mr incredible as a character is so interesting because unlike other main “good guys” his main drive is that he loves being a super hero. he’s fired from multiple jobs, uprooting his family every time, because of he can’t not be that guy. he listens to police scanners and coaches people through abusing the insurance company because he’s so desperate to get even a slice of that feeling. of course he likes helping people, sure, but he’s so desperate to be heroic he lets himself get reduced down to being muscle for hire to a crazy shady company just so that he can be mr incredible again. Like, how did we get here? what is his origin story? what made him like this? who taught him that his worth is synonymous with his heroism? with what his body can do? how did we get here.

"i thought you promised me you'd stop."
you don't mean to sound as angry as you do, nor as accusatory. it's merely a statement. aizawa isn't phased by the harsh sentence, though. he knows you.
he looks up from his laptop, stopping his hands from massaging the part between scalp and neck. he looks like a deer caught in the headlights - or more accurately to him, a cat caught at a crossroad. you can't figure out if he'll try to sneak away before explaining himself. both of you know that you're not going to let him.
you sigh and slump further against the doorframe, lifting a hand to your face. what are you going to do with him? he rolls away from the desk to face you properly, "i was... but it changed..."
you know what he means. it always changes. he promised he'd quit after raising a new generation of heroes; that he just wanted to follow his class to the door as an active pro hero. that he'd become a full-time teacher and retire from being a pro hero when his last class graduated - which they did, two years ago.
and yet, aizawa's filing a report after his afternoon patrol. he'd barely been able to eat dinner, his body not able to stomach much with all the stress and medication it's being put under.
for someone who hates medication, he sure is willing to take a lot in order to overcompensate at an already oversaturated jobmarket.
the stout and strong man you fell in love with has dwindled. he argues that he hasn't diminished nearly as much as all might, and you remind him that it's not a competition. that dealing with chronic pain and then losing a leg and an eye is cause for concern for anyone; his plate is full.
but then, a prodigy came around. one you love and has taken in as your own as well, supporting them both. and although aizawa's argument is always that he does it for the kid, said kid has begged him to retire since his second year in high school.
you sigh and let your arms fall and walk over to him, defeated. you stand in front of his desk chair, in front of him, and look into his eye before you start to run your hands through his hair. you're silent together for a moment.
"i'd like to grow old together."
he hums and leans into your touch, arms reaching out towards you, holding onto the sides of your thighs.
"me too."
a chuckle turns into a sigh for you before you give him a stern look. you understand him; this is his dream after all. this is everything he worked towards. the challenges he faces on a day to day basis are tough; but so is he.
you hold onto his face with your hands, your thumbs dragging over his cheeks, "can you take fewer shifts at least?"
he considers for a moment before his arms travel up to join yours, "i'll try."
try.
that is all you can ask of him, really. and you won't try for more; after all, this is also a part of him you fell in love with. this is also a part you chose to live with when you accepted the ring on your finger. he pulls gently at your hand to kiss said ring while maintaining eye contact and you huff out a breath before you smile.
"i'll hound you about this in another six month's time." you warn and he laughs, low and scratchy, before he nods, "and i'll be there to listen."

There needs to be more content about Jazz - specifically about how she handles her brother's death.
I want to see more of Jazz's grief. The fact that she wakes up every morning and faces her little brother whom she raised when her parents didn't. The fact that she watches him eat and drink and put on his shoes and walk out the house every morning, while Jazz takes a single moment to sit at the now empty dinner table and process the fact that her brother died while the clock hanging on the wall ticks behind her and reminds her she can't be late.
I want more of Jazz knowing that grief is a part of life and mourning can be a healthy way to deal with loss, while struggling to come to terms with the fact that her brother died in the basement of the house that she currently sleeps in every night - all while her parents miss breakfast yet again in favour of tinker away in their lab.
I want to see Jazz fumbling her way through keeping up appearances while struggling to find some form of peace in between all the responsibilities she's juggling.
Sometimes it's when the glass in front of her mists up completely while she's in the shower and the water's so hot she can't see her reflection in the mirror and the steam stifles her breathing.
When she's alone in the freezer aisle staring at the packaging of Danny's favourite ice cream with only the sound of the refrigeration humming in her ears.
When she brushes her hair in the mirror and catches sight of the split ends that need to be trimmed.
When she's wading through the piles of dirty laundry in Danny's bedroom and sorting out which ones are most in need of a wash, only to look up and catch sight of the faded glow in the dark stars still stuck to his ceiling.
When she lays out her notes on the kitchen table while waiting for Dash to arrive for his tutoring lessons. The sound of footsteps walking up the driveway doesn't stop her from staring at the cracked tile above the sink, but the shrill sound of their doorbell has her stumbling from her seat, tripping over her feet while the glass of water in her hand goes rolling across the countertop.
I want Jazz to seek sanctuary in the fleeting moments of silence in her everyday life. She's still a teenager with no one to talk to. For all that she pesters Danny on speaking his mind and not keeping his worries to himself, she's an absolute hypocrite. But there isn't anything she can do about it. She's always been pitied as the most "normal" Fenton, and as long as she keeps it together and keeps herself moving then no one will notice how her parents never seem to leave the house anymore, or how she's the only one making dinner every night. No one will see the bags under her eyes, hidden beneath all the concealer and powder. People will look at her and see that they're doing okay - regardless of how many late assignments her brother hands in and the number of detention slips he's managed to accumulate.
I want to see her counting down the days till her 18th birthday while she chokes on the fact that her parents had a hand in killing her brother - that they still haven't noticed what's right in front of them, even though they should’ve. Love isn't enough to raise a child and it's something that Jazz has always been acutely aware of - something she's never had the courage to face - but now she feels goosebumps every time she hugs her dad and she's turning blue every time she meets her mother's eyes.
I want to see Jazz desperately trying to stop herself from falling apart at the seams. She's smart and far too self aware and struggling to keep her head above water. I want to see her dealing with her grief in the only way that she can with all the limited time and resources she has - all while swallowing down the guilt that she's fine and that she's okay and that she isn't even the one that died so how can she be the one feeling like she can't get enough air into her lungs when most days her brother doesn't even have a heartbeat.

I am fully out of the loop on the ableism discourse surrounding Ed, could you explain it to me like I'm 5? cos I dont understand your posts unfortunately at all :c
Well there are two strands I've seen floating around rn:
1: that Ed doesn't need the knee brace because it doesn't show up in the couple of full-body shots in the promotional material (ableist because it employs the myth that if you aren't using a mobility aid or piece of assistive tech at all times you don't need it at all or perhaps aren't even disabled; even if the knee brace IS just a costume detail referencing mad max that they haven't brought back for s2, this type of rhetoric harms actual disabled people like myself who need braces/mobility aids but not 24/7/365)
2: people are saying that reading the toe scene as it is narratively presented is ableist because disability isn't a punishment. this places the blame on individuals reading the scene's symbolism as it's presented (the toe scene is a narrative prosthesis symbolizing how Ed has been forced back into being Blackbeard, which he wants to leave behind -- he notes earlier that cutting off toes is explicitly part of the life he doesn't want to live anymore, and when Izzy threatens him back into it, the toe removal symbolizes this narrative shift).
the discourse around this moment conveniently ignores 1) the tone of the show surrounding maiming and violence (Lucius's finger doesn't get this treatment, for instance, nor does his being shoved overboard) and 2) the dynamics of the scene itself (Izzy threatens Ed into putting on the Blackbeard persona again, the Blackbeard persona requires responding to threats to authority with violence, Izzy's threats are thus met with violence which Izzy himself notes as part of the Blackbeard persona: "there he is," "Blackbeard is himself again" etc).
obviously disability as punishment is a problematic narrative device, but given the pirate context, the way the show frames violent masculinities, and the tone of both the scene and the show itself (at least pre-s2), it seems a very bad-faith reading to use this one moment of violence, take it out of its larger narrative context, and read it through an extremely ungenerous lens to villainize people who accurately read the narrative setup of the scene as "fuck around and find out." it also doesn't escape me that this antagonism is aimed at a specific portion of the audience and NOT at the writers who wrote this narrative prosthesis into the show (and it is also weaponized to demonize and dehumanize an indigenous man, so. do with that what you will)

i'm sure you know this already but:
COTL ISN’T DELETING THEIR GAME.
1) in terms profit they'd pretty much shoot themselves in the foot with that decision, and as protest it's not very effective to make unity listen.
2) if they were, there would've been a much bigger announcement than a twitter tweet.
3) they confirmed they're not in both the discord and the twitter. after the deletion tweet went viral. which...ok.
4) it's probably a scare tactic to take advantage of the unity news to get more people to buy their game.
5) it probably worked.
so many people are focused on the unity issue that i don't think it's often talked about how much of a shitty pr stunt that was by the social media manager. people are fearmongering, sure, but the initial seeds were planted by that twitter post that really should've gone through some extra foresight.
hope they enjoy their extra revenue.
