Calling Chloe out
As Chloe insulted Ladybug for losing the miraculous, Chat has finally had enough.
“That’s enough. Need I remind you of your own faults? You actually willingly teamed up with Hawkmoth to become Miracle Queen, because you couldn’t accept that revealing a hero’s secret identity means you don’t become a hero anymore!”
Chloe growled. “You have no proof. It’s your word against mine. And my daddy is the mayor.”
Chat: I know. It’s a miracle Ladybug even let you become Queen Bee after you deliberately risked the lives of a train full of people just so you could look good in front of your mother!
Manipula: wow Ladybug, you actually trusted Chloe with a miraculous after that?
Ladybug: my candidates had been under Maledikator’s control. I had limited options to work with.
Chloe: excuse me! I wasn’t even your first choice to be queen bee?
Ladybug: considering how you love to bully and demean everyone around you, no.
Mayor: see here Ladybug, I can’t have you speaking to my daughter like that
Chat: why do you allow her to speak to you like this? Are you honestly happy with Chloe taking advantage of your position and being a bully? are you actually happy being married to Audrey? Does she even love you?
Mayor: I…
Andre paused and leaned back, self-reflecting on his current misery. Even with all the power in the world, he was scared to disappoint Audrey and Chloe. He felt more like a guard dog than a member of the family. He turned back to Manipula. “Monique, I’m sorry I caved in to my daughter. You can have your museum back. Thank you Chat Noir, for opening my eyes.”
Manipula: thank you mayor. Um, I still need their miraculous thought.
Chloe: this is utterly ridiculous!
Ladybug: no Monique, you don’t. Monarch is taking advantage of your despair. If he really cared about the people of Paris, he wouldn’t be creating akumas to terrorise us. Paris is the city of love, not hate and fear.
Monarch: don’t listen to them Manipula. Remember, I only need their miraculous to stop my attacks.
Manipula: but then the villain will win. Ladybug is right. You’re the real villain. Argh!
Manipula rejected the akuma.
As Monique eagerly prepared for the grand unveiling of the new statues, Andre settled his home affairs. He no longer cared if Audrey left with Chloe. He could actually be happier that way. Audrey certainly didn’t want to be a rejected party and quickly changed sides, praising her husband for taking charge at last. She also dismissed Chloe. This angered the brat and she would have been akumatized until Zoe wisely pointed out that for all her akumatizations, she always loses and would be humiliated.

Les déterminants
Les articles
#1. Indefinite articles (unknown noun)
Un (masculine sg) > j'ai une chienne - I have a dog
Une (feminine sg) > j'ai un chat - I have a cat
Des (plural) > il y a des oiseaux dehors - there are birds outside*
#2. Definite articles (known noun)
Le + consonant, L' + vowel (masc sg) > le dîner est servi - dinner is served
La + consonant, L' + vowel (fem sg) > la table est prête - the table is reay
Les (plural) > les invitées sont là - the (female) guests are here
#3. Partitive articles (portion of the noun, not all of it)
Du > je vais prendre du café - I'm going to get coffee
De la > je voudrais de la salade - I would like some salad
Des > le matin je mange des céréales - In the morning I eat cereals
*Des becomes De 1/ when there is an adjective before the noun > tu as de beaux yeux - you have got nice eyes or 2/ in negative sentences > je n’ai pas de chaussettes - I don’t have socks.
N.B. When attached to prepositions à or de, le and les become contracted articles: au (à + le), aux (à + les), du (de + le), des (de + les): au clair de la lune - in the moonlight, j’ai des allergies - I have allergies.
*
Les déterminants possessifs
#1. For a single owner
Mon, ton, son (masculine singular) - my, your, his > mon chat est blanc
Ma, ta, sa (feminine singular) - my, your, her* > sa chienne est noire
Mes, tes, ses (plural) - my, your, their > son lapin est gris
*When a feminine noun following a possessive determiner starts with a vowel, we use the masculine version > c'est mon amie - she's my friend.
#2. For several owners
Notre, votre, leur (singular) - our, your, their > notre chien est vieux
Nos, vos, leurs (plural) - our, your, their > leurs chats sont jeunes
N.B. French focuses on the gender of the property > c’est son chien - it's his/her male dog (there is no information given about the owner).
*
Les déterminants démonstratifs
Demonstrative determiners (from verb montrer - to show, point at) are used to point out the thing or person that is being talked about. They all start with the letter C (mnemonic: here's what I want you to "see").
Ce + consonant, c' + vowel (masc singular) - this > cet arbre est grand
Cette (fem singular) - this > cette maison est immense
Ces (plural) - these > ces fenêtres sont en bois
Les déterminants exclamatifs et interrogatifs
Quel (masculine singular) > quel est ce bruit ? - what is that noise?
Quelle (feminine singular) > quelle belle maison ! - what a beautiful house!
Quels (masculine plural) > quels drôles d'oiseaux ! - what peculiar people!
Quelles (feminine plural) > tu vas acheter quelles chaussures ? - which shoes are you getting?
NB. In front of a stative verb (être, rester, sembler...), those determiners become modifiers and therefore agree with the noun they are referring to > quelle était sa surprise quand je suis arrivée ! - what great was her surprise when I arrived!
Les déterminants indéfinis
Indefinite determiners are used when the object is vague or unknown, can come with another determiner (les quelques - the few) or be locutions formed by a quantity adverb and the preposition de. Some are invariable. They can express:
A non existent quantity: aucun-e - no(ne), pas de - no > Tu n'as fait aucun effort !
A quantity of one: chaque* - each, n'importe quel-le - any
A quantity slightly over two: un peu de - a little of, quelques - a few, plusieurs - several, certain-es - some, d'autres - some others (works with certains)
A large quantity: beaucoup de - a lot of, trop de - too much of, la plupart de - most of suffisamment de - enough of, tant de - so much, différent-es - many, divers-es - various, énormément de - a great amount of
Everything: tout, toute, tous, toutes > Tu as mangé tous les chocolats !
*Chaque is not very common except in à chaque fois (every time), one would typically use tous with a plural (tous les jours, not chaque jour).
N.B. It's always beaucoup de. Beaucoup des is sinful and punishable by death.
*
Les déterminants cardinaux numéraux
Cardinal determiners express a quantity and take the place of an article. They are invariable (can't agree in gender or number) except for one (un, une) + twenty and hundred that get an -s when there's no other number after (vingt, cent: cent-trois but deux cents) + thousand, million, billion that can be pluralised (millier, million, milliard)
*
L'article zéro (physically absent but theoretically present)
#1. Proper nouns
Je vis à Paris (works for cities and islands),
C’est Noël (holidays),
Je l'ai vu sur Facebook (brands),
Tu as rencontré Isabelle (first and last names)
#2. Regular nouns
Des livres pour enfants, des croquettes pour chats (categories),
Pierre qui roule n’amasse pas mousse (proverbs),
Hommes, femmes, enfants (enumeration),
Avoir faim, sans crainte, homme de loi (locutions),
Elle part vendredi (about something happening a particular day),
Appartement à vendre, sel de mer (signs, labels),
Céline Dion, reine du metgala (apposition)
Movie: La Jetée - Chris Marker, 1962 (inspo for Terry Gilliam's Twelve monkeys)
Other posts: is it les or des?

A Review of Détermination
The episode romance-centred, obviously. And Luka and Kagami are finally re-appearing, as allies. It’s funny how Marinette is looking up at Chat Noir being all suave and cool while Adrien is peering down at Marinette making a fool of herself. Visual storytelling.
Marinette rides the moped to school. To send Kagami to fencing class at least. And her hair is down.
Whoa.
"You’re going to ask Marinette out." "Why?" "You obviously have feelings for her." Kagami’s bluntness is so refreshing. Save the plot a lot of time.
Kitty Section is making an interesting decision trusting Bob Roth again
Luka is so supportive.
So Adrien knows his feelings has changed, but he isn’t immediately jumping onto the 'I’m in love' boat. It’s quite considerate and wise to want to figure things out instead of immediately pushing the romantic angle. Because on the off-chance that Adrien isn’t romantically infatuated, he could’ve strung Marinette along and ended up badly hurting her.
Kagami has an Alliance watch.
"Remember when you mistook me for a statue, Marinette?" What an embarrassing memory to bring up.
Did Kagami and Luka strike up a friendship behind-the-scenes? Because the smooth way they walked off together and started a conversation without small talk speaks of a very easy relationship.
Luka makes an astute observation. As someone who’s always used to being adored and adoring in return, Adrien can’t decipher the truth of his feelings. Are they truly out-of-the-ordinary, or just enhanced for one particular person?
Chloé wants Mayor Bourgeois to take down the heroes and villain exhibit hall because she’s offended by the implications.
Pulling an Alya and Nino in New York. Just lock them in, why don't you?
Superhero-themed villains has been quite popular this season. That and ordinary citizens wanting to be heroes, like Socqueline dressing up as ladybug and Nino erecting a resistance. I’m starting to spy a motif.
I just realised Manipula is the first original Akumatised victim in this season, and she looks really good as well. That appearance could pass a camp on a gala red carpet.
Very Sailor Moon-esque, this scenario.
When did Alix get a statue??
The whole gang’s here.
Those are still wax statue, they don’t have the power of the Miraculous, do they?
The humour of Chloé sitting in André’s seat while he’s consulting her like she’s the mayor. Chloé is in unbreakable charge of everything in his life.
So the wax statues can use Miraculous powers? The power scale is broken.
I made a post sometime ago about how Tigresse Pourpre and Pigella are parallels of Ladybug and Chat Noir. Tigresse Pourpre: also a cat, dark-coloured, armed with a power of incredible destructive force. Pigella: pink-themed, dance-themed, armed with the power to create something. So the two of them being destroyed by their Ladybug and Chat Noir is like watching nature takes its course.
Kagami’s fringe is dishevelled?
I don’t think I’ve ever see her without hair covering her forehead.
She looks good. She should have a formal appearance, or alternate casual appearance, with her fringe brushed away.
"You’re in great shape these days, kitty-cat." "We can’t afford to make anymore mistakes."
Oh, how the turntables.
Ladybug is beginning to have inklings of feelings for Chat Noir.
Faux-Ladybug’s giant sword isn’t purely red-and-black-spots anymore. There’s a silver blade edge. Good design call, it looks much more deadly. The black on the tip of the quills (?) resemble poisonous daggers.
I’m surprised that these signposts in the back actually has readable words on them.
Ooh, I finally get her outfit. I thought she was an ice-cream cone – she’s supposed to be a candelabra. You know, wax figurine.
You know Chat Noir’s not going to be here to stop you from spiralling into despair at every other comment, right?
Neither the Bee Miraculous’ Venin or the Ox Miraculous’ Résistance should be stronger than Chat Noir’s Cataclysm. That's not how the power balance should work.
Nice to see that Chat Noir is actually fighting back for once, instead of letting whatever happens to him happen.
She’s dead.
Ladybug actually managed to communicate her feelings to Chat Noir pretty well. Pity that he misinterpreted.
"Yes. I think I’m in love." Whoa, finally.
The clownery never ends. Finally when mutuality is established, it’s in the wrong direction.
This is a very clean and beautiful scene. The brightness of the Musée Grevin poster, the grey skies and the rain. The animation of Marinette’s tears and the vividness of her emotions.
This episode basically establishes that the emotions are going in the opposite direction now. At this point, it seems that Adrien and Marinette will keep chasing each other in a circle, 'round and 'round.
