#do you think kaeya walks past the winery on his way to take care of the slimes that always congregate—he never cared before but now that you

“he was permanently condemned to hell.” if you hear screaming and crying don’t worry it’s just losing my GODDAMN FUCKING MIND. OH MY GOD. KAEYA WITH RELIGIOUS TRAUMA HITS DIFFERENT. IT HITS SO SO DIFFERENT.
okay so with the blue blood thing we can just be like you aren’t fully divine yet so the blood doesn’t turn blue until. idk you die and ascend or whatever. that’s the excuse i use in my brain!
i interrupted myself. anyways. imagine if kaeya was the one to kill you. when he recounts your death, he has allll the grisly details of how you were pinned to the ground by a sword in your throat, almost the same way you’d pin a butterfly to a board. he smiles as he recalls the way your blood spilled onto the ground and the light faded from your eyes. for a moment, he even scoffs at the tears on your cheeks, remnants of the way you’d cried and begged.
and then he gets the news, and it turns out that he truly cannot do anything right. he tries to be honest and loses his family. he tries to redeem his home and dooms himself. he doesn’t bother praying for forgiveness - no matter how kind and understanding everybody said you were, there’s no way you’d forgive a sinner with your blood on his hands.
me when kaeya. when he. him. he’d be so guilty and fucked up post-imposter and i think it adds to his appeal heart emoji - teddy anon
i did NOT mean for it to be religious trauma but. you have a point.
if we follow my headcanon about the blue blood—that it’s swirly like a galaxy, representative of your power—then it makes sense it manifests alongside your power, and if you blur some lines and squint we can work with that.
anyway i do think kaeya should be the one to kill (that sounds bad) and you. your words man you are so good at this-
he probably wouldn’t pray. and i don’t think, other than the first night getting blackout drunk, that he’d drink, as a form of self-punishment. no, he needs to be awake and sober to truly live through his crimes, for he would only condemn himself more with liquor.
kaeya that stops worshipping at altars or attending service, simply because he doesn’t believe that somebody like him should be in such a holy place. he never takes shifts at the cathedral, and he always takes point on the bloodiest missions. not out of enthusiasm—the sight of blood, even red, now makes him a bit sick—but out of a form of sacrifice. why put blood on innocent hands when he, somebody already sunk to the lowest of hells, can take it?
#m1d : [chats]#m1d : [secrets]#teddy anon#do you think after you descend he’d very suddenly be very busy?#that he’d be taking on more paperwork for an excuse to be in his office; sheltered away as jean leads you around the knights’ hq and kindly#leads you away from the door that’s been permanently closed?#do you think he takes up night patrols to have an excuse to sleep during the day. to not have to hear your festivities as he roams?#do you think he runs into the darknight hero with eyes of embers; eyes that droop when he declines to head back to the city?#do you think diluc is one of your closest friends on complete accident—he’d only wanted to offer you some wine and you ended up talking for#hours about grapes and vineyards and everything about production and bottling#do you think kaeya walks past the winery on his way to take care of the slimes that always congregate—he never cared before but now that you#have taken an interest in the industry he’d hate for his brothers reputation to be tarnished—and as he walks he sees a light in the manor#do you think he hides behind the staff’s houses as you walk by? hearing your voice and wiping away tears as he remembers how you pleaded?#do you think adelinde reports unusual frost and calls over diluc? diluc who stares and recognizes the height of kaeya’s vision and the#pattern of a clutched hand on the wall? do you think he melts it away and reports nothing just as how he’d assured you the rustle in the#bushes the night prior was only the wind or an owl?#do you think kaeya realizes that diluc was right; that diluc was the one who deserved the glory and fame; that diluc deserved your care and#your touch? do you think he traces the star on his gloves and thinks of the one behind his eyepatch—symbols of his eternal lineage of sin#do you think about kaeya?

You and diluc have been together for some time now,you relationship was going great .everyday both of you would wake up and get ready to head to mondstadt.
you usually kept diluc company and also helped him with the customers, but today was different you told diluc that you would go to the antique shop to look and buy some stuff to decorate the winery before you come in the tavern to help him.
some time has passed and diluc started to wonder why arent you back yet? you told him you will be looking some stuff up in the antique shop and its been 3 hours since you were gone, you should be back by now.he tells Charles to take the bartender role for as long as he was gone to go look for your whereabouts and hastily left the tavern.
worry started to take over his body when he didnt see you at the antique shop, the possibilieties started to fog his mind, did the fatui took you?,diluc knew that the fatui were always keeping an eye on him due to his past and that he was the pillar of the wine industry in mondstadt, something that the fatui really wanted to take over for themselves
lifting his head up to look around it didnt take him long until he spoted you on the benches close to the windmills talking to someone, coming closer to see who it is ,he frozed when he realized that it was kaeya who you were talking to.seeing you both talk and laugh made his heart break into pieces, this couldnt be real he thought to himself, did you fallen for kaeya's charm like everybody else,he would lie to himself if he said that kaeya didnt have a way to pull people but he didnt expect you to fall for it too
he started to question himself, how long has your affair has been going on?is this the reason why you would always go to the antique shop just to talk to kaeya, were there any signs that he missed that you were unhappy and made you look for someone else?
the more he stared at you the more he felt his heart ache,he felt felt souless, was this really happening to him, defeated he made his way back to the tavern.
''you are back master diluc''charles greeted
but soon realised that there was something really off about diluc,he knew him better than most people and diluc was being overly quiet today more than normal
''is eveything alright master diluc''charles asked
''yes charles, there is nothing to worry about''diluc replied
walking behind the bar he continued to clean the wine glasses that were left off trying to forget what he witnessed by drowning himself into work
he heard the tavern's door open,he looked towards the direction of the door there was you standing there smiling with a bag on you left hand
''im sorry that im late diluc, how's work been?,i hope i didnt missed anything '' you asked him
''good''he answered.
''is there something wrong diluc?''you asked him but you were met with silence, what was wrong with him today,he was fine in the morning, did a customer made him mad while you were gone?he was always quiet but not like this.you went to ask charles if something happened while you were gone but he also didnt know why he was acting like that, making you worry even more, you cared a lot about diluc, and seeing him sad always made your heart break.
Thinking your night couldnt get worse, diluc avoided you through the whole shift, everytime you asked him ''what's wrong'' he would simply avoid both you and the question,so you waited until you went back to the winery to confront him in private
''everything is fine for the moment'' he turned to charles''if anything happens please let me know''he said, now turning towards you ''let's go home''
his answer was short and cold towards you, what ever happened really must have affected him badly.
Both of you arrived at the winery and you immediatly asked him again ''what's wrong'' but you were met with silence
''diluc just answer me already,im worried''tears of frustration started to run down your eyes
''why are you acting like you don't know''diluc said with his voice raised this was the final straw for him
''diluc what are you talking about'' it was the first time he ever raised his voice at you ,making you shake in fear
''you know what im talking about pretending to go to the antique shop and instead you are meeting kaeya''
''what!'' you said in shock, how could he ever think you will do something like that
''diluc you know how much i love you,how could you ever think i will do something like that to you''
''are you seriously playing dumb right now''
tears streaming down your face, did he seriously not believe you?
''how dare you accuse me of such act after everything we been through diluc''
''it's over,im done talking to you''diluc said still frustrated
and with that you both stormed in different directions. you went to your shared bedroom and locked the door behind you.laying on your on the bed the only thing you could do is cry.was your relationship over, you felt empty just by the thought of it,you couldnt think how your life will be without him,he knew how much you meant to him how would he ever think such thing.
diluc on the other hand went outside to take some fresh air, feeling himself finally calm and now with a clear mind, he thought, did he messed up and you were telling the truth this whole time, was this really the ending of you relationship just like that because of his stupid overthinking,he always pictured you as the person that will spend the rest of his life with, suddenly feeling a hand to his shoulder he turned around expecting to see you but instead he saw adelinde
''master diluc i heard what happened and im really sorry''she said
''its fine adelinde really,i messed up and it's my fault this whole started in the first plays''
''why don't go and talk it out master diluc, you know your mother and father also got into arguement and after they both calmed down they always talked it out and made up at the end''
he signed ''i guess it would be better if we talked instead of screaming at eachother''and processed to enter the winery again.walking upstairs he went to the rooom of your bedroom expecting that you locked yourself inside your and knocked at the door.
''sweetheart please open the door i want to talk to you''he said softly
breaking the silence he heard you scream from inside the room
''please leave me alone diluc''you said your voice hoarse and shaking from crying.
''i beg of you please love open the door''his voice full of worry.guilt started to take over him more than before,he knew he messedd up and now he was going to lose the love of his life because of that
''fine'' hearing the door click and swing open.there was you standing behind the door, eyes red from crying and the trails of your tears still visible on your cheecks
''what do you want diluc''you said your voice sounded souless stripped from all the happyness it had a couple hours ago
''i want to apologise to you,i wasnt thinking straight and overthought the situation,it's my fault this thing started in the first place please forgive me love'' holding your face with his hands making you look at him ''i'm just so afraid of loosing you that i didnt know what to do''
wiping your tears with his thumbs and bringing you closer to his chest, he placed his hands on your waist
''diluc how could you even think something like that, you know how much i love and i would never try to hurt you''you said placing a tender kiss on his lips
it was a soft moment between the two of you that you wished it didnt end, getting to see the vulnurable side of diluc unlike his usual fierce appearance, made you realise that how special you were to him

To Thaw a Frozen Heart [Genshin Fanfic | Kaeya x OC]
Chapter 1
Diluc sat at his desk, a scornful frown painted his face as he glanced at the time again.
Where is she? He paced as he finally heard the front door to the winery open. His eyes fell upon his younger sister, as she tried to sneak into the place quietly. Whenever she turned around she was met with his glare.
Rachel gulped, and Diluc crossed his arms as she walked over to him timidly, "Just where have you been?" He asked lowly. "You know it's way past curfew."
"I-I'm sorry Diluc," his younger sister murmured.
"Tell me what happened," he sighed. It wasn't like her to break the rules. She must've had a reason.
"Ah well..." Rachel looked back up at him. "I was spending some time with Aether. He returned for a moment after his endeavors in Liyue." She explained as her expression went from sheepish to a little more sullen. "We already heard word about what's happened. But there's so much more to it than the stories tell. He's gone through some tough situations. And he still hasn't heard from or seen his sister... I didn't want to stop his venting because of my curfew."
Diluc knew there was some reason. His sister had a kind heart. But her kind heart is what would be her downfall without him around. "At least you had the Traveler there to keep you safe in case something happens but Rachel," he took a deep breath. "I set rules in place for a reason. I can't always be there to protect you. And you don't have a vision nor fighting skills to protect yourself."
Diluc would look over his younger sister. She's grown so much over the years. She is just four years younger than he and Kaeya. He's noticed a huge change in her ever since father died and Kaeya no longer stayed with them. And Diluc couldn't stand to look at Kaeya's face quite often. Some days were worse than others. But the only one left of his family that he had was Rachel. He was called overprotective often. But who wouldn't be in this circumstance? He wouldn't know what he would do without her.
Rachel looked up at him, an unreadable expression formed on her face as she continued to talk. "I know, but... Diluc I'm no longer a little girl. We have friends too, who will protect me in case something were to happen." Diluc wanted to rebuttal her comment but she held her hand up to continue. "I know there's been a lot on your shoulders. You've had to take dads place in literally everything, including taking care of me..." she looked guilty. "For that I'm forever grateful."
"To me it does not matter your age..." Diluc said in a softer tone. "Rachel you are my little sister, I will always be very protective of you."
"Especially since we've lost dad... I know, Diluc. I'm the only family you have left." Rachel said in a knowing tone. Diluc was always surprised at Rachel's astute observations of others. It's like she knows how people think or feel before they even say it. It's why she had so many close friends, and many opened up to her. Rachel was more of a listener than a talker. But she always talked with Diluc. "And Kaeya... he's still family."
This made Diluc clench his jaw. "I've told you many times, Rachel. Kaeya can't be trusted. It's not speculation, it's not out of any random reason why I say this. He *can't* be trusted."
"But he's still our brother," Rachel stood firm. This was the one thing he and Rachel fought on. Kaeya. Diluc had many speculations of the relationship between her and Kaeya. She still saw him as a brother, sure. But he knew there was more to it. A secret crush between them both? Perhaps. All he knew was that Rachel liked Kaeya more than just that. And Diluc would make sure that Kaeya could not break her heart.
"He's no brother of mine," Diluc said in an almost sinister tone. He felt himself harden at the idea of Kaeya being his brother once more.
"You know that isn't true," Rachel replied in a firm voice. He was surprised to see how grown up she had become. It was like she could see into his heart and soul, even though he locked everything away. "He's still our brother... even if you two don't get along. I can see you both still care."
Diluc sighed, "Rachel, we aren't having this argument again. You're to tend to the flowers and the gardens around the winery tomorrow as punishment for staying out so late. Don't forget to do your other tasks as well." He sent her on her way. Rachel looked like she wanted to say something else but her brows furrowed. She gave him this look that she was hurt by him, but she knew that he in the end, was right about some things. Diluc felt slightly guilty as he watched his sister go upstairs to her room. The room she's had since their father owned the winery.
══════ ∘◦❁◦∘ ══════
Rachel fell into her bed as she picked a pillow up to hide her face into it. It felt cooler than the air around her. She closed her eyes as she thought of what Aether talked about earlier. He seemed increasingly concerned about finding his twin. Rachel couldn't help but to feel for him... if Diluc randomly disappeared after she woke up, she'd be in the same position. Plus talking about his adventures in Liyue made her curious enough to want to explore Teyvet. Maybe when she was older...
Rachel sighed deeper as she recalled another part of the evening. One she kept from her brother. She had stopped at Angel's Share to make sure the place was properly stocked up before she would help transport supplies there tomorrow. Unsurprisingly to her, Kaeya was also there.
──⊹⊱✫⊰⊹──
"Hey Rae," Kaeya said in a playful tone. "Come have a drink with me?" There was a mischievous smile playing on his lips.
Rachel shook her head, "You know Diluc would kill me right? Besides, I'm already late returning." Rachel noticed Kaeya's rosy cheeks as he had already been drinking. Probably trying to feel out another bandit that dropped by. Those poor men who decided to get a drink.
"Come on Rachel," he said a bit softly, as he moved a bit closer to her so others wouldn't overhear what was said. "You're already out late anyway. I... wanted to ask you a question."
Rachel had a hard time resisting his natural charm. This wasn't one of those charms he'd use on others to win them over. She and Kaeya have known each other since he got adopted into their family all those years ago. She and Kaeya used to be very close up until he wasn't allowed to return home.
"Fine, you can ask the question. But I won't be drinking," Rachel said with a defeated sigh.
"It's just too bad I have another drink waiting for you at the table," Kaeya chuckled. Rachel let out a short laugh as she walked over to the table he wanted to sit at. There was indeed, already a drink there.
Rachel lifted the cup to her lips, noticing Kaeya's playful gaze as he watched her take a sip. "What's your question?" She asked pointedly with a raised brow.
Kaeya's eyes got a little more serious, but he was still smiling. Albeit the shine behind it diminished. "I've noticed you and The Traveler have gotten closer..." he made an observation.
Just as Rachel was about to take another sip she stopped. Her eyes look over the Cavalry Captain. Her red eyes held a twinkle in them. "We have... he's a friend of mine since he helped the people of Monstadt out. You and Diluc included."
"You know that's not what I'm talking about, Rae," Kaeya leaned forward a bit against the table. She could smell the alcohol from his breath before she took a huge gulp of the drink he gave her.
The drink burned as it went down. "If you're implying he and I are more than just friends... I'm sorry to disappoint you." She smirked slightly. "Even if he and I were to see each other in that way... what does it matter if we liked one another?" She asked with a raised brow, her breath waiting in anticipation of what he'd say.
Kaeya chuckled and leaned back in his chair. "I just need to make sure you aren't sneaking around with another man behind your brother's back. Imagine how surprised and pissed he'd be." Kaeya said as his eyes told another story. His playful glint couldn't fool her. Rachel was really good at reading people. If she were to not know Kaeya for as long as she had, though... he might be impossible to read.
"If Aether and I planned to date, he would be the first person I'd tell," Rachel smirked slightly. "Are you sure there is no other reason for you asking, other than to make sure I'm not secretly seeing someone behind Diluc's back?" She asked with an emphasis on her brothers name. Because she knew Kaeya didn't want her seeing anyone period. Not with their deep bond...
"I'm afraid that's all there is too it," he chuckled and raised his cup to his lips.
"Liar," Rachel said softly as she finished her drink. She was tipsy at this point.
"What can I say? That's my specialty. It's just too bad your specialty is to see the true intentions of people's hearts, huh?" He leaned in, looking deeper into Rachel's crimson eyes.
"That's one way of calling me observant." Rachel chuckled, feeling her face getting hit from the alcohol.
"You're more than just observant, Rae..." Kaeya said in a much lower tone. "You're so scarily observant, I myself have felt that you can see right through my frozen heart." Although the words were said in a sarcastic tone, Rachel knew just how much Kaeya meant those words.
Rachel rolled her eyes at his pun. "Even if your heart was frozen, I'd still tell you that it's beating just like everyone else's. So, stop counting yourself out." Rachel said as a warning. She knew him too well. Kaeya chuckled as he leaned forward a little more.
"It's almost midnight," he said softly. This made Rachel's eyes widen as her head snapped to the clock. Where did the time go? She was so dead... a dark chuckle could be heard from Kaeya. "Good luck, Rae."
Rachel sent a glare his way. "Thanks for the drink, I'll pay next time..."
"No need," she heard him call out as she dashed out the door.
────── ∘❉∘ ──────
"That look you had was entertaining enough..." Kaeya said as he watched Rachel leave. He stared at the glass in his hand now, as his smile dropped. It was always so hard to hold himself back when he saw her. That girl who could always warm his usually frozen and frigid heart. He set the glass against the table a bit loudly.
If only he could allow his aching love for her to be set free. But there were already so many factors in the way. So many secrets hidden from her. All to make sure she never got hurt. He and Diluc both had agreed to not let her in on what happened to their father until she was older. But both seemed to silently agree in not mentioning his betrayal as being a Khaenri'ah spy.
Diluc has made it very clear that he would not interfere with Kaeya and Rachel in having a friendly relationship with each other as long as Kaeya did not step over the line in pursuing the romantic side with Rachel. Well... easier said than done. Rachel was truly the only person who could potentially understand Kaeya completely. And she was such an open heart for him... she would more than likely accept everything about him and still stand by his side even if he completely broke her heart. Kaeya did not want to hurt or use Rachel the most out of everyone. It just annoyed him that Diluc thought he had to lay these rules out for him.
His eyes trailed back to the entrance and exit of the tavern. Kaeya was amazed that he knew Rachel and Diluc so well that even the crazy similarities they had on the outside could not have him compare them mentally from one another. He could not see Diluc as he stared at Rachel. And he couldn't see Rachel when he stared at Diluc. Both with deep fiery red hair and eyes. He chuckled to himself.
Suddenly his chest filled with guilt and sadness. There was an inner conflict going inside his mind and chest each time Rachek left. From Khaenri'ah to the night of their fathers death... the fact that his own father abandoned him to partake in being an agent for the people of Khaenri'ah. He was not supposed to get as attached to these people as he did. But the fact their father was willing to take him in as his own son when Kaeya waited for hours for his own father to return... the way he grew close to Diluc and Rachel as they grew up. He was supposed to be doing his job for his home world which was long gone. Yet he grew to like this world and the people in it. The inner struggle never stopped.
"Charles, I'll take another," Kaeya said as he raised his empty glass over at the bartender with his signature smile. There were still a few patrons left in here he could speak with. Kaeya was very good at using his influence over others. Besides, why not do what he's best at?

Genshin impact Headcanon:
When they have a nightmare:
Rating: angst, fluff, sfw
Featuring: Xiao, Kaeya, Childe, Diluc
Xiao:
You could hear it, the sharp painful grunts that escaped Xiao's mouth.
it was in the dead of night. You decided it would be a good idea to spend the night with Xiao at Wangshu inn. However, you did not realise how difficult it was for him to sleep. With his past, you should have guessed it.
As if writhing in pain, Xiao clenches his fists and turns his head. Sputtering whimpers of desperate pleas and utter nonsense.
“Wait! no.. take me.. instead...” Sweat runs down his forehead.
“Xiao,” You lightly shake him, moving closer to his side.
“Doesn’t... deserve- take me... Please!” he jolts, scrunching his face in agony.
“Xiao!” You slap him hard across the face, becoming more urgent to wake him up. As soo as your palm leave his cheek his eyes flash straight open. Something in them doesn’t seem right..
A quick force shoves you into the sheets, tight hands wrapping around your delicate throat. Xiao’s eyes gleam with crazed panic. His grip is too strong, and your shrieks don’t reach his ears.
Only after he notices that it’s you, and not some intruder, does he take his hands back as if he’s burnt them. Letting tears fall down his cheeks as he rests his head on your abdomen, legs kneeling on each side of your body, arms pulled into his chest tightly.
“I didn't.. no-” he flinches when you bring your hand to run through his hair. Your soft touch brings more tears to his eyes. He leans into your hand, almost purring at the relief of knowing you aren’t hurt.
“Take it slow Xiao. Things will get better, I promise.” You sit up in the bed, causing Xiao to shift his weight, sitting in front of you. You lift your pinkie finger and whisper another “I promise” until he wraps his own pinkie around yours. Kissing you deeply in the process.
Tumblr media
Childe:
Spending the night in Childe’s bed was not out of the ordinary. The ginger-haired fellow seemed enlightened in the fact that he could wrap his arms around you and rest.
But Childe would often have nightmares. Blood curdling agonies of the events he faced in the abyss.
It was in the early hours of the morning when you could hear hard thumps coming from the other side of the house. The other side of the bed completely empty save the thrown about linen, damp with sweat.
You leapt out of bed at the sound of metal clashing against metal.  a thunderous clap ringing in your ears. Fetching the pointed dagger from your bed side table, you sprint towards the entrance to the training room. Perhaps there may have been a break in?
A stupid question. As soon as you round the corner you bare witness to a dishevelled harbinger. Hair tossed about and slick with sweat, eyes peeled towards the training dummy sat pathetically in the centre of the room.
Childe pants hard, centring him balance before hacking away at the dummy’s torso with a sharpened blade. Thinning its waist before it almost comes clean off.
But not before a smaller blade shoots out from its chest. You poke your head out from behind the dummy, giving Childe a winning smile.
“What am I gonna do with you,” you cross your arms. Seeing the way his eyes darken at remembrance has you frowning.
He steps back from you, gesturing towards his trembling build. Tall and strong, but tired. “didn’t think you’d see me like this,” he says. His smile doesn't reach his eyes.
“Nothing a cup of tea cant fix. Besides, we promised to take care of each other right? I’m not leaving your side tonight babe,” you wink at him jokingly.
Childe breathes a sigh of relief before following you to the kitchen. You knew just what to say…
Tumblr media
Kaeya
Kaeya never liked to cry in front of anyone. Well, no one really knew what to say when he did. He was always so cunning and joyful, why would he ever cry?
It was one of those nights. Kaeya leapt out of bed after shaking himself from his night terrors. Trying not to wake you up, he crept from the bedroom before falling to his knees in the study. Furiously wiping his tears and internally kicking himself for being so weak.
“Kaeya…?” Shit. You woke up shortly after he’d left. Knocking quietly on the door while waiting for him to open it.
You could hear a fumbling of things and silent muffles before seeing a very worn kaeya open the door. He was smiling, but you couldn’t tell if it was a smile or a grimace.
“Hey pretty lady, up quite late aren’t you? Let’s go back to bed shall we?” He tries to lead you back to the bedroom. What takes him by surprise however, is when you wrap you arms around his back and embrace him.
“Don’t try and hide it… I love you, so let me take care of you,” he never knew words could break his walls down so easily.
Kaeya looked at you from a split moment before balling into the crook of your neck. Returning your embrace and locking his arms around you waist. You could feel your shirt getting damp from his tears.
You two shared this moment for some time. Kaeya sobbing while you stroked his long hair. It was when his sobs had turning into quiet sniffles that you started to speak.
“Let’s get you fixed up big fella,” you say softly. Holding his hand as you walk him to the bathroom. His face was red and eyes wet. Hair in a dishevelled way. Once you two each the bathroom, you wash his face in a wet cloth before starting to do his hair.
You put it into once long braid, and when your done you take his face in you hands, cupping his cheeks. You smile and chuckle quietly,
“Petty boy,” he leans his head on your chest. Breathing in your scent before leaving a tender kiss on your collarbone, eyes fixated on you with love.
“Oh how could I not adore you?” He kisses you on the lips this time.
Tumblr media
Diluc:
Diluc didn’t hate anyone more than himself. That was a fact. The thing he said to his brother and the actions he’d done to shut people out haunted his dreams. Regret always lingering in the back of his mind.
One of these terrible dreams had diluc walking outside the winery late at night. Tears silently rolling down his cheeks while gazing at the sky. Cursing the stars at his misfortune.
His steps slowed down at the sight of the lights being turned on at the mansion. Hearing a loud bang of the front doors being flung open before seeing you scramble out the house. Bunching your night gown to make sure you don’t trip. Hair flowing in the wind behind you as you looks around.
Your eyes look with him, and you race towards him. But seeing his face raw with emotion has you stopping just a few meters in front of him.
“What’s wrong? God you scared the shit out of me,” you breath heavily. You weren’t even wearing shoes, diluc thought.
He looks at you meekly before whispering, “why is it always me?” More tears falling from his eyes.
Your sad expression and you open arms has him racing towards you instead. Picking you up and holding you in his arms, face nestled in the crook of your neck. He slowly puts you back down as he cries silently.
“Oh Diluc, sweetheart..” your words only make him cry harder. “Let’s go sit”
You gesture him towards the river, and the two of you sit on grass and sit in comfortable silence. Rubbing his hand with you thumb, you let him wrap his arms around you, making you sit in between his legs.
Diluc kisses your head. Silently worshipping your body as if this is your last night together. Slowly rocking you and pressing your bodies as close together as possible. His tears keep flowing, but he’s content. Being with you is all he needs right now.

Hope you enjoyed lovelies xx

As a renowned alchemist, Albedo is very proficient in all alchemical fields, including bio alchemy.
Subsequently, he is also very knowledgeable in the inner workings of the human body, and understands the biological mechanism behind most illnesses and how to prevent them.
Alchemist takes a lot of preventive measures, keeping you on a healthy diet and having you exercise daily. He also begrudgingly lets you out on the walks, with his supervision and far away from any civilisation of course.
He also has a keen eye for changes in your body and he will realize you caught something before you even sense it.
In that case he'll just slip some medicine into your food and you'll get better even before sickness progresses further.
All in all, Albedo is great at keeping you healthy, as your physical well-being is a very high priority to him.
However, the alchemist can become so consumed by his studies that even you temporarily fade into the background.
It’s a very short window of time, but if you manage to get significantly ill, he will blame himself to Hell and back.
You won’t know of his self-loathing though, as Albedo isn't expressive enough, wearing a facade of calmness even if everything beneath it boils and burns
He will quickly find a cure, and do everything to help you feel better as his mind starts to wander into darker places.
Albedo possesses a wide array of knowledge and he knows various cases when simple colds lead to some awful complications that sometimes have cost lives.
Logically he knows it's highly unlikely that you will get that bad, especially under his care, yet the anxious thought remains, nagging at him.
Your illness will be as stressful to him as it is to you. Alchemist's brain will conjure thousands of unfortunate possibilities that could harm you and cut your life short.
Once you recover, Albedo will sigh in relief and rethink his measures regarding your health - he can't let something like this happen again.
Maybe he should start slipping some prophylactic drugs into your food.
Diluc:
Ragnvindr heir is fiercely protective of you, eager to shield your being from any harm possible, including sickness and injury.
Just like Albedo he also takes preventive measures - diet, exercise, monthly check ups, even very short and very supervised walks on the winery territory.
Diluc is a big worrier, he almost always feels low level anxiety especially if it's something regarding your well-being.
He even thought of buying a manor - Dawn Winery, despite its impressive size, is still too small for an inner garden or a courtyard and with a new estate you could walk among greens and get your dose of fresh air without actually going outside, and the possibility of your escape will be lower too.
Diluc also derives some sort of pleasure from caring to you - it’s an act of both love and ownership to him. He will never admit of the latter though, as his feelings regarding your kidnapping are very confused and conflicted - Ragnvindr lies to himself, saying that it was for your protection only. Admitting that he feels possessive of you is admitting that he yearned not only for your safety.
Despite that, Diluc still has to part with you from time to time - he is a busy man having to juggle winery business, patrol Mondstadt streets as Darknight hero and fight against Fatui and Abyss at the same time. He will entrust you in the hands of Adelinde and a couple of other maids who went through a harsh vetting process, ordering them to keep an eye on your health at all times.
He will be more concerned about your sickness than you are, spending ridiculous amounts of mora on physicians and medicine.
The doctor can diagnose with a simple cold, yet Diluc will ask another for a check up just to be sure - who knows maybe the first one has made a mistake, maybe even the second one also misinterpreted your symptoms. Same goes for the treatments, as he has no faith in them either.
He will fret over you like a worried mother hen, but because of Diluc’s usual awkwardness he will fail at displaying his concern, so you will be stuck with even gloomier Diluc looming over you.
He will spend so much time near you he might catch the illness himself.
Diluc will start thinking about buying a manor more often.
Kaeya:
Kaeya isn’t the best at caretaking.
He won’t even believe you at first, thinking that it may be some kind of ploy to fool him and escape. He would absolutely do that if he was in your situation.
Cavalry captain will give you a knowing look every time you cough, sneeze or complain about soreness and fatigue. Who could’ve known that he would rub off onto you?
He will believe you once you develop more severe symptoms, like fever or unstoppable cough, that leaves you shaking and in tears.
Kaeya will jokingly apologize for his lack of trust, but he will be panicking beneath the mocking smile.
A lot of people have abandoned him in the past, and he will view your ailment as you trying to leave him too by dying.
A rational part of him knows that it’s not true, it’s not your fault that you got sick and death is definitely not a way out for you.
He will also reassess the way he views you - despite being talented at interpersonal communication playing on your heartstring and manipulating you into what he wants Kaeya isn’t the best at understanding himself.
Before he thought little of you - you’re a toy, a scapegoat, a stress relief, nothing that holds any significance and cannot be replaced, yet the prospect of losing you puts the whole situation into new light. In less than a day you are mentally elevated from the mere plaything, to someone important, someone irreplaceable.
He won't change the general way he acts around you though, as he thinks of emotional vulnerability and openness as a major weakness to exploit, still being that teasing and infuriating bastard you came to know him as.
Yet sometimes Kaeya will allow himself small moments - things that usually wouldn’t matter so much - a chaste kiss placed on the top of your head, his hand tracing yours, fingers intertwined together. He will also be a tiny bit more lenient when you misbehave.
Unlike Diluc or Albedo, Kaeya lacks funds or knowledge to treat you right away - he can’t bribe multiple doctors into keeping their mouth shut and his knowledge of biology is surface level at best.
He will still try regardless, giving you the same medicine he buys in the rare times he gets sick. It’s a win or lose situation, as his treatment may both worsen and better your health.
Venti:
Venti is acutely aware of your mortality and fragility, memories of thousands of thousands deaths resurfacing everytime he sees you approaching even the hint of danger.
As a result, he is very protective of you, no matter how carefree and childish he may act, as his teal eyes carefully oversee everything you do.
Nevertheless, the sickness, the ailment - this particular aspect of human vulnerability slips his mind - Barbatos, despite his peaceful demeanor, is someone who lived through a lifetime of turmoil - the overthrow of Decarabian’s despotic rule, earth shattering Archon war, Vennessa’s rebellion against corrupt Lawrences.
He always feared that your life would be ended by the stray arrow or a swift sword, not an illness.
Venti will cure you right away using his powers - with gnosis or not, he is still a mighty deity, even if years of absence left him weakened.
Although you’re perfectly fine and healthy now, the bard will still fret over you, scared of your passing.
Expect to have him hovering and being extra clingy for the next few weeks - archon’s life is long and lonely, full of losses and passing, no wonder that he wants to protect you from the whole world.

the kisses they give
sometimes a kiss is all you need to know that they love you.
feat. childe, diluc, kaeya, kazuha, and xiao
genre : headcanons. fluff. slight angst for xiao.
note : a pick-me-up cause these past few weeks have not been nice to me TT i hope everyone's weeks have been good though! lots of love <3
❀ childe
to childe, giving affection is like breathing. he loves showering those he holds close to his heart with love or gifts or whatever he deems necessary to show that they mean the world to him. and kissing is no exception.
considering cheek kissing is a common greeting in sneznhaya (russia) and he grew up in a family where he was heavily doted on and spoiled by his elder siblings and parents, childe has absolutely no problem kissing the people he loves as a greeting or as his form of affection.
which is why cheek kissing or showering your face in kisses is the harbinger's go-to when it comes to loving you.
childe's kisses are filled with love and pure affection reserved for you, as if you needed him or anyone to tell you that directly. you would be able to tell from the way his slightly chapped lips peck the skin all around your face and from the way his eyes of ocean blue nearly twinkle when they focus on you.
due to his duties of working with the fatui and being stationed anywhere in teyvat, childe hardly gets any time to spend with you. so he treasures the moments shared with you during his time off.
the door to your home would slam open with a loud thunk and his hurried footsteps would get closer and closer to you before you're swept into his arms, your laughter intermingling with his as the ginger spins you around the room. it's not long before the spinning stops and your vision is obscured by orange tufts as the cheeky sneznhayan plants kisses all over your face.
no amount of protests will stop him until he's gotten his fair share of loving from you. and even if you do manage to wiggle your way out of his arms, childe would see that as a competition to see who was quicker; you getting away or the harbinger and his hungry lips. [spoiler alert: it's him and his hungry lips, to no one's surprise]
mornings on his days off aren't any better. usually they start off quiet with the golden morning rays seeping through the curtains of your shared room and the faint chirps of the morning doves outside.
but it always ends up in a fit of giggles and smooches when the sneznhayan is in need of your attention once more and decides to kiss you awake. despite your light protests for the man trapping you in his arms so he can kiss you again and again, it's not like you ever want him to stop kissing you.
each kiss that finds its way onto your face [and occasionally your lips] is proof that childe, your sweet ajax, is absolutely enamored with you and you wouldn't have it any other way.
❀ diluc
despite how diluc is around his brother, the young master of dawn winery is not one to shield his heart from those close to him. diluc is just not as affectionate as others are in a relationship, so don't expect him to shower you in kisses when he gets home or scream at the top of his lungs how much he loves you, though it would be a funny sight to see.
instead, he shows his love through his actions. shielding you from the rain with his coat, bringing you closer to him when you both have something to do in dragonspine so you won't get cold, ensuring that you get enough sleep while he stays up to keep watch of the team. it's subtle, but enough to tell you he cares.
kisses on your knuckles are what diluc would give you due to the polite and gentle nature of the kisses.
diluc would kiss your knuckles as a polite greeting, as he was raised to have respectful manners. when he first did it to you, you were quite flustered at seeing the vigilante bow before you and gently plant his lips on the curves of your knuckles.
however, now he gives them to you in more intimate situations. like after you've cleaned him up after a rather rough evening patrolling the grounds of mondstadt. diluc had come home to you in a disheveled state; ponytail messed up, dirt coating his clothing and face, porcelain skin covered in scrapes and bruises. luckily, nothing horrible on the surface.
you're shocked at the state he's in and quickly clean him up. you don't say a word to him however, in fear that he already had gone through enough and you scolding him would just add more to the weight on his shoulders. your fingers brush against diluc's skin and he leans towards your touch, the gentle and caring nature tending to his heart.
he kisses your knuckles, lips warm and soft, as a thank you for taking care of him and as a silent way of showing you how much you mean to him. you're the only one he trusts to see him this injured and the only one he's comfortable enough to let his walls come crumbling down.
diluc kisses your knuckles as a gentle reminder that he is devoted to you and only you. he finds you one night standing alone on his balcony, eyes glued to the vast orchards of grapes that surrounded the winery. it's hard to hide what you're thinking of from the attentive eyes of the vigilante beside you.
when you tell him your concerns that he should marry someone with more influence than you, diluc's brows furrow and his frown deepens. you are the one he loves, and he could care less about the winery or his business. he hesitates when you shy away from his touch, but you quickly find his hand again to hold.
the thick wall that shields diluc's heart crumbles when he's around you, and nothing proves his loyalty and true feelings more than his gentle kisses along your knuckles.
❀ kaeya
a playful and cheeky person, kaeya is someone who makes you want more and more of him. from his mischievous smile to the way your name melts off of his tongue. you can't help but miss his presence when he leaves for a mission and misses a night at the bar with you.
it's hard to miss the smirk that grows on kaeya's face when he catches word of you ever missing him. and it's even more difficult to avoid him as the calvary captain needs to tease you about it and shows up at your work or at your door to bring up the news to you, much to your dismay.
kaeya gives you brief, yet enticing kisses at the corner of your mouth to not only tease you with the idea of wanting more from him, but also because he absolutely loves to fluster you.
the calvary captain kisses you goodbye one night while dropping you off at home after a night drinking at angel's share. you weren't expecting it at all, but maybe you should have once you saw the playful glint in your companion's eye and the cheeky grin growing wider each second you stepped closer and closer to your door.
it's a quick kiss, short yet long enough to feel how soft kaeya's lips were against your skin and how good he smelled from the brief proximity. dazed, you can only stare at the captain with your jaw slack as he chuckled and closed your mouth for you so you wouldn't "catch flies."
kaeya's kisses are even more dangerous when he has an excuse to kiss you. while catching lunch at angel's share one afternoon, his eye catches a piece of your sandwich at the corner of your mouth while you're telling him a wild story about how the traveller killed all of timmie's pigeons one day as a bet.
you don't even have time to react as kaeya's cold hand grabs a hold of your chin and presses his lips against the corner of your mouth, successfully grabbing the grain from your face. the familiar scent of his fruity cologne fills your senses and it takes everything in you to not pull the calvary captain in.
there's a knowing smile on his face when he pulls away and sees your expression. his tongue pokes out from his lips as he licks it clean, smile growing when your eyes flit down to watch his movements.
it's hard to judge kaeya's true intentions when his kisses are so brief and you barely miss them, but everyone around the two of you can see the way the captain's gaze always lingers on you when you're storming away from his teasing lips.
❀ kazuha
polite and yet, always the romantic, kazuha isn't a stranger to showing or receiving affection. although he's reserved and grew up surrounded by nobility, affection is nothing the inazuman traveller strays far from.
fleeting and soft touches are what kazuha is fond of, his fingers always brushing against yours when you walk beside him or linking your pinkies together when you sleep after you've had a nightmare.
inner wrist kisses are ideal for someone like kazuha to give; intimate yet delicate, private enough where only you can see and feel the love he gives you through the simple kiss.
kazuha kisses you on the wrist in the intimate moments shared with one another on the crux. it's always when the two of you are alone and admiring the night sky and the sound of the waves gently brushing up against the side of the boat. the rest of the crew is either sleeping or drinking with the captain on the other side of the boat.
you brush his bangs aside, fingers lingering on the side of his face as you admire the beauty that the inazuman traveller holds.
he always catches you off guard by complimenting you in the most poetic ways. "the stars pale in comparison to you, my love." or "every time i look at you, my heart flutters as if carried by the sea breeze. you alone make the stars dance as if they are rejoicing that you were born into this world, the most beautiful and the pride of the universe."
his laughter floats in the air, as if twinkling like wind chimes dancing in the wind, seeing your flustered reaction to his words and he presses a quick kiss to the inner wrist of the hand that remained by his face. truly, you are the most mesmerizing being to ever grace teyvat.
kazuha's kisses are gentle against the skin of your wrist when he wakes to sound of your gentle humming. he had fallen asleep while resting with you underneath the shade of a thundersakura tree, though it's hard to blame him when your fingers are delicately brushing through his white strands of hair.
his heart swells seeing you so at ease beside him, with your ethereal smile and the way the sun seeping through the branches of the tree illuminated you like the god you were. celestia above must be so jealous of your divinity, but they could never have you so long as he was here to love you.
kazuha wishes there were more words to describe how much he loves you, but no words could ever describe how enamored he feels when you simply gaze his way. so kazuha kisses one of your wrists in hopes of showing you the devotion he has for you.
❀ xiao
xiao isn't one for affection. he doesn't seem the appeal to it: how mortals like the enjoy the feeling of another's hand in theirs or how they find peace with the feeling of another pair of lips on their own confused the poor adeptus.
not like he found any need for it anyways. being affectionate to the one you love was a mortal tradition and what did xiao know about being a mortal. more so, did he even deserve to be loved the way mortals loved one another?
xiao finds it terrifying to love you, a mortal that could easily succumb to the aftermath of his karmic debt. this debt was his own burden to carry and you don't deserve to love a corrupted being like him, someone who only brings despair and destruction to anyone who crosses his path, innocent or not.
forehead kisses are the only kisses xiao allows himself to give you.
they're intimate enough to communicate his feelings for you without saying a word, yet simple enough so that he doesn't overwhelm himself with your presence.
they're to bid you farewell before he leaves for one of his missions as the sole adeptus of liyue. xiao does not know how long he'll be gone, or even if he'd return to your warm embrace. and so, his featherlight kisses are pressed to your forehead before he disappears without a trace, leaving you to worry about his safety on the deck of the wangshu inn.
xiao gives you forehead kisses as an apology for being the one you love. anyone else could have given you a better love than he ever could, could even promise you a future together and grow old with you.
you deserve someone who could openly love you and show you off to those around them, someone who didn't have a high chance of never coming home. all the adeptus has done for you was give you the crystalflies whose light reminded him so much of the stars that inhabited your eyes and the slightly crinkled qingxin flower he picked up on the way back to you.
xiao wonders why you're so happy when he brings you those small gifts when someone else could be giving you gifts of a grander scale.
and yet he's also thankful for you for finding love in someone like him, for showing him the gentleness and compassion the adeptus seldom received in his lifetime. the pain surrounding his heart ebbs away every time you smile at him, like the warm spring sun melting away the frigid winter ice.
one day, xiao would be brave enough to kiss you the way you kiss him, to indulge in all of the different ways he could properly show you just how much you meant to him. but for now, his lips against your forehead is enough.

Just Enough | Diluc (Genshin) x Traveler!Reader
✧ Summary: Between freeing Dvalin and pursuing the Geo Archon, you were constantly moving forward to find your brother with hardly a second to look back. You were in a rush to find your lost sibling, not realizing how your heart had stopped in Mondstadt. Visiting the city while waiting for things to die down after Rex Lapis’ death, you return to a… jealous Diluc?
Tumblr media
➳ Spoilers for the Dark Knight Hero quest and some of the manga background ➳ Notes: lots of fluff, slight angst and jealousy, character development, mutual pining at one point, a long one-shot that covers the (1.0) beginning of the Liyue story  ➳ Navigation
---xXxXxXxXxXx---
If he had only asked you to stay.
To say that these past few weeks were a blur would be a severe understatement. For months you were simply a lost wanderer, traveling from world to world for any sort of clue that could lead you to your brother.
And in just a matter of weeks you were suddenly Mondstadt’s hero.
From bringing peace to Dvalin’s heart to meeting Mondstadt’s infamous Dark-knight hero, you were familiarizing yourself with a people and a place for a world you knew you did not belong to. Learning of the history of the Seven Archons, the Gods’ of contracts or of freedoms, suddenly you were being thrust into it all at once.
You shared the burden of knowledge with a few of Mondstadt’s elite, the true God of Freedom walking in plain sight to the citizens of his nation. And with him, were the quick allies you found side-by-side when fighting a dragon.
It was all happening so suddenly and Lord Barbatos himself was giving you directions to the next country over, to continue on your journey in meeting all seven Archons to Liyue.
To this day, you could fondly recall your final celebration in Mondstadt.
“To think that despite his small stature he can drink so much.” Kaeya commented from his seat at the table, eyes slid in the direction of Venti at the bar next to you. You could see the impatient stare behind Diluc’s eyes, not at all happy that their God was indulging himself so freely.
“Honorary Knight, Mondstadt thanks you for your service.” Jean formally stated, for the nth time since Dvalin had been freed.
“I’m just glad I was at the right place at the right time.” You answered back, offering a placating smile in return.
“Humility doesn’t pay for dinner!” Paimon hmphed next to you.
“But aren’t we at a feast now?” You countered, gesturing to the table.
She sighed again before moving to get a taste of some of the honey roasted ham. “Fine, don’t blame me when we have to settle into that poor excuse of a tent!”
“Please, do not feel you are in any rush to leave.” Jean offered, “You are welcome lodgings at our Favonius Headquarters.”
“With the other Knights of Favonius?” Diluc asked, face completely blank if not for the small upward tilt of his left brow.
Kaeya flirted with you from across the room, uncaring of the other partygoers, “You could always stay with me.”
You laughed lightly and responded, “That’s a hard pass.”
The Cavalry Captain simply shrugged, offering it to you again if you changed your mind before grabbing another glass of wine and walking with Jean toward the busy table.
Barbara was trying different dishes and offering some to her older sister, spouting descriptions with medicinal purposes and flavors that compliment one another. Lisa was no better as Amber egged both of them on, completely sober as she continued to feast on the food laid before her. Other Knights of Favonius that you recognized were scattered about, enjoying the first truly peaceful night in the past few weeks.
“You are welcome to stay at the Dawn Winery, while you look for your brother.”
He relished in the sight of your smile.
“Thank you, Diluc.”
That was three months ago.
And since then you had been thrown into more of not your business but suddenly IS your business, business.
You remembered your last day before setting off from Mondstadt. The Knights of Favonius would surely call on you again and so you had quick goodbyes with Jean and Kaeya the day before. Venti was saved for last, a somewhat light-hearted and yet somber goodbye as he was the first and last person for you to see in Mondstadt.
But Diluc… How could you even start that conversation?
He was the lone wolf with a prickly reputation and an even worse sense of patience. You remembered the first time you even spoke to him, clipped words meant to get straight to the point. Not to mention that he was the first person to antagonize Kaeya, who was one of the few people you kinda trusted in the beginning.
It was not until the side adventures, the little quests you did one-on-one that you realized how much more there was to the edgelord that was Diluc.
Of course, he was still the strict type to focus solely on the mission.
But you realized more about why Diluc had come to be this way.
‘The uncrowned king of Mondstadt.’
As you worked together against the possible abyss invasion of Mondstadt, you poured over strategies and testing of his slime potion. And while slimes were not the hardest enemies to fight, he still complimented you on your form and appreciated your quick style with the sword.
You had a unique style, unlike Kaeya or anyone else of this world.
“Elegant, but deadly.”
You took that as a compliment.
And little by little Diluc opened up to you, cluing you into his personal history.
He and Kaeya were step-brothers, growing up together at the Dawn Winery. How he knew Jean since he was child and once served as her superior in the very organization he now despised. How he still has things to protect, to avenge. And while his description about what happened to his father was nothing more than a quiet stare, you were still grateful that he was entrusting you into his world.
You remembered Kaeya’s words as he discovered Diluc’s nighttime secret:
“I’m glad you’re working with an assistant.”
Kaeya’s tone may have come out scathing, but you knew better. Kaeya and Diluc used to be close, close enough to entrust their lives with one another. There was no doubt that Kaeya still cared about his brother, but with Diluc pushing everyone away….
Again, you were so appreciative that he chose to let you in.
When Kaeya finally left the bar, you turned to Diluc with a smile. “I think my work tonight earned me at least one glass of wine?”
That broke a small smile on his face, not the slight tilt on the sides or the wistful, far off look he got when he recalled something beyond your knowledge.
“Alright.” He waved over a nearby waitress, all of the customers tonight employees of the Dawn Winery. “Let’s take this up to the balcony, I’m going to close up anyway.”
“Oh?” Paimon’s squeaky tone somehow went up another octave in curiosity, “I just remembered I have to ask Venti something! Why don’t you two enjoy your date alone.”
She flew away before you could swat at her for her teasing words, blush apparent on your face. Diluc kept his flat face as he maneuvered things behind the bar, wiping at something before putting something in the below cabinet.
To your surprise, he handed you a bottle and two glasses, motioning with his head toward the second floor. Charles was among some of the ‘customers’ tonight, taking his usual spot behind the bar as Diluc stepped out.
You followed him wordlessly, walking up the steps and out the second-floor door closely behind him. He pulled out a wooden chair next to the table outside, you taking the seat underneath the stars as he plopped down alongside you.
“I thought the stars here in the city would get overcrowded by the lights.” You admitted, “But they’re beautiful even here.”
“Yeah, they are.” Diluc agreed, making you smile before turning to him.
“You’re not even looking at the stars.”
The pyro-user simply smirked, before looking up at the starry sky with you. You relished in the moment, glad to have some time alone with Diluc. Many had commented that the winery owner was so elusive, missing from the bar weeks at a time and unseen within the city walls. And yet here he was, enjoying the crisp air and a glass of wine with you.
“Thank you.” You started.
“Shouldn’t you be demanding thanks from me?” Diluc asked.
You laughed lightly, “Yeah, cause I’m sure that the abyss mage would have totally kicked your ass without me.”
Diluc had that slightly amused expression on, looking a bit more light-hearted as he turned to you with a slight tilt at the corner of his lips.
You continued, “I mean, thanks for entrusting me with your secret.”
Diluc paused, looking you straight in the eyes, probably to gauge your honesty. And he would concede that there was nothing else there. You wanted to be his friend, the first in a long time to have approached him without your own agenda regarding either the winery or his fortune.
In return, he poured you a glass of wine and replied, “You’ve long earned it.”
“Thank you, Diluc.” You took the glass and felt your heart flutter at the brush of his fingers. “I’m glad I got to know you.”
“I’m glad you’re in my life too.”
He shot you another one of his genuine, millisecond smiles before pouring some from the bottle for himself.
“Wine and not grape juice today?”
But he did not answer, instead eyes latching onto the rise of goosebumps on your arms. You could not help it against the crisp Mondstadt air, naturally feeling a chill at this time of night. Without a word, he shrugged off his outer coat, the thick black one he wore at almost all times of day, and rested it casually on your shoulders.
You muttered a small thanks as you snuggled into it. Diluc’s iconic dark coat, a complete contrast to yourself. While you wore a white dress with open sleeves and plenty of skin, Diluc wore black covering most of his body with the exception of his neck and face. Seeing it on your shoulders only reminded you of that fact.
“Don’t need you getting sick anytime soon.” Diluc stated plainly, as he returned to his seat.
You huddled into it more and replied, “Aw, Diluc cares.” Again, you were rewarded with another flat expression. “Or rather, if the events of today are to show anything, you’ve always cared. Just in your own, protective way.”
He slung an arm across the back of your seat, leaning closer before stating in a low voice. “Don’t forget that.”
Your eyes snapped to his, the both of you basically sharing the same breath in your close proximity. His scarlet eyes, usually a searing color when on the battlefield, looked surprisingly tender only inches from yours.
“You mean so much to me, Diluc.” You whispered back, afraid that anything above a whisper would punctuate this amorous atmosphere.
He slowly dragged his face alongside yours, stopping beside your ear and continuing in his low voice. “So do you.”
There was no stopping the shiver of anticipation that crawled up your spine.
You could feel the small smirk grow against your skin before he pulled off and grazed his lips against your forehead.
The expression on your face was practically begging him to kiss you. From the small lean in your side against his arm slung around you to the way your eyes slowly fluttered closed, it took all of his self-control to stop himself before he pulled you closer. He wanted nothing more than to grasp you by the back of your neck, relish in the way you melt against him. To kiss you now and tomorrow and maybe even the morning after at the winery.
Diluc had to remind himself that in less than a week you were going to be long gone.
He did not want to ruin this memory a week from now, asking what if and why. And so he settled on a simple kiss above your brow before leaning back in his seat, enjoying the moment he had with you tonight.
You were disappointed, but actually not surprised. It was a feat in itself that you were so close to Diluc in this short amount of time, it would do no good in pressuring him into anything else. But also, another more rational part of you, had to remind yourself that getting attached to the people of this world would only make it hurt more when you had to return home.
This was for the better.
But no matter how much rational thought Diluc used to push you away, you were sure that you had already fallen for him. From the small interactions with Diluc, you could barely recognize the moment that you were completely enamored with him. It was not during the first time you saw him fight or even the night he leant you his jacket. No, you feared it was much before then.
To think you had gotten attached to Diluc in such a short amount of time.
But then you had to say goodbye.
“Safe travels.” Diluc stated from behind the bar when he saw you enter on your last day.
You were not sure what you expected, a drawn out goodbye or a fore longed hug, but Diluc was still, well. He was still Diluc. And to see him re-erecting his walls before you left for your journey was a sad thought, but needed while the two of you were hundreds of miles away from one another.
But you would regret it if you didn’t say anything.
Instead you settled on, “I’ll miss you.”
The hopeful look in your eyes spelled out exactly what you wanted to hear back.
Diluc instead replied, “You fight good.”
“Oh. Um.” The hesitation was clear in your voice.
Was this really how you were going to leave things?
But with Diluc turning his attention back to the wine glass he was previously wiping, yes. It seemed that this was exactly how he wanted to leave it. Paimon scoffed, but said her own goodbyes before flying away.
“Goodbye, Diluc.”
Outside the tavern, you let your frown grow at that interaction. After everything you had been through together, Diluc complimented you on your fighting? Then said peace out?
“That was really lame.” Paimon commented aloud as she floated alongside you. You could not help but internally agree, but you had a whole journey ahead of you. At least the busyness of Liyue would keep you busy from dwelling on that conversation.
But as you said goodbye to Venti, the both of you stood in silence under the giant tree staring at the city. You thought about going back three times, to get a proper goodbye out of Diluc. But doing so would do neither of you any good, since it would only open more issues.
“No more questions about the other Archons?” Venti asked, voice surprisingly serious.
“Can’t think of anything.”
“None even of a certain… winery owner?” You could almost hear the smile in his voice.
You rolled your eyes and responded, “You’re such a little shit.”
“Hehe.”
You both continued to stare at the city, the marvels of its people and history within its high walls. To think Barbatos and Dvalin were finally free, because of your otherworldly intervention. Venti was truly thankful for you, and while he knew his words were on the more mischievous side, he knew that you understood.
Venti’s voice permeated the air. “Be safe in Liyue.”
You smiled back and offered him a tight hug, replying. “As always.”
To think that the same day that you stepped into Liyue, Rex Lapis was murdered before your very eyes. It was like the Gods actually hated you, having to rely on a Fatui to run away from the government officials hot on your trail.
Since then you had been working with Zhongli to prepare for a parting ceremony. From running around for certain types of Jade materials to singing to flowers, you were happy to take a second to yourself at all. You were afraid that trouncing around Liyue with a bounty on your head would do you no good and often stayed in the wild areas. Visits to the city were for necessities only, which often left you relying on the ever so truthful Childe or the mora-averse Zhongli.
More than three months after your initial departure to Liyue, you stepped back into the walls of Mondstadt’s bustling city, a commission nearby and you figured you were safe simply due to your reputation under the Knights of Favonius.
Venti was the last face you saw and the first face that greeted you, beckoning to join him for lunch. With your final commission of the day finished, you joined him with a smile and ordered some honey roasted ham.
You recounted some of the news to Venti, meeting many of the adeptus and how out of touch they seemed with the region. You described Zhongli from the funeral parlor who always felt like he knew more and played a higher part in Liyue (and you inwardly noted how Venti’s eyes lit up in recognition at the name). And also, Childe the Fatui Harbinger that had you on edge.
“You’re hanging out with a harbinger?” Venti asked.
“Uh oh.” Paimon reacted.
“Well.” You remembered your last encounter with Signora. “It’s complicated.”
Venti paused before sighing, “Is he cute?”
“That’s not why!” You huffed back instantly.
“So he is cute!”
“And rich!” Paimon added, joining in on the teasing.
“Not the issue here.” You stated, “He saved me from the Millelith and helped me get into contact with the adepti.”
Venti’s mischievous smile from the earlier teasing turned blank, as if he was fully ingesting your words. “... Why would he do that?”
“Huh?”
But Venti quickly recovered, waving away the question and urging you to move past it. “Just thinking out loud, continue. What happened after?”
And so you recalled everything from then. How the soldiers followed you all the way up the mountain and how you had to defend yourself from people that were supposed to be on the same side as you.
How there was someone out there with the strength to take down a God.
Venti laughed at you for like, twenty minutes.
After his laughter subsided, he held a hand over his stomach and asked. “They think you killed Rex Lapis?”
He took another look at your pouting face and laughed again.
It only made you scowl further. “I’m glad you think my supposed war crimes are so funny.”
“I think I’m missing the punchline again.” Paimon added.
“Hehe. You’ll be fine.” Venti shot back his mischievous smile, “Besides, I’m sure you’re looking forward to laying low here with a certain… someone here.”
You paused and put your fork back down, “What are you trying to say?”
“Well, the Dawn Winery is throwing a festival tonight.” Venti stated clearly, “Isn’t that why you’re here?”
“Wait, really?”
The mischievous light was back in Venti’s eyes, “I’m sure the winds of fate have brought you here purely on coincidence.”
You sighed and turned to him fully. “You trying to fight, old man?”
“Hehe.” His signature giggle, one you found almost endearing, was undoubtedly mocking you. “We should go together later.”
And true to his word, somehow you found yourself with the Anemo Archon heading over to the bar. To think that it was Venti who introduced you here and now he was bringing you along again.
That is, if you even had a chance to make it inside at this rate.
The area was packed to the brim, all the seats outside in front and on the side of the building already taken. There was a line out the door, many hopeful young women with gleaming eyes trying to get a one-on-one conversation with the current barkeep and owner.
You peered into the open door and saw Diluc and Charles behind the bar, the red-head adorned with his usual flat-expression. It was the first time in months since you had seen him, but he looked exactly as the day you had left. Still the same colored wardrobe and prickly atmosphere, Diluc was still, Diluc.
What did not help was the ever growing line of flirty men and women trying to vye for his attention.
It only seemed to further nail the pit in your stomach.
Was this… jealousy?
You didn’t dwell on the thought for long.
Instead, you considered for a single-second if you should just turn tail now, but Venti must have seen your hesitation and grabbed you by the arm to walk inside. Dozens of eyes followed you on the way in, many people recognizing you as the young hero of Mondstadt and honorary knight of Favonius.
The crowd was surprisingly less inside, but knowing Diluc he probably would have tried to corral everyone to the outdoor areas. Venti continued to lead you towards a table in the back and you saw a familiar red-bowed Outrider.
“I didn’t even know you were going to be here today!” She greeted you excitedly.
“Tone-Deaf Bard here convinced us to stay the night.” Paimon replied.
“Oh?” Her voice lifted in a tone that only spelled trouble, “No matter, I’m glad to see you in one piece.”
“I’m assuming you’ve heard.”
Amber stretched in her seat and lowered her voice, smile turning to a smirk. “Well, I won’t confirm anything. But my suspicions are that the blonde person the Knights were pursuing for stealing the Holy Lyre may be the same blonde person running from the Millelith.”
“What a crazy theory.” Paimon responded as she cleared her throat.
“At least it’s just a theory, right?” Amber replied. “Anyway, we’ll hold the seats. Do you mind going up to the bar to order?”
Paimon chimed up as she floated down into the wooden seat, “Yeah, you should go.”
You barely had a second to object before Venti agreed and was motioning for you to go back to the bar. If not for their eager stares at you, you would have rolled your eyes at how obvious they were being.
“Fine, fine. I’m going.” You stated aloud, getting up from the seat you inhabited for at most ten minutes.
Turning towards the bar, you took in a deep breath to collect your thoughts. To think you fought the Wolf of the North and Oceanid with more courage - it was just Diluc.
“Long time no see.” You greeted, trying to sound extremely casual. “Bottle of wine for one of your favorite people?”
Diluc looked at you for a quick second, then back down to the bar, then rapidly snapping back up to you in surprise. “Hey. Of course.”
Unsure what to say, you responded back with a simple, “Thank you.”
“Didn’t know you’d be in town today.”
“It was all coincidence. Venti told me about your event tonight.” You mentioned, motioning behind you to the table where the three of them were waiting. Amber waggled her eyebrows in response and you turned back to Diluc in embarrassment.
But he was looking at you the entire time. “For a war criminal, you look well.”
“Ugh, not you too.”
“Ironic how you delinquents always return here while hiding it out.” Diluc did not answer, instead openly teasing you.
Honestly, it was a little ironic that you and Venti ran here after stealing the Holy Lyre, just to end up back here while the Millelith were on the hunt for you.
Instead you replied, “They didn’t release any names.”
“Right, it’s probably some other sword-wielding blonde with white clothes and access to the Anemo vision.”
“Obviously.”
To think you were so involved in Teyvat's politics. An otherworldly being with no prior connections to the people or nations was somehow involved with the highest ranking people of every country you’ve stumbled into.
Everyone from the Dvalin team knew about your primary objectives: to find your brother and regain your full power through the seven Archons. And when news of Rex Lapis’ death reached Mondstadt, Diluc could almost physically feel the dread in his heart that something had happened to you. And when the Millelith released their man-hunt of your exact profile, there was no doubt that you were involved.
To see you standing before him, in association with an Archon of all people, it was like a breath of fresh air on his heart. You were here in the tavern, fine and even enjoying the night.
A large part of him wanted to ask about your journey, what was it that had you on the run again? But with the growing line out the door, he knew he barely had time to keep this conversation going.
So instead, Diluc grabbed glasses and a bottle of wine from beneath the bar and asked, “Spare a few minutes for me later?”
You nodded quietly, handing him the necessary Mora before returning back to the table.
Amber did not pull her punches, “So, you guys dating yet?”
You almost dropped the bottle, but Venti was quick even through his laughter.
“Yeah and I’m the Archon of Snezhnaya.” Paimon replied sarcastically.
“Shut up.” You pouted, “It was just nice to see each other after all this time.”
“Oh so you had a good conversation? Did he ask you to stay after? Are you going to stay the night? Did he offer for you to stay at the Dawn Winery?” Amber spit out question after question, not a sense of patience or tact in her words.
Venti was still laughing like the Archon of assholes he was.
While they prodded through their multiple questions, you tried to wave them away to another conversation topic. If Amber was prodding you like this, you could only imagine that the other Knights, such as Kaeya and Jean, were also aware of your strange relationship.
Amber tried to push it a bit more, but you were able to spin the conversation to ask what the others were up to. It was interesting to hear about the little tasks in Mondstadt, small commissions that the Knights take care of in the city as well as guarding the areas further out into the country.
And while you hated to drift off with them sitting right in front of you, your mind often wandered toward the red-head behind the bar. Diluc had personally asked you to stay back later, undoubtedly to speak to you about something one-on-one. Would it be cowardly if you left early? Would the others notice if you tried to make a break for it at one point?
Again, it seemed as if Venti was capable of reading your mind, lightly calling you to attention and putting a casual hand on the back of your chair.
He was not letting you get away from this.
Venti even shifted the conversation to you, asking about Liyue and the local adventures you had while in the city. Unable to ignore the direct questions, you told them about the stories of the people you met so far and the strange events you seemed to be dragged into.
“Wait, start over.” Amber cut into your most recent story about a ship just outside of the Liyue city. ”You just glided down onto the Pearl Galley?”
You paused then replied, “Well. I mean the ship was just sitting there outside the harbor and I was curious.”
“And so you boarded a luxury ship without an invitation?”
“Yeah, so?” Paimon answered with a question, genuinely confused.
“And yet you wonder how you keep getting involved in all these crazy schemes.” Amber answered ambiguously.
“Well, eventually I did get an invitation.”
“But after you were already on the ship.” Amber pointed out. “How did you even glide that far out?”
“I climbed to the top of the nearby mountain and then just dropped down.”
“Wow.”
“Is it really a surprise?” Venti commented, “She doesn’t even follow the proper stairs here in the city. Don’t think we don’t see you climbing over every wall here in Mondstadt.”
“You’re such a weirdo.” Amber sighed with a smile, “You’re lucky we love you so much.”
You continued on with your stories, some in the city and others within hidden temples deep in the wilderness, puzzles and timed traps masking treasures you sought to find. Amber and Venti listened on in rapt attention, asking questions here and there and even teasing you about your constant climbing.
You hadn’t even noticed how the bar patrons were starting to slowly thin out.
The night with Venti and Amber was such a refreshing feeling compared to the nights you spent staring up silently at the night sky, only Paimon at your side. It was nice to hear and speak to other people, to not be on the run and always looking over your shoulder.
Feeling a light tap on the side, you turned to see Diluc standing at attention.
“Hey.” He greeted you again.
“We were just on our way out!” Amber exclaimed, standing instantly with Venti not far behind her. “Mondstadt’s star Outrider has to be up bright and early tomorrow.”
“Which is why you’re both leaving…?” You asked.
“It’s my duty to ensure the safety of the city and we said we were going to discuss something.” Venti answered ambiguously.
You crossed your arms, “Discuss what?”
“The— !” Amber paused, “The thing. You know, with the stuff at the Seven Winds Temple.”
“Right! Let’s get going.” Venti turned to Paimon at the last second, “I think this will interest you.”
Paimon winked at you before turning to Diluc, ”Right, the stuff!”
Diluc motioned you to follow him and so, once again, you found yourself following behind the Pyro-user out the second-floor balcony. However, instead of sitting at the table, you learned against the railing while Diluc stood to the side.
“Wasn't expecting you to be gone for so long.” Diluc started with a flat voice.
You turned to him with a slight grimace. “I’m sorry, I ended up getting caught in something important back in Liyue.”
More important than him.
The implication was quiet in the back of Diluc’s mind.
But that would always be the case. To think that the first person in years to open up his shell was someone who could only be in his life temporarily. You intrigued him to the high heavens - the strange mix of both pride and humility as you fought and carried yourself. You were strong, but merciful. Kind, but a purveyor of your own brand of justice.
It had been a while since he met someone with such genuine reservations as you.
But your time together was already ticking down, from your time in Mondstadt to your time in his world. You were looking for your brother and who knew if he was even in Tyvat currently? It would be unfair to be bitter towards you. And so he resolved long ago to simply cherish the moments you had together.
So instead of snapping back, Diluc teased you.
“I’m sure. I’ve heard of your extensive… wanted days.”
You sighed aloud, “How did the news travel here so fast?”
Diluc smirked, “First Barbatos and now Rex Lapis? What kind of luck do you have?”
“The worst kind.”
Of course, there was something he wanted to learn more about. After he had caught wind from Katheryn in Liyue, Diluc still wanted to be informed about your current situation. To think that you were in close association with one of the high Fatui Harbingers after Signora personally attacked you, it was almost like you were openly inviting trouble.
It also did not help that many of the gossip mills included how attractive this particular Fatui was.
He goes by the alias of ‘Childe.’ Young, but deadly!
A Fatui, but doesn’t wear his mask - for good reason! He’s quite the looker.
I wouldn’t mind if he impaled me somewhere. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Needless to say, his sources did not alleviate his worries.
Of all people? A Fatui was one of your close associates in Liyue? A party of him wanted to snarl, the thought a worse downgrade from the Knights of Favonius. At least he knew Kaeya would do you no harm; he doubted the same could be said about Childe.
Archons, why did he care so much?
Diluc told himself multiple times that your abrupt parting was necessary to keep himself from getting too attached to you. But it hardly mattered when he was worrying this much anyway in spite of that.
Fuck, why did he just let you walk away like that?
Diluc was not going to make the same mistake.
He turned to you and asked, “Like the Fatui kind?”
You sighed, “Believe me, I don’t like it either.”
“And yet somehow here we are.”
“It’s complicated, okay?”
“When is it not with you?” Diluc asked, more hypothetically. And while from anyone else, it may have felt offensive, you could tell from his tone that it was just a tired sigh.
“Tell me about your journey.” He continued.
“What?” You answered with a question, genuinely surprised. “It’s a long story, not all that interesting.”
Diluc took a step forward, taking the spot next to you against the rail as your shoulders touched. “I want to hear it from you.”
You couldn’t help but smile, “Okay.”
And so you recounted your journey to find the Geo Archon, how the adepti set up strange puzzles and at some point you swore you were pulled into a teacup that somehow contained a full domain.
There were also other missions on the side, other things you would do to collect Mora or materials if you were going to get any stronger. Some of them made sense — doing deliveries, clearing abyss camps, and other mercenary like duties. Other instances, not so much.
“Only you would accept a commission from a ghost.” Diluc teased as you recounted the treasure in the mines.
“In my defense, I didn’t think he was a ghost at first.”
“Right. Nothing suspicious at all about a transparent old man in the middle of an abandoned village.”
“I was reading the poster he was showing!”
“And when did you realize he was a ghost?”
“... After I met three other ghosts.”
Diluc cracked a smile at that, only making you pout more. You had adjusted your postures overtime, standing against with rails to your backs as you faced the tavern.
“He paid me good Mora!”
“How…?” Diluc thought about it before waving it off, “Forget it. I don’t want to know.”
You laughed back before you saw the lights inside the tavern switch off, complete darkness in the windows as the remaining employees packed up and went home.
“Oh wow, I hadn’t even realized how long we were out here.” You admitted, “I’m sorry I took up so much of your time.”
“Don’t apologize. I wanted to spend this time with you.”
“Still, it’s already late.”
“You’re right. Where were you and Paimon going to spend the night?”
“Honestly, I don’t know.” You admitted, “Venti convinced us to stay, but I don’t even know where he is.”
Diluc pushed off the railing to stand facing you, “You could stay the night at the winery. We can retrieve Paimon tomorrow.”
What game was he playing? Your disappointing departure with Diluc cutting you off and now he was asking for your time and space back into his life? You hated that he pushed you away just to pull you back in at his convenience. And while you understood his personality tended to keep people at a distance, you had your own limits as to what you could withstand.
“... Diluc, what are you doing?”
“You’ll have to be more clear.”
You closed your eyes, trying to gather your thoughts and hamper down on your rising temper. “Come on, why are you being so nice to me?”
He stared at you expectedly, blank eyes urging you to continue.
It only served to make you more angry.
“Diluc, when I left you hardly blinked. And now that I’m here, after months of us not talking, you want me to spend the night?”
“I told you before how much you meant to Mondstadt.”
To Mondstadt? Not even to himself personally?
You decided it was better to confront him cleanly asking, “Why didn’t you kiss me that night we were drinking here?”
Diluc paused, not a single hint of surprise on his face as you addressed the situation head-on. “Why should I have?”
“Don’t act like you didn’t feel it. There was something between us.” You scoffed.
He noticed your use of past tense.
“Does it honestly matter? You would’ve left anyway, I saved us both the trouble.”
You visibly recoiled in response. “Is that what this is about? I have to go to Liyue and the other counties, Diluc. I have to find my brother.”
“I know that.” Diluc cut in, before you got the wrong idea. “You don’t think I’m acutely aware of that fact? The fact that this is my home and not yours. That one day you’ll find your brother and I’ll never see you again?”
“Wait.”
“Believe me, I know better than anyone that you’re off to find your brother. And I’ll help you in any way that I can.” Diluc continued, not heeding your confused attempts to stop him. “But let’s not pretend like I was anything more than a stepping stone in your journey.”
“That’s not true!”
“Oh?” Diluc’s tone was almost challenging,  “It’s not? So once the dust is settled, if I asked you to stay here with me, would I be enough?”
You stuttered over your words, “I --”
“I don’t want to hear your excuse because we both know the answer.” He cut you off, “I was trying to save myself from that before it happened.”
“Will you let me speak, you idiot!?” Your voice cut through the silent evening air.
Diluc paused, standing a good ten feet away from you and looking angrier than you’d ever seen. But he did, thankfully, stop talking.
“Is it crazy to think that I feel the same way about you?”
“What?”
“Diluc, I’m just me!” You answered, “I have nothing to my name but an objective to find my brother — if he’s even alive at this point. I need to try and I need to continue on this path…”
He crossed his arms, but stayed quiet as he listened.
“But just because I have so much ahead of me, that doesn’t I don’t care about where I’ve already seen.” You took a few steps toward Diluc as you spoke, “You mean so much to me and I wouldn’t ever want to throw that away.”
“You won’t have a choice if you have to leave this world.”
“If!” You pointed out, “Diluc you’re so worried about the future, about me walking away from you forever, but it doesn’t have to be this way.”
“And suddenly there’s an alternative?”
“There’s always been one, you idiot! You just never bothered to actually talk to me.” You put your hands on his chest, the light material of his dark clothes underneath your palms. “I would’ve tried. If you asked me to make this work, to come back to you at the winery back then, I would’ve done it.”
Diluc closed his eyes, taking in your words as his hands snaked down to your wrists.
“Don’t give me empty promises.”
“I mean it!” You defended, “You aren’t just another person, Diluc. I—“
He opened his eyes then, reflecting back to you as hopeful and curious. “You…?”
“I care about you more than you know.” You settled on, still unsure about the extent of your feelings. “Why are you giving up on us before even starting?”
You stared right back at Diluc, his silence paramount to the inner turmoil you were sure he was going through. From his late father to the betrayal from the Knights, there were plenty of reasons why Diluc was so hesitant to connect with other people.
But you’d be damned if you didn’t try.
Your hands felt heavy against his chest. Despite your small demeanor and even smaller palms, the weight of your hands seemed to play seesaw between his heart and mind. He had logical reasons to keep you at a distance, but here you were trying to carve your way through back to him.
It had been a long time since he cared about anyone like this. And Diluc could not even recall the last time he wanted to sorely kiss someone at all. But how could he not want to now? You stared up at him, eyes blazing with determination as you tried to convey your feelings.
“You mean so much to me.” Diluc stated after a few silent minutes, “Let’s make this work.”
The smile you shot him was wide and radiant, a private blessing that only he was gifted tonight. He wrapped his arms around your waist, eager to feel more of you — to envelop you in his arms and keep you within them tonight.
One hand strayed upward, carding itself in your hair and pulling you closer until both your eyes fluttered closed. The soft skin of your lips slotted against his, an endearing frenzy to give one another tender pecks. You could not help the happy mewl that escaped your lips as Diluc licked against the crease of your skin.
Moaning aloud to his tender touch, Diluc was eager to explore every inch of your wet cavern. There was no battle of tongues, simply moving in tandem as Diluc dominated the kiss. You tried to maneuver to give him more access, but with your height difference it was the best you could do.
Diluc lifted one of your legs, wrapping it around his waist and lightly tapping the other to do the same. Eyes clouded with lust, you did as instructed and quickly felt the soft thump behind you, the wall of the tavern helping hold you upright.
You fell more and more into the passionate lip lock, pushing to match his intensity as Diluc connected you in one of the most intimate ways possible. One hand was still in your hair while the other continued its scandalized trail downward.
You prayed to Barbatos that nobody heard you outside the tavern.
The both of you would later attribute this impassioned frenzy due to the prolonged time apart and mutual pining (culminating in a mistake outside on the balcony, twice inside the bar, and the rest of the night back at the winery).
For the first time, you enjoyed the morning sun streaming in through the windows, a lazy arm strung across your waist as you snuggled in the chest of the man you were growing to love.
Diluc woke long before you, hand threading through your hair silently as he resolved to remember this moment. You kissed at the naked skin of his chest twice before nuzzling him, feeling the light arm pull you closer.
“Good morning.” You started, voice muffled against his skin.
But you would have never expected Diluc to be so affectionate.
He kissed the top of your head, murmuring in a low tone. “Good morning, my love.”
Nothing about your relationship was perfect. You still fought and cried like every other couple. But you both knew that what you had was real, willing to fight for it no matter the obstacles that came with the future.
It did not matter that Tyvat was not your home.
Wherever Diluc was, that was where you’d return.
---xXxXxXxXxXx---
Extra: “What if they end up fighting?” Amber asked the other two as they walked down a side-street of the city.
“Then we’ll find out the moment it breaks out. Trust me.” Paimon replied. After all, your Anemo power would only serve to make any fire larger.
“They’ve both been in that pining puppy phase for so long, I doubt it’ll come down to that.” Venti added.
“500 Mora says they’ll be dating by the end of this week.” Amber bet.
“1,000 that they’ll be together by tonight!” Paimon countered.
“10,000 that they’ll be joined in every way by tonight.” Venti added, the mischievous tone not missed by either woman.
“You tone-deaf bard!” Paimon exclaimed as she slapped her hands over her red cheeks. “The traveler is more dignified than that!”
Amber had a hand on her chin, “Dating? Probably. But more than that…?”
Venti held out a hand to both, vying for both to shake one and accept the bet.
Nothing, but a couple of suckers.
Amber grumbled once when she heard the news, but otherwise excitedly congratulated you two on finally accepting your feelings. Paimon’s whine could probably be heard in a fifteen mile radius and Venti’s proud smile didn’t help either — accepting the easiest twenty thousand Mora he ever made.
And, just to gode the tiny guide a little more, Venti turned to Paimon in the middle of her complaining rant.
“Hehe.”

A/N:
The festival idea comes from Diluc’s story 1: “The winery holds festivities from time to time. These events are routinely attended by enthusiastic fathers, eager to introduce their wonderful daughters to the young and single winery master.”

Moments of Despair #1 [Genshin Impact/Diluc x Reader]
Tumblr media
Synopsis: “The man who was on fire and realized it too late.”
(A series of works where the boys deal with the passing of their beloved).
Albedo's despair
Warnings: angst, tragedy, major character death, graphic depictions of violence perhaps
(A/n): Had these ideas for a while after reading @/serensama To Mourn series of another fandom. So much sorrow and feeling I just was inspired to write 😫
_______________________________________________
The moment you fell lifeless in Diluc's arms, he wanted to disappear.
It was raining again, he had always despised the rain. How it trickles down the slope of your cheek, like tears falling from the heavens. The sight of it mixing with your blood creating a thin stream of red rivers flowing beside him. They patter down obnoxiously because time didn't care, the gods don't care, the world didn't care. You were just a small fragile person to their eyes but to him you were his light. A candle that used to shine in his dark world was now dissipitated by the waters of reality.
Many droplets have passed and he was still holding you. Diluc could do nothing but stare. He hadn't shed any tears nor could he make a coherent sound. Perhaps it was because his tears have long run out when his father was held in the very same way. Or it was because he was heartless. He's usually told for being cold and indifferent. But the pain clenching in his chest was proof that he still had one (proof that it was still beating), much to his dismay. It would be better if he didn't.
So why can't he just look away? Your wounds, your bruised features, everything now etched so deep into the back of his conciousness that is was starting to awaken his worst nightmares. They were the source of the bile growing in his stomach. The irony stench filling up his nostrils felt so sickening. He couldn't turn away. You're dead. You're dead. You're dead. As if reality had yet to register, or maybe he refused to accept it, Diluc helplessly gazed down your body with blank and empty eyes.
"Master Diluc..."
Jean's voice called out to him pitifully. He rises up with his back turned, ignoring the stares given to him, "Leave. The knights of favonius are not needed here."
"But she's a Mondstadt citizen," The anemo user retorts, slightly taken aback by his impassive reaction, "It's my responsibility to ensure this case doesn't go unnoticed."
Unnoticed. Diluc scoffs in his mind, what a tasteless joke.
"It seems you weren't listening," he announces as his head was turned ajar so they could see the deep hatred glowing red in his eyes, "Leave. Now."
Jean's lips trembled before barely being able to say, "Alright" and retreating her knights back to the city. Kaeya narrows his gaze at his bother, the sorrow was evident through his pupils. He steps forward until he was arms length away from his brother. Too little too late, another failure was added to the belt.
Kaeya was a man of many words but for once he was at loss of what to say. No underhanded suggestions, no ideas taunting him to spill his thoughts, he simply asks Diluc, "What are you planning to do now?"
Silence. Kaeya couldn't predict what sort of expression his brother was making as he looks at your corpse. It brought a heavy weight of unsettlement upon him and here he thought he had already grown used to his brother's quietness.
Slowly, he turns around while letting the water pour down his face. Kaeya tightens his jaw as Diluc drags his feet towards him, stopping when their shoulders were parallel, "It's none of your concern."
"You're just going to leave her here?"
There was a slight pause which was enough of an answer. The Cavalry Captain sighs when he watched him walk away, what was the point of asking when Kaeya knew Diluc so well? He glances at your form before swiftly shutting his eyes.
It was his concern.
-------
A week later, the staff of the Ragnvindr household could hardly recognize their Master's appearance. They knew not to bother him when he decides to lock himself in his chambers. Diluc drowns himself with work from hours to no end as he connects the findings of the person that took your life. As expected, it was one of his enemies- a fatui member. The question was, which one?
"Master Diluc, I beg of you, please take care of yourself," Elzer pleads.
The pyro user didn't bother to spare him a glance or look at the tray of food he carried.
Food...you always brought them whenever he had to work overtime.
"I do not remember specifiying anyone to be allowed in my office," he voices aloud, "If it's related to business affairs simply leave that with Adelinde and I'll take a look at it tomorrow."
"I understand. But you've been working all day and night yet refusing to take any breaks in between. At this rate, you'll harm your health."
The feather pen in his grip kept dragging it's course, "This is beyond the duties assigned to you Elzer."
"That's because it was a request sent by your father," he adds, knowing that stepping over his boundaries may cost him, "If Master Crepus was still here, I'm sure he would have said the same thing."
Taking a deep breath, Elzer lays out his last card, "And also your wife."
The pen slows into a halt.
No one had brought you up until now. Elzer anxiously watches his Master shifting in his seat, his red bangs covering half of his face but he could still see the frown pressing firmly on his lips. It wouldn't be a surprise if Diluc suddenly bursted at him for mentioning such a sensitive topic, all that matters was his master's well being and Elzer was willing to risk everything for it. But nothing. Diluc turns his attention ever so slightly at the tray he carried.
"Fine, but I'm not eating that."
"What? Wasn't this was her favourite-"
"Do I need to repeat myself?"
Elzer furrows his brows before sighing, "...No, Master Diluc."
He exits the room while carrying the fresh dish of Once Upon A Mondstadt that you loved so much. The door closes with a soft click and he was alone again.
People found it strange how Diluc seemed so vacant to your passing. He didn't even show up at your funeral. Instead, he continues his duties as a Mondstadt nobleman like usual while taking care of business matters associated with the winery. Except those who were close to him could see the difference in his actions. Apathy, he was so mechanical in every task he did. Like a marionette attatched on strings, a doll without a soul. After all, his soul died the moment when yours did too. What remains was a shadow of Diluc and a being existing solely for revenge and duty. He was nothing but a remnant.
Fatigue begins to wash over him and he fights to stay awake. Because once he gives in it will all be over. Once he closes his eyes, he would see your face with a multitude of images from the past. He would hear your voice calling out his name from a distant space as it echoes off the walls of his mind. He would fall into a dream where you were still with him and as always, waking up to see that it was never real.
I should have pushed you away.
Because what hurt Diluc the most wasn't that you were gone, rather, it was how you were still here.
Then you'd still be-
Something breaks and it turned out to be the pen he was holding so tightly. Only now Diluc realized how fast his heart was thrumming as beads of sweat began rolling down his forehead. Focus. Don't waste time. He won't grant himself the liberty of anything when your murderer was still on the run. Every wound they inflicted on you was going to be returned in tenfold. He'll make sure of it. That's why, he refuses to think about you at all. Diluc occupies his mind with other matters since at this point, work was the only efficient method of keeping his sanity in tact.
She needs you to focus.
The door opens and Kaeya enters the room while holding a document, "We found the guy."
His reaction was immediate, "Where?"
"Hm, now that we meet, it's actually quite debateable," The captain notes wryly, "When was the last time you've gotten proper rest?"
"I don't have time for this, either you tell me or I'll do it by force."
Kaeya couldn't help but sigh, "Apologies but you don't seem to be in any state for a fight. I'm sure you know how it would end up if you were to face your enemy right now."
"..."
"Diluc, this isn't healthy," Kaeya asserts, it's been a while since he sounded so sincere, "I'm not here to prevent you from doing what's necessary however, perhaps it would be better if I finished it in your stead."
"No," Diluc stubbornly answers, "Hand that over."
"...Heh, then there's really nothing I can do to stop you it seems," he whispers with a sad smile, "At the very least, be careful."
"I intend to," The pyro user snatches the paper parchment out of Kaeya's hands before opening the window, "Also, if Elzer returns, tell him there's a few errands I have to take care of."
The night was a full moon and the sky was empty, Diluc leaps off the edge and disappears into the darkness. There was no telling of what could happen next. Since you weren't here, it was up to Kaeya to watch over him.
-------
The claymore dropped to the ground with a clang as it soaks up the blood of the fatui he just killed.
Diluc was tired, so tired.
He slumps down against the wall from pure exhaustion, all that adrenaline and hatred went up in fumes, leaving behind whatever was left in his heart: nothing. Two hours, not even that far from Mondstadt, the fatui hid in an abandoned building as he cowarded for his life. When Diluc arrived, he never expected this monster to be so weak. This was the person who murdered you? A pathetic nobody that was simply following orders? This was the reason why he lost you forever?
In the end, the only one to blame was himself, for being weak and unable to protect you. He was supposed to be your hero ("Darknight hero," you'd always tease), the rock that shields you just as you had been the warmth he longed for many years, did he give you enough? Was this enough? He thought avenging your death would grant him a peace of mind and the justice you deserved but deep down, he knew it will never be enough when it comes to his love for you.
"Diluc."
He closes his eyes, he hears your voice. He was so tired, it wouldn't be a surprise if he started hallucinating.
"Diluc."
"I'm sorry..."
The man lets out a trembled breath as he apologized to the image of you in his mind. I'm sorry I failed you. They were repeated like a mantra in hopes to reach you somehow. Of course that was impossible, his feelings, his emotions, love and sorrow altogether will never reach you again. And your arms that once comforted him and brushed his hair with a soothing voice, saying everything will be okay, where are they now?
"Diluc."
"Stop," he didn't want to hear your voice.
"Diluc, I'm here."
"Stop..."
"Diluc..."
He jolts his eyes open and lets out a yell, what was he saying? He doesn't know. All he needed now was to drown out the fake voices mocking in his head. Diluc grabs the nearest object and shatters it against the floor, the dam was broken and it flooded uncontrollably, breaking everything in it's way. The abandoned house was filled with loud cries of a man sobbing with agony like a broken-hearted child. He crumbles to his knees and falls to his side, lifting his forearms while clutching his face.
And screamed.
Archons, what did he do to deserve this? Why do the people he cherish get taken away from him? Diluc never wanted to be the Darknight hero if it meant having his father perish in his arms. He didn't want the feeling of stabs against his chest with every breath he took. He didn't want to feel cold while knowing it was because you weren't here to hold him. He didn't want your voice, your pictures or your memory.
He wanted you.
"(Y/n)..." he chokes. Rolling to his back, Diluc moves his arms to cover his eyes, letting the tears run down to his ears, "(Y/n)..."
For who knows how long, he lays there in the abandoned building and mourns. Diluc doesn't have the strength to move from his position, he found himself staring mindlessly through the cracks of the roof when his voice had gone hoarse. The corners of his eyes still burned and his head was throbbing with so much pain. Maybe he should just stay here but the thought of being in the same room as your murderer was unfathomable.
Picking up his claymore once again, Diluc drags himself out of the door. Where would he go? It's not like he had a home to return to because home was when he was with you. A doll without a soul, the marionette moves as if the strings have commanded him to do so. Where ever it takes him, he didn't care. He just knew he had to go.

Hiiii! I found ur motherly s/o adorable, may i request something similar to it but its Diluc Zhongli, Kayea and Venti?
Hi! I'm really glad you enjoyed the headcanons with Childe and Xiao! I hope you like those too! (´。• ᵕ •。`) ♡
🌸 • With a motherly type of s/o • 🌸
Pairings: Diluc/Zhongli/Kaeya/Venti x GN! Reader
Warnings: None •
Notes: I hope you like it! 💓
Tumblr media
• Diluc •
I think that both of you are just made for each other this way! Diluc cares a lot about you and treats you like a treasure, like his family. You, doing completely the same thing - make him feel loved and cared for.
To be honest, he'd love to have someone like this. You'd very much be the mother and lover he always needed.
Even though sometimes he'd get a bit annoyed by you always telling him to dress up warmly and be carefull whenever he's off the winery - he secretly admires that.
You know that Diluc has a lot of work so you'd try to help him out with preparing his favourite dish for breakfast! Even though there's a lot of maids to do it - you just want to be helpful.
He'd feel quite bad that you woke up early only to prepare him something to eat, so of course, he'd do his best to return the favor by preparing you dinner!
Whenever he comes back at night - from his work as darknight hero, you take care of his wounds instantly! Your touch so gentle, he feels like it soothes any pain on spot, always placing a soft kiss on top of every scratch and bruise.
• Zhongli •
Zhongli.. he.. never really got to experience having a mother, right? If so, his memories faded. He finds your behavior pretty calming and admirable.
I don't think Zhongli is a stubborn person, so you wouldn't have to remind him to dress up warmer or be carefull on his way to funeral parlor.. but I feel like sometimes he'd just happen to forget about breakfast. As an archon, he didn't really need food to survive, so eating got completely out of his habits - but now you're here to remind him! He very much appreciates when you prepare him a cute bento box every morning! ♡ (Hu Tao makes fun of it, but finds it completely adorable.)
Honestly, both of you are great parent figures and children in Liyue love to spend their time around you. No matter if it's just Zhongli talking to them, telling them a story that is surely hard to understand by a kid - or just a simple hide and seek game, you offered to play. (Let's not lie to ourselves, Zhongli can't play that at all but he'd try his best!! He'd probably hide behind a tree--)
• Kaeya •
You know Kaeya overworks himself a lot and you're certainly not the happiest because of that reason. He'd often stay overnight in his office because Jean happened to give him a little more work that expected - but who is he to refuse orders from acting grandmaster?
And here you come, bringing him blankets and putting them over his shoulders when he passes out in his chair,, always making sure if he has something to drink on his desk or if he ate enough and isn't hungry.
You'd sometimes try to convince him to go with you for a short walk around the city, always saying that fresh air will help him concentrate better. Even though it doesn't work all the time, he obliges because spending time with you is something he finds the most comforting.
I can imagine you scolding him everytime he teases someone! Of course he'd find it quite adorable and tease you a lot as well, only to see your reactions. Same happens when he drinks a little too much, you're not letting of that case for a week!
• Venti •
Just like with Kaeya, Venti spends a lot at the tavern. You're not the happiest because of it and try to lower his alcohol addiction to bare minimum.
Whenever Venti plays his lyre or sings a song in public, you're the first one to start clapping when he finishes!! You're just so so proud of him and so amazed that the only thing you can do is give him the tightest hug and tell him how much you love him. ♡
He'd often just sings for you though! Sometimes, when both of you are just resting under the tree at Windrise, he lays his head on your lap and while you stroke his hair, he'd sing about how beautiful, how helpful and how important you are to him.
You're a great support. You always listen to his stories, about the past - about his friend. You always manage to cheer him up and put a smile on his face.
(Also a small headcanon I thought of.) You'd often bring him apples cut into bunny shaped pieces,, he finds it super adorable!!

May I have some comfort from Kaeya? Reader's panicked that they don't love him anymore, but it turns out it was all in their head. When they thought of him they're feelings were numb, but when they see him they grin like an idiot. Bottom line readers terrified of falling out of love with Kaeya
Does my Heart Still Flutter When I see you?
Kaeya x gn!reader
Type: hurt/comfort, story
Warnings: thoughts of doubt about the relationship, distancing
No matter how many times I read over my work I will always miss typos/grammatical errors and I apologize
Tumblr media
It started out as a small question from Kaeya.
I was wondering if you’d like to move in with me.
.
You and Kaeya had been dating for a while, the question shouldn’t have been a shock to you. He, of course, noticed the hesitation, but just laughed it off and gave you some time to consider it.
It kept you up at night, why did you hesitate? You should be over the moon right  now that the person you loved asked you to live with him?
Did you......not love him as much as you thought?
.
The next days proceeding led to you avoiding Kaeya progressively more, your usually late night walks and drinks at the Dawn Winery slowly decreasing. The worst of it was with how much you distracted yourself with commissions and friends, that an even worst thought came to your mind. You were thinking much less and less about Kaeya. You were avoiding the subject so much that at some point in the week Kaeya didn’t even pop into your mind at all. But why? He’s done so much for you, you should be missing him right now, you should be missing his hands holding yours and kissing your face in tired mornings.
The last staw was when you walked in on Kaeya and the traveler having a conversation about you, hiding behind a building as they ate at Good Hunters.
“I haven’t seen you with Y/n recently, are you two fighting?” they asked.
“Y/n has had a lot on their plate recently, it’s only natural they need some time to sort that through.”
“You guys are usually glued at the hip most days.” Paimon added, “Don’t you miss them?”
“But of course, but it’s not much of a concern though, I know it’ll all work out in the end. It’s only a matter of time before we are back together. Unless, you were hoping you can take your chance to steal me away from them Traveler?”
“Of- of course not!”
Kaeya laughed at his little joke, the conversation continued to different topics from there. He was being so considerate and had a lot of hope in you. He even admitted to the Traveler and Paimon that he missed you. You walked off slowly as more doubts filled your head.
You thought long and hard about Kaeya on that night,
Do you love him?
Of course I do!
He has quite a few faults though, he doesn’t really open up about his past even after how long you’ve dated. Now he wants you to move in with him? He’s practically a stranger!
He has his reasons, and he’s told you enough to prove it’s a very sensitive subject for him!
You finally had enough, getting up from your bed. If you didn’t have feelings for him as much as you thought, then you just had to tell him outright and not let it linger on like this. The thought of him caring more about you than him stung, it didn’t seem correct, but the last week seemed like the most proof for you.
You walked over to Kaeyas house, the lights luckily still being on. You hesitated for a moment, but the second you got the courage to knock, the door was swung open. Kaeya’s eyes shot wide open at the sight of you, but it quickly disappeared back to the happy-go-lucky smirk you always see, it seemed a bit strained however.
“Oh Y/n, what a lovely surprise. I guess this means you’re done avoiding me then?” He smiled, but the lack of eye contact you were giving gave him the hint the joke didn’t land well. He simply chuckled awkwardly, “how about we go for a walk.” You only nodded and got out of the way for him to get out..
.
The walk was dreadfully awkward at first, making your way out of town to have a bit more privacy, Kaeya trying to liven the mood with his banter, and the air slowly began to get back to normal, laughing and catching up with each other like nothing happened. It wasn’t until you were about to bring the topic up that a camp of hilichurls spotted you off the banks of cider lake and began to attack.
You both headed into action, moving in a rhythm as you’ve had a million times together. If there were any on lookers, they would watch as you two took down each of them in perfect sync, only needing slight glances and the sound of your names to know what the other meant.
When it finally ended, You both looked at each other. Kaeya, who was just off the shore of the lake, was about to step closer to you, only to step on a fallen hilichurl mask. You quickly tried to move into action and catch him, but you to slipped and both found yourself falling into the water. There was another long pause as you just look at him from his lap, before you both busted into laughter of it all.
God I missed this.
You paused.
I missed him.
Kaeya rested his hands on your hips gently, looking up at you, his eyes sparkling in the moonlight with the same sentiment.
“Can I kiss you?”
You snorted, “Since when do you ask for permission?” He didn’t answer, only gently squeezing his hands still around your hip. You just sighed and leaned down into the kiss. You could tell from the way his grip got a bit tighter and he deepened the kiss a bit more, that you could feel just how much he was tortured with this week as well. When you finally parted, you saw Kaeyas eyes lower a bit, at first you thought something more was going to happen, but instead his finger tips gently grazed a bruise and small scratches on your upper arm. his fingers cold due to the water.
“Did you get this tonight?”
“Uh, no. I messed up a bit on a couple commissions this week, couple treasure hoarders jumped me when I wasn’t looking. But it’s fine, I managed to beat the crap out of them before something more serious happened.”
“You’re really hopeless without me with you huh?” You both chuckle, Kaeya lifting up his shirt a bit to reveal a small bandage on his stomach, “But I guess i’m the same way as well.”
You place a hand on the bandage, noticing the small wince he gave at the touch. “I.... love you Kaeya.”
“I love you to.”
“I really do.” There was another pause, You slowly moving to intertwine you fingers with his.
......
“It’s ok if you’re not ready to move in yet.”
“I know,” You sighed, “It wasn’t you asking me that made me panic, it was the fact I hesitated. Why did I hesitate?! I thought, maybe I didn’t love you, that I wasn’t missing you when we were apart.” Kaeya’s heart panged a bit at the comment but continued looking, rubbing small circles in your hand to calm you down. “I love you so much Kaeya, I did miss you, there’s no reason I should’ve hesitated!.”
He gently took your hands apart and finally held you in his arm, rocking a bit as you cried, “It’s only healthy for couple to spend some time for our selves love, I was a bit, unfocused on the matter as well when I all started. Trying to push it out of my mind and focus on other things. I completely forgot about it some hours even. But then I saw you walking in the distance and it all hit back over again. I think we just confused our loneliness for paranoia about the matter at hand. I missed you very much as well, even if there were times you didn’t cross my mind.” You cried louder, god he’s so perfect. How dare he say exactly what you were feeling like it obvious!
After a couple of minutes like that, and a terribly strong wind that made you aware you’re both soaking wet at night, you parted from the hug with a smile,
“How about we get dry then start coordinating our days off, so you can help me move my stuff in.”

fluff/relationships w the mondstadt crew
characters included: diluc, kaeya, and jean
gn! reader as always <3
tw: fluff??? domesticity??? crack??? ideal relationships w people who will never be real??? also mentions of alcohol!
an: so i’m back w a sequel to my “fluff/relationships w the liyue crew” since you guys seemed to really like it <3 thank you my heart is literally melting 😩 this post was getting too long so i excluded some of the characters but expect a part. 2 (more like part 3 but part 2 to the mondstadt version)!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
diluc
man. this MAN.
that’s it, that’s the headcanon.
he would literally be the most doting lover in the softest ways
SUCH a soft romantic like you thought you knew love??? nah this man will show you what love is
will constantly leave you things around the winery to convey his silent thank you’s and appreciation for you putting up with him being busy for most of the day
it’s always the most thoughtful things ever too like-
you mentioned how nice it would be to have some fresh lemonade with the hotter weather outside but it was too late in the day to actually go to the market in search of fresh lemons
the next day you walked downstairs only to be greeted with a pitcher of cool lemonade with a side of lemon bars
there was a note attached to the handle of the pitcher <3
“i recall you mentioning how lemonade would be perfect for the warmer weather so i decided to make some for you this morning. i hope it’s still cool by the time you drink it. love, d”
pls sir your hand in marriage
he secretly loves it when you usher him to bed after waking up in the dead of night to see him working by candlelight on reports
soft hands on his cheeks gently whispering about how, it’s been far too long and come to bed, darling and there will be time for this in the morning
his protests are light given the dark purple hues under his crimson eyes but he’ll still make a little fuss
don’t let this man fool you tho he’s so so touched that you care enough to check up on him and drag him to bed!!
sometimes on the days he has a bit more free time, the two of you will quickly grab your dinners and race to the highest spot in the winery to watch the setting sun
these moments are always filled with laughter, something you’ve found you’re easily able to pull out of diluc, simply because it’s you
uncontrollable sobbing
he would let you paint his nails black like the angsty man he is
frankly he would let you do anything to him if it makes you happy <3
ok but wait diluc w bLACK NAILS?? AND RINGS??? i would die on the spot ⚰️
on the topic of makeup, this man is surprisingly really good w it
i like to think he learned after practicing on kaeya when they were younger bc kaeya was really into makeup
you found out after babysitting klee one day and trying failing to draw eyeliner on the sweet girl after her “big brother ‘bedo!”
you hastily grabbed some wipes, gently wiping off the messed up design before attempting to dive back in
diluc however, had some down time so he decided to check up on his favorite chaotic duo
only to be met with a pile of dirtied makeup wipes, your frustrated expression, and klee’s growing jitteriness
swiftly moving to your side, he quietly asked if you needed help
you glanced up quizzically before handing him the eyeliner, already looking around to find more makeup wipes when this inevitably goes wrong
to your utter surprise tho the eyeliner is perfect??? two perfect winged lines??? in less than a minute??? WHAT
you just stood there like 😦 before diluc got back up and handed you the eyeliner
you were short-circuiting, klee was ecstatic, diluc was worried about you
ok last thing abt diluc
crack! warning but the both of you like lowkey pranking kaeya
for diluc it’s revenge on his annoying brother; for you it’s good - natured sibling rivalry fun
every time the two of you see kaeya, one of you always swipes something of his
small things really, it could be a pen or a handkerchief
one time, diluc swiped kaeya’s spare eyepatch and from the looks of it, kaeya’s only spare black eyepatch bc he was frantically looking for it yk he’s desperate when he even asked diluc if he saw it
the two of you spent an hour nearly laughing your asses off
all in all, life w him is so sweet
kaeya
pretty boy? pretty boy.
while i can’t guarantee stability, life would never be boring w this man that’s for sure
piggy back rides 🗣 piggy back rides 🗣 piggy back rides
he LOVES it, the feel of you on his back while he’s walking around mondstadt most likely carrying you to your commission
he finds it comforting especially since he can hear the rumble of your voice against him while you recount stories, or just babble on about everything under the sun
he is SO dramatic so obviously when y’all reach the site of the commission he has to kill all the monsters even tho the both of you agreed to split it up evenly
he makes quick work of his set before stealing some of yours much to your chagrin
you scold him but can you really be mad at him when he looks drop dead gorgeous freezing the hilichurls the answer is no, no you cannot be
oh my god ok wait-
he does this thing where he tries to spook you in public
so say you’re getting groceries at the mondstadt general store
you round the corner just minding your own business, looking around, taking in the sunshine
and suddenly you just hear someone drop in behind you but before you can register anything you hear a soft “boo” and hands circle your waist
you jump SIKE let’s be honest you shrieked
meanwhile kaeya’s just laughing his ass off
you can hear his rich peals of laughter while you attempt to regain your bearings
he does this so often you SHOULD be used to it but you really aren’t bc mans is SNEAKY-
he cards his fingers in your hair whenever you’re speaking
he doesn’t know why, it’s just a cute habit and he finds the feel of his fingers in your hair soothing
oH on the topic of comfort, kaeya really likes resting two fingers on the back of your neck???
ik he seems like the type to throw his arm around your shoulder which yes he totally is but during more serious conversations his hand automatically seeks out the warmth of your neck
your neck feels amazing especially during the warmer months due to his chilly fingers contrasting with your warm skin
he likes that he’s able to access such a vulnerable part of you and you would willingly let him
HE GETS YOU MATCHING OUTFITS
no i will NOT take criticism on this i just kNOW he’s that type of guy
it would be those stupid “i’m his” and “they’re mine” sweatshirts like BYE
it’s so cringy but for some reason it’s oddly adorable and you truly despise it but you can’t seem to say no whenever he asks
you pretend to ignore the look of pity diluc throws your way whenever he sees you like this
kaeya really loves accessories so i think he would be the type to give you a promise ring or something similar to show that he truly does care for you
he would brush it off, flirting a little like usual before handing you the ring
with the way his cheeks softly darken though, you know he’s being genuine
TICKLE FIGHTS ik i mentioned this for childe but shhhh
he has tickle fingers??? his hands just loOK like they’re itching to tickle someone so you’ll most likely be the unfortunate victim
he will not show you mercy. at all. he’ll tickle you until there are tears streaming from your eyes, your face is hot, and your voice is hoarse from laughing so damn hard
it gives him such a rush of serotonin its SO CUTE
i feel like this goes without saying but he’s super into pda,,, anything and everything is on the table
hand holding? duh. ass grabs? ofc. carrying you bridal style around mondstadt? why not
ik he’s typically very playful but once the relationship reaches a certain stage, he’ll slowly start to let down the walls that surround his facade
very very slowly show you the more realistic parts of him
the real, damaged pieces of his soul
he’ll be carefully monitoring your reaction though, any sign of fear or disgust will have him recoiling within himself again and you most likely will never see his true nature ever again
SO BE CAREFUL 👹
once you’ve seen the parts of him he’s offered to you, the hushed whispers of his past, and the uncertain lines of his future, he will take off his eyepatch
pretends like he’s not super nervous but he’s SWEATING-
the prettiest thing you’ve ever seen though hands down
you can understand why he covers it up but you would like it if he felt comfortable enough to take off the eyepatch occasionally when he’s with you
also!!! sleeps with his eyepatch side facing you (in the event he wears it to bed)
if this happens you KNOW he trusts you bc it’s his blindside <3
anyways life w kaeya will never be boring but he is a very complicated man
stay with him though, i promise it’ll be worth it
jean
the key to jean’s heart is coffee and food
GET HER COFFEE AND FOOD
i am begging you she deserves it 😭
the poor woman works so hard bc the knights are so mf understaffed, this is literally the best way you can ever show her your love and appreciation when she has work
she will MELT if you have a hot shower and dinner waiting for her when she inevitably returns later than she promised
will completely refuse at first with, “you did not have to do this, it’s too much” but shush her as you shOULD bc she deserves the entire world
she’s the definition of “you do something for me, i’ll return the favor ten times grander”
you leave a flower on her desk bc it reminded you of her??? you’ll wake up to find a whole bouquet of the prettiest windwheel asters you’ve ever seen the next morning along with a thank you note
she’s so sweet BYE
she gets flustered extremely easily so you obviously use this as an opportunity to tease her
when you’re in public rest your hand on her waist and inch it higher until your hand is underneath her shirt and in contact with her warm skin
she’ll actually short-circuit its quite adorable
sometimes y’all will be cuddling and you’ll hear whispers of her insecurities
“am i a good grand master? will i ever be as valiant as vanessa?”
reassure her!!! tell her that she doesn’t need to be like vanessa, she’s already amazing as jean
if you haven’t seen her in awhile, track her down and schedule a lunch date
she never misses appointments and if it’s for you, she’ll gladly make time to see you even if she has to stay up even later than usual
OH-
GIVE HER MASSAGES
she has so much tension and the sorest muscles from hunching over papers and running around on errands
if you sneak into her office and quietly stand behind her before gently pushing down on the sore tendons of her neck, she’ll genuinely fall over on her desk
so make sure you steady her 😀
after you feel how tight her muscles are though, you drag her to barbara bc she needs a healer asap 😭
while most of your time is spent in her office - you helping out in the ways you can while jean is overseeing knight duties - you still have your fair share of life outside of the favonius headquarters
jean never likes to sit still so whenever you have free time, the both of you head off looking for monsters to clear
bouken da bouken???
adventuring w jean is seriously the funnest thing you could ever do
it’s just non-stop you accidentally getting into trouble and her having to come help you
even tho the both of you are dead tired after fighting, what? 20 hilichurl camps now??? the laughter and joy in your eyes shows how you both truly loved every minute of it
it’s both a stress reliever, good fun, and a work-out <3
you’re definitely prone to getting dragged to angel’s share w kaeya
kaeya and jean sometimes hang out after work at the tavern so inevitably you’re dragged along too
all three of you are drunk out of your minds which just makes everything a MILLION times funnier
kaeya slurring over his words makes the two of you start cackling endlessly while diluc just shakes his head making sure to not give you more wine despite your pleas
angel’s share ft. kaeya and bartender diluc are always the best times fr fr
life with her literally feels like y’all are married
so much domesticity it’s so NICE ALJDKSFH
your house is always so clean and the color scheme is impeccable bc jean has such a good eye
you have a chore schedule 😎 but it almost never works out bc jean ends up doing everything without you knowing-
you always confront her abt it and she’s like 😁 “i had some time so i did them! no worries tho” like i- time??? where bitc-
oH- she has amazing style so you can bet shopping w her is literally the best experience
she takes you to all of the hidden gems some places lisa recommended and helps you pick out things
will 100% get really blushy if you come out in something and ask her for her opinion tho she’s literally the cutest
basically jean is a sweet girl who deserves the entirety of teyvat that is all.
thanks for reading! if you have any requests don’t hesitate to send them in <3

His love language
» Kaeya x gender neutral reader; no pronouns used
» Fluff with a hint of angst » Warnings: Spoilers for Kaeya’s character story; very small mention of death » Words: ~1k; headcanons + short drabble » Author's Note: Hello Genshin Impact fandom

» Receiving: Quality time
Kaeya is a man who thinks that he is good at hiding his true feelings behind his words – his teasing remarks, his playful comments and witty comebacks can truly distract you from the subject at hand – and even when he is backed into a corner, he will always know his way out somehow. Especially regarding the topic of his past, his relationships with the people he used to be close to, the loss of the people he loved the most, the list goes on
It takes some time and observation skills to figure out that Kaeya often feels lonely. Maybe you notice it yourself, maybe the Traveler points it out to you, but you start to notice the nostalgic looks towards Dawn Winery, the wistful sighs when the bartender tells him to go home for the night or when he asks you to see him again soon with an urging undertone that he tries to hide with a smug grin
When you start spending more time with him, you can watch the walls he built around himself slowly crumble as Kaeya learns how to open up again when he is alone with you
He starts telling you of his time at Dawn Winery, only bits and pieces at a time during normal conversations before he moves on too quickly for you to ask questions, telling you he spotted an Abyss Mage nearby. If you ever bring up the topic of his past, he shuts you down and closes himself off for a few days. It is the best if you wait for him to talk about it on his own terms
Whenever you go out of your way to spend time with him, Kaeya feels his heart warm. It doesn’t matter to him how the two of you spend your time together, it only matters that it is with you. He values it when you offer to take care of Klee with him and casually chat while you watch out if Jean comes near so Klee can blow up stuff in peace. He values it when you accompany him on missions as well as normal strolls through the forests of Mondstadt and visits to the tavern in his free time
Being with you doesn’t allow his mind to wander into dark places even though he is still scared of being left by you one day. If it is by his own doing, naturally drifting apart or your death doesn’t matter to him- you leaving is something he fears though he would never say that out loud, and asking for your reassurance feels impossible to him so he just holds your hand a little tighter as he hopes that it will never happen
Even though Kaeya loves to talk to you, being silent with you feels surprisingly nice. Most of the time it is an easy and comfortable silence that takes the void after your joined laughter died down over time, fatigue of the long day of work slowly taking over your bodies. You only hear each other’s breathing as you watch people walk down the streets of the city by the window of your shared home. Not wanting to interrupt that silence, Kaeya takes your hand to intertwine your fingers with his own whilst pressing a kiss to your temple
 » Giving: Physical Touch
When you spend time together, Kaeya is always touching you in some way. It is not to show off to anyone that you belong together (okay, maybe it is, a little) but in the first place it’s to reassure himself that you are still there
He often removes his glove and takes your hand into his own, intertwining your fingers when you walk somewhere together. Even though his hands are quite cold and feel rough from the many fights in which he has raised his sword, his touch is gentle. He almost absentmindedly runs his thumb over your skin as you wander through the city together
On other days he simply puts his arm around your waist or shoulders, or he rests his hand on your back
When you’re alone, he likes hugging and kissing you unexpectedly, like wrapping his arms around you from behind and pressing short kisses on your exposed neck
He gets flustered when you’re the one initiating affection. Surprise him with a kiss on the lips and he melts. Cup his cheeks while doing so and Kaeya is like putty in your hands. He often jokes that it’s scary how much power you hold for being able to fluster him so easily, though with this sort of teasing he wants you to shut him up with a kiss and he always meets you halfway
He can get clingy sometimes, especially while cuddling. He refuses to let you get up when you want to, especially in the morning
His favourite things while cuddling are having your head rest on his chest or vice versa while you play with his hair. It gives him an additional sense of security to listen to your heartbeat as he falls asleep
 » Bonus:
Kaeya pulls the blanket over his body and shifts around until he feels comfortable enough. You raise your arms to allow him to rest his head on your chest and he does so after landing a quick peck to your lips. “You’re warm,” he mumbles sleepily before he notices the book in your hands. “Didn’t you get this one almost two weeks ago? Lisa’s going to be furious if you don’t return it tomorrow.” He earns a short chuckle from you, and you lower the book to look at him. His face isn’t visible from your perspective, only a sea of blue hair, but you’re sure that he’s smiling. “You’re right, that’s why I’m trying to finish it on time.” Kaeya hums and sighs deeply, inhaling the familiar and homely scent of your bedroom. Old books, fresh bedsheets, tea. Home. He hears a page turn as you continue to read.
“Love?” He asks after a while. You hum to let him know that you are listening to him.
“Can you read to me?” Kaeya feels one of your hands lower into his hair, brushing through it with your fingers as you cleared your throat and started reading the book out loud, slowly lulling him to sleep.

you can do it! [albedo, kaeya, childe, zhongli and diluc]
s/o has been going through a depressive episode and lacks motivation to finish their work and is getting anxiety because of it
tw: none, mentions of depression/anxiety, nothing too much. fluffy comfort <3
albedo x gn!reader, kaeya x gn!reader, childe x gn!reader, zhongli x gn!reader, diluc x gn!reader
a/n: self indulgent bc i'm way behind school and in the middle of a depressive episode so motivation's been lacking ;-; hope you guys are having a good week tho!
i would like to clarify that if any of these scenarios/hc's of mine are similar to other writers' works, it is unintentional and i apologize
albedo
oh? unmotivated you say.. self depricating thoughts? intrusive ones too?
albedo was never one to mope around when he was stuck on some problem he's yet to puzzle together, but seeing you exhausted, anxious and so... dull–he desperately wants to take all your worries away
he's a bit slow, failing to realize your depressive episode for a few days. as it prolongs, he notices how you seem to talk down to yourself and give up easily
sometimes, you don't even start work at all
this is due to your anxiety, he assumes as you think you're incapable of finishing or doing the work satisfactorily enough.
pulling you into an embrace from behind as you work on the projects you've been stuck on for the past few weeks, he gently whispers into your shoulder
"darling, have you been alright recently? are you in need of assistance?" he asks
he presses a loving kiss on your neck and you stifle a chuckle
"it's that apparent, no? i've been under the weather for quite a while now.."
as you explain your reasons and all your troubles to his end, he nods and hums ever so often
"you must be feeling drained, hm? well, frankly enough, i seem to need a break myself."
"eh? albedo where-!!”
he pulls you away from your working place and carries you to the couch, laying you down gently as he smiles at you
"aside from your unmotivated self, i reckon you need reassurance for those intrusive thoughts of yours."
and that, ladies, gentlemen and folks, is how you end up cuddling with albedo until the sun sets and you fall asleep
bask in the comfort of his words as he calls you his everything and more :')) <333
kaeya
my, oh my. what's gotten into his precious little love?
he's sharp, quite easily takes notice to your frantic and dim self.
he sees you sitting outside, head in your hands and sighs leaving your lips every now and then
unbeknownst to you, he creeps behind you and presses a careful peck on the nape of your neck, causing you to flinch and look back quickly
he was about to laugh at your cuteness, but as soon as he's reminded of your troubled state, he sits beside you and takes your face into his hands
sir we're in the plaza-
"oh archons, why is my sunshine so dim these days?" he pouts
rip u probably after this
"kaeya.. well, you see-"
and as you explain your current doubts and anxieties, he strokes your cheeks softly and looks into your eyes fondly
when you're finished, he nods and presses a light kiss on your forehead, a silent promise to accompany and help you on your endeavors to face your troubles
"i'll always be here for you, my love. if there's anything i can help you with, do not hesitate to come into my arms, hm?"
"noted, mr. suave"
jkjk o r a m i
he laughs and kisses you on the edge of your mouth
"what say you we head into the tavern for a bit? you could use some relaxation, right?"
as if you had a choice other than to say yes
childe
this man would know the second it started
having a bunch of siblings has its benefits huh
when he walks into your shared room and sees you on the edge, tears brimming your eyes he sits you down on your bed
"hey, hey.. i'm here, it's alright."
as you cry in his embrace, he rocks you gently, shushing you softly in an attempt to hinder your tears
"you can tell me if you're up for it, honey. i'm never too busy for you."
"i-it's just that-"
mhm. oh? why, how dare they treat you so harshly. really? why must you have to be burdened so heavily?
he acknowledges your struggles and worries with gentle strokes and brushing through your hair
"you have it really rough, don't you? ah well, nothing we can do but-"
"childe?"
he stands up and leaves the room for a second
he comes back with food, drinks, your favorite clothing of his, a scented candle you bought and some books you have yet to finish reading
the action warms your heart as you sniffle and smile at your lover
as soon as he lays down with you, prepare to never see daylight again as he won't let go for the longest, and i mean longest time ever
"i love you, y/n. you're strong and don't let anything, not even yourself, make you think otherwise."
zhongli
dearest, must life be so unfair to you? why you out of all people?
zhongli is wise–he knows something is bothering you when it does. that being said, he isn't sure whether or not he should approach you so directly
especially if it seems like a sensitive topic
instead, in your depressive state and anxious fiddling, he calls you over to him
he pulls you into his lap as he takes your face into his hand and kisses you tenderly
"my dear, has anything been bothering you? might i offer my hand in dealing with them?"
you'd think kaeya's mr. suave then this man pops up with his broke ass
"as a matter of fact.."
as you go on and state your dealings and troubles, he listens with an almost solemn look
he looks at you with utmost affection and concern when you finish
"the terrains of life have been steep and intimidating, you have been very commendable for braving through these, my dearest."
he places his lips onto your own and strokes the back of your head lovingly
for a reserved man, zhongli easily expresses his affection for you in multitudes of ways
his kisses being one of them
after parting your lips, he peppers your face with his kisses and you laugh quietly at his ministrations
"might i suggest a quick stroll to take your mind off things?"
you agree, thinking that once you head home, you'll be back to work with a clearer mind
little did you know mr. no money in his pockets got a liiiittle surprise for you as you won't be returning to your work any time soon :DDDD
by 'surprise' i mean he's taking you out to dinner
yall nasties
diluc
diluc is a busy man, dealing with a winery and all
along with his night profession (which he has only admitted to you and the traveling duo)
you did your best to hide your troubled self and aid him in his work, but you can only hold the facade for so long before it eats you up inside
when you break, he is slightly taken aback but is quick to comfort you
he sees you shaking and situates you on his couch as he sits beside you, rubbing your back as you curl into his figure
he's very warm
"sweetheart, would you mind telling me the problem?" he asks
he waits for an answer as you're still trying to find the words
"diluc, i'm sorry for bothering you.. i know you have plenty on your schedule and-”
"y/n, you're my top priority, no matter what. my work is nothing compared to what you mean to me."
and it's true, you're really his top priority
woohoo !! :DD
when you explain your anxieties and doubts to diluc, he's very understanding and listens to you earnestly
"-and that's why i've been so.. down, let's put it."
he strokes your face and presses his forehead to your own, looking you in the eye softly
he pulls you in tighter and closer, pressing kisses to your jawline and below your ear
"thank you for expressing your troubles with me, my love. i'm sorry for not noticing earlier."
"no need, love, you're very busy and i can't thank you enough for taking the time to understand me."
he pulls away for a second and shakes his head
"again, my work is nothing compared to you. i am willing to put aside all my responsibilities for a week in order to ensure your happiness."
uh wh a t
"ah," you laugh concerned, "sure–"
"which is what we're going to be doing this week." he smiles
welp. no turning back now
enjoy ur week with the redhead you utter s i m p

hmm this is like my first time responding to a request thing so here goes: (slight webtoon spoilers!!)—- imagine if you/reader finds out about kaeyas secret accidentally, before he told diluc. how would he react to that? i’ve given some thought into it and i’d love to see your perspective!
dark whispers
plot: hurt/comfort, reader finds out about kaeya's secret before anyone else
contains: kaeya
warnings: WEBTOON SPOILERS, the story takes place before the start of the game, approximately 5-6 years, alcohol, acting under the influence, you can even say underage drinking, curse words
the sun had long set behind the mountains adoring the territories of mondstadt city. it's people had already closed their shops, workshops and businesses, having gone home to their families, many of them possibly already drifting off to sleep.
some individuals, as everyday, be it a workday, weekend, or a holiday, decided to go entertain themselves with different kinds of alcohol at the local tavern.
but to some of the mondstadt folk, that day, that evening was a special one, for it was a celebration of the ever so famous master crepus' adoptive son, kaeya, turning seventeen.
the night fell special even for regular customers, not only the ones celebrating, for it was rare for the master of the dawn winery himself to pour drinks and serve them at his establishment. for the birthday of his son, though, he had abandoned his normal nightly duties, and stood behind the counter for a good couple of hours, giving one speech and joining everyone in singing happy birthday for the young knight.
he had gone home around an hour ago, leaving the happy, slightly drunk bunch of customers in the hands of a younger bartender.
"alright" kaeya's older brother, and cerpus' firstborn, diluc, had made everyone quiet with the way he clapped his hands, a sly smirk on his lips as he looked his friend and brother in the eyes. diluc, being older, already knew the taste and... other qualities of alcohol a little better than the blue-haired boy, so he found nothing but amusement in the way kaeya couldn't find balance on his chair, or in how his eyes just wouldn't focus on one spot, instead wandering around the walls and ceiling of the tavern. "kaeya" he called out, making the boy face him with a dumbfounded look. "you're one round of shots behind me"
kaeya's expression changed to distressed within seconds, as he examined the three glasses before his eyes, wondering if he'll even fit those in his stomach.
"is yer head made out of stone or sum?" he slurred out "how're ya this sober?"
diluc laughed, pointing to the glasses.
"less complaining, more bottoming these out" he rushed, arms crossing at his chest, as he leaned back on his chair and observed his little brother struggle to make the decision.
"go to hell" kaeya mumbled, emptying the drinks one by one, a grimmace coming to his face right after he had laid the last glass back on the table. "what even is that?" he asked, unamused, as diluc responded happily:
"firewater."
a smile of satisfaction painted the redhead's face.
"what?" kaeya's eyes widened "how'd you even get this past father?" he leaned lower on the table, studying diluc's expression. „that’s like, forty percent sheer alcohol!”
"i have my ways" he responded enigmatically, and kaeya shook his head in resignation.
"aight" the birthday boy took a deep breath "your turn. ya don't want to loose now, do you?" remains of a grin lifted the point of his mouth, as diluc chuckled, pouring the transparent liquid into the glasses yet again.
"what's the prize?" you asked one of their friends, having come late to the scene of the challenge.
"oh, the one to loose has to do the other's chores for a month" the guy responded, eyes not darting away from how diluc managed to empty all three glasses, much to kaeya's dispair.
hours had passed, and everyone slowly left the birthday party, diluc leaving kaeya in your hands, as he helped the bartender clean up the mess the young knights had made. you asked the blue-haired boy if he wanted to get some fresh air, to which he nodded, you can't say eagerly, but nodded nonetheless. so that leaves you to where you were now, slowly walking towards your place, kaeya bumping into your side every now and then as he lost balance.
"did you have fun?" you asked happily, eyes focusing on his face, waiting for a response.
"yea" he murmured, not even sparing you a look.
"poor you, are you that wasted?" you continued, amused, as a hiccup left his throat.
"'m not wasted" he denied instantly. " 't was nice to spend some time with diluc, we all know i don't have much of that left"
your eyebrows furrow in confusion, as you stop in your tracks, making him stop, too. he seemed to have thought this was a normal thing to say, and politely waited for you to start walking again, but you didn't, instead crossing your arms, and asking again.
"what do you mean by that?"
he scoffed, almost rudely. " he's gon' hate me for life, isn't it obvious?" he slurred, head lifting to look on the starry sky, hands going deeper inside his pockets. your expression turned even more confused, as he stared up, acting like it was the most natural thing to say, and like everybody knew this.
"what's he gonna hate you for? he's your brother, he loves you deeply, right?" you wanted to rub his arm, or something, do anything to soothe the feelings that must've been eating him alive, but stayed still.
"brother" he scoffed again. you couldn't possibly see, from the angle his head was at, but hot tears flooded his eyes as he said the word out loud, and the moment of silence that came after, he used to calm down even the slightest bit. "i think that's the most beautiful lie i ever came up with, y'know? brother." he repeated.
"what- what do you mean by that?"
"i've been nothing but a useless homewrecker to his family for as long as i have been in this world. how did i ever find the audacity to call myself his brother? oh my, even i hate my guts for this." he chuckled, painful irony overflowing his voice "and my dearest, short-tempered diluc is gonna flip the fuck out, for sure"
"kaeya" you asked, growing to be scared of how mysteriously he was acting "is there anything you wish to tell me?"
you swallowed a gulp in your throat by saying that, and awaited the reply in stress, even if you didn't know why.
his gaze finally came down from the sky, as he looked at you with a sad smile.
"if it was up to me, i'd wish not to tell a soul anything. but i have been lying for far to long, and my so-called family did nothing to deserve that. nothing, nothing bad, ever, and yet they've been cursed to deal with one like me. truly unfair, the fate of this world. how kindness pays off in nothing but sorrow."
you could tell he was a bit more sober by how his words were more understandable than before, but he was still far from his right mind. you would've stopped him, but there was really no going back now, and you almost needed to hear what secret he was talking about.
"my dearest" he said, addressing you "please, do not get angry with me as well. i don't know what i'd do if i lost even more people than i intend to with this information."
after you nodded in confusion, he explained the story, briefly and in a twisted way, having little control over his slurred words.
you stood there in silence for a good long while as silent tears rolled down from both yours and his eyes.
"i'm sorry" he finally mumbled "i'm sorry, i swear i didn't do what i was designed to do, i didn't tell anyone anything, i didn't attempt to harm anyone. it wasn't my decision to make, i swear, i hold no loyalties to-"
"kaeya" you interrupted him, and he feared for the worst. "that must've been so confusing for the little kid you were"
the worried tone of your voice, the way your words were covered in affection, the way your eyes seemed to care, it all flooded his wrecked soul all too quickly and all to strongly, making him gasp for air, as if it was knocked out of his lungs.
"you- you don't think i'm a-"
"no" you interrupted again, afraid of how he might finish the sentence. "and neither will diluc. i can't promise you he won't be mad, because he probably will, but you're brothers, by blood or not. you're gonna fight and you're gonna make up, because no anger will ever top the love i'm sure he has for you. and if rougher days are really coming your way" you said, approaching him to wrap your arms around his shaky form. "then i'll stand by you to face them with you."
little did you both know. the date of diluc ragnvidr’s 18th was approaching faster than anyone could ever anticipated.

Kaeya
When Kaeya asked you to be his partner to one of the largest events in all of Mondstadt, you were beyond excited - this was an opportunity you had been waiting for - you’d always wanted to dance with him, and this was the perfect opportunity to do so
You did your best to get ready, not knowing if this or that outfit would be better to wear, and the anxiety of having to meet him at the event hall was weighing on you
“Y/N!” You turned your head for the thousandth time, so many voices had called out to you the moment you descended the stairs, their eyes as powerfully overwhelming as their voices. Luckily, this voice was someone you were relieved to see. Amber gripped onto your hands and pushed herself between you and the many bodies standing just a bit too close. “You look incredible! I’ve only ever seen you in your adventure clothes.”
“Haha, I couldn’t come to a ball dressed like that, could I?” You glanced down at your attire, it had taken you a long time to decide what to wear and even though you settled on this, and were getting compliment after complement, you only cared about one person's opinion. Where was he?
“Well, you look incredible!” She gripped your wrist and pulled you along, shouting at people who refused to get out of the way, her peppy voice breaking through all the many others calling for your attention. It was strange to be the center of attention. You’d seen so many of these faces around town and they didn’t seem to notice you then, so why all the affection now? It made you feel self-conscious.
When you were finally away from the sea of eager eyes, you took a deep breath. The new, less crowded space letting in relief to ease your nerves.
You looked at Amber and smiled at her, she always seemed to know how to bring you just what you needed, her kindness knew no bounds and you were we happy to have a friend like her. “Have you been here long?” You asked her.
“Pretty much, I’ve been helping plan this event for a while. I’m happy for it to be over honestly, who knew planning something like this was so exhausting.”
“Ha, maybe that’s why Diluc always has a sour expression on his face. Too many events.”
“You’re probably right! Ah, can you imagine stern Diluc planning a party? I’d die.” She laughed and the cheery vibrations seeped into your weary skin, your nerves made it easier for you to have an emotional reaction and with her disposition you found yourself laughing with her.
“So,” you looked out over the dance floor, noticing the tables full of food and drink, people standing in small circles chatting and laughing away. “Who else made it tonight?”
“Oh, are you looking for someone in particular?” She tilted her head and smiled at your flustered state.
“N-no … what … shut-up.” You frowned and looked away from her.
“I think you’ll see him soon, he had something to do but it won’t take him all night.” She must have noticed your disappointment because in an instant she made the decision to get you something to eat and stuck to your side until you had a more natural smile on your face.
Any excuse to be close to you he is all for, it doesn’t matter what the occasion is, he will find a way to hold you, touch you - he just cannot get enough of you
When he invited you to the Favonious ball, he knew you’d quickly take up his offer and join him, there wasn’t a question in his mind that you would deny it
He had several things to prepare for and was frustrated that he couldn’t bring you to the event himself, but he knew you’d show up and once you did he’d have all night to spend with you - that was if he could make his way through the barrage of people who were flocking to you as soon as you stepped through the door
He stepped through the hallway, his footsteps echoing off the walls as he made his way toward the ballroom. Lisa had given him a few ‘last minute’ wardrobe adjustments, and while she cooed over how handsome he looked, he hated how tight the suit was around his neck. He pushed his finger between the collar of his dress shirt and pulled at it.
As he turned the corner, he could already hear the sounds of the party drifting up toward him. He hoped it wasn’t too late, his work had kept him longer than he wished and it was well past the time that you said you’d be there. He was frustrated and eager to see your face.
The light from the ballroom washed over him as he stepped onto the balcony. There were still plenty of people enjoying themselves below but he only cared about one. His eyes scanned the crowd, heart filling with dread as he failed again and again at finding you among them. Then he saw you, your back leaning against one of the pillars, your arms crossed around your chest, eyes looking at the outrider who seemed to be holding you in a lively conversation.
He smiled and quickly made his way down the steps, his hands slipping into his pockets as he did so.
People were engaged in discussions, which normally he would be interested in as these were great opportunities to gather information, but his focus was on something much more important.
“I’m going to ask them…” A voice caught his attention so he slowed his pace.
“Don’t even bother, they haven’t danced with anyone the whole night. They’ve just been talking with that brunette for hours.”
“I’m pretty persistent; I know how to win someone over.” Kaeya looked at them, his gaze lingering for a moment before catching you in the same place you had been. He watched as they made their way toward you and the stab in his chest pulled at the back of his mind. Quickly, he unbuttoned the collar of his shirt, the freedom of it spurring him on as he pushed his way toward you.
--
“Hey, I couldn’t help but notice you haven’t danced with anyone here. I know, you’ve just been waiting for me to ask you all night.” The man smiled at you, but there was something unsettling about the way he did it.
“No thank you, I’m not interested.”
“Come on, it’ll be fun. You won’t regret it.” You were getting irritated at this point, not only had he interrupted your conversation with Amber, but he wasn’t the only person to ignore your first no.
“Again, I’m not interested.” You turned away from him hoping that if you didn’t look he’d just walk away.
He placed his hand against the pillar and leaned in closer to you and you were about to show him how strong your disinterest was when you heard a familiar voice.
“How rude of me to keep you waiting for so long, I came as soon as I could.” You looked behind the man and saw Kaeya standing there in formal attire, his beauty seemed to know no limits - frustrating.
“Kaeya!” You stood, disregarding everything and flashing him the brightest smile you could.
“Am I too late for a dance?” He held out his hand to you and without hesitation you took it. He led you to the dance floor leaving behind a confused, dejected suitor and excited Amber in your wake.
He spun you around as soon as you reached the dance floor, a hand resting on your hip and the other holding your hand. “You look stunning, did you get dressed up all for my sake?” He looked down at you and his smile made your legs weak.
“Maybe … don’t let it go to your head.”
“Too late.” He laughed and you forgot how much you missed him. It didn’t matter how long you waited, for him, you would wait an eternity.
“I heard a rumor about you.”
“What rumor?” You looked up at him and caught the mischief in his eyes.
“That you haven’t danced with a single person here, is that true?”
“... It is … I only …” You looked down at his chest before continuing. “I only wanted to dance with you.”
His hands squeezed around your hip and you felt him pull you closer, “How lucky am I. Sorry I made you wait.”
“No! You don’t have to apologize.” Your head shoots up to meet him, your voice a bit louder than you planned, but he doesn’t seem to mind.
“Well let’s give them all a show, shall we? I mean, I have to make sure they know they’ll never stand a chance.” The two of you spend the rest of the night together, the jealousy of all those who wished they were Kaeya apparent as they started to fade away the longer the two of you held one another. Kaeya couldn’t be happier, he was completely fine with them dropping all hope of being yours - that space was for him and him alone.
Diluc
You were having a great time enjoying the festivities. Practically everyone had been invited to the winery to celebrate the coming of the new season, it was one of the most popular events that could happen
The two of you had been catching each other here and there, but with how busy he was taking care of everything, and how popular you were becoming as a dance partner or at least an interested dance partner, the two of you continued to drift past the other
Diluc was getting more and more irritated as the evening went on. There were so many things distracting him from where he desperately wanted to be. Instead of being at your side, he was busy hosting conversation after conversation with potential business partners, dealing with the drunkards who couldn’t seem to keep a responsible handle on their booze, and drifting between staff to make sure they had what they needed.
Reasons like these were why he typically avoided hosting events, but it was always fruitful and he needed to keep old connections and build new ones. Still, when he had a second and his eyes drifted through the crowd to find you, he felt the heat rise in his chest as he watched you dancing in the arms of someone other than him. He wasn’t mad at you of course, he was frustrated with himself that he allowed others to touch you, you were just too kind - a trait he loved, but one that also pulled at his heart.
“They are incredible.” He heard someone share with their friend. Glancing up from his work he saw just who they were in discussion about.
“I wonder if they are seeing anyone?”
“I haven’t heard anything …Hey, If you don’t go for it, I will!” They laughed and while he couldn’t tell if their intentions held any weight, he hated that the idea was even present in their minds. Again, it was on him that people didn’t know you were seeing one another. The two of you looked like good friends with the way you respected his boundaries, and his reservation at being expressive with his affections for you. He clenched his jaw before walking away.
---
Your legs were starting to ache from the amount of activity you were requesting of them. So many people had asked you to dance, and you didn’t want to be rude, as a guest of Diluc’s you wanted to make sure to be as kind and thoughtful as you could. However, with the amount of energy you were expending on everyone else you were starting to feel the effects of it all. So when several more, slightly persistent, patrons came to ask you to dance, you found yourself leaning to decline.
“Excuse me,” they began, “If you would be so kind, I’d love to have the next dance with you.” You looked up at them and saw their nervous smile. It hurt to reject them, but you desperately wanted a break.
“Thank you, but I’m going to have to respectfully decline.” You nodded your head and noticed there were other eager dance partners standing behind them. “I need to rest a bit, everyone has been so lively, and I’m running out of stamina.” You laugh in an attempt to make your rejection more lighthearted.
“If you don’t want to dance, we can do something else!” They sat down next to you, their arms perched on the table, body leaning in way to close. They began to ask you questions, which was fine until they started to get more and more personal. You did your best to answer them, but when they asked the next question it was a challenge to get them to accept your response.
“Everyone is dying to know,” another asked, you turned your head to them and waited, “are you seeing anyone?”
You averted your gaze before responding, “Yes. I am.”
“What!?” | “There is no way?” Their voices hit you at once and the loudness of their shouting drew eyes from other party-goers. They badgered you for a bit, all asking different questions at the same time, making it hard to hear them all. One stuck out and when they spoke the group got quiet.
“I’ve never seen you with anyone.” You looked at them, their arms crossed and lips turned into a frown. “You’re pulling our legs.”
“No, I really am seeing someone.”
“I don’t believe it, you're just using that as an excuse.” Their words made you angry. You didn’t own them anything and you were being plenty kind, and, that kindness, was starting to grow thin. “Tell us who it is and then we will believe you.” They placed their hand on the table and looked directly into your eyes. You were about to answer them when you were interrupted by the person himself.
“Y/N.” He spoke and the voices around the table died down, you looked at him and felt unbelievable relief.
“Diluc.” You stood and walked toward him, his hand open for you, a gesture you were surprised by. Carefully, you placed your hand in his and scratched the side of your head.
He looked at you, his eyes heavy on your skin. “Sorry I’ve been so busy.”
“It’s okay, I don’t mind waiting.” His thumb rubbed the back of your hand, there was no way people couldn’t notice how much that affected you.
“Hey! What’s going on … are the two of you …?” The person stood up and placed their hands on their hips. Their shouting drew the eyes of others again and everyone at the table stilled as they waited for a response.
“Yes, and I ask that you don’t cause them any trouble; I won’t tolerate it.” His tone had a hint of a threat and it made your chest tight. There was a shockwave of disbelief that ran through the crowd, and the whispering made your ears burn. Diluc looked at you and you looked back, “Shall we?”
“Mhm.”
You followed after him, his broad shoulders a sight you never got tired of seeing and when the two of you held each other in movement to the music, you knew there would be no secret to your relationship now. Diluc made that clear from his words to his actions, and as the music began to fade and the sun dipped below the cliffs, he bravely showed his feelings for you as his lips touched your cheek.
Childe
He’d be all about showing you off to others - he wants to make it clear that you and he are an item no matter where you were
You went with him back to his home-town. It was a long trip, but so worth it to be with him, to see where he grew up. It took a while to get used to the chilly weather, and in fact you had to layer up extra carefully in order to bear the cold
His family had prepared for him a welcome party and had practically invited everyone they could to celebrate his return. Even if they knew it was only temporary, as his membership with the Fatui often kept him on the move, still, it was nice to feel so loved and welcomed with such a joyous event.
They also knew he would be bringing someone special back with him. It was a demand which plastered every letter he received from his siblings. He knew if he didn’t bring you along there would be a reception colder than the snow that never melted.
Of course, the two of you arrived hours before the start of the celebration. This gave his siblings and other family plenty of time to introduce themselves to you. They asked you question after question and when it was finally time to get ready for the party, you noticed how rough your voice had become. You definitely knew that Childe was a member of this family, he too knew how to wear out your voice.
Childe changed clothes quickly, it had been so long since he wore those clothes from this region. As he looked in the mirror, the way the outfit rested snuggly against him, it made him even more nostalgic than he already was. He was waiting out in the large living room, his mind playing out memories of his childhood in this house when a sound caught his attention.
His younger siblings giggled and shouted in excitement and as he turned to see what was all the fuss he felt the air in his lungs leave him. You were dressed in a traditional style outfit, your hair styled to fit your attire, hands fussing with the clothes you weren’t used to wearing. When you looked up at him and smiled shyly he felt an incredible urge to lock you behind closed doors and not let anyone lay their eyes on you.
You walked toward him, ignoring the loudness of his siblings, “They said this would be okay … Do I … look alright?”
“You look incredible.”
“Thank you.” You drop your head, looking at your hands and he desperately wants to pull your face back to him, but is interrupted before he gets the chance.
“Let’s go already, big brother!” Teucer shouts, already standing at the door.
“Shall we?” Childe extends his elbow to you and you take it.
---
He had been watching you dance with the members of his family for a while, and while it moved his heart to see you laughing and doing your best to learn the moves, he wanted to hold you in his arms himself. He wanted you, to have you experience his traditions first hand through him. So, when he couldn’t handle it any longer, he finally asked you to dance.
“You all have been keeping them so busy … I’m going to steal them back now.” He exclaimed, barging into the game you had been playing with his younger siblings.
“That’s not fair! You’ve been able to keep them to yourself for so long. We want to play more.”
“You can after I’ve had my fun, let’s go.” He pulled you away and their cries sounded as you drifted further from them.
“I was winning!” You exclaimed, laughing as he pulled you behind him.
“It’s my turn to have your attention.” He turned and pulled you close to him. You could feel his energy through his fingertips, it was familiar, like the time he saw you talking to that stranger in one of the bars of Liyue.
“Childe, you can’t seriously be jealous of your family.”
“You don’t know me at all, do you.” He spun you around and when you realized you were out on the dance floor you knew you were in trouble.
“I’m not very good at this yet.” You try to explain to him but it falls on deaf ears.
“I’ll teach you, just follow my lead.” He nodded to the musicians and they began to warm up, their music drowning out the chatter. Quickly, he leaned down and kissed your forehead before offering some last minute encouragement, “Let me show them all how spectacular you are.”
He loved every second of this. The way your feet stumbled over his as he moved with you across the dance floor, the way your face flashed through different expressions: joy, concern, embarrassment, confidence. He couldn’t get enough of you, there was never enough of you. How was he ever going to be satiated with you around, especially when you were embracing his home, his family with such unbound acceptance.
He wanted to swallow you up, he wanted to lock you to him for the rest of time, and the more you let him take, the stronger his desire became.
As the music drifted into its final crescendo he lifted you in his arms and spun you around. There were countless couples surrounding you, all shouting and cheering on the excitement that rippled from the center of the dance floor. When he stopped and you slid a bit down his chest, your shoulders at the height of his chin, hands gripping tightly on his shoulders and face dipping down to him with a smile that told him everything he ever needed to know about you, he let the words fall from his mouth, finally being as honest as he ever had been.
“I love you.”
Albedo
Albedo wasn’t too fond of parties and get-togethers, it was a lot of energy to expend on the discussions or interactions which he’d much prefer to stay clear of, at least if he can get away with it. Still, he had promised to make an appearance, and when he saw you he was much more inclined to stay
He loved to watch you have a great time, you were so independent, doing things whenever you felt like it and experiencing life as it happened. Unless it was explicitly told to others, most wouldn’t have any idea that the two of you were seeing each other. Most of the time that wasn’t a problem, as your busy schedules kept you distracted, but as he watched you mingle with the citizens and partake in the festivities, and how you drew the attention of interested eyes, he was starting to get jealous
These sorts of festivals drew in travelers from all over Teyvat. Most of them only blew in with the wind while others stayed longer after the final banner was removed. It was something that almost everyone in Mondstadt took part in, even those who often didn’t get out much -- and he was one of them.
Albedo made his way through the streets greeting citizens as he passed by, a quick nod or hello here and there. It was Sucrose who had encouraged him to take a break, reminding him that he was likely to see you down in the festivities. So, he put away his work for the day and headed out of the research labs toward the cheering below.
When he saw it was like the sun shined on his face for the first time in days. He felt so warm and was eager to reach you. As he got closer, he couldn’t help but notice the many faces that were turned to you. It was strange but he tried not to let that oddity hender him in any way. That’s when he started to hear the conversation you were having with someone, the closeness of them to you, and the way they didn’t seem to leave you alone.
It wasn’t like him, either, to let his emotions get the better of him, but having to listen and watch others take notice of you, something inside of him grew and he wanted to make sure they knew their hands would never reach yours.
--
“Hey.” A man walked up to you and injected himself in the conversation you were having. You stopped what you were doing and glanced at him, curious. “Would you be interested in dancing with me?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I’m not much of a dancer.” You smiled at him and tried to let him down easy. In fact you’d love to dance, but only if it was with a particular person, and he didn’t seem to be around at the moment.
“It’s okay if you aren’t, I’m happy to teach you some moves.” He took a step closer and his first impression of friendliness was slipping into pushiness.
You started to tap your fingers against your leg, the motion becoming more intense the closer he got. “Really, I’m not a good dancer, you’ll find more luck with someone else.”
“Come on, it’ll be fun.” He reached for your hand but was blocked by another. When you looked at the owner and saw it was Albedo, your stomach flipped.
“Albedo?” You turned to him, a smile on your face and relief in your voice.
“Excuse me, but I believe they said they weren’t interested?”
“... ha, what are you their boyfriend?” They laughed and continued talking, “Listen, why don’t you let …”
“Yes, I am.” Albedo interjected, cutting the person off.
“What?”
“We are together.” They looked confused, their eyes moving back between yours and Albedo’s. Albedo looked down at you and noticed the expression on your face, “Is that not the right way to describe our relationship?”
“No! I mean, yes, that’s right.” You looked at the person and gestured to Albedo, “This is my boyfriend, I’m his … we’re together, yes.” You nodded your head way too many times, but the point seemed to get across to them anyway. They left in a huff and you watched them leave before standing and turning to Albedo.
It was the first time the two of you had ever really said those words out loud - of course you knew in your minds that you were a couple … but to say the term which let the outside world know of your relationship, well it was so exciting
You felt your face get hot as you remembered how factually he had spoken, how quickly he answered their question. You couldn’t help but pat your face and pinch your cheeks
After that, the two of you wandered through the festival, eating delicious food, participating in the activities, laughing and having interesting discussions, as you always did
When night started to drift over the event and only a few people remind in the city center, you found yourself back in the place where your time together started, music drifting through the air
You had such an incredible day. There were times the two of you were so busy that you would go days without seeing one another, so to spend an entire afternoon together was like a gift.
“Today was incredible.” You express, the excitement and joy from the day making you click your tongue against the roof of your mouth.
“I can tell you had a good day.” Albedo replies, smiling at you.
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah, you click your tongue like that when you’re happy … sometimes when you’re focused.”
“Ah, really! I’ve never noticed.”
“I think it’s cute.” He stepped closer and grabbed your hand, his grip soft and gentle. “So I know you don’t like to … I was wondering … would you like to dance with me?”
“Yes!” You answered much quicker than he expected, your voice startling him a little. You covered your mouth and laughed, your eyes squinting.
“Let’s go.” You took his hand and walked until the space felt right. Albedo let go of you before turning to look at you. With an elegant bow he requested your hand once again, you returned the gesture, not wanting to be rude and also trying your best to not scream with excitement. The music swelled and your bodies moved closer, his hands wrapping around your back while yours draped over his shoulders. You rested your head against his chest and let the wonderful day drift into a wonderful night, you and Albedo sharing in a moment with one another. No worries, no interruptions, just one another swaying to the sweet mixture of music and distant conversations.
“I’m glad you could make it today.”
“Me too.”
