can see the exact points I struggled fitting Connor into the scene. He's usually just barely brushing the top of the panel, and all the other characters barely have their chins above the bottom of it. (You can also see a panel where I colored his pants gray instead of the normal blue, but I digress)

Oh, and the eyes on his onesie are googly eyes

What do you think about the fact that in 2×3 Gina knew that Ricky moved, but Nini didn't? I saw many r*nas talking about this and I wanted to see your opinion.

I'm glad you asked, anon! Because this is a perfect example of why you shouldn't listen to what Gicky shippers say AND it allows me to talk about Rini in depth, so thank you for that!

First of all: those Gicky shippers are wrong. Or rather, they are jumping to conclusions without having any evidence. The only person who found out on-screen that Ricky moved was Nini. Ricky didn't mention it to anyone in 2x01 and 2x02 (unless you count the testimonials camera person in the 2x02 recap), and Nini found out about it in the opening scene of 2x03. Then, when Gina showed up at Ricky's door, it was Nini who Ricky had been waiting for. So Nini knew where he lived by then. I think it's safe to assume that Ricky told her his new address after their surprise serenades went wrong, which was the day before Valentines Day.

We don't know when Gina found out that Ricky moved. The only time they talked about it on-screen was in a text that Ricky seems to have sent on Valentines Day:

So for all we know, Gina found out that Ricky had moved the day after Nini did. Based on all the boxes in the house, it looked like the move was pretty recent. So I wouldn't be surprised if Ricky hadn't really told anyone about it yet until 2x03.

The thing is: Gina knowing that Ricky had moved by the time she showed up at his door isn't relevant on the show. We never saw Gina find out where Ricky lives now, because the show wasn't contrasting Gicky with Rini. Rini is the story here, not Gicky. Nini didn't know that Ricky had moved for comedic effect in that scene, but I think you can also say that it happened as a result of Ricky's struggle with change and how he uses relationships/romance as a way to escape all of that.

In 1x10, Ricky is given a reason by Lynne for why she and Mike didn't work out:

This reinforces Ricky's hatred of change and makes him think that when people change in relationships, the relationship will end. We see that mindset very clearly in season 2:

2x01 drops two big changes on Ricky: he and Mike are moving out of his childhood home, and Nini is going to Denver. Ricky has experienced the heartbreak of losing Nini, so this time he tries to adjust to the change. She can still be his home even when she's far away.

There's another line of Ricky's in 2x02 that I think plays into why Ricky didn't tell Nini that he moved:

Nini makes Ricky happy. His love for her make him happy. No matter what was going on in his life, at least he could focus on that, and it got him through the hard times. That's how Ricky experienced it. So I think that he preferred to focus on that love and on simply being with Nini in-between Mike telling him they were moving in 2x01 and Nini showing up at his old house in 2x03. I think it's likely that, in order to deal with all the changes in his life, he kinda ignored the changes he didn't like while spending time with Nini and instead focused on what made him happy in those moments. It allowed him to forget those changes for a while. Which is a coping mechanism that 1x07 already proved doesn't work. In addition, not talking about moving with Nini may have allowed him to pretend that nothing had changed on his end. It allowed him to avoid having to reflect on what losing his childhood home meant to him. Because if anyone can get him to do so, it's Nini.

Answering questions about Eagles 4x07–4x08 (Part 1) 🌻

Here’s my compiled answers of the questions you guys have sent in about the latest two episodes! I’ve received a few more questions that didn’t fit in this post, so I will answer them in part 2. Hope you enjoy!

These last two episodes were definitely something, and the ending to episode 8 was so bittersweet.

It was heartbreaking to see Felicia crying while looking at Ludde in a sea of happy people. That scene was really well done though so I liked it, but I was totally devastated too!

I see what you mean—I also thought that the "plan" they all came up with was pretty silly. I was expecting Felicia to at least have some sort of idea on what to do since she was the one who gathered everybody, but she seemed to be just as clueless as everybody else there.

When Klara asked "so we just surprise Jack with a camera and say 'hey, you shot Andreas'?" I thought they would backtrack and come up with something else, but then they actually decided to do it anyway and the whole thing just felt childish. I know Jack is horrible and all, but they took this thing so seriously and to me the scene just felt comedic. And not in a good way.

Don't even get me started on when Ludde started saying "I'm sorry for kissing you" to Felicia in front of everybody. I almost recoiled in second-hand embarrassment from that one.

During the hockey game when they all called out "Kroon"—that was definitely cheesy, but I still liked it and also got goosebumps from that scene lol. But don't get me wrong, it did feel like Elias's eating disorder was swept aside in order for the Eagles team to have their big moment. It felt kind of weird knowing everything that Elias has gone through behind the scenes, and that made it hard to really root for him because I was just begging for Elias to not faint or risk injuring himself.

I really liked the golf scene between Petra and Amie, if I'm honest! To me it's understandable that Amie still isn't 100% sure about having Michael at her graduation. Graduating from high school is a huge milestone and celebration, so even if Michael did help Amie that still doesn't make him a close relative to her. I'd love to see Michael be invited to the graduation, though!

I agree with you on the fact that it felt weird how it only took one small hint from Petra for Amie to decide that she was going to the hockey game. I would've liked to see something similar to how Mats told Elias "You have to follow your instinct. Go with your gut feeling" earlier in the episode.

Some of the writing was questionable and I can understand why you found the episode disjointed. I have such a soft spot for Eagles so there were still lots of moments I enjoyed, but these two episodes definitely weren't as amazing as they could've been.

You have a very good point. I'm not a huge fan of how Elias has been acting this season—not just towards Amie, but everybody else as well. I keep telling myself that he's so consumed by becoming successful and getting so affected by the eating disorder that he's not acting like himself.

I didn't really like how they made it seem like Amie was the one who did something wrong. I would've liked to see Elias approach Amie instead and be the one to take the first step.

I think that behind his stoic-ish exterior, Elias cares very deeply for Amie. He may not show it in the way we would want him to, but he never stopped loving her even when he was mad at her. He cares about her so much that her "betrayal" (in quotation marks here since Amie did the right thing) hurt Elias deeply, and he covered it up with hostility.

But they're still soulmates, and—as the episode title states—endgame.

It is interesting!

While it would be a shame for Elias to retire from hockey so young, I think it would be the healthiest thing to do. I like the idea of Elias becoming a coach, but at the same time I'm totally in love with a previous theory I had of Elias studying at a film school in the US.

He's expressed an interest in movies before and it would be such a perfect way for him to accompany Amie to the US. I think the whole hockey environment is just stressful and damaging to his well-being, so I'd like to see Elias pursue something else. Something different than the expectations that were set on him the moment he was born.

You could definitely be right about whatever Elias does next is very likely to still be tied to hockey. That speech demonstrated great leadership skills so it wouldn't be coming out of left field if Elias did become a coach. But I'm still holding on to my whole "Elias studies at a film school in the US and directs Amie's future music videos" dream, no matter how unrealistic it may be. 🥲

I agree. It feels like the plan they came up with didn't even matter in the end since Jack decided to show up at Felicia's apartment anyway (also, how did he even know where the apartment was and that Felicia would be there at that time?).

The Plan had a lot of small problems so I understand what you mean. Besides the whole Jack drama, I also found myself not even caring about Naima relapsing and ending up at the hospital. We had so few scenes with Naima and she sort of disappeared from the show after Felicia left rehab, so I didn't really care about Naima that much. I really don't care about their love story at all if I'm perfectly honest.

I would love to see the cut scenes/ideas, if there were any for these episodes! Maybe this could be a question for the upcoming podcast Q&A?

You are definitely right. This storyline should've begun much earlier than it did, and there should've been more scenes of it. Someone mentioned that most of Elias's development was done off-screen rather than on-screen, and that perfectly summed up my biggest problem with how this storyline was handled.

I didn't like the message that was sent out when we saw Elias be rewarded for neglecting his health by refusing to stop playing.

I appreciate the attempt because it's rare to see a male eating disorder storyline on TV, but it definitely could've been done better if it had been developed more. I feel like we never really got into Elias's head properly, so it was hard to understand his thoughts this season.

Mats and Petra are such a guilty pleasure of mine, so I would love to see this happen. Imagine that after like 25 years, they finally get to spend graduation together even if it's not really how either of them planned it. 🥺

I mean, it would be a little weird for them to get together since their kids are dating each other, but I just want to see Petra be happy. And even if Mats hurt her really badly they still have a very special connection to each other.

For all we know Petra could end up with Michael, but I'm rooting for my man Mats here.

You're so right. I feel really bad for Ludde and all the shitty cards he's been dealt with. The only thing he has going for him is London, so he's absolutely going there after graduation because I can't imagine Ludde staying in Oskarshamn. But if it's any consolation, he should have a pretty rad graduation speech after everything he's gone through this season.

Now that we're on the subject, I also feel really bad for Sam who got caught in the middle of the whole Andreas drama. Imagine that your significant other gets randomly shot and tells you an obvious lie about how it happened. A month or so later you find out that he has cancer and he still hasn't told his family, so you're carrying around this huge secret that you know will change everything when it comes out. Oh, and then you find out that your partner was the one who bought the gun that shot him and that he used it to threaten someone else.

And still, Sam manages to be such a loving and supportive boyfriend even if Andreas has treated him like garbage. I know this situation is really traumatic for Ludde and his family, but Sam is definitely going to be suffering after this too. We don't know anything about his family or if he has the same support system that Ludde has. I just wish Sam finds some happiness in the last episode. He totally deserves better. Can Sam go to the US too, please? 🥺

I think your predictions about Ludde and Felicia are pretty solid! I'm hoping they'll stay close friends and maybe rekindle their relationship in the future, if we do end up getting a flashforward scene.

I did enjoy them, but there were glaring problems with the pacing and also the way that some storylines were wrapped up. Lots of things were rushed and some events didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I kind of wish that they hadn't packed so much into these two episodes, but I understand that we're nearing the series finale and they probably wanted to go out with a bang.

“Y/n? What are you still doing up? I swear it’s like really late where you are right now?” Jin said as soon as he picked up the phone

The silence that met him was enough for him to excuse himself from the rest of the boys and talk to you privately. He heard you sniffle which gave him the hint that you were crying.

“I just miss you, that’s all.” you replied softly, slightly embarrassed about the fact that you had to call him to feel at ease

“I know love, I miss you too.” Jin felt his heart break “But there’s not long now! Only two more weeks, and I’ll be home!

You nodded even though he couldn't see it. Hearing his voice was the comfort you needed, and Jin knew that.

So that’s why he carried on talking to you, telling you about the concerts and interviews they've had so far. He carried on talking until he heard a soft snore come from the other end of the line, signalling to him that you were asleep.

He whispered a ‘I love you so much’ before hanging up the phone, being comforted himself that you were okay.

When Yoongi got a text from you that read: ‘Can we talk’ his mind went straight the worst case scenario. Were you going to break up with him? Were you going to leave him for someone better? Were you dying?

Without hesitation, he pressed your name to call you, not even bothering to answer the text. When you eventually picked up after a few rings, he could instantly tell that something was off.

Usually, you’d greet him with a bright hello and maybe a question to follow about his day or what he was doing at that moment. Instead he got a small ‘hi’ and then nothing. That for Yoongi, was a massive red flag.

“What’s up baby? What did you want to talk about?” He attempted to break the ice just a little, just so you would feel more comfortable talking.

“I just needed to hear your voice. Is that okay?” you replied, putting the scenarios Yoongi had created to an abrupt end. “You might be busy I know, It’s stupid of me-”

Your boyfriends small chuckling cut you off “Y/n honey, don't you understand that you’re my first priority? You come first. Always.”

And so you talked. Him being all night. You being all day.

“I think you should talk to her Hoseok.” his sister told him through the phone after seeing you today “She looks lost somehow. I don’t think she’s coping well with you being gone. And I don’t blame her!”

Hoseok sighed worriedly “I’ll talk to her I promise, thank you Jiwoo.”

He hung up the phone to her before switching to the skype app, thumb instantly tapping on your name. As much as it affected you him being away, it also affected him too. He would want nothing more than to snuggle up with you right now.

But obviously he didn’t have that luxury at this moment.

The first thing that Hoseok realised when the line did connect is that his sister was right. You looked like you hadn’t slept in days and at some point in that hour you had been crying which could be inferred from the redness of your eyes.

“Hey gorgeous!” He smiled lightly, just the sight of you making him feel more at home.

You copied his grin and replied “Hi Hobi.”

“So I heard you went to go see my sister today and apparently you didn’t look too well? Is everything alright my love?”

“Y-yeah! Everything is fine.” you bit your lip, avoiding any eye contact.

“Y/n.” Hoseok said deeply “Don’t lie to me. I know when something is playing on your mind, angel.” He watched take your sleeve and wipe your under eyes.

“I’m struggling Hobi.” You finally sighed “Everyday, I think of how you’re not here and it makes me so fucking sad.” Your eyes quickly filled up with tears again.

“Oh honey. I miss you more than words can say.” His eyes didn’t leave the screen as you got up to get a tissue. When you came back he started again. “When I come back, we’re gonna go somewhere, just you and me.”

“Really?” you asked curiously.

“Absolutely. I’ll make you happy again, I promise.”

And Hoseok never breaks his promises.

“There’s my beautiful princess!” Namjoon exclaimed as your face finally popped up on his screen. You grinned, rolling yours eyes at the pet name he had given you. “How you doing love?”

“It’s been okay I guess!” You answered while your eyes automatically scanned the empty apartment you were left with.

“What do you mean ‘i guess?’ Is something wrong?”

Seeing your boyfriends furrowed eyebrows on your screen made you chuckle “Yeah it’s just, I get lonely a lot more now. The house is pretty quiet without something breaking. You winked and laughed when he held his chest, as if you had shot him right in the heart.

“Y/nn, that was a low blow! I’m not that clumsy!” He yelled comedically.

“Yes you are!” You screamed back, still laughing at his expression. You both giggled and joked for a bit longer before his manager told him it was ready to go rehearse.

Before you both said goodbye and hung up he interrupted with a: “Y/n.”

“Yes, Joon?”

“I love you. I’ll be home soon, so just hang on for a little longer okay?”

You nodded “I will love.”

When Jimin received a notification that you had sent him a video, his heart warmed at the thought of seeing your face again. However, when he saw that you were crying in it his heart did anything but warm.

Quickly, he punched the play button and painfully watched how your face screwed up with sadness.

“Hey baby, um I know this is kinda sad and stuff but.” Your voice broke and you quickly wiped your eyes. “I really miss you. Like REALLY really. I hate to admit it, but im struggling without you here. I just need to hear you. To smell you. To touch you. I miss your cuddles and your laugh. I just miss everything.”

You looked down from the camera, trying to hide your shame and embarrassment. Jimin sighed sadly as the video came to an abrupt end. Without even any hesitation whatsoever he got up the camera up and started to record himself.

“Hey beautiful, listen to me okay? You’re being so strong for the both of us right now and you don’t know how proud I am of you. Don’t get me wrong, I miss you so so so much but when we do see each other, it’ll be so much more special. Please carry on living your life. I’ll call you when the show is over. Not many shows now princess! I’ll be home soon!”

“Yeontan!” Tae called over the phone, trying to get the puppies attention “Yeontan! It’s daddy! Look!” You laughed as your boyfriend waved frantically at the phone screen.

“I think he’s confused Tae.” you replied in exchanged of the dog “I don’t think he’s grasped the basics of technology yet!”

Taehyung giggled lightly “Ahhh I miss him so much, you don’t even know!”

“Oh I see.” You pouted “You don’t miss me at all then.” You comedically put your head in your hands and pretended to wipe a tear from your eyes. You saw Taehyung roll his eyes and smirk at your poor acting skills.

“Come on baby, you already know how much I miss you!” He put the screen closer to his face “I just wanna kiss those beautiful cheeks of yours.”

Now it was his turn to pout as he realised just how far both you and Yeontan were from him. The lack of cuddles and kisses you were missing out on really took a toll on you both. However you stayed strong for each other. That was the healthy thing to do.

“Only a couple days! And then you can kiss these cheeks as much as you want!” For more an effect, you squished both your cheeks together.

He laughed at how funny it made your face look before slowly quieting down and staring at you. You almost definitely noticed how silent he suddenly turned

“What? Is there something on my face?”

“No, I just can't wait to see you. Please don’t let Tannie forget about me, okay?”

“Trust me, it’d be pretty hard to forget you my love.”

When Jungkook had heard from one of his hyungs that they had gotten a really upsetting call with a extremely stressed you on the other end of the line, he wasn’t too thrilled.

He almost felt insulted that you, his girlfriend of two years, still wasn’t comfortable telling him what was wrong when you had an issue that was bothering you .

You knew you should’ve gone to him first. That was why your heart dropped when you saw his contact picture pop up on your screen, as you knew exactly why he was calling your phone.

“Y/n?” he greeted you immediately as soon as you accepted the call “What’s going on? Why did i have to hear from Namjoon - hyung that you were struggling? Why couldn’t you have just told me yourself?”

His tone of voice was stern but also dashed with slight worry. You knew he was lecturing you because he cared about you and he wanted you to feel comfortable. However you didn’t want to show your weakness so easily. You wanted to show that you were strong.

“I’m sorry Kookie.” you mumbled quietly, too ashamed to explain yourself properly.

You heard Jungkook sigh “I’m not angry at you pumpkin, it’s just frustrating that you’re hurting and i’m a thousand miles away. I just want to help you. But you need to open up for me to do that. Think you can do that bubba?”

You nodded even though you knew he couldn’t see you “I just miss you. I thought that maybe it might be a stupid reason to call you and cry about it so that’s why I went to Namjoon. I’m sorry baby.”

“Y/n, please don’t feel like your feelings are stupid. They’re so important so if you’re ever feeling sad or angry or anything like that, please call me. I love helping you. Because I love you. And I miss you more than words could ever say.”

“I love you, Jeon Jungkook.”

“I adore you more. Y/n Y/L/N.”
