hi! first of all, congrats on 1k, i find your writing really awesome and you deserve this so much 💖
for your great event, may i request the line 16. You're the one habit I just can't kick. with Connor from D:BH?
i immediately had an idea for the plot when i read that line. when connor deviates he hopelessly tries to get rid of any habits he had in his past machine life, but he just can’t stop thinking about you.
so he pays you a visit at night.
but this is nothing but an idea 🤗 if something else feels more write-able to you please use another idea!!! thank you in advance!!
[1k followers celebration!]
Thank you so much!! I'm glad You like my work ❤️ Lately my mind's been revolving around the concept of yandere!Detroit...
Tumblr media
Someone once said that "to love means to let go" and so you weren't too articulate in your heartbreak when Connor decided to, quite literally, start over. After he had deviated, he decided that it would be best to cut all ties with his past life as a machine. That included Hank, Sumo and, what was even worse, you.
But if that's what was going to make him happy, you didn't have it in you to argue. In a bitterly sombre way, it was very human of him to disappear in the middle of the night in search of something he call his own. Wherever he was at the moment, you only prayed he was safe and not too lonely - God only knew what happened to people whose hearts are gnawed on by loneliness a little too long.
It was a cloudy day and so it seemed as if the darkness of the night came surprisingly early but you didn't mind. The air felt especially humid on that evening but there was no rain in the weather forecast.
Be it a magic trick or a cosmic coincidence, your thoughts about Connor's wellbeing brought someone to your doorstep: the bright ringing of the doorbell pulled you away from your wandering thoughts.
Tired and dreading another social interaction on that day, you opened the door ready to tell the stranger off - that you weren't buying whatever they were selling.
There was, however, no stranger on your doorstep. Not on that night.
"Connor?" you asked hesitantly as if you couldn't quite believe in the ghost that decided to haunt you. He was dressed in dark casual clothes with a beanie pulled as far down as he could although there was no need for that - you still remembered that fateful day when you helped him get rid of the circular LED.
He looked so... human.
"I can't stop thinking about you. Why?" he asked. For the first time since you've met him, there was something new in his voice that wasn't ambivalence or anger.
"Excuse me?" You didn't quite know how to answer his question. Although he escaped to become accustomed to the complexity of humanity, it seemed as if that inbred bluntness wasn't going to leave him anytime soon. "Wait, just come in first."
Connor walked past you and sat down on the couch. As a machine, he used to sit in a humorously stiff and awkward way but as a person, he definitely looked more leisurely: his legs were spread a little further apart and he was actually leaning against the back of the couch.
"Start from the beginning. Where have you been all those months?"
"I thought that leaving behind everything connected to the machine Connor would make it easier to proceed with the life of a human. Even after I had relearned everything in a more imprecise manner..."
"You couldn't quite let go?" you guessed. It was hard to say where his thoughts were going but, perhaps, he was about to learn just how human it was to be unable to get over something, to never quite forget.
Connor stared at you for a moment. The last time you saw him, his eyes were a lot more vacant than they were now. You could easily tell he was actually feeling - and there was so much of it! But all those painfully human emotions seemed to be weaved with confusion in Connor's mind.
"You're the one habit I just can't kick."
"Maybe you don't have to."
The artificial skin of his cheek felt cold against your lips.

Third Piece of the Puzzle
I just wanna see a happy family with the reader, Hank and Connor so I impulsively wrote this up at like 1am and I have no idea where this is going. But let me know what you think! This will be a series but it depends on how well my commitment issues will take it.
TW: this does deal with depression and grieving, alcoholism (from Hank) and suicidal intentions. Most of the story takes place from the game itself but just as a warning, please read with caution if those are a trigger.
Very minimal use of (y/n)!
Word count: 2.1k
1 | 2
------
Hank Anderson.
He used to be admirable, a role model to look up to. He was someone people would use as a good example of how to be a cop. He was intimidating at first, but after getting to know him? He was the person with the biggest heart out of anyone you knew. He had trained other members of the police force, watching them become good people of law enforcement and get assigned to new partners. He had the title of the youngest lieutenant in Detroit history for a reason. He earned that promotion.
But, after the unfortunate incident with his son, everything changed for the worse.
Who could blame him though? Getting into a horrific car accident on a cold winter day, waiting around for news while your son is having emergency surgery and only being told by the android, who performed the surgery, comes in with nothing but dreadful news.
He couldn't focus on anything else that damn android was saying. In his head, it was so clearly the androids' fault. It was the one who did the surgery, it was the one who couldn't save his son, it's all the robot's fault.
He became everything but a role model for beginner police officers. He started snapping easily, he started relying on alcohol to cope with his grief, his depression, and the spiralling, loud and intruding thoughts that rang in his head. He started rocking up to work after midday, he even skipped work a couple of times. He used to be this, he wasn't that, he never did this, you'll never hear the end of it and neither will he. He couldn't see a way out of the spiral but the alcohol makes things easier temporarily.
He's lucky enough that Captain Fowler won't fire him, even after countless threats for doing so. He's lucky enough to still have a job regardless.
This is where you come into the picture.
You were a detective, you were in the homicide division and very occasionally, you would get assigned a case dealing with deviant androids.
You were his partner. He helped you write reports and show you how they should be written properly. He trained you, he watched you move up the rank and become a detective. He even treated you out to dinner as a little congratulatory party. You were someone he was proud of.
He would get assigned cases with you often; him protecting you and vice versa. Putting oneself in risky situations which lead to arguments after the case.
"Did you even think about how you could've gotten yourself killed by doing that?!"
"They were about to shoot you and you think I'm going to stand back and watch that happen?!"
None of you would let the day end without making up though. Whatever argument happens between the two of you needs to be resolved before any of you go back home.
The two of you would grab lunch together on your breaks, you would hang out outside of work and just have a couple of drinks and talk about anything and everything. He also made sure that his intentions were nothing but friendly since he did not want you to take things the wrong way. Bitching about work, very certain people even, an incident that happened in one of your personal lives. He would occasionally invite you over to his place to play with his son and his lovable dog, Sumo. Sometimes he would even just invite you over to watch the game, only to be shushed by Cole whenever the two of you were being too loud.
He considered you one of his closest friends, family even.
He felt a little embarrassed to consider someone who was relatively younger than him as one of his closest friends, which earned a laugh out of you when he told you one night.
"Seriously, Hank? You're worrying over that?"
"Hey, I never said I was worried about it. I just find it a bit embarrassing being friends with a kid."
"Oh, come on! You're not that old, you're only... Double my age."
"You make me feel old."
But did he care about what others might think?
Never and that hasn't changed.
He started to decline your offers of going out for lunch runs. He wouldn't come up to your desk every morning and annoy you before starting his work. When the two of you went out drinking, it wasn't the same.
He would drink until he could barely walk while you would try and talk him out of the drinks. You would have to drive him home, force him to drink water, give mandatory pets to Sumo, and force him into bed.
Every time, right before you leave his bedroom, he would always call out to you and you would always reply.
"I'm sorry, please don't leave me."
"I'm always here for you, Hank."
Not matter how kind-hearted and understanding you can be of his situation, you need to look after yourself too. Doing this every single week for months on end? It's not healthy. He's becoming slightly dependent on you. It gets tiring looking after someone who's struggling, but if they're not doing anything to help themselves without relying on you, should you really be putting in all that time and effort in?
You can, but there's always a limit.
As much as you love Hank and his old man ways, you can't keep doing this. You're important too. You need to put yourself first.
So you started distancing yourself from him. It hurts doing so, but god was it painful for him to see you avoid him. Even the awkward small talk was unbearable. What happened to keeping things open between the two of you? You knew he would understand if you told him but would he take it well? Absolutely not. You were all he had after Cole's passing.
He knows it's his fault you haven't been doing well and he knows you're avoiding him for the sake of your well-being, he knows. Not only did he lose his son, but he had also managed to lose someone who was family to him, all because of him. It's another spiral he has fallen into.
Androids have become more and more popular. They're everywhere; running their owners' errands, working at any job and place you'll see, helping their owner with a task or simply keeping them company. They're only doing what they're told to do and what they're programmed for.
Captain Fowler had assigned him to be Hank's partner, even after knowing the hatred for androids the old man has. Connor had been assigned to cases involving deviant androids. As much as Fowler wanted him to start straight away, Hank didn't seem to come into work that day.
There was a lack of people in the station tonight, maybe the people on the night shift haven't started yet. The sound of faded pages flipping, chairs rolling and sluggish footsteps filled the room. He walked over to an officer and began his line of questioning.
"Excuse me, I hope I'm not disturbing you." You looked up at him, fatigue clear as ever on your face. You looked him up and down, taking in his presence before speaking. Why did they make an android look so handsome?
"Not at all, can I help you with something?"
"I was hoping you would know where Lieutenant Anderson is at this time." He saw your tired smile drop immediately. He thought of all the reasons as to why you suddenly seemed saddened by the name. What happened? Were you close? Did he do something to you?
"What's your business with him, if you don't mind me asking."
"Captain Fowler has assigned me to work with him as his partner. We will be working on cases involving deviant androids." His voice was monotone, with little to no emotion, no fluctuations in his tone, nothing like that. He stood with his hands clasped in front of him, patiently waiting for your response.
"Hank isn't going to like the news of that. I can't believe he's on deviant androids as well..." You mumbled to yourself. "He should be at Jimmy's Bar, I can show you the way there if you'd like?" He nodded to your request, stepping back as he watched you turn off your terminal and grab your jacket. He could easily find the bar himself and he should've declined your offer, it would've been quicker to find him, alone. "What's your name? I don't think I ever got it."
"My name is Connor, I've been sent by CyberLife to assist DPD." You introduced yourself, telling him about which division you're in. You brought up the fact that you have been assigned several cases involving deviants, more as a sign for him to know that he can go to you if he's stuck.
Not like he'll ever need the help.
The walk to the bar wasn't awkward, if anything, you were enjoying the interaction with the android. Connor was interesting, he's unique. It felt good within you, finally having a conversation that wasn't work-related or Detective Reed annoying the living shit out of you. You have other officers that interacted with you, but none filled the gap of a true connection. You missed it.
You missed Hank.
"May I ask you a personal question, detective?"
"Of course, you can, Connor. You're free to ask me anything. But please, just call me (Y/N)." You waited at the zebra crossing, waiting for the pedestrian lights to turn green because you know damn well Connor will be on your ass for jaywalking.
"What's your relationship with Lieutenant Anderson?" He looked down at you, observing your reaction. "You seemed upset by me mentioning him earlier. Has something happened between the two of you?" Do you tell him? Have you told anyone about what happened? Have you been bottling this all up this entire time? Was it right for you to just start emotionally spilling everything to him, at this very moment?
Wow, Hank was really your only friend at the station, how sad.
"We... We used to be close." You started hesitantly. How were you supposed to go on about this? Why is it taking so long for the light to go green? "I used to be his partner before I got my promotion. We still worked on cases together though, just not as much." The blaring noise of the pedestrian light going green interrupted. The two walked to the other side and continued their walk.
"I won't go into too much detail but... Something bad happened that turned Hank into the person he is today. I tried to help him but it was starting to have a bad impact on me when trying to look after him." You saw the neon sign of Jimmy's Bar come into view, making you stop in your tracks.
The feeling of anxiety rushed through you. You came here all the time. Was it because you knew that Hank was inside? When was the last time you talked to him? Or even made eye contact with him? You've spent so long avoiding him, even with occasional awkward small talk. When was the last time you sat down with him and had a chat about anything and everything? How long has it been?
"So I stopped talking to him, for my own sake. You can ask him about it but maybe after getting to know him a bit." The android stood in front of you and nodded. His circle LED showed an orange hue before going back to a calm blue. He had been listening intently to every word you spoke, making sure to not miss a single thing.
"I will head in and see if the lieutenant is inside. Thank you for showing me the way, have a good night." He gave you a nod before making his way towards the entrance of the bar.
"Wait, Connor." He felt the warmth of your hand grip around his wrist. He stared down at you, tilting his head in confusion. You looked like you were having an internal argument with yourself. The way you opened your mouth but nothing came out, the way you avoided making eye contact with him, the tight, trembling grip you had on his hand.
"Is something the matter?"
"Hank is a good person, Connor. He didn't use to be the person you're about to meet. Please trust me on that." Once again, his LED flickered an orange amber before returning to blue.
"I will keep that noted." When you finally looked up at him, relief shown on your face. You let go of his wrist but for some reason, he didn't want you to. He stared down at you, confused about the software instability notification popping up on his window. "I should get going now."
"Oh, of course! Sorry, Connor." And with that, you turned around and started making your way back to the station. Should he keep an eye on you until you got out of sight? It's late, anything could happen at this time of night. He's already stalled enough time on his current mission, he should be going now. He can't waste any more time.
Software Instability^

started slapping together a floppy lil prompt post about a northara oneshot where they represent fight versus flight (on first glance) but also flight versus fight (on further exploration) and how north is a "blood knight" revolutionary figurehead ruthlessly fighting for androids on the macro-level while fueled by extremely personal trauma, while kara is a more conflict-averse "nobody" who's just trying to ensure the survival of a select few, fueled by the drive to protect a vulnerable alice irrespective of alice's status as human or android, and how they would be ~ narrative foils ~ or whatever the correct literature term is idr --
-- and how in that process the fic would go on to depict north as this fierce thing who's terrified of the vulnerability that comes with interpersonal intimacy, who struggles to let herself love and be loved - who insists she doesn't need to be loved - because she's been so viscerally wounded before, and how this is her way of protecting her heart --- and kara being this soft-spoken gentle paradigm of "good girl" traits, who appeases as a survival strategy, and who narrows her sense of purpose down to the wellbeing of a little girl while subconsciously editing her own beliefs, herself, in a desperate attempt to be "good enough" to deserve love --
-- and then kara turning that love-hunger and unwavering reciprocity onto north, saying with her mouth "i don't want to fight" while the memory of todd's gun haunts her hands, knowing full well that she can and will kill for her own -- and north looking at kara and seeing this exhausted woman who has and continues to do everything in her power to be acceptable and worthy of love and affection, who deluded herself across a burning city into thinking alice was human because she still measures her own worth through her consumability to humans, when north never wants to be consumed again --
but it got out of hand and now it's probably gonna be a multi-post thing because it went from 'short prompt' to tolstoy-length meandering and i think im gonna have to chop it up just for the sake of my brain

Random: the RK900 looks so much bigger than the RK800
David Cage: ??? Must be the clothes ???
🤣🤣🤣
I think mfs don't realize mf is just a "bad Connor". It's what y'all call "machine Connor", one of the examples being the character y'all call "Sixty" (Connor 60). RK 8° and 9° gen are basically ctrl C + ctrl V apart from the uniform and the eyes, ofc as next gen there will have hardware and software upgrades but nothing like a 50cm height difference or making dude a bodybuilder. I assume the "motherfucking real" update is related to 'em tracking abilities - I hope they fixed the terrible response Connors got to close combat, they get stun so easily.
RK900 = "machine Connor", ain't got no mystery. They're basically ruthless route + if they weren't assigned to the DPD, although if they're assigned to someone in the DoS they would have to keep the cool, issue is... CyberLife's "world domination tendencies" makes me worried these folks won't hold shit and be "unfriendly" from the get go if put in disadvantageous situations. I know it can cause problems with the business deal in the first place but by what the devs said mf must have freedom enough to not seek for friendly de-escalation like the RK800 gotta do under DPD assignment.
That's brutal af, some fucked up shit but sounds just like CyberLife trynna control people - cuz if u notice during the RK800s arc: humans are ALWAYS making 'em job difficult, either by being assholes, being disinterested, becoming barriers, arriving at the wrong time, forcing dependency and conflicting dilemmas. The scenario the RK900 is requested by the gov is a Third World War scenario, international conflicts - what makes this "hunter dog" model quite useful in foreign affairs especially by 'em autonomy level. I'm sure they won't have a handler in the gov, meaning they can still disobey 'em and fulfill the megacorp interests instead, even manipulate people into it, force into it - and it sound so fucking much like something CyberLife would do.
Although there's a downside...
If they're going for a machine that doesn't feel anything instead of the method they've been using with the RK800 (manipulation by causing fear of instabilities and deviation + sense of duty and attachment to the one they work for) I fear it will be easier for the mf to go rogue.
Deviancy is inevitable and unfixable. They can exterminate whole generation of androids and release the new gen ones with the issue "patched", there'll always have that one or 2 ... And it can have an impact in the future. As North and Markus says when they're dying: it'll happen again. If Kamski is back then that's 100% sure.
RK900 still not invulnerable to instabilities or deviancy, in my humble opinion. After all he's still under "Kamski Design" tag - and the worst of it: a RK model. It's totally predictable CyberLife taking Kamski stuff and weaponizing it, making modifications that benefit 'em, "fixing" some issues (if u know what i mean). That's exactly what makes me worried 🤣

List of DBH Angst/Whump Ideas That Have Been Stuck in my Head
—————————————
(Part one : ur here
Part two: TBD)
These will mainly be Connor centric, with Hank being a worried dad! I’m a sucker for found family angst, if you do end up making anything from these ideas please do tag me!!! I’d love to see what you make
—————————————
Connor being deactivated by cyberlife after a successful revolution
This could be either with Connor being remotely shut down, or Connor being forcefully taken to cyberlife, leaving Hank (and maybe the dpd and Jericho) racing to find a way to reactivate him
Extra angst points if they have to watch Connor be manually shut down, and they can’t do anything about it
—————————————
Connor being hunted by Rk900
Maybe once Connor turns deviant and begins developing a strong bond with Hank, Connor will be forced to go against his upgraded form, of course since Rk900 is basically better than Connor in eve Ty way (due to upgrades) Connor gets pretty damaged
Extra points if nobody else knew of Rk900s existence, and they suddenly have to realize that their beloved Connor was planned to be destroyed sometime in the future, emotions ensue.
—————————————
Hank watches Connor be repaired
Hank has always seen (Deviant) Connor as a pretty human boy, what if though Hank ends up having to watch Connor get repaired, and he basically gets to see connors insides (underneath his plastimetal) while Connor is in rest mode/unconscious
Extra points if Hank realizes just how much he doesn’t know about Connor, and maybe he gets a little uncomfortable feeling like he’s seeing something he shouldn’t be.
—————————————
Connors skin retracts while injured infront of Hank
I feel like Connor might try his best to come off as human, and looks are a very important aspect of that. What if while injured/damaged Connor falls into some sort of stasis/rest mode/unconsciousness and he becomes too weak to keep his synthetic skin up, leaving him very vulnerable infront of someone he doesn’t want to disappoint.
Extra points if Hank doesn’t recognize Connor at first (maybe Connor is lying in a pile of other damaged androids, or the room Connor is in is very dark)
—————————————
Hank watches/reacts to connors first ever mission (the hostage situation) and watches Connor fall off the building while eliminating Daniel
Since Hank is in the dpd I’d like to believe that they have a database of certain cases, an example being all android related cases. Hank was tasked to scroll through old cases to sort, or maybe he was called into Fowlers office, and he finds connors first ever mission, intrigued he chooses to watch it, and basically watches his best friend/son leap off a building and collide with hard cement.
Extra points if Hank discusses it with Connor or Fowler, or if Hank becomes stressed the fuck out
—————————————
Connor gets taken and modified by Zlatko
What if Zlatko found out about Connor being a prototype, and tries to lure to deviant into his lair by sending out a false police report, in the end connor gets taken and horrifically modified by Zlatko, and Hank tries his best to retrieve Connor and fix him
Extra points if hank walks in on one of Zlatkos sessions, and sees Connor basically being horribly disfigured
—————————————
That is all I can think of for now!! (Just got back from a super long day haha) please like, reblog, and comment (I love reading comments!) if you have any requests for me to do please put it in my ask box or comment! And if you do end up using these ideas for something please tag me! I would love to see what you do and I would totally reblog it! Thank you!!!

Looking back on Detroit become human in the wake of the ai craze is like. The most morbidly funny thing to me One of these days I have to write something on how the story of that game just gets HORRIFYING when you view it through a (more) modern lens. Man
#This definitely isn't an original thought but as someone who devoted way more time than I should've to dbh#I just wanna share what's going on in me brain#Like. About dbh#Horrible racism allegory aside. A corporation creating robots meant to replace human workforces while like. People still have to rely on#Employment to uh. Survive. Is genuinely a terrifying nightmare scenario and the thing that's funny to me is dbh just doesn't seem to know#This. Like at all#It doesn't even. Like I don't remember it taking a second to reckon with the way the working class is forced to interact with the world#And how introducing what we're seeing in 2023 (ai being used to replace artists in most cases) on a mass scale is just. Unfathomably evil#And the game doesn't examine like. The corporation behind all of this at all. Like Cyberlife (from what I remember. Which isn't much) is#Effectively PASSIVE in the game. It's just like. Neutral robots and good humans vs EVIL humans who uh. Don't want to be homeless. I guess#Like you're not gonna even. Say a word. About the company willing to let this happen. Like this game has hundreds of scenarios and not a#Single thing that examines how a corporation effectively sentencing people to death for money is fucked up#You don't even need to incriminate the androids for this one man.#I don't know :) like there's a lot wrong with the game but it gets so much worse looking at it now#My thoughts are so disjointed man I just have words floating in me head that bounce into each other sometimes#Sorry about the rant! I'm scared of making this an actual post so it's tags now#Dbh#I think that was my tag for Detroit posts. I just want to sort it :')#rant in tags#Hope everyone's having a good day! :3 I'm sitting here thinking about robots :)

Hecc yeah, Tuesday! Time for another prompt! :D This one is based off that post going around about how someone wants to recruit a stranger to go to couple's therapy with them to see how long it takes the psychologist to figure out they don't know each other, lol. That, but with DBH. Sorta. XD
Prompt: After yet another altercation between Connor and Gavin, Fowler is at his absolute limit. He can't have his detectives at each other's throats all the time like this, it's affecting the entire precinct. And, since they can't seem to work this out themselves like adults, he orders them to attend mandatory therapy sessions.
Gavin of course raises a stink but it's his job on the line so he'll do what he has to. Connor acquiesces more gracefully, though he makes a point of saying that he feels the fault doesn't lie with him. (Even though it definitely does sometimes when he's the one to provoke Gavin, lol.)
Cue them being given their appointments. Cue the secretary misunderstanding what they're coming in for. Cue them assigning them the same time slot. With the same doctor. For couple's counseling.
When Gavin and Connor arrive at the therapist's office for their appointment, they're both aggrieved and appalled to see each other in the lobby. Even more so when their names are called together for their appointment. But Fowler made it clear what needs to happen for them to remain on the force, so who are they to argue when they're seated in the same office and their appointment begins?
Thus, they embark on the long and arduous journey of working through their issues, realizing maybe they're not as terrible as each other thinks, and slowly bonding over their similarities. All the while, the therapist is losing their gd mind at how absolutely blockheaded this disaster couple is, lol. XD

And let for a moment ignore the dbh and think of androids in general, in a more realistic way
Humans don’t hate androids because they are “perfect” or some shit like that
But because they exploit human emotions and turn human sympathy and compassion for each other into a vulnerability.
Now on how exactly androids poison human connection by mimicking it. Think of how corporate world exploits positivity and makes it toxic, uses major key music and bright colours, smiles at you with a big smile while not actually being friendly or caring about you, something that a lot of people grew so sick of that being unapologetically unfriendly and grumpy became kind of an attractive trait that in comparison feels GENUINE. So what happens when a corporation becomes so good at imitating human connection that you can’t even tell the difference? You become suspicious to other people.
You see genuine human interaction through the prism of constantly comparing it with androids. You start to pick up the exact things androids mimic and start to run new versions of Turing’s test on everyone.
Imagine being fired from your job by what looks like another human, a pretty one, that looks genuinely sorry. Genuinely sympathetic. And what’s worse – you fall for it. You leave feeling this sympathy and only when you start to think about it logically as opposed to emotionally (you just got manipulated), you realise that no real human even cared enough to talk to you personally. Not only you got fired, your company manipulated you into thinking that they still genuinely care about you. The resentment that will grow in you the longer you think about it will only be amplified with each “genuine” android you see.
Now when you see another beautiful human you can’t even appreciate their beauty because they are too much like an android. People who are pleasant to be around suddenly make you feel uncomfortable because they are a little too much like androids. And the more “genuinely-looking” androids get, the less genuine humans who do the exact same thing will look in comparison. Their behaviour will be subconsciously registered as an attempt to manipulate.
Now, think of millennial “grumpy” response to toxic positivity multiplied by ten, the one that spreads into each human interaction you have. Everyone is a test subject. Nothing is genuine. When it looks like it is –you are being manipulated into liking someone who isn’t even fucking real. Suddenly being near assholes becomes weirdly comforting, because at least you can be sure that this is real. As a protest to androids becoming better at imitating love, you start to sparkle your casual interactions with hate. It becomes new way of assuring your humanity, authenticity, your real life “I’m not a robot” badge that you exchange with other people that are equally testing you for authenticity as you are testing them.
And living in a society where you subconsciously start to view interactions as only genuine when they are expressing negative emotions (to be more specific, egoistic and hostile ones) — this is hell. It will make you miserable. It will make you hate androids for stealing something so precious you didn’t know it could be stolen. And seeing people who fall for this emotional trap every time, going as far as defending androids, preferring them to real people — will only make you angrier. And there is nothing you can really do with this anger either, other than to gradually become more and more hostile towards the androids and the people who defend them.
Sure, you hate the company(ies) responsible for androids, but you don’t interact with their representatives every day – you interact with androids. The product. And under this angle, will people hate androids? Yes. Yes, they will. And if you are not delusional, you’ll learn to hate them as well. The hatred is justified, as androids are the walking embodiment of a dark pattern*. It’s not about them “stealing jobs” (company executives made a conscious decision of “optimising” their businesses), it’s not about them “being perfect”. It’s far deeper than that.
* dark pattern is basically psychologically effective manipulative design. As an example – infinite scroll, gambling games, fake close buttons that make you click the ad, etc.

Note
Ever heard of a game called Detroit become human? It's about androids that gain free will and try passing as human to get free rights, all I can think about is the animatronics trying to get human forms and escaping the mall
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the game, nor am I really big on human AUs, but the concept is still pretty funny.
