Saturday Night Karaoke - [2022.08.08] Dejection EP

Denger pertama itu lagu Compro(de)mise, yang dirilis dalam bentuk video lirik sebagai single pertama dari EP ini. Oke nih, part reff-nya rada keinget Starry Night, single Saturday Night Karaoke di tahun 2017.

Pertama lihat artwork covernya tapi belum dengerin EP-nya, wah keinget album Insomniac-nya Green Day (1995) nih, karena: font logonya sama, model Typewriter, font mesin tik. Terus tema warna covernya kurang lebih sama: merah, orange, kuning, biru, hitam. Cover rilisan Saturday Night Karaoke ter-serius kali ya ini, yang dilukis sendiri oleh Prabu.

Nah udah nih dengerin: intro Dejection yang panjang, sebelum masuk ke verse, langsung keinget Panic Song-nya Green Day. Polanya setipe. Sama kan tuh, kalo nyetel kasetnya itu lagu pertama side B Insomniac, sama-sama opening. Ini Dejection lagu pertama di EP.

Ini info ga penting, saya masih ingat tanggal pas beli kaset Insomniac, 24 Februari 1996. Hasil duit THR lebaran kala itu, beberapa hari setelah sebelumnya saya beli Hai Klip edisi Green Day-Rancid-The Offspring, aka kitab suci saya kala itu. Tentu saja itu era saya meratapi nasib ga bisa nonton Jakarta Pop Alternative Festival, 14 Januari 1996, dan konser Green Day di Jakarta, 2 Februari 1996. Anak kecil non-ibu kota, ga ada duit.

Balik lagi ke Dejection. Ditulis di bandcamp: This new one is bitter. Maybe it's time to spit it out just to clear our heads now. Ya judul EP-nya aja Dejection, kekesalan. Kurang lebih ya isinya itu. Berisi 4 lagu: Dejection, Padded Room, Compro(de)mise, & Anywhere But Here. Lagu terakhir featuring Angeeta Sentana dari Grrrl Gang. Lirik ada di bandcamp ya.

Sound & lirik ya kurang lebih setipe dengan Insomniac, karena sudah tertanam di otak sedari awal. Dimana Insomniac lebih muram, kasar daripada album Dookie (1994). Sama kan semisal dibandingkan dengan Slurp! atau Professional Goofballs? Eh saya ga bisa milih Dookie atau Insomniac ya, karena sepaket. Sepaket pengubah hidup di tahun 1995-1996. Kalo Dookie itu Nevermind, maka Insomniac itu In Utero-nya Green Day.

Siapa yang setuju kalo Padded Room lebih catchy, daripada Compro(de)mise, & seharusnya lagu ini saja yang dirilis sebagai single pertama dari EP Dejection? Selesai dengerin semua, loh kok bagus banget?!

Oh iya, ditulis di bandcamp, EP ini dirilis pada tanggal 8 Agustus 2022. Langsung klik dengan gambar bola billiar angka 8 di artwork cover Insomniac karya Winston Smith. Apakah ini kebetulan? Apakah benar Dejection EP ini semacam penghormatan untuk album Insomniac-nya Green Day?
