Autumn is nature’s final curtain call before things draw to a close for another year. For one more time nature picks itself up and gets ready to don all it’s remaining colours and jewels to celebrate what a wonderful year of life it’s had. . . . Having red hair this is always the season that speaks to me and the time where I draw a lot of inspiration for my photos. Embrace your inner child, even when you aren’t one on the outside 🌈 . . . Does anyone else feel rather duped to when they look at children’s clothes compared to adult ones? Often children’s clothes are made with such detail and are so pretty. I often feel sad that my adult frame cannot fit into them anymore. When I was a child I used to love wearing flouncy dresses. Although I did have my days to wear dungarees and pretend to fix cars like my dad who was a mechanic for years. But I’ve always had a soft spot for pink and up until recently I forgot about that. This dress from @selkie rekindled my love for the colour and now I’m on the hunt to acquire more pink dresses. The child exists within me and every time I put this dress on, I know she is smiling. I’ve been rather busy over the past week or so with journalism coursework and creating my podcast episode. So I’ve not been on here posting any photos. New Beginnings . . . I was asked the other day what I thought was one of the most beautiful things in the natural world. Honestly my answer is birds nests. The way they are made with such care and precision by the feathered creatures who make them always astonishes me. I collect a lot of vintage books and one of my favourite things to collect are the Shown To The Children books. They are books that contain general knowledge about a variety of subjects from nature to architecture. One of my favourites from this collection is the book which covers birds nests. It contains some really beautiful pictures and illustrations and it’s honestly such a treasure of mine. I’ve always found it difficult to read my beloved vintage book collection because of the fact that I can’t see the print very well. I often have to scan pages with my iPhone and it really makes the experience of reading them feel a bit disjointed. Since having my OrCam Read @orcam_technologies I can now read them and enjoy them just as if I was reading them with my actual eyes. It really adds to the experience with me and it’s made me enjoy my vintage book collection so much more. I feel as if I can actually read and enjoy them and not just have them as an ornament like I was before. . . . Self Love ❤️ . . . Today I wanted to talk to you all about self love. For many Valentines Day is a day to show love for others. But what about showing love to ourselves? To me, self love means to be your own best friend. It means to do things for yourself that bring you joy and make you feel good. It means to speak kindly to yourself and be your own filter for any negativity that may come your way. People often ask why I, as a legally blind woman, love to wear makeup, wear pretty dresses and curl my hair when I can’t see. It’s because of self love, it’s because it makes me feel good and gives me a huge boost to my self esteem. That’s what self love is, it’s about recognising what makes you happy and acting on it.
