New Beginnings . . . I was asked the other day what I thought was one of the most beautiful things in the natural world. Honestly my answer is birds nests. The way they are made with such care and precision by the feathered creatures who make them always astonishes me. I collect a lot of vintage books and one of my favourite things to collect are the Shown To The Children books. They are books that contain general knowledge about a variety of subjects from nature to architecture. One of my favourites from this collection is the book which covers birds nests. It contains some really beautiful pictures and illustrations and it’s honestly such a treasure of mine. I’ve always found it difficult to read my beloved vintage book collection because of the fact that I can’t see the print very well. I often have to scan pages with my iPhone and it really makes the experience of reading them feel a bit disjointed. Since having my OrCam Read @orcam_technologies I can now read them and enjoy them just as if I was reading them with my actual eyes. It really adds to the experience with me and it’s made me enjoy my vintage book collection so much more. I feel as if I can actually read and enjoy them and not just have them as an ornament like I was before. . . . Flowers from my garden way back in September. The rose bush I planted in a pot was so prolific. I can’t wait till it starts to warm up again. In the mean time I’ll enjoy the dried version of these. Have you tried a photo shoot with flowers in milk? It’s pretty easy. Find a white container preferably in the shape of a rectangle so you have plenty of room to shoot the scene. Then add water. And then some milk. You don’t have to add a ton. Just enough to give it that cloudy appearance. Place flowers gently on top of milk water and move them around until you find a composition that feels right. You can add or subtract as you like.

Which book got you into reading for the first time and how old were you? I remember trying to read and understand my dad’s books when I was a kid and it was very difficult for me! 😁But finally I found some books to my liking in his library; History books! Maybe because they felt like stories to me and since we didn’t have many novels at our library, I would just entertain myself by reading them! I probably was 11 or 12 years old when I first found out that I enjoyed reading so much and by the time I was 17, I’d read many books about Iran’s history and learned a lot! Q : Which book with maps in it that you like? ________________________________ The Foundling by Stacey Halls | Mini Review 💭I cried and sobbed and "awh" many times towards the ending. I love everything about it. The character and plot building, the aspect of it. They are just brilliant! This is by far the best domestic historical fiction stpry I have ever read and made me cried. An Office in the Garden . . . “When we tug at a single thing in nature, we find it attached to the rest of the world.” John Muir. . . . Even though we may not be able to go out into the world beyond our gates, we can still be inspired by the worlds we inhabit. I’ve been spending a lot of time in my back garden lately, enjoying the little glimpses of nature it has to over. I fashioned myself a little writing desk decorating it with vintage curiosities and set up a space with my vintage typewriter. I occupied the space next to a particularly fragrant area of the flower wall where the Bubmblebees often frequent. They didn’t seem to mind the intrusion and were happy to share their favourite spot with me. I know this seemingly “idyllic” shot may seem just as if it’s been curated for a photograph. But in fact I often use my typewriter to write these days. I’ve been taking a lot of comfort and pleasure in documenting my days in lockdown. However, I am trying to find a balance in distancing myself from technology. So my typewriter serves as my solution. Although I will admit tipping on a typewriter is a painstaking process, as you cannot simply hit the delete button if you make a mistake! But, thats the appeal I think, you have to strive for perfection and concentrate your efforts on typing. Just another way I am training my mind into concentrating and not dwelling on other thoughts. . . .
