Blue Stars: no don't worry it's definitely a show about creativity and not about getting blasted on absinthe

Bluecoats: we've gone so far into psychedelia we're doing shows inside illuminated manuscripts now

Boston Crusaders: SOON MAY THE WELLERMAN COME-

Cadets: a Wheaties advertisement

Carolina Crown: single guard member steals the entire fucking show by dying flamboyantly

The Cavaliers: The Cavaliers

Colts: welcome to Indiana it's time to cry

Crossmen: literally edgy af

Genesis: assimilate to the entire band into the Borg

Mandarins: naughty soloists get put into the spinning hell toaster forever (fun fact: there are no arm or leg clamps. hold on or perish i guess)

Pacific Crest: sun goddess summons a bunch of sirens and teaches them to play trombone

Phantom Regiment: the aliens have arrived and they have OBELISKS

Troopers: the cowboy oil cult returns and this time they're going to capture the sun with the power of harmonica

Academy: onfield soap opera where the two main characters are celestial bodies

I'm currently watching DCI (hardcore marching band) in the theaters and it does have me remembering being in marching band and performing some, and I know its probably a semi niche group that might understand the specificity of it - but I like to suspect it applies similarly to any large group performance activity

But parts language and "being part of a whole" doesnt invalidate my individuality anymore than choosing to wear a uniform that makes me nearly indescernable from my peers makes me any less of an individual

And in the same vein, parts language can have a very similar empowering and healing effect as performing with nearly indescernable peers and - a specific experience of ours - ripping into a hard feature that can ONLY be done with a large team effort and when done right as a team creates this very proud, very whole experience even when these are people in seperate bodies.

We are parts of a whole and parts of a team and that allows us to regularly experience that group synergy and flow. That moment of perfect coordination and being on the same page that can only be experienced when you are just a part of a greater and larger whole.

Its a sense of pack-hood flock-hood pride-hood. That inherent collective success and inherent belonging and the understanding that despite you being indescernable, what the group has achieved would not have been possible without you - even if you are only 1/100th of the team.

Even as a small part, you are invaluable to the huge result that can come from the greater whole.

--- I can not begin to describe the amount of time, effort, money, and emotions that went into this record. I began writing this record before the pandemic. in the fall of 2019, I started demoing out some of the first tracks. The majority of this record came together during a very intense time. Watching a global pandemic take off, watching my own people drop like flies at the hands of a violent state, watching people who I thought care about me never put any time and effort into me as a person. The world-my world-was a complete mess.

At a time where every single aspect of my life was making me lose my mind. I truly did take time to learn how and where to direct my energy. This record exists as a real time discovery of that, and I hope that those who were in a similar situation like me, constantly being denied your humanity, those who constantly battle the doomer mentality, those who are consistently having their emotions and identity invalidated can find some sort of peace in this thing I created. To learn to be Unbothered.

Like I said, this record was over a 2 year process. From first inception to this very moment, i put so much heart, soul, and a year of my savings into bringing this record to life with the help of so many incredibly talented people. If you could give it a listen and share it around, that would be incredible! It truly is the proudest thing I have ever worked on.

HUGEEE drum corps ocs post because they are literally all I think about 24/7

If your’re curious they all march for Blue Stars DBC. Elsie (the girl with brown/black hair) is the corp’s euphonium soloist, Florence (the guy with brown/white hair) is a rook-out snare alternate, and Jon Valdez (the guy with black hair) is the corp’s bass 2 player. Also all of them are 21 and aging out after this season.

Their story is essentially a silly lighthearted romcom and a huge love letter to drum corps as a whole.

Created a 3D model of a soprano bugle and am almost done with the contra. Both are in G. I don’t think anyones ever made a full 3D model of G bugles before, and, if that’s true, I think it’s pretty cool that I’m the first.
