Okay I literally cannot find anyone else talking about it but shout out to Donna Noble for being cornered by a creepy terrifying puppet and its creepy terrifying puppet babies and rather than succumbing to that cliché she just picked it up and smashed its head against the wall until it stopped moving and then scared the rest so badly they simply left the show there and then. Donna transcends genre, because she just nutpunches any genre she doesn't like right in the plums and then marches off.

Doctor Who headcanons
Ok, so in The Empty Child /The Doctor Dances (can't remember if it's part one or two) we see The Doctor talk about destroying the factory at Vilingar, and Captain Jack asks The Doctor about his sonic, referencing sonic blasters, cannons and disruptors and The Doctor justifies the sonic screwdriver with the line "Have you never had a late night? A lot of shelves to put up?" Which has left me with this headcanon:
*The Doctor at Vilingar sat in a waiting room flicking through a catalogue*
*muttering* Let's see here: Sonic blasters, sonic cannons, sonic disruptors....I'm really going to do the universe a favour by getting rid of this place...sonic screwdrivers‽.... Who could possibly want one of those?...Actually, I could do with some more shelves in the TARDIS.....OK. Blowing up this place can wait a little bit.

reminder that i finally stapled my focus to the front of my brain & successfully wrote part one of my ghost au & u can read it right now! it’s an au in which i ask important questions like “what if regeneration was slightly weirder than it is in the show” and “how fun is it to write total bullshit for an alien plot” (extremely) and “whats gayer than being gay?” (the answer is, of course, being gay inside of someone else. get your mind out of the gutter & put it into someone else’s mind for 3 - 5 business days. get to know them in the most intimate fashion possible & be present as every thought forms inside of their head)
anyway here it is!

Also about 'when is middle age' - people stay 'younger' longer nowadays. An "abled" person in their sixties nowadays is generally expected to be almost as mobile as a 30 year old, without signs of cognitive decline, and if they are showing signs of frailty that's cause for concern. Back when that person was born, in the 1950s or 60s, it was considered just part of being that age. A combination of public health improvements and changes in attitude (like, it's seen that age-related illness and disability can be treated, eased and slowed more now than it was in the past) have made it so people don't get 'old' until their 70s or 80s now.
Like, if you want a concrete example, compare William Hartnell's (First, 1963-66) and Peter Capaldi's (Twelfth, 2014-17) performance as the Doctor. William Hartnell is clearly an old man, whereas Peter Capaldi is a middle-aged one - and quite a zippy one. Both men where 55 years old when they started playing the Doctor.
I was just nodding along politely to this until I got to your proof and now I want to study you (affectionate)

Mark Sloan is SO funny. He loves Derek so much. He's the best man at his wedding. his life is intertwined with Derek's for decades. He sleeps with Derek's wife. Then Derek moves across the country to get away from him because of that. Mark moves across the country too (these men have established careers as surgeons) with the explicit intent of trying to get Derek back. flirts with the new person Derek has feelings for and implies that's not new, their similar taste. when things don't work out with Derek and that girl but Derek gets a new girlfriend he tells Derek he's upset because he thought after the girls it'd just be him and Derek. After breaking up Derek's first marriage. Then he ends up falling for the younger sister of Derek's new wife. also both Derek and Mark's other best friend call him good boy at least one point, the latter during sex, and Mark craves Derek's compliments. which is an important tidbit for me.

i just love how no-nonsense nine was you know? i absorbed all the energy from the time vortex to save rose so now I've got to regenerate. you were fantastic and so was I. rip off the bandage, boom, done. especially in comparison to ten who spends a hundred years meow meowing about his own impending regeneration with his wet sad eyes and dragging it out until the last possible second just to torture us

Rose didn’t think she could remember ever seeing the Doctor without his trademark jacket. It felt natural on him, almost as if it was a part of his body, his second skin even. The sight of him now, wearing only a jumper made of dark-blue wool, was unnerving: Rose couldn’t help the desire to hug the Doctor, to shield him from the grief that he’d been carrying on his shoulders silently, stoically, sadly.

Life lessons from Doctor Who:
With everything going on I'm reminded of the importance/significance of the 11th Doctor episode A Town called Mercy and everything therein.
Not only do you have the doctor's whole survivor's guilt thing that permeates new who, there's a crucial element around the debate of retribution vs. forgiveness and the shortcomings of a simple good vs evil binary system of morality (plus a throwaway joke about a trans horse).
The character of Khaler Jex has obviously done terrible things (albeit with (to him) a good reason/noble intention), however does that mean his subsequent remorse and efforts to attone don't matter? And what does that say about the doctor, or other townsfolk?
When he finds out what Jex has done the doctor's all for throwing him to the wolves and letting him face the gunslinger's revenge in the name of the victims. But Amy throws a tantrum and he is forced to reconsider. Likewise, there's a confrontation later in the episode where the townsfolk are arguing about sacrificing their friend/neighbour in order to protect themselves.
Jex himself says: "It would be so much simpler if I was just one thing wouldn't it. The mad scientist who made that killing machine, or the physician who's dedicated his life to serving this town."
Good people can do bad things, sometimes for what they think are good reasons. But, equally bad people can do good things for their own reasons.

thinking abt thirteen thinking abt the solitract thinking abt something outside this universe brushing up against it, changing it, thinking abt how the doctor is so lonely n old n brings their companions into their strange bright lovely exciting dimension !! n how it always inevitably buckles, if it doesn’t break. thinkin abt thirteen talking softly to the solitract now that she’s home in this universe n Hoping that her friend can hear her through whatever separates them. thinking abt thirteen in jail alone with no one to talk to n the pain knowing what the solitract is/was/will be going through
